BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED UNDER 100,000 MILES. I AM NOW HAVING TO TAKE IT AGAIN TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. *TR
2006 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT AND SUN VISOR. MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO HAS HAD TWO PARTS FAIL THAT I BELIEVE ARE A SAFETY CONCERN AND WARRANT A RECALL. THE 1ST PART IS THE DRIVERS SEAT. I'M NOT A LARGE PERSON BUT THE LEFT SIDE SEAT BRACKET BROKE AND NOW MY SEAT ROCKS LEFT AND RIGHT. I CAN'T RAISE THE SEAT UP AND DOWN BECAUSE ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE WORKS. THE SEAT ALSO BOUNCES UP AND DOWN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MURANO AND NISSAN'S EXCUSE IS "WEAR AND TEAR." SERIOUSLY??? NISSAN OFFERED TO REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SEAT FOR $1000 +. THE SECOND PART THAT HAS FAILED IS THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR. WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP, THE SUN VISOR SWIVELS DOWN AND TOTALLY BLOCKS THE DRIVERS VIEW OUT THE WINDOW. THIS IS NOT SAFE. NISSAN OFFERED TO REPLACE THE SUN-VISOR FOR $350. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FLIPS/FALLS DOWN. IT'S ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP, CAUSING A DRIVING HAZARD. WHEN YOU PUSH THE VISOR UP, IT WON'T STAY AND KEEPS MINIMAL TENSION.
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR SUDDENLY DROPS IN FRONT OF DRIVER'S FIELD OF VIEW. THE VISOR WILL NOT REMAIN IN THE UP OR "STOWED" POSITION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. VISIBILITY IS 0% AND ONLY REMEDY IS TO HOLD THE VISOR UP WITH ONE HAND AND STEER VEHICLE WITH THE OTHER. *TR
I BOUGHT A 206 NISSAN MURANO FROM A DEALER. THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED CLEAN BY MANHEIM THE AUCTION HOUSE.THE CAR WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND IT WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION BY STEVENS CREEK NISSAN WWW.STEVENSCREEKNISSAN.COM. IT WAS CERTIFIED CLEAN WITH ABSOLUTELY _NO_LEAKS_. THEN 30 DAYS LATER I HEAR A WHINE WITHIN THE CAR AND I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO INSPECT. IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS A LEAK IN POWER STEERING FLUID HOSE. HOW COME 30 DAYS THERE WASN'T ANY REPORTED LEAK , BUT NOW THERE IS A LEAK THAT HAD DRAINED A LOT OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND THAT CAUSED THE HIGH PITCH WHINE. THE MECHANIC ADDED SOME POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE SOUND STOPPED. WHEN I CHECKED WITH A KRAGEN STORE WHERE I WENT TO BUY POWER STEERING FLUID , THEY SAID THAT THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN. I CHECKED THE NEWS GROUPS ONLINE AND I FIND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT NISSAN POWER STEERING HOSE. 2006 NISSAN MURANO SEAT FALLS DOWN AND BRACKETS BREAK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD MY NISSAN MURANO POWER SET FAIL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE BOTTOM SECTION THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE SEAT RAIL FAILED AND CAUSED ME TO GO OUT OF CONTROL WHEN THE SEAT LEANED BACKWARDS I JERKED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. VERY VERY BIG PROBLEM AND I ALMOST ENDED UP IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR ON MY 2006 MURANO IS DEFECTIVE AND NISSAN'S GOLD EXTENDED WARRANTY AND NISSAN CORP IS CLAIMING THIS SHOULDN'T BE COVERED. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THE VISOR WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED; CONSIDERING IT BLOCKS THE DRIVERS VIEW WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT ABRUPTLY COMES DOWN NISSAN SHOULD TAKE GREAT CARE IN TAKING CARE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS IS SOMETHING I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT SINCE 2008 WHEN IT STARTED WITH A SMALL RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE MECHANISM BUT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM WAS THE VISOR AND TRIED TO POINT TO THE PLASTIC CLIP HOLDING THE VISOR IN PLACE. IT WOULD TRAGIC FOR SOMEONE TO EXPERIENCE AND ACCIDENT FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT WOULD BE GREAT IF SOMEONE WOULD PUT THIS ISSUE UNDER REVIEW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY IN A STATIC POSITION. VISOR CAN EITHER BE LOCKED UPRIGHT, OR IF UNLOCKED AND IN USE, FALLS STRAIGHT DOWN BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD. THE VISOR FALLS EVERY TIME I USE IT, AND I CAN NOT GET IT TO STAY PUT. I WAS TOLD THE VISOR WAS OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY AND WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $400 TO REPLACE. NISSAN DRIVER SEAT FAILED. COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM BASE. NISSAN SERVICE DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED LIFT LINK ASSEMBLY AND WOULD COST AROUND $600 FOR REPAIR. I PAID FOR THE EXTENDED IN MY NISSAN MURANO AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
DRIVING MY 2006 MURANO WHEN SUDDENLY THE SEAT LURCHED DOWN TO THE LEFT AFTER A LOUD SNAP. DEALER SAID MY SEAT FRAME HAD A BROKEN WELD, AND A NEEDED REPLACEMENT WOULD COST $1,150.00., EVEN THOUGH THIS IS OBVIOUSLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A TURN. I PAID FOR THE SEAT, AND IMMEDIATELY DECIDED TO SELL THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT ONLY HAD 63,000 MILES AND IT WAS ALWAYS WELL MAINTAINED. I AM NOT AN USUALLY LARGE MAN, 225 LBS. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS FAILURE, AND REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR POOR SAFETY DESIGN. *TR
HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC LINE ASSOCIATED WITH POWER STEERING PUMP IS LEAKING. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE USED FROM A DEALER A NOISE UNDER THE HOOD BEGAN. I COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS LEAKING AT A FITTING. HE QUOTED THE REPAIR PRICE TO BE SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. I FILLED THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS TYPE ONLINE THROUGH NISSAN FORUMS AND THROUGH AUTO FAULT AWARENESS WEBSITES. PART NUMBER 49720-CB60A. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS FAULTY. THE FIRST TIME I PUT IT DOWN IT WAS VERY TIGHT. THE NEXT TIME I PUT IT DOWN IT WAS LIKE SOMETHING SNAPPED AND NOW THE VISOR HANGS EXTREMELY LOOSE. AS I AM DRIVING, IT CONTINUOUSLY FALLS BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENS ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS. I KNOW THIS IS NOT DUE TO REGULAR USE AS I HAVE SEEM MANY COMPLAINTS IN DIFFERENT NISSAN FORUMS ABOUT THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN. IT FLIPS DOWN ON ITS OWN ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FILING A COMPLAINT FORM. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM MY FIRST COMPLAINT FORM. ON MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL ONLY STAY IN THE FULL UP POSITION OR FULLY DOWN. TO DRIVE IN THE SUN, I HOLD THE VISOR UP WITH ONE HAND. DEALER HAS REPLACED A CLIP, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. THEY SAY THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE ($400 +) THE SUNVISOR. *TR
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP, EITHER UP AGAINST THE HEADLINER OR AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. BOTH SIDES HAVE NOW FAILED TO STAY UP. *TR
ON A VERY FOGGY MORNING, WAS DOING ABOUT 45 M.P.H.,REALIZED I WAS COMING UP ON A STOP SIGN IN MY 2006 MURANO. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES, LIKE USUAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, AFTER NORMAL PRESSURE DIDN'T WORK. MY CAR FAILED TO STOP AFTER I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AND FAST AS I COULD. I SLID I THINK THE BRAKES LOCKED. I SKIDDED THROUGH A STOP SIGN, RESULTING IN BEING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. THE OTHER DRIVER'S CAR WAS MOST LIKELY DESTROYED, ALSO. MAYBE, I IMAGINED IT, BUT IT FELT LIKE MY CAR SPED UP, IN ADDITION TO THE BRAKES FAILING. I HAVE WHIPLASH INJURIES AND GOT BADLY BRUISED. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. I HAVE (OR HAD) AN EXCELLENT DRIVING RECORD. TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKES FELT LIKE THEY MIGHT BE FADING. THERE WAS NO SCRUBBING NOISE, OR THE HIGH PITCHED WHINE WORN- OUT BRAKES HAVE. THE CAR HAD A LITTLE OVER 54000 MILES ON IT , AND WAS "MY BABY", SO I TOOK GOOD CARE OF IT. ANOTHER REASON IT WAS WELL-MAINTAINED. I HAVE 12 INCH RODS IN MY SPINE, AND DEPEND ON MY VEHICLE TO PROTECT ME. YES, THE AIRBAGS, ETC. WORKED, BUT I BELIEVE THE BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING THE WRECK. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE DRIVER SEAT MADE A SNAP SOUND, AND SUDDENLY LEANED TO ONE SIDE. 2006 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT ANCHOR NO LONGER WORKS. THE DRIVERS SEAT IN MY WIFE'S 2006 MURANO IS TILTED TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND ROCKS AND APPEARS "LOOSE" WHEN ENTERING OR EXITING THE VEHICLE. IN MY OPINION THERE IS THE POTENTIAL DANGER THAT THE SUIT CAN MORE EASILY BECOME FULLY UNANCHORED IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED A COLLISION. A. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY DEFECT IN THAT AN OBVIOUS LAYER OF DRIVER PROTECTION HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY COMPROMISED. I DO NOT FEEL IT'S APPROPRIATE FOR NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS TO BECOME INJURED BEFORE THE MANUFACTURER IS REQUIRED TO FIX THE DEFECT AND URGE THE NHTSA TO MANDATE THAT THE MANUFACTURER CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I AM A 5'9" WOMAN WHO WEIGHS 150 POUNDS. MY NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT TIPS WHENEVER I MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO MY NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT AND POSSIBLY FIX THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $1000 TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RESOLVED DUE TO A THIN WELD THAT BROKE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN WOULD BE WILLING TO CORRECT WITH LOW OR NO COST ASSOCIATED WITH IT TO THE CONSUMER.
2006 NISSAN MURANO BROKEN SEAT BRACKET. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN FOR A SEAT CLICKING SEVERAL TIMES DURING 3/36 WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN MURANO WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, SEVERAL DAYS AGO THE SEAT BRACKET BROKE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THIS WAS A BIG SURPRISE, I SWERVED SEVERAL TIMES AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY, IT WOULD COST 800 TO FIX I CONTACTED THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY ALSO DON?T CARE TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE AN ISSUE THAT REQUIRES A RECALL BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY OF THESE CARS ON THE ROAD AND MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON WEB FORUMS. WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO, I HEARD A SNAP AND MY SEAT COLLAPSED, SHIFTING TO THE LEFT. NISSAN MURANO 2006, I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS IN THE PAST. I TOOK MY SUV TO THE DEALER IN JAN 2010 FOR A POWER STEERING LEAK. THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME THE HOSE HAD TO BE REPAIRED, SO I GOT IT REPAIRED. A MONTH LATER I STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM IN FEB 2010. NOW NISSAN SERVICE IS BLAMING ON THE POWER STEERING RACK, AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED FOR $2000.00. I WENT ON LINE TO SEE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND FOUND OTHERS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE. BROKEN FRAME ASSEMBLY IN DRIVER'S SEAT FOR 2006 NISSAN MURANO. NORMAL WEAR & TEAR, NO SPECIFIC EVENT CAUSED THIS DAMAGE. THE SEAT ROCKS AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SEAT BRACKET AND LIFT MOTOR ASSEMBLY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ESTIMATES THE REPAIR COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO BE $680. THIS IS NOT A WEARABLE PART THAT IS EVER SUPPOSED TO BREAK, AND WAS POORLY DESIGNED. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY IN POSITION. THIS CAUSES IMPAIRMENT OF DRIVER LINE OF SIGHT. NISSAN CHARGES $500 FOR PART ALONE AND IS NOT DEALING WITH IT AS A SAFETY/WARRANTY ISSUE. *TR

I WAS MY DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT DROPPED ABOUT 3 INCHES AND ALMOST MADE ME DRIVE OFF THE ROAD. APPROX 8/2009 I HAD MY DRIVER SIDE VISOR REPLACED AFTER SUDDEN FAILURE TO REMAIN UPRIGHT. IT WOULD FLOP DOWN WHILE DRIVING TO BLOCK EXPECTED VIEW AND/OR STAY AT AN ANGLE THAT WOULD HAVE HIT ME RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FOREHEAD, BEING TALL, AS IS MY HUSBAND, SHOULD AN ACCIDENT CAUSE ANY FORWARD BODY MOVEMENT. NISSAN HAS REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW JUST 1 DAY AGO THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO DID THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. MY HUSBAND WAS THE PASSENGER AND HE KEPT SAYING "BOY I DON'T LIKE THIS WOULD CATCH ME RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FOREHEAD IF WE GOT HIT" IT WON'T STAY UP SO IT HAS TO ALWAYS STAY DOWN NOW WHICH RESTRICTS NIGHT TIME DRIVING. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. RECENTLY, MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT HOLD A DOWNWARD ADJUSTMENT. IT STAYS (FOR NOW) IN THE UPWARD POSITION BUT WHEN I PUT IT DOWN TO BLOCK THE SUN IT DANGLES, IS THE BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT. I HAVE TO USE ONE HAND TO HOLD IT IN THE POSITION NEEDED TO BLOCK THE SUN. IT IS EITHER ALL THE WAY UP OR ALL THE WAY DOWN, NO POSITION IN BETWEEN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR TWO REASONS. TAKING ONE HAND OFF THE STEERING WHEEL IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD AND NOT USING THE VISOR WHEN I HAVE TO USE TWO HANDS ON THE WHEEL IS BLINDING. IF A CAR, PERSON OR ANIMAL SHOULD MOVE INTO MY PATH I WOULD HAVE DIFFICULTY SEEING THEM WITHOUT THE VISOR DOWN. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DRIVING UP THE HILL HOME IS VERY DIFFICULT WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN.
