DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, AND ENGINE STALLED AND CUT OUT. LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. NEEDED TO MAKE EVASIVE MOVES TO AVOID ACCIDENT AND GET OFF ROAD. CAR RAN OUT OF GAS. DASHBOARD FUEL GAUGE SAID 1/4 TANK OF GAS. ONBOARD TRIP DISPLAY SAID ZERO (0) DISTANCE TILL EMPTY, BUT I DO NOT USE THIS. I HAD TO GET ASSISTANCE AND 1 PUT LESS THAN 1 GALLON GAS IN CAR. FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE AND STILL SAYS THERE IS 1/4 TANK GAS, WHILE TRIP COMPUTER REGISTERED ABOVE 0 DTE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 27 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER RUN OUT OF GAS AND HAVE ALWAYS RELIED ON THE GAUGE, NOT THE TRIP COMPUTER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAD 2 KIDS IN THE CAR, AND I AM GRATEFUL MY WIFE WAS NOT DRIVING, AS SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STEER OR APPLY BRAKES IN SUCH A SITUATION WHEN LOSS OF POWER OCCURS UNDER THIS SITUATION. THE TRIP COMPUTER CAN BE WRONG, BUT THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE DASH BOARD SHOULD ALWAYS BE CORRECT. BASIC PRINCIPLE. *TR
THERE IS NO ACCIDENT YET AND WISH NOT TO HAPPEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THE CAR'S FUEL LEVEL GAUGE IS MALFUNCTION SINCE THIS MONTH, DECEMBER 2014 AND I GOT A CODE FOR P0462. I FOUND THAT IT IS VERY COMMON TROUBLESOME IN NISSAN VEHICLES AND MANY OF THEIR MODELS ARE IN RECALL BUT NOT 2007 NISSAN QUEST YET. I ALSO LEARNED THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER INVESTIGATE FOR THIS MATTER. PLEASE PROCESS IT SOON. *TR
FUEL LEVEL GAUGE SAYS A LITTLE LESS THAN 1/4 TANK WHEN FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. THIS INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL GAGE HAS STRANDED MY WIFE 5 TIMES SINCE WE'VE HAD THE VEHICLE. LAST TIME IT WAS RIGHT AFTER PASSING A TRUCK ON A TWO LANE ROAD, CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. *TR
DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, VAN SUDDENLY HAD ENGINE SHUT DOWN. LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AS ENGINE WAS OFF. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 REMAINING, BUT IN FACT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN OUT OF FUEL, WHILE THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 1/4 TANK OF GAS. BOTH OCCURRED DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AND CAUSED A LOSS OF NORMAL OPERATOR CONTROLS AS ALL POWER SYSTEMS CUT OFF WHEN ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITUATION TO DRIVE A VEHICLE BEING GIVEN INACCURATE FUEL INFORMATION. *TR
FUEL TANK GAUGE NEVER MOVES FROM THE E POSITION. NEW FUEL SENDING UNIT INSTALLED AND DOESNT CHANGE GAUGE.
DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON HIGHWAY. MOVED FEET TO UNDER KNEES POSITION TO RELAX. LOOP BEHIND RIGHT RUNNING STYLE SHOE GOT HOOKED ON SEAT SLIDE LEVER. HAD TO USE LEFT FOOT TO BRAKE. *TR
THIS IS FURTHER TO MY COMPLAINT ABOUT INCORRECT FUEL GAUGE READING AND RUNNING OUT OF GAS THREE TIMES WHEN BOTH THE FUEL GAUGE AND DIGITAL DISPLAY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I HAD BETWEEN 80 AND 130 MILES OF TRAVEL LEFT TO TRAVEL. LOW FUEL OR RESERVE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED. MY SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND I CONNECTED MY CAR MD READER TO THE VEHICLE DATA CONNECTION AND RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC ON IT CAME BACK WITH THE FOLLOWING REPORT. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP, STORED CODES ARE CONDITIONS THAT YOUR VEHICLE REPORTED AFTER YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS SET. CARMD USES THESE CODES TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY A MOST LIKELY REPAIR OR "CURE". RETRIEVED DIAGNOSTIC CODE: P0462 TECHNICAL DEFINITION: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR A CIRCUIT LOW INPUT GENERIC DEFINITION: THIS FAULT CODE INDICATES THE COMPREHENSIVE COMPONENT MONITOR (CCM) HAS DETECTED A MALFUNCTION IN THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT. THE SIGNAL FROM THE SENSOR WAS LOWER THAN THE MINIMUM EXPECTED VALUE FOR A PREDETERMINED PERIOD OF TIME FOR THE DRIVING CONDITIONS PRESENT WHEN THE CODE WAS SET. THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR MONITORS THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. A FLOAT ARM ATTACHED TO A VARIABLE RESISTOR CHANGES POSITION AS THE FUEL LEVEL CHANGES. WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK IS HIGH (THE FLOAT IS 'UP') THE RESISTANCE IS LOW; AS THE FUEL LEVEL DROPS (THE FLOAT MOVES 'DOWN'), RESISTANCE INCREASES. THE SIGNAL FROM THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS SUPPLIED TO THE VEHICLE'S FUEL GAUGE TO PROVIDE AN INDICATION OF THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES IN SOME INSTANCES YOUR VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER MAY ISSUE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. (?) ISSUED TSB? TSB NOT AVAILABLE MAYBE THIS WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE NOW WITH THE SAFETY FACTOR AND FAULTY FUEL READING DUE TO COMPONENT PRODUCT FAILURE. TO ME THIS SEEMS THAT A THIS WILL BE $700 REPAIR BILL FOR A 25C PART. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENGINE SUDDENLY CUT OFF AND STOPPED RUNNING. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED COSTING $1163.31. THEN ON DECEMBER 15, 2014 WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED. HAD FUEL DELIVERED AND STARTED RIGHT UP, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 1/4 TANK LEFT WHEN IT STALLED. ONCE FILLED I MONITORED USAGE AND CONCLUDED THE GAUGE IS OFF BY 1/4 TANK OR MORE. TRIED TO HAVE THIS COVERED AS PART OF THE PERVIOUS REPAIR BUT THEY COULD NOT COMMIT THAT THIS WAS PART OF THE PREVIOUS REPAIR. THEN IN JANUARY I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE FUEL GAUGE RECALL PE14012. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY INDICATED MY VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT SHOWN TO HAVE A PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I HAVE EXACTLY THE DESCRIBED PROBLEM. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED NOTICE THAT THIS NOW A KNOWN PROBLEM AND TO CALL THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE FUEL GAUGE REPAIR. HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD A SIMILAR FAILURE WHICH I BELIEVE IS AN EXTENDED PART OF THIS RECALL. THE INITIAL REPAIR SHOULD BE PART OF THIS RECALL AND ANY CHARGED PAID FOR THIS SHOULD BE REFUNDED.
THE VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE AND TRIP METER BOTH SHOW THAT I HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE FUEL THAN IS ACTUALLY THE CASE, CAUSING ME TO BE STRANDED BESIDE THE ROAD WITH NO GAS. THIS FAULT HAS CAUSED MY WIFE AND MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS A SMALL CHILD TO BE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN PRECARIOUS SITUATIONS. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO NISSAN BUT THEY BLEW ME OFF. I TOLD THEM THAT SIMILAR VEHICLES HAD BEEN RECALLED BUT THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE VEHICLES THAT WERE AFFECTED. *TR
WAS DRIVING NEAR MY HOME WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE SIMPLY SHUT OFF AND STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. FORTUNATELY I WAS AT LOW SPEED (ABOUT 25MPH) AND NOT IN A SITUATION WHERE THE HAZARD MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIGHER, SINCE THE POWER BRAKES ALSO SHUT OFF WITH THE MOTOR. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED SINCE MY FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING A LITTLE OVER 1/4 TANK FULL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. AFTERWARDS I FIGURED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY LACK OF GAS, EVEN THOUGH THE INDICATOR STILL SHOWED OVER 1/4 TANK FULL, SO I WENT TO GET A SOME GAS AND PUT 5 GALLONS IN THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY, ON FIRST TRY. *TR
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED AND ALL POWER CONTROLS WERE LOST SUCH AS POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. CAR WAS CAREFULLY MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. AFTER A THOROUGH INSPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF FUEL HOWEVER THE FUEL GAUGE READ JUST LITTLE BELOW 1/4 OF A TANK. IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION VIA THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE SITUATION OF LOSING ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND WAS A THREAT TO SAFETY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED OF FUEL PRIOR TO IT STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SLIGHT HILL. I WENT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE MINIVAN WAS OUT OF GAS, THOUGH THE GAS GAUGE INDICATED 1/4 TANK. THE DEALER QUOTED ME $880 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AFTER DIAGNOSTICS. I THOUGHT IT WAS WAAAYYY TOO MUCH TO PAY, BUT I HAD A ROAD TRIP COMING UP AND BOUGHT PARTS FROM THE LOCAL AUTO STORE TO REDUCE THE COST. AS WITH SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN ON THE INTERNET, THE GAUGE DID NOT WORK AFTER THE REPLACEMENT. BEFORE AND DIRECTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK WHEN IT WAS EMPTY, SO I JUST FILLED UP EARLY. SINCE THEN, MY ROUTINE HAS CHANGED AND SO HAS THE GAUGE. THE OTHER DAY I FILLED UP WHEN IT READ 1/2 TANK. HOWEVER, I PUT 16.5 GALLONS IN THE TANK. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN BELOW THE E MARK! I'M AFRAID MY CHILDREN AND I WILL BE STRANDED OR WRECK ONE DAY AS I CAN'T POSSIBLE TELL WHEN I NEED GAS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE ONLY SUGGESTION THEY HAVE IS TO BRING IT BACK AND LET THEM LOOK AT IT AGAIN. SINCE OTHER NISSAN MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT PAYING THEM TO DIAGNOSE IT AGAIN WILL HELP! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN MY VAN STARTED DECELERATING. I TRIED PRESSING ON THE GAS, BUT THE VAN WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND THE VAN ROLLED TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT I RAN OUT OF GAS EVEN THOUGH MY FUEL GAUGE SHOWED THAT I HAD ONE-QUARTER OF A TANK. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR SUDDENLY STALLED CAUSING OUR VAN TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. WE WERE ALMOST HIT TWICE WHILE SITTING THERE AS IT WAS A BUSY ROAD. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED OVER A 1/4 OF A TANK AND THE DISPLAY FUEL ECONOMY SCREEN SAID 57 MILES REMAINING IN THE TANK, BUT THE TANK WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. WE HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS. THE GAUGE STOPS MOVING DOWN AT THE SAME SPOT EACH TIME AND THE DISPLAY SHOWED DIFFERENT MILES REMAINING BOTH TIMES (57 & 110 MILES). WE HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AS THIS WAS THE ONLY THING THE MECHANIC COULD THINK WAS WRONG WITH IT. NOT SAFE STALLING AND HAVING NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. *TR
IT ALL STARTED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I HAD THE CODE READ AND IT SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE SENDING UNIT SO I FIND OUT YOU CAN'T JUST REPLACE THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. ALRIGHT SO I HAVE A NEW FUEL PUMP PUT IN AT AROUND $700.00 DOLLARS I HAD THE TECH RESET MY CODES SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF. WHEN I GO TO PUT GAS IN IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON SAME CODE. SO BASICALLY I JUST SPENT 700.00 DOLLARS FOR NOTHING I TAKE IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAY I DON'T KNOW IT COULD BE ANYTHING. AFTER LOOKING INTO IT I'M FINDING OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE KIDS AND THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER I DON'T USE MY FUEL GAUGE RIGHT NOW I JUST MAKE SURE I ALWAYS HAVE GAS. I DON'T THINK IT'S VERY SAFE KNOWING THERE ARE MANY NISSAN VANS OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY QUESTION IS WHEN IS NISSAN GOING TO TAKE RESPONSIBLY FOR THIS MECHANICAL PROBLEM. RECALL MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED! *TR
ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION MY WIFE AND YOUNG SON BECAME STRANDED BY THE VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHILE THE GAS GAUGE READ UP TO 3/8 OF A TANK AND ONBOARD COMPUTER TOLD US 60+ MILES REMAINING BEFORE EMPTY. I SEE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AND MY EXPERIENCES MIRROR THOSE THAT ARE ALREADY REPORTED. HOPEFULLY THE INVESTIGATION WILL PROCEED QUICKLY AND THIS MATTER WILL BE RESOLVED SOON SO I CAN TRUST THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. *TR
I WENT OUT TO GET IN MY VAN I TRIED TO START IT UP THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN OVER HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MIKES FAIRWOOD AUTO AND HE FOUND OUT AFTER LOOKING AT IT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF GAS EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE SAID THERE WAS GAS IN THE VEHICLE HE THEN LOOKED THE NISSAN QUEST UP AND FOUND OUT THEY HAVE HAD 37000 COMPLAINTS AND EVEN DEATHS TO THE GAUGE BEING WRONG I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT I WASN'T DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENED BUT I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A GRIEVANCE AGAINST NISSAN BEFORE ANYBODY ELSE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE DRIFTED TO A STOP. ALL ATTEMPTS T RESTART THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE GAS GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF A TANK OF GAS REMAINING. I SPENT JUST A FEW MINUTE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (2007 NISSAN QUEST). THE SEARCH UNCOVERED LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAULTY GAS GAUGES INDICATING IMPROPER FUEL LEVELS. SO I POURED A FEW GALLONS OF GAS INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING 2 MORE TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. EACH TIME MORE FUEL IS ADDED AND THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH NO TROUBLE.
ON AUGUST 20, 2014 WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM VA TO MD ON I495, OUR 2007 NISSAN QUEST BEGAN TO STALLED AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS HIGHWAY. LUCKILY, THERE WEREN'T MUCH TRAFFIC AND WE WERE ABLE TO PULLED OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH THE VEHICLE'S MOMENTUM. WE ALSO NOTICE THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO STIFFEN UP WHERE IT WAS BECOMING DIFFICULT TO STEER. AT WHICH TIME, WE ALSO NOTICE THAT THE FUEL GAUGE HAD ABOUT 1/4 OF A TANK OF FUEL LEFT AND THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD HAD INDICATED 72 MILES LEFT BEFORE EMPTY. UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE EMERGENCY LANE, WE TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES, THE FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPPED TO E (EMPTY) AND THE DASHBOARD MONITOR DISPLAYED ALL STARS (*****) WHICH INDICATES EMPTY FUEL. AFTER WAITING FOR 1 HOUR, MY FRIEND CAME WITH HIS CAR AND WE WENT TO A GAS STATION AND BOUGHT A CONTAINER WITH 2 GALLON OF GAS WHICH WE PUT IT INTO THE OUR QUEST. AT WHICH TIME THE CAR STARTED NORMAL AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE FOR US. SINCE THE INCIDENT, THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN ACTING UP AND GIVING US FALSE READINGS. JUST LAST WEEK WHEN WE FILLED UP OUR CAR, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DISPLAYING EMPTY. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON A I - 94 WEST FREEWAY THE VAN LOST POWER AND STOPPED. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED THE TANK WAS QUARTER FULL, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A BUSY FREEWAY, AND THERE WERE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE SAME VEHICLE. I HAD TO CALL AAA TO BRING SOME GAS. BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE - THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE. NISSAN HAS RECALLED CARS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS BUT NOT THE QUEST MODEL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATHS OF MY FAMILY. *TR
GAS GAUGE READ THAT I HAD 1/4 OF TANK OF GAS. I DID NOT HAVE ANY. I HAD TO CALL AAA FOR ASSISTANCE. SINCE THEN, MY GAS GAUGE HAS NOT BEEN ACCURATE. I WILL NEED TO HAVE IT SERVICED. *TR
HI WE WERE ON WAY FROM NIAGARA TO HARRISBURG IN OUR NISSAN QUEST 2007. THERE WAS NO MAINTENANCE ISSUE IN MY VEHICLE. I HAD A FUEL FILLED AT CORNING AND ON THE WAY TOWARDS HARRISBURG ON US-15 NEAR TO LAWERENCEVILLE, MY VEHICLE WAS ON 65MPH AND SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STOPPED AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER. MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE GAS TANK WAS EMPTY, EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS OVER 1/8 OF A TANK OR OVER 2 1/2 GALLONS EQUAL TO 50 TO 70 MILES TO EMPTY. *TR

FIRST TIME, I WAS DRIVING ON BUSY TRAFFIC AND LOOKED AT THE GAS GAUGE AND IT DISPLAYED ANOTHER 40-50 MILES TO GAS/FUEL EMPTY, BUT MY QUEST DIED AS IT RAN OUT OF GAS; I HAD NO WARNING OR LIGHT CAME ON. AAA TESTED BATTERY AND IT WAS OKAY; FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING SLIGHTLY BELOW TANK MARK. ASKED AAA TO TOW THE CAR TO MY HOME AS IT WAS GETTING LATE IN EVENING. WHILE LOOKING FOR DETAILS ON INTERNET FOR POSSIBLE CAUSES I NOTICED POSSIBILITIES OF WRONG FUEL INDICATION. SO ADDED A GALLON FUEL AND CAR STARTED AND WORKED NORMALLY. THE FIRST INCIDENT, OCCURRING IN THE SUMMER OF 2014, CAUSED MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST TO STALL/SHUT OFF AND NOTHING WORKED - IT LOST ALL STEERING, POWER, ACCELERATION, BRAKING, ETC. IT JUST DIED, GOING APPROXIMATELY 15MPH WHILE VEERING RIGHT TO TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER. THIS SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT A MONTH LATER, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) GOING UPHILL AT NIGHT. VAN JUST DIED AND I WAS STRANDED ON THE ROAD - LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET FAR ENOUGH NEAR A PRIVATE DRIVEWAY NOT TO GET HIT BY A CAR, AN TO CALL FOR HELP. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING SUFFICIENT GAS LEFT IN THE TANK, BUT IT HAD RUN OUT OF GAS. WE HAD PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR AND LUCKILY THE MECHANIC WAS HONEST AND SMART AND CONCLUDED THAT IT NEEDED FUEL AND THE GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE. LUCKILY ON BOTH OCCASIONS, NONE OF OUR THREE CHILDREN (ONE SPECIAL NEEDS) WERE IN THE VAN. THIS DEFECT LEFT US WITHOUT A SECOND (FAMILY TRANSPORTATION) VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND TO INCUR UNNECESSARY AUTO SHOP COSTS. SECONDLY, WE RECENTLY HAD SUSPENSION WORK DONE, TOTALING OVER $1300.00. THERE WAS APPARENTLY A RECALL FOR THIS, OF WHICH I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE. THE BOLT DEFECT WAS ALSO NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION, BUT THE RATTLING NOISE HAS EXISTED SINCE PURCHASED USED IN 2011. THESE DEFECTS HAVE CAUSED POTENTIAL ENDANGERMENT TO MY FAMILY, INCURRED US COSTLY SHOP/REPAIR COSTS, AND LEFT US WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR DAYS - HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND INCONVENIENT, WHEN ALL WERE KNOWN DEFECTS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO US AND FOR WHICH WE SHOULD NOT HAVE PAID. *TR

I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP, THEY REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, ETC. THE PROBLEM OCCURED AGAIN EVEN AFTER THE FIX. THE TECHNICIANS POINTED OUT TO A REPORT ON NHTSA SITE THAT POINTS TO A OPEN TICKET FOR THIS MODEL AND ISSUE. *TR

NISSAN HAS RECALLED CARS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS BUT NOT THE QUEST MODEL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATHS OF THREE PEOPLE.
