The Timken Company (Timken) is recalling certain aftermarket front wheel bearings, part number 510072, sold from January 22, 2015, to May 21, 2015, to be used as service parts on 2001-2012 Ford Escape, 2001-2011 Mazda Tribute, and 2005-2011 Mercury Mariner vehicles. The affected wheel bearings have incorrect dimensions of a 42mm bore, 76mm outer dimension, and 39mm width, instead of a 42mm bore, 78mm outer dimension and a 45mm width.
Remedy Status
Timken has begun notifying distributors who will offer purchasers replacement wheel bearings, free of charge. The recall began on May 21, 2015. Owners may contact Timken customer service at 1-866-984-6536.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA TRIBUTE (N/A). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE SHIFTED HARD UPON INITIAL START-UP. THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED WHILE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING THAT LOCATED AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITH THE SECOND AND FORTH GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,280. ## VIN FAILED ## MAZDA TRIBUTE 2008 ##

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V357000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND WAS ANTICIPATING THAT THE PARTS WOULD ARRIVE WITHIN TWO WEEKS. THE CONTACT WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE SAME THING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD GET REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A MAZDA TRIBUTE 2007 THAT HAS A GAS PEDAL THAT STICKS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES AND AM TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. "IT DOESN'T STICK WHEN THEY DRIVE IT" THE DATE LISTED IS THE MOST RECENT DATE OF THE PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN AN CONTINUOUS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. *TR
