TIRES. GOODYEAR VIVA 3 MODEL, SIZE 215/55R16 (AND MOST OTHER SIZES). THESE TIRES GO OUT OF ROUND AT EXCEPTIONALLY LOW MILEAGE. AN COMMON COMPLAINT AT WALMART (THE ONLY RETAILER THAT SELLS THIS MODEL) IS THAT THE TIRES GO OUT OF ROUND, PRODUCE UNBELIEVABLE NOISE, AND VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE EXPERIENCE BOTH THESE EFFECTS AS WELL, AND THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED ON A NEWLY (DAYS BEFORE) ALIGNED VEHICLE, AND HAVE LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON THEM. THESE TIRES SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD, THEY ARE NOT SAFE. TIRES THAT GO OUT OF ROUND, AT LESS THAN 5,000 MILES, SOMETHING IS GOING ON THERE. (IN MY CASE, I HAVE ONLY TWO OF THE TIRES (ONE AXLE) BUT ONE IS OK (SO FAR), AND THE OTHER IS CLEARLY NOT. BUT WHEN I WENT AND READ THE REVIEWS, I FOUND OVER HALF THE COMPLAINTS WERE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM (OUT OF ROUND, AND MASSIVE VIBRATION AND NOISE). THE OTHER HALF OF THE COMPLAINTS ON LOW MILEAGE LIFESPANS. BUT THE TIRES GOING OUT OF ROUND, AND CAUSING VIBRATION IN HUGE NUMBERS OF VEHICLES, THAT IS SOMETHING NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE. HENCE MY COMPLAINT. I WILL SOON BE REPLACING THESE TIRES ON MY VEHICLE, I DON'T THINK THEY ARE SAFE TO DRIVE ON.
THE STRUCTURAL SUPPORT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR AND THE MAIN ENGINE MOUNT IS RUSTED ALL OUT NOW MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR WHEN I WAS DRIVING WAS MAKING A NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND THEN PULLED OVER TO DISCOVER THAT THE THE MOTOR MOUNT WAS RUSTED OUT FROM THE RADIATOR SUPPORT
2000 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY OR SECONDARY ROAD THE VEHICLE STARTS TO BUCK. SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE (TCS) TRACTION CONTROL AND SLIP LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. THIS CAUSES ME TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND DECELERATE IN HI SPEED TRAFFIC ALMOST LEADING TO REAR END COLLISIONS. I HAVE TRIED TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BY RESETTING THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT AND SPEAKING TO MECHANICS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. AT TIMES THE TCS WILL ACTIVATE ( SOMETIMES STALL ) WHILE I AM PULLING INTO TRAFFIC OR MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY ( RPM'S GO TO 2000 MAXIMUM WHEN THIS HAPPENS ) CAUSING CONCERN TO MYSELF OR OTHER MOTORIST. THE VEHICLE HAS 190K AND I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE 01/26/2018. THE VEHICLE OPERATED PERFECTLY UNTIL 07/2018. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED SINCE 04/2018 AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THE CAR PUT IN A SHOP FOR REPAIRS. I AM CAPABLE OF DOING MY OWN MECHANICAL REPAIR ONCE I CAN DIAGNOSE THE ROOT CAUSE. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER AT MY DISPOSAL. MY MAIN CONCERN BEING SAFETY TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. ANY HELP WITH THIS SITUATION WILL BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED. TAKATA RECALL, AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING... WON'T SHUT OFF. STATIONARY, MOVING, ANYWHERE
CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LOST POWER AND STALLED THE DASHBOARD HAS NO LIGHT AND BATTERY IS CHARGED THAN WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IT DRAINS AND SHUTS OFF .
I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY ON FREEWAY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR, AND THE ROAD WAS FLAT AND HAD NO OBSTACLE. THEN THE AIRBAGS ON DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HIT ANYONE OR ANYONE HIT ME. I DID HAVE ONE COLLISION ONE YEAR EARLIER IN WHICH THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
UPON INSPECTION THE FRAME AND CROSS MEMBER ARE RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR. IT IS NOW TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND ULTIMATELY USELESS. THE MECHANIC IS AFRAID TO LET THE CAR DOWN OFF THE LIFT TO SUPPORT ITS OWN WEIGHT. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE AND EVEN CLOSE TO ACCEPTABLE? THIS CAR HAS BEEN STORED IN A GARAGE, NOT DRIVEN OFTEN, AND PROPERLY MAINTAINED. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH, CONSCIOUSNESS WAS LOST AND AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND WHIPLASH INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
THE FRAME IS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT ON MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 158,000 MILES. MY MECHANIC HAD IT UP ON HIS LIFT LAST WEEK AND POINTED OUT THAT THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE PORTION HAD A BREAK IN IT AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ONE MORE POT HOLE AND THE ENGINE/TRANNY WILL BE IN THE STREET. WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN VEHICLE AGAIN.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR AT A BUY HERE PAY HERE LOT THE ABS SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT IS ON AND THE BRAKES ALMOST GO TO THE FLOOR I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ACCULATOR OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE AND DEALERSHIP SAID THERE MAY BE A RECALL IT SHOULD BE CAUSE THE COST IS OVER 1,000.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE CAR RUNS GOOD BUT THAT IS ALOT OF MONEY TO SPEND ON A USED CAR KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE AND THAT NO DEALERSHIPS BUY HERE PAY HERE LOTS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO CREDIT GET STUCK WITH A GOOD RUNNING CAR AND THE BRAKES ARE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE

I AM THE ORIGINAL AND CURRENT OWNER OF A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH ABOUT 115,000 MILES. MY MECHANIC RECENTLY TOLD ME THAT THE MAXIMA NEEDS ABOUT $2000 OF BODY WORK DUE TO RUSTED FLOOR BOARDS AND ENGINE MOUNT. THE MAXIMA WAS IMMACULATELY KEPT IN A GARAGE FOR MOST OF ITS LIFE SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS RUST PROBLEM SHOULD BE HAPPENING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS AND RECTIFY.
THERE WAS NO FAILURE; MECHANIC NOTICED BAD SIDEWALL ON RIGHT TIRE. SHORTLY AFTER, SIDEWALLS WENT BAD ON TWO ADDITIONAL TIRES WITH DRY-ROT CRACKING NOTICED THROUGHOUT TREADS. WIRE BANDS CAN BE SEEN ON LEFT FRONT TIRE SIDEWALL FROM A "GOUGE-OUT". MANY DEEP CRACKS ON ORIGINAL RIGHT FRONT TIRE; BACK LEFT TIRE IS STARTING TO CRACK ON SIDEWALL FROM THE INSIDE (IT APPEARS). I HAVE A 2000 MAXIMA WITH 150,000 MILES. I CARRIED IT FOR INSPECTION AND IT FAILED DUE TO THE FRONT END BEING RUSTED OUT. THE PIECE THAT HOLDS THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CAME INTO THE CONTACT'S PATH WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

OUR CONFIRMATION FOR EARLIER COMPLAINT IS : 10628840 SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, IT IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM. WE HAD ENGINE LIGHT AND SUSPENSION PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING CAR SOME TIMES STARTS WAVERING AND JUMPING. ALSO GETS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE STEERING. THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNT IS ONLY PARTIALLY ATTACHED AS THE MAIN BEAM IS SEVERELY RUSTED. HE TOLD ME THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WAS A NOISE IN THE CAR AND IT WAS TIME FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED REPLACING. THE PAINT JOB HAS DETERIORATED BADLY EVEN I HAD KEPT IT CLEAN AND WAXED. *TR

DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR KNOWN AS A TENSIONER NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. THIS CREATES A PROBLEM FOR THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM . THE LAP SHOULDER BELT IS LOOSE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY. I CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THEIR WRITTEN POLICY THAT THEY WILL PICK UP THE CHARGE TO REPLACE THE UNIT FOR LIFE. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT I WAS OUT OF THAT WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET A NEW SEAT BELT FOR $180.00. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND THE RESTRAINTS ARE GOING OUT ON MANY OF THEM. TAKES A LOT OF MONEY TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS AND THE COST TO FIX IS USUALLY 600 TO MORE THAN 1000 DOLLARS, NOT TO MENTION ALL THE THINGS REPLACED TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. ALL COIL WIRES HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WONT SHOW WHICH CYLINDER IT IS, WHEN DRIVING ALL LOSS OF RPM THEN STOPS SUDDENLY WITH NO STEERING BECAUSE IT LOCKS UP. *TR
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. MOTORCYCLES EVERYWHERE. TRAFFIC. IM IN THE FAR LANE ON THE BELTWAY AND MY EXITS COMING UP. MOTORCYCLES EVERYWHERE. HEAVY TRAFFIC TOO BUT ITS MOVING. I CANT CUT OFF THE MOTORCYCLES. SO I WAIT TO PASS THEM. IM MERGING, LOOKING TO THE SIDE, LOOKING BEHIND ME. I WASN'T PAYING TO MUCH ATTENTION TO WHAT WAS COMING UP IN FRONT OF ME. A TRIANGLE CURB RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I SWERVE TO MY LEFT. REAR RIGHT TIRE HITS THE CURB AND TAKES LIFT OFF. AND SO DOES THE CAR, RIGHT INTO THE CENTER OF THE BELTWAY. I HAVE IT, I CAN FEEL ME GAINING CONTROL. THEN I FEEL THE FRONT TIRES LOOSE IT. AND THERE'S THE WALL. SMACK. FACE FIRST. SPIN AROUND ONE GOOD TIME. ROLL TO A STOP PERFECTLY ON THE SMALL SHOULDER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. WELL IM STICKING OUT A LITTLE BUT IM OUT OF THE WAY. NO ONE HIT ME. NO OTHER ACCIDENTS WERE CAUSED. ONLY ONE COUPLE STOPPED BUT THAT'S OK. AND ONLY AFTER THE SHAKING WORE OFF, AND I STOPPED CRYING DID I REALIZE. "HEY, WHY DIDN'T THE AIR BAGS GO OFF?" THIS WAS A PRETTY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THERE'S FRAME DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR. TOTALED! EVERYONE WAS OK. NECK PAINS AND A BRUISED KNEE. BUT CONSIDERING THE CONDITIONS OF THIS ACCIDENT, IT COULD HAVE GONE WAY WORST. I HAVE A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA. RECENTLY THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN PILING ON. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING IN THE SUMMER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. THE AIR CONDITIONER NEEDS A NEW PUMP AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT I WAS TOLD IS THE O2 SENSOR. TODAY IS 1/27/13 AND A WEEK AGO MY POWER STEERING BELT SHREDDED. IT CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL TEMPORARILY BUT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO MY LOCAL GARAGE TO BE FIXED. THE MECHANICS SAID IT WAS NOT ONLY THE POWER STEERING BELT BUT THE ALTERNATOR BELT AND THE PUMPS AS WELL. THE PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF AND I PICKED THE CAR UP. BEFORE I PULLED OUT I TRIED THE HEAT AND DEFROST BUT THEY WOULD NOT WORK NOW. THE HEAT AND DEFROST HAD BEEN ACTING STRANGE AND SMELLED AS IF BURNING WAS HAPPENING. THE HEAT WOULD BE HARD TO TURN OFF AT TIMES. THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF HEAT WERE ALL THE SAME MOST TIME. THE MECHANICS LOOKED AT IT LATER AND SAID THE CAR NEEDS A O2 SENSOR AND THE WHOLE CLIMATE CONTROL MECHANISM. THE MECHANISM ON MY CAR HAD MELTED WIRES. I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A LOT OF WEIRD ELECTRICAL QUIRKS OUTSIDE OF THEE HEAT. I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF DECAY FOR A CAR USED EVERYDAY. THE PROBLEMS THAT PROMPTED ME TO LOOK ONLINE ABOUT THESE ISSUES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUES PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE AT THE SAME MILEAGE. O2 SENSOR, ELECTRICAL, DECAY, ETC.. ANYONE WHO OWNS THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST WARNED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE PROBLEMS THIS VEHICLE HAS AND PARTS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED OR FIXED CAN LEAD TO PEOPLE GETTING IN FATAL CRASHES. I WONDER WHAT THE STATISTICS FOR FATAL CRASHES WITH THESE MODEL YEARS ARE COMPARED TO OTHER? *TR
MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS A 2001 SUBARU OUTBACK AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE REAR SUBFRAME RUSTING. THE RUST PROBLEM ON MY MAXIMA CONCERNS A COMPONENT AT LEAST AS IMPORTANT AS THE SUBFRAME ON THE SUBARU. THE VEHICLE HAS A METAL RADIATOR SUPPORT AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT RUNS THE WIDTH OF THE CAR. THIS RADIATOR SUPPORT NOT ONLY HOLDS THE RADIATOR UP, BUT IS ALSO CONNECTED TO AN ENGINE SUPPORT IN THE CENTRE. THIS RADIATOR SUPPORT IS RUSTING THROUGH RIGHT IN THE CENTRE WHERE THE ENGINE SUPPORT BOLTS TO THE RAD SUPPORT. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD ON THE 2000-2003 AND THE 1995 - 1999 MAXIMA. A GOOGLE SEARCH WILL REVEAL THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. IMAGINE THE CONSEQUENCES IF THE RAD SUPPORT SHOULD FAIL AND THUS, THE ENGINE BECOME UNSUPPORTED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION? WHETHER THIS IS POOR METAL QUALITY, OR A LACK OF PROPER RUSTPROOFING PAINT (AS IT WAS WITH THE OUTBACK) I DON'T KNOW. THERE ARE VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH MINOR RUST IN OTHER MAJOR COMPONENTS, BUT A COMPLETELY ROTTED RADIATOR SUPPORT. I BELIEVE SOME INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA IS WARRANTED. RADIATOR SUPPORT ON MY 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA IS ROTTED ON THE BOTTOM CENTER. I FOUND OUT COUPLE WEEKS AGO, WONDERING WHAT WAS THE NOISE THAT WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT END. WHILE DRIVING ON THE THROUGH WAY, AT 55MPH I COULD SEE MY HOOD SHAKING IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING FLY OUT WHICH IS KINDA SCARY, BASICALLY THE HOOD LATCH THAT IS ON THE RADIATOR SUPPORT IS LOOSE, BECAUSE THE ROD THAT HOLDS THE HOOD LATCH IS ROTTED AND BROKE FROM THE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT, IT LOOKS LIKE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT CAN BRAKE ANYTIME IN HALF FROM THE CENTER, WHICH WOULD DROP THE MOTOR DOWN WHILE IM ON THE ROAD. AND THIS I HAVE SEEN ON MANY MAXIMA OF THIS GENERATION AND MANY MAXIMA OWNERS OF THIS GENERATION OF MAXIMA 2000-2003 TALK ABOUT IT. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING THIS CAR AND HEARD THE ENGINE MAKING UNUSUAL NOISE AND A CLUNKING NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND FOUND OUT THE FRONT SUB FRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNT ISN'T ATTACHED TO ANYTHING. THE MOTOR ISN'T SUPPORTED UP FRONT. THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING AND THEN DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAD TO EXIT OFF THE ROAD FAST AS THE CAR COASTED DOWN TO PREVENT OTHER CARS FROM HITTING THE CAR. IN DANGER OF OTHER CARS RUNNING OVER CAR WHILE OUR CAR MALFUNCTION. TOOK CAR TO SHOP AND WAS TOLD A 2 DOLLAR O-RING ON THE AUTO CONTROL VALVE HAD ALLOWED AIR LEAKAGE AND THIS IN TURNED CAUSED FAILURE OF THE ECM ELECTRON CONTROL MODULE. BOTH AUTO CONTROL VALVE AND ECM NEEDS REPLACING WHERE THE CAR CAN BE SAFELY DRIVEN. THE FACT OF THIS FAILURE DID NOT BRING IN THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT TILL AFTER THE EVENT AND FACT IT WILL COST OVER $2000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR A CAR THAT IS NOT WORK MUCH MORE $3000 ARE JUST FACTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO AT LEAST SEND OUT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT OWNS OF THIS MODEL AND MAKE COULD HAVE THIS CONDITION THAN CAN HAPPEN AND EXIST AND CAUSE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR OF THE CAR IF NOT CHECK BY NISSAN. DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE STUCTURAL SUPPORT FOR THE RADIATOR WAS ROTTED. THE STRUCTURAL SUPPORT ALSO SUPPORTS THE ENGINE. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE ENGINE MOUNT IS COMPROMISED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT, AS I OBSERVED AT LEAST 5 OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS POSTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION.

I CHECKED MY OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AFTER BUYING THE CAR AND RIGHT WHEN I SHUT THE HOOD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND STAYED ON OBVIOUSLY VERY TEMPERAMENTAL. ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE ENGINE FELT A LITTLE WEIRD THEN WHEN I STARTED DRIVING RIGHT AWAY THE CAR LOST POWER SHUT DOWN AND ALL THE LIGHT POPPED ON I HAD MY 2 YEAR OLD AND 3 YEAR OLD AND FIANCE IN THE CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I ALMOST GOT HIT TRYING TO STEER IT OUT OF TRAFFIC INTO A MCDONALD'S. CALLED THE DEALER AND HE JUST LEFT US SITTING THERE IN THE HEAT. CALLED THE TOW TRUCK AND I WAS TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR BUT IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT STAY ON. SO I WAIT AND WAIT AND DECIDE TO TRY STARTING IT LIKE 20 MINUTES LATER AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP AS THE TOW TRUCK IS PULLING UP BUT HE CHARGED ME ANYWAY EVEN THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FROM THERE TO THE DEALERS ON MY OWN THE DEALERS MECHANIC KEPT TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THIS THING AND KEPT SAYING OH ITS FIXED NOW ABOUT 4 DIFFERENT TIMES...FIRST HE SAID IT WAS THE COIL PACK,THEN HE SAID IT WAS THE MAF MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR,THEN THEY SAID BAD GAS WAS PUT IN IT BY THEM AND THEY CLEANED THE GAS RAIL,THEN FINALLY THEY LISTENED TO ME AND REPLACED THE ISC (IDLE SPEED CONTROL) MOTOR NOW IT STARTED WORKING AND NOT DYING ON ME WHEN I SLOW DOWN OR STOP AT RED LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME LIKE THREE TIMES SAYING IT WAS FIXED AND IT WASN'T BUT NOW WHEN I'M IN THE PARK POSITION WITH THE CAR RUNNING WITHIN ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS THE RPM DROPS AND THE CAR LIGHTS UP AND DIES BUT AT LEAST IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AND DRIVES NOT LIKE BEFORE BUT THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM. LOOK ON IDENTIFIX WEBSITE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT 4 COMPONENTS NEED TO BE RECALLED. THE MAF,IGNITION COILS,ISC,AND MOST EXPENSIVE OF ALL THE ECM WHICH IT SAYS IS USALLY DAMAGED ONCE THE ISC IS DONE FOR.
HI, I HAVE A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA. I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS. MY CAR STALLS, SHAKES, HESITATES AND LOOSES POWER, IT ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE TRAC OFF LIGHT AND THE SLIP LIGHT COME ON ALL WHICH ARE SAID TO BE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE IGNITION COILS. MY NISSAN WAS PARKED ON THE STREET ABOUT 11:00 PM. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, JUST BEFORE 7:00 AM, I HAD KNOCKING AT MY DOOR AND IT WAS THE FIREMAN WANTING THE KEYS TO MY CAR SO THEY COULD ACCESS THE LATCH TO OPEN THE HOOD. SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE SIDES OF THE HOOD AND THE FIREMEN WERE ALREADY SPRAYING MY HOOD AS THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. SINCE THE LATCH DID NOT WORK, AN ELECTRIC SAW WAS USED TO OPEN IT. THE ENGINE WAS DOUSED WITH THE FIRE HOSE TILL THE SMOKE STOPPED. YOU COULD SEE THAT THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS BLACK. THE FIRE WAS SO STRONG THAT THE FRONT WAS SITTING ON TOP OF THE FRONT TIRE. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED AS AN ACCIDENT WITH CAUSE UNKNOWN AND MUST HAVE BEEN BURNING ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 90 MINUTES. ODD THAT A FIRE WOULD START SINCE THE CAR WAS SITTING OVERNIGHT FOR 6 TO 7 HOURS, COLD. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE IN THE CAR. IT WAS LUCKY THAT IT WAS A RAINY DAY AND CAUGHT EARLY BY A NEIGHBOR BEFORE IT AFFECTED ANY OTHER CARS, PEOPLE, AND RESIDENTIAL AREA BY BLOWING UP. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE NISSAN'S EXPLANATION TO THIS INCIDENT.

THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSIS ON THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION WAS DEFECTIVE. MOST RECENTLY, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
