I PURCHASED A LEXUS ES 350 AFTER MUCH RESEARCH TO FIND THE SAFEST CAR WITH ADVANCED AIRBAGS. LEXUS HAS A DUAL AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH IS WHY I CHOSE THIS CAR. HOWEVER IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME AS THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT COMES ON AT TIMES , SO IN AN ACCIDENT IT MAY NOT DO ME ANY GOOD. WHEN THERE IS A BIG BUMP IN THE ROAD IT IMMEDIATELY SAYS OFF ON OCCASIONS, OTHER TIMES I DO NOTHING AND IT SAYS OFF. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WE NEED TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO SAY ON AGAIN, OR SOMETIMES I BOUNCE HARD AND IT WILL KICK BACK ON. WHEN I WAS TESTED IN CAR AT LEXUS, WHICH THEY WERE VERY NICE TO ME I MIGHT ADD, I WEIGHED IN AT ABOUT 87 POUNDS AND THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES, AS I REALLY WEIGH 115 POUNDS. THEY SAID IT COULD TAKE 6 MONTHS OR A YEAR BEFORE THEY CAN GET IT SOLVED, DUE TO GOVT. REGULATIONS WITH THE FAULTY OCCUPANT SENSORY SYSTEM. *JB
THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG DOES NOT READ ON ALL THE TIME WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. IT KEEPS READING OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING. COULD STAY OFF FOR 30 MINUTES, GO ON TO TWO MINUTES AND THEN GO OFF AGAIN. *JB
PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND TURNS "OFF" WHEN MY WIFE SITS IN THE SEAT WHILE CAR IS IN OPERATION. MY WIFE WEIGHS UNDER 110 LBS. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX TO DATE. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE. *JB
PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG ON MY NEW 2007 ES350 LEXUS GOES OFF AND ON CONTINUOUSLY, GIVING NO PROTECTION IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT IF OFF. LEXUS SAID THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR IT AND I FIRST REPORTED IT IN JULY 2006. THEY HAVE HAD THEIR ENGINEERS, SERVICE MANAGERS, ETC. CHECK IT AT MY HOUSE AND THEIR PLACE AND CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *JB
VISIBILITY AROUND THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT. FRONT POSTS ARE LARGE AND CLOSER TO THE DRIVER, BLOCKING MORE OF THE FIELD OF VIEW. THE HIGH BACKEND BLOCKS REAR VIEW AND THE LARGE POSTS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW ADD SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE BLIND SPOTS. BECAUSE OF THE VISIBILITY ISSUE, I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS HARM TO OTHERS AND DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I HAVE HAD TO SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGE MY DRIVING HABITS TO ACCOMMODATE WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A DESIGN WEAKNESS IN THE CAR. THE CAR FEELS UNSAFE TO ME AND I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT IT. IF I COULD AFFORD TO SELL IT I WOULD IN A NEW YORK SECOND. I AM A 17 YEAR TOYOTA CUSTOMER WHO HAS OWNED 5 OF THEIR PRODUCTS, ON THIS ONE THE DESIGN STINKS. I RANK IT "FAIR" ONLY BECAUSE IT HAS OTHER FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE THAT ARE QUITE GOOD, BUT THEY DON'T OFFSET THE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. I LOVE TOYOTA/LEXUS, BUT I HATE THE ES350. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW WITH BOTH FEET DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ONCE IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER HAS SENT TECHNICIANS TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. *AK
TAKATA RECALL
THIS COMPLAINT IS NOT ABOUT A SPECIFIC 'INCIDENT'. THE COMPLAINT IS THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS SOMETIMES ON AND SOMETIMES OFF WHEN MY WIFE RIDES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AS SHE IS ABOUT 110 POUNDS, WE THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE ON ALL THE TIME FOR HER. *TR
2007 LEXUS ES350 MAKING LOUD NOISE WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. CONSUMER STATES THAT IT MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. DEALER STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE ES350. *KB
CONSUMER HAS ADHERED TO ALL THE RECALL PRECAUTIONS PERTAINING TO THE ES MODEL LEXUS AND THE PROBLEMS STILL PERSIST. THE CONSUMER STATED HE STILL EXPERIENCED MINOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *JB
2007 LEXUS ES350 WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED OVER THE LAST YEAR, HE EXPERIENCED TWO INCIDENTS OF UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED ONLY BRIEFLY AND UNDER SIMILAR DRIVING CONDITIONS. IN EACH CASE, THE CONSUMER ACCELERATED RAPIDLY TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE. IN EACH CASE, AFTER HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE ENGINE REMAINED IN A HIGH RPM AND HIGH ACCELERATION CONDITION FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS PRIOR TO DECELERATING. IN NEITHER CASE, WAS THE FLOOR MAT AN ISSUE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL, REGARDING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM. *JB
CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *NJ
