05 & 06 NISSAN PATHFINDERS GOT A BAD BATCH OF RADIATORS THAT WERE INSTALLED INTO THERE CARS. THE RADIATORS ARE CRACKING AND ALLOWING THE COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DESTROYING BOTH AND LEAVING CONSUMERS WITH REPAIR BILLS BETWEEN $5500.00 AND $7500.00. THE DANGER IN THIS MATTER IS THAT CARS ARE OVER HEATING ON THE ROADS, AND TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAILING DURING DRIVING. HOW SAFE CAN IT BE WHEN A CAR IS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENS AT 70MPH IN THE FAST LANE OR IN A STEEP INCLINE. IF YOUR LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY THEN A FAMILY WITH KIDS COULD BE TRAPPED ON THE HWY OR BACK ROADS OF AMERICA FORCED TO WALK TO THE NEAREST TOWN PUTTING THEM IN EXTREME DANGER OF BEING RUN OVER AND KILLED. ALSO IF A CAR OVERHEATS AND SOMEONE TRIES TO FORCE IT DOWN THE ROAD TO A TOWN THAT CAR COULD CATCH FIRE. ALL DUE TO NISSAN PUTTING THESE RADIATORS INTO THERE SUVS KNOWING ITS A FAMILY CAR. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM PUTTING 10S OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES AT RISK. *TR
MY VEHICLE STARTED (MAR 2010) TO VIBRATE AT BETWEEN 45 AND 65 MPH, IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP. BROUGHT IT TO DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED A BAD UNIVERSAL JOINT. TEN MONTHS (JAN 2011) LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, ADDITIONALLY CAR WAS SHIFTING POORLY AND FELT LIKE IT COULDN'T FIND THE CORRECT GEAR BETWEEN 45 AND 65 MPH, DEALER SAID I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN THEY DROPPED THE DRIVESHAFT THEY SAID IT WAS JUST A UNIVERSAL JOINT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE DRIVESHAFT. THE PROBLEM RECURRED IN MAR 2012, BROUGHT VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC (VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY) WHO CONSULTED A TRANSMISSION SHOP. WAS TOLD THAT RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION THROUGH A FAULTY HOSE/LINE IN THE RADIATOR AND VEHICLE NOW NEED A TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL AND NEW RADIATOR. I AM CONCERNED THAT TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY ON HIGHWAY LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A NISSAN DEALER WITH A DEFECTIVE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS TRIGGERED A RECALL FOR 2005 AND 2006 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED WITHIN THREE MONTHS OF MY MANUFACTURER DATE YET HAS NOT BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL OF THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. THIS IS AN EXISTING ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT RECALL. THIS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES AS VEHICLES CAN UNEXPECTEDLY RUN OUT OF GAS AND BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE ON HIGHWAYS OR OTHER DANGEROUS SCENARIOS. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND ASKED THEM TO REVIEW THIS ISSUE AND INCLUDE THE ENTIRE 2006 MODEL YEAR BUT WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE AT THIS TIME. *TR
2006 PATHFINDER STEERING COLUMN ISSUE. STEERING GOES FROM WOBBLY TO TIGHT BUT MOSTLY WOBBLES. PROBLEM WORSENING OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW WEEKS. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT BEARINGS ARE WORN OUT IN THE COLUMN AND THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IT IS TO BUY WHOLE NEW COLUMN AND COUPLING FOR $1300. NISSAN REFUSES TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AS CAR IS OUTSIDE OF THE 3 YR/36,000 WARANTY. SEARCHED INTERNET AND THERE ARE MANY OTHER 2005-2006 PATHFINDER OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM SURPRISED THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT TAKE A MORE PROACTIVE APPROACH IN DEALING WITH THIS DEFECT AS IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE LIFE THREATENING.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 10 MPH DURING NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ALL OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE REMAINED OPERABLE, INCLUDING THE HAZARD LIGHTS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PERMANENTLY RELEASED TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 23,000.

THE CONTACT STATED HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
NISSAN 2006 PATHFINDER MODELS COME WITH DEFECTS THAT NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON THIS VEHICLES ARE DEFECTED AND CAN CAUSE PEOPLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND PUT THEMSELVES IN DANGER. ALSO THE RADIATOR CAN CAUSE A LEEK AND SEND FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING POSSIBLE ACCIDENT. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADMIT THIS IS A RECALL PROBLEM. *TR

THEY INSTALLED 25060-ZZ00A : GAUGE ASSY TANK INSTALLED 17342-EA" PACKING FUEL GAUGE TOTAL COST WITH LABOR 466.08 ON 1/6/2012 I WENT TO RICKS SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN FOR A MONTH REPAIRS WERE PCM DIAGNOSTIC TEST & DATA VAPOR CANISTER VALVE REPLACED R&R CANISTER VENT CONTROL VALVE REPLACED TOTAL COST 215.17. *TR
IN NOVEMBER 2008 I PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE FROM A PRIVATE OWNER. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAVING IT INSPECTED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND FOR 1 YEAR I DROVE IT WITH NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. IN NOVEMBER 2009, THE GAS GAGUE BEGAN REGISTERING EMPTY WHEN IT WAS ON A QUARTER TANK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR ($400) WHICH RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AND FOR THAT EXACT PROBLEM JUST 3 MONTHES AFTER I HAD MINE REPAIRED, BUT BECAUSE MY VIN# WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, I WAS TOLD MY MONEY WOULD NOT BE REFUNDED . NOT LONG AFTER THIS INCIDENT WITH 58,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT EVEN THOUGH MY TRANSMISSION IS COVERED UP TO 60,000 MILES, BECAUSE THE PROBLEM ORIGINATED FROM A FAULTY SEAL ON MY RADIATOR (ONLY COVERED UNTIL 36,000 MILES) THAT LEAKED ANTIFREEZE INTO MY TRANSMISSION, MY TRANSMISSION REPAIRS WERE MY RESPONSIBILITY. I CALL NISSAN CORP. TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT NISSAN HAS RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMPLAINT CALLS FORM OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. SHE ADVISED ME TO VOICE MY CONCERNS TO YOU IN HOPES THAT YOU COULD RESLOVE THE MATTER.
FUEL SENDING UNIT IN THE 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER BROKE AND NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THE FIX. WIFE WAS STRANDED AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THERE ARE CONFIRMATION FROM MECHANICS THAT THESE FAIL TOO EARLY. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER RECENTLY BEGAN DISPLAYING THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT IN RESPONSE TO BOTH THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE ELECTRONIC DTE FUEL GAUGE WHICH HAVE FAILED. AS A RESULT, IT IS DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL IS CURRENTLY IN THE VEHICLE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 59,000 MILES SHOWS EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. DEALER BLAMES A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR BUT IT APPEARS THAT A WEALTH OF OTHER PATHFINDER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE TRUCK. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER BECAME WOBBLY AFTER ONLY 50,000 MILES. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD, AT TIMES, BE NORMAL, THEN BE WOBBLY. AT TIMES THE POWER STEERING WOULD SEEMS TO FAIL AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BE HARD TO TURN. THE NISSAN DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS NEEDING A NEW STEERING COLUMN AND, TO THEIR CREDIT, WHILE OUT OF WARRANTY, REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN FOR FREE. *TR

SHE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE NHTSA ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK) WHICH WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE A SECOND REPAIR WAS MADE TO THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT MAKE THE REQUIRED RECALL REPAIRS. THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD CONTINUE TO READ INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS OR IT WOULD BECOME INOPERABLE SPORADICALLY. NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH WHEN THE HEATER AND DEFROSTER FAILED. THE WINDOWS HAD TO REMAIN OPEN IN ORDER TO KEEP THE WINDOWS FROM FOGGING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE INNER COOLING SYSTEM AND INTO THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE HEATER FAILURE. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FILTER AND RADIATOR. WITHIN FIVE MONTHS, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. ADDITIONALLY, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD SPORADICALLY READ INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS, CAUSING HER TO RUN OUT OF FUEL TWICE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY TANK) BUT WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 118,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE HAD SUDDENLY DROPPED TO ZERO, MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE HAD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS AND THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 68000.
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL. WHEN I FILL THE TANK IT WILL SHOW EMPTY OR SOME OTHER INCORRECT AMOUNT. ALSO, THE DTE DISPLAY IS FLASHING SOLID LINES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. AFTER DRIVING THE GAUGE SOMETIMES STARTS TO WORK PROPERLY BUT IT ALWAYS MALFUNCTIONS AT SOME POINT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT SOMETIMES, BUT COMES BACK ON WHEN FUEL LEVEL GETS LOW.
THE 2005/06 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE RADIATOR (COOLANT) LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEFECT CAUSES THE CAR TO SMOKE ONCE THE TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT. THIS ALSO AT SOME POINTS CAUSES THE CAR TO SWITCH GEARS VIOLENTLY ON WHEN GOING ABOVE 60 MPH. *TR
TRANSMISSION STALLING VEHICLE MAKING VEHICLE JUMP. CALLED NISSAN MOTORS ABOUT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. HAVE READ ON BOARDS THIS PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR IS VERY COMMON IN THESE VEHICLES. VEHICLE JUST ALL OF THE SUDDEN STARTS JUMPING WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PAID TOO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS NISSAN TO BE HAVING THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS AND DO NOT WANT TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN IS NOT COOPERATING WITH ALL THE CONSUMERS THAT OWN THESE VEHICLES. I AM AFRAID IT IS GOING TO COMPLETELY STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. *TR
DEAR SIR/MADAM: MY HUSBAND, OUR THREE SMALL DAUGHTERS, AND MYSELF WERE PULLING OUT OF TOYS R US WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CAR JERKED AND CHOKED AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING BROADSIDED BY A SEMI-TRUCK! THANK GOODNESS MY HUSBAND SWERVED AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHERE WE COASTED TO A STOP. IT WAS HARROWING TO SAY THE LEAST. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. HE WAS UNABLE TO "REPRODUCE" THE SYMPTOMS. WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM TWICE SINCE THEN AND I'VE CONTACTED NISSAN USA TO NO AVAIL. WE WON'T EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE. TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUDDER AS IF DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIPS, THEN OVERHEATED ON MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLING FLUID MIXED DUE TO DEFECT. RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AND TRUCK COMPLETELY FLUSHED SEVERAL TIMES. GOOD CHANCE THAT TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED, ALSO. TOTAL COST OF REPAIR WAS $1500. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REBUILT; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST PRODUCED AN UNKNOWN CODE PERTAINING TO THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. THE WAS CONCERNED WHEN SHE VIEWED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, INCLUDING NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK) BUT WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE FAILURE SINCE THEY WERE FULLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

DUE TO AN ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT IN A HOSE LEADING FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE TRANSMISSION, COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR TO THE TUNE OF >$4000. NISSAN RECOGNIZED THERE WAS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY TO JUST UNDER THE MILEAGE WHERE THE MAJORITY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS WERE BEGINNING TO EXPERIENCE ISSUES. I OWN A 2006 PATHFINDER THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. MY ISSUE BEGAN WITH A FILL UP WHEN I HAD 1/3 OF A TANK OF GAS AND FOUND THAT THE NEEDLE DID NOT MOVE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING DAY. WHEN IT DID FINALLY REGISTER, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE AND IT READ THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WAS AMAZED THERE IS NO ACTION FROM NISSAN CONSIDERING THE MULTITUDE OF ENTRIES I DISCOVERED ON THE INTERNET WITH THE EXACT PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MODELS RANGING FROM 2005-2007. THIS REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO COST UPWARDS OF $700 FROM THE DEALER. THIS SAFETY ISSUE MAKES ME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE ANY DISTANCE AND IS DUE TO A FAULTY PART THAT NISSAN SHOULD REMEDY AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 06 NISSAN PATHFINDER IS FAILING. IT HAS BEEN DOING SO SINCE LAST NOVEMBER. SOMETIMES THE GAUGE DROPS TO "E" NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS IS IN IT AND SOMETIMES IT READS THERE IS MORE GAS THAN THERE ACTUALLY IS. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS LIT SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. ACCORDING TO THE WEB, THE 06 PATHFINDERS BUILT FROM JAN THROUGH MARCH HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED. MINE WAS BUILT IN MAY AND THE SERVICE MANAGER AT HARRISONBURG, VA NISSAN ADVISES I AM NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OUR VEHICLE "SHAKING" AT 40 MPH AND AGAIN AT 60 MPH. WE HAVE HAD IT INTO THE SHOP TO BE LOOKED AT BUT AFTER REPLACING U-JOINTS, SOME OTHER ITEMS AND PUTTING NEW TIRES ON OUR VEHICLE IT DIDN'T GET BETTER. SHE THOUGHT THAT POSSIBLY SHE WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS ALTHOUGH IT WAS SHOWING A 1/4 TANK BUT WE HAD BEEN NOTICING THAT THE GAS GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE WHEN WE WOULD FILL THE VEHICLE UP (SOMETHING THAT WE NOTICED OTHER NISSAN OWNERS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL). SHE STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD US THAT THE RADIATOR LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND WE WERE GOING TO NEED A NEW RADIATOR AND NEW TRANSMISSION. WE ARE OVER OUR MILES AND OUR WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT.
