WHEN I'M ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY DRIVING AND HIT A BUMP WHILE I BREAK I LOSE MY BREAK PRESSURE. THE PEDAL GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND I CAN'T STOP. THIS IS ABOUT THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE TO PUMP MY BREAK FOR THEM TO WORK A LITTLE. BUT THEY STILL START TO GO DOWN AND THE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT FINAL STOPS COMPLETELY. THE MOST RECENT TIME MY BREAKS WENT OUT WAS FRIDAY MAY 19, 2017. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS STOPPING SO I STARTED TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BREAK. WHEN I WAS DOING THAT I HIT A BUMP AND LOST MY BREAKS. THERE WAS NO PRESSURE. THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. SINCE ITS HAPPENED BEFORE I PUMPED MY BREAKS ALMOST HITTING A TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME AND A PARKED CAR TO THE SIDE OF ME BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO AVOID HITTING ANYONE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BE FIX AND FIRST TIME WAS TOLD MY BREAKS WEREN'T BLED ENOUGH BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. I WON'T DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE BECAUSE I'M AFRAID MY BREAKS WON'T WORK AND CAUSE A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT. POSSIBLY HURT OR KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING HEART ATTACKS BECAUSE OF MY BREAKS LOSING PRESSURE AND NOT BE AFRAID OF DRIVING.
LOSS OF BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE CAUSING INCREASED EFFORT TO STOP VEHICLE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS PADS GOOD AND SYSTEM BLED OF AIR CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON 35MPH ROAD AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH DRASTICALLY REDUCED BRAKING POWER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUMPED SEVEN TO NINE TIMES PRIOR TO DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON CITY STREETS, WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND I TRIED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE FAILED TO STOP ON MORE THAN 20 OCCASIONS. AFTER PUMPING THE BREAKS AND PUSHING THE BREAK TO THE FLOOR SEVERAL TIMES, THE BREAKS WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER TO CHECK THE BREAKS IN DECEMBER OF 2016, AND THE DEALER INDICATED THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BREAKS.
THE BRAKES ARE FADING AFTER I COME TO A STOP, MEANING WHEN I STOP AND MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL WILL SLOWLY GO TO THE FLOOR. IT TAKES A GREATER DISTANCE FOR ME TO STOP.
TWO OCCASIONS ON SLICK ROADS, RELATIVELY SLOW SPEED (LESS THEN 30 MPH) BRAKES QUIT WORKING, PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. TAKES ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE MINUTES OF PUMPING BRAKES IN A PARKING LOT TO GET THEM WORKING AGAIN.
STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH BRAKE PEDAL FEELING SOFT HAD BRAKE FLUID CHECKED, AND FLUID LEVEL WAS OKAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED TO FEEL OKAY. ON MAY 4TH 2017 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE STORE AND WENT OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD RIGHT BEFORE A STOP LIGHT. WHEN SHE TRIED TO STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, ABOUT 3 MILES USING THE BACK ROADS AND THE PARK BRAKE TO STOP. THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE ACTUATOR NEED TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST OVER $3,000.00. THE WORK IS SUPPOSE TO BE DONE TODAY. I HATE TO HAVE WORK DONE IF THIS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM A RETIRED NISSAN EMPLOYEE AND HAVE OWNED MANY NISSAN VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. THANKS
THE CAR LOST BRAKE POWER AFTER HITTING A BUMP THE FIRST TIME ,AND THE SECOND TIME AFTER HITTING A POT HOLE,THE NISSAN DEALER SAID IT IS ABS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 3,000 DOLLARS ,MY CAR HAS ONLY 49,500 MILES ,THEY HAVE ME SIGN A FORM THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR 2-17-17, I BEGAN HAVE DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A FULL STOP OR AFTER COMING TO A NEAR STOP. THIS HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY AT FIRST, BUT HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE REGULAR. WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED THE OTHER DAY BEHIND A FEW CARS, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE FOR CLOSE TO A MINUTE. ALSO, OCCASIONALLY AFTER REACHING A HIGHER GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO STICK IN A LOWER GEAR.
MY BRAKES SOFTEN UP AND MY BRAKING DISTANCE INCREASES. MY VEHICLE NOW IS FAILING INSPECTION DUE TO THIS. THE ISSUE INCREASES WHEN I HIT A BUMP ON THE ROAD AND HIT THE BRAKES. THE PEDAL WILL LITERALLY REACH THE FLOOR. I HAVE CHANGED OUT ALL PADS AND ROTORS AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS OF ANY KIND ON OTHER BRAKE PARTS. THE ABS LIGHTS ARE NOT ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE QUICKLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE DRIVER HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL A SECOND TIME BEFORE THE BRAKES OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR WHEN BRAKING UNDER NORMAL DRIVING SITUATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (AUTO-NATION NISSAN IN PEMBROOK PINES, FLORIDA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS FAULTY. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS LATER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.....UPDATED 06/21/17 *BF *TR
STARTED ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO, WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE TO STOP AT RED LIGHT, IT SUDDENTLY LOSE PRESSURE, MY BRAKE PADDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR STOPPED ABOUT FEW FEET FURTHER THAN NORMAL. I STEER TO THE SIDE TO AVOID HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. THEN I DROVE AGAIN, BRAKE BACK TO NORMAL. HAPPEN 2 MORE TIME AGAIN COUPLE MONTHS LATER. THEN A MONTH AGO, IT STAYED UNTIL I GOT TO WORK ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY. BACK TO NORMAL AFTER WORK. NOW, I HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN, AND IT STAY LIKE THAT FOR 2 DAYS NOW, WON'T GO AWAY. I HAVE TO BRAKE REAL FAR AWAY TO STOP THE CAR. THE VEHICLE STOP LONGER DISTANCE, AND MY BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR.
BRAKING POWER REDUCED/LOST, EVEN WHEN FULLY APPLY BRAKES. (THIS HAS HAPPEND A FEW TIME, BUT THEY WOULD RESTORE AS FAST AS THEY WOULD OCCUR. ) THIS TIME, I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE DEALER VALIDATE BRAKE LOSE. THEY REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER AND THEY REPORTED ISSUE STILL THERE. THEY ARE NEXT LOOKING AT ABS. VEHICLE STILL AT THE DEALER.
A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES I HAD TO SLAM MINE ON TO AVOID A CRASH. MY ABS DEPLOYED AND I STOPPED WITHOUT HITTING HIM, HOWEVER MY BRAKE PEDAL NOW ENGAGES APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 2 INCHES ABOVE THE FLOOR BOARD. I STILL HAVE BRAKES BUT I DON'T THINK THE ABS WORKS. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. 04
THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STAYS ON WITH THE TIRES AT THE CORRECT PRESSURE. THE LIGHT FLASHES ABOUT 20 TIMES THEN STAY SOLID FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TIME WHETHER DRIVING OR PARKED AND ON.
I WAS DRIVING ON A RAINY DAY AND THERE WERE SOME BUMPS ON THE ROAD. AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I LIFTED MY FOOT AND PRESSED AGAIN AND IT REGAINED A LITTLE BIT OF PRESSURE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO STOP. THANKFULLY THE INTERSECTION WAS CLEAR. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND COASTED UNTIL MY VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED. MY BRAKES EVENTUALLY WENT BACK TO SEMI NORMAL, BUT THIS HAS HAPPEND A COUPLE OF TIMES SINCE THEN AS WELL. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MOST OFTEN IF THERE IS WATER ON THE ROAD OR IF I HIT A POTHOLE, OR BUMP IN THE ROAD.
MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO HAS A BRAKE PROBLEM THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE BREAK PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND NOT STOP. IF YOU PUMP THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES WILL START WORKING.THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG. I WAS ADVISED BY THEM TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALER AND THIS TIME IT HAPPENED WITH ONE OF THE SERVICE PERSONAL. THIS WAS DOCUMENTED IN THE REPORT. IT WAS CHECKED OUT AND NOTHING COULD NOT BE FOUND. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MIGHT NOT STOP IN A PANIC STOP AND RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURY OR DEATH. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS THE CAR WAS MOVING ON A SMOOTH ROAD IN THE CITY AND WAS BRAKING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT.
I'VE ENCOUNTERED THE PROBLEM OF THE BRAKE PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE, CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES. 3-4 INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHERE I NARROWLY AVOIDED THE ACCIDENT EITHER QUICKLY CHANGING THE LANE OR PRESSING THE BREAK PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES TO GAIN THE PRESSURE ALL THOSE INCIDENT SCARED ME TO MY DEATH. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AFTER BUMPING ON A POT HOLE/MAN HOLE AND THEN BRAKING ON A LOW-FRICTION SURFACE SUCH AS A MANHOLE COVER AND PEDAL WEN TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENED WITH I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY LOCAL ROADS AT SPEED BETWEEN 25-35 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWO TIMES IN THE RECENT MONTH FEB-MAR 2017. I'D REQUEST NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE .
NEW BRAKES 2016 COMPLETE. IN FEBRUARY.2017 BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SPONGEY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP. IF YOU PUSH HARD ENOUGH, IT WILL GO TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN.REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, DID NOT HELP. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN,THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HIT A PATCH OF ICE, AND THE BREAK PUDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR.
I AM WRITING REGARDING A RECENT INCIDENT WITH NISSAN THAT HAD AN ACTIVE RECALL. IT IS FOR RECALL NUMBER 08V521000 FOR THE 2009 NISSAN MURANO. I CONTACTED NISSAN BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS HAVING THIS EXACT ISSUE IN THAT THE OCS CONTROL UNIT HAD AN INTERRUPTION IN SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS AND THE AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT. I CONTACTED NISSAN LETTING THEM KNOW MY MAKE AND MODEL WAS LISTED IN THIS RECALL AND THAT I WAS HAVING THIS EXACT ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED AND THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED. I AM PREGNANT AND HAVE A TODDLER SO HAD I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT, THAT IS 3 LIVES THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AT RISK SINCE MY AIRBAGS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED. AFTER REQUESTING IT TO BE REVIEWED, NISSAN SAID THEY WOULD PAY HALF OF THE BILL, LEAVING ME TO STILL PAY $912.00 OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE AND IS THE EXACT PROBLEM AND VEHICLE MAKE & MODEL THAT IS EXPLAINED IN THE RECALL. OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE OTHER MODELS THAT THEY MISSED WHEN EVALUATING VIN NUMBERS AND OTHERS ARE MOST LIKELY HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. NISSAN IS REFUSING TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FIXING MY VEHICLE WAS EVEN FIGHTING FOR ME AND SAID THIS SHOULD NOT RANDOMLY HAPPEN AND AGREED THAT NISSAN SHOULD PAY THE FULL AMOUNT AS IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT REGULAR MAINTENANCE THAT SHOULD OCCUR. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH NISSAN. IF THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL AND YOU ARE HAVING THAT EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT MAKE & MODEL IN THE RECALL, IT SHOULD BE COVERED. AND AIRBAGS SHOULD NOT JUST STOP WORKING FOR NO REASON WITHOUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO REACH OUT TO YOU SINCE YOU REGULATE THESE THINGS. IN THE SPRING OF 2017 I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A RAINY DAY AND APPLIED THE BRAKES SUFFICIENT TO TRIGGER THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS RESULTED IN A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY, WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE LIMITED BRAKING ACTION COULD BE OBTAINED. THE ABILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE WAS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOLLOWING A HARD BRAKE APPLICATION ON LOOSE GRAVEL, SUFFICIENT TO TRIGGER THE ABS SYSTEM AGAIN. DATE LISTED FOR THIS PROBLEM IS APPROXIMATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR AND OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,425. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY BRAKES WENT OUT. THE BRAKE CALIPER OR ABS PUMP IS BAD. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE PARTS TO RPLACE ONE AND THEN REPLACE THE OTHER ESPICALLY WHEM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER MAY GO BACK OUT IN 6 MONTHS. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS THAT IT WENT BAD IN 3 TO 6 MONTHS
ABS? I HAVE LOST BRAKE PRESSURE TWICE, 6 MONTHS APART. FIRST TIME I WAS EXITING INTERSTATE 40, HIT A SMALL HOLE IN THE ROAD BEFORE THE STOP LIGHT AND MY BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE "SPONGY" BRAKE CONTINUED UNTIL I STOPPED ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE BRAKES WERE FINE. THE NEXT INSTANCE WAS WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK. AGAIN, I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE "SPONGY" BRAKE CONTINUED UNTIL I STOPPED, TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE BRAKES WERE FINE AFTER THAT. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT TIME WHEN I HAVE NO BRAKES AT ALL?
MY VEHICLE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON TOOK IT TO SHOP THEY WILL NOT FIX IT SAID THE SENSOR IN PASSENGER SEAT NEEDS REPLACED. I KNOW THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE BUT THEY TELL ME THEY ONLY RECALLED CERTAIN 2009 MURANO'S BUT LOOKING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH ALL NISSANS. SO I AM WONDERING WILL THERE BE A RECALL WITH THIS NISSAN PROBLEM.
1. DROVE VEHICLE TO TOWN TO GET GROCERIES. AT THE FIRST STOP SIGN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD TO PUMP BRAKES AFTER CAR DID NOT STOP. STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. 2. DROVE CAR BACK HOME. CALLED THE AUBERT TOW SERVICE IN INDIANOLA, IA AND THEY PICKED UP CAR ON A FLAT BED TRAILER AND DELIVERED TO AVIITT AUTOMOTIVE IN INDIANOLA, IA. 3. I AM CLOSING A COPY OF THE DEFECTIVE ISSUE ON THE NISSAN. THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT FAILED. 4. MILES ON THE VEHICLE IS 60,088. 5. THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT IS 2-16-2017 6. THE MECHANIC STATED THE ACTUATOR IN THE 2009 WAS REPLACED ON LATER MURANO. 7 THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE 2009 NISSAN MURANO
FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS OFF & ON, EVERY SIX MONTHS OR SO, MY BRAKES FOR A BRIEF PERIOD WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS DRIVING, IT WOULD HAPPEN BACKING UP, TRYING TO STOP AT A STREET LIGHT, OR TRYING TO SLOW DOWN AT AN INTERSECTION. NEVER A SPECIFIC THING, ALWAYS ALMOST TO THE POINT OF NOT STOPPING. I HAD IT CHECKED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, ONE TIME THE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID DON'T DRIVE IT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, BUT WORKED FINE WHEN IT ARRIVED THERE. THE FINAL TIME WAS THIS PAST FEBRUARY WHEN THE BRAKES STAYED TO THE FLOOR. NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPLACED A ABS ACTUATOR, AFTER REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER FIRST, WHICH DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS REPAIR WAS NOT CHEAP. IT APPEARS THE ACTUATOR MAY HAVE BEEN THE CURE. AFTER ALL OF THIS TIME I STILL DO NOT FEEL COMPLETELY SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN PROBLEM THAT PERSISTED FOR SO LONG. DURING THE WINTER I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 15MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP ON AN ICY ROAD. SINCE THEN, MY BRAKE PEDAL IS COMPLETELY SOFT AND GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER FOR ME TO SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A STOP. I HAVE HAD MY BREAK PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED, AS WELL AS A NEW MASTER CYLINDER INSTALLED. NOTHING HAS SOLVED MY ISSUE OF HAVING A SOFT PEDAL. THIS IS REALLY SCARY ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE THREE CHILDREN TO DRIVE AROUND. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO NISSAN CORPORATE WHO TOLD ME THAT UNLESS THERE WAS A RECALL, THEY WILL NOT HELP ME. I ASKED THEM TO SEND ME A NOTICE IN WRITING STATING THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP FOR MY RECORDS. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE FAIL TO STOP. NISSAN DEALER DIAGNOSED A FAILED ABS SYSTEM. NEW MODEL MURANOS HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SAME THING BUT NOT THE 2009.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AFTER STOP. WHEN PRESS THE GAS PETAL CAR WILL JERK AND NOT SPEED. SOMETIME RESTARTING WILL WORK. IT HAPPENED IN FREEWAY DURING IDLE TRAFFIC.
WHILE APPLYING MY BRAKES TO STOP I HIT A BUMP AND I COULDN'T BRAKE. MY BRAKES LOST ALL PRESSURE, THE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE AT THE STOP SIGN. I RAN THE STOP SIGN AND SLOWLY I GOT MY VEHICLE TO STOP BY LOWERING MY GEAR. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY BREAK PADS AND ROTORS LAST YEAR AND MY FLUIDS HAD BEEN CHECKED JUST A MONTH AGO. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY CHECKED MY BRAKES AND THE FLUID WHICH WERE ALL FINE. THE SHOP WAS ABLE TO MAKE THIS CONDITION HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES OVER AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THE ABS VALVE WAS STUCK OPEN WHEN HITTING A BUMP AND THUS NO BRAKE PRESSURE. I LOOKED ON THE RECALL WEBSITE AND NOTICED THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO THE 2014 AND 2015 MODELS AND THIS HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR THESE VEHICLES. ALSO, I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A BLOG OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2009 VEHICLE FROM OTHER OWNERS. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED JUST LIKE THE OTHER YEARS. VERY SCARY TO HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AND KNOW THAT IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN.

BRAKE PADS, BRAKE FLUID, AND BRAKE LINES HAVE BEEN CHECKED WITH NO APPARENT ISSUES. NUMEROUS OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE MAKE/MODEL ARE REPORTING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH NO APPARENT RESOLUTION. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE THIS PROBLEM PRESENTS WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. MY FRONT BRAKES ARE SQUEAKY. EVEN AFTER HAVING MY BRAKES REGULARLY SERVICED WITH PADS AND ROTORS THE BRAKES STILL SQUEAK. THE FASTER I DRIVE THE LOUDER THE NOISE GETS. THE SQUEAK IN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE IS ALSO PRESENT WHEN DRIVING IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE CAR SERVICED ON WEDNESDAY. 2009 NISSAN MURANO LOSES BRAKE PRESSURE AFTER HITTING BUMPS WHILE BRAKING. BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT AND DRIVER IS REQUIRED TO PUSH BRAKE PEDAL 3/4 OF PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKES ENACT. WE'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE 05/2015 AND THIS IS THE 4TH RIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. VEHICLE IS IN THIS CONDITION PRESENTLY. ONCE STOPPED THE VEHICLE STAYS PUT. THE SYMPTOM CORRECTS ITSELF BETWEEN A FEW HOURS TO 1-2 DAYS. I'VE HAD A LOCAL DEALER LOOK AT VEHICLE BUT SYMPTOM WAS GONE ON ARRIVAL. AT THEIR SUGGESTION, THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES. I EXPERIENCED LOSS OF BREAK PRESSURE WHEN GOING DOWN A DIRT ROAD SO I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM AND PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED. THE NEXT DAY, DRIVING DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD I LOST BREAK PRESSURE AGAIN AND HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED. ONE MONTH AFTER THAT I LOST BREAK PRESSURE WHILE DRIVING IN THE POURING RAIN AND HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED. NOW I AM EXPERIENCING A SQUEAKING NOISE IN MY BREAKS WHILE MY CAR IS IN REVERSE. I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR BREAKS AND ROTORS AND HAVE HAD THEM INSPECTED BY THREE DIFFERENT MECHANICS WHO HAVE ALL SAID THAT MY BREAKS ARE FINE AND IT MUST BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.
WE HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS NOW WHERE THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED ON OUR 2009 MURANO. AFTER HITTING A POT HOLE WHILE ENTERING AN INTERSECTION, I TRIED TO TURN RIGHT. I WENT TO HIT MY BRAKES IN THE TURN BUT FOUND THEY WERE NOT WORKING. I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITH NO CHANGE. I THEN REPEATEDLY PUMPED THE BREAKS TO GET SOME KIND OF TRACTION AND WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. BECAUSE OF MY LOCATION IN THE INTERSECTION, I THEN HAD TO CONTINUE TO CLEAR THE AREA. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO BE "SOFT" UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE BRAKE SYSTEM APPEARED TO RESET AND I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WITH BRAKES FAILING WAS SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. SHE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, AND THEN LOST ALL BRAKING. HER SPEED WAS MINIMAL AND SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS UNTIL TODAY. WITHIN A PERIOD OF LESS THAN A MONTH, ALL 4 OF THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS ON ALL 4 DOORS OF MY NISSAN MURANO S HAVE FAILED. INITIALLY, THE PROBLEM WAS ISOLATED TO JUST 1 OR 2 DOORS, AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD VARY AS TO WHETHER THE DOOR WOULD LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN EITHER PRESSING THE REMOTE ENTRY KEY FOB OR USING THE INTERIOR DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON. NOW, NO DOOR WILL LOCK/UNLOCK AT ALL. THEY CAN ONLY BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED BY PRESSING THE ROCKER SWITCH AT THE DOOR. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I AM UNABLE TO SECURELY LOCK ALL 4 DOORS. WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE, AND MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS, UPON RETURNING, I AM UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS WITHOUT FIRST USING THE KEY IN THE DRIVERS DOOR (THE ONLY 1 WITH A KEY LOCK), AND THEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, AND MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE OTHER 3 DOORS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WITH SMALL CHILDREN, AS I CAN NOT LEAVE THEM IN THE PARKING LOT BY THEMSELVES FOR ME TO ENTER THE VEHICLE TO GET THEIR DOOR UNLOCKED. *TR

I HAD TO STOP QUICKLY WHEN SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND THEN THE NEXT TIME I WENT TO PUT ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN A FEW HUNDRED YARDS LATER, THEY DIDN'T WORK AT ALL AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO LET THE PEDAL COME UP AND THEN PUSH IT BACK DOWN SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT TO REGAIN PRESSURE. THE OTHER TIME WAS AFTER PULLING OUT FROM A STOP, THERE WAS SOME ICE UNDER ONE OR MORE WHEEL AND THERE WAS SOME SLIPPAGE AS I STARTED FORWARD. MY NEXT NEED TO STOP ABOUT A QUARTER MILE DOWN THE ROAD, I WAS UNABLE TO AND THE PEDAL AGAIN WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO PUMP THE PEDAL MANY TIMES TO GET PRESSURE BACK AND FOR THE BRAKES TO WORK.
VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL VERY SOFT, SPONGY, AND SQUISHY AT ALL TIMES (EVEN WITH NEW BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND PROPERLY BLEED LINES). HAVE LOST BRAKES AT ONE POINT COMPLETELY, BRAKE PEDAL TOUCHED GROUND. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN ON TOTALLY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, MY ABS ENGAGED, BUT THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT RETURN. THE TOP 10% OF THE PEDAL GIVES ME 10% BRAKING POWER, THE MIDDLE 80% OF THE PEDAL TRAVEL DOES NOTHING, AND ONLY THE BOTTOM 10% OF THE PEDAL, JUST BEFORE IT TOUCHES THE FLOOR, ACTUALLY PROVIDES ANY REAL BRAKING. AS A RESULT, THE REACTION TIME AND STOPPING DISTANCE IS TERRIBLE. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT SOME POINT. NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING, BUT NEEDS TO ACT AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR 2009 MURANO IMMEDIATELY.
WAS AT LOWES WITH MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND THE STEERING LOCK INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION OF THE STEERING LOCK BOX. WEATHER WAS BAD AND A GENTLEMAN TRIED ASSISTING ME BUT TO NO AVAIL. AFTER LOOKING AT THE INDICATOR LIGHTS HE INFORMED ME HE HAD HEARD OF THIS ISSUE AND THE PROBLEM WAS IN FACT DUE TO A FAULTY STEERING LOCK BOX. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY TEMPORARY HOME AND HERE IT SITS. MY HOME FLOODED WITH 7' OF WATER MID AUGUST AND IS STILL UNINHABITABLE. I'M A GRANDMOTHER WITH LIMITED FUNDS AND REALLY CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND THE LARGE SUM OF MONEY REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. DURING MY RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT NISSAN KNOWING THIS ISSUE HAS NOW IMITED THE WARRANTY TIME ON THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. UNLESS IT IS FIXED, THOUGH, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT EVEN SLOWING THE CAR DOWN UNTIL THE LAST SECOND, AND YOU ARE NEVER SURE IT IS GOING TO STOP AT ALL!
I OWN A NISSAN MURANO 2009, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR. THE CHARGER WARNING AND BRAKE WARNING LAMPS WILL IMMEDIATELY COME ON AND THE BATTER WILL BEGIN TO DISCHARGE. AFTER A SHORT TIME, THE ENGINE WILL GO INTO A "FALL SAFE" CONDITION WHICH WILL LIMIT VEHICLE SPEED. THE ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. THE ONLY WAY TO MOVE THE VEHICLE IS TO HAVE IT TOWED.
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AFTER HITTING A BUMP. NOVEMBER 2016 I WAS GOING INTO A PARKING LOT, AS I WAS COMING OFF OF THE PAVEMENT GOING ONTO THE GRAVEL MY ABS ENGAGED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY FELT THAT WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF, ALL SYSTEMS SHOULD RESET. WHEN I DID THAT, SYSTEMS DID RESET AND MY BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES SINCE, THE LAST TIME WAS IN OCTOBER 2017 AND THE SYSTEM OR ABS AND THE SOFT BRAKE ISSUES HAS NOT RESET. TO THIS POINT, I HAVE ALWAYS HAD SOME BRAKES, THOUGH THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR EACH TIME USED. MY WIFE, AND DAUGHTER, WHEN THEY DRIVE THE CAR, FEEL THERE ARE NO BRAKES. I GUESS I HAVE GOTTEN SOMEWHAT USED TO THEM. I AM CONVINCED THAT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, BUT I AM READING THAT IT MAY COST BETWEEN $1500, AND $2400 TO REPAIR. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED, ANY TIME THE ABS SYSTEM IS CALLED UPON. IT IS CLEAR THERE IS A BYPASS VALVE THAT IS NOT RETURNING TO ITS NORMAL POSITION. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT, WITH OVER 30 COMPLAINTS TO THE NTSA, NO RESEARCH HAS BEEN DONE ON THIS ISSUE BY NISSAN. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS AROUND $1500, POSSIBLY THE MOST EXPENSIVE SINGLE BRAKE PART IN EXISTENCE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, AFTER MY CAR HIT A RACCOON THE BREAK PEDAL WENT SOFT AND LOST PRESSURE TOTALLY AND THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED AFTER A FEW HUNDRED METERS BY USING THE PARKING BREAK. THE BREAK PEDAL WAS PRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND NO PRESSURE AT ALL. I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT COLLISION WITH THE BREAK SUDDEN OUT OF CONTROL, BUT REALLY IN A PANIC WITH EXTREME CONCERNS OF MY DRIVING SAFETY. I TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A WHILE AND TURN BACK ON, THE BREAK RETURNED TO NORMAL AND I COULD DRIVE MY CAR HOME SLOWLY. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY AND THE ISSUE SEEMS WELL KNOWN BY THE DEALER BUT THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO TO SOLVE IT. THIS BREAK ISSUE HAPPENED FEW TIMES BEFORE WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP. I FOUND THIS IS MOST LIKELY THE SAME ABS MOTOR MODULATOR ISSUE OTHERS HAVE CLAIMED, NISSAN SHOULD SET A RECALL TO FIX THIS ASAP TO AVOID TRAGEDIES ON THE ROAD.
