1. "BRAKE" LIGHT CAME ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. 2. LIGHT FIRST CAME ON ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO AND HAS GONE ON AND OFF SINCE THEN. BRAKES WILL SOMETIMES LURCH AND ALMOST FEEL LIKE I HAVE NO BRAKES. I HAVE HAD NO WRECKS YET BUT HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS SINCE IT FEELS LIKE I CANNOT STOP AT FIRST. 3. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE MASTER SOLENOID OR MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR ALMOST $500 AND THAT THIS HAS BEEN PRETTY COMMON ON ALTIMAS WITH VARIOUS MILEAGE. NUMEROUS OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET. *TR
IN 01/12, WE SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED THIS PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FOR ITS LOW MILEAGE & NEW CVT TRANSM REPLACED ON 8/30/2010 AT 69,421 MI AT NISSAN FORT WORTH, TX. VEHICLE HAD 92.069 MI. ON 6/22-25/13, TROPHY NISSAN IN MESQUITE, TX SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THE BURNT UP CVT TRANSM WITH A NEW ONE AGAIN, FLUSHED OUT LINES AT 105,022 MI [AFTER ONLY 35,601 MI]; ALSO PERFORMED ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SERVICE, CLEAN THROTTLE CHAMBER, DECARBON UPPER ENGINE AREA; REPLACED & REPROGRAMMED INTELLIGENT KEYS. I PAID PAY $398.48 FOR AIR INTAKE CLEANER, INTAKE KIT, BASIC INJ FLUSH AND REPLACING DRIVE BELTS & FAN. I REALLY DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT HAD TO DO WITH REPLACING THE AUTOMATIC CVT TRANSMISSION.] SERVICE ADVISOR IGNORED MEMO FROM CORPORATE OFFICE NOT TO PLACE INTELLIGENT KEYS TO PREVENT A "NO START FAULT ERROR". ON 7/3/13 THE CAR REFUSED TO START DUE TO KEYS BEING PLACED TOGETHER. NEW CVT TRANSM INSTALLED BY TROPHY NISSAN STILL WHINES, STALLS, HESITATES, JERKS & GEARS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. ON 8/10/13 AT 110,856 MI, I TOOK CAR TO CLEAR LAKE NISSAN, LEAGUE CITY, TX. CVT WAS WHINING, JERKING,STALLING, HESITATING, NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY WHEN TEST DRIVEN BUT YIELDED NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES. ON 6/28/14 - 7/1/14 AT 118,531 MI, TOOK CAR BACK TO COURTESY NISSAN. I WAS LIED TO, CAR WAS NEVER TEST DRIVEN NOR CVT DIAGNOSED. TOOK CAR BACK TO CLEAR LAKE 11/22 STILL CVT DIDN'T GIVE DIAGNOSTIC CODES. WENT BACK 12/12/14, CVT GIVES CODES FOR NEW CVT AFTER ABT 25,000 MI. NOW WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT! CONTACTED NISSAN USA AGAIN VIA PHONE, THEN EMAIL 5/18/15. CONTACTED BY ANGIE, NISSAN USA, REGIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, 5/28/15 REFUSING TO REPAIR THIS DEFECTIVE CVT TRANM. NO CAR NEEDS 3-4 CVT TRANSM IN 8YRS!
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN JULY 2007. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES @16,000 MILES. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON THE DASH ALWAYS COMING ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE A/C COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AT APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MI. THE SECOND YEAR I OWNED IT, AT A COST OF $750.00. NOW, JUST AFTER MY THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF OWNERSHIP THE REAR SWAY BAR HAS BROKEN. IN CHECKING ON THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT ALL THESE ARE COMMON PROBLEMS. HOWEVER THIS SWAY BAR PROBLEM IS A DANGER FOR PERSONAL SAFETY. THE BAR IS MADE OUT OF A HOLLOW TUBE AND IT RUSTED INTO CLOSE TO WHERE THE BAR JOINS THE FRAME. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT, HAD THE CAR TOWED OR DRIVEN ON ANYTHING BUT PAVED ROADS. IT JUST BROKE FOR NO APPARENT REASON OTHER THAN POOR MATERIALS. OF COURSE THIS IS NOT COVERED EITHER!!! I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AND OWNERS SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR EXPENSE. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ONLY 23,000 MILES. THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY. SOMETIMES IT GOES BACK OFF QUICKLY, AND OTHER TIMES IT STAYS ON FOR A WHILE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS REPLACING, BUT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR RECALL. IT SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH A RECALL FROM NISSAN, THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE SO FOR THE SENTRA. *TR
MY CAR WOULD NOT START CONSISTENTLY. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH PUSH BUTTON START. YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE FOR THE START BUTTON TO WORK (AND HAVE ITELLI KEY). THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT REGISTERING REGULARLY, SO YOU COULD START YOUR CAR AND DRIVE SOMEWHERE AND BE STUCK. I AM LUCKY I HAVE AN HONEST MECHANIC WHO FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE BRAKE SAFETY SWITCH UNDER THE PEDAL AND REPLACED IT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WHEN NISSAN WAS NOTIFIED THEY CONFIRMED THEY HAVE SOLD THAT PART VERY OFTEN. I WOULD THINK THIS PART SHOULD NOT BE ONE THAT STOPS WORKING SO EASILY AND IS A RECALL/MANUFACTURING ISSUE. *TR
THE REAR SWAY BAR IS BROKEN, I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAS MY CAR EVER BEEN TOWED. NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN HOW IT BROKE IN HALF. *TR

2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WEARS & CUPS REAR TIRES SO BAD THE STEEL BELTS SHOW AND THE TIRES HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT 20,000 MILES. I HAD THE REAR SPRINGS, SHOCKS AND WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED AND REAR WHEELS ALIGNED AND TIRES STILL SHOWED THE SAME DAMAGE AT 20,000 MILES. THIS TYPE OF WEAR COULD CAUSE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING SERVICE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. I NOTICED A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHETHER THE ENGINE WAS COLD OR NOT. IT WAS LOUDER AS I ACCELERATED AND DIMINISHED AS I THE RPMS WENT DOWN. IT WAS A SOUND SIMILAR TO THE SOUND THAT CARDS MAKE WHEN INSERTED INTO BICYCLE SPOKES. AFTER A QUICK INSPECTION THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO ASCERTAIN THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS CRACKED AND NEEDS REPLACED. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER I AM STILL WAITING A NEW TRANSMISSION DUE TO HIGH DEMAND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO EXHIBIT AN UNUSUAL NOISE WITH EXTREME HESITATION DURING ACCELERATION. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND AFTER WAITING TEN MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED EIGHT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA 4 CYL SL. I WAS COMING HOME FROM A ROAD TRIP, AND MY CAR STARTED CUTTING OUT. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. MY TWO CHILDREN, AND MY DAUGHTER'S FRIEND, THREE PUPPIES, AND MYSELF RAN AWAY FROM THE CAR. I CALLED 911, BUT BY THE TIME THE EUFAULA FIRE DEPT. GOT THERE MY CAR WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. MY CAR IS A COMPLETE LOSS, AND I LOST EVERYTHING INSIDE THE CAR. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT LAST SUNDAY AND MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WAS DAMAGED IRREVERSIBLY WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE ENGINE, PUSHED INWARD AND THE FRAME OF THE CAR BENT. THE CAR WAS HIT TWICE FIRST BY LEFT SIDE BY A CAR COMING AT 50 MILES PER HOUR AND ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN MY CAR TURNED AND HIT THE CAR ON MY RIGHT SIDE. WITH THIS SERIOUS DAMAGE, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I WILL LIKE SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE IF IT IS BECAUSE OF FLAW IN THE CAR. THE REAR SWAY BAR ON MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5SL SNAPPED, WITH NO SIGNS OF IMPACT OR OTHER CAUSE TO BE SEEN. CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD INDEPENDENTLY ILLUMINATE SPORADICALLY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,984. REAR STABILIZER/SWAY BAR BROKE AND FELL DOWN NEXT TO THE REAR SUSPENSION. THE BROKEN PART SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AND COULD HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO REAR BRAKE/SUSPENSION RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL. I CALLED LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER AND HE INDICATED THEY HAD OBSERVED SWAY BAR FAILURE, BUT THERE WERE NO SERVICE BULLETINS/RECALLS. *TR
2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HYBRID- WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (APPROX. 65 MPH) THE CAR SHUDDERED AND VIBRATED. THE SHUDDERING AFFECTED MY ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS CARBON BUILDUP IN THE ENGINE. PART OF THE ENGINE (INCLUDING THE ENTIRE CYLINDER HEAD) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM- SINCE THEY GAVE THE DEALERSHIP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED ENGINE PARTS- BUT HAS NO PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP EXPECTS THE CARBON BUILDUP TO REOCCUR IN THE FUTURE CAUSING SHUDDERING/VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AND POSSIBLY REQUIRING THE ENGINE PARTS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 45000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE CAR WAS NOT AS STABLE AS IT USED TO BE. AS IT TURNS OUT, THE REAR SWAY BAR HAD SNAPPED INTO TWO. I MUST MENTION THAT THE CAR IS USED FOR A COMMUTE OVER PAVED ROADS AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT. APPARENTLY, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE (THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB). THE REAR SWAY BAR IS MADE OUT OF A HOLLOW TUBE AND IT BROKE BROKE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, NEXT TO THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE SWAY BAR.
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. I BOUGHT IT USED FROM A DEALERSHIP IN HOUSTON, TX ON 12/10/2008. I DROVE IT ALL OF 2009 AND TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER ON IN MARCH, 2010 AND THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS OUT. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND THE COMPRESSOR HAS GONE OUT. THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR
MARCH 2010 MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA SE STARTED SMOKING OUT OF THE EXHAUST WHEN FIRST STARTING AFTER SITTING AWHILE. THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP CAME ON.THE ALTIMA HAD LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT. THE SMOKING GOT TO THE POINT OF SMOKING ALL THE TIME WITH DENSE BLACK SMOKE. I CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND IT LOW. AFTER PERFORMING AN OIL & OIL FILTER SERVICE, I STARTED MONITORING MY OIL LEVEL AND FOUND THE 3.5 V6 ENGINE WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I CHECKED THE ENGINE LAMP CODES(PO420-3WAY CATALYST FUNCTION AND PO300-MULTI CYLINDER MIS-FIRE). I TOOK MY ALTIMA TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND HAD IT CHECKED UNDER MY WARRANTY, 60 MONTH /75,000 MILES GOLD PREFERRED PLAN. ON THE REPAIR ORDER IT STATED "SES NEEDS ENGINE / SLUGGED". I WAS CHARGED $107.07 AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. I CONTACTED THE QUALITY CONTROL ENGINEER @ NISSAN NORTH AMERICA'S HEADQUARTERS IN FRANKLIN, TN AND SHE SET UP A DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION WITH THE FIELD REP FROM THE ENGINE PLANT / DECCARD TN. HE STATED SINCE THE TIRES WERE NEEDING REPLACING IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND THE ALTIMA NEEDED WASHING, IT WAS A SIGN OF NEGLECT AND THERE-FORE THE SMOKING AND OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. THE REP SAID THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP CODE WAS FOR REFERENCE:NTB10-009 - A SEIZED EXHAUST SENSOR, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT RELATED TO THE SMOKING/OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I WAS EMPLOYED AT THE TIME OF THIS ISSUE WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, SMYRNA TN. I WAS A PRE-DELIVERY REPAIR TECH @ THE MANUFACTURING PLANT FOR 25 YEARS UNTIL MY RETIREMENT JUNE 28, 2010. I USED THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS THAT THE DEALER USED AND THE ENGINE PLANT FIELD REP USED ON MY CAR AND KNOW FOR A FACT THIS IS A WARRANTY ISSUE. IN MARCH 2010 WHILE IN FLORIDA THE ENGINE IN MY 2007 HYBRID ALTIMA DEVELOPED A "KNOCK" OR "RAP" WHEN COLD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN VENICE, FL AND AFTER KEEPING IT OVERNIGHT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEED HAS A PROBLEM THAT SOUNDED LIKE VALVES, BUT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO WORK ON HYBRID VEHICLES. I CONTACTED THE SELLING DEALER IN MAINE AND THROUGH THE NISSAN REP FOR NE FOUND A DEALER IN FT MYERS FLORIDA WHO WOULD LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY HAD EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND TALKED WITH NISSAN AND BELIEVED THE NOISE WAS A BUILDUP OF CARBON ON THE EXHAUST VALVES. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND WAS COMING UP WITH A SOLUTION AND WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. WHEN WE RETURNED TO MAINE IN MAY THE DEALERSHIP IN BANGOR MAINE SAID THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM OTHER THAN NORMAL NOISE IN THE ENGINE. THEY COULD FIND NO NISSAN RECORD OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR THE FLORIDA NISSAN FACTORY REP TO CONTACT ME. *TR
MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE CAR FILLED WITH SMOKE AND A FIRE BEGAN IN THE ENGINE AREA. *TR
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) DEAR SIR/MS., I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT MY CAR (2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HYBRID) ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY (FIRST FORWARD AND THEN BACKWARDS), FULL THROTTLE, ON FEBRUARY 21, 2010, WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PARK IT IN THE GARAGE. THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THIS INCIDENT. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE CAR, OUR HOME AND PERSONAL PROPERTY. THE COSTS FOR REPAIR OF OUR HOME AND CAR, AND REPLACEMENT OF PERSONAL PROPERTY ARE ENORMOUS (>$30K). I BELIEVE THAT THIS INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE ELECTRONICS/COMPUTER/ ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN THE CAR. NISSAN HAS INSPECTED THE CAR, BUT HAS NOT TAKEN ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR ACCOUNTABILITY. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS VEHICLE SAFE, AND ACCORDINGLY, I DO NOT INTEND TO GET IT REPAIRED. AT THE SAME TIME, I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR USE, AND AS A RESULT I AM IMMOBILE AND GOING THROUGH GREAT DIFFICULTIES. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO COOPERATE AND RESOLVE THIS MATTER. I OWN A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WHICH I DISCOVERED HAS A BROKEN REAR SWAY BAR! IT HAS NOT BEEN TREATED HARSHLY AND IS USED FOR A COMMUTE OVER PAVED ROADS. IT WAS NOT IN ANY ACCIDENT. IT APPEARS TO BE OF POOR DESIGN. IT IS A HOLLOW TUBE BROKE NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING. DEALER STATES THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER WITH THE MANUFACTURER, HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE AND CAN BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE CONSOLE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH IT THERE WERE TWO BALLS OF FIRE COMING FROM UNDER THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND STATED THAT THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

ON 01/25/2010, I WAS DRIVING FROM WORK AND WHILE I ATTEMPTED TO STOP TO A LIGHT,THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. I COULDN'T CONTROL THE CAR ANYMORE. THE CAR SLID, AND HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE BACK,BUT BECAUSE THE SPEED WAS LOW, THE DAMAGE WAS MINOR. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WAS FROZEN ; THE POLICE CAME AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY AUTOBODY SHOP; AFTER THE OUTSIDE DAMAGE WAS FIXED, THE CAR WAS TRANSPORTED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE.(THE SOFT WARE WAS MESSED UP,AS THE DEALER TOLD ME).AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THE SOFTWARE WAS RESET. THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE THOUGH THAT THIS INCIDENT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND EXPLAINED THAT THIS CAR HAD A GENERAL INSPECTION LESS THAN 2 MONTHS PRIOR THE ACCIDENT AND THE ANNUAL REVISION LESS THAN3 WEEKS PRIOR THE ACCIDENT, AND NOW, EVEN THE CAR WAS FIXED THE NISSAN DEALER CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SYSTEM WILL NOT FAIL AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER DECIDED TO SENT THE CAR FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION TO THE SAME NISSAN DEALER THAT COULDN'T GUARANTEE THE SAFETY OF MY CAR. AT THIS POINT, I AM AFRAID DRIVING THE CAR. *TR

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY NISSAN 2007 ALTIMA. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW WITH ONLY A FEW HUNDRED MILES. I HAVE HAD AN OIL LEAKING PROBLEM ( FIRST IT ONLY LEAKED WHEN PARKED, GOT FIXED & NOW LEAKS WHEN DRIVING ONLY), ENGINE RATTLE, CLICKING WHEN DRIVING AND NOT MOVING(SOUNDS LIKE DIESEL ENGINE), TRANSMISSION FEELS UNSMOOTH SOMETIMES WHEN SHIFTING(SINCE PURCHASED BUT BLAMED ON CVT TRANSMISSION & NOT BEING USED TO IT), BUTTON UNDER BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE REPLACED (CAR WOULDN'T START WHEN PUSHING BUTTON AND THOUGHT IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM, BUT BUTTON UNDER FOOT PEDAL WAS STICKING & WASN'T GETTING CONTACT TO START CAR) BELTS WERE RUBBING STRANGE, HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS DISABLED. WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAG WAS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FOLLOW UP TO COMPLAINT NUMBER 10198578. THE ENTIRE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS EVENTUALLY REPLACED WHILE THE CAR HAD ONLY 4500 MILES ON IT. AT AROUND 60,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (8/31/09) SO I TOOK IT TO DO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY RECEIVED TRANSMISSION CODES. NISSAN HEADQUARTERS GOT INVOLVED AND DETERMINED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THIS WILL BE MY THIRD TRANSMISSION ON A CAR THAT IS A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT. NISSAN HAS SAID THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS HAVE HAD FEW PROBLEMS, AND INSTEAD OF REPAIRING THEM, THEY ARE JUST GETTING REPLACED. NO FURTHER EXPLANATION WAS GIVEN. I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS. *TR
I HAVE A RUBBING OR SCRAPING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY CAR ONLY WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE NISSAN DEALER COULD HEAR IT BUT COULD NOT ISOLATE IT. MY NEW NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SL HAD A DEAD BATTERY 4 TIMES WITHIN 20 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO NISSAN FACTORY SERVICE THREE TIMES (ONE TIME THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED) - BUT THE PROBLEM NEVER RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET AND IS NOT THE BATTERY ITSELF, BUT RELATED TO FAILURES IN THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND "SMART KEY" ELECTRONICS. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON JULY 8, 2009 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH FOR SERVICE AND REQUESTED THEY CHECK THE SUNROOF AS WELL, IT HAD BEEN SQUEAKING WHEN OPERATED - OPENING AND CLOSING. NISSAN LUBED THE TRACK. ON MARCH 19, 2010 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH FOR SERVICE AND REQUESTED THEY CHECK THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF, SUNROOF STILL SQUEAKING OFF AND ON WHEN OPERATED - OPENING AND CLOSING. NISSAN LUBED WINDOWS FOR NOISE. JUNE 2011 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH BECAUSE SUNROOF MADE AND AWFUL NOISE AND STOPPED WORKING IN MID-CLOSE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN MANUALLY HAD TO CLOSE THE SUNROOF.
06/30/09 (24,999 MILES): THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR TWO-THREE DAYS BEFORE THE PEDAL AUTOMATICALLY DEPRESSED. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAK AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPLACED FRONT CALIPER ASSEMBLY PER NTB08-057A AND REPLACED REAR PADS AND HARDWARE PER NTB08-047A. 01/21/2011: THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR ONE DAY BEFORE THE PEDAL AUTOMATICALLY DEPRESSED. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAK AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. 02/17/2012 (69,504 MILES): THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAK AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. NISSAN DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY FOUND THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW, CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHT TO BE ILLUMINATED. *TR
AFTER 14,000 MILES OF USE THE CLUTCH FAILED TO ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING UP HILL AND SHIFTING LOST ALL DRIVE GEARS AND FORWARD POWER. STRANDED IN TRAFFIC UNABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CLUTCH HAD BURNED OUT WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCH DISC. *TR
ON JUNE 8, 2009 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, BUT ALSO REQUESTED THE BRAKES TO BE CHECKED BECAUSE THEY HAD JUST RECENTLY BEGAN TO GRIND. WITH THIS SERVICE, NISSAN NOTED A COMPLETE BRAKE INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. BEFORE I GOT HOME, THE BRAKES BEGAN GRINDING AGAIN SO TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK INTO NISSAN NORTH ON JUNE 9, 2009. ALTHOUGH, JUST THE DAY BEFORE WE'D BEEN TOLD NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG WITH THE BRAKES THEY CHARGED US $100.00 TO MACHINE THE FRONT ROTORS. ON JULY 8, 2009 TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK INTO NISSAN NORTH BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE NOW GRINDING MUCH WORSE THAN INITIALLY. NISSAN SAID THEY COULD LUBRICATE PADS, BUT NOT MUCH ELSE. ON MARCH 19, 2010 TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK INTO NISSAN AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT PADS AND TURNED THE ROTORS AS WELL AS REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES AND TURNED THE DRUMS AND ROTORS AT A COST OF $400.00 TO US. BRAKES HAVE SQUEAKED OFF AND ON, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT RAINS AND NISSAN SAYS THIS HAPPENS SOMETIMES? JUNE 2011 THE BRAKE LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED, AND HAS CONTINUED TO DO SO INTERMITTENTLY.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA THE ENGINE STALLED. UPON EXITING THE CAR WE SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE HOOD. AFTER OPENING IT, WE SAW THE AIR FILTER HOUSING GLOWING AND THE SMOKE COMING FROM IT. THE POLICE PULLED THE AIR FILTER OUT WHICH STOPPED THE SMOKING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER WHO WOUND UP REPLACING THE AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY, COVER, AIR FLOW SENSOR, ETC FOR $888.19. THE ONLY EXPLANATION THEY COULD GIVE ME FOR THE CAUSE WAS A CIGARETTE BUTT OR SOMETHING SIMILAR GOT SUCKED UNTO THE AIR INTAKE. THERE WERE NO OTHER COMPONENTS INVOLVED THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM - PE07026. I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO HELP US. THE DEALER BROUGHT IN A NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE WHO WOULD NOT HONOR OUR REQUEST. I ALSO HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH NISSAN BUT WAS TOLD THIS WASN'T COVERED. SINCE THE CAUSE OF THIS FIRE IS AN EXACT MATCH TO THE REASON FOR THIS RECALL I BELIEVE THE RECALL WAS NOT AS COMPREHENSIVE AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. IF THIS CAN HAPPEN TO US WHILE JUST DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH NISSAN TO TRY TO GET THIS COVERED BUT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. *TR
WHILE EITHER STARTING OR AFTER STARTING MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ENGAGE. THIS CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO EITHER NOT START OR THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES TO INCLUDE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNLESS THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LAST NIGHT WHILE DRIVING HOME MY LIGHTS WORKED FINE. THEN I PARKED MY CAR FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF NEEDED TO STOP FAST. I HAVE READ FORUMS WHERE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES, LIKE YEAR AND MODEL. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT IT IS EASIER TO TELL THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP. BUT DURING THE DAY YOU EXPECT THE LIGHTS TO WORK AND THEY MIGHT NOT. *TR
