I was coming to a stop from 40 mph and CLUNK!!! The cross member on my suspension is rusted so severely that the wheel and steering column are in danger of being ripped apart. The car has 104,927 miles on it and is well cared for. Mitsubishi has recalls on this cross member part for 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and other years in states that use salt on the roads. I feel this part is defective and I should have a recall that gets my car repaired. I believe my driving conditions mimic northern salted roadway conditions. I lived in upstate NY for 39 years. I now live in Florida and drive directly on the beach sand in New Smyrna Beach. I tow a boat in and out of salt water. My car is sprayed off with my boat and trailer after every trip. I know how to fight salt. The cross member is defective. My car is a V6 and fits the parameters of the recall perfectly except I'm not living in the North. My car engine is in perfect running condition. My car is too dangerous to drive because of the faulty cross member. I am lucky I had enough sense to take it to a local garage or I could have literally been killed trying to make it 25 miles to my dealership. I was going 40 mph and coming up to a red light I put my foot on the brake and CLUNK!! IT WAS SCARY SCARY!!! I drove directly to my local garage. They examined it on the 10th. They called my husband and I and said you need to see this damage. IT IS BAD! The cross member is rusted on the driver's side of the car and is a hairs breath away from complete failure. The passenger side is fine.

The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent center to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V279000 (STRUCTURE, SUSPENSION); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 205,000.
Front windshield wiper motor went out and wipers no longer work
When visiting local dealership for a state inspection it was found the rear subframe of my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2WD Model XLS has rusted completely through. I an internet search it was found that this was a common occurrence and a highly dangerous issue and it would not pass for a safety inspection. It appears from the number of complaints posted on various message boards it is widely known that this inferior component exists in a number of years for this and other models in the Mitsubishi brand. While its was noted in posting that the Mitsubishi dealership recognized this defect as a recall item, it was not showing up in the NTSB safety recall list for my VIN [XXX] . Please advise as to the investigation into this serious component failure and the recall status via return email. The contact stated that the vehicle had been gifted to her grandson by his father, however when the vehicle was being inspected the contact noticed that the rear tail lights had not illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V564000 (Exterior Lighting), however the vehicle was not part of the VIN selection. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH over a bump in the road, and the front passenger’s side tie rod was fractured due to a corroded cross member, and the vehicle was undrivable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the front cross member and tie rod assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the VIN was included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V458000 (SUSPENSION). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while making a left turn at 10 MPH, the steering wheel jerked violently. The vehicle was stopped, and the contact became aware that the tire turned inward. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front sub frame, drive axle, lower control arm, ball joint, and tie rods needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while at the dealer for a scheduled service appointment, the mechanic became aware that the rear frame and the sub frame connectors were corroded, and the rear stabilizer bar was fractured in half. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
On approximately the 12th of May 2023 i was driving home, and while i was driving the TieRod from the passenger side came loose and caused me to lose control and this was due to the crossmember being rusty as per the recall, description.
I have been having problems with the wheel turning towards the left. Once I went to Firestone and got tires I was told the my suspension is very loose. It is getting more hard to control the steering.
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle was wobbling. The tire pressure monitoring system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front subframe was corroded and the front lower control arms and ball joints needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V458000 (Suspension); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 141,524.
The rear subframe is corodedbut no other part is. It is available to see if needed it won’t pass state inspection and it could break while driving
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the front driver's side A-arm separated from the vehicle and the vehicle stopped abruptly, causing the contact's body to slam against the steering wheel. The contact sustained back pains and received medical assistance. Upon towing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the entire subframe was severally corroded. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where the subframe was replaced. However, the dealer did not replace other corroded components. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle began to leak fluids after the repair was completed. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH and making a turn, the brake pedal was depressed but went to the floorboard and failed to respond. The contact engaged the electronic parking brake but it failed to respond. The contact then purposely crashed the passenger's side of the vehicle into the guard rail in order to stop the vehicle. The driver's air bag exploded, propelling burning chemicals that burned the contact's left arm. The contact did not seek medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated he had received a recall regarding the lower driver’s side subframe of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer repaired the subframe. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being State Inspected, the contact was informed that the driver’s side subframe was extremely corroded. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,899. The VIN was invalid.
Our 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander has several rotted out holes the size of half dollar coins in our crossmember which is connected to the control arms and it is making a loud banging sound when we hit any bumps.
THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER WAS A RECALL THAT I HAD DONE, THIS PAST WEEKEND I HAD MY TIRES CHANGED AND THE SHOP SHOWED ME THAT MY REAR CROSSMEMBER IS CRACKED. THE CRACK IS ALONG THE FACTORY WELDING. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS I HAD WITH THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER. IT CAUSES MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES AND I BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS CRACKED ALONG THE FACTORY WELD WHICH SHOULD HOLD BETTER THAN IT IS. THE REAR CROSSMEMBER SHOULD BE AS WITH THE BACK... RECALLED.
LEFT FRONT OF VEHICLE IS VIBRATING/ JERKING STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE WITH WHAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING RUBBING HARD ENOUGH TO JERK CAR SIDE TO SIDE. MAKING A BANGING NOISE WHEN TURNING AS THOUGH FRONT SUSPENSION IS BROKEN. I SEE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE OUTLANDER FROM A DEALERSHIP USED AND WAS TOLD FIXING THE RECALLS WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AFTER SIGNING PAPERWORK. UNKNOWN HISTORY AS I WAS LIED TO ABOUT ISSUES AND SALESMAN WAS FIRED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE.
MECHANIC SAID MY AXLE BOOT LOCK AND STRUT SPRING BROKE AND I NEED A NEW PASSENGER FRONT AXLE COIL SPRING. LOUD BANG WOKE US UP WHILE CAR WAS IN DRIVEWAY. RELATED TO RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 16V458000? ALSO POWER STEERING LEAKING EVERY TIME WE FILL IT, THAT ALSO MIGHT HAVE A RECALL FROM WHAT I SAW. MITSUBISHI DEALER SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY CAR BUT SEEING SIMILARITIES WITH WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. CAR WAS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN IT ANPPED

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE CRADLE TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V458000 (SUSPENSION). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TT *AS
ON MY 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER XLS ALL OF AT FLUID POURED OUT ON THE GROUND IN MY PARKING (ENTERING COMMUNITY PARKING) AND COMMUNITY DRIVE WAY AND CAN NOT NOT MOVE THE CAR,NO DRIVE AT ALL.THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. I TOOK PICTURE OF UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND SHOWS THE OIL DISCHARGE FROM TRANSFER CASE. I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND IT IS TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY OIL SEAL OUT OF POSITION. LOOKING AT THE RECALLS FOR MY CAR I'VE COME ACROSS THIS RECALL BY MITSUBISHI: RECALL NUMBER:14V365000. RECALL DATE:06/25/2014 REPLACEMENT TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY. I CALLED BOTH MITSUBISHI AT 1-888-648-7820 AND MITSUBISHI DEALER PAUL BLANCO IN SACRAMENTO AT 916-485-2277 AND BOTH OF THEN EITHER PRETEND TO BE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM OR DID NOT HONOR THEIR COMMITMENTS TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY AND RECTIFY THE FAULT/PROBLEM. MY SON ONLY WEEKS AGO WAS GIVEN HIS MOTHER'S 2007 OUTLANDER AS AN UPGRADE TO HIS FORMER VEHICLE. DAYS AGO, HE FOUND PIECES OF THE SUB FRAME BREAKING OFF UNDERNEATH AFTER HEARING AN ODD NOISE DURING OPERATION. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2007 IN OMAHA, NE. MITSUBISHI'S RECALL FOR SUB FRAME CORROSION DOES NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES PURCHASED IN NEBRASKA AS IT ISN'T IN THE NARROWLY DEFINED "SALT BELT" (ALTHOUGH IOWA IS INCLUDED). IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO OMAHA, NE DURING THE WINTER YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THE CITY PUTS AS MUCH SALT AND SALT BRINE ON THE ROADS AS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE NATION--WINTER WEATHER, I.E. SNOW AND ICE-- IN OMAHA IS SEVERE. VEHICLES THAT ARE OPERATED REGULARLY IN THE OMAHA AREA RUST PREMATURELY AND THAT IS A FACT. THIS VEHICLE IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE VALUE IS PROBABLY NEAR ZERO BUT MITSUBISHI WILL NOT COVER THE COST TO REPAIR. THE NHTSA SHOULD EXTEND THE SUB FRAME RECALL TO OTHER STATES WHERE THE USE OF ROAD SALT IS EXTENSIVE I.E. NEBRASKA, COLORADO, UTAH, ETC...THIS IS A TRAVESTY AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED DRIVING THESE VEHICLES.
TOOK MY 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER XLS V-6 TO DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL RECALLS INCLUDING RECALL NO. 16V-458 / SR-16-003 ON MAY 05, 2018. I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD IT DID NOT REQUIRE THE CROSS MEMBER REPLACEMENT AND THE ANTI CORROSION SPRAY WAS PERFORMED. AROUND 7:00 PM EDT SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2019 WHILE ENTERING A EXIT LANE ON US 119 NORTHBOUND AT THE GREEN ROAD EXIT, MY CAR MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND STARTING PULLING VERY HARD TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10-15 FEET. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ENTERING THE TURN LANE AND WAS SLOWING DOWN OR IT COULD HAVE EASILY FORCE ME INTO THE MEDIUM DIVIDER OR EVEN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I COULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD AND PUT MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY CONCERNED AS I HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER WITH ME AND IT IS A VERY CONGESTED AREA. I TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF I COULD DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE DRIVER DOOR HAD TO BE FORCED OPEN AS I LATER DISCOVERED AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE THAT THE FROM LEFT FENDER HAD BEEN PUSHED BACK INTO THE DOOR AREA BY THE FRONT TIRE. AFTER A QUICK INSPECTION IT APPEARED THE CONTROL ARM BROKE. AFTER REMOVING THE TIRE, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE CROSS MEMBER HAD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO EXTREME CORROSION CAUSING THE LOSS OF CONTROL AND ABRUPT STOP. THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM I HAD TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD MINE DID NOT NEED REPLACED. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE TO SHOW THE MISSING AND BROKEN CROSS MEMBER. THERE IS NO WAY THIS CORRODED TO THE FAILURE POINT SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS ALLEGEDLY COMPLETED. FURTHER MORE, IF TREATING THE AREA WAS SUPPOSEDLY SUFFICIENT TO PREVENT FURTHER CORROSION (AS OPPOSED TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CROSS MEMBER), THIS FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN PLACE. THEREFORE, EVERY CROSS MEMBER SHOULD BE REPLACED!
THE TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL DISLODGED, AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (AFT) ENTERED THE CASE ASSEMBLY, RESULTING IN POOR TRANSMISSION SHIFTING WITH A STRANGE SOUND. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY RECALL NUMBER 14V365000 (RECALL DATE 06/25/2014). BUT MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT DENIED THIS IMPORTANT POWER TRAIN - TRANSFER CASE RECALL, SAYING THIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY FOUR RECALLS, NOT INCLUDING THIS RECALL. THEY ALSO DO NOT HAVE ANY RECORDS ON WHERE AND WHEN THESE RECALLS WERE CORRECTED. I HAVE NEVER CONTACTED A SUCH BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
THE DEFROST DOES NOT WORK WELL ENOUGH TO KEPT WINDOW CLEAR FOR DRIVING. THE ANTI SKID ELECTRONICS KEEPS LOCKING OUT THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT ABOVE 3 RD GEAR. CAUSING A DRIVE SPEED LIMIT BELOW THE REQUIRED HIGHWAY MINIMUM. HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHARGED ME TO FIX IT BUT THE PROBLEM IS RECURRING.
THE CAR HAS ON THE PROBLEM LIGHT WITH AIR BAGS
I CRASHED MY CAR DUE TO THE ROTTING AWAY OF MY SUB FRAME AND CONTROL ARMS, MITSUBISHI IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT CROWN MITSUBISHI AND THEY ONLY JWANT TO FIX THE RECALL
MAIN CONTROL UNIT 8637C096 FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. DEALER REPLACED MODULE. VERY EXPENSIVE. THIS CAR HAD A LOT OF WIPER MOTOR AND OTHER RECALLS.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO NHTSA (COMPLAINT NUMBER: 11012748) FOR DRIVER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING AS WELL AS TO MITSUBISHI NORTH AMERICA (BUT GOT NOWHERE).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR GLASS SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A POLICE OFFICER AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE OFFICER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO PARK THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER (PERUZZI MITSUBISHI, 130 LINCOLN HWY, FAIRLESS HILLS, PA 19030) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO COVER THE REPAIR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR GLASS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
BACK WINDOW SHATTERED OUTWARD WHILE PARKED AND NO ONE IN IT.
I PURCHASED MY 2007 MITSUBISHI FROM QUAKERTOWN MITSUBISHI IN APRIL ON 2017. IN THE LAST MONTH MY CAR WILL BE STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION WHEN TRYING TO MOVE OUT OF PARK THE CARE WON'T MOVE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO GET MY CAR LOOKED AT. WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT I WAS NOT TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED A 59.95 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I DID NOT PAY THE FEE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE FUNDS. THEY DID REPLACE MY WIPERS PER THE RECALL. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW. I MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND STILL OWE OVER 9 THOUSAND ON THIS CAR.
ON JANUARY 2, 2018 OUR LOCAL OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURE WAS A NEGATIVE (-)20 DEGREES F. THAT MORNING WHILE STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY, BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE AND THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING PENETRATED THE INNER SIDEWALL OF THE 18" TIRE AND THIS RESULTED IN THE TIRE BECOMING TWO DISTINCT PIECES. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS AND POSSIBLE DEADLY ACCIDENT. UPON CONTACTING MY DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT UPON SEARCHING THE MITSUBISHI DATABASE, THAT A TSB 14-33-002 WAS NO LONGER POSTED AT THE DEALER INTERNET ACCESS POINT, APPARENTLY IT HAD BEEN PURGED FROM THE SYSTEM. I LEARNED OF TSB-14-33-002 BY OTHER SEARCHING ONLINE. MITSUBISHI WOULD NOT COVER THE FAILURE, DESPITE IT'S SERIOUSNESS TO PUBLIC SAFETY. I AM CONCERNED THAT 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDERS HAVE A METALLURGY PROBLEM OR FAULTY MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN, AND SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A NATIONAL SAFETY RECALL - AT LEAST IN COLDER CLIMATE STATES THAT USE CALCIUM CHLORIDE OR SALT ON THEIR ROADS. I HAVE THE CAR CURRENTLY IN A HEATED GARAGE AWAITING AN INSPECTION BY NHTSA OR MITSUBISHI. MY COMPLAINT IN WRITING TO MITSUBISHI REMAINS UNANSWERED. I SUGGEST THAT IF THESE VEHICLE SUFFER FAILED FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, THAT THE BROKEN COIL SPRING WILL BE CONSIDERED A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT RATHER THAN THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. IF THERE IS A CHAIN COLLISION INVOLVING OTHER VEHICLES, THEN AGAIN THE DRIVER MAY BE BLAMED AS THE CAUSE, WHEN IN REALITY THE FAILED SPRING WAS THE CAUSE. SUGGESTION: NHTSA MIGHT CHECK FOR ALL SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURE ACCIDENTS INVOLVING 2007 OUTLANDERS AND DETERMINE IF THEY SUFFERED BROKEN FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND A TORN UP FRONT TIRE. PHOTOS ATTACHED TO THIS REPORT. ADDITIONAL PHOTOS CAN BE TAKEN ONCE THE REPLACEMENT $260. SPRINGS ARRIVE AND WE REPLACE THEM, DOCUMENTING OUR FINDINGS. I AM WILLING TO SUBMIT FOR METALLURGY TESTS.
ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8 2017 MY CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE THINKING IT WAS SOMETHING SIMPLE MY HUSBAND COULD FIX. HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT. HE FOUND THAT MY FRONT CROSS MEMBERS HAVE COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON MY CAR TO SEE IF THERE WAS ONE AND I FOUND IT. IT SAYS THAT THE RECALL IS INCOMPLETE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO ABOUT GETTING THIS FIXED OR IF I AM GOING TO HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY MYSELF.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING BROKEN . WHEN PULLING OUT FROM PARKING LOT HEARD A RATTLE AND POPPING SOUND HAD IT CHECK BY A MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT THE SPRING WAS BROKEN
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2007 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER LS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A COUNTRY ROAD. THE HIGH BEAMS WORKED FINE. I HAD TO LEAVE THEM ON WHEN I WAS CROSSING OTHER CARS, WHICH CAUSED THE OTHER DRIVERS TO FURIOUSLY FLASH THEIR HIGH BEAMS ON AND OFF AT ME. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY! TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER WHO FIRST CHECKED THE FUSES, THEN TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH NEXT TO THE STEERING WHEEL, WHICH DID NOT HELP. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE SWITCH SINCE IT DID NOT DO THE TRICK. ON A THURSDAY MORNING, I WAS ASKED TO LEAVE THE CAR WITH THEM FOR AT LEAST ONE DAY, POSSIBLY TWO SO THAT THEY COULD DO AN "IN-DEPTH" INVESTIGATION AND CHECK IF IT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM. I HAD TO RENT A CAR TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION. ON FRIDAY AT 5 PM, I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THEY FINALLY FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM AND IT HAD TO DO WITH A "SMART FUSE BOX" OR "ETACS", THAT IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE PART AND THEY DID NOT HAVE IT IN STOCK, SO I WOULD NOT GET MY CAR BACK UNTIL WEDNESDAY OF THE FOLLOWING WEEK! I ASKED HOW MUCH THE REPAIR WOULD COST AND WAS QUOTED $1,300! I SAID GIVE ME THE CAR BACK TONIGHT AND I'LL COME BACK WHEN THE PART COMES IN. WAS TOLD IT WOULD THEN COST EVEN MORE IN LABOR, BECAUSE IT WAS TAKEN APART AND WOULD NEED TO BE PUT BACK TOGETHER, THEN "OPENED UP" AGAIN! SO NOW I AM PAYING FOR THIS EXORBITANT REPAIR PLUS SEVERAL MORE DAYS FOR THE RENTAL. I SEE THAT MODELS 2009 AND UP HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND AM OUTRAGED THAT THESE TECHNICIANS DID NOT FIGURE THIS OUT IMMEDIATELY, SINCE THEY HAVE DEALT WITH THE PROBLEM BEFORE. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL MATTER AS WELL FOR THE 2007 MODELS. MY CAR ONLY HAS 75,000 MILES OR SO ON IT AND I WAS HOPING TO DRIVE IT FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO. I WILL UPLOAD THE BILL WHEN I GET THE CAR BACK TOMORROW.
SHIFT LEVER GETS STUCK IN (P) PARK POSITION. WHILE IGNITION IS IN ON POSITION, BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, AND THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED THE VEHICLE WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK.

ON SUBSEQUENT VISITS TO TWO INDEPENDENT GARAGES FOR SERVICE WE WERE ADVISED OF SEVERE CORROSION OF UNDER CARRIAGE, STEERING PARTS, AND SUSPENSION. THE FIRST VISIT WAS IN OCTOBER 2016, SECOND VISIT IN FEBRUARY, 2017. IT IS EVIDENT THE WORK DONE BY THE DEALER WAS UNSATISFACTORY. Mitsubishi Motors has been contacted several times in the past about the ETACS system being faulty. The windshield wipers on this particular car went out in February, 2017, at which time they were contacted and rudely refused culpability. The car has had recall-related services completed: 2 windshield wiper recalls and a corrosion-related recall. I was told by the Mitsubishi tech in Asheville, NC that the recall on the wipers did not cover the faulty ETACS, "which is a common repair on 06-11 Mitsubishis." He was more than happy to give me a quote for more than $1,000 to replace the defective ETACS. We've replaced coil springs that snapped in two as I pulled out from my driveway with my children in tow - NOT covered by the recall because the mileage on the vehicle was 3,800 miles OVER Mitsubishi's pre-set mileage limit. I have had numerous problems out of the vehicle: coil springs snapped in two, ETACS failure, (still) non-functioning windshield wipers, corroded/rotted exhaust that cost nearly $1,000 to repair - not REPLACE but to REPAIR -, electrical failures related to headlights/interior lights/Bluetooth/cruise control, and severe cross member corrosion. I have reached out to Mitsubishi Motors several times since purchasing the vehicle, and other than speaking to extremely rude representatives three times by phone, no one has ever responded to me about my concerns. Most concerning right now: The anti-corrosion that was applied by the Mitsubishi dealership should have been a complete replacement of the front and back subframes, as BOTH are completely ROTTEN and CRUMBLING from rust! My daughter had been driving this vehicle with her baby in tow until recently! It is completely unacceptable that Mitsubishi Motors has not been held accountable and forced to fix these issues!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V680000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE RECALL REPAIR HAD ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
