THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2007 MAZDA 6I VE STARTED SHIFTING HARD AND SLIPPING. THE TRANSMISSION, AFTER CHANGING TRANSMISSION FLUID BY DEALERSHIP, HAS NOW GOTTEN WORSE. 2ND AND 4TH GEAR DO NOT WORK. 2ND GEAR IS SKIPPED AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPED INTO 3RD, AND GOING INTO 4TH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO 5TH, AS 4TH GEAR DOESN'T DO ANYTHING BUT REV CONSTANTLY, LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V345000 (AIR BAGS), 15V869000 (AIR BAGS), 16V354000 (AIR BAGS), AND 15V382000 (AIR BAGS). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
DRIVER'S SIDE LAP BELT TONGUE WILL NOT UNLOCK/RELEASE FROM THE BUCKLE. I HAD TO RECLINE THE SEAT AND SLIDE OUT BACKWARDS TO GET OUT OF THE SEAT. *TR
WHEN IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO READDRESS PLASTIC HEADLIGHTS THAT CANNOT WITHSTAND NORMAL USE, CLOUD UP, AND CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD. MY MAZDA NO LONGER HAS NORMAL LIGHT OUTPUT DUE TO INFERIOR LENS. THIS IS A VITAL SAFETY PART OF A CAR THAT SHOULD LAST SUBSTANTIALLY LONGER THAN THE 7 YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. YES, I HAVE TRIED CHEMICALS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE; NOT AN EXTERIOR TRIM PROBLEM. COST TO REPLACE IS UNREASONABLE. IT IS ALMOST LIKE DRIVING WITH NO LIGHTS AT ALL AT THIS POINT! *TR
TAKATA RECALL - THE CONCERN REGARDING THESE AIRBAGS WAS FIRST RAISED IN 2014, I WAS NOTIFIED BY MAZDA IN JANUARY OF 2016 THAT MY VEHICLE IN INVOLVED, WHEN WILL MY CAR BE RENDERED SAFE? THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY UPDATES ON THIS RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS POTENTIAL DANGER. PLEASE HELP.
TAKATA RECALL; NOTIFIED IN JUNE 2014 AND REPAIRS STILL NOT COMPLETED AND TOLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE
TAKATA RECALL - THE TAKATA RECALL HAS CONTINUED SINCE 2014 WITH NO FIX IN SIGHT. OUR VEHICLE IS STILL ON THE ROAD AND A DANGER TO IT'S OCCUPANTS. THIS RECALL SHOULD NEVER HAVE LASTED THIS LONG. MAZDA SHOULD EITHER FIX THE PROBLEM OR PURCHASE THE CAR FROM ME SINCE I CANNOT SELL IT WITH THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY DEFECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VVT ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,869 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA SPEED6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIREWALL WAS STARTING TO SEPARATE AND THE CLUTCH BECAME DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 183,000.

TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO IN FEB 2014. I KEEP GETTING LETTER AFTER LETTER FOR 2 YEARS NOW SAYING THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS RECALL CAN CAUSE SERVE INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH.

TAKATA RECALL TRYING FOR 4 YRS NOW ALWAYS TOLD NO PART FOR IT OR CALL MAZDA
MY DAUGHTER'S MAZDA WAS INVOLVED IN A FENDER BENDER WHICH DEPLOYED THE DRIVER AIR BAG, WHILE THE POLICE OFFICER WAS TAKING THE ACCIDENT REPORT FROM THE DRIVERS INVOLVED, THE OFFICER NOTICED THAT THE AIRBAG WAS STARTING TO SMOKE AND THEN BURST INTO FLAMES. ONLY THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE BURNED FROM THE DASH TO THE BACK SEAT(THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND PUT THE FIRE OUT) I HAVE VIDEO OF THE FIRE AND I'M HOPING THE OFFICER PUT HIS OBSERVATIONS IN THE REPORT. THE OFFICER SAID HE NEVER SAW AN AIR BAG CATCH FIRE LIKE THAT. *TR
THE LOW BEAM LIGHT OF MY MAZDA 6 IS EXTREMELY DIM, MOSTLY ON THE RAINY DAY. PEOPLE SITTING NEXT TO ME ALWAYS ASKED ME DID I ACTUALLY TURN ON THE LIGHT? I SAW THE MAZDA FORUM ONLINE, PEOPLE OTHER THAN ME ALWAYS COMPLAINED THE LIGHT TOO. IT REALLY AFFECT THE SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER, AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

LOUD CLUNK IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. TOOK IT IN AND FOUND THE TRANSFER CASE HAD LEAKED ENOUGH OIL FOR LARGE PARTS TO BE DISLODGED. LOOKED AND FOUND THERE WAS A TSB ON THE ISSUE BUT WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. IN SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. MAZDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT DOES NOT CONTACT THE OWNERS OF THE CAR. THE RESULTING REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND, I FEEL THERE IS A CHANCE OF TRANSFER CASE LOCK UP AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL. *TR
CPSC: I1340023A. 2007 MAZDA 6 CONSUMER STATED THE CAR RAN INTO THE GARAGE. *LN THE CONSUMER HAD AN AUTOMATIC STARTER (APPLIED SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES INC. ULTRA START 128 MXR-PRO EXTENDED RANGE REMOTE). INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. STARTER SYSTEM SET UP: NEUTRAL GEAR, HAND BRAKE ON, TURNED OFF/REMOTE KEY, MOTOR STILL RUNNING, EXITED THE VEHICLE, CLOSED THE DOOR, ENGINE TURNED OFF. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE MECHANISM UNTIL 07/27/13. THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE IN HER BROTHER'S DRIVEWAY. FOLLOWED SET UP SYSTEM AND EXITED THE VEHICLE; DASH LIGHTS STILL ON. ATTEMPTED A SECOND TIME, SHE ENTERED THE VEHICLE, STARTED THE ENGINE, FOLLOWED THE SETUP AGAIN, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND THE DASH LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. SHE ATTEMPTED A THIRD TIME, THIS TIME SHE TURNED THE KEY OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN FIRST GEAR AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, ALONG WITH THE DASH LIGHTS. ALL APPEARED GOOD, AND SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. THE ENGINE STARTED UP AND CRASHED INTO HER BROTHER'S GARAGE. THE AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICAL INVESTIGATION REPORT CONCLUDED THE REMOTE STARTER SUFFERED AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION OR ELECTRONIC MEMORY LOSS.

THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BOLTS HAVE SHEARED OFF ON THE FRONT REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT AND CAUSES A LOUD THUMPING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING. *TR
AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE MY CAR TO THE TOP OF MY STREET WHICH WAS ONLY 15 FEET FROM MY DRIVEWAY, I HEAR A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WAS A SHEERED REAR DIFFERENTIAL FRONT MOUNT BOLT. THE PROBLEM IS MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAVE A REINFORCEMENT KIT TO FIX IT. THIS IS A PROBLEM SINCE IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE EQUIPMENT AND MAZDA HAS FAILED TO RECALL THIS PRODUCT SINCE NO ONE HAS FILED COMPLAINT OR BEEN IN ACCIDENT (THANKFULLY) DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR *JS
I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES IN 2012 BECAUSE THE AIRBAG ICON HAD COME ON. THE 3RD TIME I HAD IT IN WAS IN MARCH OF 2012 JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT NO TIME WERE THEY ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. WITH THE MORE RECENT RECALL BECAUSE OF AIRBAG PROBLEMS, I ASKED IF I COULD BRING MY CAR IN AGAIN TO BE CHECKED AS THE AIRBAG ICON HAD REMAINED ON MOST OF THE TIME. I TOOK IT IN ON 10/09/14. THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND, BUT MAZDA WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF OVER $1000.00. I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND NOT ABLE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. MAZDA'S SOLUTION WAS TO REMOVE OR DISENGAGE MY AIRBAG. (I DON'T KNOW WHICH) I WAS TOLD NOT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AS MY AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A FAIR OR SAFE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. CAN YOU HELP? *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. WHILE TRAVERSING AN INTERSECTION MY MAZDA 6'S IDLE CLIMBED TO 3000 RPM WITHOUT SHIFTING. IN ORDER NOT TO STRESS THE ENGINE I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE AT A MAXIMUM OF 15 MPH AND BEING ON A HIGHWAY WITH NO PARKING OR EMERGENCY SHOULDER I WAS FRIGHTENED THAT I WOULD BECOME INVOLVED IN OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH THAT NEITHER OCCURRED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO SAFETY. UPON INVESTIGATING I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY SORT OF MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND IS THE SUBJECT MATTER OF MANY ONLINE DISCUSSION FORUMS. IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ALL TOO COMMON. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS IN THE INTEREST OF CIVIC DUTY FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD POTENTIALLY POSE A GREAT TRAFFIC SAFETY RISK. *TR
I STARTED HEARING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD RAN OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THEN I NOTICED WHEN MY CAR SWITCHED GEARS IT STARTED TO SOUND LIKE A LOUD THUMP. THIS WAS UNBELIEVABLE TO ME AS MY CAR ONLY HAD 28K MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HOWEVER, WHEN I TOOK THEM DRIVING AND ACCELERATED AND THE CAR CHANGED GEARS, SURE ENOUGH..THUD! THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TURN AROUND CAREFULLY AND GET BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT'S SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 6 WEEKS TRYING TO GET A GOOD TRANSMISSION FROM MAZDA TO PUT IN MY CAR. NOW IT'S 3 YEARS LATER AND MY CAR HAS 82K MILES ON IT. I HAD A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT TWO WEEKS AGO AND THERE HAS BEEN A NOISE IN THE FRONT WHEELS THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS THE STRUT MOUNTS BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO HEAR IT. MY DAUGHTER AND I TOOK A DAY TRIP THIS WEEK AND THE DAY WE GOT HOME I WAS RUNNING SOME ERRANDS. ONE PLACE IN PARTICULAR IS VERY HARD TO GET OUT OF AND INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND YOU HAVE TO ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY. WHEN I DID, MY HEART DROPPED BECAUSE WHAT DID I HEAR BUT THE FAMILIAR THUD! YES, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AGAIN AND MY CAR IS SITTING IN THE SHOP AS I WRITE THIS WAITING ON ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. I DON'T THINK MY TRANSMISSION WILL EVER GO OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING IT. I JUST PRAY IT DOESN'T TAKE 6 WEEKS FOR THEM TO RECEIVE ONE THAT THEY CONSIDER GOOD ENOUGH QUALITY TO INSTALL INTO MY CAR AGAIN. *TR
THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS TRYING TO SPEED UP TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE RAMP. MY CAR ACTED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO SHIFT OUT OF 3RD GEAR AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE MUCH. IT THEN SHIFTED INTO 4TH GEAR AND THERE WAS A VERY LOUD THUD AND THE CAR JERKED. THE THUD AND JERK HAVE BEGUN TO HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CAR SHIFTS FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVE MY FIANCE CAR AND ON MY WAY HOME I START HEARING A TICKING NOISE. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECK THE OIL AND THEN THE NEXT DAY I GOT IT TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECK BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.THEY HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK AFTER THE SECOND DAY I CALL TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON I TALK TO THE HEAD MECHANIC HIS NAME WAS [XXX] HE SAID"I SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM BECAUSE WE TAKING THE TOP PART OF THE MOTOR OFF AND THE MOTOR BEEN WELL TAKING CARE OF SO YOUR WARRANTY WILL BE GOOD. THE NEXT DAY I GET A CALL SAYING WE NEED OIL CHANGE RECORD I SENT ALL THE RECORD BUT TWO CAUSE I HAD TIME TO DO IT MYSELF AND I NEVER SAVE THE RECEIPT CAUSE IT WAS A NEW CAR. I GET A CALL THREE DAYS LATER TALKING ABOUT MY WARRANTY WAS DENIED CAUSE OF NO OIL SO WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT I CALL THE DEALERSHIP TO TALK TO [XXX] THE HEAD MECHANIC TO FIND OUT HE WAS LET GO. THE REASON WHY THERE IS A NICE TIME PERIOD IN MY CLAIM CAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE MONEY FOR A LAWYER BUT A LADY I WAS TALKING TO FROM PENNDOT GAVE ME YOUR WEBSITE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA, MAZDA6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED REPEATEDLY BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME WITH CAUTION AT A LOW SPEED. A SIMILAR FAILURE OCCURRED AT A DIFFERENT TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
I HAVE AN 07 MAZDA6 THAT I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE 2 BATTERY CABLES GOING FROM THE POSITIVE TERMINAL TO THE ALTERNATOR AND THE FUSE BOX LOCATED NEXT TO THE BATTERY (IT'S ONE CABLE BUT IT SPLITS IN TWO IF YOU TRACE IT). SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE I REPLACED IT, I NOTICED QUITE A BIT OF CORROSION ON THE BATTERY TERMINAL. I WOULD CLEAN IT OFF W WATER & BAKING POWDER, BUT IT WOULD COME BACK. THEN MY CAR STARTED HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. I TOOK THE BATT OUT AND CLEANED THE TERMINAL, BUT WHEN I TOOK THE CABLE BRACKET OFF OF THE TERM IT DISINTEGRATED FROM MASSIVE CORROSION. I EVENTUALLY TRACED THE CORROSION SEVERAL INCHES BACK ON THE CABLE WHILE REMOVING THE PROTECTIVE RUBBER HOSING. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SEPARATED THE CABLES FROM THE BUNDLE, REMOVED AND REPLACED W BETTER QUALITY CABLES. ON ONLINE FORUMS I'VE NOTICED OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE MAZDA USED SUBSTANDARD CABLE FOR THE POSITIVE SIDE. ALSO, HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY DUE TO IT CONSTANTLY BEING DRAINED AND NOT RECHARGED SUFFICIENTLY. MAZDA6 PURCHASED - CURRENT MILEAGE 84808- DISCOVERED OIL LEAK AT ENGINE REAR MAIN SEAL. SERVICE MGR OFFERED TO CORRECT PROBLEM. OIL LEAK NOT NOTICEABLE-OIL DROPPING ON UNDER ENGINE SHIELD AND COAGULATING. LOW MILEAGE MIGHT INDICATE PROBLEM EXISTED AT TIME OF MANUFACTURE. IF SO, REPLACEMENT OF VEHICLE IS PROPER ACTION ON PART OF MANUFACTURER/SELLER. OIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN DONE FREQUENTLY AND ON TIME, HOWEVER MAZDA IS REFUSING TO HELP WITH COST DUE TO WARRANTY EXPIRATION AND THE FACT THE CAR DID NOT HAVE A OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP EVERY TIME. IN JANUARY '10 WHILE DRIVING APPROX 70 MPH ISSUE STARTED AGAIN, BUT WAS A LOT WORSE, APPROX MILEAGE WAS 52K DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HONOR 50K MILE WARRANTY, TOOK CAR TO REPAIR SHOP, WHEN ARRIVING, ATTEMPTED TO PUT CAR IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT GO. MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS, STEERING COLUMN HAD WENT BAD. HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A DIRECT SIDE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO THEIR BACK, LEFT RIBS, AND HEAD. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT. THE BODY SHOP THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE DAMAGE SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND WHETHER OR NOT THERE WAS ANY MALFUNCTION WITH THE AIRBAGS. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE THAT TYPE OF INFORMATION TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION. THREE OF THE ORIGINAL MICHELIN ENERGY MXV4 TIRES ON MY 2007 MAZDA 6 HAVE FAILED TO MAINTAIN PROPER AIR PRESSURE. TWO OF THE TIRES HAD DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS AND THE THIRD TIRE LOST AIR PRESSURE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALTOGETHER.
