WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AT 1 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A SENSOR IN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE DEALER (GORNO FORD 22025 ALLEN RD, WOODHAVEN, MI 48183) WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.

MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAULTY BRAKES. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE REPAIRS AT THREE DIFFERENT SHOPS, THE LAST TWO BEING AT FORD. THE FIRST TWO SHOPS COULD NEVER GET THE BRAKES RIGHT. FORD FINALLY GOT THEM TO WORK FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. FORD HAD THE CAR FOR ANOTHER MONTH- IT TAKES MONTHS EVERY TIME. PAID ANOTHER $2445. AND STILL NO BRAKES. HAVE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP OR GIVE ME DOCUMENTATION TO THAT EFFECT. FORD CASES ARE CAS-28178357 AND CAS-27857368. I HAVE TWO OTHER MARINERS AND THIS ONE JUST ISN'T RIGHT. PLEASE ADVISE MY OPTIONS. I DON'T WANT TO SELL OR TRADE THIS WITH A PROBLEM THAT COULD POSSIBLY HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. THANKS!
MY 2009 MERCURY MARINER HAS LOST ITS POWER STEERING CAPABILITIES. WHEN RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT SHOWS A RECALL BASED ON THE POWER STEERING. RECORDS SHOW A FORD DEALER DID THE SOFTWARE UPDATE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE CAR WASN'T HAVING ANY ISSUES WHEN THIS WAS DONE. NOW THAT THE CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE BASED ON THE RECALL, FORD SAYS IT'S NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. I CAN'T IMAGINE I'M THE ONLY ONE OUT OF 741,000 PEOPLE WHO IS HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM. AS IT STANDS, THE CAR'S STEERING IS MANUAL. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO SATISFY THEIR CUSTOMERS BECAUSE IT'S UNETHICAL TO FIX A PROBLEM WHEN THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND TURN YOUR BACK WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM.
TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT. AT STARTUP, LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, THEN REMAINS STEADY, ALTHOUGH TIRE PRESSURE IS AT RECOMMENDED PRESSURE (35 PSI). SERVICE TECHNICIAN INDICATES REPLACING FAULTY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LOCATED ON LEFT FRONT TIRE AT ESTIMATED COST OF $150. CUSTOMER MANUALLY CHECKS TIRE PRESSURE AT LEAST MONTHLY.
HAVE HAD MULTIPLE BRAKE FAILURES INCLUDING AN ACCIDENT THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AS A RESULT OF BRAKE FAILURE. THE BRAKES WILL WORK FINE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE AND THERE'S JUST A SOFT PEDAL FOR ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAS BEFORE YOU GET A VERY SOFT BRAKE. INTO THIS FOR THOUSANDS AND NOW FORD SAYS A HYDRAULIC BRAKE SENSOR IS THE PROBLEM FOR BETWEEN $2100-2400. HEARD THAT IT WAS FIXED EVERY TIME I'VE PICKED IT UP. DANGEROUS!!! MY DAUGHTER OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. STARTED VEHICLE AND NO POWER STEERING. CALLED FORD WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED ON JULY 29, 2014 DUE TO RECALL BUT SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. FORD REFUSES TO FIX, WAS TOLD WAS ALREADY FIXED AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO. WENT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT NOW HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.
MY CAR WAS RECALLED ONCE FOR POWER STEERING ACCORDING TO MY CAR'S HISTORY FORD UPDATED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. HOWEVER FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS MY POWER STEERING KEEPS FAILING. I NEVER KNOW WHEN I START THE CAR IF I WILL HAVE POWER STEERING. FORD STATES NO RECALL AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM FOR FREE. WHAT I READ STATES THAT IF THE COMPUTER UPDATE DOES NOT WORK THAN A REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING MUST BE DONE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO CANCEL DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS BECAUSE THAT DAY I DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING AND CAN NOT PARALLEL PARK. PLEASE I NEED HELP WITH THIS. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MUST I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF LACK OF POWER STEERING BEFORE FORD CORRECTS THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED, MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY UPON STARTING MY ENGINE ON FEBRUARY 22,2016. THE SHAKING CONTINUED EVERY TIME I DROVE MY CAR AT HIGH OR LOW SPEEDS AND ALSO WHILE IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. ON MARCH 8, 2016, AFTER STARTING MY ENGINE, I NOTICED THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY NON FUNCTIONING. THERE HAS BEEN A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING CONTROL AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS.
ON 3/8/2016 I STARTED MY ENGINE AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, UPON DOING THIS I NOTICED I HAD NO POWER STEERING. LEADING UP TO THIS DATE FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS, I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AT ALL SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED WITH ENGINE RUNNING. I TOOK THE CAR TO RAY SKILLMAN FORD ON 3/8/2016 AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILURE IN THE STEERING ASSIST MOTOR AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO PULL MY STEERING COLUMN TO REPAIR THE MOTOR. I HAD MY CAR SERVICED FOR RECALL 14S05 IN SEPTEMBER 2014 IN WHICH THEY REPROGRAMMED THE POWER STEERING SENSOR AT CAPITAL CITY FORD. THIS RECALL REMEDY FAILED TO PREVENT THE ISSUE OF FAILURE IN MY VEHICLE. THE CLAIM NUMBER THROUGH FORD IS CAS-8977665-P8M0T0. THE TOTAL FOR THE REPAIRS IS $996.04.

AS PER RECALL I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD DEALER (2200 S. WALNUT BLOOMINGTON, IN 47401) TO UPGRADE MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SOFTWARE. LESS THAN 30 DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND POWER STEERING ASSIST IS NO LONGER OPERABLE WHILE DRIVING.

I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN RESPONSE TO A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE POWER STEERING. I HAD NEVER BEFORE EXPERIENCED SYMPTOMS OF THE ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY AGAIN SERVICED THE VEHICLE. A FEW WEEKS LATER I AGAIN BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO GET INTO THE SERVICE AGAIN, AND NOW FORD TELLS ME I NEED A NEW STEERING COLUMN BUT THAT IT IS TOO LONG AFTER THE ORIGINAL SERVICE AND IS NOW CONSIDERED A NEW INCIDENT NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE INITIAL "REPAIR." THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

PROBLEM STARTED IN DECEMBER 2015, AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. ENGINE WOULD NOT START WHEN IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED TO THE START POSITION. HAD TO MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT IT, AND APPLY DOWNWARD FORCE ON THE KEY UNTIL THE NECESSARY CONTACT WAS MADE. ONCE STARTED IT SEEMED TO RUN NORMAL. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A DEFECTIVE "IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER HOUSING". THEY REPLACED IT WITH A NEW ONE, PART NUMBER 9L8Z*3511*A. ENGINE STARTS NORMALLY NOW. TOTAL COST TO ME $527.74.
MY 2009 MERCURY MARINER STALLS WHILE ITS IDLE, AT A INTERSECTION OR JUST WAITING. IT STALLS THEN I STARTED UP RIGHT AFTER IT STALLS.
ON JANUARY 16 2016 POWER STEERING FAILED AND CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. POWER STEERING PSCM HAD BEEN REPROGRAMED PURSUANT TO NHSTA RECALL IN DEC. 2014. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM (OBVIOUSLY) FORD DEALER DETERMINED THAT REPLACEMENT OF STEERING COLUMN WAS REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST ($1306.27)

ON 1/1/2016 I WAS DRIVING ON 495 W IN QUEENS, NY HEADING BACK TO MANHATTAN WHERE I LIVE. OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR BEGAN JERKING, A WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH PANEL CAME ON (WHICH I NEVER SAW BEFORE) AND I COULD TELL THE CAR WAS DECELERATING. I TRIED HITTING THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN, THE CAR WOULD JERK, THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT WAS BARELY MOVING. I KNEW I HAD TO PULL OVER AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I AM A CONFIDENT DRIVER, HOWEVER, A LESS CONFIDENT OR TIMID DRIVER MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE PANICKED AND GOTTEN INTO A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS COLLISION.

I STARTED THE CAR AND WHEN I BEGAN TO DRIVE THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. I ASKED THE PARKING GARAGE ATTENDANT TO TRY AND HE COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL EITHER. I HAD TO GET A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD TOLD ME THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACE DUE TO FAULTY STEERING MODULE. IT COST ME $1,100.17 TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. ON AUGUST 19, 2014 I BROUGHT THE CAR TO FORD TO BE SERVICED FOR RECALL 14S05. BECAUSE THIS RECALL WAS FOR POWER STEERING AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, I THOUGHT THE EXPENSE WOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL. I HAVE COME TO LEARN THE THE RECALL WAS TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE ONLY. WHICH WAS DONE TO THIS CAR AND DIDN'T HELP. THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE SERIOUSNESS OF LOSING THE ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR DUE TO FAULTY MANUFACTURING AND THE COMPROMISED POSITION THAT IS PLACED ON THE DRIVER, OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD AND PEDESTRIANS. THIS CAR HAS ONLY $45,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ANYWHERE FROM 20-55 MPH, THE CAR SEEMS TO STALL OUT AND THE ACCELERATOR NO LONGER WORKS. YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND IT WILL START AGAIN. SOMETIMES THE SAME PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN WITHIN SECONDS, MINUTES, OR DAYS LATER.

DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, SHOP DISCOVERED DRY ROTTING BETWEEN TREADS AND FINE-LINE CRACKING ON ALL FOUR TIRES REQUIRING NEAR-FUTURE REPLACEMENT. MICHELIN SIX-YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED JULY 2015. VEHICLE IS PARKED IN RESIDENTIAL GARAGE; THERE IS NO KNOWN ADVERSE WEATHER EXPOSURE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,833.

WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL DOWN THE ROAD DOING 45 MILES PER HOURS. WHILE ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH AND GOING UP SLIGHT HILL CAR WAS FINE. WHEN I STARTED TO GO DOWN THE SLIGHT HILL CAR SEEMED TO SOUND LIKE IT WAS IN NEURAL GEAR AND MY RMPS JUMPED TO BETWEEN 3 AND 4. I LOOKED TO SEE IF SOME HOW THE CAR GOT ACCIDENTLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WASN'T IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. SO I TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO DRIVING AND SOUNDING NORMAL. THIS IS NOW THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. WE JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AND OF COURSE LIMITED WARRANTY IS NOW OVER AND THIS IS NOW HAPPENING. WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS OR IF MAYBE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM ALSO. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS I FEEL THIS IS NOW A UNSAFE VEHICLE AND I WISH I WOULD OF KNOW THIS WAS GONNA HAPPEN BEFORE I SHELLED OUT 12,000 FOR IT BECAUSE NOW I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN OR MY NEWBORN GRANDSON IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME.
NORMAL DRIVING WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION & THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD. CAR WAS RUNNING BUT THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION & IDLED ROUGHLY. MECHANIC PUT A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT WHICH READ P2112 THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED. BINDING THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND THE INCIDENT WAS VERY SCARY SINCE I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR WOULD GO ABOUT 1MPH UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. WHEN THE CAR WAS LATER SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, ACCELERATION RETURNED. THIS IS FRIGHTENING AS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT COULD HAPPEN AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

POWER OF VEHICLE DRASTICALLY DECREASED WHILE DRIVING DOWN SECONDARY ROAD. HAD JUST ENOUGH POWER TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. PUSHED DOWN ACCELERATOR IN PARK AND NEUTRAL BUT NO POWER. TURNED OFF. RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. SUSPECT ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE WITHOUT A DIAGNOSTIC FEE BECAUSE THEY STATE IT IS NOT A RECALL, ALTHOUGH AN INTERNAL VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT STATES "THERE ARE RECALLS FOR YOUR 2009 MERCURY MARINER AT THIS TIME" NOTICE # 13N03 ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY EXTENDED COVERAGE I BELIEVE USING THE WORD RECALL CONSTITUTES MISREPRESENTATION WHEN IN FACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATES IT IS JUST A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM TO ALLEVIATE THEM FROM COSTS AND ANY WRONG DOING. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN.
UNDER RECALL 14S05 THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST WAS UPDATED BUT DID NOT FIX THE DEFECT. THE RECALL ONLY GIVES A CHIME AND WARNING THAT STEERING IS GOING TO FAIL. THE CHIME WENT OFF BUT DIDN'T GIVE THE WARNING ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER UNTIL I WENT TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THE CHIME WAS. WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH MY STEERING STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF THIS WERE TO TOTALLY FAIL WHILE TRAVELING AT THAT SPEED. *TR
