LETTER STATED PARTS SHOULD BECOME AVAILABLE DURING THE SECOND OR THIRD QUARTERS OF 2018. I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF PART AVAILABILITY. MEANWHILE AUTO IS BEING DRIVEN. FORD IS OFFERING TO PAY FOR RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THIS OFFER AS YET. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF PARTS AVAILABILITY. IN FOURTH QUARTER OF 2018. HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE OF A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT COMING FROM A BANKRUPTCY OF TAKATA. SUCH NOTICE RECOMMENDS REPAIRING AIRBAG AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WHEN I CALL THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THEY INSTRUCT ME TO WAIT FOR LETTER STATING PART AVAILABILITY FOR MY VEHICLE. I AM CONFUSED AND FEAR PARTS WILL NOT BECOME AVAILABLE AS PROMISED.

EXTENDED BRAKING. HAD MY ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT REPLACED DUE TO THE COMMON BRAKING FAILURE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. FORD DEALER REPLACED THE PART AND ABOUT 9MONTHS LATER THE PART FAILED AGAIN. BOTH TIMES I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND NARROWLY AVOID WRECKING. REPLACING THE PART DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
LAST MONTH, IN SEPTEMBER 2018 I WAS PARKING MY CAR, AND BRAKING TO DO SO. I WENT OVER A SMALL POT HOLE IN THE ROAD. LATER WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE IT THE BRAKES WERE SQUISHY AND WENT TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. THIS PROBLEM SEEMED TO GET BETTER, BUT THEN LAST WEEK I HAD ANOTHER DRIVER PULL IN FRONT OF ME AND HAD TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID A COLLISION AS THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY. NOW THEY GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO BRAKE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED BACK IN JUNE, ASKED THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THE BRAKE ISSUES WHEN MY AIRBAG WAS FIXED, AND HE SAID HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS AN ELDERLY WOMAN. I KNOW THIS IS AN ABS ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN KENNEDY FORD OF PHOENIXVILLE (730 VALLEY FORGE RD, PHOENIXVILLE, PA 19460, (610) 917-8200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED, BUT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURES AS LISTED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA18002 (SERVICE BRAKES, AIR). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. BRAKES WORK SPORADICALLY. SUBJECT OF NHTSA 19V904 AND FORD RECALL 19S54. WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HANDLED IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2020 BUT I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM FORD.
WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, THERE IS A SUDDEN DROP IN POWER (LIMP MODE), AFTER RESETTING THE CAR FULL POWER IS RESTORE. ERROR CODE REFERS TO THROTTLE BODY SENSORS.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS IN MY AREA MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF MY AIRBAGS AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER (FORD) BUT HAVE REPEATEDLY RECEIVED DELAYS FIRST ON THE CLAIM THAT PARTS FOR MY CAR WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND, AFTER NOTIFICATION FROM FORD THAT THEY WERE AVAILABLE, THAT PRIORITY WAS BEING GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAD ELECTED TO RENT REPLACEMENT CARS---WHICH I DID NOT DO BECAUSE THEY WOULD ONLY PAY FOR ONE MONTH AND I WAS ADVISED THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO RENT FOR MANY MORE MONTHS. THE DEALERS CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THE NEEDED WORK ON MY CAR MIGHT BE MADE. I NOW SUSPECT THAT THEY NEVER INTEND TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. I, THEREFORE, URGE THAT NHTSA LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION AND ADVICE ME WHAT TO DO. THANK YOU.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LAVANIA TOWING YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A FRACTURED STERNUM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR. THE PART WAS REPLACED AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. COURTESY FORD LINCOLN OF ROME (101 US-411, ROME, GA 30161, (706) 235-4453) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD SAYING THEY WILL PAY FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE AND TO CONTACT MY DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP BUT TO EVEN BE PLACED ON A WAIT LIST FOR A RENTAL I HAVE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE EXAMINED. AFTER MY VEHICLE IS EXAMINED IT WILL BE DAYS OR WEEKS BEFORE I AM GIVEN A FREE RENTAL CAR. I THINK FORD SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE ME DRIVING AN DANGEROUS CAR THAT I FEEL UNSAFE IN FOR WEEKS WHILE THEY GET ME A RENTAL CAR. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO WAIT YEARS FOR THIS REMEDY TO BE OFFERED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ROAD WHEN THE CAR JUST LOST POWER COULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE HAD TO USE E BRAKE TO STOP. TURN OFF CAR TRY TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WOULD NOT START ONLY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. CHECK ENGINE. HAD IT TOWED. MECHANIC DIAGNOSIS 1 OF THE BACK COILS WENT BAD ALONG WITH ECM/PCM. FRIED THE COIL ON THE PLUG FUSE AS WELL. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY WHEN YOUR DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR.CAR HAS 74,000. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE THIS CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY FORD WITH OIL CHANGES AND MULTI POINT INSPECTS. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MERCURY MILAN BUT NO RECALLS???

THE CONTACT CALLED THE STOKES HODGES FORD DEALER LOCATED AT 1850 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, GRANITEVILLE, SC 29829, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE GARAGE. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A SMALL LEAK NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BE PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN AT AROUND 30MPH. MY ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE. THEN WHEN BREAKING THE BACK BREAKS SEEMED TO BE TRYING TO LOCK UP. THEN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER THIS HAPPENED ALL MY GAUGES INCLUDING MY SPEEDOMETER, BLINKERS, HEADLIGHTS, RPM, ETC. BECAME INOPERABLE. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL DUE TO THIS ISSUE.

THE DEALERSHIP SAY THEY HAVE NOT RECIEVED THE PART TO FIX THE CAR. THEY SEEM LIKE THEY ARE MAKING EXCUSES TO NOT FIX THE ISSUE, IT'S LIKE FOR THEM TO HAVE TO FIX THE CAR IS A BURDEN TO THEM AND THEY WILL AVOID AT ANY CHANCE.

TAKATA RECALL I'VE RECEIVED 2 NOTIFICATIONS FROM MY DEALER THAT MY AIRBAGS HAVE BEEN RECALLED OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS BUT HAVEN'T BEEN NOTIFIED TO WHEN TO BRING MY CAR IN. WHEN I CHECK NHTSA FOR UPDATES IT SAYS THERE ARE "NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE". WHAT GIVES? SHOULD I BE WORRIED THAT THESE FAULTY AIRBAGS ARE GOING TO INJURE ME OR WORSE, MY FAMILY? THANKS. *TR
"TAKATA RECALL." I WENT FOR MY CAR INSPECTION AT MOTOR VEHICLE 4/9/18 AND WAS TOLD BY THE INSPECTOR THAT, NOT ONLY ARE MY TWO (2) AIRBAGS RECALLED, BUT ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! ALSO, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE REGARDING MY ANTI LOCK 'BRAKES, FROM SAME MANUFACTURER!' I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN, PLEASE HELP!! I WLD SINCERELY 'APPRECIATE' VERY MUCH ASAP! *TR
SERPENTINE BELT COME OFF MAKING THE CAR UNABLE TO DRIVE. OIL ACCUMULATES ON THE BELT PULLEY CAUSES THE BELT TO COME OFF.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN I BEGAN HEARING A NOISE FROM MY PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WHEN I WOULD BRAKE. I PULLED OVER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A FLAT, BUT DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I CONTINUED ON THE HIGHWAY HOME AND KEPT HEARING NOISES WHEN I WOULD BRAKE. I TOOK THE EXIT FOR MY NEIGHBORHOOD; WHILE I WAS ON THE ACCESS ROAD SLOWING DOWN TO THE SPEED LIMIT, THE PASSENGER REAR BRAKE LOCKED ON ME. I MADE IT TO A COMPLETE STOP ABOUT 100 FEET FROM THE LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION. AFTER TURNING ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO MOVE. I ENDED UP BEING ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR AT A SLOW RATE TO THE STRIP MALL ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY. I CALLED FOR A TOW, BUT ALL THE ONES I REACHED OUT TO HAD AN APPROX. I TOOK THE CAR AT A SLOW RATE TO TRY AND ENSURE NOTHING HAPPEN. WHEN I TURNED ONTO MY STREET, THE PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE ABS LIGHT TURNED OFF. I DROVE THE LAST FEW FEET HOME AND CALLED A TOW THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP IN QUEUE TO BE WORKED ON.

I CONTACTED APPLE VALLEY FORD LINCOLN IN APPLE VALLEY MINNESOTA (PHONE: 952-431-5900) AND THEY TOLD ME NO REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS ARE AVAILABLE AND WOULD NOT GIVE ME A DATE WHEN THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE! ADDITIONALLY THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE UNTIL THE AIRBAGS ARE REPLACED. I NEED THE AIRBAGS REPLACED IMMEDIATELY OR A LOANER CAR. I'VE DRIVEN AN UNSAFE CAR LONG ENOUGH.
ISSUE WITH PCM BEING SHORT CIRCUITED. RESULTING IN HAVING TO REPLACE IGNITION COILS, FUEL INJECTOR AND PCM. VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF ACCELERATING, STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND STARTED RUNNING TERRIBLY. KEPT CUTTING OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED AND EVENTUALLY STAYED ON.

TWO INCIDENTS, BOTH LIGHT RAIN DAYS, TRAVELING SPEED LIMIT, ON A CITY STREET - WHILE DRIVING I CAME UPON A SITUATION WHERE I WAS REQUIRED TO QUICKLY APPLY MY BRAKES. ONCE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE CAR DID NOT STOP AS SOON AS IT SHOULD HAVE AND HIT THE OTHER CAR. AFTERWARDS, ANYTIME I HAD TO TRY TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT WOULD STOP. THE FIRST TIME, I TOOK IT TO BE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS COMING UPON A LIGHT THAT WAS ABOUT TO TURN RED. I PUT ON MY BRAKE AND THE CAR ONCE AGAIN DID NOT STOP IN THE TIME THAT IT SHOULD HAVE.I WAS ALMOST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BEFORE THE CAR STOPPED. I HAD ALREADY HAD MY BRAKES AND ROTORS LOOKED AT SO I KNEW THAT IT WAS NEITHER OF THOSE. FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY DRIVE, I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT WOULD STOP. THIS IS A TRAFFIC SAFETY HAZARD, UPON DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM , THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, OR THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL ASSEMBLY HAS A STICKING VALVE IN THE ABS SYSTEM, ROUTING THE BRAKE FLUID THROUGH THE ABS SYSTEM INSTEAD OF TO THE BRAKES, WHERE IT SHOULD GO. WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE DOWN A SNOWY DRIVEWAY THE ABS ENGAGED BRIEFLY. MOMENTS LATER, I HAD TO BRAKE TO ALLOW AN ONCOMING CAR TO PASS, AND THE BRAKES WERE SUDDENLY VERY SOFT, PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS ONTO A CURB TO AVOID COLLISION. THE BRAKES REMAINED VERY SOFT AND SPONGY, THOUGH THEY IMPROVED A BIT WITH PUMPING.
TAKATA RECALL-I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES FOR OVER 1 YEAR, HOWEVER, NONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART. IN ADDITION, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A RENTAL CAR AS THE RECALL NOTICE STATES I CAN OBTAIN SINCE ALL RENTALS FOR THIS RECALL ARE RENTED OUT ALONG WITH THE FACT I HAVE A TEENAGE DRIVER WHO CANNOT GET A RENTAL CAR AT HER AGE.
AFTER THE ABS ACTIVATES, THE BRAKES GO SOFT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING IS DIFFICULT. IT HAS HAPPENED ON ICE PATCHES AS WELL AS HITTING A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD. THE MALFUNCTION MAKES DRIVING INCREDIBLY SCARY AS I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO STOP.
