This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. When driving home on the evening of 3/24, I was on the interstate (70mph) when my 2021 Nissan Rogue started to decelerate and would not gain speed. I got off at the next frontage road exit and when at the stop sign my check engine light came on and shortly after my car started sputtering when stopped and would barely gain speed. There was no prior warning lights or signs to indicate an issue. The car dealership was already closed so it was taken the morning of 3/25 where a diagnostic was performed. They said that they would need to replace the Engine Assembly - Long Block and that it wasn't covered since my vin wasn't affected. I called consumer affairs and I am outside of the extended warranty by 2000 miles so they will not assist. This has been a known issue wth Nissans enginea failing, and their extended warranty isn't long enough. My engine should not have juat failed with no warning.
I am reporting a serious safety incident involving my 2021 Nissan Rogue, which caught on fire unexpectedly on Feb. 6, 2026 approximately 4:30 am. The fire originated from the vehicle without warning and posed an immediate danger to life and property. The vehicle was parked at the time of incident. There were no actions taken that would reasonably explain a fire of this nature. This incident could have resulted in severe injury or death. I believe this may be related to a manufacturer defect involving fire risk, and I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate and take appropriate safety action to protect other drivers and passengers.
Door lock actuators on driver side doors failed after less than 4 years. Both were “burnt” out according to Nissan tech. Unable to lock, unlock doors. Safety concerns.
I was on the freeway, going 65mph. Suddenly, i felt my car partially brake. Thank God I was close to an exit and got off safely. My car partially braked again while i was going 35mph down the street. As i cautiously drove home, the FCW kept blinking, even though there was ample distance between me and other cars, and at times, no car in front of me. It's winter time and there's snow on the ground. This could cause an accident!!!
I purchased my vehicle in October 2025 for over $20,000, and It just started having issues on December 8, 2025. I have taken it to the dealership and made the head office aware of the issue I am having. The vehicle experiences delayed or absent braking response when brake pedal is applied. Dealership claims no issue found, but the vehicle fails to decelerate as expected, creating an imminent risk of collision. The vehicle has been at the Coggin Nissan dealership in Jacksonville since January 22,2026. I am not receiving any feedback or response on addressing the issue. I am now renting a car for which Nissan headquarters said will reimburse until yesterday but my issue is not resolved and my car is not safe to drive. Thank you for your help on this matter. I was driving on a four lane road, no car in front in my lane, only a car in the lane to the left and a car behind, when the forward collision warning came up and immediately activated the automatic emergency braking. There were no cars or objects in the road ahead that would have triggered the forward collision warning. Fortunately the car behind did not hit me despite the abrupt and unexpected stop. For context, I have had an ongoing issue with this car detecting shadows when in reverse (mostly in my driveway) and thinking they are objects or people, which triggers the automatic emergency braking. On the day of the incident described above the weather condition was sunny.
The radiator fan has failed, causing the air conditioning to not work unless the car is at high speeds, and at low speeds, the engine is at risk of overheating. The issue seems to be a bad bearing in the fan.
2021 Nissan Rogue Sport. While driving, the Forward Collision Warning/Automatic Emergency Braking system will sometimes activate without reason. The vehicle applies the brakes suddenly, even when there are no obstacles, vehicles, or hazards in front of me. This false activation occurs intermittently and poses a safety concern, as it can cause unexpected braking in traffic. The issue has happened under normal driving conditions, without any obstructions on the road.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated briefly and applied the automatic emergency braking system, and the vehicle quickly decelerated. The contact stated that system activated without any other vehicles or objects nearby. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,500.
The engine fan fails causing the fan to move and coolant levels to diminish which causes the engine to over heat.
I am having a problem with my Front Driver Side Door Lock Actuator, because of the faulty actuator, the car door remain unlocked while driving and this is a big safety risk
I believe my cars computer is being hacked. Some things I’ve noticed are stereo issues the volume goes up and down or the music skips intermittently. Some times the music turns off. The collision symbol prompts on the dash. Acceleration issues. Antilock breaks don’t work, sometimes. Safety features are being turned off. My maps goes offline. My update for maps in Nebraska isn’t listed but all the other states are listed. Awd button doesn’t work, sometimes. I am worried for my safety. I took it to Nissan and they updated the sonar component system. It helped some. Stereo issues are still present. Music is still turning off by itself. Volume is still going up and down and the radio not a CD is skipping intermittently. Nissan stated they have no testing to see if any malware has been installed. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs. They are chosing to do nothing at this time.
While in drive mode my car just shut off. The dash cluster, screen, etc remained on. I was able to put the car in park and start it again, however this could have caused me a horrible accident losing power while in drive like this. I just purchased this vehicle in June of 2024. It has 81k on it. I called the dealership which I bought it at Mccarthy Auto in Sedalia MO. They said I should call Nissan.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport. The contact stated while opening the trunk, the windshield wiper detached. The front windshield wipers failed to spray or wipe the screen properly, creating a distorted screen while driving. The contact also stated that the door trims on all 4 doors were detaching. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the wipers needed to be replaced. The dealer sent the contact to Pep Boys to replace the front wipers. There were no other repairs made. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,840.
The FCW system would come on for no reason. I've had the car 3 months this had been a problem as well as other crash warnings of the vehicle during this time period. then on May 31st I was in an accident that I should have gotten a warning as to to close but didn't. I had reported to the dealership I purchased car from but no information to help. I'm upset. I have read that this is an ongoing problem with the make, year, and model. Do I have any recourse to address to the maker, Nissan?
I was driving alone on city streets approx 35 mph when the car suddenly braked for no apparent reason. There was no one close ahead or (luckily) close behind me, but there could easily have been. There was no heads up warning, just sudden braking. I have not taken it to repair shop because I just don't have the time or capacity.
UNKNOWN I fell victim to a wiretapping incident that is still under Federal investigation that began in my vehicle on June 23rd, 2023. This concern is in regard to life safety and loss of control of the vehicle on or around the same time, due to radio transmission feedback beeping coming from the passenger side speaker, as well as what sounded like an emergency response unit radio. The noise would not stop until I pulled the plug on the battery of the car as well as the fuse panel to the head unit. While driving the vehicle in Converse TX around August 1st, 2023, I noticed the speedometer locking at a higher than average speed for the area I was in, like it would go into cruise control automatically, without my consent. I then hit the brake to slow it down, but the speedometer locked again and would read what I believed to be 5mph over the speed limit, but I could hear the engine revving and feel myself speeding up. I parked the car and pulled the majority of the fuse panel after this event, barely used it, reset the firmware version on the head unit and do not have this issue today. I reported this to Nissan twice in person, once on the phone and twice in writing. Nissan refuses to look into it until I pay for them to plug up their equipment to determine what happened and that there is nothing wrong since there is not yet a recall leading to my event.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the driver’s side low beam light was no longer illuminated due to its expected life span. The vehicle was taken for the bulb replacement, and the contact was informed that the wiring harness for the driver’s side light bulb was burned. The dealer was unable to determine why the wire had overheated and burned while the low beam headlight was activated. The light bulb was replaced, and the wiring harness was replaced 3 times. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 106,864.
AEB activates randomly without any warning. Happens quarterly since 2022.
The actuators on the doors are failing, so the door locks are unreliable. I paid to have the front passenger door's actuator replaced at a cost to me of almost $700. Now I am having the same issue with the driver's side actuator, which means another $700 repair. I worry that the same thing will happen to the two back doors. To me, this is a quality issue. The car is barely 3 years old (i purchased it in August 2020). If I don't spend the money to get this fixed, I run the risk of getting carjacked or the car broken into. I have tried and failed to get any kind of resolution from Nissan consumer affairs - they keep using stall tactics rather than being straightforward. I am also unhappy with the resolution of the jackknife key recall. They did the bare minimum to resolve this issue and now I have a key that is forced to stay in the open position at all times. The key is now over 4" long. It's also sharp and I've lost count of how many times I've stabbed my leg and put holes in my pants pockets.
