I BOUGHT A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA 3.5 SE ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. WELL WHEN I BOUGHT IT I NOTICED THE NEXT DAY IT WAS JERKING TREMENDOUSLY SO I CALLED THE DEALER BACK AND TOLD HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON. WELL HE SAID TAKE IT TO HIS MECHANIC AND THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED. SO I DID AS HE SAID AND TOOK IT TO HIS MECHANIC. WELL HIS MECHANIC SAID IT WAS IT WAS THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT AND IT HAD BROKE BECAUSE OF THE SHIFTING SO HARD AND HE FIXED IT. WELL I THOUGHT THAT HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM..WELL 2 DAYS LATER IT WAS STILL DOING THE SAME OL' THING SHIFTING REAL REAL HARD BETWEEN 1-2ND GEAR AND THEN WHEN YOUR DOWNSHIFTING IT JERKS BETWEEN 1-2ND GEAR. WELL I CALLED THE MECHANIC BACK AND HE WASN'T AVAILABLE AND THE GUY SAID HE WOULD HAVE HIM CALL BACK. WELL, HE NEVER CALLED BACK. AND THEN AFTER THAT IT REALLY NEVER SHIFTED HARD. WELL GUESS WHAT..ITS BACK AND ITS DOING IT WORSE THAN EVER! SO I DID A LITTLE RESEARCHING AND COME TO FIND OUT THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO SO MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN A 2004 UP TO A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. AND IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. SOMETIMES MY CAR TAKES FOREVER TO SHIFT AND I AM SO SCARED TO PULL OUT ON THE FREEWAY AND IT NOT GO AND THEN ILL GET HIT AND DIE. SO I KNOW IT IS IN-FACT A DEFECTED TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I OWNED A 2001 NISSAN MAXIMA GLE BEFORE I GOT THIS ONE AND IT NEVER EVER HAD PROBLEMS AT ALL. AND I AM SO SURPRISED NISSAN HASN'T RECALLED THIS BECAUSE OF THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING WITH THERE 05 MAXIMAS SHIFTING HARD WHEN GOING TO 1-2ND GEAR. AND THEN DOWNSHIFTING. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SOMEONE WILL GET HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE PRINTED OFF HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND I REALLY NEED HELP ALONG WITH THE OTHER THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME CAR AND SAME PROBLEMS. ALL I WANT IS MY CAR FIXED. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO US ESPECIALLY AFTER WE PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THEN HAVE TO TURN AROUND TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION. PLEASE HELP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION MOTOR MOUNT. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SL AND FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS THERE HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ONCE THE CAR IS WARM THERE IS A REAL HARD JERK BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR, AS WELL AS FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ID A PROBLEM, OTHER THAN THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BROKEN AND THEY REPLACED THAT FOR $500. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I COMMUTE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC 45 MILES EVERY DAY, AND AS I BRAKE OR ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC THE CAR JERKS WHICH IS VERY DISCONCERTING WHEN TRAFFIC IS BAD AND YOU CAN NOT ANTICIPATE EVERYTHING OTHER CARS ARE DOING. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY RISK FOR MAXIMA DRIVERS AND ALL THOSE AROUND THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE AND UNUSUALLY LOUD KNOCKING WHEN THE GEAR WAS PLACED IN PARK OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AT THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
THE TRANSMISSION START SHIFTING FUNNY 2 YEARS AGO. IN BETWEEN 15-20 MILES (1 GEAR) THERE WAS A DELAY AND A CLICK DURING SHIFTING. AT THAT TIME I HAD A WARRANTY ON MY CAR , BUT THE DEALERSHIP'S MECHANICS DIDN'T IDENTIFY A PROBLEM, RIGHT NOW IT BECOME MORE VISIBLE AND THE OTHER DEALER FOUND THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT NEEDED BUT THE CAT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND REPLACEMENT WILL BE MORE THAN $ 4,000. I ASKED NISSAN CORP. TO COVER THIS REPLACEMENT AS A GOODWILL REPAIR, BUT WAS DENIED DUE TO OUT WARRANTY STATUS (WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME, AS IF I WOULDN'T BE OUT OF WARRANTY WHY SHOULD I REQUEST REPAIR FROM NISSAN CORP. AS I WOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT IN ANY DEALERSHIP). PLUS I HAVE ABS UNIT TO BE REPLACE, BUT THE PROBLEM IS ONLY IN THE SOLENOID NOT IN UNIT, BUT THE DEALERS DO NOT REPLACE THE SOLENOID BUT NEED TO REPLACE THE UNIT FOR $1,900. *TR
2005 MAXIMA IS SLAMMING IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. I HAVE ALMOST HAD A FEW ACCIDENTS BECAUSE MY CAR TAKES TOO LONG TO FINALLY SHIFT INTO GEAR. THIS CAUSES MANY NEAR MISSES WHEN DRIVING IN A METROPOLITAN AREA. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN DOESN'T MAN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM THEY SOLD TO THE PUBLIC??? I BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH THE INTENTIONS OF DRIVING IT FOR 300,000 MILES BECAUSE IT IS A NISSAN AND I WAS UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY WERE ONE OF THE BEST. BOY WAS I WRONG AND 30,000 DOLLARS LATER I AM STUCK WITH A CAR THAT ISN'T WORTH 10 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS ABNORMALLY SLIPPING OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SPUTTER WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY JERK AND WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO SHIFT WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE CHARGES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT FROM SECOND TO FIRST GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RESISTANT TO SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED AND 10,000 MILES LATER, THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING, AS THE FAILURE RECURRED. I HAVE A 2005 MAXIMA, AND I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AS EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING. I BOUGHT A NISSAN A MONTH AGO BECAUSE EVERYONE SAYS THEY ARE GREAT CARS. I LOVED IT AT FIRST, BUT NOW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING I WILL NEVER BUY ONE AGAIN. I HAVE A 05 NISSAN MAXIMA, WITH 65000 MILES. IT JUST STARTED GIVING ME REAL BAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW. IT'S BEEN JERKING AND SHIFTING HARD IN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO RECEIVE A TRANSMISSION FLUSH THINKING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE SOLUTION, UNFORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T. 2 DAYS LATER, IT STARTED GIVING ME THE SAME PROBLEM. SO I DECIDED TO TAKE THE MAXIMA TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THINKING THEY WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE COST WOULD BE $ 4,000.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I PAMPER MY CAR AND UP TO THIS POINT HAVE LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT MY MAXIMA. WHAT COURSE OF ACTION DID YOU TAKE IN GETTING YOUR CAR FIXED? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. AS A RESULT, THE MOTOR MOUNTS ALSO FAILED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT, THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED FROM AMBER THEN RED AND MY TRANSMISSION DROPPED VERY HARD FROM 3 TO 2 AS IF I SLAMMED THE BREAKS AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME. IT WOULD APPEAR TO THE CAR BEHIND ME THAT I SLAMMED THE BRAKES MANY FEET TOO EARLY AND WAS UNPREDICTABLE. THE ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED BY THE DRIVER FROM BEHIND AND RESULTED BY ANGRY GESTURES AND HONKING. LUCKILY NO ONE GOT HURT. THIS ISSUE OCCURS FROM TIME TO TIME WITH THIS TRANSMISSION THAT I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE. THE CAR IN VERY GOOD SHAPE, AND RELIABLE. ALL THE SERVICES HAS BEEN DONE BY THE DEALER, BUT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED SINCE ITS PAST THE 5 YEAR MARK. NISSAN MAXIMA 2005. *TR

MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS A MAJOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAT IS VERY WIDE SPREAD FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND. WHILE DRIVING VIOLENT BANGS OCCUR BETWEEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD. THIS DEFECT IS SO SEVERE IT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A DRIVER NOT EXPECTING IT TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE! THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND I'M REALLY AGGRAVATED NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY NISSAN OR ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DOES A HARD JERK WHEN I AM ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. WHETHER DRIVING TO 40MPH OR DRIVING THROUGH A LIGHT, MY 2005 MAXIMA, DOES A HARD JERK LIKE ITS SHIFTING GEARS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE CAR BUT I WAS EVEN MORE UPSET ABOUT THE JERKING MY SON IS RECEIVING IN THE BACK SEAT, WAKING HIM UP WHEN HE IS SLEEP. I HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR LOOKED AT BY MANY MECHANICS AND DEALERSHIPS, THEY ARE SAYING THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING BAD. I BELIEVE THE CAR IS TOO NEW FOR MAJOR WORK TO BE HAPPENING LIKE THIS. $2,000- $4,000 OF WORK ON A CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE NEW AND IS STILL ONLY 5 YEARS OLD IS CRAZY. I LOOKED ONLINE AND AM SEEING MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. HARD JERKING, SLOW TO ACCELERATE IN SLOW AREAS, PROBLEM HAPPENING ONE DAY AND MAY NOT BE A PROBLEM THE NEXT. AS WITH MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, MY 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA IS HAVING SIGNIFICANT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AND SOMETIMES BETWEEN 2ND AND THIRD. I WAS WARNED ABOUT THE FACT THAT NISSAN'S HAVE GREAT ENGINES BUT THAT THEY MAKE THEIR AT ON THE CHEAP. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED BASED ON THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ON THE 2005 MAXIMA. I HAVE MAINTAINED THE CARE VERY WELL, AND WOULD HAVE EXPECTED BETTER PERFORMANCE FROM NISSAN. I HAVE DRIVING A HONDA TO OVER 170K MILES, AND A MITSUBISHI TO OVER $180K WITH NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. THIS WILL BE THE LAST NISSAN I BUY. I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER HONDA AS SOON AS I CAN GET MY PIECE OF CRAP NISSAN SOLD. BASED ON HOW MANY OF THESE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SEEN ON MANY OTHER AUTOMOTIVE SITES ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE 05' MAXIMA TRANSMISSION. SO SAD, BECAUSE NISSAN SEEMS TO BE FALLING BEHIND EVEN SOME OF THE AMERICAN AUTOMAKERS AS FAR AS QUALITY GOES. NO MORE NISSANS FOR ME. *TR
DRIVERS DOOR LOCK DOES NOT LOCK/UN-LOCK WITH REMOTE ALL THE TIME. MUST USE KEY TO UNLOCK. ONLY NOTICE PROBLEM WITH DRIVERS DOOR LOCK AT THIS TIME. THIS FAILURE HAPPENS 75% OF THE TIME I UNLOCK MY VEHICLE. IT APPEARS TO ALWAYS LOCK, BUT I DO NOT DOUBLE CHECK THE LOCKING SIDE. *TR
IT ALL STARTED ON OUR WAY TO THE SUPERMARKET. WE WARM UP THE CAR IN THE MORNING WHEN WE WERE READY TO LEAVE AND PUT IN REVERSE IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO GO INTO GEAR BUT WHEN IT DID THE CAR SHIFTED REALLY HARD. WHEN WE PUT IT INTO DRIVE IT DID THE SAME THING. ON OUR WAY TO THE STORE THE CAR TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO SHIFT INTO EVERY GEAR AND WOULD SHIFT REALLY HARD WHEN IT DID SO. FROM THAT POINT WE TOOK THE CAR FOR ITS CHECK UP WITH THE MECHANIC WERE HE DID AN OIL CHANGE, TUNE UP AND SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION UPON TELLING HIM WHAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DOING HE SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MESSING UP AND THAT NISSAN HAD A BAD REPUTATION WITH TRANSMISSIONS GOING BAD PREMATURELY AND THAT HE HAD REPAIRED MANY NISSAN OF THE SAME YEAR IF NOT NEWER BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. HE ADVISE US THAT AFTER SERVICING THE TRANSMISSION THE PROBLEM MAY OR MAY NOT GO AWAY (OUR TRANSMISSION WAS SERVICED EVERY 15,000-20,000 PRIOR TO PROBLEM). WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY GAVE OUT AT 142,864 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BY A REPUTABLE SHOP ON 7/09/2010 USING NISSAN FACTORY PARTS WAS GIVEN A WARRANTY OF ONE YEAR. EVERYTHING WORKED FINE UNTIL DEC. 24, 2012 WHEN WE WENT TO PICK UP MY BROTHER FROM THE AIRPORT AND THE SAME THING STARTED TO HAPPEN AS WE STATED ABOVE. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR BUT VERY MINIMAL AND NOT VERY FAR OR NOT AT ALL UNTIL FEBRUARY 19, 2013 AT 219,862 MILES AND 76,998 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME AND SINCE WE ONLY HAVE ONE CAR WE WERE FORCED TO GET A LOAN AND REPAIR IT AGAIN. AND $6000.00 LATER WE ARE SCARED FOR A THIRD INCIDENT. I HOPE THIS MATTER GETS RESOLVED AND NISSAN AGREES TO COMPENSATE THE COST. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 MAXIMA AND I AM HAVING VERY BAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES. WHEN I TAKE OFF IT JERKS REAL BAD BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND THEN WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN ABOUT TO COME TO A STOP IT ALSO KICKS AND JERKS REAL BAD WHEN IT GEARS DOWN TO 1ST AND 2ND. AND SOMETIMES IT JUST WONT GO AT ALL..AND THEN WHEN I SIT THERE A MIN AND PUT MY CAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE IT HESITATES FOR AT LEAST 7 TO 10 SECS. AND THEN JUMPS REAL BAD AND THEN GOES INTO DRIVE.IT USUALLY DOES ALL THIS WHEN THE CAR IS HOT. *TR
TRANSMISSION WILL JERK OUT OF GEAR FROM SHIFTING FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO SHIFT HARD AND THE GEARS WOULD SLIP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WARMED UP (10-15 MILES AFTER BEING DRIVEN). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
