BRAKES ON 2004 NISSAN TITAN FAILED WHILE STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. JUST PRIOR TO FAILURE, BRAKE LIGHT LIT UP ON DASHBOARD. NISSAN DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE BRAKES THEMSELVES WERE FINE BUT THAT THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE BRAKES "LOST ITS PROGRAMMING." I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT I AM THE 3RD CUSTOMER IN 6 MONTHS TO HAVE THIS EVENT OCCUR TO THEM. TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER MUST "REPROGRAM THE VDC SYSTEM." DEALER WAS UNABLE TO TELL ME WHY THIS HAPPENED OR ASSURE ME THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE WILL NOT REOCCUR. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NISSAN HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE LED TO A CATASTROPIC ACCIDENT HAD THE BRAKES FAILED DURING A CRITICAL TIME. I AM CONCERNED THAT NISSAN HAS A KNOWN BRAKE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL IN PLACE. *TR
DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BEEN REPORTED, BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE NISSAN TITANS (MANY YEARS) WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKING. I HAVE A 2004 AND BOTH OF THEM HAVE BEEN CRACKED FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS NOW. I CONTACTED NISSAN, THEY SUGGESTED TO CONTACT NISSAN CORPORATE, AND PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF LUCK. THE MANIFOLDS ARE OVER $850 EACH, AND BOTH OF MINE ARE SEVERELY CRACKED, CAUSING ENGINE, EMISSION, AND SAFETY/HEALTH PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MANY O2 SENSORS, CAT'S, AND MUFFLERS, DUE TO BURNING UP, AND HAVE TO DRIVE WITH ALL MY WINDOWS DOWN AND SHORT TRIPS DUE TO THE EXHAUST FILLING THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, AS THIS IS NOT ONLY AN ISSUE, BUT A MAJOR FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE TRUCK. I HAVE HAD CHECKED OUT AT A LOCAL SHOP, AND THEIR EXACT WORDS WERE "THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FLEX IN THE EXHAUST, SO WHEN THE ENGINE SHIFTS FROM DRIVING AND REVVING, THE MANIFOLDS ARE THE WEAKEST POINT AND THEREFORE CRACK". SOMETHING SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE DONE OR LOOKED INTO. MANY NISSAN TITAN FORUMS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. USUALLY ONLY ONE IS CRACKED, BUT I HAVE BOTH CRACKED. IF YOU NEED A VEHICLE TO INSPECT, YOU CAN LOOK AT MINE. I EVEN HAD THE EXHAUST UPGRADED TO BIGGER EXHAUST IN HOPES OF RELIEVING SOME OF THE PRESSURE, SO IT DOESN'T LEAK ALL OUT UNDER THE HOOD, AND THAT HAS HELPED SOME, BUT THIS IS SERIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN AND USABILITY OF THESE NISSAN TITAN TRUCKS. AND, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ALOT OF PEOPLE, BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND OVER $1600 IN JUST 2 PARTS, PLUS ALL THE OTHER REQUIRED PARTS, WHEN I CAN BARELY AFFORD TO PAY THE BANK ON THE TRUCK. *TR *BF *TR
CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF REAR DIFFERENTIAL RING AND PINION ASSY. ORIGINAL OWNER, NO ABUSE. GEARSET SHOWED TOO MUCH GEAR LASH AT AROUND 48,000 MILES, BUT EXHIBITED NO SIGNS OF FAILURE UNTIL 62,000 MILES. NISSAN TITAN WITH E-LOCKER DIFFERENTIAL (OFF ROAD PACKAGE)>. *TR
THE DOOR HANDLES LOCK EITHER OPEN OR CLOSED AND CAN LOCK YOU OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE EVEN IF THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED OR LOCK THE DOOR OPEN WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE YOUR DOOR. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN - REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH FRONT BRAKES. ROTORS, CALIPERS REPLACED OR RESURFACED 5 TIMES. ABS WHEEL SENSORS. CURRENTLY NO EMERGENCY BRAKE - NISSAN STATES NO ADJUSTMENTS TO FIX - ON OCCASSION FRONT BRAKES FAIL TO THE POINT THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. THIS HAPPENS WITH OUT WARNING. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE BRAKE PEDDLE GOES TO THE FLOOR AND YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL THE FRONT BRAKES VIBRATING. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE TRUCK, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND IT WILL THEN WORK FINE. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THIS OCCURS. BRAKE ISSUES HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED. *TR
I HAVE HAD AN ODD EXHAUST SOUND FROM MY NISSAN TITAN FOR OVER 18 MONTHS. WHEN I FINALLY TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND REPAIRS COST $1400.00. I WAS TOLD A THE DEALER AND AT SEVERAL MUFFLER SHOPS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT DUE THE CAST NATURE OF THE MANIFOLD AND THE EXCESSIVE WEIGHT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WELDED ONTO THE MANIFOLD. THE REPLACEMENT PART WERE A NEW DESIGN AND THE DEALER SAID THEY WILL NOT CRACK. SINCE MY TRUCK HAD 105,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE SERVICE WAS DONE THERE IS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE 2004 AND 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICKUPS AND THE COST OF REPAIRS SHOULD BE BORNE BY NISSAN AND NOT BY THE CONSUMER. I AM HOPING THAT THERE WILL BE A CLASS ACTION SUITE FILED ON THE CONSUMER'S BEHALF EITHER BY AN INDIVIDUAL, THE STATE OR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN LEAKS PROFUSELY ONTO BY EMERGENCY BRAKES. MY EMERGENCY BRAKES DO NOT WORK AT ALL ON A HILL. THE NISSAN MECHANIC HAS POINTED THIS OUT TO ME WHILE THE TRUCK WAS UP ON THE RACK. HE STATED THAT THE LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL WAS AND STILL LEAKING. I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE SEAL SPACER AND BEARING, FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $171.00 FOR PARTS, AND ALMOST $200.00 FOR LABOR. THIS HAS HAPPEN REPEATEDLY ON ALL NISSAN TITAN TRUCKS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THEIR EXPENSES ON SUCH A DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
RIGHT REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEAL FAILED - LEAKED OIL INTO RIGHT REAR BRAKE. *TR
BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS FAILED ALLOWING OIL TO LEAK ON BREAKS. I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE SEALS REPLACED. *TR
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN TITAN AND IN OCTOBER OF 2008 I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE SEALS AND BEARINGS AND THE FRONT PINION SEALS. THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND THE REAR END WAS FIXED ON APRIL 15, 2009 BUT NOT ABLE TO GET THE FRONT DONE YET. THIS PROBLEM COME ABOUT A YEAR AFTER OWNING IT AND ABOUT 12000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. I HAVE FILES A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. *TR
NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEALS LEAK. *TR
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING CAUSING READ AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL TO FAIL. AXLE LUBRICANT CONTAMINATING REAR BRAKES RESULTING IN LOSS OF STOPPING POWER. *TR
REAR END AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC BECAUSE THE ABS SENSOR WAS ON. HE ADVISED THAT THE REAREND OIL WAS LEAKING ONTO THE ROTOR CAUSING THE ABS SENSOR TO FAIL. *TR
DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE RIGHT REAR AXEL SEAL WAS LEAKING SO MUCH THAT IT HAD ACTUALLY MOISTENED THE BRAKE CALIPER AND ROTOR. THIS IS CAUSING MY TRUCK TO PULL TO THE LEFT DURING NORMAL BRAKING APPLICATIONS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT NOTICED LUBRICATION ON HIS DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE, REAR AXLE SEALS, AND BRAKE SHOES WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 71,000.
REAR SEALS ON MY TITAN LEAKED ALL OF THE FLUID OUT. I HAD FILLED MY TIRES WITH AIR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE AND NOTICED NOTHING. ALL OF THE GEAR OIL WAS GONE. *TR
2004 NISSAN 4X4 TITAN REAR DIFFERENTIAL. VEHICLE HAD 60,550 MILES ON IT AND WAS 500 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. NISSAN CHARGED ME $4000 TO FIX IT. *TR
ONLY 65,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND NO MODIFICATIONS. RIGHT REAR SEAL LEAKING, PINION SEAL IS SHOT AND FRONT LEFT AXLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. NOTHING COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM LOOKING AT A $3,000 REPAIR BILL ON A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK THAT HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND DOESN'T HAVE HIGH MILES. MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD ALSO CRACKED AT ABOUT 60000 MILES. THIS WAS ABLE TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
2004 NISSAN TITAN WAS BROUGHT IN FOR EXHAUST MAINTENANCE. UPON INSPECTION, MECHANICS NOTICED AXLE SEAL LEAKS ON BOTH REAR TIRES. NISSAN DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACED SEALS ALTHOUGH VEHICLE IS 7000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN WARRANTY WORK WAS INITIATED, DEALER THEN STATED THAT BOTH REAR AXLES WERE NOW DAMAGED DUE TO THE FAULTY AXLE SEALS. NISSAN OFFERED NO COVERAGE FOR THE AXLES, AND STATED THAT AXLE SEALS COULD STILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WOULD ONLY ACT AS A "BANDAID" FOR ABOUT 1000 MILES BEFORE LEAKING WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. AT THIS POINT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHENEVER THE CONTACT PLACED FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE, THE GASOLINE WOULD COME RIGHT BACK OUT OF THE TANK THROUGH THE FILLER TUBE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT A PRESSURE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24,800.
LEAKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEAL DRIVER SIDE. *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY - HEARD MODERATE BANG FROM BACK OF TRUCK AND THEN HOWLING BEGAN. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED AS REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE AND QUOTES $2000 TO REPLACE. SERVICE MANAGER SHOWED ME A PILE OF TITAN AXLES IN ONE SERVICE BAY AWAITING PICKUP BY NISSAN. HE WAS AMAZED THAT MINE LASTED AS LONG AS IT DID (104560 MILES). EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM INSIDE THE NISSAN WORLD, NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO MAKE ANY CONCESSIONS OR FIXING THIS AT A DISCOUNT. *TR
THE VEHICLE ( A 2004 NISSAN TITAN) HAS 30 THOUSAND PLUS MILES,CAREFULLY MAINTAINED (NO SALT) AND WAS PULLING A 7500 POUND BOAT ON PA I-79 WHEN IT LOST ALL POWER,INCLUDING ALL LIGHTS (INCLUDING REAR AND HAZARD) .THIS RESULTED IN A FIRE WHICH TOTALLY DISABLED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THE TAIL PIPE HAD FALLEN OFF AND BURNED DOZENS OF ELECTRICAL WIRES. THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES ON THE NET AND TO DEALERS. IT SHOULD STRONGLY BE NOTED THAT HAD THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED ON NY I-90 WHERE THERE IS NO SAFE PLACE TO PULL OFF OR AT NIGHT ANYWHERE, MANY LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST. THIS DEFECT MUST RECEIVE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT OR PAY FOR REPAIRS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. HE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TAIL PIPE CLAMP DETACHED AND BURNED THROUGH THE ELECTRICAL WIRES AND SHORTED OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 37,000. UPDATED 11/06/08 *BF UPDATED 11/07/08. *JB
IN JULY OF '08, MY WIFE CALLED TO TELL ME SHE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH OUR TRUCK. SHE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT, AS SHE REPORTED A BRAKE FAILURE THAT AND WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT TO A BUSY ROAD. AS SHE APPROACHED THE END OF THE PARKING LOT, SHE BRAKED TO WAIT FOR A CLEARING IN TRAFFIC. SHE SAID THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE TRUCK MADE A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE, AND THE TRUCK ROLLED OUT TO THE EDGE OF THE BUSY STREET UNTIL SHE PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOPPED THE TRUCK. SHE LEFT IT THERE AND WAITED FOR ME, AFRAID TO MOVE IT. I INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND FOUND NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. I FIGURED THAT THERE WAS A FAULT WITH THE ABS SYSTEM, WHICH WENT AWAY AFTER THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF AND THE SYSTEM WAS REBOOTED/SELF TESTED. ON AUGUST 22, 2008, THE FAULT RETURNED. MY WIFE BACKED THE TRUCK OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, AND THE TRUCK DISPLAYED THE SAME SYMPTOMS WHEN SHE TRIED TO STOP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVEWAY. SHE AVOIDED HITTING A PARKED VEHICLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. SHE LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING SO AS TO NOT RESET THE ABS COMPUTER, AND CALLED ME OUT TO CHECK THE TRUCK. I COULD FIND NO MECHANICAL FAULT, AND FOUND THE ABS FULLY ENGAGING WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKES, RESULTING IN VERY LITTLE STOPPING POWER. PUMPING THE BRAKES CAUSE NEAR FULL APPLICATION OF BRAKING FORCE, EVEN AT LIGHT PEDAL PRESSURE. I DETERMINED THAT IT WAS AN ABS ISSUE. BOTH TIMES THE FAULT OCCURRED, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TURNING OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTARTING RESOLVED THE PROBLEM, CONFIRMING MY SUSPICION OF A SOFTWARE FAULT. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND A NISSAN TSB THAT ADDRESSED THE ISSUE. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO DIRITO BROTHERS NISSAN IN CONCORD, CA TO HAVE THE TSB APPLIED, WHICH INVOLVED A ABS SOFTWARE UPDATE. I WAS SURPRISED AND UPSET TO LEARN THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AS THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS CONSIDERED AN "ADJUSTMENT." I WAS CHARGED $150 FOR THIS SERVICE. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED HE SAW A NUMBER OF TRUCKS WITH THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS; PROCEEDING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE "BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL FOLLOWED BY A LOUD A CLICKING NOISE. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE INTO A PARKING LOT; HOWEVER, THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE "ABS" AND THE COMPUTER CODE WAS RESET. THE DRIVER SIDE CALIPER ALSO LOCKED AND A TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE FRONT CALIPER, FRONT BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED THE FRONT ROTORS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,773.
1. 2004 NISSAN TITAN LE 4X4, "SLIP" LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINS ON. VEHICLE HAS 24,300 MILES AND HAD PRIOR WARRANTY REPAIR OF LEAKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER GASKET. 2. THE OBDII SHOWS NO CODES. THE :SLIP" LIGHT REMAINS ON WHICH DISABLES THE VEHICLE ANTI-SLIP, VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM. 3. INSPECTED UNDERCARRIAGE AND FOUND LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING COATING REAR BRAKES AND WHEEL ASSEMBLIES. RESEARCHING MANUFACTURER'S HISTORY AND SUGGESTION FOR PERMANENT REPAIRS. *TR
AS I WAS LEAVING MY HOME 8/05/2008 MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN PU CAME TO AN COMPLETE STOP BECAUSE THE REAR AXLE LOCKED UP. DEALERSHIP STATED THE REAR SEALS GAVE OUT BECAUSE OF CORROSION NEAR SEAL AREA. THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES CAME APART ON BOTH SIDES AND LODGED IN THE WHEELS CAUSING THEM TO LOCK UP. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. ATTEMPTING TO CROSS TRAFFIC WHEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL BROKE INTERNALLY AND HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED FROM SCENE (NEARLY HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC). THIS IS A KNOWN CONSUMER PROBLEM, THAT HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY DENIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF HAVING THESE UNITS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES!! THE POTENTIAL EXISTS TO HAVE THE REAR WHEELS TO BECOME LOCKED UP IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE!!!!!! WHY HAS NO INVESTIGATION BEEN OPENED?? SEVERAL CONSUMERS HAVE GONE TO AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE HIGH FAILURE RATE. THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING IN 2004-2006 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES!!!! *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE TACHOMETER HIT 3500 RPM AND THE ENGINE WENT FLAT. THERE WAS NO TYPE OF WARNING LIGHTS, IT WOULD REV UP TILL IT REACHED 3500 RPM AND THEN IT WOULD JUST CUT OUT LIKE IT HAD HIT THE REV LIMITER. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A LOW SPEED MISFIRE WAS THE ONLY CODE IN THE MEMORY AND THEY FELT THE PROBLEM WITH THE RPM WAS THE FUEL PUMP AS THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED TWO 04 TITAN FUEL PUMPS. I CALLED BACK SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE PUMP BUT THAT TWO OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE DAMAGED DUE TO THE MISFIRE. THEY HAD THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD UNHOOKED AND THE TRUCK RAN FINE. I HAD BOTH OF THE CONVERTERS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP WAS ONLY PUTTING OUT 34 PSI AT IDLE AND SHOULD BE 60. I CONTACTED NISSAN (FILE NUMBER 6258543) AND ABOUT THIS AND RECEIVED NO HELP OTHER THAN BEING TOLD TO "HAVE A NICE DAY!' I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND DOZEN OF INCIDENTS WHERE THIS HAS HAPPEN TO OTHER OWNERS AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO STEM FROM A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ON THE 2004 TITAN. IN SOME CASES THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED WHEN THE CATALYTIC EXPLODED UPON THE RAW FUEL FROM THE MISFIRE REACHING THE CONVERTER. IT EXPLODED SENDING PIECES OF THE CONVERTER INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDER. NISSAN HAS NO TYPE OF SCREEN OR MESH IN THE CONVERTER TO CONTAIN ANY PIECES IN CASE OF A FAILURE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PASSING THE SEMI WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE COMING HEAD ON, THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FATALITIES. ON 6/20/2008 I WENT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO RESOLVE A RECALL ITEM TO REPLACE REAR DOOR WIRING HARNESS, RECALL # R0616. THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED AND IN THE PROCESS THE DEALERSHIP ALSO REPLACED LH-PRETENSIONER, SEATBELT AND BODY HARNESS, AND RESET AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT. ON 6/03/2013, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I WENT TO A NEARBY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE LH-PRETENSIONER, SEATBELT AND BODY HARNESS, I INFORMED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THIS WORK WAS ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED ONCE AND THAT I HAD THE DOCUMENTS IF HE NEEDED THEM. THE SERVICE ADVISOR THEN STATED THAT SINCE THE WORK WAS ACCOMPLISHED FIVE YEARS AGO THAT EVEN THOUGH THE PARTS ARE A SAFETY ITEM THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, RESULTING IN A 574.30 CHARGE OF WHICH I PAID. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM, AND THUS SHOULD NOT HAVE A WARRANTY RESTRICTION, I AM NOT SURE IF THE TRUCK IS EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING - DIFF. FLUID WAS COLLECTING ON REAR BRAKE DISCS. NISSAN DEALER SHIP ORDERED PARTS (WARRANTY), DID NOT CLEAN OIL BUILDUP FROM BRAKE ROTORS. THEY SENT ME TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR 2+ WEEKS WHILE WAITING FOR PARTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT ONE OF THE SENSORS INSIDE THE AIR CONDITIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT SMELLED ANTI-FREEZE AND COOLANT FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A RADIATOR FLUSH AT THE COST OF $212, WHICH WAS AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO COOLANT OR ANTI-FREEZE IN THE VEHICLE. THE RADIATOR WAS BONE DRY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 50,000.
THE TAILPIPE FELL OFF OF MY TRUCK. RESULTING IN THE HOT EXHAUST TO BE VENTED ONTO A REAR WIRING HARNESS AND THUS MELTING IT. ALONG WITH THE MELTED WIRING HARNESSES, THE ECM AND MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR WERE SHORTED OUT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WILL BE OVER $2000 TO FIX AND WILL BE PAID FOR STRAIGHT OUT OF MY POCKET. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER EXHAUST BECAUSE IT SUPPOSEDLY IS A REGULARLY MAINTAINED PART. THIS TRUCK IS A 2WD MODEL WITH 305/50X20 WHEELS/TIRES , SO IT OBVIOUSLY IS NOT USED FOR OFF-ROAD PURPOSES NOR HAS IT BEEN USED TO TOW ANYTHING. WHEN THE TAILPIPE BROKE, THE TRUCK WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A SMOOTH BLACK TOP HIGHWAY AND NOTHING WAS RAN OVER IN THE ROAD SUCH AS AN ANIMAL OR DEBRIS THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TAILPIPE TO FALL OFF. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED BUT WITH ONLY 30K MILES ON IT AND ONLY DROVE IT 1500 MILES SINCE PURCHASING IT. *TR
