LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN LOSBIONDO ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2009 MERCURY MILAN AIRBAG RECALL AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IT FIXED. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL REPAIR EXCEEDED A REASONBLE OF TIME TO BE COMPLETED. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE *JS
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE MADE IT NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAIN.
ON 4 OCCASIONS, WHILE IN MOTION (3 TIMES WHILE COMING DOWN A HILL AND HITTING A SPEED BUMP IN APARTMENT COMPLEX AND 1 TIME ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER HITTING A SMALL POT HOLE IN A CONSTRUCTION SITE) I HIT THE BRAKES AND AFTER HITTING THE "BUMPS" MY BRAKES "WENT OUT" FOR ABOUT 20 FEET WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL FLOORED AND DIDN'T DECREASE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL. WHEN THE BRAKES START WORKING AGAIN, MY CAR BEGINS TO SKID FORWARD UNTIL I LET GO OF MY BRAKE PEDAL. THE PEDAL FEELS LIKE THE ABS KICKS IN. IN ADDITION, OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS, ROUGHLY, MY BRAKES HAVE BECOME VERY "SOFT", REQUIRING ALOT MORE PRESSURE TO STOP MY VEHICLE. I JUST HAD MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED AND THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT ALL. NOTHING ELSE WAS SAID TO BE WRONG WITH MY BRAKES DURING THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT.

RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD THAT< "WHEN PARTS ARE AVAIL BE, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM YOU THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND TO CONTACT YOUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR." RECEIVED THE SAME LETTER FOR MY 2006 MILAN MORE THAN A YEAR AGO, AND AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM FOR. IN THE MEANTIME I'M DRIVING A CAR WITH A BOMB IN MY FACE. MY COMPLAINT IS WHEN I SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DEALER THEY TOLD ME THERE ARE NO PARTS FOR THIS REPAIR! IF NHTSA HAS ORDERED FORD TO MAKE THIS REPAIR WHAT IS NHSTS DOING ABOUT MAKING CERTAIN THE FORDS DOES DUE DILIGENCE TO GET PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I WILL BE FORCED TO CUT THE WIRES TO MY AIRBAG SYSTEM IF THIS IS NOT DONE SOON. I DON'T WHAT SHRAPNEL IN MY FACE IF I'M IN AN ACCIDENT. I'LL TAKE MY CHANCES WITH MY SEAT BELT.

BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN PRIOR TO MAKING RIGHT HAND TURN AT A STOPLIGHT. WENT OVER A BUMPY AREA AS BRAKES APPLIED. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO CROSS TRAFFIC AT THIS STOP LIGHT INTERSECTION, AS THE CAR EASED INTO THE ROAD AND BEFORE I COULD GET BRAKES TO FULLY APPLY. AFTER THE INCIDENT THE BRAKES BECAME "SOFT", NEEDING TO PUSH MUCH HARDER ON BRAKE PEDAL TO BRAKE. INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 3/1/2017.
TAKATA RECALL 17S01 FORD REFUSES TO PROVIDE LOANERS FOR SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN RECALL LETTER.LEXUS,HONDA HAD SAME LETTER AND PROVIDED LOANERS?
TAKATA RECALL - MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT I CANNOT GET THE PROBLEM FIXED WITH A DEALER BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT. THE AIRBAG HAS NOT GONE OFF AS YET.

NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO FIX AIRBAG SINCE RECEIVING NOTICE MARCH 2017, BUT PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE AT 3 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL DROPPED INDEPENDENTLY 1-2 INCHES AND THE VEHICLE TOOK AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME TO SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BENSON FORD, INC. (4701 CALHOUN MEMORIAL HWY, EASLEY, SC 29640) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT DIRECTLY TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
WHEN BRAKING HARD, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN 2-3 MORE INCHES MORE THAN NORMAL BEFORE I COULD BRAKE THE CAR. ADDED EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO STOP THE CAR. THE PEDAL RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER 2-3 DAYS. HAPPEN TWO MORE TIMES OVER MONTHS, BUT LAST TIME DID NOT RETURN TO NORMAL. FORD DEALER REPLACED MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER, REAR PADS, AND REAR BRAKE LINES. DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BRAKES WORK, BUT ADDED PEDAL TRAVEL STILL EXISTS AND ADDED BRAKE EFFORT NEEDED.

THE VEHICLE RODE OVER A SMALL AMOUNT OF LOSE ASPHALT OR GRAVEL, TO WHICH THE ABS UNEXPECTEDLY ENGAGED, IMMEDIATELY CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO "GO SOFT" WITH AN AUDIBLE NOISE (THE ABS ENGAGEMENT??). VEHICLE CONTINUED INTO INTERSECTION BUT AVOIDED COLLISION. VEHICLE CAME TO STOP MUCH FURTHER INTO INTERSECTION. AFTERWARDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED (AND CONTINUES TO REMAIN) SUBSTANTIALLY SOFT, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO PRESS MUCH FURTHER. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE SUDDENLY, BRAKING NO LONGER WORKS AS ACCUSTOMED TO. *TR
TAKATA RECALL HAVE WAITED ALMOST A YEAR TO HAVE THESE FIXED. DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THESE TO FIX IT. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN TO ME OR A PASENGER? I AM TIRED OF THEM PUTTING ME OFF I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS FIXED NOW.

TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED NOTICE, IN MARCH 2017, FROM FORD, THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS BEING RECALLED. WAS TOLD THAT FORD WOULD SEND ME ANOTHER LETTER WHEN I NEEDED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. 8 MONTHS LATER AND I HAVE RECEIVED NO LETTER. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAVE NO ANSWERS. I WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL GET THEM IN. ON THE AIRBAG RECALL.COM WEBSITE, IT SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL SINCE JANUARY 2017.

I PUT IN A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ABOUT SOFT BRAKES AND NOW AM HAVING THE ISSUE AGAIN. LAST NIGHT A CAR CUT ME OFF AND SO I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES HARD AND AFTER THAT THE BRAKE PEDALS WENT SOFT AND HAD TO BE PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. TODAY THE BRAKES ARE STILL THE SAME AND MAKE BRAKING VERY DIFFICULT. *TR
MY BRAKES LOSE PRESSURE IF I HIT A BUMP WHEN BRAKING OR IF I SLIDE ON SOMETHING WHILE BRAKING. AFTER THE BRAKES LOSE PRESSURE I HAVE TO PUMP THEY BRAKES UNTIL THE PRESSURE BUILDS BACK UP WHICH USUALLY TAKES A DAY OR SO. TODAY I SLID IN THE SNOW AND COULDN'T STOP AND SLID INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO CORRECT AND AVOID A CRASH BUT NOT THERE IS MINIMAL PRESSURE IN MY BRAKES WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO JUDGE STOPPING THE SNOW WHILE PUMPING BRAKES. PREVIOUSLY THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN WAS STOPPING AND HIT A PIECE OF CARDBOARD ON THE PAVEMENT AND COULDN'T STOP AND WENT INTO THE INTERSECTION. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I DON'T BRAKE ON BRIDGES WHERE THE BRIDGE CONNECTORS ARE BECAUSE THIS ALSO CAUSES THE BRAKES TO LOSE PRESSURE. THE ONLY TIME THE BRAKES LOSE PRESSURE IS IF I AM BRAKING WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR SOMETHING THAT MAKES ME SLIDE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A YEAR BUT I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT UNTIL I SAW THE ARTICLE LAST WEEK, TODAY IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AGAIN SO I AM DATING THIS TODAY.
FOLLOWING AN ABS INCIDENT, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND GOES TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED THE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION.
THE BRAKES DO NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IN THE NORMAL DISTANCE, BUT AN EXTENDED DISTANCE. SINCE 2013 WE'VE HAD NUMEROUS REPAIR/SERVICING VISITS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE MOST RECENT ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2016. HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. AND JUST TODAY, MY WIFE REPORT THE PROBLEM IS AGAIN OCCURRING. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE ENDURED THIS PROBLEM PRIOR, FOR THIS REPORT, THE DATE WILL INDICATE TODAY'S DATE, AS THAT IS THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE.
SAFELY ISSUE WITH SOFT BRAKES. ABS MODULE FAULT. BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR
WHILE EXITING ONTO RAMP FROM EXPRESSWAY ON WET PAVEMENT, I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR. I DROVE OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. AS A RESULT, I NEEDED INCREASED DISTANCE TO STOP MY CAR. IF I NEEDED TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC OR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THIS INCIDENT WOULD HAVE RESULTED INTO AN ACCIDENT. MY BRAKE PEDAL RETURNED TO NORMAL SOMETIME LATER. I HAVE HAD THREE SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING MY CAR OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE ( WET OR DRY) MY BRAKE PEDAL TURNS SOFT AND GOES TO FLOOR. AS A RESULT INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WAS NEEDED. MY BRAKE PEDAL ALWAYS RETURN TO NORMAL SOMETIME LATER.
THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT HIT A BUMP GETTING OFF A RAMP FROM THE HIGHWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME 'SOFT'. HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO STOP. LOCAL DEALER HAS STATED THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE SEEN THIS BRAKE ISSUE ON A CAR BETWEEN 2007 - 2009, FORD FUSION\MERCURY MILAN.
THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND AS WE TRIED TO STOP THE BRAKES HAD TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. THIS WAS IN WET WEATHER BUT IT HAPPENED ALL THE WAY FOR 30 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE WAY TO WORK, AND 5 MINUTES THE NIGHT BEFORE ON SIDE STREETS. THIS WAS NOT BECAUSE OF ICY ROADS. ON THE WAY HOME IT WAS FINE. NO ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHTS OR STOPPING MECHANISM CAME ON. THE BRAKES SEEM TO RANDOMLY ADJUST AS TO HOW MUCH PRESSURE IS APPLIED. BRAKES ALSO SQUEEK WHEN BACKING OUT. THIS HAS BEEN LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION.
I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD WHEN I STRUCK A BUMP AND MY BRAKES WENT SIMULTANEOUSLY, THIS WAS 3WEEKS AGO SO I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT OTHER THAN I MAY NEED SOME BRAKES. I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD THAT WAS SLIPPERY DUE TO ICY CONDITIONS. I APPLIED THE BRAKES WHEN A CAR STOPPED SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BUT AFTER THE INCIDENT THE BRAKES WENT"SOFT" AND I HAD TO APPLY EXTRA FORCE AND PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO BRAKE ADEQUATELY. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CALIPERS BUT FIXED THEM. WHEN THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM HE PUT IN A NEW FACTORY MASTER CYLINDER WHICH ALSO DID NOT REMEDY THE SITUATION. HE THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. MY CAR IS STILL NOT BRAKING PROPERLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR IT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,202.
THE BREAK VIBRATES WHEN TRYING TO BREAK OVER ROUGH TERRAIN. ALSO THE BREAKING DISTANCE TAKES LONGER. SOME OCCASIONS I HAVE TO PRESS THE BREAK HARD ENOUGH TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.
AFTER THE ANTI-LOCKS ARE USED IN SNOW THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WILL STILL STOP BUT SLOWLY. TO GET THE BRAKING BACK TO NORMAL I HAD TO BRAKE HARD IN REVERSE AND FORWARD MANY TIMES TO GET THE BREAKING BACK CLOSE TO NORMAL. WHEN THE ANTI-LOCKS ARE USED AGAIN THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. THE PETAL GOES BACK TO THE FLOOR.
ON MORE THAN 5 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH TERRAIN OR A WET SURFACE MY BRAKES WENT SOFT AND FAILED TO STOP MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY. ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT THE SPEED LIMIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC TWO TIMES AFTER TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES FOUND. AFTER THE LATEST OCCURRENCE I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK CONTROL BRAKING MODULE. WE PAID A TOTAL OF $1,095.05 TO HAVE IT CORRECTED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THAT WAS SLIGHTLY WET THE BRAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN NEEDED TO BE PUSHED MUCH FURTHER IN ORDER TO WORK. THE AIRBAGS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WHEN CONTACTING THE FORD DEALER THEY SAID THAT THE COMPANY MAKING THE AIRBAGS HAS GONE BANKRUPT AND THERE IS NOT A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG FOR THE DEFECTIVE ONE IN THE VEHICLE. IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS IN AN ACCIDENT, IT COULD SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILL A PASSENGER. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR THE WAY IT IS AND FORD DOES NOT KNOW WHEN THIS RECALLED NEW PART WILL BE COME AVAILALBE.
WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE ABS IS ACTIVATED THE BRAKES SEEM TO GO OUT. THEY GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO WORK. BUT THAT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS THE WEEKEND OF NOVEMBER 25TH I HAD TO STOP SHORT AND THE BRAKES WENT OUT. THEY ARE STILL NOT BACK TO NORMAL I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PUMP THE BRAKES IF I DON'T THE BRAKE IS DOWN TO THE FLOOR. AND I JUST REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES DURING THAT WEEK. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE CAR.
AFTER HARD BRAKING ON AN ICY HILL ON A ROUGH UNPAVED PRIVATE ROAD, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT VERY SOFT AND HAS NOT RECOVERED. THE CAR WAS MOVING AT LOW SPEED, 10 MPH OR LESS AT THE TIME OF BRAKING. TAKATO RECALL I TOOK MY 2009 MERCURY MILAN INTO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP TO GET IT FIX. THE CAR ISN'T SHIFTING CORRECTLY AND IS ALSO HARD SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BURNT. WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING YOU AREN'T ABLE TO GO FASTER THAN 40 MILES PER HOUR. IF YOUR ON THE FREE WAY THAT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.THE TRANSMISSION SHOP REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND ARE STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CAR.
BRAKES BECAME SOFT. ABS SYSTEM AND TOTAL BRAKES FAILED. CAR WAS IN MOTION GONG THROUGH INTERSECTION WHEN BRAKES BECAME VERY SOFT AND FAILED TO STOP CAR
WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THERE WAS A CRACKING SOUND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I DROVE FORWARD AND PUMPED THE BRAKES THEY WERE ALMOST NORMAL. HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND BRAKES WERE NORMAL TO HIM. DID IT THREE MORE TIMES. WE HAD PADS ROUTERS AND ONE GALIPER ON THE BACK TIRES REPLACED. ALSO BLED ALL 4 BRAKES. WAS OK FOR A FEW DAYS BUT STARTED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON COUNTRY ROADS.ALSO HAD THE TIRES REBALANCED AND ALIGNED BUT NOTHING CHANGED. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO MY MACHANIC.DIGNOSTIC READ OUT INDICATED SOMETHING TO DO WITH AIR POLLUTION DEVICE( HE DID NOT KNOW WHICH ONE) UNTIL HE LOOKED AT THE CAR. NOW I HAVE A WRENCH LIGHT ON AND THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO STAY RUNNING, SMELLS " RICH RUNNING" AND WILL HARDLY GO DOWN THE ROAD. NOT TOO LONG AGO I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM ALSO, WAS RELOCKING DOORS AFTER I LOCKED THEM. I HAVE COMPLAINED SINCE DAY ONE THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THIS CAR. I THINK WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE NOW IS ALL TIED INTO EVERYTHING.

I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION CONCERNING BRAKING SYSTEMS IN FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN MODELS FROM THE YEARS 2007 TO 2009. I HAVE A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. TWICE IN AS MANY MONTHS, MY BRAKES "GO SOFT" AFTER DRIVING OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD (THAT NEEDS TO BE RESURFACED), REQUIRING SUBSTANTIAL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW AND COME TO A STOP. THE "SOFT" BRAKES LAST SEVERAL DAYS AFTER EACH INCIDENT, REQUIRING US TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO ENGAGE MORE QUICKLY. EVEN AFTER THE BRAKES SEEM TO "RECOVER," THEY TAKE MORE PRESSURE TO ENGAGE THAN BEFORE THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED (AND IS MORE NOTICEABLE AFTER DRIVING OUR 2010 FORD ESCAPE, WHERE THE BRAKES ENGAGE EASILY). *TR
A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, THE FRONT TIRES OF MY CAR HIT A ROUGH SURFACE DUE TO ROAD REPAIR ON MY WAY HOME, AND INSTANTLY I FELT THE ABS CAME ON AND I MAY HAVE SEEN A QUICK INSTRUMENT LIGHT FLASH. IT TOOK A VERY LONG DISTANCE TO STOP THE CAR AT THE FOLLOWING STOP SIGN, BECAUSE MAJORITY OF THE BRAKE TRAVEL WAS NON-FUNCTIONAL; I FELT I WAS LUCKY I WAS EVEN ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. AFTER RETURNING HOME, I INSPECTED THE BRAKE AND SAW NO LEAKS OR DAMAGES IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER SOME INTERNET SEARCH, I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FORD VEHICLES BUT WITH NO RECALL INFORMATION. THE CAUSE SEEMS TO BE THE HCU MODULE, POSSIBLY SOME VALVE COULD NOT FULLY CLOSE AFTER ENERGIZING, EVEN THOUGH MANY SHOPS REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER WITHOUT MUCH EFFECT. NOW MY CAR HAS EVOLVED FROM 80% NON-FUNCTIONAL BRAKE TO SOFT BRAKE PEDAL WITH LONG BRAKE TRAVEL. THE HCU MODULE REPLACEMENT COSTS OVER $2000. IT TOOK ME TWO MONTHS TO FINALLY DECIDE TO BRING MY CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. THEN I SAW THE NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT THE NTHSA INVESTIGATION, SO I DECIDE TO ADD MY CASE. I BELIEVE THAT THERE COULD BE MANY MANY FORD VEHICLES WITH SOFT SOFT BRAKE PEDALS ON THE ROAD, WHICH COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND LIFES.
