The contact stated that there was a loud clanking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Driver and Passenger side seat belt pretensioners failed and have resulted in airbags being inoperable.
The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle was pulling to the left. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated after coming to a complete stop at a traffic light, he noticed that the steering shaft was fractured and detaching. The contact stated that he put the steering shaft back into place; however, the failure recurred while pulling to the front of his brother's residence. The contact stated that the power steering pulley and shaft were fractured, and the engine was overheating. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through an online chat. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started and shifted into drive(D), the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that once the vehicle was driving the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack: Part Number: (A, 36-1056N) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure recurred. The contact researched the failure online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V385000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
5/9/2021 The SRS dashboard light came on with a bell warning. Bell quits after a short time but the light stays on solid. When turning ignition on, light and bell comes on, blinks 3 times, does this 6 times and then stays on solid. When driving hear bell for 5 times, this repeats later for a total of 5 times. After turning the ignition switch on/off I hear a sound from under the driver or passenger seat. The passenger side air bag light does light. I bought this car new.

(4355 W JEFFERSON ST, SHOREWOOD, IL 60404) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT IN STOCK, SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER UNREPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT RIGHT SIDE DOES NOT WORK.
AS I WAS DRIVING. 35MPH MY FRONT WHEEL ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAD SNAPPED OFF CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. LONG STORY SHORT. I'M GOING THRU A FINANCIAL CRISIS. MY CAR WAS TOWED BY AAA TO MY HOUSE. I NOTIFIED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. WHY DID THE POLICE TOW MY CAR AWAY FROM MY HOUSE? SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS BECAUSE I CAN'T. TRANSPORTATION IS ESSENTIAL TO ME. PLEASE I NEED HELP. *TR
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN WHILE STOPPED WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED. ONCE IN A PARKING LOT WAITING FOR A SPOT TO CLEAR.THE SECOND TIME WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I HELD THE BRAKE DOWN AS HARD AS I COULD WHILE THE CAR DID A BURN OUT AND I NOTICED THE TRACTION LIGHT COME ON. IT THEN JUST WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. SOMEONE IN FRONT OF THE CAR (ANOTHER DRIVER OR PEDESTRIAN) CAN SERIOUSLY GET HURT OR KILLED.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND BLINKS CODE 3 3 THEN DINGS AN ALARM 5 DINGS X 5 TIMES EVERY 30 MINUTES, LIGHT STAYS ON. I UNDERSTAND CODE 33 OR 34 ARE SEAT BELT PRETENTIONERS THAT ARE KNOWN TO FAIL ON MID 2000'S FORD VEHICLES. MINE IS 2006 GRAND MARQUIS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN MATERIALS CAUSING A SAFTEY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND PASSENGERS. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED UNTIL REPAIRED AND THE REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A DRIVER SIDE PRETENTIONER HIGH RESISTANCE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THEY REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SINCE THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL MOST LIKELY ALSO FAIL SOON ACCORDING TO HIS EXPERIANCE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED TO HAVE PRETENSIONERS REPLACED SINCE IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD CAUSED BY FORD PARTS.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND HAS A DINGING NOISE THAT GOES THROUGH A CYCLE OF DINGING 5 TIMES THEN HAS BREAK OF APPROXIMATELY 15 MIN THEN DOES IT AGAIN. HAS NOT BEEN IN ACCIDENT AND SHOWS NO SIGN OF PROBLEM WITH ACTUAL PARTS.

AIRBAGS LIGHT STAYS ON AND KEEPS BEEPING NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED
TAMARA I JUST LOVE THIS CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY HAVE TO MAKE CHEAPER CARS AN SMALLER TRUNKS. ANY WAY ON DRIVER SIDE THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. AN AS I'M TRYING TO GET SOMEWHERE. THAN THE BEEPING NOISE STARTS UP RANDOMLY AN IT CAN GET ON YOUR NERVES. BUT IF I TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIPS I CAN'T AFFORD THEIR PRICES. THANKYOU. OH I LOVE HOW BIG THE TRUNK IS.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE OTHER DOORS WITH THE KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
WHILE ENTERING ONTO THE WOODROW WILSON BRIDGE FROM I-295S ON 2/1/2018, I PULLED INTO THE CENTER LANE AND BACKED OFF THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. LUCKILY THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, AFTER HITTING THE BRAKE AND THE OFF BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL, TO NO EFFECT, I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHILE STILL IN MOTION, I TURNED THE KEY BACK ON AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AGAIN. SINCE IT WASN'T A CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE, IT WOULD APPEAR IT IS SIMILAR TO THE TOYOTA PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVE BY WIRE ISSUE.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
STEERING WHEEL WONT LOCK WHEN I TURN OFF THE ENGINE DON'T KNOW IF ITS PART OF A RECALL AND DIDN'T FIX IT RIGHT... BRAKE LIGHT WHEN I STEP HARD ON BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON FOR FEW SECONDS.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON VEHICLE WHEN OPENING DOOR, TOOK TO PRIVATE SHOP AND DEALER FUTURE FORD OF ROSEVILLE AND BOTH STATES IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. CALLED FORD ON THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER AND STATED SINCE IT'S NOT A NTSB RECALL THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO FIX. ERROR IS THAT TENSIONER SPRING OR/AND CANISTER IN TENSIONER IS OVER SENSITIVE AND WILL LIKELY FAIL AND CAUSE A HIGH OHM READING TO THE COMPUTER, CAUSING ERROR LIGHT ON, TO BLINK 3-3 FOR DRIVER SIDE OR 3-4 FOR PASSENGER, AND DISABLING AIRBAGS. DEALERSHIP IS BACK LOGGED ON ORDERS FOR NEW SEATBELT ASSEMBLIES, THAT IN SOME CASES MAY TAKE OVER TWO WEEKS FOR ORDER TO CLEAR. ASSEMBLIES ARE FAULTY BY DESIGN. NTSB SHOULD INVESTIGATE FORD AND MAKE A MANDATORY RECALL FOR THIS AND SIMILAR MODELS AND MULTIPLE YEARS THAT USE THIS ASSEMBLY TYPE, SINCE THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY RISK, AND A DESIGN FAULT.

AT 68669 MILES THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. MECHANIC NOW SAYS THE DRIVER SIDE PRETENSIONER IS BAD. THIS AUTOMOBILE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. FIRST INCIDENT 9/16/16. STRAPS HOLDING THE FUEL TANK BROKE DUE TO RUST. THE TANK FELL OFF. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TANK WAS RESTING ON THE GROUND, THE LEFT SIDE HELD UP BY THE FILLER TUBE ONLY.THIS HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. COULD HAVE HAD VERY SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES IF IT HAPPENED WHILE MOVING.
AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, SAME SEQUENCE REPEATED FIVE TIMES AFTER WARDS IT STAYED ON. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO A WARNING BEEP SOUNDED. A YEAR LATER - SAME PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I REFUSE TO PAY ANOTHER $800. I TOOK OUT THE FUSE THAT SOUNDED THE BEEP ALARM AS IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK NOR POWER ON. CIGARETTE LIGHTER OUTLET HAS NO POWER.
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN. WHEN I GOT READY TO TURN RIGHT, MY STEERING WHEEL TURNED BUT MY TIRES DIDN'T. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOME AND THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD COMPANY. I WAS TOLD BY AN EMPLOYEE THERE THAT MY CAR WAS NOT APPROVED FOR THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE OF SOME OTHER DAMAGES. THE STEERING GEAR AND COLUMN WENT OUT AS WELL. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO BUY THE PARTS TO FIX THE CAR.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FRONT END DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,800.
NO ACCIDENT, 2/23/16, THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIMES ACTIVATED WHEN CAR STARTED AND CONTINUED WHILE CAR RAN. VERY DISTRACTING. ALSO, ONCE, THE 'AIR BAG OFF LIGHT' NEAR TOP OF GLOVE COMPARTMENT CAME ON. CHECKED NHTSA SITE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT AIR BAGS/SEAT BELT TENSIONERS, AND AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING WHICH IS WHY I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT. -- THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD, WHY NO RECALL? WILL GO TO MY DEALER IN MARYLAND TO FIND OUT MORE.

MY 17 YEAR OLD SLID OFF ROAD IN SNOW STORM, HIT TREE HEAD ON, CENTER OF BUMPER CONTACT, BUMPER REINFORCEMENT BAR DRIVEN INTO RADIATOR, BOTH FRAME RAILS BENT, YET NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT TOOK PLACE.
STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT, HARD OR CHUNKY STEERING WHILE DRIVING WHEN MAKING TURNS. FORD MADE NEEDED REPAIRS AND REPLACED UPPER STEERING SHAFT. I THOUGHT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER FORD RECALL # 13S08 OR 14S25
WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES, THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY CORRODED THROUGH, CREATED A PIN HOLE AND SPRAYED FUEL AGAINST THE HOOD ASSEMBLY AND OVER THE ENTIRE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THIS OCCURRED ONLY 2 DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY FORD FOR THE SAFETY STEERING RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THIS ASSEMBLY SHOULD NOT HAVE CORRODED.
AT 110000 MILES MY ENGINE STARTED TO RUN VERY RUFF,AND WOULD DIE OUT AT AN IDLE,TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT HAS A CRACKED PLASTICK INTAKE MANIFOLD.WHEN I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT PUTTING ANOTHER PLASTIC PART BACK ON,I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE REDESIGNED THE PART BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE HAD WITH THE 4.6 LTR ENGINE AND THE PLASTIC INTAKES!

UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FUEL TANK STRAP FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2015 I PURCHASED A USED 2006 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LS. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. I SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LOWER FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, NOT RESULTING IN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND TO DETERMINE IF THERE HAD BEEN AN AIRBAG RECALL BY THE NHTSA, I FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN 57 REGISTERED COMPLAINTS ON THE REPAIR PAL WEBSITE AND THAT A COMPLAINT HAD ALSO BEEN FILED WITH THE NHTSA.FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE SEAT-BELT ASSEMBLIES. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AS IT EFFECTS THE PROPER FUNCTIONALITY OF THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FAULTY TENSIONER ON PASSENGER SEATBELT. COST OVER $800 TO REPLACE. 2 MONTHS LATER THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT TENSIONER IS BAD. AFTER WEBSEARCHES, I'VE FOUND THUS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, BOTH HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE HIGH BEAM BAR HAD TO BE HELD BACKWARDS IN ORDER FOR THE HEAD LIGHTS TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,200.

I HAD AN INCIDENT OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON MY MERCURY MARQUIS. I WAS BRAKING FOR A STOP WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED RACING. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE HARD BUT THE CAR STILL CONTINUED TO MOVE SLOWLY UNTIL I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE (FORTUNATELY) BUT THE CAR'S ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. *TR

HE STATED IT FELT AS THOUGH HE WAS GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY HARNESS ASSEMBLY, DUE TO THE WIRING BEING CORRODED. *JB
