Unknown.I have problems sometimes after I stop to get out with my doors not unlocking like they should.Happens off and on
While driving, I noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. Within moments, flames appeared in the engine area and spread quickly, causing severe damage to the front portion of the car including the engine, electrical system, and body. No warning lamps, error messages, or unusual behavior were observed prior to the incident. The fire started suddenly without any indication of mechanical or electrical issues. My safety and the safety of others nearby were put at risk as the fire escalated rapidly. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected by the manufacturer or dealer yet, but the vehicle was completely disabled and is no longer operable due to the fire damage. Cause of the fire is UNKNOWN at this time.
The vehicle sustained major damage in a collision totaling the vehicle and no airbags deployed
CVT problem stopped on highway with kids in car put our life at risk called you all about the extended warranty or help fixing transmission. I was told it’s nothing you all can do because the warranty was expired but there’s a class action lawsuit saying thousands of people are having the same specific problem
The CVT transmission on this Nissan sentra vehicle failed at 100,000 miles. Had it failed before 84,000 miles it would have been covered under a warranty. The VIN shows this is a Nissan vehicle that had a known defective CVT transmission. Is there any way I can get repairs paid for by Nissan even though this transmission lasted longer than most of these defective CVT transmissions due to good maintainance?
Transmission failed, as I went to turn left it stalled and on coming traffic had to slam on there brakes and 6 veh. Ran into each other i dud not get hit but feel so bad that the 2914 nissan sentra i drive caused this traffic hazard. 2 people had to go to the hospital. It should be illegal to sell these cars with ctv Transmission Nissan sould have to put reg. Transmission in all there veh. Already sold and any to be sold and NHTSA Should be fined for not doing your jobs. These vehicles. ARE a safety hazard. All [XXX] as much as nissan INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The tail light on the drivers rear has condensation. Therefore, my brake lights flicker. When putting the parking lights/headlights on, the power to the gas pedal is cut. RPMs go down and the car simply does not have power to accelerate.
On 6/22/25, I was in a side-impact collision while turning into a gas station. A driver waved me through, but another car came rushing through the outer lane and hit the front passenger side of my 2014 Nissan Sentra. The impact caused serious damage, but none of the airbags deployed. There were no warning lights before or after. My hip hit the emergency brake during the collision. I felt okay at first, but I’m starting to notice some discomfort now. I also have scoliosis, which makes even small impacts something I have to watch closely. My VIN shows no recalls, but I’ve found this model has had known airbag issues. I’m reporting this as a serious safety failure. If this had happened at higher speeds, it could’ve been fatal.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle ceased to accelerate as intended with an abnormally loud sound coming from the transmission. The vehicle eventually came to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not under recall and referred the contact to the local dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
While I’m driving it starts to stall. Especially after I press on the breaks and try to press on the gas again it being ins to like jerk and not want to go. I thought it was my suspension or that it needed a wheel alignment but after paying for those to get renewed it’s still having that problem and the mechanic said it was most likely the transmission.
Purchased vehicle from car dealership as is. In 1.5 weeks the CVT transmission went bad
As I was driving on the interstate, traffic came to a complete stop. When the traffic resumed, approximately 2-3 minutes later, I took my foot off the brake to press the gas pedal and vehicle would not drive. I tried shifting the gears to see if the vehicle was stuck in gear, it was not. My vehicle came to a complete halt in a "kill zone" area of the interstate without any mechanical malfunction warning and this is unsatisfactory. My transmission was replaced in 2020 because of a recall issue and now not even 5 years later, I am having issues with the same transmission. The dealer informed me that the CVT Transmissions on my model and others of the same year, are no good. They have several other vehicles waiting for the same repair with the same issues. I truly believe this issue could potentially lead to a life-or-death situation especially with the issue coming out of nowhere. I am requesting that a national recall be issued on the transmissions before some potentially loses their life, such as myself, in a "kill zone" area when the mechanical issue took place. I am looking forward to a swift resolution.
I've looked up the years of my vehicle and the year 2014 falls within transmission problems. Cvt to be exact. My transmission just went out and zero chance of fixing. $5000 minimum. Cut has been known to have faults
2014 Nissan Sentra. Transmission began inexplicably slipping and failed within a month. 120k miles. Very lightly driven, relatively low mileage car, driven for 2 years by our [XXX] daughter. I see there were relatively widespread recalls on various Nissan Sentra CVT transmissions in this time frame and our VIN isn't included but this is definitely a manufacturer problem. She ended up stuck in the middle of a major intersection unable to move, engine running but no drivetrain, had to call 911 for help. Police pushed her out of the way. Emotionally traumatic situation of course. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving down the highway and my vehicle all of a sudden started sputtering. The speed dropped quickly as a car almost rear ended me. Then it went back to normal so I continued driving and then it did it again and stopped completely. There’s no check engine light on or any other warnings. Had the vehicle towed to Firestone and they told me it is the transmission. They said I should call Nissan dealership because my model and year is known for this problem and should be a recall. So I call Nissan and they said yes there is some recalls for that year and model but my vin number isn’t on recall list. That doesn’t make since to me. Are they installing different transmissions in the same year and model?
Began to have transmission issues several years ago, slipping and eventually could not even accelerate at all. Had to have a full replacement done in February 2023. Only driven 13,000 miles since replacement and it is slipping and failing again. No major signals or warnings prior to the slipping beginning again. Have had two different shops inspect and confirm transmission is the issue again.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving 35-65 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle was slow to respond and to stop. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The contact stated that the engine, traction control, and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the oxygen sensor, rotors, and brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. While driving, the vehicle started to stall. The brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle was slow to respond. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Entire car needs repairs problems with starting
On December 23rd, my 2014 Nissan Sentra lost all acceleration power while driving. The car was then towed to a nearby independent service center where they discovered a faulty transmission. I was made aware of the CVT Transmission recall by Nissan and I believe this is the issue with my car. I would like to have my car inspected by an authorized Nissan dealership so that the proper actions can be taken to repair all malfunctions.
Transmission clutches are swollen and would make car loose throttle but I’m not to sure I got everything checked out new throttle busy and all so idk why my car hesitate to get up to speed or looses throttal
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle gradually stopped. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed but failed to gain forward momentum. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact waited for one hour and started the vehicle and the vehicle regained normal functionality; however, the contact stated that vehicle was hesitating while shifting into drive(D) and depressed the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that a symbol of a vehicle was flashing off and on, on the instrument cluster. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while stopped at an intersection to make a left turn, the contact's vehicle was crashed into the rear end of the vehicle by another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags had not deployed. The vehicle was driven by the contact's granddaughter to a repair shop. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
My moonroof spontaneously exploded while driving to work on the interstate. There was a very loud boom that sounded like a bomb or tire exploding and then glass started raining down on me while driving. Luckily, my children were not with, as there were small pieces of glass throughout the interior cabin including the back seat where they sit. I was driving alongside a semi when it happened and was at about the mid point of the semi's length. I initially thought the semi's tire blew and debris hit a passenger side window until the glass started falling on me. I live in Michigan. The temperature was around 30 degrees to 32 degrees. No snow, rain, or ice was on the moonroof or on the road that could have been kicked up to cause the break. The road and adjacent ground were completely dry. I parked in the garage overnight and had been on the road approximately 15 minutes when it happened. I was driving approximately 76 mph. This is the second time my moonroof exploded with this vehicle. The first time happened approximately 5+ years ago and the glass was replaced by a local glass shop under an insurance claim with Progressive Insurance. With the first incident, the result was a round hole maybe 9" in diameter, so I thought a large rock hit it. I was completely distraught over it, pulled over to the side of the road in morning rush hour traffic, and searched for a rock in the car. I found nothing. At the time of the first incident, it happened during a warmer Michigan month; though, I do not recall the specific timeframe. It was well above 50 degrees when it happened. I had been on the road for maybe 10 minutes and was driving approximately 70 mph. Now that it has happened a second time, I am absolutely convinced both incidents were due to a vehicle flaw. It happened yesterday, 12/11/2023. I have an appointment on 12/14/2023 with Graff Nissan in Okemos to have it reviewed. I am looking for a new vehicle because I'm scared to drive it.
CVT failure. When putting the vehicle in gear, or idling while in gear, engine stalls. When this occurs on roadways, the car may or may not be drivable and puts the occupants of the vehicle as well as other motorists at risk. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. This does not appear to be a wear issue, the vehicle has low mileage and has been properly maintained. There are no warning messages or dashboard indicator lights suggesting a problem.
Defective component is the CVT Transmission. Vehicle involuntary non shifting, and stalling. Component was inspected by independent service center. Vehicle has been inspected by deale of any other person besides independent service center. n No system indicator or previous warning was given.
The transmission is flawed and a safety hazard as it goes out at very low miles and stops working in traffic causing accidents to nearly happen. When I looked it up it’s very common for this to happen in this make of model.
Transmission suddenly went out while driving on a busy road after no prior issues and left me stranded. After that, it completely locked up and won’t even roll in neutral. Car was only 9 years old, 93,500 miles. Per mechanic it needs to be replaced and has seen other young Nissan transmissions with the same issues.
Airbags failed to deploy during collision. Driver was injured. The issue can be seen, so was not confirmed by service center. The vehicle will be inspected by insurance adjuster. No advance warning light/message forecasting problem with airbags. Incident involving 3 vehicles: Driver was in slow traffic on highway but traveling approximately 35 miles per hour. Car in front braked suddenly, causing driver to brake, causing car in back to brake suddenly. The rear car was unable to stop and plowed into the driver's vehicle, Nissan Sentra, sending it into the front car. The front of the Nissan suffered heavy impact and was badly damaged, but the airbags did not deploy. The driver of the Nissan suffered a labral tear in the shoulder.
I've gone to the Nissan center in Antioch to have the transmission fixed due to a failure on the freeway. Cars Rpms went up and my foot was pressed down on the accelerator. The Center said they fixed it and I shouldn't have issues. 4 years later I'm starting to have the same issues.
I was driving to work, rpm’s suddenly started to surge. Pulled up to a stop light to get off the road and vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection and would not move except in reverse. Other vehicles(semis) had to brake hard and go around me. Called Nissan and they said they couldn’t do anything since it is at 120k miles and I feel they are 100% liable since there was a class action for this type of repair.
Car slips and jerks when accelerating at any speed as low as 10 mph. Check engine light came on, code is transmission failure. The code came on before routine maintenance was required. The car was not fixed and should have not had this issue happen.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Transmission failure in under 3 years. I replaced my transmission and rear assembly in 2022-23. It started with pressing the gas pedal and the car wouldn’t accelerate while in heavy traffic. I spent over $3,000 on a brand new engine. Come 2024 the exact same problem with the repair price being quoted at around $7,000. There was no hard driving on the car so I don’t understand how it’s going so soon. I’ve never had so much trouble with a car.
Hello I was driving on the highway yesterday when my transmission failed. The car stopped accelerating and would not increase speed despite my foot being on the gas. I was hit several times before navigating to the median. If not for me being calm under pressure my life and the lives of other motorists were at risk. This is unacceptable.
Transmission (CVT) seems to be slipping between or not wanting to change gears. The car will shake, judder, stall during acceleration. If I needed to accelerate suddenly, The car would stall and judder potentially causing an accident. I have a service appointment scheduled with a dealer to investigate. The vehicle has NOT been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There there no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The issue first appeared 3/23/23
Slips when accerating
2014 NISSAN SENTRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO SAFETY HAZARDS ON THEIR VEHICLE.
While driving RPM needle started going up and down and car stopped accelerating. Had car towed to repair shop to be told the transmission is bad. This could easily have caused an accident. Nissan needs to issue a recall and replace these. All the previous complaints shows an obvious problem.
The check engine light keeps coming on with a P0101 indication Mass or Volume Air Flow Curcuit Range/ Performance Problem. The filter was changes, the Mass Air Flow Sensor was changes, and the PCV valve was changed but the light keeps coming on. The vehicle also will not accelerate as fast and sometimes will not go over a certain speed. The vehicle sometimes startes to rolls backwards when in drive when idling. The vehicle also shakes when slowing down from a higher speed i.e. when you are on the freeway and then have to slow to lower speeds no matter how much distance you give. I have almost been rear ended and run backwards at the light because the vehicle goes backwards then goes forward. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR 2014 NISSIAN OWNERS.
While driving on the highway and when I try to accelerate in my Nissan Sentra, I've noticed that my transmission was starting to jerk. Because of this, I took my Nissan Sentra to a Nissan service center to get it inspected. The mechanic informed me that my transmission is faulty. I purchased my car in 2014 and only have 68,000 miles on it so I was shocked that my transmission is already having issues. Once I started to research Nissan Sentra CVT transmissions online, I noticed that there were numerous complainants from many consumers regarding this CVT transmission. I was told by the mechanic that I had to replace and fully pay for the transmission which costs $6,500 and Nissan Corporate was not going to help in anyway. This is unacceptable that Nissan is selling cars with faulty parts knowing that they will have to be repaired or replaced sooner than anyone can anticipate. It's also very dangerous to drive on these transmissions as they can breakdown any moment, potentially leading to a car accident and bodily injuries. Any Nissan car with this faulty transmission should be recalled. I currently have a 2014 transmission Sentra SV. I am currently in need of a transmission. This would be the 2nd transmission. Nissan corporate is stating that there is nothing that they can do for me they are very unprofessional and unapologetic on the issue that they have with their transmission. I I have contacted the head quarters to see if they could at least pay for half of the cost and the super Carl was very rude and stated that he was confused on what I thought that he could do. He also advise that that he was unaware of any issues with a 2014 Nissan Sentra. I advise that this was very funny since there was a law suit again Nissan because of this exact same issue. I am very disappointment in how things are going. I personally don’t have the money to get a new car nor buy a new transmission I think that since has been a knee issue Nissan should help pay or either pay for all services with the transmission
I was driving and my car didn't speed up when I push the pedal, and the car behind me almost crash en me.
The contact owned a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that his daughter had veered off the road while driving at 40 MPH. As she attempted to correct the vehicle, the vehicle rolled over several times and landed in a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. The fire department and ambulance arrived at the scene and his daughter was taken to the hospital. The contact was informed that police were not needed at the scene; therefore, a police report was not filed. The contact's daughter was treated at the hospital for both neck and head trauma as well as injuries to her left leg, left wrist, and left middle finger. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard but was later towed to an inspection station by his insurance where it was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 106,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 82,424.
My Nissan Sentra burst into flames on July 27,2022-not sure why this occurred; the car was last serviced before this incident on June 17, 2022-the car's Compressor/AC were replaced. I had just parked the car at a hotel when the fire began. The only inspection was from a fire marshal and the insurance company that car was a complete loss. There was no warning when this happened and had I had a full tank of gasoline this would have gravely injured me. The car had seven years of meticulous upkeep so this catastrophe was totally unexpected. The autos parked on either side of me suffered serious damage as well.
Daughter described pushing break to the bottom /or floor boards while the car slowly began to slow. Yes, the vehicle is currently available for inspection. An impact occurred to daughter which caused bruising and duress. Another vehicle was struck. No, the problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service ctr. No. None that my daughter reported. I had driven the vehicle a few days prior and noticed nothing unusual upon breaking.
