THE ABS LIGHT, VDC LIGHT, SLIP LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR ACCOMPANIED BY ABS ACTUATOR SOUNDS. THE BRAKING EFFORT DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY. RECYCLING THE IGNITION SWITCH RETURNED THE BRAKES TO A SATISFACTORY CONDITION. AFTER MY WIFE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, I SCANNED THE ABS FOR FAULT CODES: C1179. I AM AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTOMOBILE TECHNICIAN WITH 28 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. THIS DEVICE MEASURES THE TRAVEL OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IS A NECESSARY COMPONENT OF A VEHICLE WITH STABILITY CONTROL (NISSAN CALLS IT VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL [VDC]). THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS 4 TIMES IN THE TEN YEARS THAT I'VE OWNED IT. THE FREQUENCY OF FAILURE IS VERY RANDOM, DUPLICATION OF THE FAULT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND IT OCCURS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL.
I HAD THE DEALER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAD CRACKED. THEY SAID THERE WAS A PREVIOUS NOTICE FROM NISSAN AND THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE DEALER DID NOT CONTACT ME. NOW THEY SAID TOO MUCH TIME HAD ELAPSED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS FREE REPLACEMENT. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN DEFECT SINCE NISSAN HAD THEM REPLACED ON SOME VEHICLES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE CRACKED MANIFOLDS CAN CAUSE A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK OR SET A FIRE WHILE DRIVING FAST. THE COST TO REPAIR IS NEAR $1000 FOR THE PARTS PLUS LABOR TO INSTALL. THERE MUST BE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS SAFETY PROBLEM SO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FORCE NISSAN TO FIX ALL THE VEHICLES. MINE HAS ONLY 86000 EASY MILES ON IT. *TR
CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF THE HOOD AND TOP OF THE CAB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS AND THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V459000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,300.
I HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT WORK INTO TRAFFIC.I HEARD A LOUD POP AND MY REAR END STARTED HAVING LARGE BANGS AND I LOST ALMOST ALL POWER. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY MULTIPLE CARS. I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND CALL TO HAVE IT TOWED. THANKFULLY I HAD 400 MILES LEFT ON MY WARRANTY COVERED THE ENTIRE NEW REAR AXLE THAT WAS REQUIRED.. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE!!! MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS ALSO SLOWLY GOING OUT BUT ISN'T BAD ENOUGH FOR THE WARRANTY TO COVER IT. *TR
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AXLE IS POPPING OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ESPECIALLY AFTER IT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED ONCE. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE NISSAN TITAN FRONT FINAL DRIVE ASSEMBLY STARTING FROM 2004 AS THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ON MANY OF THE NISSAN TITAN FORUMS. I WILL BE BRINGING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVERS TO THE DEALER AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL ASSIST IN COST OF THIS MAJOR MALFUNCTION. AGAIN, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO THIS VEHICLE AS IT DOES NOT GET MUCH HEAVY USE. NO TOWING AND HARDLY EVER USES THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN FROM WORK WHEN COMING UP TO A STOP LEAVING THE LONG DRIVEWAY TO ENTER THE MAIN RD I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL DROPPED TO THE FLOOR AND BEGAN VIBRATING AND MAKING A GRINDING NOISE LIKE WHEN YOU STEP ON THE PEDAL VERY HARD AND THE ABS COMES ON, EXCEPT THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE. THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. I FLEW THROUGH THE STOP SIGN IN FRONT OF OTHER COWORKERS LEAVING A BUILDING TO THE NORTH. THE ROAD ONLY WENT LEFT AND RIGHT SO I COULD NOT MAKE THE TURN SO I HAD NO OPTIONS AND WENT ACROSS THE ROAD, HIT THE CURB, WENT INTO A FIELD WHERE A MESQUITE TREE STOPPED ME. I PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED IT THE BRAKES ARE BACK AND WORKING LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. I LEFT THE TRUCK THERE AND WENT HOME TO BEGIN MY NORMAL GOOGLE SEARCHES AND WHAT'S THE CAUSE AND HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM MYSELF. I'VE FOUND HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY ISSUE. THE MOST RECENT NOTES ARE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT NISSAN HAS AGREED TO PAY BECAUSE OF FAULTY PARTS THAT CAUSE THEIR VEHICLES NOT TO STOP. THEY WHERE QUOTED THAT THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL UNLESS ORDERED TO DO SO IN NUMEROUS NEWS ARTICLES. PLEASE PROCESS THIS RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS HURT OR KILLED. PLEASE HELP. *TR
THIS IS A FINANCE VEHICLE SAW THE 2004 NISSAN TITAN REALLY LIKE IT FOR THE WORK THAT I DO AND MY HUSBAND AGREED TO PARTIALLY FINANCED IT. THE FIRST DRIVING OFF THE CAR LOT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN WE GOT HOME I CALLED BACK THE DEALER TO LET HIM WHAT HAD HAPPENED, HE SAID TO BRING IT BACK THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, DURING THE SAME WEEK THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS FELL DOWN INTO THE SLOT COULDN'T COME BACK UP SO WE HAD DRIVE IN THE DEAD OF WINTER WITH THE WINDOWS DONE. FINALLY WE DROP THE PICKUP OFF AT THE DEALER, IT WAS THERE FOR 2 FULL WEEKS BEFORE WE GOT IT BACK, THINKING EVERYTHING WAS FIXED .A FEW DAYS AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WE CALLED THEM AGAIN THEY IN REPLIED TELLING US THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS A USED VEHICLE.OH MY GOD. NOW I HAVE PUT OVER A $1000 IN PARTS AND NOW THE MECHANICS ARE TELLING ME IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. PLEASE I NEED HELP BECAUSE I HAVE TO BE PAYING THE FINANCE COMPANY FOR SOMETHING I CANT USE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD PREMATURELY CRACKED AND FRACTURED ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

WHILE DRIVING, RED "BRAKE" DASH WARNING LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON. TRUCK'S BRAKES THEN HAD LIMITED BRAKING ABILITY & WERE HARD TO USE. THEY PUSHED A WAYS DOWN, HAD CRUMMY STOPPING POWER, MADE GRINDING NOISES, AND A VIBRATION WHEN TRYING TO USE THEM. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY STOP. I SHUT OFF TRUCK AND RESTARTED IT. THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND BRAKES ACT NORMALLY. AFTER BRAKING AGAIN A SHORT TIME LATER, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I ONCE AGAIN WAS ABLE TO RESET THE LIGHT BY SHUTTING OFF THE TRUCK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS IT JUST SUDDENLY HAPPENS AND YOUR BRAKING ABILITY GOES TO "POOP" WHEN DRIVING. AFTER THIS HAPPENED TO ME, I SEE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON-LINE IN VARIOUS FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY NISSAN OR A GOVERNMENT RECALL. THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY FIXED THE BRAKE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. HOWEVER, A WEEK LATER, THE CONSUMERS NEPHEW WAS DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN, AND HE DROVE INTO A DITCH. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY CLAIMED THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW PUMP/DELTA STOKE SENSOR. UPDATED 02/23/15
THE VEHICLE SHOWED 1/4 TANK OF GAS, WAS RUNNING FINE AND SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE A YOUNG GIRL 18 YEARS OLD WAS DRIVING HOME FROM DROPPING OFF SIBLINGS AT SCHOOL. AT 55 MPH THERE WAS NO POWER BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD HEAVILY TRAVELED BY 80 TON GRAVEL TRUCKS. NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND HAS HAD A NUMBER OF TITANS EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE CAUSED BY A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THEY DID A TSB ON ALL BUT 2004S EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE SAME PART. NISSAN REQUIRED ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR NISSAN DIAGNOSTIC ($93) EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP ALREADY TOLD ME THIS WAS AN ISSUE AND NISSAN WOULD PROBABLY COVER IT. THE NISSAN REGIONAL REP ([XXX]) REIMBURSED THE REPAIR BUT REFUSED THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE SHE REQUIRED ME TO GET. NISSAN DENIES RESPONSIBILITY FOR RECALLING THESE VEHICLES WHICH THEY KNOW CAN JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!! FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. MANY REPORTS ONLINE SUGGEST A COMMON FAILURE. COST OVER $2100 TO FIX. PARTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED SO MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL ONLY GUARANTEE A FULL DIFFERENTIAL REPLACEMENT. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO STOP WHILE TRAVELING DOWN PARKING GARAGE RAMP. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE AUDIBLE SOUND OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) PUMP CYCLING. AT THIS POINT THERE WAS NO BRAKING POWER. PEDAL WAS LIFTED AND BRAKES WHERE APPLIED AGAIN. AGAIN, THE PEDAL DROPPED TO THE FLOOR AND THE AUDIBLE ABS PUMP COULD BE HEARD. AT THIS POINT DRIVER HAD TO DECIDE TO CRASH THE CAR INTO A CONCRETE COLUMN TO PREVENT LARGER ACCIDENT INTO PAYMENT BOOTH. DRIVER CONTINUED INTO A CONCRETE COLUMN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 - 20 MPH AND CRASHED. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM SCENE. AFTER ACCIDENT, MECHANIC REPAIRING VEHICLE INFORMED THE DRIVER OF TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 452131 PERTAINING TO THIS SAME ISSUE, "ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CODE C1179. INTERMITTENT BRAKE PEDAL SUPPOSEDLY GOES TO THE FLOOR. TECH HAS NOT EXPERIENCED". *TR
NHTSA RECALL 10V074000. (NISSAN). THE RECALL SHOULD APPLY TO 2004 MODEL TITANS. CURIOUSLY IT APPLIES TO THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL FOR YEARS 2005-2009. IN MY CASE THE FUEL GAUGE NEVER WORKED WELL (PURCHASED NEW) BUT AT LEAST THE LOW FUEL WARNING GAUGE LIGHT CAME ON. ON OCTOBER 21, 2014 THE GAUGE COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONED. IT STUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF A TANK AND THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS (NO LIGHT INDICATOR) WITHOUT WARNING. AT 70 MPH ON A TOLLWAY, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. GIVEN THE SIGNIFICANT RISK TO DRIVER HEALTH AND SAFETY POSED BY THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION (WHICH WAS CURIOUSLY ADDRESSED FOR 2005 AND THEREAFTER) AND THE EXTREME RISK OF CRASH THAT IT CAUSES, THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED AND NOT EXCLUDE THE FIRST MODEL YEAR OF THIS CAR. WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROL AT 70MPH, I WAS LUCKY ON THIS OCCASION. OTHERS MAY WELL NOT BE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE REAR END SEIZED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE HALT BEFORE STALLING. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS TWO CRACKED MANIFOLDS. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
BRAKE PEDAL BECAME MUSHY. BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON. COASTED TO A STOP, TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED. LIGHTS WENT OFF AND BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY AGAIN. THIS IS APPROXIMATELY THE SIXTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS TRUCK. BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE NEW. IT FIRST BEGAN HAPPENING APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE, WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN AWARE OF SINCE 2004. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR ILLUMINATED AND UPON PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IT SANK TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHICH RESET THE COMPUTER AND THE SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS MAKING THE LOUD NOISE BUT IT WAS UNCLEAR IF IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE MOMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V072000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN HAS HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES MAKE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD TO GO ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. ONCE I GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED I CAN TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND THE BRAKES RESET AND WORK CORRECTLY. HOWEVER, THESE INCIDENTS ARE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY NOW AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE RESET. THIS IS A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY FLAW AND I HAVE READ MANY OTHER TITAN OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THESE TRUCKS AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE THERE IS A SERIOUS INJURY OR A FATALITY. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AT PROPER INTERVALS. *TR
THIS WILL BE THE 3RD REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON THIS TRUCK. THE FIRST BLEW ON WARRANTY AT APPROX 10K MILES. NOW WITH 56K MILES THE 2ND DANA REAR AXLE HAS BLOWN. I DON'T OFF ROAD AND TOW ONLY A MOTORCYCLE TRAILER. THIS IS OBSCENE, TIME CONSUMING AND VERY COSTLY ($3,630.00) TO FIX AND DAYS WAITING AWAY FROM HOME. THIS ISN'T RIGHT. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN WITH 81K MILE HAS 2 CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES HAVE CRACK JUST IN FRONT OF LAST CYCLE ON BOTH SIDES. MY TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE ONE NIGHT. THE NEXT MORNING MY TRUCK WAS SOUNDING LIKE IT HAD AN EXHAUST LEAK. SEND MY TRUCK IN TO HAVE RECALLS ADDRESS AND IT WAS CONFIRMED BY NISSAN MECHANICS THAT BOTH SIDES ARE CRACKED. WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ABOUT $3000 TO REPLACE BOTH SIDES. MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO BACKUP THE TRUCK THE COLUMN GEAR SHIFTER MOVED INTO REVERSE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL MOVING FORWARD. FORTUNATELY I DIDN'T RUN OVER ANYONE BUT IT COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED IN A BUSY PARKING LOT. THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS MOVING UP AND DOWN INTO EVERY POSITION BUT IT WAS CONTINUOUSLY ENGAGED IN DRIVE. I DROVE HOME AND PARKED. THE SHIFTER IS STILL MOVING UP AND DOWN; THE GEAR INDICATOR SHOWS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS IN "D" - DRIVE BUT THE VEHICLE IS ROLLING AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND CAN'T BE STARTED. THERE IS A NISSAN RECALL NO. RU403 BUT NISSAN SAYS MY TRUCK IS NOT AFFECTED. *TR
MY REAR AXLE SEALS FAILED, BEGAN LEAKING. IT HAPPENS TO EVERY SINGLE TITAN, IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. JUST SEARCH ONLINE, NEARLY EVERY OWNER HAS THIS ISSUE. NISSAN NEEDS TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT AND HELP PEOPLE THAT HAVE THEIR GREAT TRUCKS. *TR

I TOOK TO DEALER, I WAS TOLD DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS MY COROLLA IS 21 YEARS OLD AND HAS 191000 MILES, HAVE NEVER HAD ANY AIR BAG ISSUE. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. AND WAS RECEIVE "NISSAN CAREFULLY CONSIDERED YOUR REQUEST DURING A REVIEW OF ALL OF THE AVAILABLE FACTS PERTAINING TO YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION. SUDDEN BRAKE LOSS WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30MPH. IT HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AND SEEMS TO HAVE INCREASED AFTER A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. I'D GUESS 10 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK NOW, I'VE KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE FOR SOME TIME AND WAS READING ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHICH I BELIEVE ONLY COVERED THE RESIDENTS OF CALIFORNIA AND THE COMMENTS SUGGESTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT HERE. IT'S THE SAME THING, THE EMERGENCY LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN APPLY BRAKES THERE IS NO PRESSURE AND AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE. ONCE YOU COME TO A SAFE STOP, TURN OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE PROBLEM IS GONE! PREVIOUSLY, IT HAD BEEN WEEKS AND EVEN MAYBE MONTHS IN BETWEEN BUT NOW IT SEEMS TO HAVE TURNED IN A DAILY TASK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MOVED 900 YARDS. ALSO, THE BRAKE LIGHT WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VCU CHIP AND THE VACUUM CANISTER MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A BRAKE / ABS PROBLEM WITH MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AS I WAS DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE BRAKES UNDER NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS, I HAVE ALMOST NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK IN TIME. IT FELT AS THOUGH THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING AND BRAKE PEDAL IS FLUCTUATING, VIBRATING AND GRINDING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/17/14 THEY SAID IT WAS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE. I PAID ABOUT $100 FOR THEM TO UPLOAD A NEW PROGRAM. THEY TOLD ME THE NEW PROGRAM DIDN'T TAKE AND THEN TOLD ME THE DELTA SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS MOST LIKELY THE ISSUE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE ENTIRE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY MUST BE PURCHASED SINCE THEY DON'T SELL THE DELTA SENSOR SEPARATELY, AND THE COST IS $950 TO REPLACE. I CALLED AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS THE NEXT DAY 7/18/14. TODAY 7/24/14, I FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS LETTING ME KNOW THAT THEY WERE UNWILLING TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT' OUT OF WARRANTY, NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WILL NOT PURSUE ANY FURTHER ACTION IN REGARDS TO MY CASE & CONSIDERED THE MATTER CLOSED. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

MY REAR END ON MY TITAN BEGAN GRINDING WHEN TURNING. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A DEFECT ON THE FIRST MODELS OF THE TITAN AND NISSAN WILL NOT REPORT A RECALL ON THEM. IF THESE REAR ENDS LOCK UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHILE TOWING A TRAILER, PEOPLE'S LIVES COULD BE LOST. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS AFFECTED SUCH A VAST POPULATION OF TITAN OWNERS. FURTHERMORE, NISSAN ONLY OFFERS A FULL REAR END REPLACEMENT AT THE LOW PRICE OF $2,500. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS! DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ROAD WHEN I FELT AN ODD VIBRATION COMING FROM UNDER MY FEET. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY TO SEE THAT MY AXLE SHAFT HAS PULLED OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE HOME I RESEARCHED ONLINE TO FIND HUNDREDS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL ON THESE TRUCKS IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE A SAFETY ISSUE UNTIL THEY DECIDE TO RECALL THE PROBLEM. NISSAN DEFINITELY KNOWS THIS DIFFERENTIAL IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE ENGINE. HE NOTICED THAT THE SEAMS NEAR THE ROTORS AND THE PLATES WERE LEAKING GEAR OIL, WHICH CAUSED HIM TO CONSTANTLY ADD A QUART OF GEAR OIL EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL PLATES AND SEALS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO PREMATURE DETERIORATION AND AN INTERNAL FRACTURING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
BRAKES MADE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLIED AND DIDN'T SLOW VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED. TURNED OFF VEHICLE. RESTARTED AND BRAKES WORKED FINE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BEFORE DEALER SAID IT WAS A C1179 DELTA BOOST SENSOR FAULT AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HAPPENED AGAIN TWO YEARS LATER SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME DEALER SAID THE REAR AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING AND LEAKING ON BRAKES ALSO FOUND THAT THE ECM ON THE BOOSTER THAT WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO WAS NEVER UPDATED. REPROGRAMMED. PROBLEM REOCCURRED A WEEK LATER. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, SIDE STREETS, GOING STRAIGHT, TURNING, DRIVING AT 60, DRIVING AT 10. NO RHYME OR REASON.

DRIVING THE TRUCK ON SNOW COVERED ROAD, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM FAILED TO WORK. ONLY REAR TIRES WERE DRIVING, CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITION ON A ROAD THAT REQUIRED FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. INVESTIGATION FOUND THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED, WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES OF THIS VINTAGE. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, CITING 'OUT OF WARRANTY'.

AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I SEE IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND CAN LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE ( IF RETAINING CLIP IS EJECTED AND GETS BETWEEN GEARS) CAUSING THE FRONT END TO TEMPORARILY LOCK UP. AGAIN LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOW. BUT THIS IS TO COMMON AN ISSUE AND SOMETHING THAT CAN CAUSE A LAPSE IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
