IS RECALLING 2,323 OWNER-INSTALLED ROOF-MOUNTED FIT KITS, MODELS 3068 AND 3069, MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JANUARY 1, 2008 AND FEBRUARY 28, 2009 THAT ARE USED WITH THULE PODIUM FOOT PACKS, MODELS 460 AND 460R. THESE FIT KITS WERE SOLD AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE BOLT(S) USED TO SECURE THE FOOT TO THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED TO A HARDNESS THAT MAY CAUSE THE BOLT(S) TO BE BRITTLE AND POTENTIALLY BREAK UNDER STRESS. Consequence : THIS MAY RESULT IN THE BOLT(S) SNAPPING OFF DURING USE OR WITHOUT A LOAD. THE UNSECURED RACK AND LOAD CAN THEN COME LOOSE WHILE DRIVING CREATING A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH. CAR HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR 2 FULL DAYS WITH NO USE. I WALKED OUTSIDE TO PLACE TRASH IN TRASH BIN AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR. I QUICKLY RAN INSIDE, GRABBED FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE.IT LOOKS LIKE THE FIRE ORIGINATED AT THE WINDOW MOTOR OR THE WINDOW SWITCH PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY I HEAR A LOUD NOISE SOUNDED LIKE I WAS IN A BIG RIG TRUCK THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT B4 I COULD PULL OFF OF HIGHWAY IT CUT OFF RIGHT IN THE HIGHWAY I HAD MY GRANDSON WITH ME AND THANK GOODNESS THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC OR WE PROBABLY WOULD'VE BEEN DEAD
I ALREADY HAVE A COMPLAINT BUT I FORGOT TO ADD THAT MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WON'T COME OFF ALONG WITH MY ENGINE LIGHT IT WON'T EVEN CRANK SINCE WE BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY BECAUSE IDH THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED AND TRYING TO ASK FOR A RIDE EVERYDAY! THANK YOU SO MUCH
I DID RECEIVE 2 AIRBAG RECALLS ,I DID VISIT MAZDA DEALERS FOR REPAIR , THEY DID FIXED ,AND WHEN I CHECKED :RESULT 0 UNREPAIRED RECALLS.BUT I RECEIVED STILL MANY RECALL LETTERS.PLEASE REVIEW AND STOP THOSE LETTERS WHICH BOTHER ME.I 'M SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP. HAVE A GOOD DAY
WHEN DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, I TRY TO TURN IT OFF BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE IS STIFF AND WILL NOT DISENGAGE. THE ONLY WAY TO DISENGAGE IS BY PUSHING THE ON OFF BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL. *TR

THESE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS AND EVEN INSIDE THE CAR DOME LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. EVEN WITH LIGHTS ON BRIGHT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SPOUSE DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS NOR WAS IT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
I HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION I KNOW THE MAZDA CX 7 HAS A RECALL BEFORE I BUY THIS CAR, HOW I CAN FIND MORE INFORMATION IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER FIXES THE PROBLEM AND ATTEND THE SUSPENSION RECALL ISSUE. I NEED A LETTER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR WHO I NEED TO CONTACT. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS CAR WITH ALL THE ISSUES I HAVE. BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS MELTED THROUGH THE LIGHT ENCASING.
A/C COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. ALL PARTS NEEDED TO REPLACE IS COMPRESSOR/CONDENSER-DRYER/EXPANSION VALVE. TOTAL OF $2778.00 WORKING FINE. STOPPED AT STORE 15 MIN. START BACK UP AND NO A/C
TAKATA RECALL. WHEN REPLACING THE AIRBAG THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR SECOND AIRBAG REPLACEMENT THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE LIGHT HAD COME ON. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A COINCIDENCE AND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THEY HAD JUST WORKED ON THE SYSTEM. I WONDER IF THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE AND WHAT IS THE FAIL RATE OF THE SEAT SENSOR AT THE TIME OF WORK BEING DONE OR IF THIS IS A WAY TO RECOUP MONEY FOR THE SERVICE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LANNAN MAZDA (720 ROGERS ST, LOWELL, MA 01852), BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,028. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THERE WAS BLUE SMOKE IN 2013 AND THE ENGINE OIL HAD BEEN BURNED TO NEARLY EMPTY. IT WAS FIXED WITH MY OWN POCKET BUT IN HAPPEN AGAIN. FYI, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AT ALMOST 40,000 MILES AND RIGHT NOW IS 62000MILES. RIGHT NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MAY OUT OF CONTROL WHEN IT MAKES TURN. I READ ANTICLE SAY THAT MAZDA WILL RECALL CX 7 INCLUDING YEAR 2008. WHEN I CALL THEM TODAY THEY SAID NO SUCH KIND OF RECALL. I READ A LOTS OF ARTICLE COMPLAINING MAZDA CX-7 REGARDING OF THESE TWO ISSUE. HOPE YOUR DEPARTMENT CAN FOLLOW UP TO PROTECT CONSUMER. ALSO WHEN THE CAR RUNS IN HIGHWAY OF FAST ENOUGH THERE'S NO SMOKE BUT WHEN IT RUNS SLOW THE SMOKE COME OUT TREMENDOUSLY. THANKS.
TOOK CAR TO MAZDA FOR AIRBAG RECALL, REPLACED AIRBAG BUT MAZDA TELLS ME THE ACTUAL SENSOR THAT TELLS THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY DOES NOT WORK AND ITS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT. PRIOR TO THE RECALL THE SENSOR DID NOT COME UP ON THE DASH AFTER THE RECALL I NOW HAVE A LIGHT ON MY DASH AND MAZDA IS TELLING ME ITS 700.00 TO REPLACE FIX AND PART AND LABOR. ELECTRICAL CAR SHORTS OUT ALL THE TIME, WINDOWS, ENGINE, LIGHTS WORK ONE DAY NOT THE NEXT WHEN DOORS OPEN. CAR STALLS OUT WHEN DRIVING AND SYSTEM REBOOTS. OTHER ISSUE IS I HAVE SPENT 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN REPAIRS ON THIS CAR. I HAVE BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPES, IVE REPLACED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN PARTS. ENGINE LIGHT WONT GO OFF. I TOOK IT FINALLY TO AUTO ZONE FOR A FREE ENGINE DIAGNOSIS TO GET A PRINT OUT AND NOW THE EMISSIONS VALVES ARE SHOWING FAULTY. ITS BURNING 2 QUARTS OF OIL ABOUT EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS/MONTHLY BASIS. IVE REPLACED MOTOR MOUNTS, COOLANT/OIL PARTS, AIR COMPRESSOR, HEADLIGHTS, BUMBER, WIPER BLADES, ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANELS, ROCKER ARMS, SPOILERS THAT HAVE CRACKED WITH WEATHER, THE CAR STILL NEEDS ANOTHER MOTOR MOUNT, I NOW HAVE A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE LIKE ITS THE LIFTERS AND I STILL HAVE ANOTHER YEAR ON THIS 5 YEAR LOAN ON THIS CAR. I HAVE TO KEEP ROLLING PAYMENTS TO THE BACK OF THE LOAN TO KEEP UP WITH THE REPAIRS. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. IVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY CAR I HAVE PURCHASED EVER!!! EVEN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT MAZDA HAS SAID WHAT DO YOU EXPECT YOU PURCHASED A PLASTIC CAR ON WHEELS. IS THERE ANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS BESIDES MYSELF?
ALSO THE BEARINGS ARE RECALLED. WE RECEIVED TWO LETTERS FROM THE MAZDA RECALL DEPARTMENT, STATEING THE RECALLS.
TAKADA RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MAZDA DEALER IN BOSSIER CITY LA CONCERNING THE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AND THE DEALER STILL HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUES.
TAKATA RECALL - LIBERTY MAZDA IN WAKEFIELD MA - JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A MAZDA CX7 AND KNEW THERE WAS A RECALL. SCHEDULED SERVICE AND FOR THE RECALL AND TOOK CAR IN JULY 19TH - WHEN PICKED UP THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART (SCHEDULED 1 1/2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE) AND WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL LETTER. CALLED MAZDA DIRECTLY WHO TOLD US THEY ONLY NEEDED THE VIN. MAZDA CONTACTED LIBERTY AND SPOKE TO ROB AND HAD THEM ORDER THE PART. SCHEDULED FOR AUG. 23RD. LIBERTY SAID THEY STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND THAT MAZDA (IN CA) ORDERED IT FROM THE WRONG WAREHOUSE (GA) SO IT MAY NOT BE IN UNTIL MAYBE SATURDAY. I CALLED MAZDA AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WAS ORDERING THE PART. JUST CALLED LIBERTY MAZDA TODAY AND GOT THE SAME STORY THAT MAZDA (CA) WAS ORDERING THE PART AND THEY SAW AN INVOICE THERE BUT HAD NO IDEA WHEN IT WOULD BE IN. I FEEL THAT LIBERTY MAZDA IS GIVING US THE RUN AROUND. WE ALREADY BROUGHT THE CAR IN ONCE FOR THE RECALL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NOW WE KEEP GETTING TOLD THAT A PART THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ORDERED ON AUG. 17TH MAY NOT BE IN UNTIL AFTER THE 27TH? NOT SURE HOW PARTS ARE SHIPPED BUT I CALLED ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER YESTERDAY (AUG 23) WHO SAID IF HE ORDERED THE PART THAT DAY HE SHOULD HAVE IT BY SATURDAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET RESOLVED SINCE JULY 19TH!

THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE AND WOULD CALL THE CONTACT WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED ANOTHER LOCATION WHERE THEY WOULD TRANSPORT THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD NOT HEARD FROM THEM SINCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

VIN TOOL SEARCH WAS UTILIZED HOWEVER THERE WAS NO AIR BAG RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

TAKATA RECALL AND HORN AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE SUSPENSION RECALL AND AIR BAGS TO GALPIN IN VAN NUYS CA. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND THE SUSPENSION WAS DONE BUT NOT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THE REASON FROM THE MAZDA SERVICE MGR WAS SINCE MY PASSENGER DOOR IS BROKEN ( THE LOCK) HE COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR SO HE DID NOT WORK ON THE AIR BAG. I CAN NOT AFFORD THE 200.00 THAT IT WILL TAKE TO FIX AND REPLACE MY PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE MY DOOR FIXED BY MAZDA AND THEN DO THE REPAIR WORK ON THE RECALLED AIR BAG. THE DOOR LOCK JUST BROKE ON ITS OWN AND I PAID CASH FOR MY CAR BRAND BMW FROM GALPIN. ALSO I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY MAZDA EMBLEM IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL BLEW OFF AND LANDED IN NY LAP!! I WAS NOT USING THE HORN. I NOW HAVE NO HORN AND HAVE LOOKED AT THE FUSE AND EVERYTHING ELSE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN HERE. YOU CAN SEE THAT MY MAZDA EMBLEM IS BROKEN ALL THE WAY AROUND THIS PIECE?? SOMEONE SAID THAT SINCE THERE IS AN AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL I NEED TO BUY A NEW STEERING WHEEL? REALLY? I AM A SENIOR ON MY SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREMENT ..I AM NOT ABLE TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS FIXED AT HUNDREDS AN HUNDEDS OF DOLLARS. RECALL 9716H (FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM) WAS SENT OUT IN OCTOBER 2016 AND 10 MONTHS LATER THERE IS NO SOLUTION OR ETA TO THE SOLUTION. IN THE INTERIM, WE ARE DRIVING A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE DURING DANGEROUS TIMES OF THE YEAR (WINTER). RECALL 1317F (AIR BAG INFLATOR) I WAS DENIED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT DUE TO A TECHNICIANS STRIKE AND OFFERED NO RECOURSE OR OPTIONS IN THE INTERIM. ANNOUNCED SAFETY ISSUES WHEN NO IMMEDIATE REPAIR IS AVAILABLE, SHOULD AT MINIMUM BE HAVE THE REQUIREMENT TO OFFER DRIVERS A SAFE AND COMPARABLE RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE A SOLUTION IS PUT INTO PLACE. WE ARE IN A SITUATION WHERE MAZDA HAS NOW ESSENTIALLY SAID "WE SOLD YOU AN UNSAFE CAR SO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL WE FIXING IT FITS INTO OUR SCHEDULE".
BOUGHT THE CAR JULY 30 2016. LEFT FRONT CONTROL ARM BROKE CAUSING LOST STEERING AND ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR. HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT A SHOP JULY 20 2017. GOT A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE SEPT 2017. JUST HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AS PER THE RECALL 08/09/2018 BUT NOW MAZDA DOES NOT WANT TO REIMBURSE FOR THE PRIOR REPAIRS MADE SINCE IT WAS AFTER THE AUGUST 10 2016 DATE ON THE RECALL AND CAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE BANK STATEMENT FROM BACK THEN SHOWING IT WAS PAID ON MY VISA. I SENT THEM THE INVOICE FROM THE GARAGE THAT IS CLEARLY MARKED PAID VISA. THE BREAKAGE HAPPENED ON THE STREET I LIVE ON, WIFE AND I WERE ON OUR WAY TO MEET WITH FAMILY FOR SUPPER. THE CAR WAS JUST DRIVEN HOME BY MYSELF FROM WORK ON A 65MPH 4 LANE HIGHWAY LESS THEN A HOUR PRIOR, THANK GOD IT DIDN'T BREAK AT THOSE SPEEDS. THE ROAD MAKES A SLIGHT TURN TO THE RIGHT WHEN I HEARD A BANG AND THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE CAR DROPPED. ONCE I SAFELY GOT THE CAR STOPPED WITH STEERING FOUND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE AT A 90 DEGREE ANGEL WITH THE FENDER ON TOP OF IT. DRIVE SHAFT WAS TORN OUT FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND TIE RODS WERE BENT.

AFTER BRINGING TO MAZDA FOR TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL, AND LOWER ROCKER ARMS RECALL, I WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1300 PLUS TAX!!! A MAZDA TECH. SAID HE KNEW FOR SURE THAT WAS THE ISSUE JUST FROM LISTENING TO THE NOISE. MY HOW KNOWLEDGEABLE FOR A GUESS. I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS, AND SEE THAT A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED IN 2012 REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND IT WENT NO FURTHER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IF MAZDA WILL PICK UP THIS BILL. I SEE A HUGE AMOUNT OF FOLKS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE VVT ALSO, AND MAZDA HAS DONE NOTHING. I WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE THIS ISSUE FURTHER. CAN YOU HELP, OR DIRECT ME ON HOW TO DO SO? TAKATA RECALL AND BALL JOINT SUSPENSION RECALL. IT HAS BEEN A CHALLENGE SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE AIR BAGS REPLACE BUT A DAY BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT,DEALERSHIP CANCELLED DUE TO AIR BAG DELIVERY ISSUES. CALLED TODAY TO SCHEDULE BUT THEY SAID, MAZDA PUT A HOLD ON ALL REPAIRS SINCE THE AIRBAGS THE PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED WAS JUST A TEMPORARY FIX AND THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON THE PERMANENT SOLUTION.

IN NOVEMBER OF 2016 MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. WENT TO PURCHASE A $100 BULB AND WHEN THE MECHANIC WENT TO REPLACE IT HE ADVISED THE BULB COULD NOT BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE HOUSING TO HOLD THE BULB WAS MELTED. HE ADVISED THIS IS ABNORMAL FOR THE HOUSING TO MELT AND MOST VEHICLES WOULD NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, HE ADVISED HE HAS SEEN THIS HAPPEN A LOT WITH CX-7 VEHICLES. HE SUGGESTED THAT I REACH OUT TO MAZDA FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE THIS, HE FELT, WAS A DEFECT OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. I CALLED MAZDA FILED THE COMPLAINT HOWEVER THE REP SET EXPECTATIONS FOR A CALL BACK THAT I NEVER RECEIVED. FAST FORWARD, THE LEFT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS DOING THE SAME. I CALLED MAZDA AND SPOKE WITH CHRISTOPHER AND HE SAID MAZDA COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE THEY APPARENTLY SENT ME AN E-CERTIFICATE LAST NOVEMBER WHEN I CALLED IN ABOUT THE RIGHT SIDE ASSEMBLY. I ADVISED HIM THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE IT AND EMAILED IT TO ME AGAIN. I ASKED HIM WHAT ASSISTANCE COULD BE PROVIDED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RIGHT SIDE ASSEMBLY AND HE ADVISED THERE WASN'T ANY. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE I COULD NOT SIMPLY JUST REPLACE THE BULB, THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY FOR BOTH SIDES NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN SPOKE WITH THOM AND HE ALSO DENIED ASSISTANCE. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. THE HOUSING WHICH HOLDS THE BULB MELTING IN BOTH ASSEMBLIES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT AND I THINK MAZDA SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THERE IS NOTHING I COULD'VE DONE TO PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE VEHICLES OLDER THAN MINE AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. WHAT ARE MY RECOURSES AT THIS POINT? THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING AIR BAGS. WE HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OVER THE YEARS TO GET ANY OF THESE DONE WITH ZERO SUCCESS. THE DEALERSHIP JUST KEEPS TELLING US TO COME BACK. OUR AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OUT ALL THE TIME. THE LIGHTS FILL WITH WATER AFTER WASHING OR IF IT RAIN CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS TO SHORT OUT AND BLOW THE BULBS. THE ENGINE RATTLES EVERYTIME YOU CRANK THE CAR AND THEN GOES AWAY. I GOT A RECALL ON THE AIR BAS BUT THE ENGINE WENT UP FIRST COUPLE WEEKS I HAD IT
MAZDA CX-7 RECALL 9716H. RCVD RECALL NOTICE IN 10/2016 BUT NO FURTHER NOTICES & TOLD IN NOTICE THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THE DANGEROUS RECALL. HAD NO IDEA HOW DISASTROUS THIS PROBLEM COULD BE. DRIVING MY CX-7 ON OLD WILLETS PATH, SMITHTOWN, NY ON 2/3/17 @ APPROX. 6:30PM WITH MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR, TRAVELING LESS THAN 35 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT WHEEL CAME OFF THE AXLE OF THE CAR. THE WHEEL WAS THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR. THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS A RESULT OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR. CARS HAD TO MOVE OUT OF MY WAY AS IT WAS ALMOST OUT OF CONTROL. I FEARED FOR THE LIFE OF MYSELF AND MY 4 KIDS IN THE CAR. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO LUCKILY GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR DUE TO MY 30+ YRS EXPERIENCE AS A DRIVER AND FORCE THE CAR ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, SLIDING INTO DIRT. THE CAR SKIDDED APPROX 75 FEET ON PAVEMENT. (PHOTOS ATTACHED) THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS DIAGNOSED BY MY MECHANIC AS THE BALL JOINT AND LOWER CONTROL ARM OF THE CAR COMPLETELY SNAPPING/ BREAKING CAUSED BY EROSION/CORROSION, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. CAR WAS TOWED AS WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE TIRE CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AXLE WHEEL, AND OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR AND ENGINE AS DESCRIBED BY SMITH HAVEN MAZDA, WHERE CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY MATTER AND MYSELF AND 4 CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I AM SO UPSET THAT MAZDA DID NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS TO COMPLETELY STOP USING THESE CARS DUE TO THE DANGEROUS RISK OF DEATH/CRASH. I NO LONGER WANT TO BE AN OWNER OF THIS MAZDA AND WANT TO DITCH THIS CAR FOR FEAR OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY; UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY NOTIFICATION BY MAZDA. MY CX-7 WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE BALL JOINT RECALL. THE BALL JOINT HAD FAILED PRIOR TO GETTING THE BALL JOINT REPLACED. AS A RESULT THERE WERE A LOT MORE REPAIRS THAT WERE REQUIRED. IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR SINCE THE BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED. REPAIR DATE WAS 1/25/2017. ACCORDING TO MORRIE'S CHIPPEWA VALLEY MAZDA IN LAKE HALLIE, WI, MY LEFT BALL JOINT IS ALREADY LOOSE. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS RECALL WAS TO ADDRESS THE BALL JOINTS FAILING PREMATURELY. IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN A YEAR. MAZDA SAYS THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE RECALL REPLACEMENT.
