BRAKES DO NOT WORK PROPERLY AFTER HARD STOP. SOFT AND SLOW TO STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 3 TIMES IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I REPLACE THE ABS UNIT A YEAR AGO WITH ANOTHER USED OEM ABS UNIT .TODAY AFTER HARD BRAKE STOP AGAIN I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE (SOFT AND SLOW TO STOP). I DROVE BACK TO HOME I'M PARKED THE CAR ON MY DRIVEWAY AND I CAN DRIVE THIS CAR TILL TO GET A NEW ABS MODULE. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME THAT I'M GOING TO BUY A FORD OR MERCURY CARS.
HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH SURFACES OR WET CONDITIONS WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AND REQUIRED A LOT OF PUMPING AND PUSHING IT TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE REQUIRED MUCH LONGER DISTANCES TO STOP AND CAUSED SON TO RUN THROUGH A RED LIGHT WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. BRAKES WILL WORK FINE THE NEXT DAY. TOOK TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. TOOK TO DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF ISSUES I RESEARCHED CONCERNING THE ABS CONTROL UNIT. THEY ESSENTIALLY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT EVEN WHEN WE WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. TRIED TO EXPLAIN ONLY HAPPENS UNDER THE ABOVE MENTIONED CONDITIONS SO FAR. WILL GET BACK FROM DEALER AND SEE IF ANOTHER LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WILL REPLACE THE ABS CONTROL UNIT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO UNKNOWN DEALERS. THE FIRST DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE A FAILURE. THE SECOND DEALER CLAIMED THERE WAS A TWISTED BRAKE LINE AND CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. 2 NOTICE FOR FORD IN REGARDS TO PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL AND NOW ONE FROM NYS DMV. NYS DMV SAYS PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, CALL SMITH CAIRNS FORD 914-337-8100 AND TOLD PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID SEPTEMBER AT THE EARLIEST.
TAKATA RECALL-I CANNOT SELL MY CAR WITH THIS RECALL NOT BEING REPAIRED. I NEED A REMEDY OR REPLACEMENT ASAP
DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET GOING DOWNHILL. BRAKES WERE WORKING FINE UNTIL THE MOMENT THE ABS KICKED IN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY LOW AND THE CAR IS NOW NOT BRAKING RIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. SHORTLY AFTER THIS THE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE PEDAL HAD EXCESSIVE TRAVEL. THE ABS PUMP WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN JULY OF 2018. FLOOD FORD OF EAST GREENWICH (2545 S COUNTY TRAIL, EAST GREENWICH, RI 02818) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR AND WOULD LET THE CONTACT KNOW WHEN THEY ARRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONTACT WAS NOT ON THEIR LIST TO RECEIVE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. The problem I am having is with the cars braking system. I have extended brake travel required to stop the vehicle for which I have been issued two recalls. Because of the extended brake travel, I was unable to stop in time and had a front end collision with minor damage, which was not reported. The problem first showed up when I was forced to brake hard a few years causing the ABS to engage. The brake pedal traveled to the floor until the next time the ABS was engaged. Shortly after that, I was issued a recall stating the exact problem I was having. When I took it to my local dealership to get it fixed, they performed a test, changed the brake fluid, and said the system was working properly. It was not. Took it back to the dealership when hydraulic control valve became permanently locked open. They inspected it again and said the ABS unit needed to be replaced but the parts were not available. Contacted FMC customer service, and they were unable to help me either. I asked for a loaner vehicle, and received no response. Since then, I have been issued another recall and am still driving an unsafe car in a Michigan winter. All I want is a safe car to drive.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY SENT ME A LETTER IN MAY 2018 SAYING THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE AIR BAG REPLACEMENTS BUT WOULD GET ME A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE REPLACEMENTS COME IN. I HAVE CONTACTED DEALERSHIPS AS THEY REQUESTED BUT NO DEALERSHIP CAN FIND A RENTAL COMPANY TO GET ME A CAR FOR THE $44 A DAY THEY ALLOW. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY MANY MANY TIMES SINCE MAY 30, BY PHONE, EMAIL AND LETTER. THE ONLY THING I HAVE GOTTEN FROM THEM IS A CASE NUMBER AS FOLLOWS: [XXX]. MY DAUGHTER HIT HER BRAKES HARD WHILE DRIVING ON ICY ROADS, AND THEREAFTER EXPERIENCED THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES. I TEST DROVE HER CAR AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. DUE TO BEING A SAFETY FACTOR, AND THE FACT WE LIVE IN THE MIDWEST WHERE TRAFFIC CONDITIONS ARE OFTEN SLICK, WE FELT WE HAD TO GET THE BRAKES FIXED FOR HER SAFETY EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDN'T YET GET IN AN ACCIDENT. YOU CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE A CAR WHERE THE BRAKES ARE LIABLE TO FAIL AT ANY MOMENT YOU HAVE TO HIT THEM HARD THROUGH NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED!

TAKATA RECALL. STILL UNABLE TO GET THE RECALL FIXED ON MY CAR AND I'M AFRAID THAT I MAY HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND BE IMPAIRED BY A FAULTY AIRBAG.
I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET MY AIRBAGS REPLACED AS PART OF THE RECALL AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA OF WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS. AS IT STANDS, IT IS UNSAFE FOR ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR AND I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ANY DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE IN MY FAMILY. I AM HIGHLY UPSET THAT THIS IS TAKING SO LONG AND THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE NO REGARD FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. AIRBAG RECALL; BRANDON FORD, BRANDON FL CONTINUES TO SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR OVER A YEAR.
I CALLED CREST LINCOLN IN STERLING HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN REGARDING AIRBAG RECALL 2 MONTHS AGO AND THEYRE STILLING SAYING PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. I NEED HELP WITH THIS ISSUE.
MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE IF I AM EVER INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THIS IS A CONCERN BECAUSE I'M A SCARED SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO MY PASSENGER WHEN I AM DRIVING. THE REMEDY FOR MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED THEREFORE IT IS A RISK TO DRIVE IN MY CAR.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MY BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE 2009 MERCURY MILAN. IT USUALLY STARTS AS HAVING TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES FAIRLY QUICKLY (EITHER SLAMMING ON THE BRAKE IN EMERGENCY, OR STOPPING OVER A DIRT ROAD OR SLOWING OVER A SPEED BUMP). THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL ACTIVATE THE ABS (PUMP 3-4 TIMES) AND DEPRESS CLEAR TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ACTUALLY STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER AND UNTIL I HAVE THE BRAKE LINES BLED THERE IS 0 PRESSURE IN MY BRAKE PEDAL (PEDAL CONTINUES TO GO TO FLOOR WITHOUT COMPLETELY STOPPING THE CAR). I RECENTLY HAD THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER REPLACED WHICH ONLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT TIME AND HAVE JUST HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING "SEEMS FINE" AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE SYSTEM. CLEARLY THIS IS A SAFETY RISK AND FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE!

THE CONTACT STATED ON 6/25/20220 WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER COMPLETELY STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND REAR ENDED THE FRONT VEHICLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED BUT NO REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT AND CAR FAILS TO STOP OR TAKES PROLONGED TIME TO COME TO A STOP. IF YOU PUMP BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY THE PEDAL WILL STIFFEN BUT GRADUALLY GOES TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWICE WITH NO RESOLUTION. RECENTLY HAD DEALER INSTALL NEW BRAKE FRONT AND REAR AND THIS HAS NOT ABATED THE PROBLEM. PRINTED DOCUMENTATION FROM NHTSA WEBSITE AND MADE THE DEALERSHIP AWARE OF THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION. DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT NOTHING FORMAL HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY. BRAKING PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING BUT PERIODIC FOR ALMOST A YEAR. LATEST OCCURRENCE WAS THREE TIMES ON MON 12/04/17.
SAFETY RECALL NOTICE16S26 / NHTSA RECALL 16V-384 TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED A LETTER STATING RECALL REPLACEMENT IS DELAYED AGAIN AND REMEDY PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE. FORD IS ADVISING NOT TO ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
"TAKATA RECALL" I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THIS RECALL ON JULY 2016, FORD MOTOR CO. WAS SUPPOSE TO LET ME KNOW WHEN TO COME FOR REPLACEMENT OF AIRBAG, WELL SOMETIME IN NOV. 2017 I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM T K HOLDINGS INC., WHICH MENTION THE RECALL. I THOUGHT THEY NEVER HAVE CALLED ME ABOUT THE RECALL. NOT LONG AFTER THAT I WAS GETTING MY OIL CHANGED AND ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL, I WAS TOLD "THAT WONT BE NO TIME SOON". THEN NOW IN DEC. 2017 I RECEIVE THIS NOTICE AGAIN ABOUT THE RECALL, WHICH STILL DO NOT HAVE A DATE, BUT STATES'DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN THE FIRST ROW PASSENGER SEAT.' I AM UPSET TO SAY THE LEAST, NO ONE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT, THIS MUST BE A JOKE; SINCE THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS OVER A YEAR AGO, AND NO SUCH STATEMENT WAS MADE. WHAT CAN I DO? I WAS DRIVING UP THE HILL & SLOWED DOWN FOR THE SPEEDBUMP. I STARTED APPLYING THE BRAKES TO TURN RIGHT INTO THE DRIVEWAY BUT THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD, CAUSING ME TO MISS THE DRIVEWAY & TURN INTO THE YARD. AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPEED UP SO I SCREAMED AT MY HUSBAND "JAMES I CAN'T STOP THE CAR!" HE YANKED THE HANDBRAKE UP BUT IT DIDN'T STOP OR SLOW DOWN AND THE ENGINE MADE A CONTINUOUS HIGH PITCHED RACING SOUND. WE CRASHED INTO THE HOUSE, DAMAGING IT & BREAKING MY LEFT ARM! THE CAR WAS TOTALED. ALL THIS OCCURRED IN JUST A MATTER OF SECONDS. FORTUNATELY OUR FAMILY WAS IN ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE AND WEREN'T INJURED.
