MAY OF 2021 WILL MARK TWO YEARS SINCE I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2008 LINCOLN MKZ ABS SYSTEM. LINCOLN OFFICIALLY ISSUED A RECALL ABOUT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2020. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A FIX TO NOT YET HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THIS. I CANNOT SELL MY CAR AS NO ONE WILL BUY IT WITH THE ISSUE AND I CANNOT TRADE MY CAR FOR ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIPS CANNOT SELL THE TRADE TO A CUSTOMER DUE TO THE RECALL. I AM BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY A CAR I CANNOT DRIVE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER DUE TO THE ABS SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON .. TOOK TO TECH .. TIMING ISSUES .. FURTHER EXAMINATION REVELED WATER PUMP LEAKING, TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED ON ONE SIDE .. RESULT REQUIRED WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT, TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT, REPLACEMENT OF RIGHT BANK PHASER AND SECONDARY CHAIN AND TENTIONER, REPLACED UPPER CHAIN GUIDES, REPLACED CRANK/SPROCKET. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS $2775.23 .. MILEAGE 88245 .. DETAILED INVOICE FROM REPAIR SHOP IS AVAILABLE.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL SHARPLY TO THE LEFT AND HEARD A BREAKING SOUND. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I FOUND THAT THE FRONT WHEELS WERE BOTH POINTED INWARDS (PIGEON-TOED) A SEVERE AMOUNT. A FLAT-BED TRUCK WAS CALLED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE REPORT FROM THE FORD DEALER IS THAT AN OUTER TIE-ROD END HAD BROKEN COMPLETELY THROUGH IN WHAT WOULD BE CHARACTERIZED AS A BRITTLE FRACTURE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THERE WAS A BRIGHT CLEAN BREAK NOT TYPICAL OF A FATIGUE FAILURE OR A DUCTILE FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE DRIVING 33 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE BRAKE FAILED TO ENGAGE QUICKLY CAUSING THE CONTACT TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS AN ON GOING ISSUE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHOM DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE MASTER CYLINDER HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHOM STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE MASTER CYLINDER HOWEVER, A FAILURE CAUSE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED RECENTLY RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING RELATED TO THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS UPSET THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
ABS ENGAGED ON SNOWY ROAD. NOW, BRAKE PEDAL IS EXTREMELY SOFT/SPONGY...DOES NOT ENGAGE UNTIL PEDAL IS FULLY DEPRESSED. COUNTY ROAD. STRAIGHT-LINE STOP. REPLACED BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND PERFORMED FACTORY PRESSURE/SERVICE BLEED. CAUSE IS CERTAIN TO BE THE HISTORICALLY FAULTY ABS HCU/CONTROL MODULE.
TIRES CONSTANTLY GOING FLAT BECAUSE OF RIM.I WOULD NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER LINCOLN EVER
WENT TO STOP IN WINTER CONDITIONS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR AT THE STOP SIGN, HAD TO GO TO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID HITTING THEM. NOW THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COME ON AS SOON AS I REACH 15 MPH. I HAVE HAD ALL THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND BREAK PADS REPLACED. STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
I WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH AND STARTED SLOW DONE TO A STOP AND IT FELT LIKE THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T STOP I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO WHAT FELT LIKE THE FLOOR AND NOW TO STOP IT NEEDS TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY. IT FEELS UNSAFE. IF I WOULD HAVE HAD A CAR IN FRONT OF ME I WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED THEM.THIS IS A REAL ISSUE AND DANGER.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, VEHICLE INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO STOP AFTER ABS EVENT. 11/10/18-DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS INDICATING REAR ROTORS NEED REPLACING, AUTHORIZED REPAIR. 11/10/18 AFTER REPLACING ROTORS DEALER STATES REAR CALIPER ACTION IS ERRATIC, STATES REAR CALIPERS NEED REPLACED DUE TO ERRATIC ACTION. AUTHORIZED REPAIR WITH OEM FORD PARTS, NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL 11/12/18. DEALER VEHEMENTLY DENIES HCU IS THE ISSUE EVEN AFTER I PROPOSE THIS SCENARIO. STATES NOT THE HCU 11/12/18-DEALER CALLED SAID PEDAL IS MUCH BETTER, HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS OR CODES, HCU IS FAULTY, WANTS ME TO PICK UP CAR. STATES THAT PEDAL TRAVEL RETURNS, BUT MIGHT WANT TO HAVE THE HCU REPLACED. !! DEALER PREVIOUSLY STATED HCU WAS NOT THE ISSUE, THE REAR CALIPERS WERE: DUE TO ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. SERVICE TO THIS POINT TO HAVE COMPONENTS REPLACED, THAT HAVE NOT RESOLVED INITIAL COMPLAINT VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN FRONTAL CRASH FROM PREVIOUS OWNER. DETAILS WERE NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE TO ME. WILL BE REQUESTING DEALER ASSISTANCE WITH PART REPLACEMENT IN THIS SCENARIO.
TAKATA RECALL, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED WITHOUT ANYTHING TRIGGERING IT WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. IT SHOWS THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS OFF DUE TO HAVING SOME KIND OF WEIGHT ON THE SEAT. BUT THERE IS NOTHING ON THE SEAT AT ALL WHEN THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT IS STILL ON AND STAYED ON. I READ ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND I READ THE THE AIRBAG CAN EXPLODE DURING A CRASH AND THAT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING AN AIRBAG. IT'S SUPPOSED TO SAVE LIVES AND NOT TAKE THEM AWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS FIXED AND RESOLVED BEFORE WINTER COMES IN FULL EFFECT AND TO AVOID ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS IF AN ACCIDENT DO OCCUR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LIVERMORE FORD LINCOLN (2266 KITTY HAWK RD, LIVERMORE, CA 94551, (925) 294-7700) WHERE IT WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V240000 (AIR BAGS) BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,086.
BRAKES SPONTANEOUSLY WENT SOFT, DURING TRAVEL (30 MPH?). CHANGED MASTER CYLINDER WHICH SEEMED TO RESOLVE ISSUE. COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, HAPPENED AGAIN UWHILE IN MOTION. MASTER CYLINDER CHANGED 2ND TIME UNDER WARRANTY. HAPPENED THIRD TIME WITHIN WEEKS TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH. THE THIRD TIME, IT HAPPENED UPON APPLICATION OF BRAKES (NOT AGGRESSIVE) WHICH CAUSED ABS ACTIVATION. PULSE WAS FELT IN BRAKE PEDAL AND IMMEDIATELY BRAKES PEDAL WENT SOFT (ALMOST TO FLOOR). PUMPING BRAKE PEDAL FIRMED THE BRAKES. COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, TESTED ABS ON GRAVEL ROAD BY AGGRESSIVE BRAKING, ABS ACTIVATION AND BRAKES WENT SOFT IMMEDIATELY DURING THE ACTION. PUMPING UP BRAKES RESULTED IN FIRMING, AT TOP OF BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL WITHOUT SLOWING VEHICLE THEN INTO SOFT TRAVEL THROUGH 3/4 TRAVEL UNTIL FIRMED AGAIN AT BOTTOM OF TRAVEL. CONCERN IS THAT IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY BRAKING WHICH ACTIVATES ABS, TYPICAL BRAKING CHANGES TO 'SOFT PEDAL' (BELIEF OF FAILED BRAKES) AND POTENTIAL FOR PANIC AND RESULTING COLLISION. DEALER TESTED SYSTEM TODAY (10/03/2018) AND COULD NOT DIAGNOSE ANY PROBLEM. NO DASH LIGHT WAS EVER ACTIVATED IN ANY OF THE EVENTS DESCRIBED. NO BRAKE FLUID LEAK DETECTED, NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEACH FORD (2717 VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452, (757) 486-2717) FOR A REPLACEMENT APPOINTMENT; HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS PROMISED THAT THEY WOULD RESERVE A REPLACEMENT PART FOR HER, BUT WITH NO TIMEFRAME. THE FIRST TIME THE MANUFACTURER RESERVED A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE CONTACT AND SENT HER A CONFIRMATION EMAIL. AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT MADE THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE SECOND TIME THE MANUFACTURER APOLOGIZED REPEATEDLY, BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CAR WAS MOVING HIT BUMP IN ROAD AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR.THINKING PROBLEM WAS BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS HAD FRONT AND READ PADS AND CALIPERS INSTALLED STILL LOW BRAKE PEDAL.WENT TO LINCOLN DEALER HAD BRAKE FLUSH PREFORMED BY LINCOLN DEALER,REPORT CAME BACK IT WAS MY HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE COSTING $1,306 PLUS TAX LABOR IS SEPARATE COST. HAD CAR APPRAISED AT LINCOLN DEALER I BROUGHT CAR FROM APPRASIL CAME BACK $ 3,300 DOLLARS. PART IS HALF CURRENT VALUE OF CAR.STILL PAYING FOR CAR . CAR WAS PRICED AT APPROXIMATELY $7800.IN THE FIRST YEAR ALMOST STARTING SECOND YEAR OF 4 YEAR LOAN.FEELING VERY HELPLESS ALSO DEALER WHO PREFORMED BRAKE FLUSH AND DIAGNOSIS SAYS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE HAVE THE RESULTS FROM DEALER IN WRITING.
WE ARE CONTINUALLY RECEIVING LETTERS ABOUT NOT HAVING THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. HOWEVER, WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO LOANER AVAILABLE OR ARE UNDER A LONG LIST OF OTHER OWNERS WAITING, OR THE PARTS WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS. I TRIED CALLING THE NHTSA HOTLINE AND BOTH TIMES THE CALL WAS DISCONNECTED AFTER PICKUP. THIS IS ALL VERY FRUSTRATING AND SCARY TO HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR WITH A POTENTIAL FATAL DEFECT EVERYDAY AND AT LONG DISTANCES. THERE SHOULD BE AN ALTERNATIVE THROUGH RENTAL CAR BUSINESSES OR INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS.

BREAK PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING. BREAKS WILL WORK BUT VERY SCARY TO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER EACH TIME WITH NO RESOLVE. ALL BREAK, TRACTION CONTROL, EMG BRAKES LIGHTS CAME ON DEALER SAID ITS A HYDROLIC CONTROL UNIT $1500.00. ANOTHER REPAIR STATION HOOKED IT UP AND IT CAME BACK WITH A B1342, OCCUPANT SYSTEM MODULE. I HAD JUST HAD THE AIR BAG FIXED DUE TO RECALL. I WAS TOLD THIS OCCUPANT MODULE WILL CONTROL/MALFUNCTION OTHER AREAS OF THE AUTO.

CAR KNOCKS AND JOLTS WHEN SHIFTING, WON'T SHIFT GEARS WHILE ACCELERATING.
"TAKATA RECALL" SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S26 / NHTSA RECALL 16V-384. THE LINCOLN MOTOR CAR COMPANY SENT ME A LETTER THAT STATES, DEALERS ARE AUTHORIZED TO SPEND UP TO $45 PER DAY TO RENT A CAR FOR ME, UNTIL RECALL REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. I HAVE CONTACTED A NUMBER OF DEALERS AND THEY HAVE DECLINED TO RENT A VEHICLE FOR ME. I THEN CONTACTED LINCOLN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE TO JEFF AT NOON ON 6/28/18. JEFF'S DIRECT LINE IS 888-214-2155 AT EXT 77846. JEFF SAID THAT HE WOULD TRY TO ARRANGE FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR ME. HE CALLED BACK AS PROMISED AND SAID THAT I WAS 7TH IN LINE FOR A RENTAL THROUGH THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN OLD BRIDGE N.J. THAT CAN TAKE MONTHS TO HAPPEN.
MY CAR KEEPS RUNNING HOT AND THE ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARS WHEN YOU POOR IT IN ALSO THE RPM GOOD SLOW THEN GOES FAST THEN CUTS OFF
AFTER ABS FUNCTION OPERATES I HAVE A LOWER THAN USUAL PEDAL TRAVEL. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES 3/4 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF NOT USING THE VEHICLE THE PEDAL WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES PRECEDING ABS ACTIVATION.

ALL OF THE ON-LINE REPORTS SAY THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVE FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. NONE OF APPEARS TO BE COVERED BY FORD. I AM TAKING MINE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TOMORROW TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT MINE AND DRIVE IT WHILE IT IS ACTING UP.
