My car has been making a weird whistling noise for a few months. My husband found it was coming from the rear intake manifold hose. He started my car and next the car started smoking and he looked under the hood the nipple where the hose connected had broke off and there is a crack all the way down the intake manifold.
There was a loud pop after I got gas. My car wouldn't stay running. I couldn't figure out what was going on. My husband looked under the hood and the spark plug still attached to the ignition coil had popped out of the engine. All of the screws holding the ignition coils had backed out.
The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the passenger’s side curtain air bag inadvertently deployed without warning. While the contact was startled by the deployment of the air bag, there was no injury sustained. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,930.

AND ALSO MY WINDSHIELD FLUID DOESN'T COME OUT WHEN PUSH.STEERING COULD IS LOOSE.ALL IN MOTION EVEN.ON THE HWY I CANNOT GO ON. I CANNOT TAKE PIC IT IS UNDER THE CAR
ON JULY 16, 2017, I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 70 EAST, NEAR WASHINGTON, PA. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY 2001 LINCOLN STARTED SHAKING VERY VIOLENTLY. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A REST STOP A FEW MILES AWAY, AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PORTION OF MY LINCOLN WAS VERY LOW TO THE GROUND. I MANAGED TO DRIVE INTO WASHINGTON, PA, AND A LOCAL MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE SUSPECTED THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR, WHICH CONTROLS THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION BAGS, WAS DEFECTIVE. A FEW WEEKS EARLIER, THE "AIR BAGS" WARNING LIGHT RELATING TO THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION BAGS HAD COME ON; MY MECHANIC CHECKED THEM OUT AND STATED THAT THEY WERE FINE, AS HE HAD REPLACED BOTH OF THEM, IN 2013. HOWEVER, IN RETROSPECT, THE COMPUTER WAS REFERRING TO THE AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR AND PROBABLY TO THE AIR SUSPENSION HEIGHT SENSOR. I HAD MY MECHANIC REPLACE BOTH OF THOSE PARTS. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE LINCOLN PERSONNEL SHOULD HAVE WARNED THE LINCOLN TOWN CAR OWNERS THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM, WHICH IS USED ON THE LINCOLN TOWN CARS, IS PRONE TO FAILURE; AND, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARNING BUILT INTO THE COMPUTER TO WARN DRIVERS OF AN IMPENDING LOSS TO THAT SYSTEM. A LIGHT COMING ON JUST STATING "AIR BAGS" IS NOT SUFFICIENT. PRIOR TO THAT PROBLEM, I HAD NO IDEA THAT THERE WAS AN AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR, OR AN AIR SUSPENSION HEIGHT SENSOR TO CONTROL THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION BAGS. SINCE THERE ARE STILL THOUSANDS OF LINCOLN TOWN CARS ON THE ROAD, THE NHTSA SHOULD AT LEAST WARN OWNERS OF THOSE CARS, ABOUT THE POTENTIAL SUSPENSION PROBLEM, WHICH CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND WAS RESTARTED AFTER TEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,250.

NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME AND HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL COMING TO A SCREECHING STOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
MY 2001 LINCOLN TOWNCAR SIGNATURE ,. GAS IN FUEL AND DROVE 3 MILES IN PARK. THE CAR LITTLE EXHAUST, I PROCEEDED TO THE LIGHT AND THERMOSTATS HEATING NEEDLE TO HOT. I MOVE TO NEXT, LIGHT, AIR CONDITION ON TO COOL DOWN. IMMEDIATELY LEFT TURN INTO CYPRESS RESTAURANT. PARKING, TURN OFF, COOL DOWN, AND NEXT OPEN BY FRIEND WHO NEEDED GO THE DOCTOR. CALLED AAA PULL TO THE SHOP. ESTIMATED , CAN NOT REPAIRED THIS...DAY. SO, IF IT WAS MANUFACTURED DEFECEITS. I LOOK UP ...
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN HARD IMPACT
I HAVE REPLACED ALL STEERING COMPONENTS. AND THE STEERING STILL WONDERS TO BAD TO DRIVE.
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION STEERING WONDERS BACK AND FORTH. CENTER STEERING ONLY OBTAIN WITH CONSTANT CORRECTING.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 30 MILES AN HOUR, THE PASSENGER SEAT SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE ASSEMBLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO CRASH, IMPACT, OR CONTACT WITH ANYTHING. FAULTY SENSOR OR CONTROLLER?
THE CAR HAS DEVELOPED POOR RETURN TO CENTER WHEN TURNING. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE STICKY IN NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING, THAT IS, A MINOR CORRECTION SEEMS TO STAY UNTIL CORRECTED THE OTHER DIRECTION. THIS MAKES THE CAR WANDER BACK AND FORTH. I HAD ONE MECHANIC IN TOWN DIAGNOSE IT AS LOWER STEERING SHAFT AND I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO EVALUATE THE PROBLEM. I NOTE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR 2005 AND LATER MODEL YEARS. THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS FROM STEERING FAILURE REPORTED.
ON WIPERS THE INTERMEDIATE DONT WORK AND WHEN WASHER FLUID SPRAYED CANT SHUT WIPERS OFF 2 NOW ON WHEELS CONSTANTLY LOOSING AIR DUE TO RIMS PEELING AND THE INSIDE RIMS ARE PEELING CAUSING TIRE NOT TO HOLD AIR AND 3 FRONT END WOBBLES AND RADDLES HAD NEW TIERODS AND BALL JOINTS WONDERING IF ANY RECALLS WERE DUE TO BE DONE AND PREVIOUS OWNER NEGLECTED TO GET DONE PLEASE HELP

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD METAL DRAGGING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COMPLETELY COLLAPSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TIE ROD FRACTURED AND DAMAGED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE DEFECTIVE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

I WAS DRIVING THE LINCOLN TOWN CAR WHEN I BEGAN TO SMELL WHAT APPEARED TO BE GAS OR SOME FLUID COMING INTO THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED THE CAR AND PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY AND INSPECTED THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WHERE THERE WAS NO LEAK BUT A STRONG ODOR OF GAS OR SOME FLUID. I THEN STARTED THE CAR AND PUT INTO REVERSE AND WITH MY FOOT APPLIED TO THE BRAKE BACKING UP IN REVERSE THERE WAS A LOUD POP IN THE ENGINE AND THE CAR SHUT OFF FOLLOWED BY SMOKE AND THEN FIRE. THE CAR THEN SET ON FIRE AND BURNED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVED TO PUT THE CAR OUT. IT WAS TOTALED. *TR
IN CURVE ON HIGHWAY LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND WENT INTO ADJACENT LANE BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL. IF THERE HAD BEEN ANOTHER CAR IN THAT LANE WOULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH IT. TOOK TO LINCOLN DEALER. THEY TOLD ME STEERING CORRODED BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF RECALL. ALSO CALLED FORD MOTOR AND THEY TOLD ME SAME THING. THE REPAIRS COST $2000 . LINCOLN DEALERSHIP SAID VEHICLE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR WHEN IT HIT ICE AT 9:20A- 1/25/2013 ON I-94 NEAR CHESTERTON, IN, SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED TWICE (FRONT/REAR) INTO THE LEFT CONCRETE BARRIER PARALLEL TO THE ROADWAY. NONE OF THE 4 AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I (AGE 77) AND MY PASSENGER (AGE 83) WORE SEAT BELTS THAT SAVED US. CAR FRONT SMASHED; CAR REAR LESS DAMAGED. SIDES ARE O.K.. ISP REPORT ID:201300021141. THIS UNIT IS THE SAME PART USED THROUGH THE ABOVE-MENTIONED MODEL YEAR VEHICLES, BUT I CANNOT OBTAIN ANY ASSISTANCE. PART IS ALSO OBSOLETE AND CANNOT BE PURCHASED THROUGH FORD. MY FAMILY AND I OWN 4 LINCOLN TOWN CARS. YEARS OF THEM ARE 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008 AND EVERYTIME IT RAINS A LOT OF WATER GETS INTO TO FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. I'M GUESSING THE FRAME ISN'T WELDING CORRECTLY OR ALL THE WAY. ALSO MY FRIEND SAID HE'S 2003 LINCOLN TOWN CAR ACCUMULATES WATER TOO WHEN IT RAINS A LOT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH ON A CURVE, THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED. THE SPRING ON THE HANDLE WAS FAULTY AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILUR DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

MY COMPLIANT CONCERNS OUR 2001 LINCOLN TOWNCAR CARTIER. ON 14 JUNE 2009, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM CHURCH, IT STARTED RAINING. I TURNED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON AND THEY WORKED UP TO LEAVING THE RESTAURANT. WHILE DRIVING OFF THE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK. I FOUND MYSELF DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITHOUT WIPERS. I PURCHASED OUR LINCOLN NEW AND ONLY HAVE 33,200 MILES ON IT NOW. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND THERE HAD BEEN 1,083,000 RECALLS (01S24) ON 2001'S FOR WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER MOTOR. I PRINTED IT OFF AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAIN WHAT HAD HAPPEN AND GAVE THEN A COPY OF THE RECALL NOTICE. I CALLED THAT AFTERNOON AND THE SERVICE REP SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND NEED TO KEEP IT OVERNIGHT. I AGREED. I RECEIVED A CALL JUNE 23RD AND WAS TOLD THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND IT WOULD COST ME $538.00 TO FIX. I ASKED WHY WASN'T IT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED AND THEREFORE IT WAS NOT COVERED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I DENIED THEM THE RIGHT TO FIX IT AT THAT COST AND TOOK IT TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC. I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AND TALKED WITH TWO INDIVIDUALS BEFORE RECEIVING A CALL FROM GUY WHO IS THERE SUPERVISOR. I EXPLAINED TO GUY MY FRUSTRATION AND DISSATISFACTION. HE EXPLAINED THAT ALL RECALLS ARE BASED ON INVESTIGATIONS AND IDENTIFIED WITH VIN OF THE VEHICLES. MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED AND THEREFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THERE WERE 1,083,000 RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. ALL VEHICLES WITH VIN MADE FROM FEB 15 THROUGH JULY 2000 WERE INCLUDED AND THE PLANT WHERE MY VEHICLE WAS MADE WAS ON THE LIST BUT THE MANUFACTURE DATES THAT WERE INCLUDED FOR THAT PLANT WAS FEB 15 THRU JULY 2000. MY VEHICLE WAS MADE AT WIXOM PLANT BUT IT WAS MADE SEPTEMBER 2000. I'M HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, MY CAR WAS MADE AT ONE OF THE SAME PLANTS BUT TWO MONTHS LATER. WHERE IS THE LOGIC? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER THE DEPLOYMENT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT SUSTAINED DAMAGE ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS ALREADY REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL REMEDY; THEREFORE, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,600 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,637.

SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE WIPER MOTOR WAS FAILING. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE WIPER MOTOR THAT RELATED TO HER VIN; THEREFORE, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE. DEFECT SUMMARY: CERTAIN POLICE, COMMERCIAL, AND PASSENGER VEHICLES SOLD INPUT HIGHER LOADS INTO THE VEHICLE CHASSIS OVERLOADING THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND AXLES. FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WAS PERFORMED. REAR WHEELS WAS NOT ALIGNED TO MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS, FOR WHICH, THIS VEHICLE HAS A NON-ADJUSTABLE REAR END. FRONT-END ALIGNMENT WAS NOT IN MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS AND COULD NOT BE CORRECTED DUE TO FAULTY REAR END COMPONENTS. CONSEQUENCE SUMMARY: THIS COULD LEAD TO EARLY BEARING FAILURE AND ULTIMATELY TO AXLE SHAFT FRACTURE. IN THE EVENT OF AXLE SHAFT FRACTURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE DRIVE FUNCTION AND WOULD COAST TO A STOP. LOSS OF DRIVE FUNCTION COULD LEAD TO A CRASH. THE BOLT WAS TIGHTENED AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED HIM TO HAVE THE DEALER DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR IT. THE CURRENT AND APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 85000.
