The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that she became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the braking system was flushed with DOT 4 fluid, and a new brake fluid reservoir cap was installed; however, the contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but went down to the floorboard and failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she engaged the electronic parking brake, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving, and there was a stopping distance delay. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the brakes were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
The wrench light came on in the car and my OBD sensor will not pick up a code on what it could be. I was driving it yesterday to merge onto a highway when suddenly I couldn’t pass 15 mph and was stuck witch cars beeping and zooming around me. I had to shut the car off wait and turn it back on. The amount of complaints I’ve seen about the same exact issue happening to people in the same exact car is ridiculous to not be a recall. I am almost certain it’s a throttle bottle issue. This needs to be looked into and investigated before ford comes across a lawsuit.
Brakes going to the floor twice, almost unable to stop the second time - almost crashed. This vehicle’s brakes were recalled per Ford. Cleveland Ford dealer in Cleveland TN agreed to fix it, then changed their minds a couple days later and said they weren’t required to fix it because they couldn’t replicate the problem. Mountain View Ford in Chattanooga agreed today to fix it, taking it there tomorrow. We’ll see.
Brake pedal going almost to the floor once, then later did so again and almost didn’t stop, almost crashed.
I am here to report a complaint as to Lasco Ford Lasco Ford on 2525 Owen Road Fenton, MI 48430 holding my daughter's vehicle for several days to fix 2 recalls. She is 19 and they seem to be trying to take advantage of her in telling her other things that need repair rather than just fixing the recalls. Now they are saying she needs to pay a diagnostic fee to get her car back now that she will not spend the $1000 to repair everything, they say she needs.

The contact stated while pulling out of the driveway, the contact depressed the brake pedal because of an oncoming vehicle however, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact pumped the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle had passed the hydraulic control unit (HCU) test and had not experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and that no failure was found. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 130,000.
We got the recall letter for the 19S54 anti brake Hydrolic Control Unit. We took my 2007 Milan and they did the text and replaced the cap for the brake fluid. They did the test and said it past on June 26, 2021. On July 2, 2021 I had no brakes. I had it towed to the ford dealer in Forest Grove Oregon. The Manager of service Jeff said the hydrolic control unit failed. He let Ford Corporate know and gave him info. He asked for a work order number so he could order the part. Corporate has never gotten back to him. My husband has called corporate 2 times and the 2 different ladies we spoke with said they find it odd that this is being a problem. The second lady we spoke with tried to get us a manager on the line to speak to. None of them answered their phones. She called Jeff at our for dealer and told him she could not get a manager to answer their phones or email. She told us someone would get back to us. The second call was on Aug 12. How do we get this take care of?
The car will lose speed and I have to try to get off the highway with out being slammed by other vehicles it is extremely dangerous and I have seen lots of people are having the same problem PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE WE GET KILLED

The contact initially received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact then received a notice that the parts were available. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer for service however, soon after the repair, the contact experienced the failure. The contact stated that extended brake pedal travel was needed upon depression of brake pedal without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer where they informed him that they found no fault with the vehicle and could not help. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who test drove the vehicle and agreed that the brake pedal was defective. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer where two service mechanic had also test driven the vehicle and both confirmed that there was a defect with the brake pedal however, the contact would have to pay for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and had offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Upon picking up the vehicle, the contact stated while stopping the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floor. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and the contact filed a complaint. FORD JUST NOTIFIED ME THAT THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 21S12 / NHTSA RECALL 21V-158 FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. THE ANSWER TO "WHAT IS THE RISK?" IS: "IF AN AIRBAG INFLATOR EXPLODES, SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS COULD STRIKE THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." AND, YET, "FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE..." HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS YET FOR THIS VEHICLE AT THE MECHANIC SHOP THAT I HAVE USED FOR MANY YEARS! MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR, MY MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AS A RETIREE WIDOW. IN ADDITION, I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHY THIS AIRBAG WAS NOT REPLACED WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THESE VEHICLES WAS REPLACED BACK IN 2018. I AM JUST LUCKY THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT DEPLOYED WHEN I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION IN LATE 2012. I AM ASKING THAT THESE PARTS BE MADE AVAILABLE ASAP BECAUSE FRANKLY, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN FORD'S RESPONSE ONCE AGAIN TO THIS VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY EXCUSE FOR IT.

I was sent an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL April 2021. The problem has never been fixed, and it's been almost a year since it was issued, and no parts are in to fix it?
MY [XXX] VEHICLE IS UNDER TWO RECALL NOTICES. ONE IS FOR FAULTY BRAKES, THE OTHER FOR A FAULTY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA NEEDS TO CAREFULLY CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS COMBINATION OF DEFECTS. RIGHT WHEN YOU NEED THE ABS PROTECTION THE SYSTEM COULD FAIL POTENTIALLY CAUSING A CRASH AND AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THIS COULD KILL THE DRIVER AND OTHERS IN THE CAR. UNLIKE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL, THIS DEADLY COMBINATION RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. RECOMMEND NHTSA ORDER FOMOCO TO PROVIDE SUITABLE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION TO AFFECTED CAR OWNERS UNTIL RECALL REPAIRS CAN BE EFFECTED. I HAVE TO PRESS MY BRAKES EXCESSIVELY TO GET THEM TO WORK AND THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE. RECALL 19S54 WAS ISSUED BACK IN DECEMBER 2019 AND THERE IS STILL NO FIX. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT YET BUT NOW THERE IS SNOW AND ICE AND MAKES IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP.
Rear windshield tint has hundreds of bubbles, making it impossible to see especially when dark. Theres been many instances where I have not been able to use my car when it’s dark because of the danger. And if it’s raining, I have absolutely no visibility. There’s no words to accurately describe how dangerous this is. I can’t back out of anywhere. The pictures will speak for themselves.

WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR VEHICLE STOPPING IN A SAFE WAY, AS STOPPING WAS DELAYED WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC FOR REPAIR AND INSPECTION AS WE WERE CONCERNED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SAFETY OF THE BRAKES. OUR MECHANIC NOTIFIED US THERE WAS A RECALL, HOWEVER PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. HE FOUND A USED PART AND REPAIRED THE ISSUE. WE TOOK THE RECEIPT AND RECALL NOTICE TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO NOTIFIED THEY COULD NOT REFUND US FOR THE REPAIR UNTIL THE PART WAS AVAILABLE. THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. 1/28/20

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO QUIRK FORD (540 SOUTHERN ARTERY, QUINCY, MA 02169) WHERE AN INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED THAT CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKES WERE DEFECTIVE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. DESPITE THE DIAGNOSIS, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. AIR BAG IS COMING APART IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO DEPLOY. BRAKES KEEP FREEZING UP. WHEN IT'S COLD OUTSIDE AND WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE. CHANGED COLD AND SPARK PLUGS BOTH TIMES SPARK PLUGS AND COILS WERE BURNT AT THE END AND SOME TYPE OF GOOK WAS ON THE ENDS THAT BOTH SHOPS SAID THEY NEVER SAW BEFORE.
CONTINUING PHONE CALL REF.# 326373:(DID NOT HAVE ALL INFORMATION IN FRONT OF ME TO CONTINUE). 12/12/2019 TOOK CAR TO FIRESTONE TIRE AND AUTOMOTIVE AND WANTED THEM TO CHECK MY BRAKES BECAUSE SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT WITH THEM. THE PUT NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS ON FRONT AND BACK. PROBLEM WAS CAR WAS HESITANT IN STOPPING, THEN WOULD "GRAB." WHILE DRIVING, IF I HAD TO USE BRAKES, CAR WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESUME SPEED AFTER BRAKES RELEASED. RPM'S GO WAY UP, MPG DROPS TO "0," THEN CAR ACCELERATES. IT IS VERY HESITANT IN PICKING SPEED BACK UP. TWICE I TOOK CAR TO SHOP TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT.(4/13/20 AND 9/1/20) COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. NO PROBLEM CAME UP ON COMPUTER. NO ENGINE LIGHT. I BELIEVE RECALL #19S54/NHTSA 19V-904 RESPONSIBLE. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE JANUARY 2020. I HAVE CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX AND WAS TOLD (ALSO ON WEBSITE) THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE PROBABLY LAST PART OF FIRST QUARTER OF 2020. NOW LAST PART OF THIRD QUARTER AND NO PARTS. AFRAID CAR WILL "STALL" IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE ACCIDENT.

ABS BRAKING FAILED WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED VIGOROUSLY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DURING SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. THE ABS STARTED TO ENGAGE, THEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKES WERE LOST. REPAIR SHOP REPLACED BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER BUT THEN FOUND THE ABS MODULE WAS FAULTY. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS LISTING THESE MODULES AS BEING A PROBLEM
THIS MORNING WHEN GETTING ON FREEWAY, ABS WAS ACTIVATED DUE TO SNOWY WEATHER. AFTER THIS, BRAKES NEEDED TO BE PUMPED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PEDAL PUSHED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR FOR CAR TO STOP. MADE IT TO WORK AFTER NARROWLY ESCAPING SEVERAL POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS AND SLIDING THROUGH A RED LIGHT DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. UPON LEAVING WORK, BRAKES WERE STILL NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP PREDICTABLY. ONCE I RETURNED HOME I DECIDED TO GOOGLE THE ISSUE TO SEE IF OTHER MERCURY OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. AS IT TURNS OUT, IT IS A MASSIVE PROBLEM FOR SO MANY PEOPLE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. AFTER READING SO MANY ACCOUNTS OF ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. ALSO, WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND SHOOK WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH GOSCH FORD HEMET (150 CARRIAGE CIR, HEMET, CA 92545, 951-396-7250) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE DISCOVERED MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 13N03, WHICH WAS A FREE REPAIR FORD OFFERED ITS CUSTOMERS WITH DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODIES. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE RECALL AND REFERRED HER TO THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR RECALL; HOWEVER, HER VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WAS NO LONGER ENTITLED TO THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
MY MOM WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65-70/MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED AND SHUT OFF WHILE IT WAS ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO WARNING! SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND THE WHEEL LOCKED UP ON HER. WE'VE CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN ANY RECALLS AND APPARENTLY THERE'S A RECALL FOR THE 2011 MODELS, BUT NOTHING OLDER. HOWEVER, I HAVE READ MULTIPLE FORUMS AND THERE'S BEEN QUITE A FEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. AGAIN, SHE COULD'VE BEEN KILLED!! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!
I HAVE RECEIVED 2 NOTICES FROM FORD DATE 1/2020 AN10/20, EACH ADVISING OF A RECALL REGARDING THE BRAKES. EACH TIME , THE PARTS ARE NOT IN AND I MUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE. SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL GOES STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR LIKE THERE IS AN AIR POCKET. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS SHOULD THESE BRAKES FAIL

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ADDED EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE DRUMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE DRUMS AND CALIPERS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE BREAKS WHEN STOPPING THE CAR CONTINUE TO GO FORD WARD AND SOMETIMES WHEN STOP YOU CAN FEEL AIR PUSHING DOWN LIKE IT DOSES WANT TO STOP.
WHEN STOPPING ON AN ICY/SNOW COVERED CITY STREET AND THE ABS KICKS IN THE BRAKES EITHER STOP WORKING OR BECOME SOFT. IN THE WINTER OF 2018 THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER, I HAD THEM SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THE ABS PUMP DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I HAD THEM SERVICED AGAIN TODAY 2/28/19 AND IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE, ABS PUMP DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKING DISTANCE TO BE EXTENDED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WHEN THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKING. THE ONLY WAY I'VE FOUND TO STOP THE VEHICLE IS TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE BRAKING RESUMES. HOWEVER, ONCE THE VEHICLE STOPS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL CONTINUE TO GO TO THE FLOOR VERY EASILY. I WOULD PULL OVER, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THEN PRESS THE PEDAL DOWN SEVERAL TIMES VERY FIRMLY, CONTINUING UNTIL THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BUILDS UP PRESSURE (OR COMES OUT OF A FAIL MODE). MY MECHANIC HAS WORKED ON OTHER MILAN'S HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND AFTER CHANGING MASTER CYLINDERS AND BRAKE BOOSTERS, HE SAID CUSTOMERS ARE REPORTING THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. APPARENTLY THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE APPROXIMATELY 2014 AND ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON JANUARY 3, 2019.
ISSUE WITH DRIVER SEAT POWER SWITCH/MOTOR. DRIVER SEAT ONLY MOVES BACK NOT FORWARD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REACH PEDALS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SHIFTS HARD AND WON'T GO INTO OVERDRIVE
WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKES AND MY ABS KICKS IN I LOSE BRAKE PRESSURE AND IT TAKES LONGER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION IN SNOWY OR RAINY CONDITIONS, THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN ABS IS ENGAGED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED LAST YEAR, 2017, I SHOULD HAVE REPORTED THIS LAST YEAR AS WELL.
I WAS BRAKING ON A SLIPPERY ROAD AND THE ABS ACTIVATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN BECAME VERY SOFT. IF I PUMP THE BRAKES THE PEDAL THEN FEELS NORMAL UNITL ANY SUBSEQUENT ACTIVATION OF THE ABS BRAKES AND THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS FINE AND NO BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON - HOWEVER IN A PANIC STOP THIS COULD LEAD TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP.
