I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWED NISSAN QUEST 2004 10/25/06 FROM PORTER NISSAN 600 OGLETOWN ROAD,NEWARK DE. ON 10/26/06 I DROVE THE CAR TO NEW YORK TO SEE MY DAUGHTER AND I BECAME VERY SICK. I HAD HEADACHE, NAUSEA AND FELT ILL WHILE I DROVE THE CAR. I GOT IN THE CAR RETURN BACK TO DELAWARE, THE MORE I DROVE THE CAR THE SICKER I BECAME, HEADACHE ,NAUSEA,DIZZINESS, I HAD TO PULL OVER 3 TIMES PRIOR TO ARRIVING TO DE. I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS MAKING ME ILL AND CONTINUE MY JOURNEY TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 10/27/06 APPROX 9-10 AM. I ALSO INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE REAR FLOOR RUGS CONTINUE TO BE WET! THEN I PROCEEDED TO EMERGENCY ROOM FOR TREATMENT. LATER PORTER NISSAN FOUND A CRACK IN EXHAUST SYSTEM AND THE FUMES MADE ME SICK. I COULD HAVE DIED OR HURT SOME ON THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THAT BUYING A CERTIFIED CAR SHOULD PREVENT A CONSUMER FROM BUY A LEMON. I AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN, MY HEADACHE COME AND GOES. JUST THE THOUGHT OF GETTING THAT CAR MAKE FEEL ILL. PORTER NISSAN IS TRYING TO MAKE ME TAKE THAT CAR BACK. AND I TRULY DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR. HOW EVER I DO WANT ANOTHER NISSAN QUEST BECAUSE I AM MINI-VAN DRIVER AND IT IS THE CAR THAT I WANTED. BUT I DON'T WANT TO DIE TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THE CAR IS SAFE. I DRIVE 1 HOUR TO WORK AND I AM LONG DISTANCE DRIVER , I SPEND MORE HOURS IN MY CAR THAN I DO AT HOME. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE 2004 NISSAN QUEST. I HAVE HAD TO BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE I BOUGHT IT WITH 12 MILES IN SEPTEMBER 2004. I THOUGHT THAT THE NISSAN NAME WOULD BE AS GOOD AS THE TOYOTAS THAT I HAVE BOUGHT, WHICH HAVE LASTED WITHOUT TRIPS TO THE DEALER EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. THIS COMPLAINT IS BASED ON HAVING TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTOR AT 29,000 MILES; IT WAS JUST THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK. ONCE I LOOKED INTO THE COMPLAINTS LISTED, I REALIZED THAT THIS COULD BE A DESIGN FLAW. WHEN I INQUIRED OF THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE BRAKES WEARING SO QUICKLY, HE STATED IT IS A HEAVY VEHICLE AND IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DRIVE. HE STATED THAT SOME PEOPLE'S BRAKES ON THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL WEAR OUT EVEN SOONER, AS IF THIS WAS SOME CONSOLATION TO ME. WELL, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 19 YEARS, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A BRAND NEW VEHICLE NOT ONLY WEAR THROUGH BRAKE PADS SO QUICKLY, BUT RIGHT TO THE ROTORS WITHOUT WARNING!! THAT'S WHAT INFURIATES ME THE MOST; ONCE I HEAR A SIGN THAT THE BRAKE PADS ARE THINNING, I GET THE BRAKES REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I AM AWARE THAT IF THEY ARE WORN TO THE ROTORS, THEN THE REPAIR COSTS THREE TIMES AS MUCH. *NM
ON 10/21/06, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER NISSAN QUEST ON THE FREEWAY WHEN SHE SUDDENLY HEARD THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE TIRE BLOWOUT. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO THE GOODYEAR DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE DID NOT RECEIVE A PUNCTURE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TIRE TO BLOWOUT. THE TIRE WAS SHREDDED ON THE OUTSIDE TIRE WALL, AND IT LOOKS AS IF IT WERE CUT. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE TIRE WAS NOT CUT BY ANY SHARP OBJECT, MY WIFE CAN ATTEST TO THIS FACT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT SEE OR NOTICE ANY DAMAGE TO THE TIRE BEFORE SHE GOT INTO THE CAR A DROVE AWAY. THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SAME SIZE USED TIRE UNTIL THIS MATTER IS RESOLVED. *NM
I HAVE 2004 NISSAN QUEST, IT CAME WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2, THE SIZE 225/6516. THERE IS ONLY ONE COMPANY WHICH MAKES THAT TIRE, GOODYEAR. I ROTATED TIRE AS SUGGESTED. THE TIRE TRACTION IS LOWEST ONE CAN GET. AFTER DRIVING 20,000 MILES ON THE TIRE STARTED SHOWING SEVERE WEAR. BUBBLE SHOWING ON THE OUTSIDE WALL. WROTE TO NISSAN 3 TIMES, THEY NEVER BOTHERED ME CONTACT ME BACK, CALLED ONCE AND TOLD ABOUT THE TIRE PROBLEM, THE ANSWER WAS WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO PUT SAME TIME I.E. GOODYEAR 225/6516. AND GOOD YEAR KNOWING THAT THEY ONLY MANUFACTURE THAT SIZE PRICED THAT TIRE IS $150+ EACH, BUT ACTUALLY IT IS WORTH $39.99. THE PROBLEM IS IT IS JUST THE MONOPOLY BETWEEN NISSAN AND GOODYEAR, THEY COULD HAVE CHOSEN DIFFERENT SIZE, WHICH WILL GIVE CONSUMER MORE CHOICE. *NM
MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE WITH 20,000 MILES FAILED TO MOVE WHEN IN (D) GEAR AND ACCELERATOR APPLIED. WHILE IN A TRAFFIC JAM, THE ENGINE REVVED BUT VEHICLE EXPERIENCED NO FORWARD MOTION AS IF IN NEUTRAL. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, AND WE ALMOST HIT THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF US. MINUTES IN THE SAME TRAFFIC JAM, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO THIS "NEUTRAL" MODE AGAIN. I PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE, TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, AND THE VEHICLE MOVED SLUGGISHLY FORWARD, THEN PROCEEDED NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED ONCE MORE THAT DAY. *JB
A LOUD TICKING SOUND WHEN STARTING UP COLD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT WARMS UP. WE REPORTED THIS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE VARIABLE TIMING CHAIN, THEN WERE TOLD NO IT'S NORMAL, THEN IT'S THE VTC, NO THE ENGINEER SAYS IT'S NORMAL. THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR. IT IS NOT A NORMAL SOUND. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT STATES THAT HIS SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT CLOSE ON HIS 2004 NISSAN QUEST VAN. THE CONTACTS STATES THAT THIS HAPPENS IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. HE HAS TAKEN THIS VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. TO NO AVAIL THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED.
PASSENGER SEAT OCCASIONALLY STAYS LIT WHEN ADULT IS IN FRONT PASSANGER SEAT. WHICH MEANS THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY (SAFETY FEATURE FOR CHILDREN IN FRONT SEAT)SCHEDULED TO BRING CAR IN TO NISSAN.
VEHICLE STARTED OUT WITH FRONT END VIBRATIONS DRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. BROUGHT IN AND THEY BALANCED TIRES. PROBLEM CAME BACK, THEY THEN RESURFACED THE ROTORS, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND THEY REPLACED 2 ROTORS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 1 YEAR OLD. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW RETURNED. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I AM BEING TOLD THAT I NEED 4 NEW ROTORS AND THAT THE ROTORS ARE WARPED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND IS ENDANGERING OUR LIVES AND OTHERS OUT THERE. THE DEALERSHIP ONLY RESURFACED THE 2 FRONT ROTORS. THEY ARE ALL STILL WARPED. MY VAN IS NOT YET 2 YEARS OLD. MANUFACTURER DOES NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE A DEFAULT. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF CHANGING THE ROTORS ON A VEHICLE EVERY 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR. WE DO NOT WANT THERE TO BE A STATISTIC OF INJURIES OR DEATHS CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT CANNOT BE RECTIFIED. *NM
TIRE TREAD WEAR. THE OEM TIRES (GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 225/65 HR16) TREADS WEAR DOWN AROUND 25K MILES. THERE IS ONLY ONE MANUFACTURER OF THESE TIRES AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THEM. ATTEMPTING TO FIND REPLACEMENT TIRES AT A REASONABLE COST IS NOT EASY. *JB
IT IS IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW FOR ISSUES WITH HANDLING, THE LIFTGATE ARM COMING OUT OF THE DOOR, ABS, SLIP, TRACTION LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME, CRUISE CONTROL IS INOPERABLE, REAR WIPER ASSEMBLY HAS BROKEN FOR THE SECOND TIME, FRONT WASHER FLUID IS NOT WORKING. MOST NOTABLY ARE THE ISSUES WITH THE LIFTGATE AND HANDLING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO FOR BOTH ISSUES. OUR LIFTGATE WOULD NEVER OPEN ON THE FIRST TRY. THEY CHECKED INTO IT AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. WE WERE GIVEN A RENTAL AND TOLD THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT AND IN THE END THEY CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD FOR IT. THEY HAD A TECH FROM NISSAN FLY OUT TO LOOK AT IT. THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON PARTS. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. THE OTHER DAY I WENT OUT TO OPEN THE DOOR. IT HAD PULLED THE MOLDING LOOSE AND I COULD SEE METAL SHAVINGS AT THE END OF THE STRUT. WE HAVE HAD IT IN WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE HANDLING BEFORE. WE SUSPECTED THAT THE ROTORS WERE TO BLAME. EVERY TIME WE BROUGHT THIS UP WE WERE TOLD THAT WASN'T THE CASE. WE WERE TOLD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. WE THEN REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. NOTHING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES. THE AC BLOW HOT IF YOU SIT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. IF YOU REV THE ENGINE, IT JUST BLOWS HOTTER. YOU HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET THE AC TO BLOW COLD AGAIN. WE ARE LESS THAN HAPPY WITH NISSAN'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. WE HAVE CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND EMAILED AND HAVE HAD NO RESOLUTION ON ANY COMPLAINT. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THEM THAT A REP WILL CALL US AND IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED. *JB
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING SIDE DOOR ON MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST VAN CLOSES SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING -- PINNING THE PERSON ENTERING/LEAVING THE VEHICLE, OR THE PERSON WHO IS LEANING INTO THE VEHICLE BETWEEN THE DOOR FRAME AND A CONTINUING-TO-CLOSE- DOOR. *JB

THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR PANEL STARTED FALLING OFF MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE CLIPS AND ALSO MENTIONED THAT THEIR COURTESY VAN WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE CLIPS HELD THE PANEL IN PLACE FOR TWO WEEKS. I TOOK THE VAN BACK AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW PANEL (VERY EXPENSIVE). I HAVE YET TO PURCHASE THE 2000 DOLLAR PANEL AND STILL DO NOT USE THAT DOOR. *TR
NISSAN & GOODYEAR MONOPOLY ON 2004 QUEST TIRES. IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN CONTRACTED WITH GOODYEAR TO PRODUCE AN OEM PROPRIETARY 225/65/16 TIRE THAT ONLY GOODYEAR CARRIES AND ONLY IN ONE STYLE. WHEN REPLACING THE TIRES CONSUMERS HAVE LITTLE CHOICE BUT TO GO WITH THAT TIRE OR GO WITH A NON MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED SIZE LIKE 235/60/16 WHICH COULD CAUSE ISSUES SUCH AS SPEEDOMETER READINGS OFF... AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE ONLY NISSAN QUESTS USE THIS 225/65/16 TIRE. TREAD WEAR ON THE GOODYEAR OEM TIRE IS VERY POOR CAUSING AN EARLIER THAN EXPECTED REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. *NM
2004 NISSAN QUEST, PREMATURE FAILURE OF TREADS ON TIRES, TIRES HAVE NO TREAD WARRANTY AND A MONOPOLY EXISTS ON TIRE REPLACEMENT AS IT IS A SPECIAL MADE TIRE SIZE FOR NISSAN. BASICALLY TIRES ARE WORN OUT AT ONLY 33,000 MILES. GOODYEAR APPARENTLY MADE THESE TIRES DESIGNATED AS SPORTS TIRES BUT PLACED THEM ON A MINI VAN APPARENTLY JUST FOR NISSAN IN THE SIZE 225/65/16. HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER WHO MAKES THIS SIZE SO IT APPEARS TO BE A NISSAN/GOODYEAR EXCLUSIVE AND THUS A MONOPOLY ON THESE TIRES. GOODYEAR NOR NISSAN PROVIDE ANY TREAD WARRANTY THAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE. GOODYEAR SAID DIRECTLY THAT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE A TREAD WARRANTY ON THIS TIRE. GOODYEAR INDICATES EXPECTED LIFE SPAN TO ONLY BE ABOUT 30,000 MILES. THIS WAS NOT INDICATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND NOT WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT AS NORMAL TO REPLACE TIRES EVERY YEAR TO EVERY YEAR AND A HALF AT A COST OF OVER $700. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HEADQUARTERS TO COMMUNICATE TO ME ANY INFORMATION AND LOCAL NISSAN DEALERS ARE ALSO SOMEWHAT CONFUSED OVER THE SIZE. CONSUMERS WHO EXPECT TIRES TO LAST A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME UNDER GOOD DRIVING CONDITIONS DO NOT GET REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS OUT OF THESE TIRES AND MUST RETURN TO NISSAN/GOODYEAR FOR HIGH COST REPLACEMENTS FOR LOW QUALITY TIRES. *NM
ON AUGUST 5, 2005, AFTER 16,328 MILES AND SEVERE SHAKING WHEN BRAKING, DEALER TOLD ME HE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT ROTORS. THREE MONTHS LATER, LIGHT SHAKING BEGAN AGAIN. AFTER PERIOD OF DISUSE FOR THREE MONTHS, SHAKING BECAME WORSE AND DEALER TOLD ME HE HAD TO CUT ROTORS AGAIN (NOW I REALIZED THEY WEREN'T REPLACED.) HOWEVER, HE SAID, IT WAS NO LONGER IN THE WARRANTY. IT WAS A RESULT OF MY DRIVING. I'VE HAD THREE NISSANS BEFORE THIS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH BRAKES. ROTORS CUT TWICE IN 30,000 MILES? I DON'T THINK SO. THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS QUEST. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE FRONT ROTORS NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED. THE CONSUMER STATED MULTIPLE COMPONETS SUCH AS THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, THE GAS TANK, THE FRONT END OF THE CAR AND SEATS. UPDATED 07/17/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER AN OCCUPANT WHO WEIGHED 115 POUNDS SAT IN THE SEAT. THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, AN OCCUPANT WHO WEIGHED 150 POUNDS SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ERROR CODES. THE DEALER AND CONTACT ENCOUNTERED A NHTSA RECALL #04V103000, REGARDING THE AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. ALSO, THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, DID NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED.
BATTERY MAIN GROUND WIRE IS STRAPPED SUPPORTED TO FRAME THEN GROUNDED AT BOLT IN TRANSMISSION. GROUND WIRE BREAKAGE OCCURRED AT TRANSMISSION GROUNDING POINT DUE TO OSCILLATION OF STIFF GROUND WIRE BEING OSCILLATED UP AND DOWN BY TRANSMISSION MOVEMENT RELATIVE TO VEHICLE FRAME. *TR
NISSAN & GOODYEAR MONOPOLY ON 2004 QUEST TIRES. IT APPEARS THAT NISSAN CONTRACTED WITH GOODYEAR TO PRODUCE AN OEM PROPRIETARY 225/65/16 TIRE THAT ONLY GOODYEAR CARRIES AND ONLY IN ONE STYLE. WHEN REPLACING THE TIRES CONSUMERS HAVE LITTLE CHOICE BUT TO GO WITH THAT TIRE OR GO WITH A NON MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED SIZE LIKE 235/60/16 WHICH COULD CAUSE ISSUES SUCH AS SPEEDOMETER READINGS OFF... AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE ONLY NISSAN QUESTS USE THIS 225/65/16 TIRE. TREAD WEAR ON THE GOODYEAR OEM TIRE IS VERY POOR CAUSING AN EARLIER THAN EXPECTED REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. I HAVE FOUND NOKIAN A FINISH TIRE THAT IS SOLD IN THE USA ALSO PRODUCES THIS SIZE TIRE. THE PRICE IS THE SAME BUT THE TIRE IS A MUCH BETTER QUALITY. I'LL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN OR GOODYEAR PRODUCT. *JB
2004 NISSAN QUEST. EXCESSIVE SHAKE WHILE BRAKING, CONCERN FOR SAFETY PLUS IT WAS QUITE IRRITATING. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW JANUARY 2005, HAD 29,196 MILES ON IT. REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE PADS AND TURNING THE ROTORS AT A COST TO ME OF $339.98. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY, STATED THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND "NORMAL" MAINTENANCE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UNLESS A DEFECT IN "MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP". I CONTEND WORN OUT BRAKE PADS AND THE NECESSITY TO TURN THE ROTORS AT ONLY 29.196 MILES IS NOT NORMAL AND IS A DEFECT IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP AND SHOULD BE COVERED. A 2004 LAWSUIT ON NISSAN FOR INFINITI G35 PREMATURE BRAKE DEFECT IS SIMILAR TO MY PROBLEM AND IN THAT LAWSUIT NISSAN AGREED TO COVER REPAIRS UP TO 36,000 AND THAT'S WHAT THEY SHOULD DO IN THIS CASE. *JB
2004 NISSAN QUEST SE WITH A MANUFACTURE DATE OF 03/29/04 JUST SPENT 30 TOTAL DAYS IN THE DEALER'S SHOP WHILE CERTIFIED NISSAN SERVICE PERSONNEL AND THE NISSAN TECH SUPPORT PEOPLE WORKED TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE AND CORRECT RATTLING SLIDING DOORS THAT OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AT 45 MPH WITHOUT WARNING: DOORS THAT OPEN AND CLOSE CONTINUOUSLY WHILE PARKED UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DEAD; AND DOORS THAT ONCE THEY GET TO FULL OPEN STATUS BEGIN TO CLOSE WITHOUT WARNING AND ARE UNSTOPPABLE. I USE THREE CAR SEATS IN MY VAN AND DOORS THAT OPEN WHILE IN MOTION ARE VERY FRIGHTENING TO EVERYONE BUT SLIDING DOORS THAT SHUT WHILE LITTLE PEOPLE ARE CLIMBING IN AND OUT WITH NOT WAY TO STOP THEM IS MORE OF A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO, USED. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE. THE MAIN PROBLEMS ARE: THE ROOF LEAKS, WHETHER IT'S THE SUNROOF OR SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING THE LEAK REMAINS TO BE SEEN. IT KEEPS OPENING UP RIGHT AS IT GOES TO CLOSE. DEALER CLAIMS FIXED BUT STILL HAVE TO MAKE 2 OR 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE IT WILL FINALLY WORK. DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AT ALL 2 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. MANUAL OVERRIDE DID NOT RELEASE THE DOOR. AFTER WAITING 5 MINUTES AND TRYING AGAIN, THE DOOR WOULD FINALLY SHUT. THE A/C DOES NOT BLOW OUT COOL AIR ON VERY HOT (OVER 80 DEGREES) DAYS. *JB

THIS NISSAN DEALER WAS TO COMPLY WITH A RECALL NOTICE TO REMOVE MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND SHIP IT TO A FACILITY WHICH WOULD MODIFY THE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM AND THEN RETURN THE SEAT. THIS WAS TO BE A FREE SERVICE. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS INSTALLED WITH AFTER-MARKET LEATHER, TO COMPLETE THE RECALL SERVICE, THE AFTER-MARKET LEATHER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH STANDARD LEATHER BUT DUBLIN NISSAN SERVICE REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH THE RECALL. AS A RESULT, THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS TURNED ON IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR INSPECTION AND SOLUTIONS TO THESE PROBLEMS; HOWEVER THE PROBLEMS COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED.

I OWN A 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THE SAFETY FEATURES ON THE POWER SLIDING DOORS. WHILE OUT ONE AFTERNOON, MY SON DECIDED THAT HE WOULD PRESS THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON HIS SIDE. I HAD BENT DOWN TO TIE HIS SHOE AND FAILED TO NOTICE THAT HE DIDN'T MOVE HIS HAND OUT OF THE WAY AFTER HE HAD PRESSED THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DOOR. I HAVE IN MANY OCCASIONS BEING HIT BY THE DOORS ON THE WAY TO CLOSING AND ONLY A VERY STRONG RESISTANCE CAN STOP THEM. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REFERRED ME TO NISSAN BUT NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER ON THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN SAYING THAT YES THE FORCE REQUIRED IS VERY LARGE. ISN'T THAT A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE? SHOULDN'T THE POWER SLIDING DOORS, LIKE THE DOOR OF ELEVATORS, HAVE A SAFETY SPECIFICATION TO ENSURE THAT THEY CLOSE AT THE SLIGHT USE OF FORCE? MINIVANS ARE USED BY MANY FAMILIES WITH KIDS. I SEE THAT AS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. LUCKILY NO ONE GOT HURT THIS TIME. *NM
THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL OF THIS VEHICLE, IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN MAKING A TURN AND THE WHEEL IS RETURNING BETWEEN THE 11:00 AND 1:00 POSITION. ALSO WHEN DRIVING AROUND TOWN, SPEEDS NO MORE THAN 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE. DEALER HAS ROTATED AND BALANCED TIRES, AND MATCH MOUNTED. I WENT TO GOODYEAR AND PAID FOR THEM TO DO THE SAME. THE VIBRATION STILL EXIST. I JUST PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER TODAY,10/21/05, AND THE VIBRATION IS STILL THERE AND I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND THE INTERIOR WAS FULL OF GREASE, ON THE DOOR AND DRIVERS SIDE RUG. *JB
I HAVE A HARMONIC VIBRATION FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY 04 QUEST S. OVER LONG DISTANCES, THE SHAKING CAUSES NUMBNESS OF THE HANDS. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM THREE TIMES BEFORE ULTIMATELY DECLARING THAT THIS IS THE NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A LOG OF WHAT WAS DONE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE: MONTH 22 IN SERVICE: 28-JUN-05 @ 29,972 MILES - REPLACED ALL FOUR GOODYEAR EAGLE LS 225/65R16 TIRES AS PER DEALER RECOMMENDATION. REASON: WORN. (PART# OETIR-06482). THIS IS WHEN THE SHIMMY EFFECT BECAME OBVIOUS. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER. MONTH 23 IN SERVICE: 15-AUG-05 @ 32,305 MILES - RE BALANCED ALL 4 TIRES. NO EFFECT. MONTH 23 IN SERVICE: 22-AUG-05 @ 32,727 MILES - REPLACED FRONT TWO TIRES. TIRES ROAD FORCE BALANCED. NO EFFECT. MONTH 24 IN SERVICE: 7-SEP-05 @ 33,101 MILES - RE BALANCED ALL WHEELS AND CHECKED ROAD FORCE. CHECKED FRONT HUB RUNOUT. ADJUSTED STEERING RACK FORCE. CLEANED ALL MATING SURFACES BETWEEN HUB AND ROTOR AND ROTOR AND WHEEL. DEALER CLAIMS ROAD TESTED OK. NO EFFECT. MONTH 25 IN SERVICE: 28-SEP-05 @ 33,985 MILES - ROAD TEST. DEALER STATES NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION FOR VEHICLE. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS (CASE # 5066744) BUT THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ISSUE BY STATING THAT IT IS A NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. *NM
CONSUMER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL ON AIRBAG SENSOR. *TS THE CONSUMER LEARNED OF RECALL 04V103000 ABOUT A YEAR LATER ON A WEBSITE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOT HE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THEY SHIPPED THE SEAT TO CALIFORNIA TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONSUMER FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE SEAT WAS SHIPPED AND REPAIRED ON 3 1/2 DAYS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONSUMER THE AIR BAG SENSOR STILL MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN AN ADULT WAS IN THE SEAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THE ADULT IN THE SEAT MUST SIT PERFECTLY STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEAT. THE DEALER REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER REPAIRS. *NM
POWER SLIDING DOOR ON 2004 NISSAN QUEST FAILED TO SENSE PASSENGER AND DID NOT STOP AND INJURED PASSENGER. THIS WAS THIRD TIME. PREVIOUSLY FAILED AND PINNED DOG AND OTHER TIME CHILD. THE DOOR DID STOP AFTER OTHER PASSENGERS INTERCEDED AND FORCED DOOR TO STOP AND RETREAT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SIDE ELECTRICAL SLIDING DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES AUTOMATICALLY. THE DOORS ON THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO OPEN. THE DOOR WILL OPEN SO THAT A PASSENGER MAY ENTER THE VEHICLE, THEN THE DOOR WILL CLOSE BEFORE THEY ARE COMPLETELY INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES AND THE DEALER CHANGED THE SENSORS AND READJUSTED THE DOORS. THE DOOR CONTINUES TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE IS PART OF RECALL # 04V186000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH), BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 70,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE CONSUMER STATED BATTERY WEAK, DEALER REPLACED BATTERY. THE CONSUMER STATED SLOW LEAK IN TIRES, THE DEALER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. I BROUGHT MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST [XXX] IN FOR A RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AIRBAG IN JUNE OF 2005 TO SOUTHERN STATES NISSAN IN RALEIGH, NC. NISSAN STATED THAT THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT DID NOT MEET THE FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS AND THEY WOULD FIX IT. WHEN I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK, I FOUND THAT WHEN I SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND REMAIN ON FOR MY ENTIRE TRIP. NORMALLY, THIS LIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO TURN OFF AFTER 5 OR SO SECONDS INDICATED THAT THE AIRBAG IS IN FACT ACTIVATED TO DEPLOY. THIS LIGHT WOULD COME ON ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME THAT I SAT IN THE SEAT. I AM 5 FEET 8 INCHES TALL AND WEIGH 120 POUNDS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU TO ADVISE THEM OF THIS ISSUE. NISSAN HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY RECALIBRATED THE SEAT CORRECTLY AND THAT I SHOULD SIT IN ANOTHER QUEST THAT HAS BEEN RECALIBRATED. I HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND CHIP A TECHNICIAN THERE VERIFIED THAT THE LIGHT IS INDEED ON WHEN I SIT IN THE SEAT. MONTHS HAVE GONE BY AND BOTH THE DEALER AND NISSAN ARE TELLING ME TO "WAIT" FOR ANOTHER "RECALIBRATED" 2004 QUEST TO COME IN AND THAT I SHOULD DRIVE DOWN AND SIT IN IT. THEY HAVE YET TO GET IN ONE OF THESE VEHICLES FOR ME TO SIT IN. IT IS NOW THE END OF OCTOBER AND I CONTINUE TO HAVE TO SIT IN A PASSENGER SEAT WHERE THE AIRBAG IS INOPERABLE WHEN I SIT IN IT AND NISSAN IS TAKING A CAVALIER ATTITUDE TOWARD THIS. NISSAN AND THE DEALER POINT THE FINGER AT EACH OTHER. THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT AIRBAG SENSORS IN GENERAL AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET INVOLVED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE SENSORS ARE CALIBRATED TO DETECT A CHILD SITTING IN THE SEAT - BUT - THESE SENSORS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DETECT A PERSON WITH A 120 POUND FRAME! TO DATE 3 OF THE 4 ORIGINAL GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 P225/65R16 TIRES ARE SEPARATING ALONG THE TIRE WALL SEAM. THE TIRE WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 2004 NISSAN QUEST WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES WEAR. A LOCAL RETAILER IS REPLACING THE TIRES AWAITING GOODYEAR'S DECISION FOR COST. THE FIRST INDICATION IS THAT THE TIRE LOOSES AIR PRESSURE AND UPON INSPECTION A PART CAN BE FOUND ALONG THE SEAM. THIS IS DEFINITELY AND MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *NM
