TRANSMISSION FLUID DILUTED WITH ANTI -FREEZE FROM FAULTY RADIATOR /TRANNY COOLER NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IT IS A STALL ISSUE , A SAFETY ISSUE , ITS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ,AND NOT UNCOMMON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY IN REVERSE AND INTO THE STREET. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN SHIFTED INTO 4X4 MODE IN ORDER FOR THE CONTACT TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 83,200.
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAK AND COULD POTENTIALLY SOAK REAR DISC BRAKE PADS TO THE POINT OF COMPLETE FAILURE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED TO VIBRATE AND FAILED TO ENGAGE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,611.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND BEGAN TO SMELL EXHAUST FUMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE MANIFOLD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
HAD REAR FIXED AT DEALER AND IT BROKE AGAIN. NOW THE TRUCK HAS SAT SINCE THE DATE OF FAILURE, MEANWHILE IM PAYING ON IT STILL. CALLED NISSAN CORP. THEY SAID (THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS BUT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO FIX IT). NOT A VERY RESPECTABLE CORP.. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS HEAVY EXHAUST FUMES COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ENTERING THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. UPDATED 5/4/15*CN
SLOWING FOR A STOP, BRAKE PEDAL MUSHED AND A GRINDING ABS SHUDDER PRESENTED. AS SPEED WAS LOW, I WAS ABLE TO MANAGE A STOP OF THE VEHICLE. RETURNED HOME SLOWLY AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. TWO DAYS AGO THE SLACK PEDAL AND GRINDING NOISE OCCURRED AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHO REPLIED "NO AWARENESS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. BRING IN WHEN EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS." RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. REQUESTED A SERVICE TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR/BOOSTER COMPONENTS. CANNOT IMAGINE DRIVING THIS BIG TRUCK HOPING TO LOSE BRAKING AT A TIME WHEN, WITH NO RISK TO MYSELF OR OTHERS, THE DEALERSHIP CAN SEE/HEAR THE PROBLEM. SHOCKINGLY UNETHICAL! MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT THE NEW COMPONENTS MAY BE JUST AS FAULTY. PLEASE ADD MY VOICE TO THOSE CALLING FOR NISSAN AND/OR THE NTSB TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE ... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS SEVERELY CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN OVER SEVERAL MONTHS THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DRIVE AXLE FOR MY 4X4 HAS PULLED ITS SELF OUT. IT WAS FIXED ONCE ON MY DIME AND IS NOW GOING TO BE FIXED ON MY DIME AGAIN IT IS A DANGEROUS FAILURE THAT COULD CAUSE MY SUSPENSION TO LOCK UP AN RIP MY WHEEL OFF THEN LEADING TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND THE NHTSA HAS DONE NOTHING TO PURSUE THIS. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT NISSAN WILL NOT COVER IS THE REAR AXLE SEALS THAT BLOW OUT DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN WHICH MAY ALSO LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS ANY OF THESE ISSUES UNDER A RECALL AN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SUFFERING FROM THESE ISSUES FROM 04-010 FOR THE AXLE SEALS AND MODEL YEARS 04-08 FOR THE AXLE SHAFT PULLING OUT FROM THE 4X4 CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PARTS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AN THE NHTSA IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
WHILE TAKING A EXIT RAMP AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED DUE TO STOPPING TRAFFIC PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH A GRINDING SOUND. I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND WENT PAST 2 CARS BEFORE STOPPING IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE LIGHT WAS GONE. REPORTED THIS TO THE NISSAN DEALER ....THEY STATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE.....THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET AND ALSO FILED WITH NHTSA. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY WILL DO NOTHING UNTIL A RECALL. I CERTAINLY HOPE NO ONE DIES FROM THIS AS THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WILL FOLLOW WILL BE VERY EMBARRASSING TO NHTSA, DOT, AND NISSAN AS YOU HAVE ALL BEEN MADE VERY AWARE OF THIS.... *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
IMAGINE DRIVING DOWN A MOUNTAINOUS ROAD IN IDAHO STATE. YOU ARE GOING DOWN A HILL IN A PICK-UP TRUCK PULLING A CAMPER. ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE - IT WON'T REV OVER 1000 RPM. YOU LOOK TO PULL OVER BUT THERE IS ONLY A SMALL SHOULDER. VEHICLES ARE SKIDDING TRYING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AS YOUR VEHICLE IS DISABLED AND ONLY PARTIALLY OFF THE ROAD. AFTER FIXING THE PROBLEM, I REALIZED THE TRUCK SHOULD NEVER HAVE GONE INTO LIMP MODE. IT IS A CRITICAL DESIGN FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE. I WAS PUT IN HARMS WAY FOR NO REASON. ALL VEHICLES USE TO HAVE THE ENGINE SPEED CONTROLLED VIA MECHANICAL LINKAGE OR CABLES FOR THE GAS PEDAL. VERY FEW FAILURES EXISTED WITH THIS DESIGN. TODAY GAS PEDAL RUN BY A WIRE THAT SENDS AN ELECTRONIC SIGNAL TO THE VEHICLES COMPUTER. THE COMPUTER IN TURN EVALUATES THE GAS PEDAL POSITION WHICH THEN SENDS A SIGNAL TO THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THROTTLE BODY TO CONTROL THE ENGINE. THE CRITICAL DESIGN FLAW COMES INTO PLAY WHEN VEHICLE DESIGNERS COMBINE OTHER ELECTRONIC SENSORS ON THE SAME CIRCUIT AS THE GAS PEDAL. NON-CRITICAL COMPONENTS LIKE GAS EVAPORATOR SENSORS, POWER STEERING SENSORS, AIR CONDITIONER SENSORS. WHEN ANY OF THESE NON-CRITICAL ITEMS EXPERIENCE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT, THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE POTENTIALLY PUTTING DRIVERS IN HARM'S WAY DOES THIS RECOMMENDED SOLUTION FIX ALL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE GAS PEDAL? NO IT DOES NOT. IT IS A LOT SAFER. I BELIEVE NHTSA SHOULD EVALUATE & ASSESS THIS CRITICAL DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE BEEN A CONTROLS ENGINEER FOR 28 YRS AND THIS DESIGN IS NOT SAFE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL THIS WEEK: RECALL 06V-459 ABOUT THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHING, SEAT BELTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, ETC. MY VEHICLE IS HAVING ALL OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED SO AS INSTRUCTED I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH THE LETTER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT "WAS NOT IN THEIR SYSTEM". STATING THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I GOT A NOTICE IN THE MAIL. CLEARLY MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THESE EXACT PROBLEMS AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO FIX THEM, BUT THEY STILL REFUSED TO FIX OR DIAGNOSE FOR FREE AS REQUIRED BY LAW. 2004 NISSAN TITAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY WIRE HARNESS RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED AND WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE FAILED A STATE INSPECTION, BECAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE THE FIX DID NOT ELIMINATE THE POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS CONDITION OF THE FAULTY WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER, HE BELIEVED HE WAS ENTITLED TO REFUND OF $ 185.60 WHEN HE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, THAT SHOULD HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN MADE UNDER THE RECALL.

CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE LEAF SPRING ON DRIVER SIDE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS AND IF NOT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY, FLUID LEAKS ONTO BRAKE ROTOR. HAS THE POTENTIAL OF LOSING ALL DIFFERENTIAL FLUID FROM REAR END CAUSING A COMPLETE DRIVETRAIN FAILURE. *TR
DURING ROUTINE RECALL FOR ECM MODULE THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED AS THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE CAUSING EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE CABIN AND ALSO CAUSE POOR PERFORMANCE WITH THE VEHICLE. DEALER QUOTED THIS AS A $3200.00 REPAIR AND WILL NOT ASSUME ANY PORTION OF THE REPAIR. DEALER "BEAVERTON NISSAN" HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS ISSUE IS DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ANY POSSIBLE FAULTY WELDS ON THE PRODUCT COMBINED WITH MATERIAL THAT IS TOO THIN TO START WITH. THE PRESENCE OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN WHILE IDLING AND/OR DRIVING IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS TO PARK THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
JUST LAST FRIDAY (03-15-2013) AFTERNOON,WHILE LOOKING OVER THE TRUCK- I DECIDED TO LOOK UNDERNEATH IT TO GIVE IT A ONCE OVER. EARLIER IN THE WEEK I HAD NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL KIND OF SPONGY(ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNING). I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. TO MY SURPRISE I FOUND THAT BOTH REAR AXLES WERE SPLATTERED WITH FLUID(AXLE GREASE).I HAD READ THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH EARLY MODEL TITANS. I WENT INTO A TITAN FORUM AND FOUND THERE WERE A LOT OF FOLKS,THAT OWNED THESE TRUCKS-HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IN THE FORUM THERE WAS THIS VERY SITE TO REPORT THIS ISSUE.SO THUS THIS WRITING. *TR
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN WHINING SINCE 63,000 MILES AND LAST WEEKEND THE WHINING BECAME HOWLING AND THEN CLUNKING. MY MECHANIC SAYS SOMETHING INSIDE THE DIFFERENTIAL IS BROKEN.
DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH, I HEARD A LOUD POP COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK. NOW WHENEVER I DECELERATE, A WHINING NOISE IS HEARD FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN IRVINE, CA AND THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AT A COST OF $2500.00. *TR
I WAS USING MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WHEN I NOTICED A LOUD CLUNK AND FOUND THAT MY AXLE HAD POPPED OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. I AM AMONG OVER 1000S OF TITAN OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT AND HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE FAILURES IN OUR TRUCKS. IT ALSO CAUSED A FAILURE IN MINE. THE HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS NOW AND CHANGED THERE PART IN 07 FROM THE ORIGINAL NUMBER 38500-8S102 TO THE NEW PRODUCT NUMBER 38500-8S11B TRUCK IS A NISSAN TITAN 2004 SE KING CAB 4WD. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD START TO MAKE LOUD NOISE WHEN BRAKING, AND THEN BRAKES WOULD STOP WORKING ALTOGETHER. THE FIRST FEW INCIDENTS IN THE PAST YEAR BECAUSE WE WERE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED WE COULD COAST TO A STOP. TURN OFF ENGINE, AND THEN TURN BACK ON. PROBLEM WENT AWAY UNTIL NEXT INCIDENT. WE JUST COMPLETED A FACTORY REPAIR COSTING JUST UNDER $1400 AND IT WAS TO REPLACE A MECHANISM THAT WAS FAILING TO DELIVER THE SIGNAL, OR FLUID (I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS VERY WELL ENOUGH TECHNICALLY) TO MAKE THE BRAKES STOP. THE PARTS WERE OVER $600 AND LABOR ALSO OVER $600. WHILE VEHICLE IS 10 YEARS OLD THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT ISSUE AND NOT WEAR AND TEAR. I'VE READ THAT THIS IS A REPORTED ISSUE WITH NHTSB SO I WANTED TO FILE ALSO. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A HAIRLINE FRACTURE LEADING FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO THE MANIFOLD THAT WAS CAUSING THE SMELL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 95,391.
I WAS DRIVING WEST BOUND 55 MPH WITH RIGHT OF WAY. OTHER DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME HEADING NORTH. I HIT HIS PASSENGER SIDE. TOTALED MY TITAN. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I SUSTAINED UPPER BODY INJURIES DUE TO NO AIRBAG SUPPORT. *TR

THE CONTACT WOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WOULD RESUME NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

IN 2006, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V345000 (SEAT BELTS) EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NOT A DEFECT. IN 2013, THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I ENGAGED MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL (4X4) AND PROCEEDED TO PUT DRIVETRAIN IN REVERSE AND WHILE BACKING UP THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AXLE POPPED OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL, I WAS NOT PULLING ANYTHING SO I WAS NOT UNDER ANY LOAD WHATSOEVER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE SLIP, VDC AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK EVENTUALLY DID STOP BUT I CAME CLOSE TO HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE READ AND RESEARCHED THOROUGHLY ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN CALIFORNIA REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR WHERE I HAVE ALMOST COMPLETELY LOST MY BRAKES. NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE A DELTA STROKE SENSOR THAT IS HOUSED WITHIN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. TRANSMISSION COOLER HOSE LEAK CAUSED TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS, BUT I NEVER SAW IT OR WAS MADE AWARE OF IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AND I GOOGLED IT. THE SPRING CLAMP FAIL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS REPLACING THE 2 SPRING CLAMPS WITH SCREW CLAMPS WOULD SAVE A RUINED TRANSMISSION. SEAMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE FATALITY IF FAILURE HAPPENS ON INTERSTATE. *TR
TRUCK STARTED MAKING LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN LETTING OFF ACCELERATOR AND COASTING. I WAS ADVISED BY MY MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR END WITH A BRAND NEW ONE FROM NISSAN BECAUSE THEY HAD MODIFIED IT. OBVIOUSLY THEY NEW IT WAS A PROBLEM. $2500.00 REPAIR. GLAD THE DRIVE SHAFT DID NOT LOCK UP ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WERE METAL FLAKES IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL COMPARTMENT CAUSING THE NOISE. THE MECHANIC STATED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT AN INTERSECTION THE BRAKES FAILED. THE "BRAKE" LIGHT CAME ON, IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND I HAD NO BRAKES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC AND AFTER CHECKING THE COMPUTER FOR EMBEDDED CODES HE FOUND TWO CODE FAILURES (C1104 & C1179). I HAVE GOOGLED THESE PROBLEMS AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY OTHER NISSAN ARMADA AND TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE LOCAL MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE INSPECTION THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS LEAKING DUE TO A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED THAT THE EXHAUST WAS LOUDER THAN NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD, WHICH HE WAS CONCERNED WOULD LEAK HARMFUL FUMES INTO THE INTERIOR CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THEN, WHEN SLOWING TO TURN, BRAKES SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND DID NOT FEEL AS IF THEY WOULD SUCCEED IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I SLOWED ENOUGH TO TURN, THEN PROCEEDED SLOWLY TO MAKE 2 MORE IMMEDIATE TURNS BEFORE REACHING MY HOUSE. THE BRAKES SHUDDERED AND WERE NOT 100% EFFECTIVE EACH TIME THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. FLUID LEVELS ARE NORMAL, BRAKE COMPONENTS LOOK GOOD. AFTER TURNING TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON, PROBLEM WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPLICATED. HOWEVER, AFTER DOING ONLINE RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS AS YET REFUSED TO ADDRESS, EVEN THOUGH IT COULD LEAD TO COLLISIONS AND FATALITIES. *TR
THE REAR AXLE OIL SEAL LEAKS ONTO THE REAR BRAKES CAUSING THEM TO NOT WORK. *TR
WHILE REPLACING LIFETIME WARRANTIED SUSPENSION WHICH WAS NOT HONORED BY NISSAN OR TENNECO, I FOUND THE REAR PINION SEAL TO BE LEAKING SEVERELY, AND REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING IN WHEEL ASSEMBLY. POSSIBLE SOURCE OF "TICKING" NOISE FROM DIFFERENTIAL, WHICH UNTIL THEN I THOUGHT WERE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE CATASTROPHIC DRIVETRAIN FAILURE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE FLUID LEAKING FROM AXLE SEAL CAN REDUCE EFFECTIVENESS OF BRAKING COMPONENTS. OTHER OWNERS HAVE DESCRIBED INADEQUATE ENGINEERING & POSSIBLE USE OF SUBSTANDARD DIFFERENTIAL MATERIALS & COMPONENTS ALONG WITH AXLE VENT ASSEMBLIES WHICH COULD CREATE INTERNAL PRESSURE CONDITIONS THAT COULD CAUSE SEALS TO FAIL. *TR

I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER AT WALLACE NISSAN, KINGSPORT, TN, TO FIND OUT IF THEY WOULD REPAIR THE BROKEN WIRE IN THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE REAR DOOR, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AND BY NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT REPAIR THE BROKEN WIRE, EVEN THOUGH THE NHTSA HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, NISSAN TOLD ME THAT THE CAMPAIGN HAD ENDED AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AS I RECALL IN THE NHTSA RECALL THE WIRING AFFECTS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAS BEEN FLASHING CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE BUT THEY HAVE QUIT ANSWERING MY EMAILS TO THEM, ALL I AM ASKING IS FOR NISSAN TO REPAIR THE WIRING HARNESS AND BROKEN WIRES ON MY UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR RECALL # 06V459000.
