The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle in the morning, the vehicle would start after several attempts. The contact stated that he opened the hood and checked the battery and became aware that both battery terminals were corroded. The contact cleaned the terminals and still had issues with starting the vehicle. Additionally, the steering wheel had locked. The contact was unable to unlock the steering wheel. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that inserting the key in the ignition switch would not start the vehicle, and the key fob ignition option had also failed to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel remained locked. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the residence and was no longer drivable. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V402000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Front driver and passenger side rust and corrosion under the car
I'm not sure what happened but all I know is my turns over but will not start. It has new battery, new alternator, both camshaft position sensors replaced. It has been at the mechanic shop for 2 weeks and they can't figure out the program. I have heard that the security system may have locked up on it preventing it from cranking but I am not sure but all I know is I don't have the money to get it towed or fixed now cuz I have already had to pay to get it towed and the shop. Please help me
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA FROM B.M.W AUTO DALLAS LLC. THE VEHICLE WAS ADVERTISED AS HAVING 137,000 MILES. DESPITE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE CAR, THE DECIDING FACTOR FOR THE PURCHASE WAS THE LOW MILES. AFTER PURCHASE, OUR MECHANIC DISCOVERED WHAT HE DESCRIBED AS "SHADY BUSINESS" UNDER THE HOOD AND RECOMMENDED WE CHECK THE VIN THROUGH CARFAX, AUTOCHECK, ETC. WE PURCHASED AN AUTOCHECK VEHICLE REPORT AND DISCOVERED THE ODOMETER WAS ROLLED BACK. FROM 166K IN 2016 TO 112K IN 1018. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE INFORMATION THAT WOULD HAVE IMPACTED PRICE, AT A MINIMUM AND OUR OVERALL BUYING DECISION. THE MILEAGE FRAUD ALSO IMPACTS THE FUTURE SELLING PRICE OF THE VEHICLE.
I STARTED MY CAR UP ON 12/11/2019 AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN FLASHING SINCE WITH NO ACCIDENT. I'M AFRAID MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR WOULD LOOSE POWER AND NOT ACCELERATE. DRIVING ONTO ON RAMP TO HIGHWAY AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STARTED TO LOOSE SPEED WHILE MERGING. NO LIGHTS CAME ON DASH OR ANYTHING. SEEMS LIKE THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE OR SOMETHING.
IT STARTED WITH THE CAR NOT GOING OVER 40 MPH THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AND THEN IT WOULD BE OK. I DIDN'T GET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY WARNING SIGNS, SO I DROVE IT LIKE THAT FOR 5 MONTHS UNTIL THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND IT WON'T GO OVER 20 MPH. STILL NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE TIMING CHAIN WAS OUT ALONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIR COST WAS OVER $8000. A 12 YEAR-OLD CAR WITH 114,000 MILES IS HEADED TO THE JUNK YARD. I WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNER OF THE CAR AND TOOK REALLY GOOD CARE OF IT BUT SAD TO SEE IT GO SO SOON.
TAKATA RECALL AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON , IM AFRAID THE AIRBAG IS GOING TO EXPLODE WHILE IM DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
THE INTELLIGENT KEY IS NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE VEHICLE. ACTS AS IF THE KEY IS NOT WITHIN THE READING RANGE. THIS CAUSES THE DOORS TO STAY LOCKED/UNLOCKED WHEN USING THE FOB. ALSO, THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN EVEN THOUGH THE FOB IS IN THE CAR. THE ACTUAL KEY HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE FOB IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE.
THE PROBLEM ON THE TRANSMISSION THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE BEYOND 40MPH THROW THE RPM CAN'T GO HIGH ALL THE WAY
I HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION JAN 2018 WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN. NOT EVEN A BREAK ON REPLACEMENT PRICING. 2007 MAXIMA WITH 78000 NOT DRIVEN HARD OR ON THE HIGHWAY FOR VERY LONG UNTIL 2 YEARS AGO. NOW THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS WHINING AND FLUCTUATION IN RPM'S. LAST MONTH I WAS PULLING INTO A SHOPPING CENTER ACROSS 3 LANES AND MY CAR ACCELERATED TO 2-3 MILES AND HOUR AND NO FASTER. I WAS THANKFUL I LEFT A LOT OF ROOM OTHERWISE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A NASTY ACCIDENT. I ONLY HAVE 7000 MILE ON THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL, THE LADY I SPOKE WITH SEEMS QUITE INDIFFERENT IN OUR CONVERSATION. I'M SURE SHE GETS A LOT OF ANGRY CALLS. I SPOKE WITH A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP THAT TOLD ME THESE TRANSMISSIONS FAIL ALL OF THE TIME EVEN THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. PRICE GOUGING AND SELLING BAD PARTS JUST TO INCREASE THEIR PROFIT MARGINS KNOWING NO INTERVENTION WILL HAPPEN.

A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
2007 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS ISSUE WITH ABS ENGAGING CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO GO INTO A LIMP/SAFE MODE WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL IS FLOORED. ON LEFT TURN ALMOST T-BONE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT WHICH IS WELL DOCUMENTED SINCE 2004. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON ROADWAY 45 MPH. RECALL NEEDED PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET KILLED IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING MAINTENANCE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FLOOR PANEL WAS ROTTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE FLOOR BOARDS ON M/V ARE ROTTING. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE AND NEVER TOLD THE BUYING PUBLIC. PLEASE FORCE A RECALL TO FIX ISSUE. MY NISSAN ONLY HAS 54K FOR MILEAGE AND HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. DISCOVERED THE ISSUE AS A RESULT OF HAVING STRUTS AND BREAK WORK DONE TO THE CAR.
TIMING CHAIN AND AND ALL THE PLASTIC GUIDES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. NEVER KNEW UNTIL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALER TO GET CHECKED, COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TIMING CHAINS HAVE BOTH FAILED.
RUSTING FLOORBOARDS BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED IN AUGUST 2016. THE CAR WAS JERKY AND THEN WOULDN'T GO INTO ANY GEAR ONCE I PULLED IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NISSAN KNEW THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT'S - AND HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 5 YEARS AND 50,000 MILES TO 10 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES. THE CVT IN MY CAR WENT AT 9 YEARS (UNDER THE 10 YEARS) BUT OVER THE 100,000 MILES. SINCE NISSAN KNEW THERE WERE PROBLEMS, THEY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE TRANSMISSIONS INSTEAD OF EXTENDING THE WARRANTY. IT COST ME OVER $3,000 - WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED WITH A RECALL. NISSAN ALSO STATES THAT THEY WILL LOWER THE COST OF THE REFURBISHED CVT AND THE REPAIRS IF OUT OF WARRANTY - YET THE PRICE WAS $3,119.60.
THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE OVERHAULED DUE TO FAULTY GUIDES. THE ENGINE MAKES A WHINING NOISE AND AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER INDICATED IT WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN.
THE HORN ON THIS VECHICLE DOES NOT BLOW. NISSAN SERVICEMAN TOLD ME THIS WAS COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE, AND IF I DIDN'T REPAIR IT , THERE MIGHT BE AIRBAG ISSUES. I CALL NISSAN AND FILED A CLAIM # 22887303 ON 7-5-2016. WAS TOLD NOT TO MOVE VEHICLE FROM NISSAN REPAIR DEALER. ON 7-6-2016 WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THEY COULD NOT HELP WITH THIS HAZARD PROBLEM.
THE CVT TRANS HAS NEVER WORDED LIKE IT SHOULD I REPORTED IT YEARS AGO I HAVE BABIED THIS CAR FOR YEARS THEY SAID TRANS WAS REPLACED BUT YEARS LATER IT WAS NOT JUST SOME PARTS REPLACED . DONT WANT MONEY JUST WANT HELP WITH CVT TRANS
DURING A MAINTENCE CHECK THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN IS MAKING EXCESSIVE NOISE. THEY RECOMMEND I REPLACE THE SECONDARY TIMING KIT FOR $1,500 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THEY ALSO STATED DRIVERS FLOOR PAN RUST AND PASSAGNER SIDE SHOW SIGN OF GOING SOON THEY STATED NISSAN HAD FIX FOR THIS THAT WOULD COST $925 AND THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ALOT TO THIS CARS
ON APRIL 3, 2016 I STARTED MY 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA WHICH THE ENGINE SHOOK THEN STALLED AFTER RUNNING FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS. HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WHICH INFORMED ME THAT THE TIMING JUMP AND BENT VALVES NOW NEEDING A NEW ENGINE. AFTER RESEARCHING FOUND THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR THEIR TIMING CHAIN GUIDE WHICH CAUSES THE TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP AND DAMAGE THE ENGINE. READING HOW DANGEROUS WHEN ANY OF THESE OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLES ARE IN MOTION, OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLES ARE EXPOSED TO REAR END COLLISIONS AND OTHER ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THE DRIVER'S INABILITY TO MAINTAIN AN APPROPRIATE SPEED ON THE ROAD. THE FACT THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS ARE PRONE TO PREMATURE FAILURE IS ALSO MATERIAL TO CONSUMERS BECAUSE THERE IS NO SAFE ALTERNATIVE WAY FOR OWNERS OF THE SUBJECT NISSAN VEHICLES TO AVOID THE RISK OF POTENTIAL HARM. AS A RESULT OF ITS FAILURE TO DISCLOSE THE MATERIAL FACT THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN THE SUBJECT NISSAN VEHICLES ARE PRONE TO PREMATURE FAILURE, NISSAN HAS RECKLESSLY PLACED THE SAFETY OF OWNERS AND OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLES AT RISK. TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY MY NEW TIMING CHAIN FAILED CAUSING "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE" ON A CAR FOR WHICH I AM DILIGENT ABOUT MAINTENANCE. AGAIN, ALMOST KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY! HAD TO BUY A BRAND NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $8100!" - 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER OWNER / LEWISTON, MAINE. AS YOU SEE BY THIS ARTICLE HOW DANGEROUS THIS ISSUE WITH NISSAN IS AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. NOW MY ENGINE WILL NOT START AND NISSAN REFUSES TO INSTALL AND NEW ENGINE WHEN THEY NOW IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THIS IS MY SECOND ENGINE IN MY 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA, THE FIRST ONE BLEW WHEN MY DAUGHTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE PISTON EXPLODED OUT OF THE BLOCK AND ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE BECAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED.
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN IS MAKING EXCESSIVE NOISE. THEY RECOMMEND I REPLACE THE SECONDARY TIMING KIT FOR $1,939.52 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE MECHANIC, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLOOR PAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. THE FAILURE HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AT RANDOM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE AND SPIRAL CABLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,375.
I AM NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM REALLY EXIST. THE RESULTING DIAGNOSIS IS BASED ON A FAINT WHINE DETECTED BY THE TECHNICIAN (WHILE STATIONARY) AND A DEFINITE DETERMINATION CAN ONLY BE MADE BY A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION OF THE TIMING GUIDE. TO DO THIS WOULD REQUIRE REMOVING PARTS. BUT WHEN THOSE PARTS ARE REMOVED THE GUIDE AND CHAIN WILL NEED REPLACING EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT DEFECTIVE. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM DATING BACK TO THE 2004 MODEL AND NO DEFINITIVE DIAGNOSTIC METHOD IS AVAILABLE THAT WILL NOT COST THE OWNER A REPAIR THAT IS SOME TIMES UNNECESSARY.
THE FLOOR PANS ARE STARTING TO ROT OUT ON MY NISSAN MAXIMA. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS REPORTING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR NISSAN MAXIMAS. A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED TO REPLACE THE FLOOR PANS IN THESE CARS. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHY A 7 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD BE ROTTING TO THIS EXTENT.
MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A SQUEAKY NOISE IN THE ENGINE, THEY TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY HOOD AND ROOF ALSO HAVE THE CLEAR COAT PEELING UP AND FADING. SINCE TIMING CHAIN IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I PAID 2,000 FOR THEM TO FIX THIS. I CONTACTED THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND SINCE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY CANNOT HELP ME.
ON 10/05/2015 THE CAR STARTED TO SHIFT FUNNY AND FELT LIKE LOSS OF FUEL ON STARTS AND TURNING CORNERS.
I THOUGHT A LEAF WAS HANGING FROM BELOW MY CAR WHEN PARKED. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE FLOORBOARD IS COMPLETELY CORRODED THROUGH TO THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SINCE PURCHASED IN LATE 2006. THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $2,000 TO $3,000 TO GET REPAIRED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 9 YEARS AND MUCH OF THIS TIME IT PARKED IN THE GARAGE DURING THE WINTER. I WAS SURE DAMAGE WAS NOT A EXPECTED DETERIORATION BASED ON NORMAL USE. THIS WAS CONFIRMED LATER BY RESEARCHING ON LINE AND SEEING OTHER COMPLAINTS.

THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO ALL OF MY WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON. UPON PUTTING IT ON THE LIFT, THEY SHOWED ME WHERE THE UNDERSIDE WAS SIGNIFICANT RUST THAT CAUSED THE TIRE & BRAKE SENSORS TO FALL OFF THE STRUTS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FLOOR PANS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT WITH HOLES, WHICH CAN CAUSE MY FEET TO CRASH THROUGH THE FLOORBOARDS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE MANY PROBLEMS REPORTED ONLINE REGARDING RUSTED FLOOR PANS AND BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE NISSAN TO PROVIDE A RECALL TO GET THESE ITEMS FIXED. I UNDERSTAND RUST IS NOT A STANDARD REASON FOR NHTSA TO BE INVOLVED, BUT WILL IT TAKE MY DEATH TO HAVE YOU REGULATE & RESOLVE THIS ISSUE?
TOOK MY 2007 MAXIMA IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND MY MECHANIC GAVE ME THE BAD NEWS, SINCE HE LAST SAW IT 6 MONTHS AGO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR PANS ARE RUSTED OUT .PLACED A CLAIM WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS IN TENNESSEE, THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO BE LOOKED AT AND THEN THEY DETERMINED THAT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME, BUT INDICATED THAT THE DEALER MIGHT FIX FOR A LOT LESS THAN QUOTE I GOT FROM MY REPAIR SHOP. SINCE THEN THE DEALER HAS INDICATED THAT THEY NEED TO TALK TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I HAVE CALLED BOTH PARTIES SEVERAL TIMES AND AN DEFINITELY GETTING THE RUN AROUND. BOTH NISSAN AND THE DEALER ARE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEMS AS THEY HAVE BEEN MANY INCIDENTS OF RUST . I HAVE OWNED NOTHING BU NISSAN'S FOR 20 YEARS, ONE I HAD FOR OVER 12 YEARS WITH NO RUST PROBLEMS ( IT WAS A 1995) I TRADED IT IN FOR THIS CAR . I GARAGE MY CAR AND HAVE IT WASHED REGULARLY. IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN THAT I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER OWN ANOTHER ONE.
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS SHUT WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. TERRIBLE SHAKING WHEN GOING 60MPH AND ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, WHICH THEN CAUSE A HARD JERK OR PULL TO THE RIGHT. WHEELS WERE ALL FOUR BENT AT THE TIME I PURCHASED THE CAR, BUT DEALER NEVER FIXED ONE THING I LISTED AND HE AGREED TO FIX OR ATTEMPTED TO FIX BEFORE THE SALE. CAR WAS REPOSSESSED MONTHS LATER AND RESOLD AT PRIVATE AUCTION. THE NEW OWNERS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE AIRBAGS THAT ARE MISSING. THIS CAR OBVIOUSLY WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND DOES NOT SHOW UP ON ANY VEHICLE HISTORY REPORT BUT I AM UNABLE TO PROVE IT. THE VALUE OF THE CAR AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE WAS $4,000. THE NORMAL WAS $6,500 AT THAT TIME. IF I HAD KEPT THE POS, I'D PAY OVER $21,000 WITH INTEREST AND OTHER FEES INCLUDED. THIS IS FRAUD. I STRONGLY FEEL LIKE WE'RE DEALING WITH FRAUD IN THIS SITUATION, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT PROVE IT BY MYSELF AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME PROVE IT.
THE SECOND TIME MY CAR STALLED I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME IN MY 2007 MAXIMA WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN FROM MAJOR ROAD ONTO MY STREET. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE ON A MAJOR ROAD AT RUSH HOUR ACCELLERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. I TOOK CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND BASED ON ME TELLING THEM I WAS HEARING A WHINING NOISE AND NOT THE STALLING ISSUE THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS FAULTY CAM SHAFT SENSORS AND THE TIMING BELT. SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME IT HAD TO BE REPAIRED OR MY LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER DEPENDING ON WHERE IT DECIDED TO STALL THE NEXT TIME OR THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND KILLED MY ENGINE. THIS COST ME APPROXIMATELY $2000. MY CAR HAD ~100,000 MILES AND I HAVE HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES PERFORMED AT THE SAME DEALER. REGARDLESS OF THE FAULTY PART I BELIEVE THE CAR BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NISSAN SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF USING THE PROBLEM AS A CASH COW.
NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH 07 MAXIMA WE BOUGHT, LATER REPOSSESSED. THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE CAR WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKES WERE USED. ALSO WHEELS (NOT FACTORY BUT THEY WERE ON THERE WHEN PURCHASED, BUT ASKED TO REPLACE BUT NEVER HAPPENED) WERE NOTICEABLY BENT. AND LASTLY, THE FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER SHUTTING MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAUSING MY ARM TO BE BURNED.
TO NTSB: I PURCHASED AND INSTALLED REPLACEMENT WIPER BLADES FOR THIS VEHICLE, THEY WERE INSTALLED PER THE ENCLOSED INSTRUCTIONS... ONCE THE WIPERS WERE USED DURING A RECENT RAIN EVENT, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT A PROBLEM WITH THE NEW WIPER BLADES WAS OCCURRING. I HAD THE WIPERS INSPECTED BY THE AUTO PARTS STORE SALES PERSON AND HE CONFIRMED MY FINDINGS... THERE WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE WIPER BLADE ASSEMBLY, A 1/2" OFFSET IN THE MOUNTING THAT CAUSE THE WIPER BLADE ON THE DRIVER SIDE TO STRIKE THE WINDSHIELD TRIM WITH FULL FORCE, ACTUALLY BENDING THE METAL TRIM, SO ANOTHER SET OF WIPER BLADES WERE NEEDED, DUE TO THE INTERFERENCE ISSUES. TO TRICO PRODUCTS: I WANT TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS OVER THE TRICO SENTRY REPLACEMENT WIPER BLADES THAT I PURCHASED AT MY LOCAL O'REILLY AUTO PARTS STORE LAST YEAR. THE SPECIFIED PART NUMBER FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY GIRLFRIENDS 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA ( #32-260 ) DID NOT PERFORM AS IT SHOULD... THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT AN ISSUE, HERE IS THE ISSUE: WHEN THE WIPERS WERE RUNNING, THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER WAS HITTING THE WIDOW POST, AND THERE WAS A VERY LOUD BANGING NOISE THAT WAS SO LOUD THAT WAS JUST CRAZY! THIS NOISE WAS ONLY HEARD ONCE THE WIPERS WERE RUNNING... AND OF COURSE WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR DROUGHT, BECAUSE IT HASN'T RAINED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN LIKE FOREVER... THE TRICO SENTRY WIPER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ACTUALLY PUT SCRATCHES AND DENTS ON THE WINDOW TRIM. THIS PROBLEM / ISSUE HAPPENS BECAUSE OF A .500 INCH OFFSET IN THE WIPER BLADE MOUNTING... THIS 1/2" OFFSET, IS WHAT I WOULD CALL A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS CASE. IT'S ALL ABOUT SAFETY ! AND THIS PROBLEM MAY / WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A WIPER FAILURE... TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER AND GUIDE IS DEFECTIVE. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE (SINCE 2004) BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT AND PASS THE COSTLY REPAIRS ONTO THE CONSUMER.
DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FLOOR PANS RUSTED OUT. REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS FINE. UNDERSTAND FROM INTERNET SEARCH THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED IN OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES SINCE AT LEAST THE 2004 MODELS. DEALER INDICATES THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM "ABOUT WHICH THEY HAVE HEARD" BUT THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED BY NISSAN. *TR
TOOK CAR TO THE GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. IT DID NOT PASS DUE TO RUST UNDER DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARDS. THEY TOLD ME THE REST OF THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AND THAT THEY BELIEVED IT MIGHT BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE AMOUNT OF RUST IS FAR BEYOND WHAT AN 8 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD HAVE. CONTACTED NISSAN BUT THEY TOLD ME THE RUST WARRANTY IS ONLY COVERED FOR 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES AND IT IS TOO FAR OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
FLOOR PANS UNDER BOTH THE DRIVERS AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD WAS ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLOORBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. WHILE THERE WAS A RECALL ON MANY 2007-2008 NISSAN MODELS DUE TO AIRBAG ISSUES, THE MAXIMA WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FACT THAT BOTH FAILED AT THE SAME TIME SHOULD POINT TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT/FAILURE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE I FELT AN EXPLOSION AND NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF MY BLOOD PRESSURE, AND I SUFFER FROM HYPER-TENSION. THE MOON ROOF EXPLODED AND I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I LOOKED AROUND TO SEE IF A GUN HAD BEEN POINTED AT ME BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS SIMILAR AND THE IMPACT TO THE CAR FELT AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN HIT BY AN OBJECT. THE COVER OVER THE MOON ROOF WAS CLOSED SO THAT PREVENTED ANY GLASS FROM ENTERING AND CUTTING ME. I PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT TO FIND A GAPPING HOLE, SHATTERED GLASS ON THE ROOF AND MY HEART BEATING RAPIDLY. ONCE I GOT HOME I TAPED THE ROOF AND BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE NEXT DAY THE PRESSURE CAUSED THE ROOF TO REOPEN AND CONTINUE TO BREAK. I CONTACTED NISSAN TO SEE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS UNDER RECALL AND THEY SAID NO. THE COST WAS MY EXPENSE. NOW I DO NOT OPEN THE SHADE AT ALL FOR FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN RESULTING IN INJURY. I LIVE IN A VERY HOT AND HUMID AND RAINY CLIMATE AND WHEN THIS OCCURED THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 70'S, AND THE TIME OF DAY WAS APPROX 6:45PM. I ASKED THE GLASS COMPANY HAD THEY HAD ANY CUSTOMERS IN WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THEY AFFIRMED. THE MOON ROOF GLASS WAS ORDERED AND SHIPPED DIRECTLY TO THE GLASS COMPANY AND MY CAR WAS OUT OF COMMISSION FOR A FEW DAYS. THE MOON ROOF DOES NOT OPEN AT ALL, IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. IF A SAFETY NOTICE HAD BEEN ATTACHED I MORE THAN LIKELY WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE.
TOOK MY 07 MAXIMA WITH 73K MILES TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR A WHINING NOISE I THOUGHT WAS THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS UNDER MFG. WARRANTY. WAS TOLD THE NOISE IS FROM THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDES. A REPAIR OF ALMOST $2000.00. NOW I FIND THAT THERE IS A TSB ON THIS FROM YEARS AGO. I'VE HAD THIS CAR SINCE 2009, NISSAN SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED OWNERS SINCE THIS DEFECT LEFT NOT REPAIRED COULD CAUSE THE MOTOR TO CUT OUT AT ANY TIME. IT ALSO WILL DESTROY THE MOTOR SINCE IT"S NOT A CLEARANCE ENGINE. I HAVE MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE TO THE LETTER. NISSAN IS KNOW FOR THIS ENGINE AND THE REASON I BUY THEM IS THEY USE TIMING CHAINS NOT BELTS.

I WAS AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP GETTING A NEW INTELLI-KEY MADE FOR THE CAR WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK BROKE. I FOUND OUT THIS WOULD BE THE THIRD TIME THIS LOCKING MECHANISM HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THIS CAR ALONE. THE TECHNICIAN TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND THE LOCK BROKE AND LOCKED INTO PLACE. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THE SAME PART HAVE TO BREAK ON A NISSAN BEFORE YOU CONSIDER IT TO BE A BAD PART? THE STEERING LOCK WAS RECALLED BEFORE IT LEFT THE FACTORY, REPLACED 2 TIMES OVER THE NEXT 7 YEARS. THE STEERING LOCK IS NOT A PART THAT FAILS BECAUSE IT IS REPEATEDLY USED OR BECAUSE OF TOO MANY MILES, IT IS CAUSED BY A POOR QUALITY PART! ONCE AGAIN THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS PART HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD 18 CARS OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A STEERING LOCK FAIL. *TR
