MY HUSBAND WAS IN DALLAS GETTING HIS PASSPORT AND SOME MAN RAN A STOP SIGN HIT A POLICE OFFICE TWO OTHER CARS AND MY CAR THAT MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY TO HELP AND MY FATHER IN LAW WHO WAS IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT WAS INJURED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OSC SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF ON MY CAR-I TOOK THE CAR BACK 4 TIMES TO THE DEALER AND IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO HAD 5 FAILURES. ITS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. THE FIRST ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THAT DEAD END TO ANOTHER HIGHWAY. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OTHER HIGHWAY. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. THE BRAKES USUALLY GO BACK TO NORMAL AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE AND TURNING IT BACK ON AGAIN. ON 3/17/16, THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE BRAKES DID NOT GO BACK TO NORMAL. I WAS ABLE TO BRING IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY TEST DROVE IT AND THEY NOW UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE BRAKES. ON THE FIRST 4 ISSUES, WE BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. THE BRAKING FAILURES HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY NISSAN. I'VE READ MANY BLOGS ON THIS ISSUE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FOR IT TO BECOME A RECALL, DO PEOPLE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIVES?
ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN ON A CITY STREET FOR A RIGHT TURN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT RESPONSE. AS I WAS NOT GOING TOO FAST TO BEGIN WITH, I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO MAKE THE TURN SAFELY. I CREPT TO THE NEAREST TIRE CENTER AND THE ABS SYSTEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE ABS ACTUATOR.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT AND THE MAIN AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE BOTH ON OUR MURANO. WE ARE SEEING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AS IN THE RECALL FOR CERTAIN 2009 NISSAN MURANOS AND OUR MURANO IS BARELY OUTSIDE THE WINDOW OF RECALLED MURANOS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T HELP US SINCE IT WAS BUILT BARELY OUTSIDE THE DATES OF THE RECALLED MURANOS EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. PLUS NISSAN KEEPS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH DIFFERENT YEARS OF MURANOS, SO IT IS PRETTY OBVIOUS THEY HAVE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUMPED SEVERAL TIMES AND FELT LIKE A SPONGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ABS ACCUMULATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE BATTERY CHARGING WARNING SENSOR INDICATOR SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LATER SHUT OFF. IN ADDITION, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SENSOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ALTHOUGH THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRES WAS AS RECOMMENDED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
AT APPROXIMATELY 99,000 MILES I ENCOUNTERED A LIMITED NUMBER OF INSTANCES WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL LOST PRESSURE, BECOMING VERY "SOFT", WHILE DRIVING. THE SITUATION BECAME DANGEROUS AS THE BRAKES WERE LESS RESPONSIVE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DISPLACE SEVERAL INCHES AND THE CAR WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO STOP. AFTER PARKING FOR A PERIOD, BRAKE OPERATION APPEARED TO RETURN TO NORMAL. I EVENTUALLY SUSPECTED THE ISSUE WAS TRIGGERED BY THE ABS. I TOOK TO THE DEALER, DESCRIBED THE ISSUE AND REQUESTED A BRAKE DIAGNOSTIC WHICH CONFIRMED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE. NOW FACING A REPAIR OF ~$2400 WHICH CAN'T BE AVOIDED AS HAVING THE ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD. MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT COLLEGE AND LIKELY WOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCED TO HANDLE WHAT I EXPERIENCED. WHILE AT JUST OVER 100,000 MILES, THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED VERY WELL AND THIS TYPE OF SYSTEM DEFECT SEEMS UNUSUAL AND DANGEROUS.
VEHICLE WITH 70,000 MILES HAS HEAD GASKET LEAK. CAR HAS ONLY BEEN MAINTAINED BY DEALER FOR SERVICING. AFTER RESEARCHING MANY NISSAN OWNERS HAS HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. SHOULD THESE VEHICLES BE RECALLED OR SHOULD CONSUMERS BE GAUGED FOR $40,000 FOR A VEHICLE THAT WILL ONLY LAST 70,000 MILES BEFORE HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS. ALSO I CONTINUOUSLY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM.
WHEN I WAS COMING OFF OF AN EXPRESSWAY AND CAME TO A STOP, I HAD TO PRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT HAPPENED TO ME TWICE. UPON RESTARTING MY CAR, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS A FAULT IN THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS WAS IMPEDING NORMAL DRIVING OPERATIONS...THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME $2600 TO REPAIR IT, ALTHOUGH THIS IS A FAULTY CONDITION IN THE VEHICLES MANUFACTURING (SOMETHING I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR). I'VE HAD TO DISABLE THE ABS CONTROLLER IN THE MEANTIME.
1-10-2016 BETWEEN 7:00 AND 7:30 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME, CAR IN MOTION ON A BUSY CITY STREET. IT WAS DARK OUTSIDE AND SNOWING, THUS SLICK ROADS. BRAKE AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. BARELY MOVED AND VERY QUICKLY ALL ELECTRRICAL COMPONENTS WENT DEAD. STUCK IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT AN INTERSECTION, I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS IN FEAR OF BEING REAR ENDED. MY HAZARDS FAIRLY QUICKLY GOT DIMMER AND DIMMER. CALLED 911 AND ASKED TO HAVE A PATROL CAR PARK BEHIND ME WITH LIGHTS ON UNTIL MY HUSBAND COULD GET THERE TO TRY TO JUMP ME. CAR WOULD NOT SRART. WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ON DOING THERE OWN THING. COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF. EVENTUALLY THEY TOO DIED. COULD NOT PULL OVER DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND CAR MOVED TO SLOW WHEN ISSUE BEGAN. PATROL CAR DID COME AND PARKED BEHIND ME WITH LIGHTS ON IN ORDER TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. HUSBAND CAME AND WAS ABLE TO JUMP START VEHICLE. ISSUE ALSO HAPPENED WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT, CAR IN MOTION. HUSBAND JUMP STARTED CAR. ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TAKING CHILD TO SCHOOL, PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND ACCELERATED AND CAR THEN GOT POWER BACK WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET. NISSAN TECH SAID NISSAN CONSIDERS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE. I WAS SCARED OB BEING KILLED. ALSO, MY PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON STATING IT IS OFF. HAS BEEN ON SINCE ISSUE BEGAN. TAKING TO SHOP TO BE REPAIRED TODAY, BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS THE ALTERNATOR BUT NOT 100% SURE. WILL KEEP ALL RECEIPTS AND OTHER RECORDS OBTAINED.
THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINT IS FOCUSED ON MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO. BEGINNING IN SPRING 2016 I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF BREAK COMPROMISE INCLUDING ONE THAT CAUSED ME TO GO THROUGH A RED LIGHT, THANKFULLY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. BRAKE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON FREEWAY DRIVING AND CITY DRIVING. THESE BRAKE EPISODES OCCUR WITH NO WARNING AND RESULT WITH THE BREAK PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO THREE DEALERS. ALL THREE SERVICE CENTERS SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS CONDITION. ONE CLAIMED THAT THIS TYPE OF FAILURE WAS IMPOSSIBLE. I RECENTLY READ THERE ARE OTHERS TO EXPERIENCE THIS BRAKE PROBLEM. I WISH TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THEIRS. I HOPE THAT BY BRING TO LIGHT THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT, THAT YOU WILL FORCE NISSAN TO STEP UP WITH A NO COST REMEDIATION.
WHEN DRIVING THE 2009 NISSAN MURANO THE BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO LOSE ANY FIRMNESS AND IT WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR; THE BRAKES BARELY WORKED ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET HOME. MY HUSBAND TROUBLESHOT THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS, AIR IN THE SYSTEM, OR WORN BRAKE PADS. HE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT IF THE ABS FUSE IS REMOVED THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES BACK TO NORMAL WHILE DRIVING, BUT THERE WILL BE NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ONCE THE FUSE IS REMOVED. WHEN THE FUSE WAS REPLACED THE PEDAL KEPT THE FIRMNESS; THIS IS NOT A MECHANICAL ISSUE, BUT MORE LIKE AN ELECTRONIC PROBLEM WITH THE ABS.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROUTE, AT 9:10PM, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING WITHOUT MY FOOT. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK PEDAL. I STEPPED VERY HARD AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN. WHEN I LOOSEN THE PEDAL, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING. ALL THE SUDDEN I HEARD POPPING SOUND AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I THINK THAT WAS THE SOUND OF THE GAS PEDAL RELEASED. AT 9:15PM, THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK AGAIN. THE ACCELERATION WAS FULL AND REACHED TO THE 80 MILES VERY QUICKLY. I STEPPED THE BREAK PEDAL SLOWLY BUT VERY HARD THEN STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I TRIED TO PULL MY CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT COULD NOT STOP. SO, I PUT THE GEAR INTO "N". I HARD THE GAS WAS STILL GOING. AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL ONE MORE TIME, THE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, SO I COULD STOP. AS THE AREA DO NOT HAVE GOOD PHONE CONNECTIONS ANY WAY, I DROVE THE CAR AGAIN, SLOWLY, TO THE DEALER AND LEFT THE CAR THERE. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IF THE DRIVER WAS MY WIFE, SHE PROBABLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. IF THE ROAD WAS ICY, IF DEER CAME OUT, IF THAT WAS IN CITY AREA OR IN OUR DRIVE WAY, I HAD VERY BAD ACCIDENT. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST. TIRE PRESSURE RAMP IT ALWAYS ON, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT UNTIL THIS. I WOULD NEVER WANT TO DRIVE THE SAME CAR EVEN AFTER A REPAIR. IT WAS AWFUL AND CAN NOT TRUST ANYMORE.
ON 2 OCCASIONS THE BREAK PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE APPLYING THE BREAKS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC WHILE ON THE CITY STREET. I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BREAKS AND STOP THE VEHICLE BUT THE BREAKING ABILITY WAS GREATLY REDUCED.
BRAKES FAILED....DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH ON HWY 90 IN PASS CHRISTIAN MS. COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT AND APPLIED BRAKES AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO AROUND 30 MPH AND THEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT NO RESPOSE FROM THE BRAKES. WE RAN INTO A CAR STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT.
TAMARA RECALL THE STEERING TILT AND TELESCOPIC MOTORS BOTH DIED AT THE SAME TIME AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE 70000 MILES. VEHICLE WAS JUST TURNED ON.
I WAS RUNNING 40 MPH WHEN I SAW THE "BRAKE" AND "BATTERY" INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEAR. AFTER LESS THAN 1/2 MILE AND WHILE TURNING RIGHT TO ENTER THE FREEWAY ENTRANCE, THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING DESPITE PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I TRIED TURNING ON THE IGNITION AGAIN BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS BUT EVEN THEY STOPPED WORKING AFTER A FEW MINUTES. I WAS SITUATED RIGHT WHERE CARS WOULD TURN TO GET TO THE FREEWAY ENTRANCE. IT WAS OBVIOUSLY AN UNSAFE PLACE FOR MY CAR TO GET STALLED SINCE CARS ARE TURNING RIGHT AND ACCELERATING TO GO UP AND TO THE RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE 680 SOUTH FREEWAY (AUTOMALL ENTRANCE). IT WAS ACTUALLY A GOOD THING THAT THERE WAS SOME OTHER CAR THAT BROKE DOWN CLOSE TO MY LOCATION. APPARENTLY SOME OTHER DRIVER HAD CALLED THE FREMONT POLICE AND, LUCKILY, 2 POLICE CARS WERE DEPLOYED SO 1 ENDED UP STAYING BEHIND MY CAR TO KINDA BLOCK THE OTHER CARS FROM HITTING MINE. THE POLICE WAITED UNTIL MY HUSBAND COULD GET TO ME AND JUMPSTART MY CAR. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRIES AND AFTER MY CAR STARTED WE TOOK IT TO PREMIER NISSAN AUTOMALL, GOT A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED, & DROVE TO WORK. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE RUNNING AT 60MPH ON THE 680 S FREEWAY, THE "BRAKE" & "BATTERY" INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. I WAS PRAYING TO GET TO MY DESTINATION AS I WAS SO SCARED THAT MY CAR WOULD STOP AGAIN AND IT WAS MORE DANGEROUS THIS TIME AROUND AS I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. GOOD THING I GOT TO WORK BUT, AFTER READING OTHER MURANO 09 OWNERS' REPORTS ON FAILING ALTERNATORS, I KNEW THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY THE NHTSA. THE PREMIER NISSAN WOULD NOT EVEN CHECK IF THE NEW BATTERY THAT WE BOUGHT WAS CHARGING PROPERLY. THEY SAID THERE'S A DIFFERENT FEE FOR THAT. I THINK THIS ALTERNATOR ISSUE IS NOT JUST FOR THE EARLIER MURANOS BUT ALSO ON THE NEWER MODELS, INLUDING THE 2009 MODEL.
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG "OFF" LIGHT IS ON. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS BLINKING ON AND OFF. DEALER SAYS THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION HAS FAILED. NISSAN WILL NOT HELP AS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY! THE CAR HAD 30748 MILES ON IT ON 11/11/15 WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THIS HAPPENS MOVING OR NOT AND WITH PASSENGER OR NOT.
BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED DURING MODERATE SUSPENSION TRAVEL (UP/DOWN) FROM BUMPS IN ROADWAY - SIMILAR TO TRAVELLING ACROSS SMALL SPEED BUMP. MUST PUMP BRAKE REPEATEDLY TO STOP VEHICLE. INCIDENT OCCURRED AT MOST ANY SPEED INCLUDING HIGHWAY TRAVEL. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE BUT DID REPLACE THE MASTER BRAKE ASSEMBLY HOWEVER IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FAILED TO MOVE AFTER SHIFTING INTO GEAR. PROBLEM TRACED TO BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. LOCAL MECHANIC COMPLETED THE REPAIR WHICH HAS RESOLVED BOTH PROBLEMS - BRAKE ISSUES HAVE NOT OCCURRED SINCE THIS REPAIR.
THE PRESSURE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES GOES OUT AND REQUIRES YOU TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, NOT REQUIRING DRIVER ENOUGH TIME TO BRAKE PROPERLY AND CAN CREATE A TRAGEDY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS BRAKING AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN I HIT A POT HOLE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THEM UP ENOUGH TO GET HOME. I DON'T HAVE ANY LEAKS AT CYLINDERS AND MY PADS ARE NEW AND MY FLUID LEVEL IS OK I AM AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC AND UNDERSTAND HOW ABS SYSTEMS WORK THE NEXT DAY THE BRAKES WERE STILL LOOSING PRESSURE SO I TOOK A RUBBER MALLET AND TAPPED ON THE ABS VALVE WHILE MY FRIEND APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY WENT AWAY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE ABS ANTI SKID VALVE IS INTERNALLY BYPASSING FLUID I CALLED MY NISSAN SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE ABS ANTI SKID MODULE
CAR WILL NOT START AND DOES NOT TURN OVER. TRIED BATTERY, DIFFERENT FOB, NEW FOB BATTERIES, ROLLING VEHICLE, TRIES STARTING IN NEUTRAL, ETC. NO RESULTS. FEELS LIKE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT IN LOCKED POSITION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE DEALER DECIDED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER A SECOND TIME, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN GOING UPHILL. AFTER 5 SECONDS MAYBE IT KICKS IN AND BEGINS ACCELERATING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I FEEL LIKE IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

WHILE DRIVING THE AUTOMOBILE MADE A LOW BUZZING SOUND AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED MOVING. ALL POWER WAS LOST. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER THE AUTOMOBILE, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND RADIO STILL ON AND WORKING. I ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR ONCE AND THE AUTO ACCELERATED AND ALL POWER WAS LOST AGAIN, THIS TIME COMPLETELY. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY REGULAR NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. DIAGNOSIS: BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND TO WORK THE NEXT DAY. WHILE ON MY WAY FROM WORK, THE EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO AUTONATION NISSAN AGAIN AND AS I TYPE THIS COMPLAINT THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO ARRIVE AT THE PROPER DIAGNOSIS. I AM ALL OF A SUDDEN IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE, HAD I BEEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY (I-95, SR-826, FL TURNPIKE, ETC. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED WITH THESE TWO SUDDEN STOPS IF I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 10/17/15 AND THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE THAT IS $ 3568 PLUS LABOR FOR REPAIR, I COMPLAINED TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND ALL THEY COULD DO IS GIVE A 50% DISCOUNT FOR THE REPAIR. I FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD REPAIR THIS AS IT IS A GREAT SAFETY FLAW OF THE VEHICLE, MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT AS NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL FUNCTION IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT.

TAKATA RECALL, AIRBAG ON PASSAGER SIDE INDCATOR LIGHT ON, TIRE LIGHT AND TIRE SLOW LEAK
HIT A DEER GOING 35 MPH AND DEPLOYED BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS. I WAS THE PASSENGER WHEN MY AIRBAG WENT OFF IT HIT MY FACE AND FRACTURED MY MAXILLA, BROKE OFF ONE TOOTH AND MADE ANOTHER LOOSE ENOUGH IT HAD TO BE PULLED OUT ALSO. SPLIT UPPER AND LOWER LIP BOTH NEEDING STITCHES. DO TO THE DAMAGE SUSTAINED AND THE AIRBAGS BEING DEPLOYED MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOUND THE CAR UNREPAIRABLE AND A TOTAL LOSS.

THEY DIAGNOSED THE ABS PUMP AS DEFECTIVE. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY AND RELIABILITY ISSUE. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE WITH 67000 MILES.

THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE LOCK DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE LOCK BUTTONS (EITHER DRIVER SIDE OR PASSENGER), KEY FOB, OR MANUAL LEVER CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT. THIS COULD CREATE A SITUATION OF DEATH BY BURNING.

MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO LOCKS ON REAR DOORS FOR BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE STARTED FAILING INTERMITTENTLY AND I COULD ONLY OPEN THEM BY REACHING IN FROM FRONT AND MANUALLY FLIPPING LOCK. NOW THEY ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL. I BROUGHT THEM TO MY SERVICE MECHANIC AND HE QUOTED APPROX. $500 FOR EACH! I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO PUT INTO THIS CAR. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN PAVEMENT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTORE BRAKING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH FIRST INCIDENT IN APRIL 2015. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS. WAS KEPT OVERNIGHT BUT MECHANICS COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IN SEPTEMBER WE TOOK TO MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED NEW MASTER CYLINDER. WORKED TEMPORARILY. JANUARY HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT AFTER HAVING TO HIT BRAKES HARD, HAD NO BRAKES. BEYOND FRIGHTENING. WENT BACK TO MECHANIC AND HE WANTED TO REPLACE ABS BUT ONLY NISSAN COULD MAKE REPAIR. BACK TO DEALER AND SPENT $2800 REPLACING ABS. BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. SPENT A YEAR FEELING UNSAFE, NEVER KNOWING WHEN BRAKES MIGHT FAIL.
MY CAR INCURRED A FLAT TIRE. CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID THE FLAT WAS CAUSED BY A SCREW WHICH IS WORN AWAY AND CAUSED THE TIRE SENSOR TO DISPLAY AND THE FLAT OCCURRED. SERVING DEALER SAID I NEED TO REPLACE ALL SENSORS AND SCREWS. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. I FOUND THROUGH THE DEALER THAT THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON ONLY ONE SENSOR/TIRE...NOT ALL OF THEM. I WAS DRIVING ON M52 AND WAS GOING TO ATTEMPT TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. I STABBED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS AND IT STUCK IN THIS POSITION. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN TO COVER THE REPAIR WORK AS THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE WITH THEIR MURANOS, AND MY VEHICLE IS NOW OFF WARRANTY. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK MANUALLY OR WITH THE REMOTE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOES NOT LOCK 75% OF THE TIMES. *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING A BURNT RUBBER SMELL FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW LIKE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND NOTED THIS INCIDENT ON THE WORK ORDER. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN LATER INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS LEAKING FLUID AND WAS BLOWING ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE AND UNDER CARRIAGE. THEY SAID THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE BURNT RUBBER SMELL, NOT A DRIVE BELT. THE WARRANTY FOR THIS COMPONENT EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I WAS CHARGED APPROX. $1700 FOR THIS REPAIR BEFORE DISCOUNTS. I ASKED THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN IF THIS IS A COMMON REPAIR, HE SAID, "YES, WE DO A LOT OF THESE." I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS REPAIR TO THE POINT THAT IT APPEARS TO BE A RELIABILITY ISSUE. USING THE FMEA APPROACH - SEVERITY IS HIGH TO THE FACT THAT WITHOUT GEAR FLUID THE TRANSFER CASE WILL CEASE AND CAUSE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IS NOT DETECTABLE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF NORMAL USER MAINTENANCE. THE FLUID CAN ONLY BE CHECKED BY A MECHANIC FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT (I.E. DIPSTICK). OCCURRENCE OR FREQUENCY APPEARS TO BE COMMON PER THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN'S COMMENTS. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. I SUSPECT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THIS KNOW DEFECT (BAD SEAL).
