TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY, THE SUN VISOR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRACTURED AND WAS HANGING DOWN. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE SUN VISOR COULD STRIKE AND CAUSE AN INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
EVER SINCE PURCHASE THE SUN VISORS (BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER) HAVE BEEN WEAKER THAN OTHER VEHICLES. THEY MAKE LOUD POPPING AND CRACKING NOISE WHEN ENGAGED AND CLOSED. THIS WEEKEND WE ENTERED THE VEHICLE TO LEAVE AND NOTICE THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WAS NOT UP AGAINST THE CEILING. IT WOULDN'T STAY IN PLACE, THERE IS A LARGE GAP AND THE VISOR IS JUST ABOVE EYE LEVEL AT ALL TIMES NOW. THIS FAILURE IN THE MECHANISM ALSO AFFECTS THE "OPEN" POSITION BY NOT ALLOWING IT TO BE ADJUSTED TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD AND ABOVE SITE-LINE. IF IT'S "OPEN" IT HANGS VERTICAL AND WILL NOT ADJUST OUT OF SITE. THE MECHANISM IS SO WEAK AND BROKEN AT THIS POINT THAT WE FEAR IT MAY FALL FROM IT'S CURRENT "CLOSED" POSITION TO "OPEN" AND DIRECTLY IN THE LINE OF SITE WHILE DRIVING. WHILE NOT AS IMPORTANT TO DRIVER SAFETY, THE PASSENGER SIDE IS JUST AS BAD. NISSAN IS NOT RECALLING THESE, BUT IT IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS THAT I HAVE CALLED FOR REPLACEMENT. TO REPLACE ONE UNIT IS CLOSE TO $200 ($194.50). THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A "KNOWN ISSUE" THAT IS ACTUALLY A SAFETY CONCERN AS MUCH AS IT IS AN ANNOYANCE.
THE PROBLEM STARTED A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE AND FIX MANY TIMES. I HAVE BEEN SENT HOME SEVERAL TIMES STATING THAT THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. MY CAR JUMPS WHEN I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY FROM A LOW SPEED. 2 MONTHS AGO, I WAS ON A MAIN ROAD AT A 4-WAY LIGHT INTERSECTION WHEN IT CAUSED ME TO STUDDER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHERE I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL AS THOUGHT THE DEALERSHIP IS PURPOSEFULLY TRYING NOT TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM OR THEY ARE TRYING TO WAIT UNTIL MY CAR IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TODAY I WAS PULLING INTO MY GARAGE WHEN THE CAR STUDDERED AND THEN JUMPED AGAIN WHICH CAUSED ME TO HIT MY TRASH CANS AND NOW I HAVE A DENT IN THE FRONT SIDE OF MY CAR.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2014 PATHFINDER HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE DEALT WITH REPLACING COMPUTER COMPONENTS IN THE TRANSMISSION, FIXING FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEMS THAT CAUSE THE CAR TO SHUTDOWN, AND A TRANSMISSION THAT WAS FINALLY REPLACE ONLY TO FAIL ROUGHLY 4 WEEKS LATER! THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STOP ALLOWING NISSAN TO SELL ANY CAR WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION TO CONSUMERS. THEY ARE UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE A FATALITY WRECK DUE TO MALFUNCTIONS. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE OR REPURCHASE MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ORDEAL AS FAR BACK AS 2015. MOST RECENTLY MY CAR TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL EITHER SHUDDER AND FAIL TO GO PAST 20MPH. ADDITIONALLY I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY JERK WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO REDUCE MY SPEED DUE TO TRAFFIC, AND WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A JERKING MOTION WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPED TO 60MPH AND IMMEDIATELY FEEL TO 20MPH. THE CAR WENT THROUGH THIS CYCLE FOR ALMOST ONE MINUTE.
THE ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLED POWER STEERING PUMP HAS NOW STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD BUZZING / WHISTLING NOISE. IT IS SO LOUD, YOU CAN HEAR IT INSIDE THE CAR WITH THE RADIO ON. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL, ALTHOUGH IT JUST STARTED MAKING THE NOISE. IT MAKES THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING, STATIONARY OR TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT. IN OTHER WORDS ALL THE TIME. THE CAR IS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALER HAS REFUSED TO PERFORM SERVICE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY SAY THE NOISE IS NORMAL. I'M AFRAID THE PUMP WILL FAIL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
I EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING WITH MY TRANSMISSION ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS; CAR JUMPING INTO LOW GEAR AND SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RPMS DRIVING UPHILL, CAR JUMPING INTO LOW GEAR AND SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RPMS DRIVING DOWNHILL, AND GEARS 'SLIPPING'. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE NHTSA IN 2017 FOR MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND DETAILED WHAT I BELIEVE TO HAVE BEEN TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THEM. I WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE ISSUE, THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH JANUARY 1, 2021 OR UNTIL MY CAR REACHED 84K MILES. I THOUGHT THE ISSUES WAS ADDRESSED AND WENT ON WITH LIFE. EVEN WHEN I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES I DOUBTED IT WAS TRANSMISSION RELATED AS I WAS ASSURED THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I STARTED TO THINK IT WAS BRAKES RELATED, A FROZEN CALIPER OR SOMETHING. IT WASN'T UNTIL RECENT WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY 'JUMPED' INTO A LOW GEAR AND I HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO GET DOWN THE HILL DID I REALIZE THIS ISSUE WAS IN FACT TRANSMISSION RELATED. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE DIAGNOSTICS AND DETERMINED THERE IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. MY CAR IS AT 92K MILES AT THIS POINT AND OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NISSAN STATES THEY WILL ONLY COVER 70% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. I URGED THEM TO CONSIDER THE FACT THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY VOICED CONCERNS WHICH ARE CAPTURED IN THEIR RECORDS AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY ABLE TO NOW DUPLICATE THE ISSUE I HAD PREVIOUSLY VOICED IN 2017 WHEN MY CAR WAS WITHIN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. NISSAN STATES BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THEN, THEY WILL NOT HONOR 100% OF THE REPAIR COSTS AND ARE OFFERING THE 70% OUT OF GOODWILL. I BELIEVE I AND OTHERS MAY BE TREATED UNFAIRLY BY THIS CAR COMPANY.
THE DRIVER SUN VISOR FLAPPED BACK AND FORTH. IT CAN'T STAY UP AND DOWN PROPERLY. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT COME DOWN IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I TRIED TO USE IT THEREFORE I HAVE TO HOLD UP WITH ONE HAND WHILE MY OTHER HAND IS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I ONLY USE 6 TIMES DURING THE 3 YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT AND I AM THE FIRST OWNER. IT STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO BUT IT BECAME WORST NOW.
VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE SHAKES OR JERKS UPON CHANGING GEARS, DURING ACCELERATION OR SLOWING DOWN. VEHICLE IS ALSO SLOW TO ACCELERATE UPON TAKE OFF, PUTTING ME AT RISK FOR OTHER CAR TO CRASH INTO ME. VEHICLE MAX SPEED IS 50MPH. MECHANIC STATES CVT IS FAULTY.
WE BOUGHT THE 2014 PATHFINDER USED IN MARCH 2017 WITH APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES ON IT. BOTH VISORS CLICKED WHEN PUTTING THEM BACK UP AND WOULD NOT STAY IN THE FULL UP POSITION. IN MARCH 2018, THE DRIVER'S VISOR FELL AND WILL NOT STAY IN EITHER THE FULL UP OR FULL DOWN POSITION, THUS OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VISION. THE BROKEN PLASTIC IS VISIBLE INSIDE THE FABRIC OF THE VISOR. I HAD TO PIN IT TO THE ROOF TO ENSURE SAFE DRIVING. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO MISUSE, BUT NOW I SEE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. I DON'T SEE THAT NISSAN HAS PROVIDED FREE REPAIRS, HOWEVER. SINCE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THE VISORS REPLACED FREE TO CUSTOMERS.
BRAKE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINING ON/ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN BRAKE WAS NOT SUPPRESSED. BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN IN MOTION AS WELL AS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF. AS A RESULT, THERE IS NO WAY FOR ONE TO DETERMINE IF/WHEN THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED. THIS ISSUE ALSO PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES CAUSE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISKS.
FROM TIME TO TIME, MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER WILL NOT ACCELERATE ON FULL THROTTLE WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 22K, AND NOW AROUND 34K, IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A WEEK AGO TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THEY CHANGED A BRAKE RELAY AND DID SOME RECALL-RELATED SOFTWARE UPDATES. SINCE THEN, IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR IN THE INTERSTATE RAMP AS I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS THE MAJOR ISSUE AMONG THE 2013-2014 PATHFINDERS AND THEY HAVE RECALLED CLOSE TO THE MILLION VEHICLES FOR THIS. HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S TAG ON MY CAR, THIS BATCH WAS BUILT AFTER THE RECALL DATE (AUGUST 2014). IT LOOKS LIKE NISSAN PROBABLY HAVE NOT YET FOUND THE REAL SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE, OR, THEIR CVT TRANSMISSION DESIGN IS FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED. WHATEVER MIGHT THE REASON BE, NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND PUT MORE PRESSURE ON THEM TO FIX IT. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE...PLEASE INVESTIGATE!!!
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN REPLACED. I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND LOSE POWER, THE CAR WILL ONLY GO 5 MILES AN HOUR ALL LIGHTS COME ON AND MY FOOT IS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO FLOOR. MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. I HAVE BEEN IN DANGER NUMEROUS TIMES OF BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE NISSAN DEALER FOR 3 WEEKS NOW WITH SAME PROBLEM! I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY WITH THIS CAR, MY GRANDKIDS CANNOT DRIVE WITH ME DUE TO SAFETY ISSUE.

BOUGHT 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER NEW. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO CAR BEGAN SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION BOTH IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. ON 1/21/2017 CAR BECAME STUCK IN 1ST GEAR AND UPON STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, CAR DID NOT MOVE AT ALL. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND TODAY WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. NOW THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR BROKE AND IS HANGING, IT WON'T STAY UP CAUSING LACK OF VISION TO THE DRIVER AND HAZARD TO ALL PASSENGERS.
ABS BRAKING WENT ON AND STAYED ON , COMEPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN BRAKES FOR DISTANCE OF 100 FEET, CAUSING ME TO ROLL THROUGH STOP SIGN NARROWLY MISSING SEVERAL PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLES.
MY VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO OD ON ITS OWN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE A SOFT REASSEMBLY AN REPLACED THE GUTS OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ISSUE IS STILL OCCURING. THIS VEHICLE ALSO PREVIOUSLY NEEDED TO BE TOWED DUE TO IT NOT ACCELERATING AFTER REACHING 60MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. IT SLOWED DOWN ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PASS 20 MPH
CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE THE VEHICLE PURCHASED AS NEW ON 05/08/2014. REPORTED TO NISSAN DEALER AT REGULAR SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKING AND BUCKING IN EARLY JANUARY 2017. SINCE THEN VEHICLE AT DEALER SERVICE MANY TIMES ONCE FOR ALMOST 4 WEEKS AT A STREACH. MULTIPLE SOFTWARE AND PROGRAM/UPDATES WITH NO RESOLUTION OF PROBLEM. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS NOT RESPONDING TO CALLS OR MESSAGES LEFT. 8/08/17 TRANSMISSION REBUILT WITH NO CORRECTION OF PROBLEM. 9/11/2017 TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH NO RESULTS. AS OF 10/31/17 PATHFINDER AT DEALER. AS PER SHOP MANAGER JUDDER/JUTTER STILL PRESENT AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR NISSAN RESPONSE. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND JUMPS SHAKING WHOLE VEHICLE. NISSAN SERVICE UNABLE TO FIX AFTER MUTIPLE ATTEMPTS OVER A SPAN OF 11 MONTHS. I BELEIVE THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ALL IN THE VEHICLE AND AROUND IF TRANSMISSION FAILS, SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED TO CARRY 7 PASSENGERS. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THE SALES DEPARTMENT ARE IGNORING MESSAGES. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS REGULARLY WHEN VEHICLE TRAVELLING IN URBAN ROADS UNDER 40 MPH SPEED. THIS VEHICLE PURCHASED AS NEW. SERVICED ONLY BY NISSAN DEALER WHERE IT WAS BROUGHT FROM.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS FELL DOWN AND WON'T STAY UP. OBSTRUCTING VIEW WHILE DRIVING.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V344000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ONCE THE PARTS WERE SUPPLIED FROM THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THE CALLER RECEIVED NO FOLLOW-UP FOR MONTHS. THE DEALER AND THE INTERIM NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED MY NISSAN NEW IN 2014 AND NOW WITH 120000 I AM TOLD MY VEHICLE NEEDS A 3RD TRANSMISSION. NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 13-15 CVT'S FOR THE PATHFINDER AS THEY HAVE REDESIGNED THE TRANSMISSION TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND HAVE ISSUED TWO RECALLS ON THE SOFTWARE FOR THE CVT. I REQUESTED ASSISTANCE THEN THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND REPLACE IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE HAS BEEN DONE AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS. THE ORIGINAL JUTTER ISSUE WAS EXTREME, BUT I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THE NEW JUTTER ISSUE IS COMPRESSED AND NOT AS NOTICEABLE, BUT I WAS NOT INFORMED UNTIL AFTER IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THAT IS WOULD NOT FEEL THE SAME. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE JUTTER CODE IS BACK AND THAT WAS I WAS FEELING IS IN FACT THE SAME ISSUE.

RECEIVED A RECALL FOR OCS SENSOR. BROUGHT CAR INTO NISSAN PREMIER OF METAIRIE. AFTER REPAIRING SENSOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OUT. CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER. I WAS TOLD THE LIGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO STAY ON AND ONLY GO OFF IF IT DETECTED SOMEONE IN THE SEAT. THIS DOES NOT SOUND CORRECT. I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO HAVING THE OSC SOFTWARE PUT INTO MY VEHICLE. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY AS THOUGH THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER I AM DRIVING THE CAR AND ONLY GOES OFF WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE SUN VISOR ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FELL DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,400.
AUTOMATIC OPEN AND CLOSE LIFTGATE CLOSES WITHOUT CAUSE WHEN FULLY OPEN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WITHIN THE FIRST TWO FEET OF TRAVEL DOWN IT CANNOT BE STOPPED. IT HAS CAUSED HEAD AND NECK INJURY TO THOSE STANDING BENEATH THE LIFTGATE.
I HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION TWICE NOW FROM NISSAN, THAT THE OCS HAS A RECALL AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE OCS IS NOT WORKING RIGHT, THE AIRBAG WON'T DEPLOY CORRECTLY. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET THIS FIXED AND THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THIS RECALL. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN!

I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO ADDRESS SEVERAL RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE SINCE JUNE 2016. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL AND SURROUNDING NISSAN DEALERSHIPS THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN NISSAN WOULD SHIP THE PARTS TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL. I'VE CALLED LOCAL NISSAN EVERY MONTH SINCE JUNE 2016 TO ASK IF THE PARTS ARE IN BUT TO NO AVAIL.
MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR THE 3RD TRANSMISSION. THE LAST TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN 2 MONTHS AGO. CAR STALLS, SPUTTERS, FAILS TO ACCELERATE.
CVT TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHAKING SINCE THE FIRST MOTH OF PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE DEALER HAS SAID SEVERAL TIMES THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE DESPITE MY CONCERNS. EVERY SINGLE TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAND NEW CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN AT LEAST 4 OR 5 TIMES. THE CAR WILL SHAKE SO HARD IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE CAR IS SKIPPING BETWEEN 20-40 MPH AND YOU HAVE TO CLUTCH THE STEERING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OR DISENGAGE THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING AND AT ANY TIME THE CAR SHIFTS BETWEEN GEARS AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THIS IS UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEEDING TO PICK UP SPEED OR MAKING A TURN ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHUDDERING AND SHAKING WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN I ACCELERATED WOULD HESITATE AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS WOULD MOVE A LITTLE SLOW WITH CONTINUAL SHAKING AND SHUDDERING. ONCE STOPPED AND PARKED I TRIED TO THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON WITH THE BATTERY AND WOULDN'T START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NISSAN WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS THE INDUCTION AIR FLOW , ECM, AND COST $400. AFTER LEAVING NISSAN I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK THE NEXT WEEK FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER DROVE IT AND SAID THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE 2014 ARE KNOWN TO HAVE PROBLEMS. HE SAID TO BRING IT BACK IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN AFTER BEING STRANDED 3 TIMES, ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES AND ONCE BY A SEMI- TRUCK WHEN IT SHUDDERED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. NISSAN CONFIRMED THAT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS DEFECTIVE. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $4000 BECAUSE IT HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT. I FILED A CONSUMER COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN NISSAN CORP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. NISSAN KNEW THAT THE CVT WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN THEY SOLD IT. THEY SENT OUT A SERVICE LETTER TO THEIR DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THE ISSUE IN SEPTEMBER 2013. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IS GOING TO COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE. NISSAN SHOULD BACKUP THEIR VEHICLES. A TWO YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD NOT NEED THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. ESPECIALLY A $40,000 VEHICLE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND THEFT BY DECEPTION.
THE ISSUE IS THE PLASTIC INSIDE THE SUN VISORS BREAKS EASILY. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THEM ONCE, AND NOW THEY'RE BOTH BROKEN AGAIN. WHEN THE INTERNAL PLASTIC COMPONENTS BREAK, THE VISOR HANGS DOWN AND RESTRICTS YOUR VISION AS YOU'RE DRIVING. YOU ARE UNABLE TO POSITION THE VISOR TO BLOCK THE SUN AS WELL, WHICH PRESENTS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO CONNECTING TWO DOG COLLARS TOGETHER TO KEEP THE VISORS IN AN UP POSITION RATHER THAN SPEND $200-300 TO REPLACE THEM. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE THE VISOR SINCE ITS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY ONLY COVER WARRANTY WORK FOR ONE YEAR. MY TRANSMISSION DIED ON I 95 AFTER ONLY 38,000 MILES. IT WAS REPLACED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEN A MONTH LATER THE BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION LEAKED SO MUCH FLUID THAT THE GOODYEAR MECHANIC THAT I TOOK THE CAR TO(SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WASN'T OPEN) COULDN'T FIND WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS ACTUALLY LEAKING FROM.

SO I HAVE A 2014 PATHFINDER THAT IS A COMPLETE SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO FIX. PROCEEDING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD THE THIRD ROW LEFT SEAT BELT ANCHOR BECAME UNATTACHED FROM THE SEAT/VEHICLE FRAME WHILE IN USE BY AN ADULT THAT WAS OCCUPYING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE THIRD ROW SEAT. THE ANCHOR OF THE BELT WHERE THE BELT BUCKLE LATCHES INTO CAME COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE CAR, ENDANGERING THE ADULT OCCUPANT. THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY BREAK BUT LIKELY DEFECT AS THERE WERE NO BROKEN, CRACKED OR DAMAGED PARTS VISIBLY SEEN. NISSAN U.S.A. WAS CONTACTED REGARDING THE SITUATION AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH US DUE TO THE INDIVIDUAL BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENOUGH TO COMPREHEND NORMAL AND RELEVANT CONVERSATION AND DETAILS ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT. A CALL BACK TO THE SAME NUMBER PROVIDED BY NISSAN U.S.A. ENCOUNTERED THE SAME DIFFICULTY AND AN OVERALL DISREGARD OF THE PROBLEM. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP INSTRUCTED US THAT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL, WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. OUR THIRD ROW IS ONLY UTILIZED RARELY WHEN WE HAVE MORE THAN 4 OCCUPANTS, AND HAS ONLY BEEN USED 3 TIMES. NO ABUSE OF THE BUCKLE BY ANY INDIVIDUAL HAS OCCURRED. THE PASSENGER IN THIS CASE COULD HAVE BEEN EJECTED FATALLY IN A COLLISION.

AFTER OWNING MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AND 37000 MILES (CONVENIENTLY JUST OUT OF THE FACTORY WARRANTY PERIOD), THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BECAME INOPERABLE AND, WHAT I CONSIDERED TO BE, A SAFETY HAZZARD. THE INSIDE PORTION OF THE VISOR ITSELF WAS OBVIOUSLY POORLY ENGINEERED AND LOOSENED/CRACKED INSIDE THE VISOR WHICH HOLDS IT SECURE TO THE VISOR ARM. THE VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, OUT OF THE FIELD OF VISION WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS CAUGHT IN A STATE OF LIMBO IN BETWEEN BEING ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND BEING ALL THE WAY UP. AS A TEMPORARY FIX, I HAD IT SECURED WITH VELCRO, BUT THIS WOULD COME LOOSE SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AND OBSTRUCT MY VISION. WITHIN A MONTH OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR BREAKING, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BROKE AS WELL, IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT. I SECURED BOTH VISORS IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION WITH BUNGEE CORDS AS THE VELCRO WASN'T SECURE. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF, ALMOST $400 TOTAL. I CONTACTED NISSAN'S CORPORATE OFFICE TO SEE IF THEY COULD RESOLVE THIS FOR ME SINCE IT HAS BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG PATHFINDER OWNERS, BUT I WAS GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER. MY CONCERN, THAT NISSAN DOESN'T SHARE, IS HAVING A VEHICLE WITH NO OPERABLE SUN VISORS. WHAT IF I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR BECAUSE I WAS BLINDED BY THE SUN? NISSAN, HOWEVER, DOES NOT THINK THIS IS A LEGITIMATE SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS REGARDING THIS KNOWN QUALITY DEFECT.
