VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING AS IF IT IS BEING CONTROLLED BY ANOTHER POWER SOURCE. HAD BATTERY CHECKED AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED TWICE. ALSO, HAD A DIAGNOSIS TEST PERFORMED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT YIELDS NO PROBLEMS. THE BATTERY/BRAKE LIGHT MAY COME ON PRIOR TO SHUT DOWN. IF IT DOES, THREE SECONDS LATER VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DEAD. USUALLY THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION - JUST DRIVING ON A ROADWAY. ONCE SHUT DOWN, YOU CANNOT MOVE THE VEHICLE AND HAS TO BE TOWED.
MY 2099 NISSAN MURANO HAS 67,000 MILES, 2 DAYS AGO WHILE TRAVELING HOME FROM A LOCAL STORE IN THE RAIN TRYING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE CAR WENT INTO THE INTERSECTION, THANKFULLY NO OTHER CARS WERE COMING. BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUES TO GO TO THE FLOOR, CAR DOESNOT STOPS UNTIL STANDING ON THE PEDAL PUSHING IT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, HE DRAINED THE BRAKE LINES TO GET RID OF ANY AIR AND PUT IN NEW BRAKE FLUID. DID NOT HELP. HE THEN TOLD ME TO LOOK AT THE COMPLAINTS AND OPEN INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE MANY 2009 MURANO HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND ALL THE MONEY OWNERS HAVE SPENT TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH NO GOOD RESULTS. I ALSO CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE 2009 MURANO. I AM THANKFUL MY MECHANIC DID HIS HOMEWORK. BUT NOW I AM STUCK WITH A $275.00 A MONTH PAYMENT FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOBODY, EVEN THE NISSAN DEALERS ADMIT THAT THERE IS A TRUE PROBLEM OR DEFECT AND NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. WITHOUT YOU ADMITTING THERE IS A DEFECT AND REQUIRING A RECALL IS FORCING PEOPLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THESE CARS WITH FAULTY BRAKES. I JUST HOPE IT DOES NOT TAKE A DEATH OR TWO FOR THIS DEFECT TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE WITH ALL THE DOCUMENTED ISSUES BEING BASICALLY THE SAME AND YOUR INVESTIGATION BEING OPEN FOR OVER A YEAR I AM SURE MANY PEOPLE WILL BE OPENING LAW SUITS IF DEATH OR INJURY OCCUR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND THESE CAR OWNERS DESERVE MORE THEN WHAT THEY ARE RECEIVING FROM YOU AND NISSAN. TIME TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS BEFORE ANYBODY ELSE GETS HURT OR ANY DEATHS OCCUR. YOUR NOTE SAYS TO RETAIN ANY DOCUMENTATION FOR 5 YEARS, WELL IN 5 YEARS THESE CARS WILL BE14 YEARS OLD AND SEEING THAT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO START AROUND 65,000 MILES, THIS NEEDS FIX NOW!
AFTER HAVING SOFT BRAKE ISSUE, HAD CAR CHECKED AND PUT ON NEW FRONT BRAKES. NO CHANGE. WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN OF MY ABS ACTUATOR INVOLVING MASTER CYLINDER. I CARRY GRAND CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE ALL THE TIME. WAS WARNED NOT TO TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES WITH THIS ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO GET THIS ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF ON MY OWN AND HEARD ABOUT THE FEDERAL INVESTIGATION REGARDING 2009 NISSAN MURANO'S INTO THIS MATTER BY THE NHTSA. I AM A GRANDMOTHER EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
LEAK IN TRANSFER CASE. IF NOT REPAIRED WILL CAUSE CAR TO SEIZE UP AND STOP SUDDENLY. AS I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM
TRANSMITION TRANSFER CASE LEAK AND THE TRASMITION SLIP
BRAKE FAILURE WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET. BRAKE PEDAL TO FLOORBOARD WITH NO BRAKING ACTION. SLOW RECOVERY WITH GENTLE PUMPING OF BRAKE.
BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR DURING DRIVING, BECAME SPONGY, HAD TO BE PUMPED. STAYED SPONGY FOR 2-3 MILES IN ONE CASE. HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES WITH ME AND ONCE WITH THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP MECHANIC. DIAGNOSED BY NISSAN AS ACTUATOR INSIDE ABS. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE PER THE MECHANIC. COULD EASILY BE KILLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. $2400 TO FIX. NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE - SAID THEY WILL NOT HELP. 09.14.2018. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED IMMEDIATELY; NEXT THING FOR NISSAN WILL BE LAWSUITS FOR WRONGFUL DEATH!!
MURANO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR OTHER 2009 MURANOS FOR OCS SENSOR ISSUE. AIRBAG LIGHT WAS TRIGGERED (STAYS FLASHING AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED STATIONARY & IN MOTION) & CODE B1032 CAME UP AT NISSAN DEALER. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN RECALL, DESPITE IT BEING SAME TRIGGER, YEAR, MAKE & MODEL RECALLED. I REQUESTED INFO ON HOW CLOSE IN MANUFACTURING TO THE RECALLED VEHICLES MINE IS & WAS INFORMED THAT INFO ISN'T KNOWN. THAT INFO IS TRACKED SOMEWHERE & THAT'S HOW RECALLS ARE ISSUED. TO GET THIS REPAIRED WOULD COST ME OVER $2.500 (PER ESTIMATE ON RECORD). HOW DO I GET THIS INVESTIGATED SO MINE CAN BE INCLUDED AS IT IS THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, MODEL & ISSUE INVOLVED IN RECALL?
I PURCHASED THE NISSAN 11 FEB, 2016 I AM MILITARY AND WENT AWAY TO SERBIA WAS BACK FOR A FEW WEEKS AND GOT DEPLOYED AGAIN TO JORDAN. MY VEHICLE WAS CLEANED AND WAS IN A GARAGE DURING MY DEPLOYMENT. SINCE BEING BACK I HAVE DRIVEN BACK AND FORTH FROM VA TO OH FOR WORK MY BACK BREAKS STARTED TO MAKE NOISE SO I HAD THEM REPLACED WHEN THE TIRES WERE REMOVED I SEEN THE UNDER BODY FOR THE FIRST TIME. BROUGHT IT TO NISSAN WERE THEY DEEMED IT NON DRIVE ABLE AND SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE THAT ARISES WITHIN THE TIME FRAME OF HAVING MY VEHICLE IT IS EXTREMELY EXCESSIVE RUST TO THE POINT WERE IT HAS EATEN AWAY THE SUB FRAME AND THAT THE WAIKEM DEALERSHIP SOLD ME A DEATH TRAP.
NO MATTER WHAT REPAIRS I DO THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. THE BREAKING FEELS OFF. I LEAK POWER STEERING FLUID AND HAVE HAD THE PUMP CHECKED. I CONSTANTLY FEEL THE STEERING TIGHTEN UP AND EVEN RANDOMLY RELAX CAUSING IN UNSAFE STEERING CONDITIONS. STEERING CAN TIGHTEN UP AND BECOME LOOSE AGAIN WHILE IN A PARKED POSITION, A VERY SLOW MOVING SPEED AND AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER, PARK THE VEHICLE, AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES UNTIL THE PRESSURE WAS NORMAL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO WHICH I BOUGHT IN FEBRUARY 2014 FROM AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER (MORRIE'S MINNETONKA) HAD A FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSION. AFTER DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM FOR ALMOST A YEAR, WHICH INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: LOSS OF POWER, TRANSMISSION JERKING, TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, CVT COOLANT HOSE LEAKS AND FAILURES WHICH PUT MY LIFE, MY KIDS LIFE IN DANGER MULTIPLE TIMES. I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN USA WARRANTY OFFICE NUMEROUS TIMES FOR NO AVAIL AND ULTIMATELY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4,299. NISSAN REFUSED TO COVER THE COST AND COMPLETELY IGNORED MY REPEATED PLEA FOR A RESPONSE. I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THE ISSUE TO THE NHTSA HOPING YOU WILL 1) CONDUCT THE FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSIONS OF NISSAN. I LEARNT THAT THERE ARE PENDING LEGAL ISSUES THAT THE COMPANY IS DEALING WITH AS OF TODAY AND I AM HAPPY TO HAND OVER ALL MY VEHICLE INSPECTION DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO HELP THE INVESTIGATION. 2) AS I MENTIONED EARLIER THE CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND SUDDEN STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY REPEATEDLY PUT MY LIFE, MY KIDS LIFE AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK. I AM SURE OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND PURSUING THIS INVESTIGATION AND RESOLVING IN A TIMELY MANNER WILL PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM UNNECESSARY DANGER CAUSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. 3) NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND COVER OWNERS LIKE MYSELF FOR A MISTAKE THAT IN MY OPINION BIG ENOUGH TO DEMAND A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREENACRES NISSAN (561-899-4294, LOCATED AT 5353 LAKE WORTH RD, GREENACRES, FL 33463) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
TRAVELING 20 MPH ON CLEAN, DRY CONCRETE, APPROACHING A YIELD SIGN AT AN INTERSECTION. APPLIED BRAKES AND FELT ABS PULSE IN THE BRAKES. ABS PULSES STOPPED AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUED TO TRAVEL TO THE FLOOR. I ENDED UP FINALLY COMING TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE THE INTERSECTION. THE DRIVER WHO HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY MANAGED TO AVOID HITTING MY VEHICLE.

THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ALSO THE ELECTRIC POWER DOORS SOMETIMES WORK AND SOMETIMES DON'T
NISSAN MURANO 2009 WILL STOP SUDDENLY : UNDER THE LIGHT, ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER THE ABS LIGHT TURN ON. NISSAN RECALLS THE CAR FOR THIS ISSUES BUT THEIR MECHANICS ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WILL STOP SUDDENLY ON ANY ROAD TRAVELING.
FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE MADISON WI ZIMBRICK NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. ABOUT SOFT BRAKES. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN I DIDN'T KNOW IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. NUMEROUS TIMES I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL BEFORE I HAD TO STOP BECAUSE I WASN'T SURE I COULD MAKE A STOP.THE ANTILOCK BRAKES FAILED A COUPLE OF TIMES ON ICE AND ON WATER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED THE BRAKES BUT SAID THEY WERE GOOD. IN JUNE, 2018 I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID AFTER BLEEDING THE BRAKES, BUT IT STILL DIDN'T HELP. THEY SAID THE NEXT STEP WAS TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER. THEY DID THAT, BUT IT STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY THEN SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. THEY CONTACTED NISSAN THINKING THAT IT WOULD BE PAID FOR IN A RECALL. BUT NISSAN SAID THE VIN NUMBER WASN'T PART OF A RECALL. I ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN, AND THEY SAID THE CAR WAS TOO OLD AND HAD TOO MANY MILES. YET, THE PROBLEM I HAD WAS IDENTICAL TO THE 93,000 SUVS NISSAN REPORTED HAVING TO REPLACE ACTUATORS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER FELT THAT THE REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY NISSAN. I HAD TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $2400 FOR THE REPAIR AND THAT WAS PUTTING IN A USED ACTUATOR. I STRONGLY FEEL, AND THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER FEELS, THAT THIS REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER A NISSAN RECALL. THE PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED WERE IDENTICAL TO VEHICLES THAT HAD BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LITHIA NISSAN OF FRESNO, 5580 N BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710) AND WAS INFORMED THAT A FUSE HAD TO BE PULLED TO STOP THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,526.
THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR FOR NO REASON. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING AT HIGHWAY OR LOCAL ROAD SPEED. I ATTEMPT TO STOP AND MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DOES NOT STOP.

WHEN BREAKING, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES GO OUT AND I HAVE TO TAKE THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR AND THIS LAST TIME MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE MY BRAKES ESSENTIALLY WEREN'T WORKING AS REQUIRED. I SEE THERE IS IN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION AND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR YOU TO MANDATE A RECALL, A DEATH?
HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM BEING SOFT. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING US THAT IT IS A $1,900 PART (ACTUATOR) WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS ONLINE OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER 2009 MURANO'S. NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND RECALL THIS PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IMPACTS THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND THE OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED ASAP.
THE BREAK PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE RANDOMLY. TYPICALLY, I ONLY NEED TO PUSH DOWN SLIGHTLY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY STOP, BUT SOMETIMES, AFTER PUSHING DOWN THE PEDAL LIKE I NORMALLY WOULD, THE CAR DOESN'T SLOW DOWN AT ALL, AND I HAVE TO PRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND WAIT FOR IT TO STOP. IT'S VERY SCARY, AS I DON'T KNOW IF MY CAR WILL STOP WHEN I NEED IT TO. IN THE PAST, THIS HAS LASTED FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS, THEN RANDOMLY, THE BREAK IS BACK TO NORMAL, AND MY CAR STOPS ON A DIME. I'M NOT SURE WHAT CAUSES THIS, BUT I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING A GAMBLE EVERY TIME I START MY CAR TO LEAVE IN THE MORNING OR ANYTIME I NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A CITY STREET I WENT TO SLOW DOWN BY APPLYING THE BRAKES AND HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR EVERY TIME I GO TO STOP AND I HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT DURING THE WINTER SO I THOUGHT I JUST HIT SOME ICE AND THE ABS WAS KICKING IN. THERE IS NO ICE ON THE GROUND AND IT'S HAPPENING.
IN JUNE 2018, MY CAR STARTED STOPPING SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHO CHANGE MY ALTERNATOR. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I CHANGE MY BRAKES, STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER , THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR HAS ABS MODULE RECALLED AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THEY CHANGED IT. THE CAR COULD NOT DRIVE OUT OF THE PARKING LOT THUS, I RETURNED IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THEY DIAGANED TRANSMISSION ISSUES, THEY SAID THEY FIX IT. THE CAR STOP WITHIN THREE BLOCKS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I RETURNED IT BACK TO NISSAN SERVICE CENTER, NOW, THEY SAID IT'S THE ALTERNATOR. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAVE THE ALTERNATOR CHANGED LEST THAN 30 DAYS. THE CAR IS A LEMON BECAUSE OF THE ABS MODULE THAT NISSAN CANOT FIX OR UNABLE TO FIX. EVERY TIME THAT CAR IS IN MOTION, THE ABS LIGHT TURN ON AND THE CAR STOPS ABRUTLY. I HAVE TWO TEENAGERS WHO DRIVES MY CAR TO GO TO SCHOOL. IT BECOMES A HAZARD AND UNSAFE DUE TO THE RECALL OF THE ABS MODULE .
THE BRAKE PEDAL FALLS TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED RAPIDLY. THIS IS ONLY OCCASIONALLY, HOWEVER WHEN IT HAPPENED LAST. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TAPPED THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR UNIT WITH A RUBBER MALLET AND BRAKES WERE FINE.. I BELIEVE THE ABS VALVE IS DEFECTIVE BUT THE DEALER SAID THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER IS DEFECTIVE & NEEDS TO REPLACED FOR $800+. THEY ALSO SAID IF THAT DOESN'T CURE IT, THEN THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER IS ALSO DEFECTIVE AND IT WOULD COST ME $3000! SO, THEY WERE UNABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL THAT CHANGES THE BRAKE FLUID FROM DOT3 TO DOT 4.
WE WERE DRIVING ALONG 2 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING RIGHT. WE HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WAS STILL BARELY STOPPING. IT WAS LIKE A VERY SLOW BREAKING PROCESS AND CAME CLOSE TO HITTING THE ONES IN FRONT AT A STOP LIGHT. BOTH TIMES WE NOTICED IT WAS WHEN WE WERE COMING TO A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. EVENTUALLY THE BRAKES START TO WORK AGAIN. BUT WE DID NOTICE THAT WHEN THE CAR WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF AFTER THESE EVENTS, THE PEDAL WAS VERY LOOSE WHILE OFF.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LARRY MILLER NISSAN, 2400 WEST 104TH AVE, DENVER, CO 80234) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW BRAKE RESERVOIR CAP AND A DIFFERENT TYPE OF BRAKE FLUID WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WOULD BE SENT TO A THIRD PARTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
WELL LETS START WITH THE ENGINE STALLING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSE THE ENGINE LACKS THE POWER TO EVEN MOVE. THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS FLASING NO MATTER WHAT IT DOES'NT GO OFF.THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR RIGHT SIDE UNDER THE CARRIAGE. THE LEFT REAR TIRE IT LOBSIDED AND WHEN IT RAINS THE REAR OF THE CAR FEELS LIKE ITS ON ICE AND SWAYS SIDE TO SIDE IT'S AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN THE TIRE SENSOR LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF EVEN IF YOU INFLATE TO PROPER RANGE AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING HOPE THAT SOME ONE IN YOUR COMPANY DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT YOU MAY END UP IN COURT FIX THEM BEFORE SOME ONE GETS HURT....ALL THIS IN MOTION. I ASSUMED IT MUST HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF THE POTHOLE AND DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WAS WRONG. BUT WHEN I APPROACHED THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TRIED TO BRAKE; THE CAR DID NOT BREAK AND CONTINUED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTING STREET BEFORE STOPPING. THANK GOD THERE WERE NO CARS COMMING! I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN AND ACCORDING TO THEM; FIXED THE BRAKE WITH NO CHARGE TO ME. CONCLUSION: LOST OF BREAK PRESSURE AFTER HITTING A SMALL POTHOLE AND A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN BREAK REACTION AFTERWARDS. NO BREAK PRESSURE AND PEDAL HAD TO TOUCH THE CAR FLOOR IN ORDER TO BREAK WITH A DELAY REACTION.
JUST PURCHASED THIS MURANO USED. WAS SOLD TO ME 'AS-IS'. I AM A MECHANIC AND EXPECTED A FEW ISSUES TO FIX. BUT COME TO FIND OUT, THE REAR SUBFRAME IS COMPLETLY ROTTED APPART IN TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS AND UNDRIVABLE. WILL COST ME THOUSANDS TO FIX. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED TWICE, BLED FEW TIMES; GOT THE MASTER CYLINDER CHECKED; MULTIPLE TIMES BY DIFFERENT MECHANICS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG FIRST TIME. LAST TIME THEY DID A BRAKE FLUID FLUSH AND BLED. THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. MY OLD MECHANIC POINTED ME TO ONLINE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. CONTACTED NISSAN TODAY AND THEY DENIED KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THERE WILL BE MAJOR FATALITY THAT WILL HAPPEN SOON WITH OVER 120K OF THESE 2009 MODELS BEING ACTIVELY DRIVEN IN THE US.

ACTUALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THEY FOUND SO MUCH RUST AND CORROSION ON THE SUBFRAME. REAR PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME HAS A CRACK IN IT AND UNTIL THEY TAKE IT APART THEY DO NOT EVEN KNOW IF THERE IS MORE CRACKS, ETC SINCE THERE IS SO MUCH CORROSION. CAR ONLY HAS 112,000 MILES AND IN SUCH GOOD CONDITION OTHERWISE THAT IT LOOKS 4 YEARS OLD INSTEAD OF 9 YEARS OLD. NISSAN TECHNICIAN SAID IT ISN'T UNUSUAL IN THAT YEAR MURANO AS THEY MADE THE FRAME WITH THESE SMALL HOLES THROUGHOUT THE DESIGN WHICH IN THE NORTHEAST ALL THE WATER AND SALT GETS INTO AND SETTLES IN THERE WHICH THEN CORRODES AWAY AT THE FRAME. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE NOW IF YOU STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLE IT SLIGHTLY LEANING TO THE RIGHT AND THE REAR TIRE BOWING OUT. 4K TO FIX CAR WHICH IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS AND NOT WORTH IT FOR A 9 YEAR OLD CAR. THIS POOR DESIGN OF THE SUBFRAME BY NISSAN SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AS IT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE, AND I AM OUT THOUSANDS.

I LOSE ABS BREAKING WHEN I RUN OVER A POTHOLE OR SLIDE ON ICE/SNOW. IT OCCURRED TWICE THIS WEEK. ONCE I WAS DRIVING AND I WENT THROUGH A STOP SIGN B/C I COULDN'T COME TO A STOP WITH THE BRAKES PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. A SECOND OCCURRENCE TOOK PLACE FOR MY WIFE WHEN SHE HIT A POTHOLE AND IT TOOK A SIGNIFICANT STOPPING DISTANCE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONLY BY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE DOES THE ABS SYSTEM AND THEREFORE THE BREAKS WORK AGAIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER THE PAST 12 MONTHS AND WE HAVE HAD A FULL INSPECTION ON MY BRAKE LINING, ABS SYSTEM, FLUID PRESSURE, ETC AND EVERYTHING PASSES. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE?

IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM OTHER MURANO'S ARE HAVING, BUT MY CARS VIN NUMBER WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST, SO THIS WOULD BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD TURN THE FLASHING INDICATOR OFF, BUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL 2009 MURANO'S BUT REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BY ADDING IT TO THE RECALL LIST. IT IS UNIMAGINABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE THAT NISSAN WILL ALLOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO BE TURNED OFF KNOWING THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY AND RISK SEVERE INJURY, OR POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE RATHER THAN MAKE THIS A RECALL FIX. ALSO THE CAR ONLY HAS 58000 MILES ON IT.

THE CAR WAS TAKEN IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER, WHO IDENTIFIED LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM, FIRST REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER WITHOUT IMPROVEMENT, THEN DIAGNOSING ISSUES WITH ABS. CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND OTHER WEBSITES LIST THIS AS AN ITEM UNDER GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATION FOR 2009 MURANOS. THE CAR IS AT APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES. ATTACHED IS THE INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS FROM THE DEALER. SUBSEQUENT TO MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER REPLACEMENT, DEALER ASSERTED THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AND ARE NOW WORKING ON ABS.

MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, ELHART, TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME 5 HOURS OF LABOR TO REMOVE THE GAS TANK TO "DIAGNOSE" THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL GUAGE SENSORS ARE ACCESSIBLE UNDER THE REAR SEAT FOR REPLACEMENT. ALSO,THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL NISSANS - QUESTS DO HAVE A RECALL ON IT, BUT NO OTHER NISSAN, EVEN THOUGH THEY ALL USE THE SAME FAULTY GAS GUAGE. IT CAUSES PANIC TO THE DRIVER TO SEE THE "EMPTY" LIGHT ON, & THEY CALL FOR HELP, SWERVE OFF THE ROAD, WHEN THEY ARE REALLY NOT EMPTY AT ALL. ALL NISSANS SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THESE FAULTY GAS GAUGES SO THAT NISSAN DISCONTINUES USING THEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL RANDOMLY LOSE PRESSURE AND GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIREWALL WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP WHICH RESULTS IN THE VEHICLE FAILING TO STOP. IT APPEARS TO ONLY BE HAPPENING AT SPEEDS OF 45 MPH OR LESS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 30-45 DAYS NOW ARE IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT NOW OCCURRING AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 3-4 DAYS. WHEN THIS 1ST STARTED I WAS ADVISED THAT IT MAY BE DUE TO LOW BRAKE PADS AND UNDER SPEC ROTORS SO WE REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS AND BLEED THE BRAKES TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO AIR TRAPPED IN THE LINES HOWEVER THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THERE IS NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. WE ARE THE 2ND OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AND PURCHASED IT WITH ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT IN 2012 AND IT NOW HAS 70K MILES ON IT. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND DRIVES MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AROUND IN IT AND WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE USING IT AS YESTERDAY SHE COULD NOT STOP THE CAR TRYING TO TURN INTO THE YMCA PARKING LOT AND SHE COULDN'T STOP! LUCKILY THERE WAS NO-ONE IN FRONT OF HER AS SHE WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO THEM. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING OR TRADING THE CAR SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY AN ISSUE THAT MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THAT DEALERS CAN'T FIGURE OUT AND I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PASSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION ON TO SOMEONE ELSE.
