MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN IMPAIRING HER VISION. THIS CAUSED HER TO SCRAPE THE PASSENGER SIDE RIMS ON THE CURB. I BELIEVE IT IS NOW OUT OF ALIGNMENT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE VISOR IT'S SELF (ALTHOUGH IT IS REALLY HEAVY) BUT WHERE IT ACTUALLY MOUNTS TO THE CEILING. WHY NISSAN WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS AND CORRECT THE ISSUE IS BEYOND ME? GUESS THEY DON'T REALLY CARE CAUSE THE ALREADY GOT YOUR MONEY. *TR
BOTH VISORS ON MY MURANO CONTINUALLY FALL DOWN BLOCKING MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND I CAN'T BELIEVE NISSAN WON'T STEP UP TO FIX THE ISSUE. WHAT'S WORSE, THEY WANT TO CHARGE YOU $400 PER VISOR TO FIX THE ISSUE. WHY WON'T THE NHTSA STEP IN TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED? *TR
I HAD JUST STOPPED MY VEHICLE AND OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR, TO EXIT. AS I BEGAN TO EXIT, THE BACK LEFT CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED. I REMOVED THE SEAT CONTROL PANEL AND OBSERVED THE METAL SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN. NOTE: THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATION, THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR OFFERED TO WELD IT FOR JUST UNDER $500.00 DOLLARS OR REPLACE THE FRAME FOR JUST OVER $1300.00 DOLLARS. ADDITIONALLY, I PURCHASED A "CERTIFICATION" WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT IT USED (2009 WITH 7900 MILES) AND THE CERTIFICATION, ALTHOUGH STILL ACTIVE, DOES NOT COVER THIS PART. IF I HAD PURCHASED A "GOLD" CERTIFICATION, IT WOULD HAVE BE COVERED. I OPTED TO GO TO A LOCAL, FULL SERVICE AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT WAS WELDED FOR $150.00. I RE-CONTACTED THE SAME LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AGAIN AND THEY OFFERED TO RESEARCH THE INCIDENT AND ATTEMPT TO HELP. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD THAT THE LOCAL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REPRESENTATIVE DENIED COVERING ANY PART OF THE REPAIR. THE NISSAN STORE THEN OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE REPLACEMENT COST CITING MY CUSTOMER LOYALTY (PURCHASING 5 CARS FROM THEM AN ANOTHER 3 FROM THEIR GROUP). *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO WAS PURCHASED USED MARCH 2013. SINCE THEN, I HAVE PUT OVER $4,000 WORTH OF REPAIRS INTO IT AND I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. THE LATEST ISSUE IS THE CAR HAVING NO POWER WHEN PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT WILL SURGE WHEN YOU FINALLY GET IT TO GO. I'VE REPLACED FUEL FILTER, CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, TRANSFER CASE JUST TO NAME A FEW OF THE REPAIRS. I AM IN THE REPAIR SHOP AT LEAST 2X/MONTH! NOW I READ WHERE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN IGNORING THE COMPLAINTS! I NOW HAVE A CAR I AM MAKING A HUGE CAR PAYMENT ON THAT I CANNOT DRIVE! PLUS I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION! I WORK IN HOSPICE AND I DRIVE TO SEE PATIENTS EVERY DAY AND NOW I HAVE NO VEHICLE!!!! SO IT IS NOW AFFECTING NOT ONLY MY PERSONAL LIFE BUT MY WORK ENVIRONMENT!!!! *JS
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH AND SUDDENLY SHE HEARD A CLICK AND THE DRIVER SEAT SANK TO THE REAR LEFT. THE CAR WENT TO THE NEXT LANE BUT LIKELY NO ONE WAS CLOSE. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO TAKE CONTROL BACK AND PUT THE CAR IN LANE. WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME, I CHECKED THE SEAT AND IT WAS BROKEN AT THE REAR LEFT. QUICK CHECK ON INTERNET AND I FOUND THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MURANO. TO MY SHOCK, THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BUT NO RECALL WAS CALLED. MY WIFE WAS VERY CLOSE TO AN ACCIDENT. IF SHE WAS DOING 55 MPH ON THE CROWDED HIGHWAY, WE WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT STORY TO TELL. DOES SOMEONE HAS TO DIE FOR A RECALL!! *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I HEARD LOUD SNAP AND THE SEAT SAGED TO THE LEFT. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT IS NOW CONSIDERABLEY LOWER THAT THE RIGHT SIDE AND YOU CAN WOBBLE THE SEAT QUITE A BIT, IT NO LONGER FEELS LIKE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE CAR VERY WELL. IT SEEMS THIS COULD BE A SERIUOS PROBLEM IN AN EMERGENCEY SITUATION! *TR
WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, I HEARD A CRACK UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AFTERWARDS THE SEAT NOW ROCKS BACK AND FORTH AND LIFTS UP WHEN MAKING TURNS. I HAVE SEARCHED ALL OVER THE WEB AND IT SEEMS THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH NISSAN DRIVERS SIDE SEATS ON SOME OF THEIR VEHICLES TO THE POINT THAT THEY ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FACT THAT NISSAN IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. I DRIVE A 2006 NISSAN MURANO AND IT ONLY HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE WITH THE SEAT BRACKET LIFTER LINK ASSEMBLY. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN MURANO FROM A REPUTABLE CAR DEALER IN DALLAS,TEXAS ON DECEMBER 5, 2012. ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 22,2013, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE ABOVE MENTIONED SPEED AND HEARD A LOUD METAL CRACKING SOUND. AFTER THE CRACKING SOUND, THE SEAT BECAME UNSTABLE AND KEPT SHIFTING BACK AND FORTH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO CAR DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE DRIVER FRONT SEAT AND INFORMED THEY WOULD ORDER A PART TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME, THEY ANCHORED THE SEAT, BUT TWO DAYS LATER, THE SEAT CAME LOOSE AGAIN AND I INQUIRED ABOUT THE PART THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER. THE SALESMAN TOLD ME IT WAS ON ORDER BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. SEVERAL DAYS LATER THE SALESMAN CONTACTED ME AND SAID HE HAD BAD NEWS, THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND WOULD HAVE TO BACK ORDER IT. I WAITED FOR A WEEK AND THEN THE SAME SALESMAN CONTACTED ME AND SAID THE SEAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THE DEFECT OR THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND MAYBE NISSAN WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. AFTER SAID CONVERSATION, I RETURNED TO MY OFFICE AND LOOKED UP THIS DEFECT AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THESE SEATS COMING LOOSE IN THE 2006 NISSAN MURANO, IAND 2007 NISSAN MURANO. FURTHER, IN THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS THAT I REVIEWED, NOT ONLY DID THE COMPLAINTS INCLUDE THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT, BUT THE PASSENGER SEAT AS WELL AT A COST OF OVER $1,000.00 PER SEAT. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT NISSAN IS OBLIGATED TO RECALL THE 2006 NISSAN MURANO AND THE 2007 NISSAN MURANO FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC AND THE OWNERS OF THESE CARS. . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
DRIVERS SIDE FRONT SEAT FRAME BROKE AND THE SEAT IS LOOSE AND SHIFTS SIDE TO SIDE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT AND NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE 2006 MURANO FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
I SAT DOWN IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, STARTED TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND HEARD A CRACKING SOUND AND FELT THE LEFT REAR OF THE SEAT DROP DOWN 1-2 INCHES. THE SEAT ROCKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHILE DRIVING. AFTER LOOKING IN THE AREA OF THE PRIOR LOUD CRACKING SOUND, I FOUND THE LEFT REAR SEAT BRACKET IS BROKEN. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET OF THIS PART FAILING IN MANY YEARS OF THE MURANO VEHICLE AND AN UPDATED STRONGER PART IS NOW AVAILABLE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBELM WITH THE MURANO AND FEEL THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL AND REPAIRED FOR NO COST TO THE OWNER. *TR
I WAS TURNING AND NOTICE THAT MY SEAT WAS MOVING. ROCKING MOTION AND IS NOT SECURE. *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN FACT THAT THE DRIVERS SEAR ON THE NISSAN MURANO (2006-2011) HAS AN ISSUE WHERE THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED AND THE SEAT FRAME SNAPS AROUND 80,000 MILES. MY SEAT BROKE WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 50 MPH DOWN THE STREET, ALMOST MAKING MY WIFE CRASH THE CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN, AND THEY OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE $1600 REPAIR. NOT FAIR TO ME AT ALL. I HAVE ESCALATED THE MATTER TO THE REGIONAL TEAM, AND THEY OFFERED NO MORE HELP AT ALL. READING OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN ISN'T ADMITTING TO THE POOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SEAT, BUT HAS SINCE CHANGED THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SEAT IN RECENT MODELS TO A BETTER CONSTRUCTION OF THE FRAME WHERE IT SHOULD NOT BREAK. THIS SAME COMPLAINT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET; SEVERAL VIDEOS HAVE BEEN POSTED IN REGARDS TO EXACT SAME CLAIMS. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR HAS SUDDENLY BROKEN AND COME DOWN TO BLOCK MY VIEW IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM 3 YEARS AGO. SEEMS THE ISSUE WAS NOT ACTUALLY FIXED. IT NOW FALLS DOWN REGULARLY AND SUDDENLY BLOCKS MY VIEW. I'M TOLD ITS $400 TO FIX IT AGAIN. WHY HASN'T IT BEEN RECALLED? THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THESE VISORS. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE VISOR DROPS EVER TIME YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT, IT CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT COLLAPSED TOWARD THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED WITH A FRACTURED SEAT BRACKET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THAT THE SEAT FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WELDED THE SEAT BRACKET BACK TO THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY COUSIN ON OUR WAY TO LUNCH WHEN I HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE I RAN OVER A PLASTIC BOTTLE. I THEN LEARNED THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT HAD BROKE. I CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 ON JANUARY 3 2013. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP ASKED FOR MY VIN# TO SEE IF I WAS UNDER WARRANTY. ONCE SHE LOCATED THE INFO AND FOUND THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED I TOLD HER THAT I WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST NISSAN. I DIDN'T STOP THERE I NOTIFIED THE BBB ALONG WITH THE ATTORNEYS GENERAL OFFICE AND THE NHTSA. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED I HAD TO HAVE 9 OTHER PEOPLE IN MY AREA WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE COME FORWARD FOR THERE TO BE AN INVESTIGATION. IT WILL BE 3 MONTHS ON THE 28TH OF MARCH THAT I'M STILL RIDING AROUND WITH A BROKEN SEAT. I DID HAVE THE SEAT WELDED BUT IT BROKE AFTER 6 DAYS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD THUMP AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FRACTURED AND MOVED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO HER HIP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT NEEDED A NEW UNDER CARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF AS PARKING LOT WITH HOT COFFEE IN MY CUP HOLDER. MY MOTHER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND MY 11 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE BACK SEAT. I HEARD A CLUNK AND MY SEAT JOLTED BACKWARD MAKING CONTROLLING MY VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT ALMSOT RESULTING IN HITTING A GAS STATION SIGN AND JUTTING OUT INTO A MAJOR ROADWAY. THE COFFEE SPILLED INTO MY LAP ADDING TO THE ALREADY SEVERE PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FROM WORK, WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND UNKNOWN WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM SO I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE. AS I EXITED MY SEAT I NOTICE THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT WAS LEANING / ROCKING TO THE LEFT SIDE AND APPARENTLY SOMETHING HAD BROKEN. I NOTIFIED NISSAN CORPORATION OFFICES WHERE I SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TO SEE IF IT WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE DIVER SIDE SEAT. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS BUT TAKE TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND HAVE IT LOOKED AT THEN DO A FOLLOW UP CALL WITH HIM AFTERWARDS. I THEN WENT ON LINE AND NOTICES THAT IT WAS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUED AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE BEFORE NISSAN REALIZE IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFTED TO THE LEFT ALMOST LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR I PULLED OVER AND THE SEAT WAS LOOSE AT THE BASE FROM THE LEFT SIDE, AT CLOSER INSPECTION THE FRAME HAD SEPARATED AND THE METAL FRAMING HAD SPLIT. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TOO OFTEN WITH THIS VEHICLE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RESPOND TO THESE MULTIPLE ISSUES AND ADDRESS. *TR

ON 12/10/12 I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 15MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING LOUD CLUNKING NOISES, BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED IT AND SAID THEY BELIEVED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE OR TRANSMISSION WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NISSAN IS SAYING THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAS NO WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT IT FAILS. WHEN ASKED WHY IT FAILED THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT NISSAN DOESN'T ALLOW THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE JUST TO REPLACE IT BUT UNFORTUNATELY AT MY COST OF $3500 WHY SHOULD I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IF THEY KNOW ITS AN ISSUE AND CAN NOT GUARANTY THAT IT WON'T FAIL AGAIN! I CAN NOT AFFORD NOT SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR NISSANS FAILURE! THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITH THE CONSUMER. *TR
UPON STARTING VEHICLE IN A.M., I HEARD A LOUD WHINE EMANATE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE SOUND WAS EXACTLY LIKE BRITTLE LEAVES FROM A TREE WERE RUBBING ON THE MOVING BELTS. I TURNED STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT AND STEERING SENSATION SEEMED SPORADIC AND IRREGULAR. I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED SERPENTINE BELT AND POWER STEERING BELT. I THOUGHT THE BELTS MAY BE GLAZED OR HAVE LOOSENED OR HAD A FOREIGN OBJECT TOUCHING THEM. ALL LOOKED OKAY BUT THE NOISE REMAINED. THAT AFTERNOON I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND MADE APPT. MY MECHANIC CHECKED VEHICLE , ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID AS HE FOUND THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE AND SAID HE WOULD ORDER A NEW UNIT AND INSTALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE SAID THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PART TO FAIL ON THESE MURANOS. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE, HOWEVER IT SET ME BACK FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. I CALLED NISSAN AT 1-800- NISSAN1. THE AGENT ON BEHALF OF NISSAN REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY, HOWEVER DID MAKE A CASE NUMBER. I STATED SOMEONE WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED ONE DAY, BUT WAS MET WITH THE OBLIGATORY "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE". I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE MURANO AND WAS TOLD NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE NUMEROUS FAILURES OF THIS POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE, AND IT IS EXTREMELY COMMON. SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL, THERE IS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO ASSIST ME. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STARTED TO FAILED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND QUOTED FOR REPLACE THE TWO FAILING FUEL SENDING UNITS $100 TO INSPECT + $700/$800 PART & LABOR. THE DRIVER'S SEAT COMES OFF THE TRACK THAT IT IS INSTALLED ON- THIS CREATES QUITE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR A DRIVER AS WHEN THEY GO AROUND A CORNER THEIR SEAT ACTUALLY MOVES. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY NISSAN HAS NOT DONE A RECALL AND HAD THE SITUATION REPLACED OR REPAIRED. I'M NOT SURE IF THE TRACK THE SEAT IS ON CRACKS OR WHAT OCCURS, BUT THE SEAT COMES OFF THE TRACK AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BACK ON- I HAVE HAD REPAIR ESTIMATES OVER $700 TO FIX THIS. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE SEAT WAS WELDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM BASICALLY TOLD ME I AM OUTTA LUCK BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS UP. I DID MY RESEARCH AND THE TRANSFER CASE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AWD VEHICLES. WHY HAS THIS NOT BE RECALLED? WHY IS NISSAN NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES?!?! I CONTACTED THE NISSAN CORPORATION AND TO NO AVAIL EITHER. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT FRAME. THE METAL ULTIMATELY BREAKS DUE TO STRESS LEAVING THE SEAT ON A TILT . IT ALSO CAUSES THE BACK PORTION OF THE SEAT TO NOT BE STABLE. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND NUMEROUS SITES ON THE INTERNET OUTLINING THIS PROBLEM. IT IS MY OPINION THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD SENT OUT. THE DEALER THAT I TOOK MY CAR TO FOR REPAIR WAS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND SAID THAT IT HAD BEEN CORRECTED IN NEW MODELS BUT NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED DUE TO EXPENSE TO NISSAN. THEY DID SUGGEST A NEW SEAT FRAME FOR $1600.

2006 NISSAN MURANO HAS SUN VISORS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES) THAT DROP DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE CAR IS MOVING. AFTER MUCH ONLINE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND PREVIOUS YEARS' MODELS AS WELL. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL FALL DOWN AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VISION. THE COST TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IS APPROXIMATELY $500. THIS IS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT ESPECIALLY SINCE THE FAILURE IS CAUSED BY A SMALL PLASTIC PIECE THAT WEARS DOWN FROM USE. TODAY , 7/23/2012 THE GAUGE SENDING WAS REPLACED AND THE FACTORY INSTALLED DEFECTIVE SENDING UNIT WAS FOUND TO SHOW SIGNS OF ELECTRICAL ARCING. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON FUEL TANK COMPONENTS IN OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THE MURANO. NISSAN REPORTS THE MURANO IS NOT UNDER ANY RECALL FOR SENDING UNIT DEFECTS. IS THERE A RISK OF GAS TANK EXPLOSION FROM THIS DEFECT? HAS NHTSA MADE ANY JUDGMENT ABOUT NISSAN SENDING UNITS. IS THE GAUGE INTRINSICALLY SAFE SO THAT THE ARCING COULD NOT CAUSE VAPOR IGNITION? IS THE SAFETY BASIS BUILT AROUND THE TANK VAPORS BEING OUTSIDE THE COMBUSTION ZONE, I.E. TOO RICH? HAVE OTHERS REPORTED SIMILAR RISK ISSUES? THANK YOU. *TR
