GOT IN MY CAR AND FELT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT TILT. THE ARM UNDER THE SEAT BROKE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AS I HAVE BEEN REVIEWING THE INTERNET. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO FATALITIES AS OF YET, IT IS A PROBLEM NISSAN IS AWARE OF YET WILL NOT FIX. IT COSTS $500 AT MY NISSAN DEALER TO FIX THE SEAT BECAUSE IT IS "OUT OF WARRANTY". I KNOW THAT THIS PROBABLY WILL JUST BE PUT IN A FILE BUT IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOME FAMILY OUT THERE WILL BE MISSING A FAMILY MEMBER IN DEATH DUE TO A FIXABLE PROBLEM THAT NISSAN REFUSES TO DEAL WITH. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT IS LOOSE ON THE LEFT SIDE. THIS ALLOWS THE SEAT TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH, UP AND DOWN, AND SIDE TO SIDE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED TO REMAIN SECURE ON THE SEAT BRACKET FRAME AND WOBBLED WHENEVER AN OCCUPANT WAS POSITIONED IN THE SEAT. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OR IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I (FEMALE) LOADED MY TRUNK TO EMPTY MY CLASSROOM FOR THE SUMMER. I FILLED MY TRUNK WITH HEAVY BOXES THAT NEEDED TO BE MOVED. ONCE I GOT TO WHERE I WAS GOING MY TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO LAY THE SEATS DOWN AND PULL EVERYTHING OUT THAT WAY. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I HAD SMALL CHILDREN AT THE GROCERY AND THEY HAD TO STAND BESIDE THE CAR B/C THE TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN FOR ME TO LOAD IT. ALSO MY DRIVER DOOR WILL ONLY LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH A KEY NOT THE REMOTE. I GO TO THE PLACES ALONE OR WITH ONLY SMALL CHILDREN QUITE A BIT AND DO NOT FEEL THIS IS SAFE. THERE HAVE BEEN PEOPLE ALL OVER THE US WITH PROBLEMS ON THEIR MURANOS AND OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES DEALING WITH THE LOCKS. SOME EVEN ARE UNABLE TO GET THEIR GAS DOOR TO OPEN!! NISSAN REFUSES TO ADMIT THIS IS A PROBLEM. FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE DRIVING A NISSAN, THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. IT WOULD BE VERY DISTURBING TO BE APPROACHED BY A STRANGER IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY BECAUSE THE DOOR WON'T OPEN OR TO BE UNABLE TO PUT GAS IN YOUR VEHICLE B/C THE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN. THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN ALSO COMES INTO PLAY WHEN A DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. *TR
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GO WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS. IT STALLS EXTREMELY BAD. IT HASN'T CAUSED ME A WRECK --YET BUT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I HAVE 2 YOUNG BOYS(AGE 6 &4) AND I AM SCARED FOR THEM TO BE IN THE CAR WITH ME. I CAN NOT PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ANYONE BECAUSE IT TAKES SO LONG FOR THE ACCELERATION TO PICK UP. I LIKE THE LOOKS OF MY MURANO AND I BOUGHT IT SAYING"IT IS A NISSAN SO IT WILL LAST" BUT I AM STARTING TO DOUBT THAT SERIOUSLY!! THIS IS MY 2ND NISSAN VEHICLE AND IF THIS PART CANT BE RECALLED THEN IT WILL BE MY LAST AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD. THIS CVT PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SO MANY OWNERS YET NISSAN REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. 2005 MURANO SL DRIVER'S SEAT LEFT SIDE SUDDENLY DROPPED IN THE LOWER BACK. INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THAT THE SEAT BRACKET BROKE. DEALER SAYS THERE IS A BULLETIN ON REPAIR BUT NOT A RECALL SINCE NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. DRIVER IS JUMBLED IF A BUMP IS HIT & SEAT LEANS TO TOWARD WHICHEVER SIDE WEIGHT IS APPLIED. *TR
DRIVER SEAT FRAME,THE LEFT SIDE REAR BRACKET BROKE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO DROP DOWN 6'' AND BECOME UNSTABLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO, I HEARD A LOUD POP SOUND UNDER MY SEAT, AND SUDDENLY THE BACK LEFT SIDE OF MY SEAT COLLAPSED AND I WAS TOSSED TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE THE ONLY CAR DRIVING ON THE STREET AT THE TIME BECAUSE IT CAUSED ME TO TEMPORARILY LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I CAN'T IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING TO A DRIVER ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. *TR
MY NISSAN MURANO 2005 SUV HAS BEEN STOPPING IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING AGAIN, AND THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THEN 7 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. BUT THIS TIME IT HAPPENED ON THE 405 FWY WITH MY CHILDREN. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN ON THE FREEWAY AND I HAD TO FIND THE RIGHT SHOULDER LANE IN CALL AAA. I CHECKED THE RECALLS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS CAR AND THERE WAS RECALLS BACK IN 2005 WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND I DIDN'T RECEIVE A NOTICES IN THE MAIL. I'VE CALLED THE NISSAN HOTLINE WITH NO REPLIES AND EMAILED THE COMPANY TOO; I WAS EMAILED BACK THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SECOND ROW SEAT BELTS. THIS CAR IS TOTALLY UNSAFE; PLUS VEHICLE HAS FIVE RECALLS SUCH AS GAS TANK, SET BELT, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, TRANSMISSION, AND ALTERNATOR. I LOOKED AT THE FORUM FOR THE NISSAN MURANO IN IT SEEMS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2003-2005 MODELS. *TR
DRIVER SEAT FRAME,THE LEFT SIDE REAR BRACKET BROKE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO DROP DOWN AND BECOME UNSTABLE. *JS
THE VEHICLE FAILS TO TURN AND MUST BE REFILLED WITH POWER STEERING FLUID DAILY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT FAILED AND THE CONTACT ALMOST HIT HER HEAD WITH THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE BRACKETS ON THE SEAT HAD FAILED AND AS A RESULT, THE BRACKETS NEEDED TO BE WELDED. AFTER SOME TIME PASSED, THE SEAT ADJUSTER FAILED AND LATER THE BRACKETS FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MAKE A TERRIBLE TICKING NOISE AND VIBRATED THROUGH THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RULED OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF C.V. JOINTS AS I RAN THE VEHICLE WHILE BEING SAFELY SUPPORTED ON A LIFT. THE NOISE IS ECHOING OUT OF THE CVT HOUSING, ALL FLUID LEVELS ARE UP. *TR
DRIVER SEAT BROKE FROM BEHIND. IF I SEAT DOWN THE SEAT WOBBLES UP AND DOWN. STRUCTURAL FAILURE OF THE ANCHOR/BRACKET ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SAME AS ALL THE ONES IN THE INTERNET BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH FOR A RECALL. NISSAN IS WAITING UNTIL A COUPLE OF PEOPLE DIE TO TAKE ACTION. I REPAIRED MINE BUT ITS THE SAME KIND SO I THINK THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I WILL BE TAKING THE OLD FRAME TO GET WORKED ON BY A WELDER TO INVENT SOMETHING BETTER BECAUSE THEIR IS ENOUGH ROOM FOR A STRONGER BRACKET BUT NISSAN IS ONLY CUTTING COST WITH THE ORIGINAL DESIGN. IF YOU LOOK AT THE OTHER END OF THE BRACKET THAT ALWAYS BRAKES IT IS STRONGER. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST NISSAN I HAVE OWNED 4 NISSANS AND WILL STILL KEEP BUYING THEM BUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS.....COME ON GUYS DON'T CUT CORNERS. *TR
BROKEN ELECTRIC SEAT, WILL NOT MOVE. SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. HARD TO BE COMFORTABLE. PRICE OF REPAIR IS WAY TO EXPENSIVE. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO THAT HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT. THERE IS A METAL BAR UNDER THE SEAT THAT BREAKS. EVIDENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS YEAR OF VEHICLE AND IT DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE THAT THIS IS NOT PART OF A RECALL YET. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING AROUND WITH. I WORKED WITH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL CUSTOMERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THEY CHARGE CLOSE TO $1000 TO REPAIR. I HAVE GONE DIRECTLY TO NISSAN TO SEE IF THIS WOULD BE SOMETHING THEY WOULD HELP COVER THE COSTS ON SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, AND ONE THAT HAS NOW BEEN CORRECTED ON NEWER MODELS, BUT THEY WILL NOT ASSIST AT ALL WITH THE MAIN REASON BEING THAT I'M OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY. I'M VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY VEHICLE. IT CURRENTLY ONLY HAS ABOUT 65,000 MILES ON IT. I AM NOT AN OVERWEIGHT PERSON SO THAT IS NOT A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT IF I WERE IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH MY BROKEN SEAT THAT WOULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MAYBE AT THAT POINT NISSAN WOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BUT UNTIL THAT TIME THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE LEFT TO PAY $1000 IN REPAIRS FOR A FAULTY PART ON THEIR VEHICLE THAT THEY'RE CLEARLY AWARE OF. WHILE TRAVELING AROUND AN OFF-RAMP, THE DRIVER SEAT MADE A LOUD POP SOUND. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THE BRACKET HOLDING THE SEAT TO THE CAR HAS BROKEN LOOSE. LUCKILY I WAS NOT TRAVELING FAST AND I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT OTHERS MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS I HAVE READ ONLINE. *TR
FOR NO VISIBLE REASON, THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR DROPPED DOWN AND COULD NOT BE PUT BACK INTO PLACE. IT REFUSES TO STAY UP. IN THE DOWN POSITION THE VIEW IS CUT IN HALF AND RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR SUSTAINED DRIVING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A TOTAL MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
DRIVERS SEATS ARE BROKEN ON A LOT OF MURANOS. COMPLAINTS ON LINE ALL YEARS. AIRBAG LIGHT WON'T GO OFF.
THE NISSAN MURANO'S SUN VISORS DROP DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AND SUDDENLY IMPEDE VISIBILITY AS WELL AS CREATE A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. THE VISORS NEVER HAVE BEEN VERY SECURE BUT NOW THE SITUATION IS A HAZARD AND NOT JUST AN INCONVENIENCE. *TR
WHEN SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, I HEARD A BREAKING NOISE AND THE SEAT GAVE WAY ON THE LEFT SIDE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE FRAME ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS BROKEN CAUSING THE DRIVER TO SIT IN A DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL POSITION WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. CONTACTED A NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD ONLY FIX WAS TO PURCHASE A NEW SEAT WHICH WOULD COST $1,700 - $2,000. *TR
VISOR KEEPS FALLING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I ALMOST GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT COUPLE TIMES BECAUSE VISOR FELL DOWN AND BLOCKED MY VIEW. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THIS PROBLEM. I RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD'T BE IGNORED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BEGAN LEANING TO THE LEFT ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND DENIED ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,024.
I WAS GOING AROUND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND I HEARD A LOCK SNAPPING SOUND. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY TRAVELING 5 MPH WHEN THE TRANSFER CASE BROKE. *TR
OUR CAR IS STARTING THE SURGING THING AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO TURN OFF THEN ZOOMS OFF. I NEVER REALIZED THE CVT CAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE ISSUES. THE COWARDS AT NISSAN NOT STEPPING FORWARD ARE GOING TO REALIZE REAL QUICK THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOYAL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS! I ALONG WITH A LOT OF OTHER FOLKS WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO NISSAN! *TR
WHEN LOWERED TO BLOCK SUN, DRIVER SIDE VISOR HANGS IN DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT AND WILL NOT STAY UP WHEN LOWERED. AS SUCH, WHEN TRYING TO BLOCK THE SUN, THE DRIVER HAS TO LOOK AROUND OR BELOW THE VISOR TO SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW. THE VISOR WILL STAY UP AGAINST THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE, BUT WHEN LOWERED TO BLOCK SUN IT WILL HANG IN LINE OF SIGHT. PASSENGER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT GO UP AT ALL AND HANGS IN PASSENGER'S LINE OF SIGHT AND PARTIALLY BLOCKS DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE FIX WOULD NOT BE COVERED FOR REPAIR. *TR
DRIVER'S SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE SEAT SHIFTS WHEN HITTIN G A BUMP. IT ALSO MOVES WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALER TOLD ME MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER IT. THIS PART SHOULD BE ON A RECALL, AND CAR OWNER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. *TR
DRIVERS BOTTOM SEAT ASSEMBLY IS BROKEN. *TR
MY DRIVERS FRONT SEAT IS WOBBLY AND LOOSE. MY MECHANIC SAYS THE BASE IS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. HE WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THAT OTHER MURANOS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED. THIS IS A STRUCTURAL PROBLEM AND VERY DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WHEN ALL AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY LIGHTS (SERVICE ENGINE, BATTERY.) ON DASHBOARD TURN ON AND THE SPEED OF MY CAR WAS REDUCED DRASTICALLY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR TO A SPEED OF NO MORE THAN 5MPH. I PARK AND AFTER THAT MY CAR HAD TO BE TOW AWAY. I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR THAT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS A RECALL FOR NISSAN MURANO 2005 ALTERNATORS. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY. THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL IMMEDIATELY AND SEEMED TO WORK VERY HARD TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR WAS THEN ACCOMPANIED BY WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A PLANE LANDING THEN A LOUD BANG. THE BEHAVIOR OF THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE TO FRACTURE. (THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY MY MECHANIC AND AGAIN BY THE NISSAN DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT). NISSAN HAS RECOGNIZED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN A NUMBER OF ITS MODELS INCLUDING THE 2005 MURANO. AS A RESULT, NISSAN VEHICLES RANGING IN YEARS FROM 2003-2010 EQUIPPED WITH A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) HAVE RECEIVED A 10-YEAR /120,000 MILE CVT LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION. UNFORTUNATELY THIS EXTENSION'' ONLY COVERS THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF AND NOT THE PARTS AROUND IT. I AM STUCK PAYING THE $3,400 TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE OR BE FORCED TO SELL THE CAR. NISSAN IS LEAVING THE ORIGINAL CVT IN MY MURANO AND I WILL UNDOUBTEDLY BE IN THE SHOP PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR ANOTHER BREAKAGE THAT COULD BE AVOIDED BY A RECALL. I RAISED THIS ISSUE WITH NISSAN CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED CVT WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT BE ASSISTING FINANCIALLY. THEY DID HOWEVER OFFER ME A $150 VOUCHER OFF OF THE INVOICED PRICE OF NEW NISSAN VEHICLE. THIS RESPONSE IS LAUGHABLE AND VERY INSULTING. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN BECOMING INVOLVED IN ANY LEGAL ACTIONS THAT WILL HASTEN A RECALL SO THAT OTHERS WILL NOT BE BURDENED BY THIS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND FINANCIALLY FLEECED BY NISSAN CORPORATION AMIDST AN ECONOMIC RECESSION. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM WITH NISSAN AND THE MURANO IN PARTICULAR, I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO HAVE AND PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AND I WILL MOST CERTAINLY NOT BE THE LAST. *TT
I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT WHEN I'D USE MY KEYLESS ENTRY THAT THE DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK SO I REPLACED MY KEYLESS ENTRY ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT WASN'T IT USING THE PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IF I UNLOCK/LOCK THE DOORS ONLY 1 DOOR ASIDE FROM THE DRIVERS WILL UNLOCK... MY TRUNK WILL UNLOCK SELECTIVELY AND WITH THIS MODEL THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO GET IN OUR OUT THE TRUNK ASIDE FROM THE TAIL GATE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET IT FIXED AND WHEN HIS RESPONSE IMMEDIATELY WAS "IT'S YOUR ACTUATORS, WE GET THESE ALL THE TIME WITH YOUR KIND OF CAR" IT STRUCK A NERVE WITH ME AND I DIDN'T GET IT DONE WHEN I FOUND OUT THE COST IS $400 PER DOOR THAT'S INCLUDING LABOR I THEN STARTED TO DO RESEARCH ON LINE AND I SEE FORUMS OF OVER A THOUSAND 05/06 MURANO OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT IM HAVING SOME HAVE REPLACED THEM SOME HAVE COMPLAINED THERE WAS PETITIONS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE GOD FORBID SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T REALIZE THIS GETS IN AND LIKE MOST OF US LOCKS THERE DOORS BEHIND THEM ONLY TO REALIZE IT DIDN'T WITH SOMETHING AWFUL LIKE A BURGLARY OR SOMETHING... WHAT IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND THEY CANT GET TO THE VICTIM BECAUSE THE DOORS DON'T UNLOCK THESE ARE WORST CASE SCENARIOS BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE COMMON. *TR
HAS FAULTY ELECTRONIC LOCKS. VIEWED AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT PREVENTS THE ABILITY TO GET IN AND/OR OUT IN A QUICK AND EFFICIENT MANNER SHOULD THERE BE AN EMERGENCY. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK/LOCK USING THE ELECTRONIC DEVICES OR BUTTONS AND IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE DOOR YOU HAVE TO OPEN ANOTHER DOOR AND REACH OVER AND MANUALLY UNLOCK. I HAVE SIGNIFICANT CONCERNS RELATED TO MY AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND NISSAN IS NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE OR REPAIR CAUSING SIGNIFICANT (UP TO $1600) FINANCIAL COST TO THE OWNER. *TR

DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET BROKE MAKING SEAT UNSTABLE AND UNSAFE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN, AS NEWER MODEL MURANO'S HAVE A REINFORCED BRACKET. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, OR ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WELD ON THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WAS BROKEN. THE CONTACT COULD SIT IN THE SEAT BUT THE SEAT WOULD ROCK BACK AND FOURTH. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IF INVOLVED IN A CRASH, THE SEAT COULD POSSIBLY BE USED AS A PROJECTILE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE LOCKS TO THE POINT THE REAR HATCH LOCKS AND WON'T UNLOCK, NOT ALL DOORS LOCK OR UNLOCK ANYMORE. TOOK TO OUR MECHANIC AND WHEN HE REPLACED THE SWITCH IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. HE DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAID THIS IS AN ISSUE FROM NISSAN DIRECTLY WITH THE ACTUATORS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A SLIGHT TURN AT 20 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT SHIFTED TO THE LEFT IN A ROCKING MOTION. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN RESUMED DRIVING WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55MPH), THE DRIVERS SEAT SUDDENLY FELL BACKWARDS. LUCKILY, IT WAS ONLY FELL BACK ON THE LEFT SIDE. IF BOTH SIDES HAD BROKEN, MY WIFE MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LOOKING AT THE SEAT, THERE IS A CROSS BAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT BACK THAT HAD ONE SIDE SHEAR OFF. I'VE READ A NHTSA REPORT (SEE HTTP://X.NISSANHELP.COM/FORUMS/MURANO/12811-NO-RECALL-MURANO-SEAT.HTML) THAT SAYS THAT "WHILE THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM IS RELATIVELY HIGH, ONLY THREE VERY MINOR, UNDOCUMENTED INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE REPORTED INJURIES OCCURRED DURING DRIVER INGRESS, NOT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED THAT THE APPARENT RISK OF COMPROMISE TO VEHICLE CONTROL HAS NOT BEEN DEMONSTRATED." WITH THE SEAT BROKEN, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AN INVESTIGATOR WOULDN'T FIND THIS NOT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. IF THE RIGHT SIDE ALSO BROKE, IT MAY CAUSE THE BACK OF THE SEAT TO FALL BACKWARDS AND I WOULD EXPECT THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL. WITH THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE POSTING THIS COMPLAINT ONLINE, I'M AMAZED THAT THIS HASN'T RESULTED IN A RECALL. ALSO, SINCE I'VE READ THAT NISSAN HAS REDESIGNED THE SEAT BRACKET, THEN THIS WOULD CONFIRM THAT THERE WAS INFERIOR ENGINEERING DONE PREVIOUSLY. OTHERWISE, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE FIXED IT. *TR
MY FRONT DRIVERS SEAT HAS COME LOOSE, AND IS ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT, AND A POSSIBLE DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS REAR ENDED WHILE STOPPED FOR A LIGHT AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT-BACK FELL BACKWARDS AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT. THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE AREA IS 50MPH AND I AM NOT SURE HOW FAST THE OTHER DRIVER WAS GOING. THE CAR HAS BEEN SCRAPPED BY THE OTHER DRIVER'S INSURANCE CARRIER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SEAT -BACKS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO MOVE ON IMPACT. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT MOVED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET WAS FRACTURED, HOWEVER HE WAS ABLE TO RESUME OPERATION CAUTIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE CAUSING THE SEAT TO BE UNSTABLE DURING BRAKING. I CONTACTED THE NISSAN DEALER AT THE TIME AND HE STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND RECOMMENDED I FIND SOMEONE TO WELD THE SEAT FRAME. *TR
