WIFE WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY WHEN DRIVER SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE AFTER DOING RESEARCH THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS NOT SURE WHY IT IS NOT A RECALL YET. I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY WHO THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO. I'M HAPPY NOTHING HAPPEN TO WIFE OR SON. GO TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE $800 TO $1500 TO FIX I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL NOT SURE IF THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE TO MAKE IT A RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SEAT INDEPENDENTLY MOVED OUT OF PLACE. THE CONTACT SPECULATED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT CORNER BRACKET MIGHT HAVE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING AND I STOP IN A RED LIGHT . A CAR HIT ME IN THE BACK AND I FEEL THE SEAT WENT DOWN FROM ONE SIDE. PL EASE THEY NEED TO CHECK THIS. AND ALSO. *TR
I HAD MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AFTER IT FAILED. IN THE FOLLOWING WEEK, THE CAR BEGAN TO SPEW SMOKE FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA. TOOK IT BACK TO SOUTH SIDE NISSAN IN VANCOUVER, BC WHO REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE SEALS (WHERE THE AXLE MEETS THE TRANSMISSION CASE). ANOTHER WEEK PASSES AND THE SAME PROBLEM REPEATS, CAR SMOKING HEAVILY FROM TRANSMISSION AREA. TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN WHO IS NOW STATING THAT THE SEALS INSIDE THE TRANSFER CASE HAVE FAILED AND THE WORK IS NOT WARRANTIED. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS IS NISSAN'S WAY TO SIDE STEP HAVING TO DO THE REPAIR A 3RD TIME AND AM IN DISBELIEF THAT THE ISSUE IS NOT DUE TO THEIR WORK. *TR
DRIVER'S SEAT CAME LOOSE AT BASE AND ROCKS BACK AND FORTH. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP HAS SAID THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR IS BROKEN. *TR
THE BRACKET THAT SUPPORTS THE FRONT SEAT BROKE WHILE I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN. IT CAUSED ME TO SWERVE, FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. EVIDENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT ASSEMBLY FRACTURED AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT LENGTH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,328.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT TILTED WHEN OCCUPIED BECAUSE THE SEAT FRAME FRACTURED. THE DEALER STATED THAT BOTH FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LINKS AND MOTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I AM ADDING TO A GROWING COMPLAINT WITH IN NISSAN MURANO OWNERS THAT MY TRANSFER CASE NOW NEEDS REPAIRS (THE SEALS ARE LEAKING) AT 92000 MILES. LUCKILY I AM NOT EXPERIENCING POWER FAILURES. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS ARE ESTIMATED AT $2000. I AM DEMANDING A RECALL AND FULL REPLACEMENT OF THE PART WITH A TEST QUALITY PART FOR MY SAFETY AN ALL THOSE DRIVING NISSAN MURANO'S. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A LOUD "POP" AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT SLUMPED BACK AND LEFT, TOWARD THE WINDOW. IT JARRED MY POSITION IN THE CAR, CAUSING MY GRIP TO CHANGE ON THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, I VEERED INTO AN ADJACENT TRAFFIC LANE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOT A VEHICLE IN THE ADJACENT LANE. I THEN BECAME PREOCCUPIED AS TO WHETHER THE SEAT WAS LOSE AND WHETHER IT WOULD TILT FURTHER, CAUSING A MORE HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ONLY A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME AND WAS THEN ABLE TO BETTER INSPECT THE SITUATION OF THE FAULTY SEAT. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THE FAULT AS A BROKEN LIFTER LINK ASSEMBLY. *TR
WHEN MY HUSBAND GOT INTO THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND STARTED THE CAR, THE SEAT BROKE. ONE OF THE RAILS IS BAD AND THE GEAR THAT MOVES THE SEAT IS STRIPPED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE SEAT HAS BROKEN AND AFTER RESEARCH, IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS STOPPED BUT IF WE WERE MOVING IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. *JS
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A SHARP OBJECT. THAT SHARP OBJECT PUNCTURED MY GAS TANK AND THE TANK BEGAN TO LEAK. I CALLED NISSAN USA REGARDING RECALL NUMBER 35779. NISSAN SAID THAT THE TANK HAD BEEN REPLACED. HOWEVER, SEARS TOLD ME THAT THE MURANO WAS STILL USING A NISSAN TANK AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. I HAVE THE PART NUMBER ON THE WORK ORDER FROM SEARS. NISSAN DENIED MY REQUEST. NISSAN CLAIM NUMBER IS [XXX]. APPROXIMATELY JUNE 10, 2014. I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FROM NISSAN SINCE I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TANK AND LABOR. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN BOWIE MD ALSO DENIED MY REQUEST. PURCHASED MY NISSAN MURANO 2006 IN SEPT 2009.TODAY, WHILE SITTING IN MALL PARKING LOT, I HEARD A LOUD SOUND AND THE DRIVER'S FRONT SEAT DROPPED TO THE LEFT. UNSURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I BEGAN TO DRIVE OFF AND MY SEAT BEGAN TO SHIFT LEFT AND RIGHT. COULD NOT STABILIZE AT ALL! VERY VERY UNSAFE DRIVE HOME!! THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY HAZARD. SEAT BRACKET BROKE ON DRIVERS SEAT. NISSAN DEALER SAID IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM. THIS IS A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE ALL OVER THE WEB. I'M CONTACTING THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER TO SEE IF THE NTSB HOLDS NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE OR TREAT THIS LIKE GM'S SAFETY ISSUES. *JS
LEFT REAR OF DRIVERS SEAT COLLAPSED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. THIS CAUSED ME TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, ALMOST HITTING MULTIPLE CHILDREN WHO WERE WALKING HOME AFTER GETTING OFF THE SCHOOL BUS. I ONLY WEIGHT 218 LBS AND MY WIFE IS BARELY 100 LBS. THIS SEAT SHOULD NOT COLLAPSE UNDER NORMAL USE AND NORMAL ADULT WEIGHTS. I AM SURE IF I HAD GOTTEN IN AN ACCIDENT THE SEAT WOULD HAVE BROKEN LOOSE AND SERIOUS INJURY WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NISSAN WANTS $1400 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. NISSAN PLACED A REJECTED INSPECTION STICKER ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE BROKEN SEAT. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SEAT IS REPAIRED. THE SUN VISOR FLIPS IN FRONT OF YOU TO BLOCK YOUR VISION AND THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO INVOLVE IN ACCIDENT? NISSAN SHOULD RECALL IT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRACKET HOLDING THE DRIVERS SEAT IN PLACE BROKE ON THE RIGHT SIDE. IT REQUIRED ME TO HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL TO STAY STRAIGHT UP TO DRIVE. I COULD FEEL ONLY ONE SIDE WAS BROKEN AND WAS CONCERNED THAT THE OTHER SIDE MIGHT BREAK. I CONTACTED NISSAN REPAIR AND THEY SAID YES THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY ON MURANOS AND STATED THE REPAIR WOULD RUN AROUND $2000. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOO STATED THEY WERE AWARE THIS HAPPENS WITH THE MURANO AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT FIXED FOR $500. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND NOT TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY OR LONG DISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ON A RE-CALL. UPDATED 4/24/2015 *JS
THE SUN VISOR DROPS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT IT WILL DROP DOWN, AND IT TAKES THE DRIVERS ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE ROAD IN ORDER TO GET THE VISOR OUT OF YOUR FIELD OF VIEW. SEEM VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS ABLE TO STEER OFF AND PUT ON MY EMERGENCY HAZARD FLASHERS. I TRIED TO START THE CAR, AND IT JUST CRANKED. I WAITED APPROX. TEN MINUTES AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE SLOWLY UNTIL THE CAR DIED OUT AGAIN. EXPERIENCED SOME HESITATION ALONG THE DRIVE HOME AND WITH NO WARNING, JUST A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING, THE CAR DIED AGAIN. *TR

UPON SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT, THE FRAME SNAPPED ON LEFT SIDE AND NOW ROCKS BACK AND FORTH. I LOVED THIS CAR UNTIL NOW. IT'S A CRYING SHAME THAT A VEHICLE WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE COULD HAVE BROKEN. EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED. EXHAUST GASES LEAK IN THROUGH VENT WHEN AC IS ON AND AIR IS COMING FROM OUTSIDE. EXTREME HEALTH HAZARD! UP TO TWO ENGINE MOUNTS ARE BROKEN. OIL LEAKS FROM BOOT. DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET IS BROKEN. ELECTRICAL ON THE DRIVERS SEAT FRIED. *TR
I NOTICED WHILE TURNING A CORNER THAT MY SEAT COMPLETELY LIFTED UP ON ONE SIDE, I BROUGHT IT TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY WELDED AND THE WELD BROKE, THEY REWELDED IT AND NOW IT IS BROKEN AGAIN, IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR SINCE IT WAS WELDED. I FEAR THAT IN THE EVENT OF A SERIOUS CRASH I COULD POSSIBLY BE EJECTED FROM THE CAR, I AM NOT HAPPY THAT THERE IS NOTHING BEING DONE BY NISSAN ABOUT THIS, THIS IS MY 3RD NISSAN AND THE FIRST WITH A SERIOUS PROBLEM I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO BUY A NEW CAR AND HAVE IT NOT BE A NISSAN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT FIXING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARING TWICE IN ONE YR, THE PINION HAS BEEN REPAIRED AS WELL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH MY DRIVERS SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY CAME DOWN SO AS TO BLOCK MY VISION OF THE ROAD AHEAD. THIS STARTLED ME AND DISTRACTED ME WHILE I FLIPPED IT BACK TO ITS NORMAL UP POSITION. HOWEVER IT DID NOT STAY UP. NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND IS ABOUT $250 TO REPLACE THE VISOR. TO THIS DAY IT WILL STAY UP FOR AWHILE BUT WILL COME DOWN ESPECIALLY IF IT IS WARM IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME BECAME FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE SEAT TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I HEARD A LOUD POP. I COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING JUST SITTING THERE. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP SIGN, AS THE TIRES HIT THE DRAINAGE RUT IN THE ROAD, I FELT LIKE I WAS BEING THROWN FROM MY SEAT. THE LOUD POP WAS THE SHEARING OF A METAL STRUCTURAL COMPONENT ON THE SEAT TRACK UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE MOVEMENT IN THE SEAT WAS SO MUCH THAT, HAD I BEEN REAR ENDED, MY HEAD WOULD HIT THE FRAME ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD OR THE WINDSHIELD ITSELF. NISSAN CHARGED ME $1700 FOR THE REPAIR, CLAIMING I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. HOWEVER, NISSAN CORPORATION REFUSES TO COVER ANY COST OF THE REPAIR. WHEN CONTACTED, THEY TELL ME THEY ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COMPONENT. *JS
DRIVER SIDE SEAT IS MOVING SIDE TO SIDE AFTER SEARCHING FOR "LOOSE DRIVER SEAT NISSAN MURANO" PAGES OF VIDEOS AND COMPLAINTS CAME UP OF THE SEAT MOUNT BREAKING. AFTER LOOKING MINE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF METAL FATIGUE. ALL THE ARTICLES SHOW THAT IT IS NOW COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. MOST PEOPLE QUOTED 1000$ FOR REPAIR. PART ALONE 750$ A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE RESORTED TO TAKING IT TO WELDING SHOPS BECAUSE OF THE COST. I DON'T WANT THIS PART TO BREAK WHILE MY WIFE IS DRIVING I CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING WHEN IT SNAPS. MY WIFE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT TILTS BACKWARDS AND ROCKS. I'VE ALSO HAD THIS OCCUR TO ME WHEN I GET IN TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE SEAT SINKS AS A MOVE IT BACK BEFORE I DRIVE. WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT, YOU CAN ACTUALLY ROCK THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT I CAN SEE WHAT APPEARS TO BE A BROKEN WELD IN THE LEFT-REAR PORTION OF THE SEAT FRAME. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT A NEW SEAT WOULD COST. HOW THIS ISN'T A SAFETY CONCERN AND NOT PART OF A RECALL IS PERPLEXING TO SAY THE LEAST. *TR

ACCORDING TO NISSAN THIS IS GETTING TO BE A PROBLEM IN OTHER VEHICLES AND A VERY EXPENSE PROBLEM TO FIX. WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY OR RECALL? *TR

SUNVISOR IS LOOSE AND DROPS DOWN IMPAIRING MY VISION WITH NO PRACTICAL MEANS OF TIGHTENING IT.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THEN HAD LOSS OF POWER. TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY AND CVT ARE DAMAGED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET, ON THE BACK LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT, BROKE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND HEARD A LOUD POP. SEAT BACK DOWN AND THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVED UP AND DOWN. AS I READ ON LINE IT HAS HAPPEN A LOT IN THE SAME AREA IT HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT COMPLETELY COLLAPSED TO THE LEFT AND BACK. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, DISCOVERED THE SEAT FRAME IS BROKEN. *TR
WAS SITTING IN CAR WAITING ON SOMEONE WHEN MY DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY BROKE ON THE LEFT BACK CORNER OF THE FRAME. IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT SUDDENLY JUST BROKE. COULD HAVE EASILY HAVE SWERVED OR WORSE. NISSAN SAID THE NEW SEAT FRAME COST OVER $1,200.00 PLUS APPROX. $300.00 FOR LABOR TO REPLACE WITH A NEW FRAME. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION IF SOMEONE IS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT BREAKS. THANKFULLY I WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY THE SEAT MADE A POPPING NOISE AND COLLAPSED TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WHICH IN TURN ALSO FORCED MY BODY TO LEAN INTO THE DOOR AND CAUSED ME TO MOMENTARILY JERK THE STEERING WHEEL BARELY AVOIDING A COLLISION. THE SEAT IS NOW BROKEN AND FORCES YOU TO SIT LEANING INTO THE DOOR AS THERE IS NO LONGER ANY SUPPORT. EVERY TIME I TURN OR IF I COME TO A QUICK STOP THE SEAT BOUNCES LIKE A RUBBER BAND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I CAN NOT IMAGINE THAT THIS IS A SAFE WAY TO DRIVE A VEHICLE AND I WOULD LIKE TO THINK IT IS NOT THE WAY THAT THE MANUFACTURER TESTED OR INTENDED THE VEHICLE TO BE OPERATED. I'VE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THE FAULTY BRACKET IS EXTREMELY COMMON IN ALL THE 2003-2008 NISSAN MURANOS. I ALSO FOUND THAT NISSAN MAKES A BRACKET THAT IS MUCH MORE STURDY AND THEY CHARGE YOU ALMOST $1000 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE KNOWINGLY ALLOWING THEIR FAULTY AND HAZARDOUS PARTS TO BE INSTALLED AT THE ASSEMBLY LINE INSTEAD OF USING THE UPGRADED BRACKET THAT IS ONE SOLID PIECE OF METAL. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID ANY FURTHER POTENTIAL HAZARDS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 8YR OLD DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND IN THE MURANO, I WENT AROUND A LONG LEFT HAND BEND GOING 45 IN A 50MPH AREA - THE BACK LEFT BRACKET UNDER MY SEAT JUST SNAPPED, WHICH IN TURN MADE ME LEAN BACK AND TO THE LEFT, OF COURSE THIS THEN EFFECTED MY STEERING AND FOR A BRIEF INSTANT PULLED ME INTO THE OPPOSING LANE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND I MANAGED TO CORRECT MY POSITION ON THE ROAD. THIS BRACKET HAS SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED ON THE MORE RECENT MURANO'S TO BE MUCH STRONGER AND BASICALLY LOOKS AND WORKS LIKE THE OTHER 3 BRACKETS (THAT DON'T SNAP). THE BRACKET THAT SNAPPED ON MY CAR IS SO THIN AND FLIMSY IN COMPARISON TO THE OTHERS IT'S A JOKE - AND SO DANGEROUS. I DID TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN DURHAM NC - BUT THEY TOLD ME A STRAIGHT UP "NO" WE ARE NOT GOING TO FIX OR DO ANY KIND OF RECALL. (I GUESS THERE HAVE TO BE MORE COMPLAINTS/INJURIES/DEATHS BEFORE A RECALL IS MADE). MANY INSTANCES OF THIS CAN ALSO BE FOUND ONLINE, BUT ALL SEEM TO RECEIVE THE SAME ANSWER FROM NISSAN - "NO" . *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SEAT BRACKET FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVER SEAT BRACKET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I WAS TURNING THE CORNER INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND MY SEAT ROCKED SIDEWAYS. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY MORNING THEY TOLD ME PART # 87450+A IS BROKEN AND CANNOT BE FIXED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I WEIGH ONLY 125 POUNDS, THIS PART MUST BE WEAK TO BEGIN WITH. IF THERE IS A RECALL BECAUSE OF SEATBELTS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL WHEN A SEAT BECOMES DETACHED FROM YOUR VEHICLE BECAUSE OF A PART MALFUNCTION AS WELL. *TR
NOTICED SEAT WAS TILTED TO LEFT AND WOBBLY. UPON ACCELERATING OR MAKING TURNS THE SEAT WOULD ACTUALLY ROTATE SLIGHTLY TOWARD THE BACK LEFT CORNER OF THE SEAT. TOOK TO DEALER IN FEB AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE REPLACED "ALOT OF THEM" AND GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $1555.79 PLUS TAX TO REPAIR. WHEN ASKED ABOUT A RECALL DUE TO POTENTIAL DANGER, TECHNICIAN ACKNOWLEDGED DANGER BUT SIMPLY SAID HIS HANDS WERE TIED BECAUSE NO RECALL HAD BEEN MADE. GAVE US NUMBER FOR NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS BUT TOLD US TO EXPECT A DENIAL, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT WE RECEIVED. REVIEW OF INTERNET COMPLAINTS AND NHTSA WEBSITE REVEALED MANY OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM AND SOME WHO FACED SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS BECAUSE OF IT. THANKFULLY, NO ONE HAS APPARENTLY BEEN HURT YET, BUT THE POTENTIAL IS CERTAINLY THERE. WANTED TO ADD OUR EXPERIENCE TO THE PUBLIC DIALOG WITH THE HOPE THAT NISSAN WILL RECONSIDER ITS POSITION.
1/14/2014 FRONT DRIVERS SEAT REAR BRACKET BROKEN - THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING BUT WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I SEE THAT YOUR AGENCY INQUIRED IN 2008 BUT THEN DROP IT BY 2009. HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS SIMILAR THING HAPPENING TO MUCH MORE THAN 14 PEOPLE ACCORDING TO YOUR REPORT. CAN YOU REOPEN THIS CASE AS IT IS A KNOWN AND CONTINUOUS PROBLEM? I CALLED MY DEALER AND THE PARTS DEPARTMENT KNEW THE PART NUMBER FOR THIS ISSUE RIGHT AWAY AND PROVIDED IT TO ME. SEAT FRAME #87450CA09A AND COST $1000 PLUS LABOR TO INSTALL. THE SERVICE MANAGERS KNEW OF THE PROBLEM, BUT SAID THEY HAVE ONLY HAD A FEW TO HIS KNOWLEDGE. HOW MANY DEALERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY MAY HAVE THE SAME RESPONSE AND THE NUMBERS GROW EXPONENTIALLY. I ALSO CALLED THE NISSAN CORP PER THE DEALER AT 800-NISSAN1 ( 800-647-7261). I SPOKE WITH[XXX]AT EXT [XXX]. HE SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE PROBLEM NOR WERE THEY AWARE OF IT! (I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE AS THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN ON THE INTERNET VIA FORUMS, YOUTUBE AND OTHER LOCATIONS.) HE INSTRUCTED ME TO GO TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEN THE DEALER COULD CALL THEM BACK TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEM TO DETERMINE WHAT ACTION IF ANY THEY WOULD DO. AFTER I INFORMED MARK I WAS DRAFTING AN EMAIL TO THE NTSB HE SAID HE WOULD ESCALATE MY CASE TO A SUPERVISOR. I TRIED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR HOWEVER THEY WERE TOO BUSY AT THE TIME. MY NISSAN CASE IS #[XXX]. MY VIN IS #[XXX]. CAN YOU ASSIST WITH GETTING SERIOUS ANSWERS TO THIS PROBLEM AND DIGGING INTO NISSAN TO ADDRESS AND ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SAFETY CONCERN? I'VE HAD A PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED MANY TIMES BY FELLOW MURANO OWNERS. AFTER DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THEN SLOWING WAY DOWN FOR TRAFFIC OR WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY THE THROTTLE BECOMES VERY UNRESPONSIVE. IT LAGS AND THEN SURGES. THIS PROBLEM WAS APPARENT DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS LAST YEAR. THIS ALSO OCCURS OCCASIONALLY IN CITY TRAFFIC, WHEN I AM SLOWING TO A STOP NEAR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. (FAIL SAFE MODE?) RECYCLING THE IGNITION FIXES THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST FOR THE SHORT TERM. I HAVE READ THAT THIS MAY BE A RESULT OF THE PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER, BUT THE NISSAN DEALER THAT SERVICES MY CAR HAS NOT INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE DETECTED ANY PROBLEM OTHER THAN THE TRANSFER CASE SEALS ARE BEGINNING TO GIVE OUT AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. *TR
WHILE TUNING SLIGHTLY AND LOOKING BACKWARDS TO BACK OUT MY DRIVEWAY, HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND FELT MY SEAT FALL BACKWARD. I BRAKE AND STOPPED MY CAR. I THEN FELT MY SEAT FALL FORWARD.I EXITED MY CAR AND NOTICED THE LEFT FRONT OF MY DRIVES SEAT SITTING ON THE FLOOD. AND THAT MY AIRBAG INDICATOR HAD COME ON. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE SEAT I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE BARS UNDER THE SEAT HAD SNAPPED. I MANAGED TO TIE SOME WIRE AROUND TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. AFTER TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICING,MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE AUTO HAS TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE ANY STATE INSPECTION CERTIFICATE COULD BE THE ISSUED. I ASKED HOW MUCH THIS WOULD COST, AND AFTER SO RESEARCH I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO QUITE A FEW OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME AUTO AND THAT THIS IS A NISSAN ONLY PART WHICH COST $1,0000 FOR THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
