TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RUMBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ALL OF THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
MY CAR ENGINE HAS BEEN MAKING A CLICKING NOISE FOR THE PAST 10,000 MILES AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. ON TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER AT APPROX 95,000 MILES, THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED WITH OTHER INCIDENTALS FOR A COST OF APPROX $3200., $2300 ALONE FOR THE TIMING BELT ASPECT. I DID NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE TIMING CHAIN REPAIR BUT ONLY THE REPAIR OF THE HIGH SPEED STEERING HOSE. I HAVE BEEN REVIEWING THE TIMING CHAIN REPORTS AND IT DEFINITELY SEEM THAT NISSAN HAS A PROBLEM WITH FAILING TIMING CHAINS AND IT DOES SEEM LIKE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND AS SUCH SHOULD BE RECALLED. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NHTSA START AN INVESTIGATION INTO RECALLING ALL THE NISSAN TIMING CHAIN VEHICLES. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATED SLIDING DOOR PLACING A CHILD SEAT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN HER CHILD DEPRESSED THE CLOSE DOOR BUTTON. THE AUTOMATED SLIDING DOOR CLOSED WITHOUT DETECTING THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PATH OF THE DOOR. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SCRATCHES AND BRUISES TO HER LEFT LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THE SLIP WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL WHEN APPLIED. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE LINES AND THE BRAKES BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,081.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AS SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WARNING LIGHTS "SLIP", "TCS OFF" AND "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WOULD INTERMITTENTLY REMAIN ON WELL PAST IGNITION -- USUALLY AFTER THE ENGINE HAD STRUGGLED TO START. DASHBOARD "TCS ON" SWITCH DID NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS. SOMETIMES, EVEN WHEN THE VAN WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 25 TO 55MPH, THESE LIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY POP ON AND THE ENGINE WOULD STALL OUT, DEPRIVING ME OF MOST OF MY STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES WITH TRAFFIC RIGHT BEHIND ME. IN MY AREA, THE MAIN HIGHWAY IS HEAVILY TRAVELED, FULL OF CURVES AND OFTEN NARROWS TO 2 LANES WITH VERY LIMITED SHOULDERS. THE ENGINE DYING UNEXPECTEDLY ON THIS ROAD IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY TO EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE BUT TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS WELL. I AM FREQUENTLY FOLLOWED BY FULLY-LOADED LOGGING TRUCKS AND SEMIS, WHOSE DRIVERS WOULD FIND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT (IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE) TO AVOID HITTING ME, ESPECIALLY IF I WERE IN A SPOT WHERE I COULD NOT COAST ALL THE WAY OFF THE ROAD. AFTER READING NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ENGINE PROBLEM, I WROTE TO NISSAN REPORTING THE DANGER, SUGGESTING A RECALL. (FILE #7197243) THEY REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. TOLD ME TO TAKE MY QUEST TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO WANTED $104 JUST TO HOOK UP THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT, PLUS THE ACTUAL REPAIR COSTS. THE PROBLEM -- A FAULTY CAMSHAFT SENSOR -- WAS SUBSEQUENTLY FIXED BY A LOCAL SHOP. THE MECHANIC THERE TOLD ME THAT THE MECHANICS' "CRYSTAL BALL" HOTLINE WAS REPORTING FREQUENT FAILURES OF THIS COMPONENT -- IN ADDITION TO A TSB NISSAN PUT OUT ON THE PROBLEM. (SO, THEY ARE AWARE!) GIVEN THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS SENSOR FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THEIR ENGINES, SHOULDN'T THE COMPANY ADDRESS THE HIGH FAILURE RATE OF THE ONES INSTALLED IN THEIR VEHICLES, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE? I HOPE YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST AS A RESULT OF NISSAN'S REFUSAL TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND DEAL WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST BEGAN SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING, EVEN AT SIGNIFICANT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, REQUIRING THE VEHICLE TO BE PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED. VEHICLE HAS 69,923 MILES AT THE TIME IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CORRODED ENGINE CONTROL MODULE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I NOW UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE MORE OF A DESIGN FLAW THAN AN "ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR" AS NISSAN CALLS IT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. I DID NOT EXPECT A $1,500.00 REPAIR BILL NOR DID I EXPECT SUCH A COMPROMISE TO MY FAMILIES SAFETY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT JUST SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING, NO POWER, NO ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE!!! I WAS LUCKY. *TR
THERE IS AN AWFUL TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. MY CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED MY NISSAN REPEATEDLY AND IT'S STILL MAKING THE NOISES. NOW I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN. AFTER READING UP ON THIS ISSUE IT'S APPARENT THAT THERE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS PART IN THE NISSAN QUESTS. *TR
THE CAR HAD BEEN EXHIBITNG VARIOUS LIGHT WARNINGS. THE CAR WAS CHECKED AND THE LIGHT INDICATORS WERE NOT CORRECT. NO PROBLEMS WERE EVIDENT. I PARKED THE CAR IN FRONT OF MY HOME. TWO HOURS AFTER PARING THE CAR IT BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. THE HARNESS BURNED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR. IT IS DUE TO A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE THAT PUT ME AND MY PROPERTY IN POTENTIAL HARMS WAY. THIS REPORT IS FILED IN AN EFFORT TO PROTECT OTHER NISSAN OWNERS AND TO ALERT THE COMPANY OF A DESIGN FLAW,
THERE IS A LOUD, ANNOYING AND DANGEROUS RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE MOTOR. BASED ON WHAT SEEMS LIKE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS AND MANY OPINIONS FROM VERY EXPERIENCED MECHANICS, IT IS THE TIMING CHAIN - THE WHOLE THING- FROM THE CHAIN, TENSIONERS AND EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENTIRE TIMING CHAIN MECHANISM. THIS IS ABSURDLY ANNOYING, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND OUTRAGEOUSLY LABOR INTENSIVE AND EXPENSIVE TO FIX. I, LIKE SO MANY OTHERS OUT THERE, PUT MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE ON A DAILY BASIS AND HAVE TO WONDER JUST HOW SAFE THIS THING IS. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CHAIN BREAKS? WHAT HAPPENS IF IT BREAKS WHILE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY? I JUST HAD MY FAMILY TO FLORIDA THIS SUMMER - CAN'T IMAGINE THAT SCENARIO. AT A REGULAR DEALER VISIT FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN GUIDE ON MY 04 NISSAN QUEST. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1800. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE WITH 04 QUESTS AND IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN BETWEEN 60 -90,000 MILES (MINE IS JUST OVER 80,000). LOUD RATTLING IN MY ENGINE WHEN I START MY VAN AND WHEN I DRIVE THROUGH TOWN. VERY EMBARRASSING! MECHANIC THINKS IT IS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS IN THE ENGINE THAT IS GOING TO COST OVER $3,500. I ONLY HAVE 94,000 MILES ON THE VAN SO IT SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS! *TR
VAN DRIVING ODD, DEALER FOUND THAT ENGINE MOUNT WAS BROKE. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE MOUNT SAYING IT WAS SERIOUS ISSUE AND SEEN OFTEN IN NISSANS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 25 MPH SHE NOTICED THAT IN BECAME DIFFICULT TO SHIFT GEARS. ALSO, WHEN SHE TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHER SPEEDS THERE WAS HESITATION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN INSPECTED BY A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT IT MAY BE A VALVE INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
NISSAN 2004 QUEST, WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING LEFT IN INTERSECTION VAN DIES. TAKE IT IN TO NSSAN DEALERSHIP AND UNABLE TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC TEST DUE TO ENGINE NOT RUNNING. THEY BELIEVE ITS A TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM AND NEED TO OPEN ENGINE.OTHER CONSUMER REPORTS WITH PROBLEMS WITH TIMING BELTS. WE'RE A FAMILY OF SEVEN, IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE ON FREEWAY MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE HAD FATALITIES INVOLVED. NISSAN REFUSES TO PRACTICE ANY GOODWILL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. *TR
TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER BROKE CAUSING TIMING CHAIN TO RATTLE LOUDLY. NISSAN SAID THE REPAIR WOULD BE ABOUT $2,400.00. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN 3.5 ENGINE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL. *JS
THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDES (TEFLON BASED MATERIAL) IN THE VQ35 ENGINES WERE PREMATURELY CAUSING AUDIBLE RUBBING AND BANGING UPON START UP AND EARLY WARM UP IDLE CONDITIONS. THIS PREMATURE WEAR OF THE TENSION GUIDES IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAS UNDO SLACK FROM EARLY DEGRADATION OF TENSION GUIDES WHICH MAY CAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN TO WEAR/BREAK PREMATURELY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY AND PUT THE LIVES OF THE VEHICLES OCCUPANTS IN DANGER OF POSSIBLY BEING STRUCK MY ONCOMING VEHICLES. *LN
FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ ACCURATELY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. CAR WILL NOT PASS THE STATE OF CT DMV EMISSION PROGRAM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LED LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MALFUNCTIONED AND NONE OF THE READINGS COULD BE SEEN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, THE MILEAGE COULD NOT BE RETRIEVED TO TRANSFER INTO THE NEW CLUSTER. THE DEALER STATED IN ORDER TO KNOW THE TRUE ACCUMULATED MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER COULD NOT BE CHANGED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THERE ARE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTER/TRANSMISSION ON MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST VAN. THE PROBLEMS STARTED A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THE VAN WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO REVERSE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO PULL FORCEFULLY ON THE SHIFTER TO MAKE IT SHIFT. IT DID SHIFT BUT THIS HAS CONTINUED TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF DEALING WITH THIS, THE SHIFTER STARTED TO NOT ENGAGE IN THE CORRECT POSITION INDICATED ON THE DASH AND I WOULD HAVE TO PLAY AROUND WITH IT TO GET IT TO ENGAGE IN THE CORRECT GEAR (IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS IN DRIVE ACCORDING TO THE BASE OF THE SHIFTER, BUT WAS ACTUALLY STILL IN NEUTRAL). THERE WERE OTHER SYMPTOMS SUCH AS HAVING TO PUSH THE SHIFTER FIRMLY IN TO PARK TO REMOVE THE KEY. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY AND I FINALLY DISCOVERED WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING. I WENT TO SHIFT IN REVERSE ON AN INCLINE AND HAD TO VERY FORCEFULLY PULL THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE. AFTER DOING SO, THE DASH AND THE BASE OF THE SHIFTER ARE MISMATCHED BY A WHOLE GEAR. *TR
DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST WITH APPROX 61000 MILES AT 55 MPH ON LOCAL HIGHWAY WHEN IT SOUNDED LIKE THE SIDE OF CAR WAS HIT. I PULLED OVER AND FOUND MY PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR RAIL COVER, A PIECE (~4FT BY 5 TO 8 INCHES) HAD NEARLY COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE CAR EXCEPT FOR BENT BACK BRACKET. I COULD NOT REMOVE (PIECE WEDGE INTO TAIL LIGHT) SO I PUSHED IT IN AS BEST AS POSSIBLE AND DROVE HOME. VERY FORTUNATE THE PIECE DID NOT DETACH COMPLETELY AND HIT THE VEHICLE BEHIND. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE, MAYBE EVEN HURT SOMEONE. I FOUND OTHER REPORTS OF THIS SAFETY/DESIGN PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH 2004 QUEST. THE METAL COVER WAS BENT, THE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY CRACKED AROUND THE EDGE AND SOME NASTY SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT. THIS PIECE IS ATTACHED BY SMALL PLASTIC GROMMET CLIPS THAT SEEM BRITTLE. POORLY DESIGNED SINCE THE REAR IS ATTACHED UNDER THE TAILLIGHT AND THE FRONT WITH PLASTIC CLIPS. IF THEY WOULD HAVE PUT THE METAL TAB IN THE FRONT ALSO THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN KENNESAW,GA AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $700 TO FIX AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED AS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AND THEY DRAGGED THEIR FEET FOR A FEW DAYS AND CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD ASSIST IN ANY WAY DUE TO BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. IT IS A REAL SHAME BECAUSE I HAVE HAD 2 NISSANS PREVIOUSLY (TRUCKS) AND I WILL PROBABLY NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. CORPORATE WAS VERY COLD AND SHORT, ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MIND. *TR
I OWNED A NISSAN QUEST 2004 3.5 SL THAT HAS 66,556 MILES, I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS CAR UNTIL LAST SEPTEMBER, WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE MY NISSAN WILL BRAKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BELTWAY OR STALL IF I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE WILL DIE COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING SIGNS, I TOOK THIS CAR TO THE DEALER PASSPORT NISSAN OF ALEXANDRIA VA FOR THE 3RD TIME YESTERDAY BECAUSE MY VAN KEEP STALLING ANY TIME I DRIVE UNDER 5MPH OR BRAKE TO A STOP. THIS AFTER I WAS TOLD FOR 2ND TIME THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM IN A MESSAGE THEY LEFT ME SAYING 'WE WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND FIXED, WE HAD TO RE-PROGRAM THE ENGINE IDLE, THAT IS FIXED WE DROVE IT MANY TIMES TODAY AND DEFINITELY IS FIXED'. BUT WHEN I DROVE IT BACK THE NEXT MORNING TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL MY NISSAN KEPT STALLING AND GOT WORSE BECAUSE NOW THE ACCELERATOR IS SHAKING THE CAR WHENEVER I NEED TO SPEED UP. FRUSTRATED AGAIN I CALLED THE TECHNICIAN TO LET HIM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND HE TOLD ME THIS'THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WE CAN DO, WE CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, AND MY ADVISE TO YOU IS TO BUY ANOTHER CAR!!' I ALSO GOT A NOTE FROM THE SAME TECHNICIAN SAYING THIS 'NO DTC'S, WE ARE UNABLE TO DUPLOC CUSTOMER'S STALLING ISSUE. RECOMMEND TRYING ANOTHER NISSAN DEALER FOR 2ND OPINION'. MY HUSBAND ASKED THEM, WHY IN LESS THAN 24HRS THEIR MESSAGE HAD CHANGED FROM FIXED TO THIS? THEY HAVE NO ANSWERS TO THIS QUESTIONS AND SINCE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE I LEFT MY VAN PARKED AT THE DEALER PASSPORT NISSAN OF ALEXANDRIA VA. *TR
WE WERE NORTHBOUND IN MOTION JUST LEAVING A LIGHT CONTROLLED INTERSECTION, ON A GREEN, WHEN STRUCK EXTREMELY HARD ON DRIVER SIDE. WE WERE IN MOTION AND OTHER PERSON ATTEMPTED TO COME FROM WESTSIDE EXITING A BAKERY, MID STREET, TO MAKE LEFT TURN AND HEAD SAME DIRECTION AS US (NORTHBOUND) BUT FAILED. OTHER DRIVER SAID TWO VEHICLES STOPPED AND WAIVED HER OUT. SHE SPED ACROSS TWO SOUTHBOUND LANES, DID NOT STOP IN THE TURNING MERGING LANE, KEPT GOING STRAIGHT ACROSS THOSE 3 LANES, HER FRONT END STRUCK DRIVER SIDE DOOR TRAVELING DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF OUR MINIVAN, CRUSHED MIDDLE DOOR THE HARDEST ,TO DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL. WE NEVER SAW HER. DAMAGES TOTALED $4,784.39. VEHICLE TOWED TO CERRITOS NISSAN BODY SHOP, FROM LAKE ELSINORE. IMPACT SEVERE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED WARNING THE SIDE DOOR OPEN. THE PROBLEM IS, REPAIRS COMPLETED ON 9/28/11, WE GO TO PICK UP VEHICLE, WHEN WE ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE, WE SEE THE ODOMETER INDICATOR AND FUEL GAUGE NOT DISPLAYING ANY NUMBERS. BOTH GAUGES WORKING FINE, PRIOR TO ACCIDENT. BODYSHOP TOOK A PICTURE UPON THE VEHICLE'S ARRIVAL OF THE DISPLAY PANEL DOCUMENTING MILEAGE AND FUEL. 2004 NISSAN QUEST VAN - I WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN HAD NO POWER IT JUST SLOWED DOWN, THE STEERING FROZE AND IT STALLED IN MID-TRAFFIC. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH NOTICE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WORSE OF ALL, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK I SLAMMED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND LOOKED FOR A CURB TO COAST INTO AND STOP. I TOOK THE VAN IN TO THE DEALER. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY WITH A NEW ONE IT TOOK THEM OVER 6 HOURS - THE MECHANIC RETURNED AND SAID THE NEW THROTTLE BODY WOULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM, SO HE TOOK OUT THE NEW THROTTLE BODY AND PUT MY OLD ONE BACK IN. NOW I'M BEING TOLD IT IS POSSIBLY THE ECM NOT SENDING POWER TO THE FUEL INJECTOR. AS I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS CAUSED BY THE COMPUTER GETTING CORRODED FROM THE LOCATION DUE TO A POOR SEAL LEADING IT TO GIVE OUT ANYTIME. IT COSTS AROUND $1200. WE BOUGHT TWO NEW BALL JOINTS, AND UPON REMOVING THE CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY, WE REALIZED THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE REAR BUSHING OF THE FRONT CONTROL ARM, NOT THE BALL JOINT. I FEEL THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THIS, SINCE I HAVE NOTICED THIS IS AN EXTREMEMLY REOCCURING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL. UPON REPLACING THE TIRES, THE NEW ONES TREADS ARE LIFTING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ECM FAILED AND STALLED THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DID NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT PAID $1,300 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ECM FAILED DUE TO CORROSION BUILD-UP. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,403.
MY VAN HAD THE RED KEY WARNING LIGHT GO ON AND SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL BURNING. I HAD IT TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO A NISSAN DEALER KELLY NISSAN LYNNFIELD MA. THEY DID CHECK THE BULLETINS UNTIL AFTER TEST DRIVING IT TWICE AND BURNING OUT THE IGNITION COILS THEY JUST REPLACED AND BURNED OUT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER (THEY PUT A NEW ONE ON WITHOUT REPORTING IT) THEY WERE ADVISED IN WRITING NOT TO DO ANY WORK EXCEPT REPLACE THE COILS THEY SAID THEY BURNED OUT AND ONLY THEN AT NO COST TO ME. THEY REPLACED MORE THAN WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN, CHARGED ME AND WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT AND RUINED THE CONVERTER IT SUCKED UP DEBRIS INTO THE ENGINE AND DESTROYED MY ENGINE. CALLED CORPORATE NISSAN WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ( AFTER THEY GAVE A 300.00 COUPON BECAUSE OF THE DECEPTION PRIOR TO FINDING OUT ABOUT THE DAMAGED ENGINE). IT ALL STARTED FROM A LOOSE GROUND WIRE THAT CAUSED THE COILS TO OVERWORK AND BURNED OUT. I ENDED UP PAYING ABOUT $900 FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THE MISDIAGNOSED AND DAMAGED PARTS, NOW THE ENGINE IS ESTIMATED AT 6800. TO REPLACE. I M DISABLED AND BARELY ABLE TO AFFORD THE ROOF OVER MY HEAD AND FOOD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR, NISS SAYS THE DEALERS ARE INDEPENDANTLY OWNED, YET THEY L HAVE THE SAME MAKER. I KEPT THE COILS THEY PUT IN HOWEVER THEY REMOVED A BOX WITH THE FIRST REPLACED ONES AND DID TO PUT THEM ALL BACK FOR ME AS INSTRUCTED. I HAVE TWO TECHNICIANS ONE A NISSAN TECH WHO SAYS IT IS DIRECTLY DUE TO KELLY NISSAN'S MISDIAGNOSIS AND DRIVING OF THE CAR TO THE POINT OF BURNING UP THE PARTS. WHAT DOES A CONSUMER NEED TO DO TO PROTECT THEMSELVES? THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ALL PARTS EXCEPT THE CONVERTER THEY ALSO KEPT AND THE INITIAL COILS I HAVE. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP I USED AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY FROM FIRST TIME DRIVEN STILL IN DEALER LOT, THEY COULD TO FIND PROBLEM ALTHOUGH HEARD SOUND FROM ENGINE AND READ THE MISFIRE CODES UNTIL SECOND LOOK AFTER IT STARTED POURING SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST AND SOUND BECAME SO BAD AND CAR WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

I BOUGHT A NISSAN QUEST 2004 VAN FROM BROAD STREET HONDA DEALER AT RICHMOND IT HAS SERIOUS DOOR PROBLEM WHICH WAS NOT LOCKING COMPLETELY AND IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT SAVE FOR MY THREE CHILDREN. I TOOK THE VAN TO THEM AND THE DON'T WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN IT IS UNDER THEIR WARRANTY FOR 3000 MILE OR THREE MONTHS EVEN I ALSO BOUGHT FROM THEM AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT IS USELESS THEY SAID EVEN I PAID 14000 DOLLARS OF IT. THEY SIMPLY WANT ME TO GIVE THE CAR TO THEM BELLOW THE PRICE I BOUGHT FROM THEM. I BELIEVE IT IS FRAUD A CLEAR FRAUD. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
