ODOMETER , GAS GAUGE. TEMPERATURE GAUGE, STOPPED WORKING, ON THE LEFT SIDE OF DASH MAKING THE VEHICLE NOT BE ABLE TO PASS INSPECTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS FORCED OUT INTO A FOUR-WAY INTERSECTION. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO IDLING NORMALLY. ON FEBRUARY 9, 2015, WHILE WAITING AT A RESTAURANT DRIVE THRU, THE ENGINE SURGED FORWARD WHILE THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000. THE CONSUMER STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE REVVED, AND LUNGED FORWARD AS HE WAS BRAKING, CAUSING HIM TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN HIM HITTING A HANDICAP PARKING SIGN. THE CONSUMER STATED IN EACH CASE, HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE SURGE CAME WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE CHOKED, BUT DID NOT DIE, AFTER THE INITIAL SURGE, THE ENGINE RETURNED TO BACK TO NORMAL, HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING, AND THE ENGINE WAS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, A RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE NOISE CAME FROM THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE SEAT IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THE SEAT WAS IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
MY BATTERY KEEPS GOING DEAD IF THE VAN SITS MORE THEN A DAY. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BUT HE COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VAN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH DOES NOT WORK. I LOOKED UP COMPLAINTS ON THE COMPUTER AND THEY ARE THE SAME AS MINE. THE ECM HAS RUSTED BECAUSE OF THE PLACEMENT IN THE VAN 2004 THROUGH 2009 ARE IN THE SAME PLACE. I CALLED NISSAN BUT THE SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THAT I COULD NOT BELIEVE EVERY THING I READ ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS BAD BECAUSE NOW I CAN NOT GET MY VAN INSPECTED BECAUSE THE DASH DOES NOT WORK. I NEED MY VAN TO GO TO WORK. IT CUTS OFF FOR NO REASON. I CANNOT TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE. I CAN TELL HOW MANY MILES I HAVE THAT WAS THE SECOND THING THAT WENT. THE FIRST WAS THE RADIO. THEY TOLD ME AT NISSAN THAT I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN MECHANIC BUT I CAN NOT AFFORD $110.00 AN HOUR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE ALL 2004 TO 2009 VAN ARE MADE THIS WAY AND ARE HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. PLEASE HELP. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS ACCELERATING AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A SIGN AND THERE WAS AN EXHAUST PIPE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE PIPE HIT OUR MUFFLER AND AFTER ABOUT 500 YARDS, BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THE CAR ALARM WENT OFF FOR 15-20 MINUTES. AFTER HAVING THE VAN TOWED TO AN AUTOBODY SHOP, THEY COULD ONLY FIND ONE POINT OF IMPACT IN THE MUFFLER. WE SPOKE TO NISSAN AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO KNOWN ISSUES AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. OUR INSURANCE IS NOW TOTALING THE VEHICLE. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR AN ALTERNATOR, MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED ALMOST THROUGH AND DEEMED THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE LOCATED A USED SUBFRAME WITH DIFFICULTY BECAUSE MANY OF THEM WERE LIKE THIS. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME IN THIS VEHICLE. IF IT HAD CRACKED THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA IS UNINTERESTED BECAUSE I DID NOT GO TO THE DEALER. I HAVE THE RUSTED PART. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE, THE MECHANIC INFORMED HER THAT THE SUB FRAME ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY SON AND THE TRANSMISSION LINE SNAPPED. I WAS SCARED BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THANK GOD MY SON WHO IS DISABLED WAS NOT IN THE CAR. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK MY TRANSMISSION IS NOW VERY SICK. I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED ALL FLUID CHANGES AT THE CORRECT TIME. MY CAR IS NOT THE SAME. NOW TODAY MY OIL PAN WAS "EATEN" FROM THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING. I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES WITH MY QUEST. THIS CAR WAS NOT BUILT WITH PROPER PARTS. I CAN'T DRIVE IT BUT I HAVE TO KEEP IT FOR MY SON IS IN A WHEELCHAIR AND IS SEVERLY DISABLED. *JS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SECOND BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE ABS AND THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE SUDENLY STALLED, PULLED OVER AND TRIED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND ENGINE STARTED AGAIN, AFTER THAT THE STALL COTINUES HAPPENING WITH NO SIMPTOMS AT ALL, IT HAPPENS AT ANY TIME AND ANY CONDITION; DURING TRAFFIC DRIVING OR DURING HIGH SPEED DRIVING, DAY OR NIGHT. REALLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE SOME TIMES OTHER DRIVERS HAVE PROBLEMS TO AVOID CRASH WITH MY VAN THAT DOES NOT START AND CAN NOT BE MOVED AWAY. ALL KIND OF REVIEWS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AND NO SUCCESS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ THIS IS A VERY FREQUENT FAILURE FOR NISSAN QUEST VEHICLES; CAN YOU DO ANYTHING TO ASK NISSAN FOR A SOLUTION? DROVE IT TO A PARK ABOUT 1:00 P.M. STAYED THERE TIL ABOUT 3:00 PM GOT HOME PARKED IN FRONT OF HOUSE ON STREET. WENT IN BACK YARD FOR A BBQ ABOUT 20 TO 30 MINUTES LATER NOTICED IT STARTED TO SMOKE UNDER HOOD TOWARD THE REAR OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON PASSENGER SIDE ABOUT WHERE PASS. FEET WOULD BE OR BEHIND GLOVE BOX. WITHIN 5 MINUTES WE HAD FLAMES AND BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPT GOT HERE IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND WENT ON THE HOUSE MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE FLAMES WERE BIG AND THEY WERE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. I HAD JUST DROVE THE CAR ABOUT AN HOUR, THERE WAS NO SMELL NO SOUND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS NOTHING. THE FLAMES WERE BIG AND CAR WENT UP FAST. *TR
SET OF 4 NEW GOODYEAR VIVA 2 TIRES PURCHASED FROM WAL-MART. ONE TIRE FAILED DUE TO SIDEWALL SEPARATION AT 72 MPH. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MOVE FROM MIDDLE LANE TO RIGHT SHOULDER. WAL-MART REPLACED THE TIRE. TIRES HAVE ABOUT 2,900 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TCS AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
AFTER HAVING DRIVEN MY NISSAN QUEST TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THERE WAS A LOUD THUD FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ABLE TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, BUT WHEN I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THERE WAS AGAIN A LOUD THUD. I ACCELERATED AND ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED, THE VAN HARDLY MOVED. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOING 25MPH, BUT WAS GOING ONLY 5MPH. I DISENGAGED THE OVERDRIVE BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER AND ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO 10MPH AND THE ENGINE RPM INDICATED 3500RPM. I PULLED THE VAN OVER TO THE CURB AND CAME TO A STOP. I SHIFTED INTO 3RD GEAR. THERE WASN'T AS LOUD OF A THUD, BUT THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE LURCH FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IN 3RD GEAR TO GET HOME USING SIDESTREETS, HOWEVER, I WAS TURNING 3500 RPM AT 34MPH. THERE HAD BEEN NO INDICATION OF ANY ISSUES ON THE WAY OVER TO MY FRIEND'S HOUSE AND THE MAINTENANCE ON THIS VAN HAS BEEN PRETTY METICULOUS. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL WAS CHECK AFTER I ARRIVED HOME AND THE LEVEL INDICATES THAT IT IS FULL. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SCRAPING NOISE HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE CALIPER, BRAKES, ROTORS, FRONT BRAKE, FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING, PASSENGER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM, AND THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000. UPDATED 06/15/16*LJ
MY VAN INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH A MIL ON THE DASH. AFTER GETTING IT TESTED THE CODE INDICATED AN ISSUE WITH A VENT VALVE P0447. I REPLACED THE SUGGESTED PART AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOCUSED MY ATTENTION ON THE ECM AS IT CONTROLS ALL THE SENSORS IN THE VEHICLE. I REMOVED THE ECM AND NOTICED RUST AND CORROSION RIGHT AWAY. NISSAN DOES NOT CONSIDER IT BE A DEFECT, HOWEVER THE ECM IS MOUNTED UNDER THE LEAF SCREEN WHERE WATER IS SUPPOSED TO DRAIN. UPON REMOVING THE COVER TO THE ECM IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CORROSION FROM THE WATER ATE AWAY AT THE METAL AND CREATED A HOLE IN THE SEALED ECM AND ALLOWED WATER TO GET AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD. MY PROBLEM WAS ONLY 1 SENSOR, BUT IT WON'T PASS REQUIRED EMISSION IN MY STATE. THERE WERE SOME REPORTS OF DRIVABILITY ISSUES BY OTHERS THAT HAD THE DEALER TELL THEM THEY NEED THE ECM REPLACED AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
NO INCIDENT YET. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN SERVICE THAT THE FRONT ENGINE AND SUSPENSION SUPPORT FRAME HAS A HOLE RUSTED THROUGH AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN DESIGN ISSUE. THERE IS NO REASON A HOLE SHOULD FORM IN A FRAME SUPPORT MEMBER IF SAFELY DESIGNED. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR AN AVERAGE VEHICLE OWNER OR NON-NISSAN GARAGE TO NOTICE THIS PROBLEM SO MANY VEHICLES MAY HAVE IT. THE MOST OBVIOUS TIME THE FRAME WOULD BREAK WOULD BE DURING A HIGH SPEED BUMP. IT WOULD BE HAZARDOUS IF THE FRAME BROKE DURING TRAVEL RESULTING IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *TR
2004 NISSAN QUEST. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A FAULTY DESIGN/ INSTALLATION OF ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ECM WAS INSTALLED DIRECTLY UNDER THE WINDSHIELD PLASTIC COWL. THE OPEN MESH COWL WOULD DRAIN ALL THE WATER DIRECTLY ONTO THE ECM. IT WAS HOW WATER DRIPPED ON THE ECM'S ENCLOSURE, THAT CAUSED THE CORROSION PREMATURELY. THE REPAIRMAN EVEN DECIDED NOT TO INSTALL THE REPLACEMENT IN ITS ORIGINAL BRACKET TO AVOID ACCUMULATING MOISTURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN AN OCCUPIED WAS PRESENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMEBR: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
QUEST WILL JERK EXTREMELY HARD AFTER SLOWING DOWN OR LETTING OF ON THE GAS AND THEN RETURNING TO NORMAL SPEED. *TR
AFTER THE MINIVAN IS WARMED UP FOR 15-20 MINUTES THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE I'VE BEEN HIT FORM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DOWN SHIFT TO 1 ST GEAR IT SLIPS AND THE RPM GAUGE MOVES BACK AND FORTH. MECHANICS SHOP HAVE TOLD ME THE SOLENOIDS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TRANSMISSION IS ONLY 108,000 MILES.
ON NOVEMBER 27, 2013, WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE OF MY HOME, MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CAR WITHIN SECONDS WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES, AND THERE WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO BUT GET AS FAR AWAY FROM IT AS POSSIBLE AND HOPE THERE WOULD BE NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES. THE CAR IS TOTALED, AND I NEED ANSWERS AS TO HOW A CAR THAT IS PARKED ALL OF A SUDDEN BURSTS INTO FLAMES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST CUT OFF ON ME AT A STOP SIGN ON OCTOBER 31, 2013. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I COULD SMELL ANTIFREEZE. I HAD IT TOWED TO COWLS NISSAN THAT EVENING. WHEN I GOT TO COWLS NISSAN THEY WERE ABOUT TO CLOSE, BUT I WAS ABLE TO RENT A CAR FROM THEM WHILE MINE WOULD BE GETTING LOOKED AT AND HOPEFULLY FIXED THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT DAY A REPRESENTATIVE FROM COWLS NISSAN CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT THE REAR COOLANT PUMP NEEDED FIXING AND THAT'?S WHY THE CAR CUT OFF AND WOULDN'?T START. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP AND REFILLED IT WITH ANTIFREEZE. I HAD MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS FIXED BECAUSE THEY SAID AS THEY DID A COURTESY MULTIPOINT INSPECTION THE WIPERS WEREN'?T WORKING BECAUSE OF A WIPER LINK ISSUE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE CAR I NOTICED ON THE RECEIPT THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK ISSUE AND AIR FILTER ISSUE THAT WAS DISCOVERED IN THE MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. THEY ALSO NOTED THAT MY TIMING CHAIN WAS NOISY AT STARTUP AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED FURTHER TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. AT NO TIME WAS I TOLD THAT THE CAR WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE. ON NOVEMBER 10, 2013 I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE CAR, OFF AND ON, AND THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO FIX THE HEADLIGHT ON 11/22/2013, BUT I WASN'T HEARING THE HUMMING SOUND THEN. I STARTED HEARING THE HUMMING SOUND AGAIN CLOSE TO THANKSGIVING (11/26/2013) AND PLANNED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN AFTER THE HOLIDAY. *TR
VAN MAKES A RATTLE WHEN RPM'S ARE LOWER THAN 3000. IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN AS I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC. *TR
DRIVING ON A LOCAL SINGLE LANE ROAD IN THE EARLY EVENING (DUSK) AND THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND DRY. THE DRIVERS AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
RATTLING NOISE THAT INCREASES AS I ACCELERATE. I ASSUMED IT WAS PART OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM ONLY TO FIND OUT IT IS A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE WHICH CAN COST AT A MINIMUM OF $1800 FOR LABOR THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE PARTS. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL MECHANICS IN MY AREA AND THEY WON'T EVEN DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE WAY NISSAN HAS PUT THE TIMING CHAIN IN THE 2004 QUEST. *TR
VEHICLE LOST SPEED DRAMATICALLY ON THE ROAD. CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN 10 MPH, NO INCREASE IN RPMS WITH ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED. MECHANIC REPORTS ECM FAILED WHILE DRIVING DUE TO RUST DEVELOPMENT. ECM IS PLACED IN UNPROTECTED LOCATION DIRECTLY UNDER WINDSHIELD DRAIN. NISSAN OFFERS NO FIX. *TR
THE LAST NUMBER ON THE ODOMETER READING IS NOT READABLE. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL CARS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY OPENED A CASE. THE CASE NUMBER IS [XXX]. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, I NOTICED MY VAN WAS HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN I DROVE THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO ALMOST 5000 RPM THEN SHIFTED HARD INTO 2ND GEAR ON MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THEN WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS CONTINUALLY SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO PARK AT MY WORKS PARKING LOT, THE VAN WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE AT ALL. I RESEARCHED THIS AND SEE THAT IT IS A FREQUENTLY VOICED COMPLAINT AND IS HAPPENING VERY PREMATURELY 50 -90 THOUSAND MILES.. RIDICULOUS EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS, ALSO ! MY NISSAN QUEST HAS BEEN MAKING A RATTLING NOISE THAT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. I TOOK IT IN TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A DEALER OR ENGINE SHOP THAT IS EQUIPPED TO FIX SUCH AN ISSUE. ONE OF THE REASONS I FAVORED BUYING THIS CAR WAS BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT NISSAN USES A TIMING CHAIN RATHER THAN A TIMING BELT. THUS, I WOULDN'T HAVE THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING A TIMING BELT IN THE FUTURE. I WAS LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT TIMING CHAINS WOULD NOT BE SOMETHING THAT I WOULD NEED TO FIX. BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS PREVALENT AMONG QUEST OWNERS, I BELIEVE THAT NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEIR VEHICLES THAT SUFFER FROM THE SAME DESIGN FLAW. MY MECHANIC NOTICED SEVERE ROTTING OF RIGHT SIDE OF SUBFRAME WHICH HOLDS THE ENGINE AND OTHER IMPORTANT CAR PARTS IN PLACE. I WAS MADE AWARE THAT IF THE SUBFRAME BROKE, THE ENGINE WOULD FALL OUT AND THE RIGHT WHEEL WOULD SLIDE TO THE SIDE, CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. VERY DANGEROUS, POSSIBLY FATAL. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS FOUND BEFORE SUCH AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. I HAVE FOUND TWO OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SUBFRAME ROTTING OUT. THERE IS A DRIP FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER THAT IS DESIGNED TO FALL RIGHT ON THIS IMPORTANT STRUCTURE AND POOLS THERE. MY FEAR IS THAT OTHERS ARE UNAWARE OF THE STRUCTURAL ISSUE AND COULD NOT BE SO LUCKY TO FIND IT IN TIME BEFORE FATALITY OCCURS. VEHICLE COMING OFF TURNPIKE ENTERING ONTO THE INTERSTATE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 45 MPH ONTO THE INTERSTATE ALMOST RAN OVER BY VEHICLES WHEN I WAS COMING OFF THE RAMP. VERY DANGEROUS. MANAGED TO GET VAN TO A SAFE PLACE WHERE WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR HOME. WE HAD OUR MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE DIAGNOSED IT AS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS NEEDED REPLACING AND IT HAD JUMPED TIME. HE WOULD NOT TOUCH IT SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS YEAR VAN CONCERNING THE TENSIONERS. HAD IT THEN TOWED TO NISSAN AND THEY QUOTED 1700 TO FIX THE MECHANIC EVEN STATED THAT IT IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND HE IS SEEING AT LEAST 1 A WEEK WITH THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. BUT NISSAN WONT ISSUE A RECALL. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOME FATALITIES FOR THEM TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THIS IS SERIOUS. AFTER WORK PERFORMED TO VAN THEY CALLED AND SAID IT IS STILL MISFIRING THAT THEY FOUND VALVE COVER LEAKING OIL ON SPARK PLUGS ANOTHER 600 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS. I JUST REPLACED SPARK PLUGS IN 2010. ALSO REPLACED BRAKES 3 TIMES AND TIRES 2 TIMES NOW. ALTERNATOR ALSO REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS VAN HOPING IT WOULD BE A SAFE AND RELIABLE VAN FOR MY FAMILY TO ENJOY FOR A LONG TIME IT HAS LOW MILES AND I HATE TO GET RID OF IT. I AM AT THE POINT THOUGH THAT I KEEP PUTTING MONEY INTO IT THINKING WE WILL BE ABLE TO BE SAFE AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG. 2004 NISSAN QUEST. CONSUMER STATES SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE POWER WINDOWS AND POWER DOORS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACING THE MOTOR, WHICH WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE. THE CONSUMER DECLINED THE REPAIR. LATER ON, THE WINDOW REVERTED BACK TO ITS PROPER CLOSING PROCEDURE AND OPERATED AS IT WAS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, THE DRIVER'S WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY AND THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON MANUALLY. THE DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY. IT WOULD STOP ABOUT HALF WAY. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PHYSICALLY PUSH THE DOOR CLOSED WHICH LASTED FOR WEEKS. THEN, SUDDENLY THE DOOR BEGAN CLOSING CORRECTLY WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPT AT REPAIR. THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DIDN'T FUNCTION AS IT SHOULD. IT ALL STARTED WHEN THE CONSUMER'S GRANDSON WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE BY PUSHING THE OPEN BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE. AS HE WAS GETTING OUT, THE DOOR REVERSED ITSELF BEFORE IT OPENED COMPLETELY AND BEGAN CLOSING, HITTING HIM AND WOULDN'T STOP AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO WHEN MEETING AN OBJECT. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS ONLY FRIGHTENED, BUT NOT INJURED. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION, SO THE CONSUMER NO LONGER USED IT ANYMORE. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL # 04V186000. HOWEVER, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
A FAMILY TRIP FROM ST AUGUSTINE HEADING SOUTHBOUND ON I-95 TOWARDS W.PALM BEACH 75 MILES INTO JOURNEY THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WITH NO WARNING SIGNS. HAD THIS VAN TOWED TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP 25 MILES AND HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACE. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON PRIOR TO THIS REPAIR. PARTS THAT WAS DEFECTIVE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, IGNITION COIL AND WAS TOLD BY REPAIR SHOP A POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTOR. *TR

I WAS SO SURPRISED BECAUSE I HAVE HAD THIS VAN AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AT LEAST FOUR TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VAN. I FEEL THAT NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TIMING CHAIN DUE TO THE COMMENTS THE SERVICE TECHS WERE MAKING.THIS IS A $3800 REPAIR THAT IS DUE TO POOR DESIGN BY NISSAN, I WAS TOLD THEY PUT THE METAL TIMING CHAIN ON A PLASTIC GUIDE. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR IS INACCURATE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY FUEL UP, IT ONLY INDICATE 3/4 OF A TANK ON THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR. UP ON SUBSEQUENT RESTART OF VEHICLE (2 TIME), THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR FINALLY READ FULL. *TR
