CRANK POSITION SENSOR WON'T START AFTER SITTING STATIONARY AFTER IT RAN AND STOPPED ITS INTERMEDIATE.
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR NO LONGER FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. NO LONGER LATCHES. SEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE ON YOUTUBE.
WHEN YOU START DRIVING THE VEHICLE FROM A COLD START IT DRIVES AND SHIFTS PERFECT. AS SOON AS IT REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURE IT WILL SLAM WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. AFTER 5 MINUTES OR SO IT WILL NOT MOVE. SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF FOR 15 TO 20 MINUTES AND I SHIFTS AND DRIVES FINE FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES THEN THE SAME PROBLEMS HAPPEN AGAIN.
WHILE VAN WAS PARKED, TURNED OFF, AND NO KEY IN IGNITION, THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND WIPERS STARTED GOING. STARTED TO SMOKE. A WITNESS CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT AND IT WAS IN FLAMES BEFORE THEY GOT THERE. APPARENTLY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUGHT FIRE. WE WERE INSIDE A MALL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED US AND FIRE WAS OUT BEFORE WE GOT TO VEHICLE. VAN IS TOTALED.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS CAUSING VAN TO STALL. CAN HAPPEN JUST TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY. HAPPENS AS YOU TRY TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC. SO SLUGGISH YOU ARE AFRAID YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. CAN HAPPEN JUST TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE. FRIGHTENING WHEN IN THAT SITUATION WITH EIGHTEEN WHEELERS IN YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR. HAVE TAKEN TO NISSAN CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP EACH TIME.
THE THREE LINEAR SOLENOIDS IN THE TRANSMISSION FAIL, CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE SHIFTING. SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE ONCE ENGINE IS WARM WILL CAUSE A CLUNK IN TRANSMISSION. ALSO, DOWNSHIFT CREATES TRANSMISSION SURGE.
THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TCS) OF THE VEHICLE HAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND THEN SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE DRAGGED AND SLIPPED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE PROBLEM IS UNIQUE TO NISSAN, PARTICULARLY QUEST, BUT NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO FIX IT. THE TCS LIGHT AND THE SLIP LIGHT CAME ON AND A SUDDEN JACK BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A HALT. THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS SERVICED JUST THE MONTH BEFORE AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN USING IT BECAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE AND ODOMETER WERE NOT DISPLAYING FULLY/PROPERLY. NISSAN HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IN THE 2006 AND EARLIER MODELS OF THE QUEST. THE FUEL GAUGE AND ODOMETER PROBLEM BECAME A PROBLEM IN QUEST ONCE THE VEHICLE REACHES 70,0000KM/MILES, AND BY THEN THE WARRANTY WOULD HAVE LAPSED. NISSAN FIXED THIS MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM IN 2007 AND AS SUCH THE PROBLEM DOES NOT AFFLICT MODELS SINCE 2007. MY QUEST STARTING EXHIBITING THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE ODOMETER REACHED 71,000. NOW THE ODOMETER AND THE FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER APPEAR FULLY AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TELL HOW MUCH GAS YOU HAVE AND YOU CANNOT READ THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE CLEARLY. NISSAN HAS AN OBLIGATION AND DUTY TO FIX THE ODOMETERS AND FUEL GAUGE OF THE SUBSEQUENT MODELS. *TR
RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE AT START UP. GOES AWAY AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THE CAUSE IS FAULTY TIMING CHAIN SHOES AND TENSIONER. TRANSMISSION JERKING WHILE DRIVING. *TR
I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2006 NISSAN QUEST 3.5 SE MINIVAN. THE TRANSMISSION HAS AIR-FLOW PROBLEMS, HARD SHIFT, ACCELERATION PROBLEMS, AND GEAR SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL HARD-SHIFT WHILE DECELERATING AND PARKING. WHILE ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR (MAKING A RACING SOUND/LIKE RAPIDLY ACCELERATING) THEN JUMP (MAKING A HARD JOLTING KNOCKING NOISE - ESPECIALLY WHILE ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AROUND 50-55-60MPH). DURING DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A SOUND SIMILAR TO A RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE THAT HAS GOTTEN LOUDER OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS. ALSO, THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE OF SLOW ACCELERATION WHILE APPROACHING 20MPH. BEYOND 20MPH THE ACCELERATION IS FINE. THIS ISSUE WAS TEMPORARY BUT WORRYING BECAUSE THERE WAS A DISTINCT SMELL OF SOMETHING OVERHEATING COMING NOT FROM THE ENGINE ITSELF, BUT FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND LET IT COOL DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS, AFTER WHICH THE ACCELERATION ISSUE DISAPPEARED, BUT I FEAR IT WILL RETURN. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC DURING WHICH HE PLUGGED IN THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. IT DIAGNOSED 10 CODES - ALL TRANSMISSION RELATED. I AM FORCED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $2,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILED TO UNLOCK WHEN ENGAGED, WHICH PREVENTED THE OCCUPANT FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO CUT THE SEAT BELT WEBBING TO RELEASE THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I PURCHASE A USED NISSAN QUEST IN JUNE 2016 COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTS FLASHING. ANOTHER THING IS THE CLUSTER THAT READS OVER HEARING AND MILES FLASHES AND TWITCHES. MY VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE HAD 121,246 MILES I'M THE SECOND OWNER. I TOOK TO COURTESY NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, BUT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL REVIEWS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AND CAN'T STOP WORRYING SINCE THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THE SENSORS AND TIMING CHAIN GAVE UP SOON. ALSO AT TO REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THIS HAS BEEN A HOLE IN MY POCKET SINCE I PURCHASED. STATES THERE IS A RECALL BUT I'M NOT SURE
I HAVE A NISSAN QUEST 2006. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY FRONT SUB-FRAME IS ALL ROTTEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
IN A FRONTAL CRASH, WHICH REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, AT 35 MPG, ON A CITY STREET, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, DRIVER OR SIDE AIRBAGS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAD BEEN FLASHING SINCE I PURCHASED THE USED 2006 NISSAN QUEST, HAVING APPROX. 235,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE HORN, RADIO, AND INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND THE HORN FUSES WERE REMOVED. THE BATTERY WAS RECONNECTED AND THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE ENGINE AND AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARTKING LOT AND I STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING. I THOUGHT IT WAS IN THE AIR BUT THEN I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER MY FRONT HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, GOT OUT OF THE VAN AND SAW SMOKE THEN FIRE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I MOVED QUITE A DISTANCE AWAY AND CALL 911 AS I WAS STANDING LOOKING AT THE VAN, I SAW SOMETHING DRIPPING WITH FIRE FROM THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT END. CAR WAS TOAST. IT BURNED IMMEDIATELY. NO WARNING SIGN, ENGINE LIGHT ALERT NOTHING ... VERY SCAREY!! WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER QUEST.
MY 2006 NISSAN QUEST HAS BAD JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THE GEARS CHANGE. IT DOES THIS WHEN IT BOTH GEARING UP AND SHIFTING DOWN AT ANY SPEED. THE JERKING IS VERY BAD WHEN ALSO COMING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY BECAUSE IF IT GIVES OUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY, IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND THAT PUTS MY FAMILY INCLUDING MY BABY IN DANGER. ALSO IF I AM STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY CHILD IN EXTREME HEAT OR COLD THIS ALSO PUTS MY CHILD IN DANGER. THIS TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED SEEING IS HOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE COMPLAINT.
MY VEHICLE JUMPS AT 35 MILES PER HOUR AND MAKES A LOUD CLICKING NOISE FROM THE TIMING CHAIN .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL LUG NUTS AND THE LUG BOLT DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,000.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS AND GAS GAUGE WAS SHOWING FULL BUT THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD . I HAD TO CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE GUY TOLD ME THE WAS NOT GAS IN THE CAR. COMING HOME FROM CHURCH WITH MY FAMILY I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN AT AN INTERSECTION AND VAN STARTED JERKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS I WAS CROSSING INTERSECTION. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. IF NISSAN WANTS TO HOLD UP THEIR NAME AND KEEP THEIR CUSTOMERS, THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND REPAIR THEM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THEIR MALFUNCTIONING VEHICLES. *TR

THE HATCH LIFT WILL NOT CLOSE OR OPEN WITH THE KEY OR PUSH BUTTON; IT IS AN OPEN POSITION. WE CONTACT A NISSAN DEALER AND WAS QUOTE $900 TO REPAIR. IN 2012 WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION THAT COST US $2500. THE DASHBOARD ALL THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AND THE COST TO REPLACED THAT WHOLE IS OVER $600 JUST FOR THE PARTS NOT INCLUDING LABOR. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE VAN WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH IT. BUT IN THE LAST 3YEARS IT HAS GONE DOWN HILL. I CAR THAT WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW FOR OVER $30,000 SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 7 YEARS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN FORCE NISSAN TO LOOK AT ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE IN THIS MODEL. WE ARE PLANNING A NEW CAR NEXT YEAR; AND I KNOW WE WILL NOT BE PURCHASING A NISSAN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE VAN STARTED TO SHAKE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE AND THEN THERE WAS NO POWER AS THE GAS WAS PRESSED. THE GAS WAS TO THE FLOOR AND THE MAX SPEED WAS 50 MPH. THE MORE YOU DROVE THE WORST IT GOT. I AM ONLY TALKING DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MILE. WHEN YOU FIRST START OUT IT IS NOT AS BAD, BUT IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE NOR AM I WILLING TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE. I HAVE READ ARTICLES ON THIS AND IT CERTAINLY SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM. LETS GET IT TOGETHER NISSAN!!!!! I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IF GOING IMPORT IS WORTH IT. I HAVE A 2001 GMC WITH OVER 175,000 WITH NO PROBLEMS. *TR
AT AROUND 83700 MILES, THE LAST THREE DIGITS OF THE MILEAGE BECAME GARBLED, AND NOW THEY DON'T SHOW UP AT ALL. ALSO, OTHER INDICATORS ON THE DISPLAY ARE GOING OUT AS WELL, SUCH AS THE GAS GAUGE. THE POSSIBLE SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS ARE OBVIOUS: BEING UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN MAINTENANCE IS DUE, RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ON THE HIGHWAY, ETC. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED CAUSING VEHICLE TO DROP TO NEUTRAL AND LOOSE ACCELERATION ABOVE 20 MPH. NO POWER WAS AVAILABLE UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWED BELOW 15 MPH. INCIDENT HAPPENED AFTER TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO 45 MPH. TRAFFIC BEHIND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BRAKE QUICKLY TO AVOID REAR END COLLISION. *TR

THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
FUEL GAUGE NOT REGISTERING PROPERLY. LAST FEW DIGITS OF ODOMETER WILL DISAPPEAR OR NOT SHOW UP ALL THE WAY. *TR
2006 NISSAN QUEST PURCHSASED BRAND NEW FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN THOUSAND OAKS, CA IN 2007. WITH 68K MILES ON IT, IT'S FALLING APART. TIMING CHAIN IS SHOT, A-ARM BUSHINGS CRACKED, FRONT ENGINE MOUNT CRACKED, ABS SWITCH FAILED WAS REPLACED. *TR CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS NAM, THEY WOULDN'T HELP ME. THE TIMING CHAIN IS A KNOWN ISSUE WTH NISSAN. THEY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN IN DECEMBER OF 2009 FOR THE QUEST, MAXIMA, ALTIMA. IT'S JUST TOO SOON IN THIS VEHICLES LIFECYCLE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES.
AT APPROXIMATELY 98000 MILES THE ODOMETER/GAS METER WAS UNREADABLE. APPARENTLY IT IS COMMON IN NISSAN QUESTS TO HAVE THIS PART GO OUT AT OR AROUND 100,000 MILES. POSSIBLY LEAVING THE OCCUPANTS STRANDED BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF AWARENESS IN THE AMOUNT OF GAS AVAILABLE. BEING THAT WE WERE TRAVELING ACROSS COUNTRY TO RELOCATE THIS BECAME VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS AND SLIP WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THERE WAS ALSO A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING LIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ACTUATOR PUMP WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
AS YOU START OFF FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION JERKS IN THE LOWER GEARS, THE SPEED SURGES THEN GOES BACK DOWN AND THERE IS AN INFREQUENT KNOCKING NOISE. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO STARTS TO GEAR DOWN AS YOU GO DOWN A DECLINE AT SPEEDS OF 45-50 MPH. *TR
NISSAN QUEST 2006 SL 40,000 MILES MY SHIFT LEVER STUCK IN PARK EVEN THOUGH I AM PRESSING THE BRAKES AND THEY TOLD ME AT THE DEALER TO USE A SCREWDRIVER TO OVERRIDE THE SHIFT WHICH I THINK IS A HAZARD OR TO REPLACE THE TOTAL SHIFT. BUT I TOLD THEM ITS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT THEY HAVE A VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS IS MY 2ND CAR WITH NISSAN I USE TO HAVE THE 1999 QUEST. BUT I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN CARS ANY MORE. *KB
ON JULY 11,2011 I WAS TRAVELING IN MY 2006 NISSAN QUEST MINIVAN WITH MY TWO CHILDREN FROM MY HOME IN HARWICH, MA TO MY PARENT'S HOME IN ASHFORD, CT. AT ABOUT 1PM ON A DRY ROAD, WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65MPH ON MA ROUTE 25, MY QUEST JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, NO GAS PEDAL RESPONSE, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES ETC. AND THE RED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. FORTUNATELY , THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE QUEST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RE-START THE QUEST AND IT THEN AGAIN RAN NORMALLY. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE JULY 12 WITH GATES GMC NISSAN IN WINDHAM, CT. THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM (IN THEIR INVOICE C94977) WAS AS FOLLOWS: "C/S CHECK ENG LIGHT WAS ON, CHECK AND REPORT VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. DID RE-START AND RAN FINE CAUSE PO643 SENSOR POWER SUPPLY FOUND APP SENSORFAULT, NO REPAIR AT THIS TIME, NEEDS GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY." GATES DID NOT HAVE THE ELECTRONIC GAS PEDAL WHICH APPARENTLY CAUSED THIS PROBLEM IN STOCK AND SAID IT WOULD TAKE DAYS TO GET ONE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE QUEST SINCE THEN WITHOUT INCIDENT. STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE BRAKE. SO TOOK THE VAN TO MY MECHANIC SAID MY ROTOR NEEDED REPLACING. WHILE SINCE THEN I HAD TO REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS FIVE TIMES. THEY KEEP GETTING BENT. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING STOP WITH NEW ROTORS AND START WHEN ROTORS BEND AGAIN. AND YES THE SHAKING IS UNCONTROLLABLE WHEN IT HAPPENS. WE HAVE A 2006 NISSAN QUEST WITH 85,000 MILES ON IT. FOR A WHILE WE HAVE BEEN HEARING A WHINE WHEN WE ACCELERATE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT WE WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN FOR ABOUT $2,700. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NOW IS BEING REPLACED AT A MINIMUM CHARGE OF $3500. THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC SAID THAT NISSAN USED SHODDY MATERIALS IN ITS TRANSMISSIONS FOR THE 2006 YEAR. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS WE HAVE NOTICED A MOLDY SMELL IN THE CAR AND IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO DISCOVER A LEAK IN THE REAR HATCH THAT HAD SOAKED THE CARPET IN THE REAR WELL. DEALER FOUND REAR HATCH SEAL HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MICHELIN PAX SYSTEM TIRES ON A 2006 NISSAN QUEST SE. WE HAVE THE MICHELIN PAX TIRES ON OUR MINIVAN AND THEY ARE CONSTANTLY LOSING AIR, ARE VERY LOUD AND STIFF, AND WORST OF ALL ARE VERY POOR AND DANGEROUS IN SNOW. WE HAVE NOT HAD GOOD LUCK THIS PAST WEEK MANEUVERING OUR MINIVAN IN ANY TYPE OF SNOW OR ON ANY SLIPPERY ROAD SURFACE. OUR VEHICLE CAN NOT HAVE ANY OTHER TYPE OF TIRE BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM THAT IS INSTALLED FROM FACTORY AND WE ONLY HAVE 21,000 MILES ON THE VAN AND NEED NEW TIRES WHICH COST ON UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY (OVER $1200) FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES WHEN THEY ARE STILL VERY NEW!!! NO DEATHS OR INJURIES YET AND WE HOPE THERE NEVER ARE. HOWEVER, WE ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLACE OUR TIRES EVERY YEAR FOR THAT COST AND FROM SOME OTHER PEOPLE WE HAVE TALKED TO AT THE TIRE STORES AND AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT SOUNDS LIKE WE WILL HAVE TO GET NEW TIRES ABOUT EVERY 20-30K AND THAT THE TIRES DO NOT HANDLE WELL IN SNOW OR RAIN. THE FAILURE OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT EITHER LOCAL TRAFFIC SPEEDS OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE FAILURE IS THAT, WHILE BRAKING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN, AS IF THE ACCELERATOR HAS BEEN DEPRESSED FOR PASSING, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO DROP TO A LOWER GEAR AND THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE VIGOROUSLY DEPRESSED TO COUNTERACT THE ACCELERATION. EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN THAT, IF THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN RETURNED TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL RETURN TO NORMAL UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT. THE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED SIX TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, THE MOST RECENT BEING ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15, WHILE TRYING TO BRAKE AS I APPROACHED A DANGEROUS CURVE ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS NOT OBSTRUCTED BY THE FLOOR MAT OR ANY OTHER OBJECT DURING THESE INCIDENTS, NOR WAS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO EISENHAUER NISSAN ON AT THEIR FIRST APPOINTMENT ON NOVEMBER 17, 2009. I ALSO CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TO REPORT THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM OR CORRECT IT BECAUSE THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WAS NOT OCCURRING AT THAT MOMENT. ON NOVEMBER 17 NISSAN REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE OWEN WELCH RESPONDED TO MY SECOND CALL TO NISSAN HQ, BUT TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING NISSAN COULD DO FOR ME. AT MY INSISTENCE HE SAID HE WOULD FOLLOW UP. WELCH CALLED AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 23, 2009 TO INFORM ME THAT NISSAN COULDN'T HELP AND THAT HE WAS CLOSING MY FILE. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000 MILES AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN 2006. IT WAS SOLD WITH THE TUBLESS TIRES OR TIRES THAT CAN BE DRIVEN OVER 100 MILES TO THE NEAREST PLACE THAT CAN HELP YOU. THE FIRST SET OF TIRES WERE EXACTLY LIKE THE SECOND SET OF TIRES. THEY WERE ROTATED AND BALANCED AND INFLATED TO MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS. THE TIRES DID NOT LAST EVEN A YEAR. I HAD TO REPLACE EACH SET DUE TO POOR WEARING. THEY BECAME TREADLESS AND THE CORDS WERE ACTUALLY WEARING THROUGH THE TIRES. I STILL HAVE MY LAST SET FOR SOMEONE TO LOOK AT. ONE OF THE TIRES WERE ACTUALLY FLAT BUT DUE TO THE FAULTY MAKE OF THE TIRE MY CARES SENSORS DID NOT DETECT THAT THE TIRE WAS ACTUALLY RUNNING FLAT. THE TIRE IS VERY UNSAFE AND IS A HAZARD . THE ROTORS AND BRAKES ALSO SHAKE WHEN YOU MASH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE SINCE PUT NEW TIRES ON THAT ARE REGULAR TIRES AND NOT TUBLESS TIRES. I HAVE ALSO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO HAS TURNED THE ROTORS AND PUT ON NEW BRAKE PADS. I ALSO HAVE TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO HAS ON THE FIRST VISIT TURNED THE ROTORS AND ADJUSTED THE BRAKE PADS AND ON THE NEXT VISIT HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND BRAKEPADS BOTH. I AM STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY ROTORS AND BRAKES. THE ROTORS SHAKE WHEN YOU PUT ON THE BRAKES STILL. MY TIRES HAVE BEEN FINE SINCE I CHANGED TIRES. *TR
