THE TIMING CHAIN IS MESSED UP ON MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 IT ONLY HAS 85K MILES ON IT. *TR
2007 CX7. NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 07. I TRAVEL ALOT, SO IT DOES HAVE 100K MILES ON IT, BUT SINCE DAY 1 IT'S BEEN AWFUL. REAR VIEW MIRROR KEPT FALLING OFF, AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHTS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON CONSTANTLY. DEALERSHIP HAD THE CAR FOR 21 DAYS TRYING TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, 2 DAYS LATER IT CAME BACK ON. VVT AND ACTUATOR WERE REPLACED AND SO WAS EGR. HARD TICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE AT START-UP AS WELL AS SITTING IDLE - WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIMING ASSEMBLY. CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, I CALLED MAZDA USA AND COMPLAINED, THEY FINALLY AGREED TO EAT THE COST OF THE REPAIR (THIS WAS AT 75K MILES) - BUT I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $700 IN LABOR CHARGES. 20K MILES LATER, THE TICKING NOISE IS BACK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY AND DOESN'T PRODUCE A READ-OUT ON THE COMPUTER CHECK. A/C NOT BLOWING THE COLD AIR THAT IT USED TO EITHER. NOT TO MENTION THE NUMEROUS RECALLS THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ~ HAD I NOT CHECKED ONLINE FOR RECALL EVENTS, I'D HAVE NEVER KNOWN. THERE WERE AT LEAST 4 THAT AFFECTED MY VEHICLE. I'VE SENT NUMEROUS EMAILS TO MAZDA USA REQUESTING SOMETHING BE DONE - THE ENTIRE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO ALL THE ISSUES. NOW AT 100K MILES AND MAJOR MECHANICAL ISSUES, TRADING IT IN ISN'T EVEN AN OPTION. NO RETURN EMAILS & NO RETURN PHONE CALLS FROM MAZDA. THIS IS THE 2ND MAZDA I'VE OWNED - NEVER AGAIN WILL I MAKE SUCH A FOOLISH PURCHASE. I'M A SALESPERSON MYSELF AND CAN'T BELIEVE MAZDA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.....ESPECIALLY ONE THAT COSTS $25K. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD MAKE A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AFTER STARTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,164.
MAZDA 2007 CX-7 ENGINE SEIZED. HEARD A CLICKING SOUND FOR A FEW SECONDS AT THE START-UP OF THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY AND WOULD GO AWAY. THIS WENT ON FOR A FEW WEEKS, BUT DID NOT OCCUR EVERYTIME THE CAR STARTED. CAR SEIZED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY, LOUD CLANGING NOISE FOLLOWED BY DECREASE IN SPEED, COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE PAST 15 MPH. CAR HAS 30,000 MILES, CALLED DEALER SINCE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER INDICATES THAT ENGINE AND TURBO NEED TO BE REPLACED AND HAS CONTACTED MAZDA FOR WARRANTY VERIFICATION. NO OIL IN CAR, AND MECHANIC REPORTS SLUDGE IN OIL PAN. DEALER REQUESTED RECEIPTS FOR ALL OIL CHANGES AND PARTS SINCE I PERFORMED ALL MAINTENANCE. I HAVE NO RECEIPTS. FROM READING THE HORROR STORIES FROM SIMILAR INDIVIDUALS ONLINE WITH SAME PROBLEM, MAZDA WILL MORE THAN LIKELY DECLINE MY WARRANTY AND CLAIM THAT I THE OWNER DID NOT PROPERLY MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PAST PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE ITS PURCHASE AND HAVE HAD WARRANTY SERVICE WORK PERFORMED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WITH ALL THE TIMES THAT MY VEHICLE WAS IN SERVICE, I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF A MAZDA SERVICE BULLETIN #01-002/08, WHICH ADDRESSES CERTAIN VIN # 2007 CX-7'S (MINE QUALIFIES) TO HAVE A VARIABLE VALVE TIMING REPLACED DUE TO NUMEROUS ENGINE FAILURES COINCIDING WITH THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED. THE BULLETIN INDICATES THAT ONLY CUSTOMERS WHO COMPLAIN OF ENGINE NOISE WILL BE TREATED WITH WARRANTY REPLACEMENT SERVICE. SINCE I HAD NO INCLINING OF THE ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE 2007 CX-7, I AM BEING PENALIZED FOR HAVING TO PAY FOR THE ENGINEERING DEFECTS WITH THE MAZDA 2007 CX-7. *TR
SINCE I BOUGHT MY MAZDA CX-7 I HAVE SEEN INTERMITTENT PASSENGER AIR BAG ON AND OFF. NOW AT 89,000 MILES THE DRIVER AIR BAG CAME ON TWO WEEKS AGO AND WENT OFF BUT HAVE NOT SEEN IT COME BACK ON SINCE THEN. *TR
MAZDA CX-7 WITH LESS THAN 90,000 HAS ENGINE LIGHT ON DUE TO BAD VARIABLE ACTUATOR FOR THE ENGINE AND BAD OIL CONTROL VALVE. I HAVE HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. THE COST OF REPAIR IS $1700. LAST YEAR I SPENT $3000.00 DUE TO AIR CONDITIONER AND OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR WITH LESS THAN 60,000. *TR
MY MAZDA 2007 CX7 STALLED ON ME AND THEN DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ON MONDAY THEY TOLD ME THE OIL WAS LOW AND I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I MAINTAIN MY CAR AS REQUIRED AND THERE WERE NO SIGNALS INDICATING MY OIL OR ANYTHING ELSE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2007 AND THIS IS THE FIRST MAJOR INCIDENT I HAVE EVER HAD. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT GIVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS BUT TO BUY A NEW ENGINE FOR 6,400.00. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. *TR
MAZDA CX7 2007 ISSUE WITH THE AC COMPRESSOR/ CONDENSOR. *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7 HAD FAILURE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR. BEARINGS FREEZE UP IN THE COMPRESSOR UNIT. THIS CAUSES PULLEY TO STOP TURNING AND PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE DRIVE BELT. THIS CAUSES CAR TO OVERHEAT AND BATTERY TO LOSE CHARGE BECAUSE ALTERNATOR AND WATER PUMP ARE NOT SPINNING. THEY DO NOT SPIN BECAUSE THE DRIVE BELT SLIPS OVER THEM BECAUSE AIR CONDITIONER PULLEY HAS SEIZED UP. THIS HAPPENS AROUND 34,000 MILES AND GENERALLY WITHIN MONTHS OF THE EXPIRATION OF THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO MAZDA. MAZDA REFUSES TO COVER REPAIR UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AS IT IS NOT AN ESSENTIAL PART - EVEN THOUGH THE CAR BECOME UNDRIVEABLE. *TR
THE SUV BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN STOPPED TO LOOK AT IT THE BELT HAD BEGAN TO MELT DUE TO THE AC COMPRESSOR LOCKING UP. WHEN WENT TO DEALER TO PURCHASE NEW COMPRESSOR PARTS REP STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE FOUND SEVERAL REPORTS OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS. CHANGED A/C COMPRESSOR, DRYER RECEIVER, AND BELT. YES THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS COST $420 AND IT WAS $90 TO RECHARGE THE SYSTEM (MAZDA QUOTED $450 FOR LABOR, HUSBAND IS MECHANIC SO HE DONE THE WORK). HAD THE BELT BROKE THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED ME TO BE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY TODDLER IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY ABOUT 50,000 ON IT AND A/C COMPRESSORS SHOULD LAST WAY LONGER THAN THAT. WHEN CALLED MAZDA THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE THE CAR 45 MILES TO THE DEALER PAY FOR AN INSPECTION AND THE DEALER WOULD SEND THEM A REPORT. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS FAR SO WE BOUGHT THE PARTS FROM MAZDA AND DONE THE WORK. *TR
AFTER DRIVING ROUGHLY 38,000 MILES, MY MAZDA CX-7'S A/C STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. IT STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR AND STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING SOUND. WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO A PLACE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR, A BURNING SMELL BEGAN TO ARISE. IT WAS EVENTUALLY FOUND THAT THE COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WERE METAL PARTS IN THE COMPRESSOR. THIS CAUSED HUGE DAMAGES TO THE CAR AND IT WAS ESTIMATED TO COST ROUGHLY $17,000 IN DAMAGES. IT HAS YET TO BE FIXED, BUT THE CAR HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN FOR 38,000 MILES AND HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE INTERVALS. THERE WAS ALMOST NO INDICATION OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING BECAUSE I DID NOT TURN ON THE A/C OFTEN. *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7 BEGIN MAKING LOUD CLICKING NOISE IN AUGUST 2010. TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR FACILITY AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOON, TIMING CHAIN WAS LOOSE, AND TWO ENGINE MODULES WERE GIVING FAULTY READINGS. GOT A 2ND OPINION FROM A MAZDA CERTIFIED TECH WITH SAME ADVICE. HAVE ALL REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE REGARDS TO SHOW THAT IT WAS NOT A RESULT OF VEHICLE NEGLECT. VEHICLE HAS 79,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN USED FOR PRIMARILY HIGHWAY TRAVEL. ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH COMPRESSOR WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE AT MY OWN COST. *TR
THE CLUTCH WENT OUT ON THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR. CALLED MAZDA APPARENTLY IT IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM. MAZDA QUOTED ABOUT A $1,000 FIX. $30,000 POS! *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7 GRAND TOURING. (FAMILY CAR)! 43,636 MILES(OUT OF WARRANTY) FIRST OFF, MY WIFE AND I HAVE A HAD OUR CAR SERVICED AND OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES! AND WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE A/C NOT WORKING IN OVER 90 DEGREES TEMPERATURES. AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY 2 DEALERSHIPS THAT THE CX-7'S A/C DOESN'T WORK WELL OVER 90 DEGREES. LIVING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ITS OVER 90 DEGREES FOR ALMOST 6 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. A COUPLE DAYS AGO, MY WIFE, YOUNG DAUGHTERS AND I WERE DRIVING OUR CAR TO A DESTINATION ONLY 3 MILES FROM HOME. (THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING ALL DAY, IN THE GARAGE.) WE HAD THE A/C ON HALF WAY(85 DEGREES OUT). ABOUT READY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND ONLY GOING 60 MPH. THE AIR BLOWING OUT OF THE A/C STARTED BLOWING HOT, EASILY OVER 100 DEGREES. THE A/C STARTED WHINING, THOUGH IT WAS A BELT SLIPPING. IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE A/C AND FAN MOTOR. AND THEN BEGAN TO SMELL BURNING PLASTIC. DROVE 1/4 MILE TO DESTINATION AND RIGHT BEFORE PARKING IT, A PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A/C VENTS. I OPENED THE HOOD TO PUT OUT THE FIRE, I THOUGHT WOULD BE THERE. BUT THE CAR JUST KEPT SMOKING WITH NO VISIBLE FLAME. SMOKED-NO IT "PLUMED", FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. I CALLED AAA , AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP. WHEN I TOLD THE SERVICE WHAT HAPPENED, HE SMILED AND SHOOK HIS HEAD AND TOLD ME THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR BLEW. WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING! HE SAID, HE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MAZDA HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PROBLEM YET. AND THAT HE HAS HAD A LOT OF UPSET CX-7 OWNERS SPENDING OVER $2500 BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T TURN OFF THE A/C WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING. RESULTING IN TIMING CHAINS, BLOWN ENGINES AND OTHER EXPENSIVE PARTS GOING OUT DUE TO THE STRESS CAUSED ON THE A/C BELT WHEN THE COMPRESSOR BLOWS. AND IF I HADN'T BEEN READING BLOG AFTER BLOG ONLINE SINCE 2007 WHEN WE GOT THE CAR, ABOUT THE A/C COMPRESSOR PROBLEM, I WOULD OF BEEN PAYING $2500 OR MORE TOO! ONE DAY OF SERVICE AND $1025 LATER. THE CAR SEEMS TO BE FINE. *TR
I OWN A 2007 MAZDA CX7 AND IT WAS BEEN AT THE DEALER EVERY MONTH THIS SUMMER AND I'M ON MY SECOND LONER CAR. THE TROUBLE STARTED LAST SUMMER WITH PINGING AND TURBO LAG. THAT SEEMED TO STOP AND THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. BUT THIS SUMMER WE HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE ISSUES. 1. TRANSFER CASE LEAK. FIXED. 2. ENGINE STABILIZER LEAK. FIXED. 3. VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR VVTA. CURRENTLY IN SHOP. CAR LOUDLY "GROWLS" TO LIFE, SQUEAKY BELT, DIFFICULTY STARTING, TOLD BY DEALER THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE ENGINE TROUBLE IF NOT FIXED. THIS HAS ALL BEEN SINCE JULY!!! WE ARE JUST SHY OF 30K AND THE WARRANTY EXPIRES NEXT MONTH. I AM VERY AFRAID THAT SOMETHING ELSE WILL GO WRONG AND WE WILL END UP PAYING FOR IT. UPON READING A FEW CX7 WEB SITES AND BLOGS, IT HAS BECOME CLEAR THAT THIS VVTA ISSUE WILL LEAD TO A TIMING BELT FAILURE AND ENGINE LOSS. I HAVE A LITTLE LESS THEN 30,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND BOUGHT IT NEW. UNFORTUNATELY THIS SEEMS TO BE A RELATIVELY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THE 2007 MODEL. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL SO THAT THIS DEFECT CAN BE ADDRESSED PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE AND NOT AT OWNERS EXPENSE. THANK YOU! *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7. 47,000 MILES. CLEAN ENGINE AND CLEAN OIL PER THE SERVICE DESK AT THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP. PIN RELATED TO TIMING CHAIN BROKE, WHICH CAUSED THE TIMING CHAIN TO BREAK AND RUINED THE ENTIRE ENGINE. MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY ROAD AND ANOTHER VEHICLE ALMOST COLLIDED WITH ME AS I SLOWLY TRIED TO MOVE IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT STOPPED ALTOGETHER. WHILE THE COMPANY HAS YET TO DECIDE IF THEY WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, I STILL BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ONLINE ABOUT OTHER MAZDA CX-7 OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN MY CAR STARTED FLOWING MASSIVE AMOUNT OF SMOKE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. THANK FULLY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND BACK TO THE DEALER. TELLING ME THAT MY A/C COMPRESSOR WENT. COSTING ABOUT 2000$ TO FIX!. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION, I REALIZED THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH 07' AND 08' MAZDA CX-7 CARS. I BELIEVE MAZDA FIXED THE PROBLEM ON NEWER CX-7S BUT COMPLETELY IGNORED THE OLDER MODELS. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS! *TR
WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULDN'T DEPRESS, AND I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR QUICKLY. FORTUNATELY I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES WHICH WORKED. THE CAR GOES INTO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP TOMORROW FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE IS A MAZDA CX-7, 2007 MODEL, WITH APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I OWN A 2007 MAZDA CX 7,WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE AC. I HAD BEEN TOLD IT WAS NORMAL AND FINE. LAST NIGHT I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN SOMEONE ON THE ROAD INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS SMOKING. MY HUSBAND CAME TO WHERE I WAS AT AND FOUND OUT THAT MY AC COMPRESSOR HAD LOCKED UP CAUSING MY CAR TO NOT RUN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY IT MAY NOT BE COVERED AS IT IS NOT A POWERTRAIN ISSUE. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, IT IS. WITHOUT THE AC COMPRESSOR THE CAR WILL NOT WORK OR DRIVE THEREFORE IT IS A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM, IT WONT DRIVE AND IT INOPERABLE. I THINK MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART AS IT LEADS TO SAFETY ISSUES, OR MAYBE THEY SHOULD REPAIR THIS PART FOR NO CHARGE. I AM NOW ONE UNHAPPY MAZDA OWNER...... *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK DURING RUSH HOUR. SMOKE BEGAN POURING OUT OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT OUTSIDE VEHICLE AND INTO THE CABIN. FEARING AN ENGINE FIRE, PULLED OFF TO LEFT SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. OPENED HOOD (WITH MUCH TREPIDATION) TO OBSERVE PROBLEM. SMOKE CONTINUED TO EMANATE FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR SERPENTINE BELTS - NO OBVIOUS FIRE. LET VEHICLE SIT FOR 5 MINUTES AND RESTARTED - SAME PROBLEM. SHUT OFF A/C, AND SMOKE AND NOISE DISCONTINUED. IDLED FOR 5 MINUTES - NO MORE APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH A/C OFF. PULLED BACK ON TO HIGHWAY AND CONTINUED TRIP HOME. DID SOME ONLINE INVESTIGATION AND DEDUCED THAT A/C COMPRESSOR HAD SEIZED. ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE OF WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, INCLUDING CATASTROPHIC FAILURES FOR OTHER MAZDA CX7 OWNERS. ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE OF A COMPLETE COMPONENT REDESIGN FOR 2008 MODEL YEAR. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER FOLLOWING MONDAY - A/C COMPRESSOR HAD SEIZED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT TO THE TUNE OF $1300 AT MY COST (12,000 KM OVER WARRANTY). NO HELP FROM THE DEALER, AND NO HELP FROM MAZDA. ZOOM-ZOOM APPEARS TO REPRESENT HOW QUICKLY MAZDA RETREATS FROM CUSTOMER SUPPORT. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX 7. I BOUGHT IT NEW IN FEBRUARY OF 2007, SO THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. TWO MAJOR THINGS HAVE HAPPENED TO MY CAR WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS ONE OF WHICH SERIOUSLY PUT MY SAFETY IN JEOPARDY. I WILL START WITH, TWO MONTHS AGO, MY AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT COMPLETELY. THE AIR COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEN, ABOUT A WEEK AGO AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 75 (GOING ABOUT 70 MPH), THE ACCELERATION ON MY CAR COMPLETELY WENT OUT. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER THE 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND PULL THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE. AFTER I TURNED MY CAR OFF, IT NEVER CRANKED AGAIN AFTER THAT. LONG STORY SHORT, I TOOK MY CAR INTO JIM ELLIS MAZDA IN MARIETTA, GA AND THEY SAID THERE WAS INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY. THEY COULDN?T EVEN TELL ME WHAT EXACTLY WENT WRONG OR REALLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR ME. THEY JUST SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE KICKER TO THIS STORY IS, WHEN I WENT IN A COUPLE MONTHS AGO TO GET MY AIR FIXED, I ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE ENGINE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LOUD. THE SAID IT WAS COMPLETELY FINE AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. WELL TWO MONTHS LATER THIS HAPPENED. I HAVE TALKED TO MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WILL OFFER NO ASSISTANCE FOR FIXING MY CAR (WHICH I HAVE BEEN QUOTED $8,000 TO FIX!). I WAS TOLD THAT MAZDA HAD REVIEWED MY CASE AND I WAS DECLINED BECAUSE THERE WAS SLUDGE AROUND THE ENGINE, WHICH APPARENTLY GIVES THEN REASON FOR NO ASSISTANCE. THEY SAID THAT IS PROOF THAT MY CAR IS NOT MAINTENANCED ON A REGULAR BASIS, HOWEVER I HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF THAT IT IS MAINTENANCED REGULARLY. THEY JUST DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE. *TR
FOR QUITE AWHILE I HAD BEEN HEARING A "TICKING" NOISE WITH MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7..BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN LAFAYETTE, LA. TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY CHECKED IT OUT, UPDATED RECALLS IN AFFECT, STATED THEY FOUND NOTHING. CONTINUED TO HEAR IT OFF AND ON, HAD MY OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. ON JULY 10, 2010 MY CAR BROKE DOWN (4 YRS OLD, 33,000 MILES) HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER IN BEAUMONT, CLOSE TO WHERE IT HAD BROKEN DOWN. THE SERVICE DEPT. ASKED FOR MY SERVICE RECORDS AFTER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ENGINE.. DID NOT HAVE EVERY RECEIPT DUE TO DEALER IN AREA CLOSING WITH NO RECORDS THERE, BUT PROVIDE THE LAST FEW.. AFTER TAKING AN "IMAGE" AND SENDING IT TO MAZDA, IT WAS DETERMINED THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAD EXCESSIVE "SLUDGE" AND WANTED ME TO PAY FULL COST OF A NEW ENGINE/MOTOR. NO ONE WANTED TO LISTEN TO ME..I DO REMEMBER THAT WHEN MY OIL WAS CHANGED, THE MECHANIC HAD TOLD ME IN THE PAST THAT IT SEEMED TO HAVE "SLUDGE", BUT THAT WAS ONLY BETWEEN 3,000 MILES. I HAD TAKEN CARE OF MY CAR, AND THEY WERE TELLING THAT IT HAD "POOR MAINTENANCE" AND WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY! *TR

THE CAR BASICALLY BEGAN SHUTTING DOWN. ALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. NO POWER STEERING. THIS HAPPENED AT 2 AM INSIDE OF THE BASE A BLOCK AWAY FROM OUR HOUSE, WE WERE LUCKY TO COAST INTO OUR SIDE OF OUR HOUSE. UPON OPENING MY HOOD ? THE ENGINE WAS EXTREMELY HOT THE WATER WAS BOILING AND THE SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER WAS EXTREMELY HARD. WE HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE CLOSEST MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THE A/C STOPPED WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THERE WAS DISTINCT BURNING SMELL FROM VENTS. THE A/C COMPRESSOR BURNED OUT AND FAILED AND WHEN THE CAR WAS STOPPED, IT REFUSES TO START BACK UP. APPARENTLY, FAILED A/C COMPRESSOR MAKES THE CAR INOPERABLE. A/C COMPRESSOR AND THE BELT ARE BEING REPLACED. *TR

THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNLESS THE CONTACT COULD PROVIDE AN INVOICE LISTING EACH TIME THE OIL WAS CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.

AFTER OWNING IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING WHEN I HEARD A POP AND CLANKING SOUND. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE UNTIL MY CAR STARTED LOSING POWER HOWEVER I MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO WORK. NO LIGHTS CAME ON, NOTHING. OUR WARRANTY COVERAGE WAS DENIED TWICE. TO THIS DAY, WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR ENGINE. THERE HAVE BEEN SUGGESTIONS AND ALSO WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TURBO DEFINITELY WENT. HOWEVER THE BULLETIN CLEARLY STATES "ONLY TO VERIFIED CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ON VEHICLES ELIGIBLE FOR WARRANTY REPAIR." GREAT! IT CAN BE FIXED, MAZDA SAYS SO! OH, WHAT? NOT SO FAST. MAZDA TECH SAYS THERE IS A SLUDGING PROBLEM THEREFORE VOIDING THE WARRANTY. BUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS IT CAN BE FIXED DUE TO MY COMPLAINT. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I DISCOVER THAT THE TURBO SYSTEM IN THIS CAR HAS AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM CAUSING WAY! TO MUCH HEAT FOR NORMAL USE, THEREFORE BURNING OIL, THEREFORE CAUSING SLUDGE. MAZDA USES THIS "EVIDENCE OF SLUDGE" CAUSED BY THEM! TO CLAIM THAT THE OWNER DID NOT MAINTAIN THEIR VEHICLE, THEREFORE "YOUR WARRANTY HAS BEEN VOIDED." I COULD TELL THE A\C COMPRESSOR WAS NOT TURNING SO I TURNED THE A\C OFF AND MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION ABOUT 3 MILES LATER.I TOOK THE CAR INTO MAZDA TODAY ONLY TO FIND OUT THE 36 MONTH TIME PERIOD HAD EXPIRED ON 2/20/2010. THE TECH WRITER ALMOST VERBATIM DESCRIBED TO ME WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I TOLD HIM I BELIEVED THE COMPRESSOR HAD FAILED. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A TSR ON THIS PRODUCT. *TR

I FAX'D COPIES OF OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS. MAZDA NORTH AMERICA DENIED WARRANTY CLAIM SAYING MY OIL RECEIPTS WERE UNVERIFIABLE. MNA TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT VERIFY MY RECEIPTS. THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS "SLUDGE" AND THAT CAUSED IT TO BREAK AND I HADN'T TAKEN CARE OF IT. IT WAS A LEASED VEHICLE WITH ONLY 3 MONTHS LEFT TO PAY. HAD JUST STARTED A NEW JOB AFTER BEING UNEMPLOYED AND HAD TO RENT A CAR COSTING $650 AND THEN GO BUY A KIA CAUSING EXTREME FINANCIAL & EMOTIONAL DURESS. I TOLD THE SERV MGR THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND FOUND OUT THESE CARS WERE ENGINEERED INCORRECTLY CAUSING THEM TO GET TOO HOT CAUSING "SLUDGE", THAT I KNEW HE KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE BECAUSE A SERVICE BULLETIN HAD BEEN RELEASED JAN 08 STATING THE EXACT PROBLEM, AND MAZADA WAS TRYING TO AVOID A RECALL. HE STATED THAT IT WAS "MAZDA NORTH AMERICA", AND NOT HIM AND IF IT WERE UP TO HIM HE WOULD FIX THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY. I TOLD HIM I WAS UNDER EXTREME DURESS AND THAT MAZDA SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THE CAR. THEY REFUSED SO HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP.AND WALK AWAY. NOW MAZDA SAYS I OWE THEM $5,000. I HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX7. A/C PROBLEMS, I HAVE TALK TO THE DEALER AND SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. STOP COOLING, SMOKE COMING FROM THE VENTS AND ENGINE. MOST ONLY HAVE 36,000- 50,000 MILES. THE COST OF REPAIRS ARE $1000+. THE HAS HAD MANY CARS COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2007 MAZDA CX-7 WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD A 60 MPH THE MOTOR SHUT DOWN AND LOST ALL POWER. THE CAR HAS 52,000 MILES ON IT, AND IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MAZDA DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF WAITING THEY INFORMED ME THAT MAZDA CORP WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO ENGINE SLUDGE. THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED AT INTERVALS OF 3000 TO 3500 MILES. WHY WILL THEY NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IF SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL? I BOUGHT MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 FEBRUARY 2007 WITH 19,000 MILES. AT THE 20,000 MILE MARK I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO GET THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER REPLACED, THANKFULLY MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT GOT TAKEN CARE OF..AT 35,000 MILES I BEGAN HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES, WITH THE WINDOWS & DOORS, I EVENTUALLY WENT OUTSIDE OF THE MAZDA CORPORATION TO FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I ENCOUNTERED THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF ALL ON MAY 30, 2010 AT 39,000 MILES AND A MERE 16 MONTHS AFTER HAVING PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WHILE ON A TRIP OUT OF TOWN WITH MY FAMILY FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, THE A/C SUDDENLY WENT OUT AND A STRONG BURNING SMELL BEGAN TO FILL THE CAR.THE SMELL WAS SOO SUDDEN AND STRONG THAT MY SEVERE ASTHMA ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BEGIN TO ACT UP. FORTUNATELY,WE WERE CLOSE TO OUR DESTINATION AND WERE ABLE TO STOP WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. WE FIGURED WE WOULD LET THE CAR REST AND DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR 24 HRS. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO TURN IN ON, IT WOULD NOT START AND THERE WAS THICK WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. WE OPENED THE HOOD AND A GIANT CLOUD OF SMOKE FILLED THE AIR ALONG WITH THE REEK OF BURNING RUBBER. BEING IT WAS MEMORIAL DAY WE STRUGGLED TO FIND A MECHANIC SHOP THAT WAS OPEN TO ASSIST US AND TO TOW OUR CAR. UPON DIAGNOSIS IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR HAD DIED OUT HAVING BURNED MULTIPLE COMPONENTS OF MY CAR, THE FINAL COST OF THESE REPAIRS IS OVER $1600 INCLUDING A $1200 COMPRESSOR. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL MAZDA CORPORATE AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SEEMED TO WIPE THEIR HANDS CLEAN OFF THIS INCIDENT EVEN THOUGH UPON RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE, ONE THAT UPON DISCUSSING ON FORUMS THEY SEEM TO BE VERY AWARE OF. I DO NOT HAVE $1600 AT HAND THUS MY VEHICLE REMAINS OUT OF TOWN WHERE IT BROKE DOWN. DRIVING MY CAR (2007 CX-7 WITH 29,500 MILES ON IT - STILL "SUPPOSED" TO BE UNDER WARRANTY) AS NORMAL ON A RELATIVELY HOT AND MUGGY DAY WITH A/C ON (MAY 27, 2010). ROLLED TO A STOP AT A LIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF AN EXIT RAMP, AND THE CAR SHUTTERED AND DIED. POPPED INTO NEUTRAL, STARTED UP, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT DIED AGAIN. I SHUT OFF THE A/C AND PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN TO LISTEN TO THE CAR, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AGAIN AND IT STARTED, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT DROVE JUST FINE. ENGINE TEMP WAS FINE. I DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT A/C TO GET HOME SAFELY. MY HUSBAND AND I SWITCHED CARS (HE HAS A MAZDA 3, WE ARE (WERE?) MAZDA LOVERS). HE DROVE IT WITHOUT A/C FOR THE WEEK, AND ON A LIMITED BASIS UNTIL WE COULD GET IT TO A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. MORNING OF JUNE 3, CAR HAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF ENGINE AFTER DRIVING 2-3 MILES FROM HOME. ONLY THE FAN WAS RUNNING. THERE IS AN AWFUL SOUND THAT COMES ON IF THE CAR RUNS WITH ANY OF THE AIR/CIRCULATION COMPONENTS. ENGINE TEMP IS STILL IN THE NORMAL RANGE. IT IS CURRENTLY AT A DEALERSHIP AND WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK, BUT MY SUSPICION IS THAT IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE A/C COMPRESSOR/CLUTCH/BELT SET UP. NOT GOOD. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED THE VVT ACTUATOR AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER TWO DAYS, WHILE DRIVING THE CONTACT NOTICED THE NOISE AGAIN SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER; THE DEALER REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT AND PULLEY SYSTEM. THE FAILURE CONTINUED, THE NOISE WORSENED AND THE VEHICLE LOST MOMENTUM WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING; THE DEALER THEN STATED THAT SHE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, NEW TURBO, NEW PULLEY AND VVT ACTUATOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ASKED THAT SHE SUBMIT MAINTENANCE RECORDS BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

ANOTHER DRIVER TURNED IN FRONT OF ME, FAILING TO YIELD THE RIGHT-OF-WAY. I WAS DOING THE SPEED LIMIT (45 MPH) UPON ENTERING THE INTERSECTION. WHEN MY CX-7 MADE CONTACT WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HER MINIVAN, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. MY SHOULDER, NECK AND HIP (I STILL NEED SURGERY ON ALL 3 AREAS) WERE INJURED IN THIS ACCIDENT. *TR

FROM 4/14/10 THRU 4/22/10 MY WELL MAINTAINED MAZDA CX-7 WITH 19,767 MILES WAS SERVICED AT ROHRICH MAZDA IN PITTSBURGH, PA FOR A TIMING CHAIN REPAIR. ON 5/11/10 WITH 20,000 ON THE VEHICLE, WHILE DRIVING TO A LOCAL SUPERMARKET, MY WIFE BEGAN TO SMELL GASOLINE. AFTER 1-2 MILES OF DRIVING WITH THIS SMELL, THERE WAS A LOUD "POP" AND THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE WITH FLAMES SHOOTING OUT FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. ERIE INSURANCE ASSIGNED A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR WHO DETERMINED THE FIRE'S CAUSE TO BE "UNDETERMINED" DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS. HOWEVER, HIS OPINION WAS THERE WAS IMPROPER REASSEMBLY WITH THE RECENT REPAIR. ROHRICH MAZDA DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY CLAIMING IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REPAIR & RECOMMENDED WE FOLLOW UP WITH MAZDA DIRECTLY. TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE ALSO DAMAGED IN THE PROCESS. FORTUNATELY NO OTHER INJURIES OCCURRED. THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED TO THIS CAR WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 MAZDA CX7 WITH CIRCULATING FAN ON SUDDENLY HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND HAD A LOT OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER RIGHT FRONT HOOD. THERE WEREN'T ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH & THE TEMP GAUGE READ NORMAL. CAR HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS AT DEALER PREVIOUS WEEK FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. LOCAL MAZDA DEALER ADVISED A/C COMPRESSOR, DRYER, EXPANSION VALVE, PAG OIL & FREON ARE ALL NEEDED FOR $1,400 AND IT WOULD TAKE A 1/2 DAY TO REPAIR ONCE THEY HAD THE PARTS. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND MAZDA SHOULD COVER WITH A RECALL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING WITH FAMILY, AIR CONDITIONER SUDDENLY STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR. ALL ATTEMPTS FAILED TO ADJUST AIR CONDITIONING. THIS FAILURE HAS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE BUT IS STILL NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE NEXT DAY IT BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. THE SUSPECTED DEFECT IS THE A/C COMPRESSOR, IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED OR REPLACED. *TR

THERE WAS ALSO SMOKE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND IT BEGAN CIRCULATING THROUGHOUT THE AIR VENTS INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION OBSERVED SPARKS UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT DEACTIVATED THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH NO ADDITIONAL FAILURES. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE OPERATING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR AND BELTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS REPAIRING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
I HAVE A 2007 CX7 MAZDA AND APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO, WHILE @ A STOP SIGN THE ENGINE REVVED UP. THREE DAYS LATER @ A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE AGAIN REVVED UP WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES. THIS TIME THE CAR MOVED FORWARD TOWARDS THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND THE CAR CAME BACK TO NORMAL. THEN ON APRIL 21ST, WHILE REVERSING THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF THE LOCAL LIBRARY, THE CAR AGAIN REVVED UP AND WAS REVERSING. MY FOOT WAS AGAIN ON THE BRAKES. AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER WAS INSTALLED. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE THIRD OCCURRENCE. A NEW ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS BEING INSTALLED ALTHOUGH THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNKNOWN. *TR
