I OWN A 2004 NISSAN TITAN LE 2 WHEEL DRIVE WITH 74,600 MILES. I FOUND THAT I HAD A LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO GET IT FIX AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULD BE REPLACED ALSO BUT AT $600.00 A CRACK TO REPLACE ONE SIDE I COULD ONLY AFFORD TO DO THE BAD ONE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET ABOUT OTHER OWNERS OF TITANS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR REAR AXLE SEALS PREMATURELY FAILING WITH LOW MILEAGE I THINK NIACIN NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. IT A SHAM THAT THEY CHARGE YOU $500 TO $600 TO HAVE THESE REPLACED WHEN YOU CAN BUY THE BEARINGS OFF THE INTERNET FOR $75.00.... *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HE DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MAKE A CLANKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE AND THE GEARS INSIDE THE AXLE FAILED. THE CONTACT PAID APPROXIMATELY $3,300 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 67,400.
I HAVE AN 04 NISSAN TITAN PURCHASED 05 WITH 86,000 MILES ON IT. THE REAR END STARTED JERKING AROUND AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE RENDERED USELESS DURING TRANSPORT. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEALS STARTED TO LEAK AND WITHIN A WEEK I HERD A FAINT NOISE. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WAS RENDERED INOPERABLE. *TR
ABS BRAKE SYSTEM, THE WARNING LIGHT BRAKE CAME OUT WHILE DRIVING WHEN I PRESS ON BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE FROZE AND WHEN I STOPPED ENGINE AND RESTART THE PROBLEM IS DISAPPEAR BUT IS HAPPENED QUITE OFTEN WHEN I GO TO DEALER THEY WILL CHARGED FOR INSPECTION FOR A LOT OFF MONEY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND WOULD COST $3,300 TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 79,000.

REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS; 2004 NISSAN TITAN. *TR
PROBLEM STARTED GRADUALLY AS OCCASIONAL NOISES, SUCH AS "CLUNKING" AND RATTLING, FROM THE WHEELS WHILE DRIVING. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. ONE DAY LATER WHILE DRIVING, HEARD AWFUL GRATING NOISE FROM WHEELS AND ABS/VDC LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PAD BROKE LOOSE AND DESTROYED THE ROTOR, THE ABS SENSOR, ETC. ($1,200 IN DAMAGE). DURING THE TWO WEEKS AFTER SERVICE, THE BRAKE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THE BRAKES REACT AS IF IN ABS MODE AND GRIP AND GRIND WHILE STOPPING. TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE USUALLY MAKES THE LIGHT GO OFF AND THE BRAKES THEN OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALER, WHO STATED THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE REAR END IS MAKING HORRIBLE CLANKING SOUND AND TOOK TO A SHOP, THEY SAID IT WAS GOING OUT. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN TITAN LE 4X4 CREW CAB WITH 77K MILES AND BOTH REAR OUTER AXLE SEALS LEAK PROFUSELY. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NUMEROUS TITAN OWNERS AND I FEEL THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPORTED TO THE NHTSA. I HAVE OEM STOCK WHEELS AND TIRES ON IT AND DON'T HAVE ANY SUSPENSION OR DRIVELINE MODIFICATIONS. *TR
DVS SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE BAD, SYSTEM WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT WENT BAD AGAIN. WAS TOLD THIS IS AN ISSUE IN ALL 2004, 2005, AND SOME 2006 TITANS AND ARMADAS. TRYING TO FIGHT PAYMENT OF THIS REPAIR WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, AND AM BEING PUT OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE AND SMELLED EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE EXHAUST FUMES PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

REAR AXLE OIL SEAL FAILURE. LEAKED OIL ON TO BRAKE PADS CAUSING REDUCED BRAKE PERFORMANCE. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 TITAN CREW CAB 4X4 WITH 61,000 MILES. APRIL OF 2009 I CHECKED MY AIR CONDITIONER AND FOUND IT NOT TO BE COOLING. I TOOK IT IN THE MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME I HAD A LEAK IN THE HIGH PRESSURE AC HOSE. CHARGES FOR REPAIR $450.00. OK NO PROBLEM. IN THE FOLLOWING MONTH OF MAY AFTER RETURNING FROM A TRIP I FOUND OIL BELOW THE RIGHT AXEL. AGAIN I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR THE POWER STEERING WAS BOTH LEAKING. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE HOSE BRACKETS ON THAT MODEL WERE BAD AND THAT ALONG WITH NEW HOSES HE PUT ON THE NEW TYPE OF BRACKETS. HE DIDN'T SAY WHY THE HOSES LEAKED OTHER THAN "YOU KNOW THE TRUCK IS FIVE YEARS OLD." BY THE WAY THE COST FOR THAT REPAIR $859.00. SO IN THE SPAN OF 30 DAYS I HAVE SPENT OVER $1300.00 TO HAVE ALL OF THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSES REPLACED. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE HOSES LIKE THIS ON ANY VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED AND SOME I KEPT FOR UP TO TEN YEARS. IS IT THE HOSES THAT ARE SUB-STANDARD OR IS IT THE CLAMPS THAT WORE THROUGH THE HOSES? EITHER WAY ALL THE HOSES SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED REPLACEMENT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. IT DOESN'T MATTER I WAS LOOKING BUYING A NEW TITAN UNTIL THIS CAME UP. NO NEW TITAN FOR ME. *TR
MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND BOOM A LOUD BANG FOLLOWED BY NO FORWARD MOVEMENT WHILE IN DRIVE AND LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVESHAFT STILL SPINS WHILE IN GEAR. SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER NISSAN TITAN REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE 27,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK, I WAS IN 2 TIMES FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS THE LAST TIME THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED RIGHT DUE TO THE NEW BRAKES. I HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN AT 27,000 MILES AND THEY SAY WARRANTY IS OUT!! THIS WAS UNDER ENGINEERED AND NOW ITS MY PROBLEM. ALSO THE REAR SPRING SHACKLE BROKE SENDING THE LEAF SPRING INTO THE BED OF THE TRUCK DENTING IT. I BOUGHT AFTER MARKET SHACKLES AND FOUND THE OTHER SIDE WAS CRACKED. *TR
RIGHT SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ON BRAKE DRUM. NISSAN TITAN 04 LE. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE. FIRST NOTICE OIL LEAKING FROM BOTH AXLE SEALS WHEN CHANGING SHOCKS AT 41,000 MILES. BROUGHT TO DEALER WAS TOLD AXLE SEALS HAD FAILED AND WERE GOING TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, AT 44,400 MILES WENT TO GET INSPECTION STICKER AND THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATING THIS WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SEALS HAD FAILED AGAIN AND SLUNG OIL ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM I WOULD THINK THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS TIME THEY FIXED THE SEALS BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE FAILING DUE TO THE FACT OF A PROBLEM WITH THE AXLE, NOW I AM OVER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY AND THERE TELLING ME IT MY NOT BE COVERED STILL WAITING TO HEAR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO BE FIXED AT NISSANS EXPENSE. ONE TIME THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND SOMEONE'S BRAKE ARE GOING TO FAIL FROM THE OIL AND CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH! SOMETHING NEED TO BE DONE BEFORE ITS TO LATE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE EXHAUST TAIL PIPE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO AN UNKNOWN OBSTACLE ON THE ROAD SURFACE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS OPENED, THE PARKING LIGHT ACTIVATED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE TURN SIGNAL WAS NONFUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TAIL PIPE DISENGAGEMENT CONTRIBUTED TO THE MELTING OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE IS OPERABLE AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
2004 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB LE. DRIVER'S SIDE REAR AXLE OIL SEAL FAILED AT SOME TIME PRIOR TO 52,000 MILE INSPECTION. OIL OBSERVED ON ENTIRE REAR BACKING PLATE. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN RECENTLY STARTED LEAKING GEAR OIL FROM BOTH AXLES IN THE REAR. CONCURRENTLY MY BRAKE PADS STARTING ABSORBING THE OIL WHICH IN TURN RUINED MY ROTORS, BRAKE PADS, AND NOW IS COSTING ME A PRETTY PENNY TO GET IT FIXED. MY MECHANIC SAID THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORES DO NOT CARRY THESE BEARINGS AND SEALS AND THEREFORE MUST CONTACT THE ORIGINAL DEALER TO ORDER THEM. AFTER READING AND FOLLOWING UP ON THE ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS BY MANY OTHER TITAN OWNERS, I AM CURIOUS TO FIND OUT WHAT STEPS IN NISSAN TAKING TO RECALL THESE BAD SEALS AND BEARINGS? WHY SHOULD US THE OWNERS HAVE TO FIX COSTLY REPAIRS WHEN NISSAN KNOWS THEIR PRODUCTION EFFORTS WERE NOT PROPERLY TESTED BEFORE FIELDING THE DEALERSHIPS? PLEASE INFORM ME HOW TO GET IT FIXED FREE OF COST TO ME. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN TITAN, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE SEALS TWICE ALREADY.(ONCE MARCH 2009 AND ONCE ABOUT 1.5 YEARS AGO. WARRANTY COVERED, BUT I AM GETTING CLOSE TO MY WARRANTY LIMIT. I KNOW THAT THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THE FLUID LEAKS DOWN ON YOUR BRAKES, WHICH IS A BIG FACTORY FAULT. I WAS JUST HOPING THAT SOMEONE COULD HELP ME, AND OTHER TITAN OWNERS, FOR THE SAFETY AND MONEY, OUT OF POCKET WHEN WARRANTY IS UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANIFOLD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS INSTRUCTED TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD EVERY FIVE YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING, FLUID LEAKING ONTO BRAKE ASSEMBLY; LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL SEEPING. SEALS HAD BEEN LEAKING FOR A WHILE. ON WWW.TITANTALK.COM PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS AXLE SEAL FAILURES. NISSAN SHOULD RECALL ALL TITANS AND PATHFINDERS WITH THIS AXLE VENT SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE VENT WITH SOMETHING BETTER. UNTIL THIS IS PERFORMED, AXLE SEALS WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL AND FLUID WILL CONTINUE TO POTENTIALLY LEAK ONTO BRAKE ASSEMBLIES CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
FRONT AXLE JUST FELL OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, RESULTING IN A $2300 REPAIR APPARENTLY NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO BREAK. *TR
MY TRUCK SOUNDED SLIGHTLY LOUDER THAN NORMAL ON MY SHORT DRIVE HOME. I WAS DRIVING ON A 35MPH ROAD AND SOMETHING DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT. IT SOUNDED LIKE MY TIRES WERE OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I DROVE THE HALF MILE HOME ON THE 35MPH ROAD IN 2WD. I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE AND LOOKED AT MY TIRES AND UNDER MY TRUCK. EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL. THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED SOME OIL ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I SAW IT WAS COMING FROM MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AXLE SEAL. MY AXLE WAS PULLED LOOSE FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL BECAUSE SOME WEAK CLIP THAT HELD THE ASSEMBLY TOGETHER HAS BROKEN. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO GET AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A ONE OF A KIND PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF. MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TOLD ME IT WOULD BE SEVERAL DAYS TO GET PARTS AND REPAIR THE DAMAGE. THEY ESTIMATED THE COST WOULD BE BETWEEN $350-$600 TO REPLACE THE FRONT RIGHT AXLE, AXLE SEAL, AND CLIP. ADDITIONAL COST AND PARTS WOULD BE NECESSARY IF ANY FURTHER DAMAGE WAS FOUND IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. *TR

THE REAR AXLE SEALS AND PINION SEALS WERE BLOWN OUT WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY VENT THAT NISSAN HAS USED ON THERE TITAN PICK UP TRUCKS. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN REAREND FAILURE JUST AFTER EXTENDED WARRENTY!!NO PARTS OFFERED FROM DEALER AFTERMARKET PARTS ARE TRING TO PICK UP THE SLACK . SO FAR NO LUCK!! *TR
4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL UNIT BAD, 4X4 WON'T ENGAGE THE UNITS IS DEFECTIVE THAT NISSAN HAS IT IN BACKORDER NATIONALLY. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL 2004 NISSAN TITAN FAILURE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING. BRAKE WARP AND SHAKE. THESE ARE OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NISSAN SHOULD FIX THEM AT NO COST TO OWNER. THESE ARE ALSO CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUES. WE ARE TALKING BRAKE FAILURE AND POSSIBLE REAR END LOCK UP. THIS IS UNHEARD OF WITH A VEHICLE WITH THIS MILEAGE. *TR
THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE SO I'M OFFICIALLY REPORTING. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 16 YEARS. IN THAT TIME, I'VE REPEATEDLY HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM AT DIFFERENT TIMES STARTING IN 2006, BUT DEFINITELY IN 2009. I'VE BROUGHT IT UP WITH DEALERS IN BOTH SACO, ME & WAKE FOREST, NC. EACH TIME THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. FINALLY AFTER THE LAST TIME THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN ABOUT THE COMPUTER NEEDING AN UPDATE. WHICH COST MULTIPLE HUNDREDS TO INSTALL. THIS INSTALL DEFINITELY DECREASED THE INCIDENTS OF MULTIPLE BRAKE FAILINGS WHILE DRIVING, BUT DIDN'T COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM. I'M JUST NOW LEARNING THAT IT'S A FAULTY DELTA STROKE SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO NISSAN FOR THE TITAN AND ARMADA MODELS. I NEVER GOT THE POSTCARD ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT IT WOULDN'T HAVE HELPED SINCE THEY NEVER IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE OR MAYBE EVEN HID IT FROM ME DURING MY VISITS. BECAUSE OF THIS I'M OUT OF THE WINDOW FOR THE LAWSUIT AND AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. MY '04 STILL ONLY HAS 78,000 MILES AND MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. NISSAN JUST HAD TO PAY 25 MILLION TO A FAMILY THAT WAS HIT BY ONE OF THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES, BUT STILL WILL NOT CLAIM THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DELTA SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER. PLEASE MAKE THEM FIX THIS ISSUE TO SAVE LIVES AND PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THE BOOSTER CAN BE RESET AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY, BUT TO DO THIS YOU HAVE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BRAKES FLUTTERING AND NOT RESPONDING. THEN YOU SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR 10 SECONDS AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS USUALLY FIXES THE ISSUE, BUT IT CAN RETURN AT ANY TIME. USUALLY WHEN YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN DRIVING FOR AWHILE. STARTED BACK IN 2006, BUT GOT WORSE IN 2009. COMPUTER FIX LESSENED ISSUE, BUT STILL OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
