MANUAL SHIFT BUTTON DOES NOT WORK ON NISSAN TITAN. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE AT 68,000 MILES WITH NORMAL DRIVING AND OCCASIONAL LIGHT TOWING (3500 LBS TRAVEL TRAILER). I DETECTED A WORSENING WHIRRING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. DEALER RECOMMENDS COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND FURTHER STATES THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE IN IT'S PRESENT CONDITION. *TR
REAR END FAILURE IN 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. A POPPING SOUND STARTED COMING OUT OF THE REAR END OF MY TRUCK. UPON LOOKING FOR PROBLEM NOTICED REAR SEAL ON DRIVER SIDE HAD FAILED. TOOK THE TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED I NEEDED A NEW REAR END WHICH COST $3400 BEING IT HAD 66,000 MILES ON IT. WAITING ON NISSAN FOR AN ANSWER ON A COMPLAINT I MADE. *TR

LEFT & RIGHT REAR SEALS LEAKING ON MY KING CAB 05 NISSAN TITAN. I HAD THE 60,000 MILE SERVICE DONE IN EARLY JULY 2009, AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE ON MY TRUCK AT THAT TIME WAS AROUND 66,000 MILES. UPON COMPLETING THE JOB, THE NEXT DAY, MOST OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT OF MY TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP CAME TO MY HOUSE AND REPAIRED THE LEAK AND TOPPED OFF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A FAILED HOSE CLAMP. THEY TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK IT OVER TO CONFIRM THAT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS OK. THEY ALSO CHECK ON A FAN RECALL THAT WAS PENDING. THEY TOLD ME THAT NO REPAIRS WERE NECESSARY. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID APPEARED TO BE LEAKING AGAIN FROM THE FRONT END. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN EARLIER THIS WEEK AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A LEAKING TRANSMISSION HOSE AT NO CHARGE. THEY INFORMED ME AT THIS TIME THAT MY LEFT AND RIGHT REAR SEALS WERE LEAKING VERY BAD. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT I HAVE A POWER STEERING LEAK. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THESE ISSUES WERE NOT ADDRESSED IN JULY WHEN THE 60,000 MILE SERVICE WAS DONE UNLESS IT JUST RECENTLY STARTED. THEY TOLD ME HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO DO THE REPAIRS AND ADVISED THAT I TAKE CARE OF IT ASAP! *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING AND WETTING OF DISC BRAKE COMPONENT AT 58,000 MILES. *TR
DURING VISIT FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, A SERVICE CENTER POINTED OUT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAL AXLE SHAFT SEAL WAS LEAKING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD 68,000 MILES ON IT, THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE BACK-SIDE OF THE ROTOR WAS SATURATED WITH DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. ADDITIONALLY, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES WERE COMPLETELY SATURATED WITH DIFFERENTIAL FLUID, REDUCING THE ABILITY OF THE PARKING BRAKE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR WHICH INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF THE AXLE SHAFT SEAL, AXLE SHAFT BEARING, AXLE SHAFT BEARING SPACER, AND PARKING BRAKE SHOE & LINING. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT THE REAR PINION SEAL FAILED AT 16,700 MILES AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS LEAKING AND BOTH SEALS WERE BROKEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD BEEN REPAIRED BEFORE UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S VOLUNTARY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
PARKING BRAKE FAILED TO WORK DUE TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEAKING ONTO BRAKE COMPONENTS FROM LEAKING REAR AXLE SEALS. REAR AXLE SEALS WERE REPLACED; OLD SEALS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS RANGING 50 TO 55 MPH, A CRASH OCCURRED WITH A VEHICLE THAT PROCEEDED THROUGH A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE SYSTEM.
THE FRONT AND REAR WHEEL SEALS AND SPACERS ARE FAULTY AND CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK OUT ONTO THE BRAKES AND BRAKE PADS. WHICH COULD CAUSE FIRE, BRAKING PROBLEMS AND IF UNFIXED COULD CAUSE THE FRONT/REAR END TO GO OUT ON THE TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BECOME VERY LOUD. THERE WAS ALSO A FUEL ODOR INSIDE WHICH ALERTED HER TO A POTENTIAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A LATER DATE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT SAW A CRACK IN THE MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING ON THE REAR BRAKES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A POPPING SOUND WHEN THE ENGINE WAS ON. THE EXHAUST WAS ALSO LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND 200,000.
REAR WENT OUT OF 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WAS PRECEDED BY CLUNKING, VIBRATION. RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL WAS REPLACED BY DEALER PRIOR AND UNDER WARRANTY FOR LEAKING AT APPROX. 48K MILES. NISSAN WILL NOT REPLACE THE REAR SINCE IT IS OVER ON THE MILEAGE BY 12K MILES EVEN THOUGH IT HAD TO HAVE WORK DONE TO IT WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NOTHING HAS BEEN TO IT, IT SITS. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB, WHICH I PURCHASED IT IN NOVEMBER OF 2005. AFTER, APPROXIMATELY 30DAYS OF OWNERSHIP AND 500 MILES OF TRAVEL; THE FRONT BRAKES BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE COMPLICATIONS (THEY WOULD SHUDDER WHILE BRAKING AND CREATE AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST.) I QUICKLY RETURN TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT, FOR SERVICING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE ROTORS. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2006, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A MUSTY ODOR EMITTING FROM THE FLOOR AND CARPETING OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND REQUESTED THE MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE TRUCK FOR THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR. THEY COULDN'T LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, DURING THE SUMMER OF 2007 ODOR REAPPEARED; THEY REPLACED THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND DOOR WINDOWS IN HOPES OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE. MEANWHILE THE FRONT BRAKES ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE GAUGES (FUEL, OIL, TACH ,VOLTMETER) ACTING ERRATICALLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE BRAKES UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY & PRORATED MY PURCHASE OF A NEW NISSAN AUTO BATTERY; ACCORDING TO SERVICE DEPT. THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE GAUGES MALFUNCTION. THEN AGAIN IN2008, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THE MUSTY ODOR WAS CAUSED BY WATER COMING INTO THE CABIN VIA A SMALL VOID IN THE WINDOW SEALANT AROUND THE "FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD' UPON HEARING THIS, I CHOSE TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC DUE TO NISSAN MECHANIC INABILITY TO RESOLVE THE BRAKE ISSUE & LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE WATER. THIS YEAR 2009, THE REAR END WAS REPAIRED DUE THE SEALS LEAKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PREVENTIVE REPLACEMENT ON THE PASSENGER SEALS. HOWEVER, A FEW OLD ISSUES ALONG WITH NEW ONES THAT STILL EXIST. MY NEW MECHANIC TOLD ME THE SOURCE OF THE WATER & ODOR ISSUE IS THE A/C CONDENSER LEAKING INTO THE CABIN, THE BLINKING AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS DUE TO A HARNESS NEEDING REPLACING IN THE REAR DOORS. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN, I DO NOT TOW ANYTHING WITH IT AND I DO NO OFF ROAD DRIVING. IN 2009 WITH 65,000 MILES MY REAR END STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. I TOOK IT IN TO DEALER TO GET LOOKED AT. DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $2600.00 TO PUT NEW ONE IN. ALSO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO WARRANTY WAS UP JUST 5,000MILES AGO. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. 57K MILES. FOUR TIME THIS WEEK (WEEK OF 21 JULY) THE ABS SYSTEM HAS GONE OUT. I HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF AND THEN RESTART TO HAVE ABS COME BACK TO LIFE. WHEN IT GOES OUT THERE IS A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A YEAR THIS HAS GONE OUT AND I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER. THIS IS A SAFETY OF DRIVING ISSUE, AND SHOULD BE PERMANENTLY FIXED BY NISSAN. *TR
I JUST HAD A MAJOR REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN TRUCK, WHICH WILL COST ME AROUND $3500 TO REPAIR. REAR END STARTED CLUNKING ON TURNS, AND WITHIN 1 DAY WORSENED TO THE POINT IT HARDLY DROVE. NEVER BOUND UP COMPLETELY, BUT HAD IT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAVE IT AT THE SHOP RIGHT NOW AND WAS TOLD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLE NEED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN HAS MADE CHANGES TO THERE REAR DIFF TO HELP THE PROBLEM, BUT NOTHING TO CORRECT ORIGINAL BAD PARTS. PLEASE HELP, SOMEONE WILL GET HURT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN AT APPROX. 45 MILES AN HOUR THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED UP AND I WAS FISH TAILING ALL OVER THE ROAD AND WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE NO HIT SOMEONE OR CRASHED THE TRUCK. 3RD MEMBER SPIT THE DRIVELINE RIGHT OUT AND NOW MY MECHANIC IS TELLING ME NEARLY $4,000.00 TO FIX IT. I ONLY HAVE 94,000 MILES ON IT. NISSAN SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
1. THERE WERE NO KNOW EVENTS APPARENT BEFORE THE FAILURE. 2. REAR AXLE SEAL HAS FAILED ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN LE 4X4 AT 57,000 MILES. AXLE LUBE IS EVERYWHERE ON DRIVERS SIDE RIM, TIRE AND BRAKE COMPONENTS. THERE IS ALSO NOTICEABLE BLOW BY ON THE TAILGATE AND I'M SURE LUBE HAS BEEN DISSIPATED TO VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS WILL LEAD TO A FAILURE OF BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS AND VISION ISSUES WITH FOLLOWING VEHICLES. 3. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE TRUCK IN THE SHOP TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND BEGAN HEARING A POPPING NOISE AROUND THE REAR END. THE DRIVE SHAFT STARTED SPINNING IN THE REAR END GEARS AND LOST ALL PROPULSION, LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE ROAD. *TR

MULTIPLE FAILURES OF RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL. FAILURES AT MILEAGES OF 42186/86082/106492/131033. SAME PARTS REPLACED 43252-7S200 REAR AXLE SEAL, 43070-7S200 REAR SPACER, 40210-7S210 AXLE BEARING. AXLE FLUID DRAINS DIRECTLY ON TO BRAKE CAUSING LOSS OF FUNCTION ON RIGHT REAR WHEEL. ALSO HAS CAUSED POSSIBLE PREMATURE SHOCK ABSORBER WEAR.
TOOK 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP WITH 36,600 MILES TO DEALER FOR REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH NISSAN!! THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY. DEALER REPLACED ,BEARING ,SPACER, SNAP RING, SEAL UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MI. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM !! I THINK THEY SHOULD OFFER A LONG EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR FREE TO TITAN OWNERS!! *TR
I NOTICED A KNOCK WHEN I WAS TAKING HARD LEFT TURNS. TRIED DRIVING IT TO WORK A FEW DAYS LATER AND ON MY WAY IN TO WORK (ANOTHER LEFT TURN) I HEARD A LOUD POP ALMOST LIKE I HIT A POT HOLE OR SOMETHING, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE ROAD. THAT NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME(APPROX. 1 MILE) TOOK MY FINAL LEFT TURN - LOUD CRACKING NOISE AND TIRES SQUEALED-ALSO SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR COMPLETELY FOR A FEW SECONDS. MECHANIC SAID THE SPYDER GEARS IN THE REAR DIFF. HAVE LOST THEIR TEETH. NISSAN WILL ONLY SELL THE WHOLE DIFF. WHICH COSTS $2000 PLUS TAX AND LABOR. NOT COOL. THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ONLY BECAUSE I WAS IN MY CONDOS DRIVEWAY AND THERE WERE NO CARS IN THE PARKING LOT. *TR
MY 05 NISSAN TITAN FUEL GAUGE READS THAT I HAVE A QUARTER OF A TANK LEFT WHEN I RUN OUT OF GAS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY SENDING UNIT IN THE GAS TANK. THIS IS DISTURBING BECAUSE IF I WERE TO RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY OR MY WIFE HAS MY TRUCK AND RUNS OUT OF GAS, THE POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF WHEN THE TRUCK DIES FROM NO FUEL. THIS COULD CAUSE A COLLISION AND RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THIS IS NOT A CHANCE I AM WANTING TO TAKE WITH THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER NISSAN TITANS, BUT WHEN I CALLED ABOUT MINE IT WAS SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT THE 2005 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB SE 4 WD ..VIN NUMBER [XXX]...ALSO HAS THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR NUMEROUS WHEEL ALIGNMENTS BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CAMBER KIT WAS MISSING. THE CAMBER KIT ALLOWED THE FRONT END TO ADJUST PROPERLY DURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WITHOUT A CAMBER KIT AND HAS TO BE PURCHASED AS AN AFTERMARKET PART. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE CAMBER KIT AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CAMBER KIT WAS AN AFTERMARKET PART PURCHASED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAMBER KIT SHOULD HAVE COME WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY DEVICE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

REAR AXLE SEALS, LOCKS, & GASKETS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE DEALER IS CHARGING APPROX. $800 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE OIL IS LEAKING ONTO THE WHEELS FROM THE AXLE PROBLEM. THE SWITCH FOR THE DRIVER CONTROLLED WINDOWS IS OUT AND THE AIR PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON ALMOST 80% OF THE TIME. THE DRIVER SEAT BELT APPEARS TO JAM AND WON'T COME UNDONE OR LATCH ON MOST OF THE TIME. *TT
THERE ARE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN, IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE PART, I HAD TO BUY AN "ENTIRE" NEW REAR DIFFERENTIAL (BECAUSE THIS OF COURSE HAPPENED OUT OF WARRANTY). I WAS TOLD THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED IS ACTUALLY A VERY SMALL PART OF THE DIFFERENTIAL, BUT I HAD TO PAY $4000 TO GET THE ENTIRE THING REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT I AM VERY VERY GLAD THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS ONLY DOING ABOUT 15 MPH WHEN IT WENT, AND IT FELT LIKE I GOT HIT BY A MACK TRUCK!!!!! I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING THE INTERNET TO SEE HOW OFTEN THIS IS HAPPENING AND IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING ALOT! SOMEONE SHOULD CHECK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED! *TR
THE REAR END WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN MY 2005 TITAN AT 55K MILES NO CHARGE DUE TO OVAL SHAPED AXLE TUBES CAUSING AXLE SEAL FAILURE. HERE I AM AGAIN 2012 WITH 115K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY BUT ONLY 60K MILES ON THE REAR END THAT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BLOWN AXLE SEALS DUE TO OUT OF ROUND AXLE TUBES. IF YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE THIS ALL THE AXLE OIL CAN LEAK OUT CAUSING SUDDEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE WHICH MAY LEAD TO A CRASH OR LOSS OF LIFE. NISSAN WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AFTER THE SEALS WHERE REPLACED IN THE SECOND REAR END AND THE SEALS CONTINUE TO LEAK AFTER REPLACEMENT. NISSAN REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE AND STATED "YOUR TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY" IMO THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THE AXLES LEAKING ALONG WITH THE CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS THAT WERE NUMEROUS REPORTED ALSO.
