DRIVERS SIDE POWER SEAT JUST WENT "POP" AND TOTALLY IS LOOSE AND LEANING TO ONE SIDE WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN HAS HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS.. VEHICLE IS JUST 1000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY AND WE ALSO FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY THE $508 CHARGE TO FIX THIS. *TR
THE PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK CONSISTENTLY. *TR
THE BACK LEFT CORNER AND POSSIBLY FRONT LEFT CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOUNT/FRAME BROKE LOOSE FROM THE TRACK/CAR WHICH IS CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK DIAGONALLY SEVERAL INCHES OFF OF THE FLOORBOARD.
ALL PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK EITHER USING THE FOB OR THE DRIVER POWER LOCK CONTROLLER, THE HATCH IS NOW LOCKING INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY/SECURITY ISSUE ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THE HATCH IS HAVING PROBLEMS. THIS ISSUE STARTED IN 2011, WHICH I HAD THE DRIVERS DOOR FIXED, THEN STARTING IN 2012 THE PASSENGER DOORS STARTED HAVING ISSUES, NOW IN 2013 THE REMAINING PASSENGER DOOR AND HATCHBACK!! THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WHICH MUST BE ADDRESSED!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V054000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) THIS YEAR, BUT THE FAILURE RETURNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED, AND THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,261 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,283.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL BRACKET THAT HELD THE DRIVER SEAT IN PLACE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE LIFTER LINK ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
2005 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET IS BROKEN, SEAT HAS BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE BY NISSAN DEALER. SEAT ROCKS WHEN GOING AROUND CORNERS. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE DRIVER SEAT IS ROCKING AND MOVING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE THE SEAT BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR FAILED. I FIXED IT IN 2008 AND PAID APPROX. $ 1,000.00 AND AGAIN IT HAPPENED IN 2011 THE SEAT IS ROCKING AND MOVING TOWARD THE LEFT SIDE WHICH HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BY LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR. I CALLED THE NISSAN NORTH AMERICA SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY DECLINE TO EVEN ADMIT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BRACKET HOLDING THE SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ISSUE WHICH COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT BY LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR WHEN THE SEAT SNAPS AWAY FROM ITS TRACK. THIS PROBLEM HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND AS OF TODAY NISSAN REFUSE TO RECALL THE NISSAN MURANOS AND TRY TO PERMENATLY FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NISAAN DEALERSHIPS RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE A TSB # 05043 WAS ISSUED BY NISSAN TO ALL DEALERSHIPS TO ALERT THEM AND SHOW THEM HOW TO TEMPORARY FIX THE PROBLEM. THE COST OF THE PART DOUBLED IN TWO YEARS BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DEMAND. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ISSUE AND A FATAL ACCIDENT IS WAITING TO HAPPEN. NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEATS AND FIX IT WITHOUT ANY COST FOR THE CONSUMER. A RECALL MUST BE ISSUED BY NISSAN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT NISSAN DOUBLE THE PRICE ON THE PART NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND FORCE THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR IT KNOWING THAT THIS WILL NOT FIX THE SEATS PERMANENTLY. THE BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE SEATS MUST BE RE-DESIGNED TO CARRY THE WEIGHT OF THE DRIVER WITHOUT SNAPPING AND BREAKING WHILE DRIVING. I URGE THE US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO RE-INVESTIGATE THE SEATS IN THE 2005 MURANO AND NOT WAIT UNTIL A FATAL ACCIDENT HAPPENS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND IT SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED. *LN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME BENEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE, AND CONFIRMED THAT THE FRAME ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED . THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAS FAULTY ELECTRONIC LOCKS. VIEWED AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT PREVENTS THE ABILITY TO GET IN AND/OR OUT IN A QUICK AND EFFICIENT MANNER SHOULD THERE BE AN EMERGENCY. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK/LOCK USING THE ELECTRONIC DEVICES OR BUTTONS AND IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE DOOR YOU HAVE TO OPEN ANOTHER DOOR AND REACH OVER AND MANUALLY UNLOCK. I HAVE SIGNIFICANT CONCERNS RELATED TO MY AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND NISSAN IS NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE OR REPAIR CAUSING SIGNIFICANT (UP TO $1600) FINACIAL COST TO THE OWNER. *TR
DRIVER SEAT LIFTER ASSEMBLY WELD BROKEN. WAS $400 TO REPAIR. I HAVE SEEN IN NUMEROUS FORUMS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON WITH NISSAN MURANOS. HOW CAN YOU TRUST THAT THE CAR WILL BE SAFE IN A CRASH IF THE DRIVERS SEAT WELDS ARE PRONE TO FAILURE. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT FALLING OFF SUDDENLY AND BLOCKING DRIVER VISION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED HIM THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING HOSE. THE STEERING HOSE HAD TO BE ORDERED AND IT WOULD COST $700 TO REPAIR. THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 70,650. UPDATED 03/24/11*LJ THE DEALER REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE AND POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE AND CLAMPS. UPDATED 08/04/11
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY SECURED IN THE 'UP' POSITION. FALLS INTO DRIVER'S VISION AT UNEXPECTED TIMES AND ESPECIALLY IF DRIVING OVER ROUGH SURFACE OR HITTING BUMP OR DIP IN ROAD SURFACE. PRESENTS CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGEROUS CONDITION(S) FROM SUDDEN LACK OF VISIBILITY AND/OR IN ACTING AS A POTENTIAL 'KNIFE EDGE' IN CASE OF A SUDDEN STOP. *TR
ALL OF MY LOCKS NO LONGER WORK. I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE AND NOTHING IS GETTING DONE ABOUT IT. I THOUGHT NISSAN WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ONE OF THE BEST OUT THERE. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN IF THEY CONTINUE NOT TO ASSIST THEIR CUSTOMERS. I ALSO HAVE THE AIR INTAKE ISSUE, THANKFULLY THAT WAS RECALLED AND WILL BE FIXED. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT STRUTS, OIL COOLER GASKET, FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS AND THE BATTERY HAS BEEN CHANGED 3 TIMES NOW. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH NISSAN AND SO EMBARRASSED TO EVEN TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. :( *TR
WHEN I FIRST START MY CAR IN THE GARAGE IT JUST DIED RIGHT AWAY NO LIGHTS. THEN I STARTED IT UP AGAIN, DROVE TO THE GROCERY STORE ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY. I THEN GOT INTO THE CAR TO DRIVE OUT OF THE HIGHWAY HEADED FOR HOME. TRAVELING ABOUT 1 MILES IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNING INTO A VERY BUSY MAIN STREET, MY CAR JUST SLOW DOWN AND I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD IDLE AND NOT MOVE. IT WAS A VERY SCARY MOMENT BECAUSE MANY CARS COMING CLOSE HITTING ME AND OTHER CARS ALMOST COLLIDED INTO EACH OTHER. I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON JUST TO GET THE CAR MOVING OUT OF THE TRAFFIC. IT WOULD NOT LET ME ACCELERATE, THEN IT WOULD SHAKE AND SIT THERE. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE SCARED TOO DEATH AND PRAYED THE WHOLE TIME. FINALLY I CALLED DESPERATELY BEGGING FOR THEM TO COME AND AFTER ABOUT 45MINUTES THE TOW COMPANY TRUCK SHOWED UP. I CHANGED MY OIL FAITHFULLY AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS OR LIGHTS WOULD TELL ME MY CAR IS IN TROUBLE. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER ACROSS THE TOWN. I WENT HOME ALL STRESSED OUT BECAUSE I COULDN'T AFFORD A CAR PROBLEM AND THE COST. I JUST GOT OUT OF SURGERY A WEEK AGO. I WAS SEARCHING WHAT KIND OF PROBLEM COULD I POSSIBLY HAVE, THEN I CAME ACROSS ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE LIKE I DID. THEN ON MONDAY, THE DEALER CALLED AND ASKED IF I HAD TRANSMISSION I TOLD THEM NO. THE MAIN SERVICE MAN FROM NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY HEART JUST DROPPED AND IT'S A GOOD THING THAT HE SAID THEY WILL PLACE AN ORDER AND REPLACED THIS WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION AND I WOULD NOT HAVE MY CAR BACK (NOT SURE WHEN). I PAID $90.00 FOR TOW SERVICES AND DON'T HAVE A CAR UNTIL WHEN TO GET TO WORK. THIS IS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND NOT RIGHT THAT THIS HAPPENS TO US. WE REALLY DEPEND ON THIS CAR FOR MY FAMILY AND TAKE CARE OF THIS FAIRLY NEW CAR. I USUALLY DON'T COMPLAIN BUT THIS IS ONE IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. 2005 NISSAN MURANO DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE GONE BAD. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ON LINE AND HAVE FOUND NEARLY EVERY OWNER HAS HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE - THIS BEING ONE OF THE NUMBER ONE ISSUES. HOWEVER, NISSAN REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY REALIZE THAT IT IS SOMETHING THEY DID WRONG IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE? THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR ARBITRARILY DROPS INTO VIEW FROM THE STORED POSITION CAUSING A DISTRACTION AND MOMENTARILY BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VISION. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION GIVEN THE DISTRACTION, BLOCKED VISION, AND DAILY OCCURRENCES. *TR
WHEN DRIVING MY NISSAN MURANO ESPECIALLY ON HOT DAYS/IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN IT HAPPENS (~1X/WEEK), THE VEHICLE WILL BE AT A COMPLETE STOP & NOT BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AFTER DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL AROUND 3K RPMS. THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED BY CYCLING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN ON, GIVEN THAT THE DRIVING CONDITIONS DON'T REMAIN IN THE FORM WHICH APPEARED TO INITIATE THE INCIDENT. IN ONE INSTANCE (AND ONLY ONCE), THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING, WITH THE A/C ON WHILE I MADE A QUICK RUN INTO A CONVIENENCE STORE. AFTER BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE WITHOUT A PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED IT'S SLIGHT HESITATION WHILE IN DRIVE, BUT THEN LURCHED FORWARD AT ~3K RPMS, AND ACQUIRED THE DESIRED SPEED AND MANUEVERS. AFTER WAITING AT THE LIGHT JUST OUTSIDE OF THE PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR IN THE FORM OF MOVEMENT. THAT IS, THE ENGINE WOULD REV TO AS MUCH AS 5K RPMS, BUT NOT MOVE MORE THE .5-1MPH. THE USUAL CYCLING OF THE ENGINE OFF & THEN ON, WOULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DESTINATION WAS NEARBY (1MI.) & DOWNHILL, SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST, IN NEUTRAL, TO THAT LOCATION WHILST BEING HONKED AT & NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD SAT AT THAT LOCATION FOR ~3HRS, THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS OF THE LIKE. IT IS WORTH MENTIONING THE HESITATION PROBLEM WAS NOT EXPERIENCED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. HOWEVER, IT WASN'T TOO LONG BEFORE THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM RETURNED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO OTHER MECHANICAL ISSUES I HAVE NOTICED. NO CORRELATIONS OTHER THAN THAT OF TEMPERATURE AND/OR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE IS THAT THOSE CORRELATIONS ARE NOT DEPENDENT UPON EACH OTHER; THE PROBLEM CAN/DOES OCCUR IN THE ABSENCE OF EITHER. HOWEVER, IT IS TYPICALLY NOT SEEN WITHOUT AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE FACTORS PRESENT. *TT
THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR FAILED.. MORE SPECIFICALLY, WHEN THE LOCK SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED ELECTRONICALLY, THE DOORS TYPICALLY FAIL TO COMPLETELY LOCK OR UNLOCK COMPLETELY. VISUALLY, THE INSIDE LOCK 'BUTTON' ONLY MOVES PARTWAY. THERE IS REASON TO BELIEVE THIS AFFECTS MANY OWNERS OF NISSAN AND INFINITY VEHICLES. SOME SUSPECT ACTUATOR PROBLEMS AND OTHERS SUSPECT RELAY PROBLEMS. THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION INTO A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND THERE'S PETITIONS. THE MANUFACTURER DOESN'T WANT TO CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY AND THIS PROBLEM IS AFFECTING THOUSANDS OF OWNERS. THIS PROBLEM HAS SAFETY IMPLICATION AND CAN CREATE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. I ADVICE THAT THIS PROBLEM BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND MAKE THE MANUFACTURERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE DEFECTS. THANK YOU *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG, I TOOK A SLIGHT TURN AND HEARD A CRACK SOUND. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BACK LEFT CORNER OF MY DRIVER SEAT FELL, UPON STOPPING THE VEHICLE, I FOUND I CAN NOW EASILY "ROCK" MY DRIVER SEAT UP/DOWN. DUE TO THIS, I HAVE SEVERE BACK STRAIN WHILE DRIVING ALONG WITH GREAT CONCERNS OF SAFETY, IF I GO OVER A BUMP WILL MY FOOT SLIP OFF THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE? IF, IN AN ACCIDENT WILL I END UP IN THE BACK SEAT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE? IS MY YOUNG FAMILY IN JEOPARDY? *TR
DRIVER'S SEAT. UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF DRIVER'S SEAT IS A METAL BRACKET THAT SNAPPED, CAUSING SEAT TO ROCK. BROUGHT IT TO TWO PLACES AND WAS TOLD IT'S PROBABLY A FACTORY DEFECT. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER AND ALSO FILED A CLAIM WITH DEALER'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT AS FAR AS A FACTORY RECALL OR REPAIRING AT NO COST TO ME. *TR
THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR IS FAILING TO LOCK OR UNLOCK FROM KEY FOB OR FROM LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH ON DRIVER'S DOOR. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AND HAVE UNCOVERED A VEHICLE DEFECT THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE SUN VISORS ARE A DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND KEEP FLIPPING COMPLETELY DOWN AND BLOCKING THE VIEW THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. IN SOME OF THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES, YOUR VISION GETS COMPLETELY BLOCKED UNTIL YOU FLIP IT BACK UP. THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS IN THE SNOW, RAIN, HEAVY TRAFFIC, OR AT NIGHT. SOMETIMES IT CAN DROP 2 - 3 TIMES A MINUTE. THIS IS A PROBLEM ON THOUSANDS OF 2003 TO 2007 MURANOS. REPLACING THE SUN VISOR IS PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE AT $400 EACH AND SINCE THIS FLAW HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AT ALL BY NISSAN, YOU ARE ONLY REPLACING A DEFECTIVE VISOR WITH A NEW ONE THAT WILL BECOME DEFECTIVE IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. I REPLACED MY DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR 2 YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT AND THE REPLACEMENT ONE IS NOW DROPPING AGAIN. NISSAN HAS A TSB TO REPLACE THE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE MIRROR SIDE OF THE VISOR BUT THAT DOES NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE VISOR, NOT THE CLIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT AFFECTS ALL 2005 NISSAN MURANOS. THE DRIVERS SEAT SUPPORT HAS A DESIGN FLAW MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE, THE FLAW IS IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT SUPPORT. IT MAKES THE SUPPORT SUPPORT SO FRAGILE THAT IT BREAKS, THUS DISCONNECTING THE SEAT FROM THE SEAT RAIL. THIS SUPPORT WILL BREAK DURING AN ACCIDENT, OR SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IF BROKEN DURING AN ACCIDENT, THE SEAT WILL NOT PERFORM ACCEPTABLY AS PART OF THE SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM; (THE SAFETY RESTRAIN SYSTEM IS COMPRISED OF THE SEAT, THE SEAT BELTS, AND THE AIRBAGS. THEY WORK TOGETHER TO MINIMIZE INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. WITH THE SEAT LOOSE, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM'S FUNCTION IS FATALLY COMPROMISED); AGGRAVATED INJURIES OR UNNECESSARY DEATH MAY RESULT. REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON NISSAN MURANO WITH 87K MILES JUST BLEW UP AS WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAD BEEN TO A BODY SHOP FOR A NEW BUMPER, OIL CHANGE, AND NEW TIRES WITHIN THE LAST MONTH, AND NONE OF THESE EXPERTS NOTICED ANY ISSUES WITH LEAKING FLUID ETC. THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER TOLD US THE FLUID WAS COMPLETELY GONE (WAY BEFORE IT EVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE). THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A HITCH AND HAS ONLY BEEN USED FOR URBAN/HIGHWAY USE. I AM WRITING IN REGARD TO A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE DRIVER'S SEAT SUPPORT BRACKET HAS BROKEN. THE SEAT IS LOOSE AND ROCKS AND WOBBLES. A DRIVER CANNOT SIT SECURELY IN THE SEAT AS IT MOVES WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. IN LOOKING UNDER THE SEAT IT SHOWS THAT THE LEFT STEEL BRACKET HAS TOTALLY BROKEN IN HALF LEAVING THE SEAT UNSUPPORTED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED BY NISSAN, AND SINCE WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY, IT WILL COST $900.00. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS SO THE SEAT REMAINS BROKEN. I ASKED THE MECHANIC ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THEIR HANDS ARE TIED AS NISSAN WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR ON A RECALL BASIS. THE MECHANIC HAS SEEN SEVERAL OF THESE, BUT HE SAID THAT OURS IS THE WORST ONE HE HAS SEEN. MOST OF THE OTHERS HAVE JUST BEEN WOBBLY, BUT OURS IS TOTALLY BROKEN. HE OFFERED TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT NISSAN ABOUT IT AND "GO TO BAT FOR US". THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS MORE THAN 8,000 HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THE AIR INTAKE HOSE FELL OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION CAUSING THE ENGINE TO INSTANTLY STALL LEAVING THE CAR DISABLED WITH NO STEERING CONTROL. THE FIRST TWO TIMES WERE IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS, BUT THE THIRD TIME WAS ON A HEAVILY TRAVELED ROAD AT NIGHT CAUSING A SERIOUS AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR WAS ALMOST STRUCK SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I WAS REMOVING MY TODDLER FROM THE BACKSEAT OF THE DISABLED CAR. EACH OF THE THREE TIMES THE CAR HAS STALLED I BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID THEY PREVIOUSLY REPLACED A DIFFERENT RECALL PART IN THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, BUT THE WAY THE CAR WAS DESIGNED MADE THE OTHER END OF THE AIR INTAKE HOSE LIKELY TO FALL OFF DUE TO VIBRATION. THEY SHOWED ME HOW REMOVING THE AIR FILTER DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CAN LOOSEN THE AIR INTAKE HOSE, EVEN WHEN THE CLAMP IS TIGHTENED. I ASKED THEM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, IT WAS JUST THE WAY THE HOSE WAS DESIGNED. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD TAKEN THE HIGHWAY HOME AND THE CAR HAD STALLED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE SUGGESTED FIX FROM NISSAN WAS TO TIGHTEN THE HOSE CLAMPS EACH TIME THE CAR IS USED, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW SUPPOSEDLY AFTER THE CLAMPS WERE TIGHTENED BY NISSAN SERVICE MECHANICS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS DEFECT AND I AM GRATEFUL THAT NOBODY HIT US WHILE THE CAR WAS STALLED. AFTER THREE TIMES, I AM TOO SCARED TO EVER DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN.

1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. AS I WAS DRIVING MY MURANO NISSAN ON THE EXPRESSWAY TO GO HOME AFTER WORK, I HEARD A HARD SNAP AND FELT A LITTLE JERK TOWARDS MY LEFT SIDE. UNSURE OF WHAT IT WAS, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD. AS I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE, I FELT A ROUGH THUMPING UNDERNEATH MY SEAT. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN TULSA TO HAVE IT CHECKED TODAY, AND WAS INFORMED THAT I NEED A NEW FRAME FOR THE DRIVER'S SEAT, AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME APPROXIMATELY $1275.00 INSTALLED.
