MY GRAND MARQUIS LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON LAST NIGHT AND WENT TO AUTO ZONE. THEY CHECKED ALL MY FUSES. STILL NOTHING THEN I WAS STUCK TRYING TO HOLD THE HIGHBEAMS ON THE WHOLE DRIVE HOME. STARTED TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM ONLY TO SEE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARSHALL FORD CO INC. (14843 HWY. 16 WEST, PHILADELPHIA, MS 39350 (601) 774-9222) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY LOCATED, BUT HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,146.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS A USED VEHICLE WITH 42900 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS NO HISTORY OF AN ACCIDENT ON THE CARFAX REPORT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE REPAIR ENDED UP COSTING OVER $1000 BECAUSE NEW SENSORS HAD TO BE INSTALLED FOR THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES. THE AUTOMOBILE MECHANIC SAID THIS IS COMMON FOR 2005 FORD AUTOMOBILES. WHY HASN'T FORD ISSUED A RECALL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL SPRING INSULATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
JAN 19, 2016, LETTER SAID I WOULD BE NOTIFIED AS SOON AS CORRECTIVE PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THIS HAS BEEN OVER 6 1/2 MONTHS. AS I'M PLANNING ON TAKING AN EXTENDED TRIP, MUCH OF IT AT NIGHT, IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I'M CONCERNED MY HEADLIGHTS WILL SUDDENLY GO OUT. PLEASE GOAD THEM TO GET ON THE BALL AND PROVIDE A REPAIR.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES THE CODE 34. IT THEN STAYS ON AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING. THE CODE MENTIONED ABOVE IS FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT PRE-TENSIONER. SINCE THIS IS PART OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT (BELTS MAY NOT LOCK DURING A COLLISION), I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ITEM THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. THE DEALER QUOTED $700 TO REPLACE THE UNIT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE.

CALLED BOTH PARTIES AGAIN 8/4/16 AND AGAIN ON 1/18/17. SAME RESPONSE. EACH REFERRED THE PROBLEM BACK TO THE OTHER. IS THIS ISSUE GOING TO BE RESOLVED OR NOT? THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) IS TO BE REPLACED AND THE OWNER IS TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PART IS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THE RECALL DATE WAS DECEMBER 21, 2015-RECALL NUMBER: 15V861000. IT APPEARS THAT THE FORD COMPANY IS TAKING TOO MUCH TIME AND DOESN'T PLAN TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
HEADLAMPS GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. FORD DEALER SAYS ONLY WAY CAN FIX PROBLEM, WHICH IS AN INVESTIGATION, CUSTOMER SATISFACTION # 14N01, IS FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE OCCURRING WHEN IT IS CHECKED. THIS IS ABSURD, AS THE PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO BE INTERMITTENT - RELATED TO BAD RELAYS / RELAY INSTALLATION. THESE IDIOTS NEED TO BE TOLD TO FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE KILLS SOMEONE JUST TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS!

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DIAGNOSIS INDICATED SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER WAS DEFECTIVE. SINCE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DELOY IN THIS CONDITION, IT WAS REPLACED, COSTING $513.00. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS.SAFETY RECALL IS WARRANTED.
I WAS TRAVELING ON NORTHFIELD ROAD IN BEDFORD HEIGHTS OHIO AND TURNED RIGHT ON TO THE DRIVE WAY THAT LEADS TO WALMART. THE STEERING WHEEL SNAPPED COMPLETELY LOOSE SPINNING AROUND. I LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND THE CAR CRASHED INTO A CURB BEFORE I COULD APPLY THE BRAKES. THIS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR AFTER I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM LIBERTY FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS DONE IN RESPONSE TO RECALL NUMBER 13S08 - STEERING COLUMN SHAFT AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM NUMBER - 14N01. (LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE).
YOU ALLOWED FORD AN ENTIRE YEAR TO GET REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR HEADLIGHTS THAT GO OUT AT NIGHT! MEANWHILE PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. TRUMP SHOULD FIRE EVERY ONE OF YOU - AT LEAST WE WOULDN'T BE PAYING FOR YOU TO NOT PROTECT THE PUBLIC WHILE CATERING TO THE VERY COMPANIES YOUR MISSION SPECIFIES YOU ARE TO SEE TO IT THEY DO NOT HARM THE PUBLIC.

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ON VACATION ON AUGUST 14TH 2015 WHEN WE WERE GOING TO LEAVE OUR LOCATION, WE TURNED CAR ON AND HEADLIGHTS; WHEN WE NOTICED HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL. WE MANUALLY TURNED THE KNOB MULTIPLE TIMES AND NO LIGHTS TURNED ON. WHEN HE PULLED TURN SIGNAL LEVER BACK TOWARD HIM, WE CAME TO A CONCLUSION THE ONLY WAY WE COULD TRAVEL WAS WITH THE MANUAL HIGH BEAMS ON. HE HAD TO HOLD THE LEVER THE ENTIRE WAY TO OUR NEXT LOCATION IN THE MOUNTAINS WHICH WAS DANGEROUS FOR US AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. THE HEADLIGHTS SOMEHOW CAME BACK ON. AND ON AUGUST 26 2015 I JUST HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING UNLESS HOLDING BACK THE MANUAL HIGH BEAMS LEVER. THIS TIME THEY DID NOT COME BACK ON. NOT ONLY AM I AS A DRIVER BLINDING PEOPLE WITH HIGH BEAMS, I AM RISKING MY DRIVING BY HOLDING DOWN A LEVER WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE. THE LEVER HITS THE STEERING WHEEL AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT MANY OTHERS WITH THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL ARE EXPERIENCING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED
THE HEADLAMPS DECIDED TO QUIT WORKING RIGHT WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MILES AN HOUR. COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING. OTHER DRIVERS GOING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WERE HONKING AND FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT ME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND SOMEBODY COULD GET HURT.
PREVIOUSLY SHOWS AN OPEN RECALL FROM DEC. 2016 FOR CRACKING SOLDER ON HEADLIGHTS GOING INTO THE CIRCUIT BOARD. NEEDS A SOLUTION TO CORRECT SAFETY ISSUE.
BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME AND WON'T COME BACK ON. THE HIGH BEAM "FLASH TO PASS" WORKS BUT I DON'T WANT TO "BLIND" ANY ON-COMING TRAFFIC, SO I WILL NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS REPAIRED !
HEATER/AC DAMPER CONTROL ACTUATOR IS NOT WORKING.
WE GOT PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE AND THE POLICE NOTIFY US THAT THE EXTERIOR REAR LIGHTS WAS NOT WORKING AND COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT AND IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD ISSUE SO WE HAD TO USE OUR EMERGENCY LIGHTS TO GET HOME AND THE POLICE HAD TO FOLLOW US HOME.....

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND STEERING COLUMN LOWER BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V850000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

UNINTENDED ACCEL. SOMETIMES WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATES INSTEAD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS ME AND MY BIG FEET. AFTER SOME INTERNET RESEARCH I FIND IT MAY BE COMMON AS THE 2005 GETS OLDER. I ASKED IF BRKE PEDAL COULD BE ADJUSTED SO THAT THERE WAS NO INTERFERENCE WITH THE GAS PEDAL, I WAS TOLD NO. I HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, MINIMUM IMPROVEMENT. ONE DAY I "SHOT" ACROSS US19 IN ROSS TOWNSHIP WHEN I BRAKED. INSTEAD OF STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, I KEPT GOING UNTIL I CLEARED TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS RUINING 2 WHEELS & TIRES - SUBSEQUENTLY REPAIRED. THE CAR NOW SITS IN OUR DRIVEWAY, AFTER SOME OTHER OCCURRENCES WITHOUT INCIDENT. I'M LEARY OF DRIVING IT & DON'T WANT TO SELL IT & GET SOMEONE INJURED OR KILLED. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, BLINKED THREE TIMES THEN FOUR TIMES; IT WILL DO THIS 2-3 TIMES THEN REMAIN LIT. NO CODE PULLED FROM STANDARD CODE SCANNER. I SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON 2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL; IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ASAP.
CAR FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION DUE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON. DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER HAD FAILED, AND AIR BAG WOULD NOT INFLATE IN A CRASH. THE PRETENSIONER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS SEEMED LIKE A PREMATURE FAILURE, AS THE CAR HAS ONLY 47924 MILES. THE SERVICE DESK PERSON AT THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON IN MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. I DID SOME CHECKING ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT HE WAS CORRECT, ACCORDING TO ALL OF THE REPORTS EXACTLY LIKE MINE. IN VIRGINIA A CAR FAILS FOR THIS LIGHT BEING ON. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT OTHER STATES. IN VIEW OF THE FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM, I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT, MY VEHICLE'S LOW AND HIGH BEAMS (LIGHTS) SUDDENLY CUT OFF. UNEXPECTEDLY, THE ROAD I WAS TRAVELING BECAME VERY DARK BECAUSE I LIVE IN RURAL AREAS IN WEST VIRGINIA. UNFORTUNATELY, A SECOND LATER, MY CAR RAN OVER A SMALL BOULDER ON THE SIDE ON THE ROAD CAUSING A DAMAGE (SMALL CRACKS) AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND SIDE OF MY BUMPER. NEVERTHELESS, I PUT THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON UNTIL I RETURNED HOME RIGHT AWAY. EARLIER THIS WEEK, I USED THE CAR AGAIN WITHOUT ANY LIGHTS ISSUES. HOWEVER A DAY LATER, THE ISSUE RETURNED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING IN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MILES PER HOUR. ALL LOW/HIGH BEAM LIGHTS CUT OFF. MY ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO HOLD THE "FLASH TO PASS" LEVER TOWARDS ME, AND THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. HOWEVER, IT IS EXTREMELY CUMBERSOME DRIVING THIS WAY. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MANY MECHANICS THAT THE MAIN CULPRIT IS THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) AND THIS SAFETY ISSUE HAS BECOME EXTREMELY COMMON IN GRAND MARQUIS ESPECIALLY 2005 MODELS. CONSUMERS AND PERHAPS THE GOVERNMENT MAY NEED TO FURTHER INTERVENE, SO FORD CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SAFETY/HAZARDOUS. IN MY CASE, MY BOTTOM BUMPER SUFFERED, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE - IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT ANY GIVEN TIME. CURRENTLY, I ONLY USE MY VEHICLE DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT REPAIRS CAN EXCEED $700 OR MORE AND IN SOME INSTANCES, THE ISSUE RETURNS WITHIN A FEW MONTHS AFTER REPLACING THIS PART. THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE SHOULD PERHAPS BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED AS THE LCM COULD BE THE MAIN CULPRIT, BUT SOMETHING ELSE COULD ALSO BE TRIGGERING THE LCM TO FAIL. THANK YOU GREATLY! *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. HEARD A CLICK SOUND BUT DID NOT RELATE IT TO LIGHTS IMMEDIATELY. IT WAS JUST APPROACHING TWILIGHT. I GUESS WE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTICE THE LIGHTS AS THERE WAS STILL SOME DAYLIGHT. NEXT NIGHT DRIVING IN TOWN AFTER DARK AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, JUST SUDDEN DARKNESS. WE WERE ON BUSINESS HWY 23 GOING OVER THE OVERPASS IN TOWN AND WERE ABLE TO GET OFF ON A SIDE STREET AND LIMP HOME HOPING THAT WE WOULD NOT GET STOPPED AND CITED. THIS IS MY VEHICLE THAT I USE FOR MY WORK. I NOW HAVE TO SCHEDULE MY WORK AROUND DAYLIGHT HOURS AS WE CAN NOT FIND THE LIGHT MODULE TO REPLACE MINE. THIS IS A HORRIBLE DANGER TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. WE HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE PLACES TO FIND THE MODULE AND THEY ALL SAY THEY CAN NOT GET THEM. THE MOST FRIGHTENING OF ALL, WE HAVE NEVER BEEN SENT A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS. WE ARE GOING TO TRY A GARAGE THAT SERVICES ALL THE STATE PATROL AND POLICE CARS IN THIS PART OF WISCONSIN. THERE ARE STILL SOME OF THE MERCURY'S OUT THERE IN SERVICE. I SUSPECT THEY WILL SURELY SUPPLY THEM WITH THE MODULES. HOPE TO FIND ONE THERE SO I CAN RESUME NORMAL WORK HOURS AND NOT HAVE TO SCHEDULE DAYLIGHT ONLY WORK MEETINGS. I HAVE LOVED THIS CAR FOR 8 YEARS.
