TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BUT THE NOISE WOULD CEASE ONCE HE BEGAN DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAS HEARD THE NOISE FOR OVER A YEAR. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
THE BAD CONNECTION TO THE DASH LIGHTS I THINK INVOLVE THE OVERDRIVE ON & OFF, SIDE DOOR OPENING AND BACK DOOR (NO PROBLEM WITH BACK DOOR YET). THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT LEFT ASSEMBLY LOCATED AT THE TIRE. I MAKE A SHARP RIGHT TO TRANSFER THE WEIGHT TO THE LEFT AND I GET A BAD VIBRATION. SOMETHING IS LOOSE OR BAD BEARINGS. I TOLD NISSAN OF SMITHTOWN LOCATED IN LONG ISLAND,NY ABOUT THE PROBLEM ALL THEY SAID WAS "OK". THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME A APPOINTMENT TO COME IN. BUT NISSAN OF SMITHTOWN DID CHARGE ME $90( UNDER WARR.) TO HAVE THE SLIPPING TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT. NOW THEY HAVE LAW SUITS FOR OTHER THINGS THEY DID FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE. I LIKE TO HAVE MY CASH BACK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE SLIDING DOORS OPENED AUTOMATICALLY. THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL WOULD NOT CLOSE THE DOORS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V186000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH). THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 75,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FOLLOWED BY AN EXTREMELY LOW POWER RESPONSE. THE RPM'S SUDDENLY INCREASED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ERRATIC SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS AND HESITATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BE FLUSHED, ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST (WITH APPROX 60500 MILES) AT 55 MPH ON LOCAL HIGHWAY WHEN IT SOUNDED LIKE THE SIDE OF CAR WAS HIT. I PULLED INTO THE NEAREST GAS STATION AND FOUND THAT MY PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR RAIL COVER SIDING PIECE (~4FT BY 8 INCHES) HAD NEARLY COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE CAR EXCEPT FOR BENT BACK BRACKET. I COULD NOT REMOVE (PIECE WEDGE INTO TAIL LIGHT) SO I PUSHED IT IN AS BEST AS POSSIBLE AND DROVE 20 MILES HOME. THE PIECE FELL OFF COMPLETELY IN DRIVEWAY WHEN I OPENED PASSENGER DOOR. I AM VERY FORTUNATE THE PIECE DID NOT DETACH COMPLETELY AND HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME WHEN I WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH. I GOOGLED AND FOUND 2 OTHER REPORTS OF THIS SAFETY/DESIGN PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH 2004 QUEST. OTHER THAN THE SINGLE BENT BRACKET AND A BIT OF CHIPPED PAINT ON THE EDGE THAT HAS WEDGED UNDER THE TAIL LIGHT--THIS PIECE AND MY CAR SHOW NO OTHER SIGNS OF DAMAGE. I WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING--SO EITHER THIS PIECE WAS NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED OR THE ATTACHMENT IS NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED. *TR
CLARION AUDIO, NO SOUND. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE THE RADIO DISPLAY AND CONTROLS WORK PROPERLY BUT THERE IS NO SOUND COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT'S SON PULLED THE SEAT BELT ACROSS HIS CHEST AND SIMULTANEOUSLY ATTEMPTED TO TURN HIS BODY, WHICH RESULTED IN THE SEAT BELT WRAPPING AROUND HIS NECK. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT AND NOTICED THAT IT HAD LOCKED, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR HER TO RELEASE THE CHILD. THE CHILD WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BE RELEASED AND SUSTAINED BRUISING AROUND HIS NECK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,111.
OUR 2004 NISSAN QUEST WHICH WE PURCHASED NEW IS RUSTING AROUND THE SUN ROOF. WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE VAN. FOR A VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT, I BELIEVE RUST IN THIS LOCATION IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN MY DEALER SAID HE WOULD NOT COVER FIXING THE RUST, I TOOK THE VAN TO A BODY SHOP, AND THE OWNER WAS SO APPALLED BY THE RUST, THAT HE CALLED A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALER, WHO AGREED AND RECOMMENDED WE FILE A CLAIM TO NISSAN'S CLAIM OFFICE. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, AND HAVING TO TAKE THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, THE CLAIMS OFFICE STATED THAT SINCE THE VAN IS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT IS NOT COVERED. MY CLAIM NUMBER WITH NISSAN IS 6336483. *TR
WAS TOLD ON 6/28/08 THAT MY QUEST NEEDED A NEW "BRAIN" FOR THE COMPUTER AND THIS IS WHAT WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT GO OUT OF SECOND GEAR. WE ARE STILL WAITING ON THE PART AND NISSAN USA HAS NO ANSWERS FOR WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN. THEY HAVE REFUSED US A RENTAL BECAUSE IT IS NOT THEIR POLICY BECAUSE THE 5/60 WARRANTY IS OUT, BUT THE PART TO THE ENGINE IS UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE - THE TRANSMISSION OFTEN SLIPS AS WELL AS PROVIDES NO ACCELERATION MOST OF THE TIME. *TR
VAN WAS IN SERVICE TO REPAIR A BROKEN CD PLAYER. DURING THE VISIT, THE DEALER PERFORMED A FREE 21 POINT INSPECTION, AND FOUND EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE BRAKE PADS. THE BRAKE PADS WERE CHANGED AND ROTORS RESURFACED 6,000 MILES AGO. THE VAN HAS ONLY 21,000 MILES. THIS IS THE THIRD SET OF BRAKE PADS THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, ROTORS WERE RESURFACED TWICE AND REPLACED INITIALLY AT 4,000 MILES. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE AT 4,000 MILES WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND INCIDENT, WHICH OCCURRED AT 15,000 WAS NOT COVERED, CITING THAT IT WAS A WEAR ITEM. THE RECENT OCCURRENCE AT 21000 MILES WHICH REQUIRED NEW SET OF PADS AND RESURFACING OF THE ROTOR WAS TAKEN CARE BY THE DEALER AS A GOODWILL GESTURE. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE CONCERNS OF PUBLIC SAFETY. PROPER AGENCY SHOULD ALSO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER FURTHER, BECAUSE IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
2004 NISSAN QUEST LE HAS HAD THE "VDC OFF" WARNING LIGHT COME ON PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS, WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. VDC IS THE VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGNED TO ASSIST DRIVER WITH CONTROL AND STABILITY OF VEHICLE DURING SLIPS OR SWERVES WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAD DIFFICULTY DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM BUT A RECENT VISIT ON 7/28/08 PRESENTED ME WITH AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE ABS ACTUATOR. DEALER SURMISED THAT WHEN I SAID WE WERE BEING FOLLOWED IN TRAFFIC LAST WEEK AND WERE TOLD WE HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS, THAT WAS A RESULT OF THE VDC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT COMING ON. ALTHOUGH I AM NOT YET AWARE OF ADDITIONAL SAFETY HAZARDS, THE LACK OF BRAKE LIGHTS SEEMS SIGNIFICANT. CONSULTATION TO THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR ADVICE ON VDC OFF WARNING LIGHT GAVE ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION OF THE BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE AS A RESULT. *TR
IN DECEMBER OF 2006 WE PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE. THE FIRST YEAR WAS NOT ENTIRELY TROUBLE FREE, THE DRIVERS SEAT WOULD SELF ADJUST WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER FIXED IT NO CHARGE. THE IN DECEMBER OF 07 THE TRANS WENT OUT, AGAIN THE DEALER COVERED IT AT NO CHARGE, GAVE US A LOANER AND WERE DONE WITHIN A WEEK. EXCEPT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OF NOT HAVING OUR VAN WE WERE FINE UNTIL NOW!!! IN JUNE OF 08 WE WERE GOING FOR A SUNDAY DRIVE AND THE VAN JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. NOTHING WOULD WORK NOTHING, NO POWER ANYWHERE. WE CALLED ROAD SIDE AND ALL THEY COULD DO WAS TOW US TO AL PIEMONTE NISSAN IN MELROSE PARK, IL. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, THE DEALER CALLS AND TELLS US THE ECU IS BURNT OUT, AND HAS SOME CORROSION. IT'S COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO NO NEED TO FAR RIGHT!!! A WEEK LATER WE FINALLY GET A LOANER, OK NOT TOO BAD. TWO MONTHS GO BY AND WE FINALLY HAVE WORD THAT WE HAVE A DATE WHEN THE PART WILL ARRIVE!!!!! THE PART GETS INSTALLED BUT THE VAN RUNS LIKE CRAP "OMG YOU MEAN THEY ACTUALLY TESTED IT"!!!! THEY NOW ARE REPLACING A CRACKED DISTRIBUTOR, GOD ONLY KNOWS HOW THAT HAPPENED!!!! THE DEALR DOES NOT CHARGE US FOR THAT, BUT THE VAN STILL RUNS LIKE CRAP SO NOW THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THREE OF THE 6 COILS AND WELL WE HAD TO PAY OVER $800 BUCKS FOR THAT. TOTALLY NOT EXPECTING THAT WE HAD TO CHARGE IT, PUTTING US IN THE HOLE EVEN DEEPER. YOU KNOW WE HAVEN'T SPENT ALOT OF $ ON THIS CAR BUT FOR A 4 YEAR OLD CAR IT SURE HAS HAD ALOT OF MAJOR COMPONENTS REPLACED. THE THE FREAKING DEALER DOESN'T TEST THE CAR, SO WE LEAVE AND THE REMOTES, DOORS, SUNROOF, WINDOWS DON'T WORK. THE CENTER COUNSIL IS FALLING APART AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN CLEAN THE '!@#$% CAR. I TAKE IT BACK, RIP THE MANAGER A NEW ONE, HE GIVES ME A LOANER AGAIN AND I'M BACK THE NEXT DAY TO PICK UP MY VAN, NOW THEY CLEAN IT. IT'S BEEN A FEW WEEKS NOW AND THE VAN IS FINE BUT I OFTEN THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE!!!!! *TR
I AM AN OWNER OF A NISSAN QUEST WHICH WAS PURCHASED ONLY 4 YEARS AGO. AT 100, 000 MILES A PORTION OF THE MAIN COMPUTER IS GONE, LEAVING THE CAR INOPERABLE. THE ENTIRE CASING WAS CORRODED IMPAIRING THE COMPUTER. A PART WAS ORDERED BY A NISSAN DEALER THROUGH MY MECHANIC.. INITIALLY WE WERE TOLD THE PART WOULD ARRIVE IN EARLY JUNE (THE ORIGINAL WAS ORDERED ABOUT MAY 23RD 2008) WE WERE THEN TOLD A FEW MORE DAYS...AND THEN JUNE 10TH, THE LATEST BEING JUNE 17TH ARRIVING AT THE MECHANIC. ON THE 19TH I CALLED NISSAN VILLAGE AND WAS TOLD THE PART WOULD ARRIVE JULY 10TH. AND THEY STILL CANNOT GUARANTEE THIS. I AM A MOM OF THREE KIDS, AGES 5, 4, AND 7 MONTHS. I WORK FULL TIME AND HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH NOTHING TO DRIVE. WE HAD A RENTAL FOR 18 DAYS AT A COST OF 850 UNTIL I NO LONGER COULD AFFORD IT. SINCE THIS MATTER, I HAVE DEALT WITH NISSAN USA, SEVERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS, AND NOT ONE PERSON AT NISSAN, ATTEMPTED TO SHARE WITH MY WHY A 37,000 DOLLAR CAR AFTER 4 YEARS IS INOPERABLE, BUT EVEN WORSE WHY ITS TAKEN 2 MONTHS TO GET A PART IN. IT IS TRULY UNHEARD OF- PEOPLE AROUND ME ARE JUST AMAZED. I REALLY JUST WANT ANSWERS- IS THIS A PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED? CORROSION AFTER 4 YEARS NORMAL? A PART MORE THAN 2 MONTHS??? 5/10/08-JUST HAD A FRONT END COLLISION IN OUR 2004 NISSAN QUEST MINIVAN CARRYING MYSELF, HUSBAND & 3 CHILDREN-ONE IN A CARSEAT. DRIVER IN OTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD TO MY RIGHT OF WAY AND IMPACT WAS MADE BY MY VAN TO THE SIDE OF HER CAR WITH ME GOING APPROX. 35MPH AND SHE WAS GOING ABOUT THE SAME. MY BODY CAME FORWARD EVEN WITH THE SEATBELT BUCKLED, MY SONS CHESTS ARE BRUISED FROM THE SEATBELTS AND NONE...NONE...OF THE AIRBAGS IN THAT VAN DEPLOYED!!! WE BOUGHT THE VAN FOR SAFETY REASONS! WE PURCHASED IT BECAUSE OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS & NOT EVEN THE FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED! I WANT THIS LOOKED INTO AND I WANT SOME ANSWERS AS TO WHY THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY. WERE THERE EVEN AIRBAGS IN THE VAN? OBVIOUSLY WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE DAMAGE IN DAYLIGHT HOURS, BUT AT THOSE SPEEDS AND SINCE WE HIT HEAD ON AT THE VERY LEAST THE AIRBAGS IN FRONT SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN QUEST S. IN NOVEMBER 2007 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO COMPLAIN THAT EVERY TIME I START MY VAN IT BLOWS OUT WHITE SMOKE. I HAD ABOUT 58,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE VAN USED FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 60,000 MILES. THE MECHANICS ADVISED ME TO PUT IN SOME NO SMOKE/ NO LEAK INTO THE OIL AND I SHOULD BE FINE. SO, BECAUSE THESE ARE PROFESSIONALS, I LISTEN. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED SO I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED. I NOW HAD 61,000 MILES. I TOOK IN MY VAN AND THEY KEPT IT ALL DAY. THEY CALLED TO SAY THEY NEEDED EVERY RECEIPT OF OIL CHANGES, TO PROVE I KEPT UP THE MAINTENANCE. THEY SAID I HAVE A SLUDGED MOTOR AND NEED A NEW ENGINE. NISSAN WILL NOT HELP ME BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECORD OF ME CALLING BEFORE MY WARRANTY WAS UP AND THEY SAID IT WAS LACK OF MAINTENANCE, NOT COVERED. EVEN THOUGH I GAVE A YEARS WORTH OF OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS. ALSO, THEY NEVER ACTUALLY RAN A DIAGNOSIS TEST ON MY VAN. THEY JUST USED THEIR EXPERTISE, AND EXPERIENCE TO COME UP WITH A SLUDGED MOTOR. LATER MY VAN STARTS VIBRATING QUITE BADLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, SO I TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAYS I HAVE A MISFIRE, AND A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. (THEY ALSO SAY THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE SLUDGED MOTOR). I REPLACE THE SPARK PLUG 250.00 LATER. I CALL NISSAN AGAIN AND SAY WHAT I HAVE BEEN OLD ONLY TO BE TOLD IT STILL WOULD NOT BE COVERED, THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THAT IT ISN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE VAN WAS KEPT UP BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. I FEEL THAT IF I BUY A CERTIFIED PREOWNED VEHICLE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PUTTING IN A NEW ENGINE. THEY SAID IF I DIDN'T LIKE THEIR SERVICE I SHOULD CONTACT THE BBB. I FEEL THIS IS UNETHICAL, AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY WILL NOT HELP WITH ANYTHING AND MEANWHILE, I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENT ON THIS VAN. THEY QUOTED ME 5,000.00 FOE A USED MOTOR AND IT WOULD ONLY HAVE A 90 DAY WARRANTY. *TR
CAR VIBRATES BADLY WHILE BRAKING. HAS BEEN TO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR PROBLEM BUT NOT FIXED. *TR
BETWEEN THE DATES OF FEB 10-17, 2008; MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST MINIVAN BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE TCS, SLIP, AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH AND A HUMMING NOISE WAS COMING FROM MY ENGINE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (WERE I PURCHASED IT FROM), AND AS I PULLED INTO THE LOT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF (FEB 28). THE SERVICE REP. TOLD ME THE INFORMATION SHOULD BE STORED IN MY VAN'S COMPUTER SYSTEM. I PAID $97.40 FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO HOOK MY CAR UP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT ABS SYSTEM PUMP AND MODULE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1790. THE SERVICE REP ALSO TOLD ME THAT WHAT EVER WAS CAUSING THE HUMMING NOISE WOULD BE REPAIRED. ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX, BECAUSE ON MY WAY BACK HOME THE NOISE STARTED AGAIN. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONAL BUT MY ABS UNIT DID NOT AFFECT MY NORMAL BRAKES. UNTIL I COULD HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE, AND WITH NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY VAN. I CALLED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK IF THERE WAS ANYWAY FOR THEM TO DISCONNECT THE ABS SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS CONTINUING TO DRAIN MY BATTERY. AND I WAS TOLD NO, THE ONLY WAY WAS TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE. ON MARCH 8, I PART MY VAN AND THREE HOURS LATER I RETURNED TO MY VAN AND IT WOULD NOT START. SO IT HAD TO HAVE MY CAR JUMP STARTED AND EVER SINCE THEN HAVE HAD TO REMOVE THE TERMINALS FROM THE BATTERY WHEN I AM NOT USING THE VAN. ON FEB 14, SEVERAL OTHER ISSUE CAME ABOUT: 1. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING 2. ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING 3. AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING SO ONCE I PULLED OVER, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD CONTINOUSLY START AND STOP. I CURRENTLY LEASE A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. MY LEASE IS UP IN AUGUST 2008 AND MY TRANSMISSION BROKEN DOWN ON ME IN JANUARY 2008 @ 63,700 MILES. THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE COVERS 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM OVER THE MILES BY 3,700 BUT THE PRODUCT SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN DOWN AT ONLY 4 YEARS OF AGE. EMMA LANCASTER (CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. NORTH AMERICAN) AND THE NISSAN CORPORATION WERE NOT HELPFUL IN SOLVING THIS PROBLEM OF REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION AT NO COST TO ME. AFTER WAITING 2 WEEKS FOR EMMA TO RETURN MY CALL WITH A STATUS OF THE SITUATION, SHE INFORMED ME THAT I MUST SUPPLY PROOF THAT I HAD ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE DONE ON MY VEHICLE. I THEN SUBMITTED RECEIPTS FROM INDEPENDENT STATION OWNERS INDICATING THAT ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED. AFTER WAITING YET ANOTHER WEEK FOR AN ANSWER FROM EMMA AND NISSAN, EMMA INFORMED ME THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT PAY TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, TWO WEEKS PRIOR EMMA LANCASTER ADMITTED TO ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN DOWN AT THIS POINT IN TIME. END RESULT: I PAID $3,600 TO FIX A TRANSMISSION (WHICH TOOK ONE MONTH TO REPLACE AND REPAIR) AND PAID $1,200 TO LEASE A RENTAL CAR (ANOTHER $ AMOUNT THAT NISSAN WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR) UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION ON MY QUEST WAS INSTALLED. ACCORDING TO NISSAN ALL PARTS OF THE 2004 QUEST ARE DISCONTINUED AND THEY HAD TO SEND OUT TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION BUILT. I WILL NEVER LEASE OR PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN PRODUCT AND WILL SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHER CONSUMERS NOT TO PURCHASE ANY NISSAN VEHICLE. ON 1-11-08 I WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR COLLISION IN MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST. I WAS AVOIDING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND SWERVED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER WAL, HEAD ON. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN QUEST I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ROTORS ABOUT EVERY 5,000 MILES BECAUSE THEY WARP AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT OCCASIONALLY COMES ON, SIGNALING THAT IT WILL NOT DEPLOY, WHILE MY WIFE IS SEATED IN IT. SHE WEIGHS 120 POUNDS. THOUGH THE SENSOR IS SUPPOSEDLY WORKING CORRECTLY - I WOULD DESCRIBE THIS AS A DESIGN FLAW. THE SENSOR USUALLY RECOGNIZES HER IN THE SEAT, BUT IF SHE SITS OFF TO THE SIDE, CROSS-LEGGED OR WITH A FOOT PROPPED UP, IT DOES NOT WORK. NISSAN USA AND OUR DEALER SAY EVERYTHING IS FINE AND WILL NOT ADJUST ANYTHING OR ALLOW THE AIRBAG TO ALWAYS DEPLOY. I ADVISED THEM OF MY WIFE'S WEIGHT AND SIZE - AND THEY SAY THE SEAT AND AIRBAG ARE FINE. A PASSENGER OF THIS WEIGHT SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE AN AIRBAG DEPLOY, REGARDLESS OF FOOT POSITION, IF THE CAR IS FLIPPING OVER OR WHETHER ONE'S BODY IS CENTRALLY LOCATED OVER THE SEAT. NISSAN DISAGREES. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,330 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE ROAD WITH MY DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. WE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE ABOUT 23000 MILES. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 15-17 MAR 2007. ON ARCH 15 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SHE TURNED FROM ONE ROAD ON TO ANOTHER AND HEARD A CLUNG. AS SHE DROVE ON SHE FELT THE ENGINE WAS WORKING HARD AND HEARD LOUD UNUSUAL NOISES. LOOKING DOWN, SHE SAW THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT HAD MOVED FROM DRIVE TO LOW WITHOUT HUMAN HELP. OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLUGGISH, AND WAS REPORTED IN PERSON TO THE DEALER THAT SATURDAY ON MARCH 17. I ASKED A REPRESENTATIVE TO COME AND DRIVE THE VAN ON THE SPOT TO EXPERIENCE THE SLUGGISHNESS, THE REPRESENTATIVE DECLINED. THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED SLUGGISH THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND, UNTIL I TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION ON MARCH 19. DURING MARCH 19 & 20 THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.*AK

THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE ONLY THING THAT WAS LOCATED IN THE DASHBOARD WITH ALL THE CONTROLS IN THE CENTER WAS A STORAGE COMPARTMENT WHICH WAS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. NISSAN HAS SINCE FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEWER MODELS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE RECALL SOLUTION FOR THE MIDDLE SEAT LATCH WAS A BAD SOLUTION BECAUSE THEY ONLY USED FOUR PLASTIC PEGS AND A PIECE OF CLOTH. THE MODEL OF THE VAN IS A NISSAN QUEST MODEL YEAR 2004. THE ONLY DOOR WITH A KEY LOCK IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. WE HAVE A REMOTE LOCK/UNLOCK WHICH WAS PROVIDED WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. THIS REMOTE IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IF DEFECTIVE WOULD PREVENT SOMEONE FROM ENTERING THE VEHICLE IF THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK IS FROZEN, DAMAGED OR INACCESSIBLE.*JB

THIS IS THE THIRD NISSAN BUT FIRST QUEST AND I HAVE PUT OVER 50,000 ON THOSE VEHICLES WITHOUT ISSUES. THEY SAY IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF NORMAL WEAR BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS QUICKLY CAN BE NORMAL WEAR. *NM
WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE GETS BELOW FREEZING - 25 DEGREES F OR LOWER - AND THE 2004 NISSAN QUEST IS OUTSIDE, THE DOORS (WHEN OPENED) FREEZE IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE UNTIL IT WARMS UP. *NM

THEY FOUND ROTORS RUNOUT FOR BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR TO BE EXCESSIVE. RESURFACED FOUR ROTORS AND CHANGED BRAKE PADS. DEALER DID NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY CITING THAT IT WAS A WEAR ITEM. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE PARTS ARE NOT UP TO SPECIFICATION ESPECIALLY WITH THE FAILURE AT 4000 MILES. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THAT PROBLEM. TWO OCCURANCES WITHIN 10000 MILES IS NOT THE NORM. THE ROTOR THICKNESS FOR THE SUBSEQUENT MODEL IS THICKER THAN ONE USED ON THE 04 MODEL. *NM
VEHICLE ABS LIGHTS, SLIP LIGHT AND VSD LIGHT ACTIVATED AND VEHICLE LOST BRAKING SYSTEM TO MANUAL FROM POWER. *JB
ON THREE INCIDENTS, THE ENGINE WILL REV HOWEVER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AS THOUGH IT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. IF THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED THEN THE PROBLEM CLEARS ITSELF HOWEVER THAT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER WITH SEVERAL COPIES OF COMPLAINTS FILED BY OTHERS, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEREFORE NOTHING WAS DONE. NISSAN SHOULD SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM AND NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, A SCRAPING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER EXPRESSED THAT THE BRAKES WERE TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 2/12/2007 - THE CONSUMER HAD AN 1993 QUEST FOR 11 YEARS. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE 2004'S BRAKES ARE SOFTER THAN THE 1993 MODEL. THE 2004'S BRAKES ARE THE SAME SIZE AS THE 1993 QUEST EVENTHOUGH THE WEIGHT HAS INCREASED BY ALMOST 1000 LBS. THE 2007'S BRAKE SIZE HAS BEEN INCREASED. *NM
