I entered 14 freeway by sierra hwy entrance, as soon as I got in the fwy and left the pedal gas to slow down to get into traffic my van lost power and the shut off complete, i was very fortunate that it happened at the entrance and the cars behind me were able to stop on time and nobody got hurt, also today as soon I exit the cvs store get in into traffic, 1 minute after the van lost power and got stuck in traffic, this is very scary for me and my kids, my mechanics are not able to find the problem, please help
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the driver and passenger side front overhead airbags deployed without impact. The contact sustained headaches and sought medical treatment 2 days later with his doctor. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS MALFUNCTIONS
WE RECENTLY HAD TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR AND NOTICED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT THE SUBFRAME HAS A LARGE HOLE IN IT AND IS COMPLETELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN HIT THERE AND IT HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT RELATED TO THAT AREA AT ALL, VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME WHEN THIS WAS FOUND AND STILL IS I DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES AT THAT TIME OF THE ROTTING HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME I CAN GET PICTURES BUT WE WILL HAVE TO REMOVE RIGHT SIDE FRONT TIRE SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS HAS TO BE DONE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING AND THE ODOMETER DOES NOT WORK RIGHT
I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SOME MAINTENANCE/REPAIR TO THE FRONT AXLE ON 1/16/2020 AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE SUBFRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BY THE FRONT TIRE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE HE CAN PUSH HIS FINGER THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE FRAME. HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT BELIEVE I HAD NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IN HIS OPINION HITTING A MEDIUM SIZE CHUCKHOLE IN THE ROADWAY COULD CAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY COLLAPSE. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THIS DID NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT AND HAS BEEN ONGOING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE AT MY HOME DURING ITS USE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME AND NOT ROUTINELY LEFT PARKED ON THE STREET. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT IN HIS OPINION IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY FAR.
THE VEHICLE CAN'T SPEED WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT UNTIL YOUR OFF THE ENGINE BEFORE IT CAN SPEED AND IT OVERHEATING
THE AIR BAG LIGHT GLITCHES ON THE DASHBOARD, IT TURNS ON AND OFF. THE ONLY WINDOWS THAT OPEN ARE THE FRONT DOOR WINDOWS, THE BACK SIDE WINDOWS COULD BARELY CRACK OPEN && THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE VEHICLE "WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN" REACH DANGEROUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES THAT LITERALLY ARE HARMFUL AND DANGEROUS. A FAMILY VEHICLE WITH NO ABILITY TO OPEN ANY WINDOW ON THE 2 SLIDING DOORS, CAN LEAD TO VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES EVEN THOUGH THE FRONT 2 WINDOWS OPEN IS STILL NOT ENOUGH FOR AIR TO REACH PASSENGERS WHO SIT IN THE MIDDLE-ROW ESPECIALLY PASSENGERS WHO SIT ON THE 3RD ROW SEAT IN THE BACK OF THE VAN. A RECALL MUST BE DONE TO ADJUST THE WINDOWS ON BOTH SLIDING DOORS ON EACH SIDE TO BE ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS... THE TEMPERATURE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE[PASSENGERS AND SEATS AREA] WITH ALL THE WINDOWS OPEN WAS OF 99, ON A REGULAR SUNNY DAY.... WE DROVE TO WHERE WE HAD TO GO AND NO TYPE OF AIR WOULD REACH THE BACK SEATS WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING... SHE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS BREATHING AND WAS SWEATING SO MUCH.. I KEEP HER HYDRATED ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE TO DRIVE FAR BECAUSE THE AC DOESNT WORK AND WE CANT ROLL ANY WINDOW IN THE BACK DOWN SIN E THEY DONT ROLL DOWN... WHEN ITURN ON THE AC THE SMELL OF GASOLINE BEGINS TO COME OUT THROUGH THE VENTS... SUBFRAME ROTTED
I AM WRITING DUE TO THE FACT I TOOK MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST INTO THE SHOP TODAY BECAUSE OF A LOOSE STEERING WHEEL AND A HORRIBLE CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE. MY VAN ONLY HAS 97,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF VERY WELL. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE THE SUBFRAME IS BASICALLY ROTTING AWAY AND IS THE WORST HE HAS SEEN IN 50 YEARS OF WORK. I'VE READ NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS ONLINE OF OTHER WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I FEEL LIKE NISSAN SHOULD HELP COVER THE COST OF MY REPAIRS DUE TO POOR MANUFACTURING AND POOR QUALITY OF PARTS. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND WILL BE SHARING MY STORY WITH WHOEVER I CAN SHARE IT WITH. I WILL INCLUDE A LINK WITH A SITE WITH MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ME OUT. THERE WAS NOISE COMING OUT FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND UPON APPLYING BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL WAS GETTING PULLED FORCEFULLY TO THE RIGHT. THINKING THAT THERE COULD BE SOME PROBLEM WITH THE STRUTS, I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE REPAIR SHOP NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE SUB-FRAME (FRAME OR ENGINE CRADLE) UNDER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND ALMOST COMPLETELY GIVING AWAY. A HIGH-SPEED BUMP OR A SUDDEN BRAKING MAY HAVE CAUSED IT TO GIVE AWAY COMPLETELY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GO COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR IS OLD BUT THAT OLD FOR THE FRAME TO GIVE AWAY. THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR BUT MORE THAN THAT IT IS A SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE THAT MAY LEAD TO A BAD ACCIDENT. THE ONLY REASON THIS MAY BE NOTICED BEFORE SOMETHING DREADFUL HAPPENED IS ONLY BY CHANCE. THE DRIVERS MIGHT BE NOTICING OTHER ISSUES THAT PROMPTS THEM TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP WHILE THE OTHER SIDES OF THE FRAME ARE HOLDING UP THE VEHICLE FOR SOME TIME. SOME FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY QUITE A FEW CONSUMERS (FRAME RUSTED/BREAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE), BUT NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN THUS FAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND I-TEAM NEWS REPORTS ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES, BUT NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN. REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO QUIETLY GET THEIR CARS REPAIRED BUT NOT LODGE A COMPLAINT. GIVEN MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN ON A DIFFERENT ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE (CAM SENSOR FAILURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF COMPLETELY (WHILE DRIVING) THAT COMPLETELY JAMS THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE COULD ONLY BE BROUGHT TO STOP BY APPLYING PARKING BRAKE). I DON'T TRUST NISSAN TO TAKE ANY ACTION UNLESS THEY ARE FORCED TO.
ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION AT 25-35 MILES PER HOUR. TWO REPAIRS WERE NECESSARY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $500 TO GET THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR CRANK SHAFT SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. AS FOR THE SEAT PROBLEM, ONE OF THE RELEASE LEVERS BROKE OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE NOT YET HAD IT REPAIRED SO I DO NOT HAVE A COST FOR THIS REPAIR. I HAVE TO USE PLIERS TO RELEASE THE LEVER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH 2 INFANTS IN CARS SEATS AS WELL AS 3 OTHER ADULTS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WITHIN MINUTES THE STEERING WAS STIFF AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE AND ONTO A SIDE ROAD. THE VEHICLE FINALLT DECELLERATED TO A FULL STOP. TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED A FEW MOMENTS LATER. VEHICLE RAN AGAIN BUT NO STEERING. POPPED THE HOOD AND LOOKED AND NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE WELL. ADDED FLUID AND STEERED OK TILL 4 BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE AT WHICH TIME THE STEERING ACTING UP AGAIN AND NOT ACCELERATING NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU PUSH THE PEDAL. TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. STEERING NOT WORKING BUT ACCELERATED ENOUGH TO PARK IT AT HOME. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC BUT SAYS HE CANNOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL WEDNESDAY. WAS SO SCARED CAUSE HAD THE GRANDBABIES IN THE VAN.
THE SPEDOMETER AND THE LIGHTS FOR IT DON'T WORK GOT PULLED OVER AND TOLD I HAD A FAKE INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THEM NOT WORKING CAN'T GET AN EXACT READING ON MY MILEAGE,FUEL OR IF THE VANS OVER HEATING I CAN'T TELL HOW FAST OR SLOW I'M GOING
TAMARA INFLATORS, SENT MY VAN TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR BRAKE REPAIRMEN. I WAS TOLD SINCE THE FRONT SUBFRAME AT PASSENGER SIDE HAD SEVERE RUST AREA, MY VAN IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT WILL COST ME MORE THAN $4,000 TO REPLACE. I CHECKED INTERNET. THERE ARE MANY SAME PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON 2004 QUEST. IT LOOKS LIKE THE DEFECT OF MATERIALS TO ME.
TAKATA RECALL THE SPEEDOMETER GOES IN AND OUT ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE VAN IS NOT WORKING AND LIGHT BLINK ON AND OFF AND THE OVERDRIVE STAYS ON ALL THE TIME
ALL SIDE AIR BAGS HAVE ACTIVATED WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT OR COLLISION. THE REARWARD BAGS ACTIVATED AT 5 MPH THE FORWARD SIDE AIRBAGS ACTIVATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING.
PASSENGER AIR BAG LS OFF, LIGHT FLASHING SPEEDOMETER STARTS AT 30MILES
ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FROM 0MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF THEN TURN IT BACK ON THEN USUALLY IT WILL WORK. ALSO SOMETIMES IT WON'T START IT TURNS OVER STRONG BUT WILL NOT CRANK. I'LL WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES OR SO THEN ATTEMPTED AGAIN THEN IT WILL CRANK AND DRIVE NORMAL.
AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE CAR WILL DIE AND LIGHTS FLASH AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TRY AND START THE CAR. IT WILL RESTART BUT THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND AT VARIOUS TIMES AND SPEEDS. THEY TOLD US THIS HAPPENS ON A LOT OF THESE MODELS AND IT IS THE ECM.
THE VEHICLE MAIN COMPUTER IS DIRECTLY UNDER THE DRIVER WINDSHIELD. IT RUSTED OUT AND FAILED. BECAUSE IT WAS TOTALLY UNPROTECTED AND SUBJECT TO RAIN,SNOW EXCESSIVE HEAT, I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED TO THE COST OF $1,000. COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE. I DEMAND A REFUND AND A RECALL NOTICE ISSUED. THANK YOU!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THE SLIDING DOOR LATCHES FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY FOR THE REAR DOORS ON BOTH SIDES. THE CONTACT HAD TO CHECK THE DOORS TO ENSURE THAT THEY WERE SECURED AND WHEN THE FAILURE HAPPENED, THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE TWO ELECTRIC DOORS WITH FORCE. THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V186000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE04027 (STRUCTURE, LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) BUT THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE CONCERNING THE RECALLS. TWO DEALERS HAD BEEN NOTIFIED (BUSAM NISSAN,1501 E KEMPER RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45246,(513) 771-8100 AND JEFF WYLER NISSAN OF CINCINNATI, 8680 COLERAIN AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45251, (513) 385-1400). THE CONTACT WAS TO CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE A REMEDY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE MANUFACTURER MAY PROVIDE A SOLUTION BEING EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CAR WOULD STALL AND THE STEERING WOULD GO OUT, WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENED DAILY SINCE MAY OF 2016. IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO GO FROM STOPPED TO A STARTING POSITION, IT WOULD TAKE ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO PUSH DOWN ON ACCELERATOR TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE.
I BELIEVE A SENSOR SOMEWHERE IS GOING OUT. THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY WILL "MISS" A SHIFT, OR COME OUT OF GEAR. IF I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THEN GIVE IT GAS AGAIN, IT WILL SOMETIMES "SLAM" IN TO GEAR. WHEN IT IS ACTING UP, IT WILL ALSO TAKE A COUPLE SECONDS TO GO IN TO DRIVE FROM PARK OR REVERSE, THEN IT "SLAMS" IN TO GEAR. IT ALSO IS LACKING IN POWER, ALMOST AS IF A VACUUM ADVANCE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS WARM. ONCE, AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO WORK FINE FOR SOME TIME BEFORE STARTING TO ACT UP AGAIN.
DURING 05/05/2016 STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUE, THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED GIVING STARTING PROBLEM AND THEN WHEN IT WILL START IT WILL NOT HAVE ANY PICKUP IN DRIVE MODE. AFTER FEW HOURS EVERYTHING WENT NORMAL AND WHEN STARTED DRIVING ALL OF SUDDEN BREAK GOT PRESSED AND CAR COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DIAGNOSTIC IT FOUND TO BE BANK 1 CAMSHAFT SENSOR BUT EVEN AFTER REPLACING VEHICLE STILL BEHAVES SAME WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON.
I'VE HAD CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING!! WHEN IN MOTION.
MY INSTRUMENT PANEL NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. I CAN NOT TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, READ MY (WHICH AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO GET AN OIL CHANGE ANYWHERE) , AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS IN NEGATIVE TEMPS WITH KIDS IN THE CAR. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO BUY A NEW INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE COST IS OVER $300. ONCE I FINALLY SAVED THE MONEY I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THE PART WAS DISCONTINUED! I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND DISCOVERED I AM ONLY ONE OF HUNDREDS WITH SAME ISSUE!
CAR FIRE. OUR MINIVAN WAS PARKED, THE ENGINE SHUTOFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CAR SAT FOR THREE HOURS IN VERY COLD WEATHER IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. BASED ON THE VIDEOS, IT APPEARS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED SPARKING AND SET THE ENGINE AREA ON FIRE. EVENTUALLY THE CAB WAS ON FIRE AND THE ENTIRE MINIVAN WAS BURNED AND COMPLETELY LOST. IT TOOK 7 MINUTES FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ARRIVE AND AN ADDITIONAL 11 MINUTES FOR THE FIREMEN TO EXTINGUISH THE RAGING FIRE. ALL THIS WAS CAUGHT ON A NEIGHBOR'S SECURITY CAMERA. THE VIDEO FILES ARE OVER 5 MB SO THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD THE VIDEO FILES. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION WE DROVE THE VAN EARLIER IN THE DAY WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

ENGINE CONTROL MODULE [ECM] DUE TO A BAD DESIGN,RAIN AND WATER FROM MELTING SNOW LEAKS ONTO THE ECM AND DESTROYS IT.I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE 2004 QUEST AND THAT NISSAN HAD A SECRET RECALL ON VEHICLES UP TO 8 YEARS OLD.WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED TO 20 MPH,I WAS LUCKY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY.WHY DID NISSAN NOT NOTIFY ALL OWNERS.
DRIVING TO MY KIDS SCHOOL, TO WORK AND THE VAN JUST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY STREET . THE VAN WILL NOT DO ANYTHING . COMPLETELY DEAD. ONLY HAD THE VAN OVER A YEAR AND A HALF.
THE GAUGES FOR THE CURRENT MILEAGE, FUEL, TEMPERATURE ARE ALL GOING IN AND OUT. THIS ISSUE MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE CAR, SO I JUST KEEP PUTTING IN $15-$20 EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS TO KEEP IT FULL (WHERE THE AMOUNT IS ABLE TO BE SEEN). I MAKE SURE THERE IS ANTIFREEZE IN THE RADIATOR AND THE RESERVE BOTTLE AS WELL. KEEP THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY ALSO.
BOUGHT THE 2004 NISSAN QUEST IN JANUARY 2015,FROM A DEALERSHIP OTHER THAN NISSAN, TOLD VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE,THIS IS FROM A NISSAN DEALER,AS WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN I HAD TO TAKE TO AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN PLACE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND SEND THEM THE INFO,NISSAN PLACE SAID THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED BADLY,IF I WERE TO HIT A POTHOLE,IT COULD BREAK AND BE IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT! HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD PARK IT,I'VE ONLY HAD IT SINCE JANUARY OF THIS YEAR,ANOTHER MECHANIC ALSO SAID THAT IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN BOUGHT AS THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN LESS THAN A YEAR,CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND WAS TOLD PRETTY MUCH NOT THEIR PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ON 10/08/2015 - WITHIN 10 DAYS AFTER MY LAST SERVICING THRU NISSAN DEALER I LOST TRANSMISSION ON MY NISSAN QUEST 3.5 SE MODEL YEAR 2004 WITH MILEAGE 110000. IT WAS VERY PAINFUL EXPERIENCE AS VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO TOM WOOD DEALER WHERE ITS BEEN REPLACED AT A VERY HIGH COST FROM MY POCKET THAT I WAS NOT PREPARED. I WAS SURPRIZED ON THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE BUT MORE SURPISE THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT DETECT IT DURING MULTI-POINT INSPECTION CHECK AFTER EVERY OIL CHANGE SERVICING. FOR THE SAKE OF RECORD, I HAVE PERFORMED ALL OF THE QUEST SERVICING (100%) THRU THE DEALER FROM WHERE I BOUGHT THIS VAN INITIALLY. ALSO I HAD REPLACED TRANSMISSION OIL AT 60K MILE SERVICING THAT WAS RECOMMENDED AT THAT TIME. THIS VAN IS WELL MAINTAINED AND STILL GOT THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS A SURPIZE AND RAISES CONCERNS TO THE NISSAN DROPPING QUALITY. ALSO I WAS LOOKING ONLINE AND NOTICED QUEST 2004 HAS THIS PROBLEM, KNOWN FOR BAD TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND CASE REPORTED AGAINST NISSAN USA. MY FAMILY'S 2004 NISSAN QUEST SPONTANEOUSLY STALLED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A TOTAL OF FIVE OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON JULY 9TH, 2015. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON ABOUT JULY 13TH, 2015 IN A PARKING LOT WHILE MOVING AT A LOW SPEED OF NOT MORE THAN TEN MILES AN HOUR BUT EVERY STALLING INCIDENT SINCE THEN WAS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON ROADS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER TEN MILES AND HOUR AND UNDER FIFTY MILES AN HOUR. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN BEFORE STALLING THERE ARE NO SIGNIFICANT INDICATIONS BEFORE HAND TO INDICATE THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE EXCEPT THAT ON THE LAST FEW OCCASIONS WE HAVE NOTICED THAT A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE STALLING THE CHECK ENGINE AND SLIP LIGHTS GLOW. AFTER STALLING THE VEHICLE RESTARTS EITHER ON A FIRST ATTEMPT OR A SECOND ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STALL EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN EITHER. ALTHOUGH I DO NOT HAVE ANY MECHANICAL EXPERTISE, SOME ONLINE RESEARCH INTO THIS MATTER SUGGESTS THAT ON 2004 MODELS, AND FIXED IN LATER MODELS, THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH CORROSION TO THE ECM DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF THE MODULE IN A LOCATION THAT IS SUBJECT TO WATER INTRUSION.
I WAS DRIVING MY VAN AND I CAME TO A STOP ON A HILL AND IT WOULDN'T GO, I HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GO. AND IT WON'T GO IN REVERSE EITHER. I HAD POWER PROBLEMS YEARS AGO BUT TURNING MY VAN OFF AND BACK ON 'FIXED' THE PROBLEM. ALSO THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS.
WHILE DRIVING THE SLIP AND TCS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF. IT RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AUTOZONE AND READS ERROR CODE P0340. AS A RESULT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT EVER COME ON. IT DOES NOT REGISTER THE DIFFERENCE IN WEIGHT BETWEEN A CHILD AND AN ADULT
ALARM BEEPS WHEN SET BUT DOES NOT SOUND IF CAR IS BROKEN INTO. CAR WAS PARKED. POWER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS SHUT WHEN POWER BUTTON IS PUSHED. DOES NOT ALWAYS LOCK AND LATCH AS WELL. DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. ALSO WHEN CLOSING DOES NOT STOP IF SOMEONE IS IN THE WAY. CAUGHT MY FOUR YR OLD DAUGHTER'S LEG AND SHUT ON IT. TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMES ON EVEN WHEN TIRES ARE COMPLETELY AIRED UP. BACK REAR DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS OPEN WHETHER BUTTON INSIDE VAN OR REMOTE KEY IS PUSHED. HAS TO FORCEFULLY BE OPENED AND SHUT. SOMETIMES WILL SLAM SHUT AND IT HAS FALLEN ON MY BACK BEFORE. MANY ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS WITHIN THE DASH AND CONSOLE DO NOT ALWAYS WORK OR REGISTER. DOES NOT REGISTER FOR OIL, COOLANT, OR TEMP. *TR
ATTEMPTING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE. ACCELERATED, BUT RPM'S WENT UP TO 5 OR 6 BUT THE SPEED DID NOT INCREASE. HUSBAND TRIED TO MANUALLY SHIFT, BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO OVERDRIVE. WE PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED. VEHICLE REACTED CORRECTLY TO ACCELERATING WITH JUST A LITTLE SLUGGISHNESS. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CHECKED AND IT WAS FINE. UNFORTUNATELY, DAY TRIP WAS CANCELLED AND CHILDREN WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED, BECAUSE WE WERE AFRAID TO BE TOO FAR FROM HOME AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET BACK.
WHEN WE WENT TO REPLACE THE LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE A SOFTBALL SIZE HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME CAUSED BY RUST WAS DISCOVERED. AS A RESULT OF THE CAR BEING UP ON JACKS, THE SUBFRAME SNAPPED IN HALF. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, WE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE, IN NISSAN QUESTS AND IS CAUSED IN PART BECAUSE OF POOR DRAIN LOCATION FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER. IT IS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS ADDRESSED IT WITH WARRANTIES IN OTHER MODELS, BUT NOT THE QUEST. WHICH, I NOW MUST FORK OUT AT A MINIMUM OF $2,000 TO REPLACE.

THE PROBLEM HAS ESCALATED TO COMPLETELY STALLING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART, BUT THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE TIMING CHAINS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE DISCOVERED CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS IN SOME STATES FOR PREMATURE FAILURE OF TIMING CHAINS ON 2004-2009 NISSAN QUEST, AMONG OTHER MODELS.
HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE 2004 AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. HEARD A LOUD CLUNK WHEN DRIVING AFTER REMOVING FOOT FROM BRAKE AND AFTER GOING OVER BUMPS. TURNED OUT THE METAL SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING CROSSARMS AND BALL JOINT ARE LOOSE BECAUSE OF THIS. IT'S A $4000 REPAIR AND CAR HAS ONLY 120K MILES. HAD TO GET NEW CAR. DEALER SAID IT'S NOT SAFE TO EVEN DRIVE AND NOT WORTH FIXING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE ODOMETER FAILED TO PROVIDE THE READING LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, THE WATER PUMP, AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,681.
