THE AC HAD BEEN GETTING LESS COOL AND COMPLETELY WENT OUT 2 DAYS AGO. YESTERDAY IT STARTED MAKING A TICKING NOISE. TODAY IT STARTED SMOKING AND SMELLED LIKE BURNT RUBBER. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THE AC COMPRESSOR HAD GONE OUT. IT IS NOW GETTING A NEW COMPRESSOR/FILTER/DRYER/BELT WHICH I AM PAYING FOR AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TT
CAR SUDDENLY STALLED 3 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME; NO NOTICEABLE PERFORMANCE ISSUES / NOISE PRIOR. TOWED TO MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED TIMING BELT BROKE CAUSING SOME VALVES TO BEND AND OTHER DAMAGE THEREFORE REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE REQUIRED. WAS ON , OTHER CAR BLOG SITES ALONG WITH RESEARCHING THIS SITE AND FOUND THAT MANY, MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE AROUND THE 60K MILES MARK (OR LESS IN SOME CASES). SPOKE TO MAZDA AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY OWNERSHIP OR RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH MANY INCIDENCES OF THE SAME MECHANICAL PROBLEM. OIL CHANGES WERE MADE REGULARLY AND CAR WAS LAST INTO MAZDA FOR A NOISE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO WHICH THEY SAID WAS DUE TO MY BRAKES. HAVE OWNED MANY CARS BEFORE (NOT MAZDAS) AND THIS CAR IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT AS IS MY EXPERIENCE WITH MAZDA. I HOPE THIS ISSUE WILL BE OR IS BEING PURSUED WITH MAZDA. MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 BROKE DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. FOUND OUT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD SNAPPED AS A RESULT OF A PISTON BLOWING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE TURBO SEIZED AND CAUSED EXCESS PRESSURE CAUSING THE PISTON TO BLOW AND BREAKING THE TIMING CHAIN. HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE ONLINE COMPLAINING OF SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR CX-7. *TR
I OWN A MAZDA CX-7 AND WAS DRIVING LIKE A NORMALLY DO AND TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. IT STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR AND I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. SHORTLY AFTER MY ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND AND BEGIN SMOKING, I TOOL IT THE MECHANIC AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR. I READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT MAZDA CX-7 OWNERS HAVE FACED BUT THEY HAVE ALSO FACED HAVING THEIR CARS STALL OUT BECAUSE OF IT. *TR
MY WIFE AND I HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX 7 WITH 68000 MILES ON IT. ON AUGUST 13TH MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH MY 9 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER AND NOTED A FUNNY SOUND WITH LOSS OF AIR CONDITIONING OR CHANGE OF QUALITY OF AIR CONDITIONING. SHE REPORTED SMOKE AND NOISE THAT FOLLOWED. LUCKILY SHE WAS ON A BACK ROAD AND CLOSE TO HER DESTINATION AND WAS ABLE TO ARRIVE AT THE DESTINATION WITHOUT HAVING TO DRIVE FAR. SHE PHONED ME AND GAVE ME THE NEWS AND I IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR. THIS IS DUE TO RESEARCH I HAVE DONE THAT THE MAZDA CX 7 FROM 2007 IS NOTORIOUS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR SEIZING UP. LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND PARKED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAD EMAILED MAZDA AND REPORTED THE ISSUE, THE PART HAD THE WARRANTY EXTENDED TO 60000 MILES, SO I WAS ALREADY IRRITATED TO KNOW THAT THIS HAPPENED 8000 MILES OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY ON A PART MAZDA ALREADY KNEW WAS DEFECTIVE. THEY HAVE YET TO RESPOND TO MY EMAIL AND THAT WAS ALREADY MORE THAN A WEEK AGO. THE CAR IS REPAIRED NOW AND NOT BY A MAZDA DEALERSHIP AS I REFUSE TO GIVE THEM ANYMORE OF MY MONEY. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LACK OF OWNERSHIP BY THIS COMPANY OVER AN ISSUE WITH THIS PART THEY CLEARLY KNOW EXISTS. THIS PART IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED. I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THEY EXTENDED A WARRANTY, BUT WILL NOT JUST REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART THEY PRODUCED THAT COULD CAUSE PERSONAL HARM AND DANGER TO NOT ONLY THE OWNERS OF THIS CAR, BUT OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD AROUND IT. *TR
MY 2007 CX-7 EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE A/C COMPRESSOR RESULTING IN SMOKE IN THE CABIN. AFTER PARKING TO ALLOW THE CAR TO CLEAR IT WOULD NOT RE-START AND I HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THIS OCCURRED LATE ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND SO THEY WERE CLOSED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. THE POTENTIAL FAILURE WAS KNOWN AND MAZDA HAD ISSUED A LETTER EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM BUT NOT A FULL RECALL. THE DEALER INSTALLED NEW PARTS BUT SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF LACK OF PERFORMANCE. I HAVE RECEIVED EXPLANATIONS OF TOO MUCH/TOO LITTLE REFRIGERANT BLOCK DLINES WITH PARTICLES FROM THE ORIGINAL FAILURE. AFTER THE THIRD RETURN VISIT IN JUNE 2012 THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE FIXED AND THE SYSTEM WORKED UNTIL LAST WEEK SO I SCHEDULED ANOTHER VISIT. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW BEING DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED HOSE FITTING AND THEY ARE EXPECTING ME TO PAY FOR THE PART BUT NOT THE LABOR. MY VIEW IS THAT PARTS LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT FAIL AT THE CURRENT 41,000 MILES AND THAT SOME OF THIS IS RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS FIXES. ALSO CO-INCIDENTALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS SCHEDULING A DEALER APPOINTMENT. THIS HAS GONE ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED EGR VALVE AND WILL COST $700 TO REPLACE. AGAIN THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WOULD EXPECT TO NEED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND ON A CAR THAT HAS ALL ROUTINE SERVING AND HAS BEEN BABIED. THIS PROMPTED ME TO GO ON-LINE TO RESEARCH AND THERE APPEARS TO BE LOTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL OF MAZDA AND YET THEY ARE NOT PERFORMING RECALLS. I AM HOPING THAT MY EXPERIENCE WILL ADD TO THE CASE TO PRESSURIZE MAZDA TO BE MORE CUSTOMER ORIENTATED WITH THEIR CX-7 OWNERS AND/OR TO SUPPORT A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO HELP RECOMPENSE OWNERS AGAINST THESE NON ROUTINE MECHANICAL FAILURE ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE KEY FOB, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK. UPON UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE MANUALLY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE INTERIOR ALSO WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR (AS PER THE MANUFACTURERS CAMPAIGN LETTER) THAT CAUSES A NOISE AT START UP AND A LOOSE TIMING CHAIN. THAT FIRST PHASE OF THE FAILURE HAS ALREADY OCCURRED. THE NEXT STAGE OF THE FAILURE WHICH HASN'T HAPPENED TO ME YET (BUT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY OTHERS) IS THAT THE VVT ACTUATOR EVENTUALLY BECOMES DISLODGED FROM ITS PIN AND AS A RESULT, THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKS, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE INSTANTLY, CAUSING AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE FROM THE DRIVER TO ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, WITHOUT WARNING, WITHIN SECONDS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN ON THE NJ TURNPIKE, RT. 295, RT 195, ETC IN CENTRAL NJ AND WHEN THE FAILURE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON BUSY ROADWAYS, THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY OF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRING AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE, OR AS THE CAR SITS DISABLED ON THE EDGE OF A ROADWAY AWAITING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE DANGER IS NOT ONLY FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CX-7, BUT ALSO FOR THOSE DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE AT THE POINT OF THE VVT FAILING AND/OR THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED FOR OVER 90 DAYS, HOWEVER MAZDA USA CONTINUES TO INFORM ME THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THERE NO IDENTIFIED DATE OF WHEN THEY WILL BE IN STOCK. THAT MEANS THAT THEY ARE ALLOWING ME AND MY FAMILY TO DRIVE A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH A DEFECTIVE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT PART, THAT WHEN IT FAILS, MAY CAUSE HARM TO ME, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS. THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERING THIS A MATTER OF SAFETY, AND INSTEAD ONLY A MATTER OF INCONVENIENCE IN THAT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NOW OVER THEIR SELF DETERMINED 70,000K MILEAGE THRESHOLD, THEY ARE NOT OFFERING TO FIX THE CAR. INSTEAD, THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT I CAN PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY SHOULD BE WARNING THEIR CUSTOMERS OF THE DANGEROUS CONDITION BEING CREATED BY THEIR FAULTY COMPONENTS. *TR
AFTER DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE AIR COMPRESSOR KIT WENT OUT AND IT IS $2,300 TO FIX. *TR
BOUGHT MY 2007 MAZDA CX7 WITH 76000 MILES NOT EVEN KIDDING BUT 12HRS LATER MY MOTOR MOUNT AND THE VVT WENT OUT. A MONTH LATER RADIATOR CRACKED AND NOW IT HAD A BAD OIL LEAK AND LOUD KNOCKIN NOISE IT SOUNDS LIKE AN OLD TRUCK VERY BUMPED OUT I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR FIVE MONTHS. *TR
WAS REAR-ENDED AT A FAST SPEED BY AN 18 TRACTOR TRAILER. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I WAS SLUNG WITH SUCH FORCE AGAIN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT THE BACK OF MY SEAT FELL BACKWARDS. MY SONS SEATBELT CAME LOOSE AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD I HAD ENOUGH STRENGTHS TO GRAB HIM AND PULL HIM BACK TO KEEP FROM GOING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE THE MOST DAMAGE BECAUSE I HAD TO GET LOOSE FROM MY SEAT BELT. NEITHER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHICH IN THE KIND FORCE WE WERE HIT WITH AND ON TOP OF THAT THE SEAT BELT COMING OUT. I AM STILL HAVING NIGHTMARE WERE I HAVE SLEPT WALKED OUT SIDE AND ACTUALLY STARTED TO PICK UP STICKS AS IF I WERE PICK UP MY SONS BODY. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 65 MILES PER HOUR, ENGINE SHUT OFF... PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD. CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC. DIAGNOSTIC WITH TWO QUOTES TIMING CHAIN SNAPPED BENT VALVE, NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I HAVE BEEN REVIEWING FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS OF MAZDA CX7 2007 MODELS. MY CAR IS AT THE 61,000 MILES MARK. IF SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ITS NO COINCIDENCE, THANKFULLY ON THE DAY MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN WAS IN THE FAR LANE THAT I COULD PULL OVER. SOMEONE ELSE WITH THIS CAR MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY. MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL AND START DOING SOMETHING. *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7 AWD GRAND TOURING WITH 39K MILES. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN HAD SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE TRAVELING DOWN ROAD. IN TRAFFIC CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED TO CRAWL AT 20MPH ONCE CAR WAS NAVIGATED TO SHOULDER AND STOPPED IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY HAVE STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN OR VVT HAS FAILED RESULTING IN TIMING CHAIN FAILURE THUS TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. KNOWN PROBLEM REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES AND YET MAZDA DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME THAT WITH THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS PROVIDED THEY ARE REFUSING REPAIR. THESE TIMING CHAINS ARE FAILING ON CARS WITH 19K-60K MILES, NOT WITHIN NORMAL MAINTENANCE. *TR
(MARCH/2011) LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 65K MILES. TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID OIL WAS LOW AND YVT NEEDED REPLACING. COST WAS AROUND 2500. NO REASON WHY OIL WAS LOW AND LAST CHANGED BY MAZDA LESS THAN 7500 MILES BEFORE. ALSO FULL SERVICE WAS DONE AT THAT TIME. (JUNE/2011)WHILE ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION, EMITTED HIGH PITCH WHIRRING. AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND IT IS BEING BLAMED ON BAD TURBO. NO REASONING BEHIND FAILURE OTHER THAN SAYING OIL CHANGE ISSUES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT MAZDA IS THE ONLY ENTITY THAT HAS EVER WORKED ON THIS CAR AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR FOR CHECK UPS. THERE ALSO APPEARS TO BE OTHERS WITH SAME REPORTED PROBLEMS TO BOTH TURBO AND YVT. *TR
MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY HOME WHEN THERE WAS A FUNNY BUZZING OR SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF HER 07 MAZDA CX7. SHE PULLED OVER AND THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM HER RIGHT FRONT TIRE AREA. SHE THEN HAD TO CALL OUR INSURANCE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO OUR LOCAL SERVICE REPAIR SHOP. LATER WE FOUND THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR WAS SEIZED AND THE BELT WAS MELTED. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH UPON THIS MATTER I AM FINDING THAT THERE IS AN ASTONISHING NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. COME TO FIND OUT MAZDA IS TELLING PEOPLE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TO COME IN AND PAY $1500- $2500 TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART REPLACED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! MY WIFE IS ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AT RUSH HOUR WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK AND MAZDA COULD HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE RESOLVED... HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO BE PUT INTO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS BEFORE MAZDA STEPS UP AND TAKES CARE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM.. *TR
A/C COMPRESSOR DIED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE OIL SHIELD COVER SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ENGINE OIL PLASTIC SHIELD COVER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE SCREWS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PLACED BACK CORRECTLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL COVER SHIELD WITH THE SAME DEFECTED PLASTIC AND THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MAZDA SENT A LETTER TO REPORT A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2007 AND 2008 CX-7 IN AUGUST 2010. THE A/C COMPRESSOR WAS CREATING ISSUES AND MAZDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 60,000 MILES. THE LETTER INDICATED THAT NO ACTION WAS NEEDED UNLESS YOU HEARD A STRANGE "NOISE". BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AND THOSE OF OTHERS, THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH NO WARNING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE A/C STOPS WORKING AND SMOKE BEGINS TO COME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE ISSUE CAN ALSO CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT AND THE CAR TO STALL SO HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SAFETY CONCERN AND NOT BE CONSIDERED A RECALL? THE WARRANTY IS ONLY EXTENDED TO 60,000 MILES AND THERE ARE MANY CASES WHERE THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR UNTIL AFTER 60,000 MILES. IS MAZDA JUST HOPING THAT MOST WILL HAPPEN AFTER 60K SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR? I HAD THE DEALER CHECK IT DURING A ROUTINE SERVICE BUT THEY WOULDN'T REPAIR IT UNLESS THERE WAS A "NOISE". WHILE ON VACATION, MY CAR A/C STOPPED WORKING AND STARTED TO MAKE THE "NOISE". THEN SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, FRIGHTENING MY KIDS IN THE CAR. WE WERE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT THE TIME AND HAD TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL ASIDE. WE BARELY MADE IT TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC BEFORE THE BELT BROKE. MY CAR HAD 65,000 MILES AND MAZDA WILL NOT PAY FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR, NOR THE COST TO RENT A CAR IN ITS PLACE. NOW I AM OUT ALMOST $1,700 FOR REPAIRS AND RENTAL FEES. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE IN AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT FOR MAZDA TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE? *TR
2007 GRAND TOURING MAZDA CX-7 HAS WELL KNOWN VVT ISSUE CAUSING OIL TO BURN, IN SPITE OF REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. WE ARE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND KNOW HOW CAR WAS MAINTAINED . TIMING CHAIN WENT AT 62K MILES, JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER THAT SERVICE, DROVE 1K MORE MILES AND NOTICED LOSS OF ACCELERATION. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER, AND THEY ADVISED WE NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE, WHICH THEY WOULD NOT COVER, ASIDE FROM A 20% GOODWILL OFFSET. SPOUSE WON'T LET ME OPERATE CAR ANY LONGER IN FEAR IT WILL BREAK DOWN CAUSING ACCIDENT. UNSAFE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CLUNKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT PROPERLY WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIMING BELT AND ADJUSTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX7 THAT HAS A BROKEN VVT TIMING SYSTEM. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AND THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 74,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH MAZDA AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS DEVASTATING AS A CONSUMER TO NOT HAVE THE SUPPORT OF MAZDA ON A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THEIR VEHICLE. I OWN A 2007 MAZDA CX7. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AT 29K MILES I HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL TANK REPLACED. AT AROUND 34K HAD TO HAVE THE TURBO LOOKED AT BECAUSE OF BLACK SMOKE BLOWING ON MY BUMPER, MAZDA REPLACED THE PIPES. MY PIPES WERE STILL SMOKING, HAD TO TAKE OFF WORK, TAKE CAR IN AGAIN BECAUSE OF BLACK SMOKE, MAZDA TRIED REPLACING RINGS IN TURBO, STILL BLOWIN BLUISH WHITE SMOKE, NOW GETTING TURBO REPLACED. I HAD THE AIR COMPRESSOR REPLACED A ABOUT A MONTH AGO. NOW I HAVE A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE AND I'M SCARED THE TIMING CHAIN WILL BREAK SOON. MAZDA NEEDS TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAINS ON THESE MODELS. WHILE DRIVING HOME WITH MY A/C ON, MY 2007 MAZDA CX7 BEGAN MAKING A TERRIBLE WHINING & GRINDING SOUND, FOLLOWED BY BILLOWS OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD, WHICH CONTINUED TO SMOKE FOR SOME TIME AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER. I BURNED MY HAND IN THE PROCESS. THE CAR WAS DEEMED UNSAFE AND UNDRIVEABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALER WHERE WE HAD ALSO PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT, SO ,THE NEXT MORNING I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER TELLING ME THE FIRE STARTED WITH THE A/C COMPRESSOR, WHICH THEN IGNITED THE DRIVE BELT. THAT'S WHY IT SMELLED SO AWFUL. HE SAID IT WAS "BURNED BADLY". THE PARTS WERE NOT IN STOCK, SO, THEY HAVE TO ORDER NEW PARTS. SO, I'M WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. NO OFFER FROM THE DEALER FOR A RENTAL. THEY ALSO DID NOT TELL ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2007 MAZDA CX7 A/C COMPRESSORS, WHICH I LEARNED ABOUT BY ONLINE RESEARCH. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA REGARDING THE RECALL. SO, IT TURNS OUT THAT MANY, MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND NOT ENOUGH IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 30K MILES AND RECENTLY HAD A FULL INSPECTION BY THE DEALER. I'M NOW WAITING TO FIND OUT IF THE DEALER WILL TRY TO GET ME TO PAY FOR THIS OR IF THEY WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY. 2007 MAZDA CX-7 - A/C COMPRESSOR WENT OUT (MILEAGE 43,090 AND OUT OF WARRANTY) ON WAY TO WORK ON 1/4/11 AROUND 7:30AM. MY CAR STARTED MAKING LOUD NOISES FROM THE ENGINE THE DAY BEFORE BUT THEIR WERE NO WARNING SIGNS IN MY CAR. ON MY WAY TO WORK A LOT OF WHITE SMOKE FROM MY TALE PIPES STARTED COMING OUT AND THE NOISE GOT LOUDER ALONG WITH A BURNING SMELL AND THEN MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR CUT OFF WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS LUCKY TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. $1250 TO REPLACE PARTS/TOW AND LABOR. SEEMS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MAZDA BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN ON A LOT OF FORUMS WHERE TONS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MAZDA ON RT. 42 SOUTH JERSEY NJ DIDN'T MENTION THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. END OF SUMMER SERVICE, I COMPLAINED ABOUT A SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE LIKE BURNED BREAKS THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME IT WAS NOTHING MAJOR AND THAT THEY WILL MONITOR IT ON THE NEXT SERVICE CALL. I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE ON MID DECEMBER AND THEY SERVICED THE TRANSMISSION, OIL CHANGE AND NO MENTION OF MAJOR PROBLEMS. ON DECEMBER 31ST ON MY WAY TO SILVERTHORNE FROM DENVER THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING ON A STEEP HILL SHUTTING DOWN POWER STEERING AND BREAKS, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AND TOW THE CAR BACK TO DENVER, I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT MY THREE YEAR OLD CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE WORTH $7,200 VVT ACTUATOR AND TIMING CHAIN WERE SHOT AND THE ENGINE IS DEAD. I TOOK THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE REGULARLY AND NOTHING WAS MENTIONED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, PLEASE WHAT CAN YOU DO? I ONLY HAVE 93K MILES AND THE CAR IS THREE YEARS OLD. *TR
IN APRIL 2009 THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED ON MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000 MILES ON THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR WITH AN AFTERMARKET COMPRESSOR BECAUSE THE DEALER INDICATED IT WAS NOT IN WARRANTY. SOME TIME LATER WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR TO 60,000 MILES. IN THE LETTER MAZDA EXPLAINED THAT IF THE COMPRESSOR HAD ALREADY BEEN CHANGED THEY WOULD REIMBURSE US FOR THE CHARGES. THE PAPERWORK HAD BEEN MISPLACED AT THE TIME SO WE DID NOT CONTACT MAZDA FOR REIMBURSEMENT. IN DECEMBER 2010 MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN DALLAS TEXAS WHEN SHE HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A BURNING SMELL STARTED COMING THROUGH THE VENTS, THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING INTO THE CAR, SHE HAD TO CROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD. THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING BEFORE SHE COULD GET OFF OF THE ROAD. A DRIVER STOPPED AND HELPED HER GET THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. SHE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME WHAT HAPPENED, I CALLED FOR A WRECKER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP NEARBY. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME AND TOLD ME IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $ 1,800.00 TO REPAIR THE CAR. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE MILEAGE HAD EXCEEDED ITS LIMITS FOR WARRANTY. HE LATER CALLED AND SAID THAT WHEN THE BELT BROKE IT HAD DAMAGED THE PULLEY ON THE CRANKSHAFT AND THAT FOR THE CAR TO RUN PROPERLY IT WOULD ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED THE CONSUMER DIVISION OF MAZDA AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 60,000 MILES AND THAT THE CAR HAD EXCEEDED ITS WARRANTY. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR AC COMPRESSORS TO FAIL IN SUCH A SHORT TIME UNLESS THERE IS A DEFECT. MAZDA KNEW THIS THAT IS WHY THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL THESE DEFECTIVE COMPRESSORS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED IN A WRECK CAUSED BY THE COMPRESSOR LOCKING UP. *TR
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING WHILE TRAVELING 70 M.P.H DOWN 40 EAST XMAS EVE EVENING. I PRAYED MY CHILD AND I WOULDN'T END UP DEAD WHILE TRYING TO CUT ACROSS TWO LANES TO GET OFF THE ROAD IN MY VEHICLE WITHOUT ENGINE POWER. *TR
WAS RETURNING TO CALIFORNIA FROM ARIZONA WHEN CAR STARTED MAKING AN AWFUL NOISE. I SUSPECTED IT WAS THE A/C COMPRESSOR AS I HAD READ ABOUT THEIR FAILURES ONLINE. I HAD JUST PASSED THE 60,000 MILE EXTENDED COVERAGE PERIOD, HOWEVER MY MAZDA DEALER WAS ABLE TO GET MAZDA TO COVER 95% OF THE CHARGES. I WAS NOT HAPPY THAT I HAD TO PAY ANYTHING AT ALL, BUT I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT MAZDA THREW ME A BONE. OTHERS HAVE NOT BEEN SO LUCKY. MAZDA SHOULD COMPENSATE THEM. *KB
AIRBAG SAFETY SENSORS FAILED IN MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7. AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. CALLED DEALERSHIP AD WAS TOLD IT COULD BE JUST BAGGAGE ON PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AND TO COME IN IF PERSISTS. IT PERSISTED AND TOOK VEHICLE IN TO BE INSPECTED. TECHNICIANS SAID SENSORS UNDERNEATH FRONT SEATS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED. AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT WAS RECALIBRATED BUT PASSENGER SIDE COULD NOT. AIRBAG SAFETY SENSORS NOT COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY OFFERED BY MAZDA AND MAZDA WILL NOT FIX SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE VEHICLE NO LONGER UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. TECHNICIANS COULD NOT GIVE ME A REASON WHY THE SENSORS FAILED AND WHY MAZDA DOES NOT COVER SAFETY ITEMS THAT CAN SAVE A LIFE.
WE HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX-7 WITH 67,000 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY, SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AND MOMENTS LATER THE ENGINE DIED. TURNS OUT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A TIMING CHAIN ON VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR FAILING AND DAMAGING THE ENGINE. WE HAVE READ MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD ISSUE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND VVT. CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHORTLY AFTER SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS POINTING TOWARD THE GROUND AND IT TOOK 3-5 TRIPS TO THE DEALER BEFORE IT WAS PROPERLY FIXED. IN JUNE 2010, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN EVAP SYSTEM LEAK WHICH COST $461.80. IN OCTOBER 2010, DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN OUTER TIE ROD END, IN ADDITION TO THAT AN ALIGNMENT WAS ALSO NEEDED. ONE WEEK LATER, THE AC COMPRESSOR FAILED. *JB
2007 MAZDA CX7, AT 57,211 MILES , AIR CONDITION COMPRESSOR FROZE, DISABLED CAR. ON 10/27/10 88 K MILES, CAR WOULD NOT START, INDEPENDENT GARAGE DETERMINED IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE.CALLED MAZDA CORP. FILE # 132495780. MAZDA REPRESENTATIVE ASKED TO TOW THE CAR TO A MAZDA DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS, AND MAZDA WILL SEND A FIELD MANAGER TO DETERMINE IF THE ENGINE FAILURE IS DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECT OR NOT. MAZDA MAY BE WILLING TO OFFER AFTER WARRANTY ASSISTANCE IN THE COST OF THE REPAIR OR EVEN COVER THE ENTIRE COST. CAR WAS TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALER ON 10/28/10 AM. AT 5 PM SAME DAY, DEALER CALLED MY WIFE AND SAID THAT THE CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE AND IT WILL COST $8000 + TO FIX IT, AND THE MAZDA CORP FIELD MANAGER SAID THAT BASED ON THE MAINTENANCE RECORD AND MILEAGE, MAZDA CORP WILL NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. I WAS NEVER ASKED TO PROVIDE ANY MAINTENANCE RECORDS AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THE FIELD MANAGER EVEN LOOKED AT THE CAR AS MAZDA REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE WOULD. THIER IS 195 COMPLAINS FILED WITH THE ODI IN REGARD TO 2007 CX7 COMPRESSOR AND/OR ENGINE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR AND THE ENGINE FAILURE ARE DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECT. MAZDA CORP. IS VERY WELL AWARE OF IT , AND NOT OWNING UP TO IT. MAZDA CORP IS NOT EVEN HONORING CARS UNDER WARRANTY IN MOST CASES, USING THE EXCUSE OF LAKE OF MAINTENANCE RECORDS AND SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. MAY BE MAZDA CORP. AND THE NHTSA ARE WAITING FOR SOME ONE TO DIE BEFORE THEY INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR ON THE 2007 CX 7. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 ON NOVEMBER 2, 2008 FROM TUSTIN MAZDA. FROM DAY ONE I HAVE EXPERIENCED AN INTERMITTENT METAL KNOCKING NOISE WHILE ACCELERATING. IT SOUNDS LIKE 3 OR 4 CLICKS AND I EXPERIENCE A SLIGHT LOSE OF POWER. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER MORE THAN 4 TIMES. SOMETIMES THEY HAVE IT FOR DAYS; THE LAST TIME FOR TWO WEEKS. THE FIRST FEW TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ABOUT A MONTH AGO THE DEALER SAID THEY FIXED IT. THEY ALSO SAID MY OIL WAS SLUDGY AND SUGGESTED A OIL FLUSH. I DID NOT OP FOR THE OIL FLUSH BECAUSE MY REGULAR MECHANIC SAID THEY ARE OVER-RATED AND A FEW OIL CHANGES SHOULD CLEAR IT UP AND THE OIL THE DEALER USED MAY BE PRONE TO SLUGGING UP. THE NOISE RETURNED ALMOST THE DAY I GOT THE CAR BACK. I RETURNED TWO TO THREE WEEKS LATER AND TOLD THE DEALER SERVICE PEOPLE THE NOISE WAS BACK. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS AND CHARGED ME $252.00 TO RUN TESTS. I WAS TOLD I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY IF THE WORK WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY OPENED THE ENGINE UP AND SAID THE ENGINE WAS SLUDGY. THEY TOLD ME MAZDA OF AMERICA WOULD NOT COVER THE WORK AND I MIGHT NEED MAJOR WORK. I AM SUPPOSEDLY LOSING COMPRESSION ON TWO OF THE FOUR CYLINDERS. BECAUSE I CANNOT PROVE I CHANGED MY OIL AND DO HAVE RECEIPTS BEYOND THE OIL CHANGES I HAD AT THE DEALER, THEY SAY IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36,000. I THINK IT HAD ABOUT 15,000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALER IS TRYING TO TELL ME THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM I HAD BEEN BRINGING IT IN FOR AND THE NOISE I HEAR NOW IS NEW. IT IS NOT, IT'S THE SAME! IN FACT I HEARD IT AGAIN THE DAY AFTER I BROUGHT IT HOME. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THE WEB AND IT APPEARS MAZDA USES THE SAME EXCUSE FOR A LOT OF SIMILAR ISSUES AND DO NOT COVER THE WORK UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO FIX A RECALL ISSUE I HAD IN REGARDS TO A LETTER THEY SENT ME. THEY SAID I DID NOT NEED THE WORK EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUES I HAVE DESCRIBED ARE ALSO DESCRIBED IN THE LETTER. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2007 MAZDACX7 IN FEB 2012.IVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 8 MTHS WHEN THE TURBO WENT OUT ALSO THE PISTON RINGS,FIRST THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CAME OFF THE TRACK COULD'NT LET WINDOW DOWN ANYMORE,THE THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE,CALLED MAZDA THEY SAID THE HANDLE WOULD COST 200.00 TO REPLACE,COULD'NT AFFORD TO FIX IT STILL BROKEN,THEN IN 10/20121 THE TURBO WENT OUT,CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND HE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP,SO I DID MAZDA MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST OVER 2500.00 TO FIX THE TURBO NO COUNTING WHAT ELSE IS WRONG WITH THE CAR BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED SMOKING SOO BAD BEFORE I LEFT THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP THE MECHANIC AT MAZDA SAID IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO FIX MY TRUCK BECAUSE WHO I BOUGT THE CAR FROM THEY SOLD ME A LEMON THAT I MIGHT AS WELL BUY ANOTHER CAR,THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIDEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THE MANAGER GAVE ME THE RUN-A-R IN ANOTHER I WOULD HAVE WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE,WELL FOR 3 WEEKS THEY GAVE ME THE COLD SHOULER,NASTY BEHAVIORS EVEN HANGING THE PHONE UP IN MY FACE,THAT HURTS THEY SOLD ME A RECALL CAR MAZDA SAID ANYHTING OVER 71000 MILES THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER WELL WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT ONLY HAD 65000 MILES SO THE DEALER SAID AND I CHECKED THE MILEAGE UPON BUYING THE CAR,IM STILL NOT UNDRSTANDING THERE'S SOMETHING MISSING FROM THIS PUZZLE,EVEN THE GRILL WASN'T RIGHT ON THE CAR AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE GRILL FELL DOWN.MY CAR SMOKES SOOO! BAD IT NUSAFE TO DRIVE AND I HAVE 2 GRANDDAUGHTERS THAT NEED TO GO TO SCHOOL. I'M AT MY ENDS WITH THAT DEALER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FROZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND BEGAN TO SMOKE ABNORMALLY. HE THEN ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR TO THOSE VEHICLE UNDER 60,000 MILES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD BE LIABLE FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE MILEAGE RESTRICTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TURBO PROBLEMS IN MY MAZDA CX-7. REPLACED FIRST TURBO IN OCTOBER 2010 TOTAL $$ 4500.00. NOW MY TURBO HAS FAILED FOR THE 2ND TIME IN JANUARY 2012. I HAVE ALL MY RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES, BUT JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER POSTS THAT YOU READ FROM OTHER MAZDA CX-7 OWNERS, MAZDA FINDS A REASON TO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY THAT THEY ACTUALLY BUILT A CAR THAT HAS A MAJOR DEFECT. I'VE READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE CX-7 TURBO'S THAT I CAN'T EVEN KEEP UP WITH THEM ALL. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE REPLACED AT LEAST 50 TURBOS IN THE CX-7'S IN THE LAST YEAR ALONE. ALSO SAID IT IS SOMETHING WITH A DEFECT IN THE LINES THAT CLOG. SAD THAT A CORPORATION LIKE THAT GETS AWAY WITH RIPPING OFF THE HARD WORKING CONSUMER. I WILL NEVER BUY A MAZDA AGAIN. *TR
2007 MAZDA CX7 BEGAN MAKING A RATTLING NOISE AT START-UP...NOISE WOULD GO AWAY QUICKLY AND CAR, WHICH HAS 27000 MILES AND HAS HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEM, RAN GREAT. DEALER SAYS IT'S A "MAJOR ISSUE", AT LEAST A BAD TIMING CHAIN, BUT SAYS THEY WILL FIX IT UNDER THE 60,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. SAW ON AN EDMONDS WEB SITE THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF CAR AND THAT MOST FOLKS HAVEN'T BEEN SO LUCKY WITH MAZDA. *TR

MY WIFE'S 2007 CX7 WAS IN A PARKING LOT. MY WIFE STARTED IT UP, CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR DIED WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAD 65,000 MILES ON IT (5000 OVER THE WARRANTY) AND WASN'T EVEN 3 YEARS OLD. WE HAD ALWAYS GOTTEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND HAD JUST HAD ONE THE WEEK BEFORE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALER. THE FIRST TIME I TALKED TO A SERVICE TECH HE MENTIONED THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. LATER, THEY EXPLAINED IT AS A VALVE (VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR?) FAILING AND CAUSING OIL CHAIN FAILURE (JUMPING THE GEARING). MY BILL ($7500 - NEW ENGINE) ONLY STATES INTERNAL PARTS FAILURE. THEY TRIED TO INDICATE THE OIL WAS DIRTY EVEN THOUGHT THE OIL WAS CHANGED LESS THAN A WEEK PRIOR. AFTER READING THROUGH MANY CX7 FORUMS ONLINE IT SEEMS THEY WERE TRYING TO BUILD A CASE FOR ENGINE SLUDGE TO COVER THEMSELVES. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER REPLACED INTAKE MANIFOLD SHUTTER VALVE AND HAD TO FLUSH AND RESEAL BRAKE LINES. WENT TO KERRY MAZDA OF KY TO ORIGINALLY PURCHASE A 2008 BECAUSE OF LOW FINANCE DEALS. THEY SHIFTED MY ATTENTION TO THE 2007 (3500 MILES) AND I AGREED BECAUSE OF THE CERTIFIED NEW (100,000 MILES) PROGRAM. WHEN I FOUND OUT I DIDN'T HAVE 100,000 MILE COVERAGE I WENT BACK TO DEALER AND WE PULLED THE PAPERWORK AND UNDER THE WARRANTY IT SAYS CERTIFIED AND ALSO REMAINDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. SO IT ENDS UP THEY SOLD ME A USED CAR AS NEW AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE FINANCING OF A NEW CAR - VERY SHADY. MAZDA CORPORATE WAS OF NO HELP EITHER, SIMPLY STATING THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER BUY MAZDA AGAIN. I WILL ALSO MAKE SURE I DON'T TRUST WHAT THEY SAY AND MAKE SURE I READ AND UNDERSTAND EVERY PAGE EVEN AS THEY TRY AND RUSH YOU THROUGH IT. I FEAR SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED WHEN THEIR CX7 SUDDENLY STOPS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. HOPEFULLY, MAZDA WILL ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BEFORE THAT HAPPENS.

WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH USING THE AIR CONDITIONER THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING, SECONDS LATER THE CONTACT NOTICED A BURNING SMELL INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 61000.
IN SEPTEMBER 2013 MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING IT... HEARD A LOUD, GRINDING, SCREECHING NOTICE.. AND SUDDENLY MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT MY CAR TO MAZDA.. 4 DAYS LATER THEY TELL ME THAT MY TURBOCHARGER BLEW.. AND THAT I HAVE DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. TOLD THEM I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2010 WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR.. WARRANTY CO WAS NOTIFIED... THEY SENT THEIR OWN INSPECTOR TO LOOK AT MY CAR.. A WEEK LATER THEY TELL ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE DAMAGE DUE TO EXCESSIVE SLUDGE IN MY ENGINE. AND.... THAT I MUST PRODUCE EVERY OIL CHANGE RECEIPT FROM 2010-2013 TO SHOW PROOF OF MAINTENANCE. I GAVE THEM ALL THE RECEIPTS I COULD GET... AND DECIDED TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH MYSELF ON THE ISSUE. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS.. WOW. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A MAJOR DEFAULT IN HOW THE TURBOCHARGER IN THE 2007/08 CX7... NUMEROUS OF SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE MAZDA WEBSITE DESCRIBING THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE TURBOS AND HOW THEY ARE VERY MUCH AWARE OF IT, AND.. THOUSANDS OF FORUMS, COMPLAINTS, ETC ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, MAZDA IS NOT OWNING UP TO THIS PROBLEM.. AND BLAMING THE CUSTOMER FOR NEGLIGENCE! 3 MONTHS LATER, 2 REJECTED APPEALS W/ THE WARRANTY COMPANY.. I AM STUCK WITH A CAR THAT NEEDS $7,000 WORTH OF REPAIRS, AND A 2YEAR CAR LOAN LEFT TO PAY. I AM BESIDE MYSELF.. AND MAZDA COULD CARE LESS. *TR

OUR 2007 CX-7 MAZDA DEVELOPED NOISE. WE RECEIVED LETTER FROM DEALERSHIP REGARDING POSSIBLE NEED TO FIX AC COMPRESSOR. ABOUT 10 DAYS LATER ON SEPT.5 2010 WE TOOK A TRIP AND DID NOT TURN ON THE AC BUT A LOUD NOISE DEVELOPED AND WE LOST ACCELERATION ABILITY. NO WARNING LIGHT EVER CAME ON. OUR CAR HAS ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT. TOWED IT TO MAZDA DEALERSHILP. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T TELL WHAT WAS WRONG. SEVERAL DAYS LATER THEY SAID THE TURBO HAD FAILED AND THE ENGINE IS RUINED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THEY SAID THAT THE ENGINE HAD NO OIL (REMEMBER, NO WARNING LIGHT) AND THEY FOUND SLUDGE, INDICATING NEGLECT. WE HAVE HAD OIL CHANGES AS REQUIRED. THEY HAVE NOT AGREED TO FIX IT. WE HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF SAME MODEL AND YEAR ONLINE ON EDMUNDS.COM. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND YEAR AND THE DEALERS RESPONSE IS TO DENY HONORING WARRANTY DUE TO "SLUDGE". OUR NEXT MOVE IS TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM OUT OF TOWN. *TR
