THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON OUR 2005 TITAN LE SELF-DESTRUCTED LAST WEEK AT 98,000 MILES. *TR
WAS HEARING THE REAR END HUMMING FOR A LITTLE WHILE WHEN ON MAY 6, 2009 MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN'S REAR DIFFERENTIAL GAVE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. GOT VERY CLOSE TO GETTING HIT ON DRIVERS SIDE, DRIVERS HAD TO MANEUVER AROUND ME GOING AT LEAST 50 MPH. IT KICKED BACK IN AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. CONTINUED TO LOCK UP ON ME AFTERWARDS, IT IS NOW IN SHOP GETTING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED. *TR
NISSAN TITAN 2005 SE 4X4 WITH TOW PACKAGE 49,000 MILES. REAR END BROKE TAKING OFF FROM STOP SIGN. DEALER IS HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING A REPLACEMENT. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER SINCE THE 5TH. TALKED TO NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP ME. TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I THINK THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN MY 2005 TITAN IS INADEQUATE. THE FRONT DISC ROTORS WERE BENT @ 20000 MILES AND REPLACED BY NISSAN FOR THIS DEFECT BUT AT 60000 MILES, THE FRONT DISC ROTORS WERE BENT AGAIN. MAKING STOPPING THIS TRUCK HAZARDOUS AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IT TOOK MUCH FARTHER TO STOP. I CHECK THE DISC ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS AND THEY ARE NORMAL. I CONTACT NISSAN BUT THEY DIDN'T RESPONSE.*DT
I PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN TITAN FROM ALAN KURTH DEALERSHIP MINOT, ND. MAY OF 2005. WITHIN THE YEAR I ASKED SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE "STRANGE" BRAKING EXPERIENCE. I NOTICED SOME VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT BRAKES THAT ALSO VIBRATED THE STEERING COLUMN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NORMAL ON A TITAN HEAVY DUTY TRUCK . I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND TOOK THEIR WORD. THAT DEALERSHIP WENT OUT OF BUSINESS SHORTLY THEREAFTER AND THE ONLY OTHER NISSAN DEALER WAS IN BISMARK, A LONG WAY FROM WHERE I LIVED AT THE TIME. I DID TAKE IT TO THAT DEALER, BISMARK HONDA-NISSAN-HYUNDAI IN JULY OF 2006 IN RESPONSE TO A RECALL ABOUT ANOTHER ISSUE. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED BY THEM ABOUT ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THE TRUCK WAS NOT DRIVEN THAT MUCH, CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND THE VIBRATION HAS BECOME WORSE AND WORSE ONCE I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO FLORIDA LAST FALL TO THE POINT THAT I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. I WAS TOLD THEN AFTER THEY INSPECTED THE TRUCK ON APRIL 23RD. 2009 THAT NISSAN HAD IDENTIFIED A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS MODEL CALLED BRAKE JUDDER HE SUGGESTED I CALL NISSAN TO SEE HOW THEY WERE MANAGING THE PROBLEM. I TELEPHONED NISSAN CONSUMER OFFICE ON APRIL 24TH AND SPOKE WITH ANDY WHO OPENED A CASE FILE AND THAT NUMBER IS 6477694. HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BEGIN WITH THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THEM INSPECT THE TRUCK SO I CONTACTED MAROONE NISSAN IN FT LAUDERDALE AND TOOK THE TRUCK IN ON APRIL 27, 2009. I DEALT WITH THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER. WHEN THEY HAD FINALLY FINISHED WITH THEIR INSPECTION HE TOLD ME THAT "NISSAN WOULD NOT PROVIDE A COURTESY REPAIR SINCE THEY HAD INITIALLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN 2008. I HAD RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING THAT NISSAN FAILED TO PROVIDE. 1. THE ISSUE WAS SENT OUT TO ALL NISSAN SERVICE MANAGERS ON MARCH 16, 2005. THE REPAIRS WERE NOT MADE PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. 2. THEY WERE DIRECTED TO SUPPLY A "LEGIBLE PHOTOCOPY" ABOUT THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. THEY DID NOT. THIS WAS DETAILED IN NISSAN ADVISORY NNAWB/05-01. *TR
DRIVE SHAFT RIPPED OUT OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. A SMALL EVER INCREASING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK WHEN COASTING. FROM THE VERY START OF THE NOISE TO COMPLETE FAILURE WAS ABOUT 40-MILES, BUT THE NOISE WAS ONLY LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR WITH THE WINDOWS SHUT AND RADIO OFF ABOUT 10-MILES BEFORE COMPLETE FAILURE. TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP, CHANCES ARE GOOD NEW DRIVE SHAFT AND ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WILL BE NEEDED. IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. HAD THE DRIVESHAFT NOT RIPPED FREE FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL, THE REAR WHEELS COULD HAVE LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO SKID OUT OF CONTROL. *TR
I HAVE A NISSAN TITAN KINGCAB 4X4 WITH 36,000 MILES. IT STARTED MAKING NOISES WHEN I WOULD TURN A CORNER IN TOWN, THIS KEPT GETTING WORSE, AND THEN STARTED SOUNDING LIKE GEARS WERE "JUMPING" TEETH, AND THE PICKUP WOULD JERK WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THREE DAYS LATTER IT BECAME EXTREMELY SEVERE AND WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAREND, AND JERK EVEN WITH STARTING SLOWLY FROM A START. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REAREND WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE NISSAN DEALER THAT 60 OTHER NISSAN DEALERS IN THE US WERE WAITING FOR REARENDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ALSO. MY PICKUP HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS AND THE DEALER CAN'T TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL HAVE A REAREND TO FIX IT. *TR

REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK, HAD TO REPLACED SEAL AND REAR BRAKES. *TR
I AM A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER SEEKING YOUR OFFICE'S ASSISTANCE ON RESOLVING AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE UNEXPECTED COLLAPSE OF THE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM ON MY VEHICLE, AND ALSO TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION THE DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS AND OPERATORS OF THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROADS NATIONWIDE ARE EXPOSED. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICK-UP TRUCK PURCHASED NEW IN JANUARY 2005. THE VEHICLE HAS 78,000 MILES, IS WELL MAINTAINED, AND MAINLY USED TO COMMUTE TO WORK. IT IS NOT DRIVEN OFF-ROAD, NOR IT IS USED TO CARRY HEAVY LOADS. A SHACKLE SUPPORTING THE LEFT REAR SUSPENSION LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE ASSEMBLY COLLAPSED, PERFORATING THE TRUCK BED AS SHOWN ON THE ENCLOSED PHOTOS. [?FORTUNATELY?, IT OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT WHILE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC ROAD; OTHERWISE THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC DUE TO THE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL]. I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE NISSAN DEALER (1-860-448-0050). THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT-OF-WARRANTY; THEREFORE, HE HAD TO CONTACT NISSAN CORPORATION FOR INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY FOR RUST (60 MONTHS-UNLIMITED MILES). FURTHERMORE, SUCH A MAJOR STRUCTURAL FAILURE IS BEYOND ANY WARRANTY COVERAGE LIMITATIONS BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED, WITHIN FOUR YEARS, TO PROVIDE ONE OF ITS MAJOR INTENDED AND IMPLIED USES, WHICH IS TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO ITS OPERATOR AND PASSENGERS IN A SAFE MANNER AND FURTHERMORE, NOT POSE A RISK WHEN OPERATED ON THE ROADS BY EXPOSING OTHER DRIVERS AND PROPERTY TO INJURY AND DAMAGE. OTHER NISSAN TITAN OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SINCE IT BEEFED-UP THE SHACKLES ON THEIR 2008 MODELS, BUT OLDER MODELS STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. HOW CAN I EMAIL PHOTOS OF THE FAILURE. YOUR INTERVENTION IS REQUESTED. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN 66,000 MILES (90% HIGHWAY). PROBLEM BEGAN 03/27/09 WHILE MAKING RIGHT HAND TURN TRUCK BEGAN SLIPPING AND BUCKING ON THE LEFT REAR CAME CLOSE TO ACCIDENT, DROVE TO NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE REAR END DIFFERENTIALS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE TRUCK THE WHOLE REAR END NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (4500.00) AND THE FRONT END IS LEAKING (350.00). I HAVE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING NOR BEEN OFF ROAD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SEE ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS. THIS SHOULD BE A RE-CALL. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILED RELEASING FLUID ON THE REAR BRAKE ROTOR AND DIMINISHING BRAKING ABILITY. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN'S REAR WHEEL SEALS ARE LEAKING AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE SEAL, BEARING AND SPACER REPLACED TWICE. THEY BEGIN LEAKING AND RUN DOWN ON THE REAR BRAKES AND CAUSE THEM TO SLIP. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN DESIGN HERE. I KNOW OF MANY OTHER TITAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE COMMUTING IN MY NISSAN TITAN, THE RIDE BECAME VERY JERKY AND THERE WERE LOUD METAL ON METAL SOUNDS. THE VEHICLE ALSO SEEMED TO HAVE TROUBLE SWITCHING GEARS. UPON TAKING IT TO A NISSAN SERVICE CENTER, THE TECHNICIANS CONCLUDED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE VEHICLE HAS COOPER VEON LTZ TIRES (NA), SIZE 285/60/18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT AND THE INTERIOR SIDEWALL HAD LARGE CRACKS. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXHIBITED INTERIOR SIDEWALL CRACKS, BUT THEY WERE NOT AS SEVERE AS THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED TIRE SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTIVE TIRES, BUT COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 20O5 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A DIFFERENT OCCASION AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY REPLACED THE RELAY SWITCH AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. A RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED TWO YEARS LATER AFTER THE REPAIR. THE RECALL WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER TO VERIFY WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WITH LOUD BANGING AND VIOLENT JERKS. *TR
OCCASIONALLY I WOULD HEAR A BANG ACCOMPANIED BY A VIBRATION WHILE MAKING TURNS. THE INTERVALS BETWEEN THE EVENTS BEGAN TO DECREASE AND WOULD OCCUR EVERY TIME I MADE A TURN. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE REAR WHEELS UNEXPECTEDLY LOCKED UP CAUSING SKIDDING. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THE REAR AXLE HOUSING AND DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED UNDER THE 5YR. / 60000MI POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN EXHAUST FLANGE AT EXHAUST TIP FAILURE THIS CAUSED THE REAR WIRE HARNESS TO BURN UP AND THE REAR ABS TO FAIL. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE LEAKS DUE TO POOR FACTORY CLAMPS. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON MANY OTHER FELLOW TITAN OWNERS. I HAD TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS SINCE THE TRUCK IS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEGAN TO MAKE STRANGE NOISES SO I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2500. THE TRUCK HAD 61,500 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY 60,000 MILES AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PART AT NO COST. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REFUSED ALSO. THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED HAD A TOWING PACKAGE INSTALLED. IN MY OPINION, THE LIGHTWEIGHT REAR AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL THAT NISSAN INSTALLED ON THESE VEHICLES IS INADEQUATE AND THEREFORE DEFECTIVE. NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THESE PARTS AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY HEARD A BONG TWO DAYS LATER I FOUND A DENT UPWARD IN BED OF TRUCK AND FOUND A BROKEN SHACKLE. AFTER REPLACING PART AND LOOKING HOW IT WAS MADE YOU COULD SEE THAT IT A POOR DESIGN. ROLL METAL WITH 2 SMALL WELDS THAT PREVENT METAL FROM UNROLLING. ALL WEIGHT OF BACK OF TRUCK AND ANY JARRING CAUSE IT TO SAP. IF BOTH SIDE FAIL AND I HAD TO MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVE YOU COULD LOOSE THE HOLE BACK SUSPENSION I HAVE DIGITAL PICTURES OF FAIL PART . NISSAN TITAN SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS/CABLES FAILING IN COLD WEATHER. I WAS PUTTING IT OFF AS JUST A FREAK OCCURRENCE ON MY VEHICLE, UNTIL I WAS GIVING A RIDE TO SOME CHILDREN AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY. I NEEDED TO STRAP THE DOOR CLOSED TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE DOOR. THEN I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING. OBVIOUSLY NISSAN USED SOME SUB PAR QUALITY EQUIPMENT. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT MAYBE THEY GOT SOME BAD PARTS , BUT THEY NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I PAID ALMOST 500 DOLLARS TO GET THIS FIXED WHICH I THOUGHT WAS OUTRAGEOUS BUT FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN IT HAD TO BE DONE. *TR
FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN SE KING CAB "BINDED" UP ACCORDING TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THUS CREATING VIBRATION IN THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK AND THEREBY DESTROYING THE OIL SEAL AND CORRESPONDING BEARINGS IN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRANSFER CASE. ALL TOLD, MY TRUCK SITS IN A REPAIR SHOP NEEDING NEW FRONT HUBS (R AND L), A NEW FRONT DRIVE SHAFT, AND A NEW TRANSFER CASE. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS SUBSTANTIAL, AROUND FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. I AM NOT SURE IF MY THIRD PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL COVER THE DAMAGES OR NOT. I AM AWAITING WORD FROM THE WARRANTY COMPANY TO DISCOVER WHAT INDEED THEY WILL COVER BEFORE I HAVE THE TRUCK REPAIRED. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS ON OUR 2005 NISSAN TITAN () DID NOT DEPLOY IN SPITE ON THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE TRUCK BEING SMASHED IN. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY WILL NOT CALL ME BACK. *TR
DOOR LATCHES FREEZE AND WILL NOT OPEN, OR IF ABLE TO BE OPENED, WILL NOT LATCH IN FREEZING TEMPS. OTHERWISE, IF THE DOOR IS SECURED, THE LATCH FREEZES TRAPPING THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE! WHAT IF THERE IS A FIRE? WHAT IF MY FAMILY IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH? DOES A CHILD HAVE TO FALL OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE AND GET KILLED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS? YOU FOLKS HAVE BEEN AWARE FOR SOME TIME NOW, WHY HAVEN'T YOU DONE ANYTHING? THIS IS A VERY BLATANT SAFETY ISSUE. MY NEXT STEP IS TO CALL MY ATTORNEY. *TR

JUST HEARD FROM MY NISSAN DEALER, THEY SAID MY REAR AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING. I READ THIS COULD CAUSE BRAKING ISSUES. THIS TRUCK HAS 61,000 MILES AND THE NISSAN TITAN'S HAVE BEEN KNOW TO HAVE FAULTY REAR AXLE SEALS. DEALER WANTS ME TO REPLACE, BUT SEEM WHERE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT IT SHOULDN'T BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE ESPECIALLY AT 61,000 MILES. THIS SHOULD BE A LONG TERM WEAR ITEM. *TR

ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL DEALERS THIS SEAMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL NISSAN TITANS FROM 2004-2007 WITH THE SEALS AND DIFFERENTIALS BREAKING DOWN. *TR
THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN SE KING CAB 4X4 PICKUP TRUCK WITH APPROX. 60K MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD IN TWO WHEEL DRIVE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS THE C-CLIP THAT RETAINS THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AXLE WITHIN THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED ALLOWING THE AXLE TO SEPARATE FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, DISABLING THE CAPABILITY OF THE ENGAGING FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AND DAMAGING THE EXTERNAL SPLINES ON THE AXLE SHAFT, AS WELL AS THE INTERNAL ENGAGING SPLINES IN THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. THE PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING OUT OF THE 60K MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BY THE TIME I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. PARTS AND LABOR ESTIMATED AT ~$3400. *TR

JUST REGULAR DRIVING, THE REAR WHEEL SEALS LEAK AND SEEMS TO ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL VENT. DEALERSHIP SAID MORE THAN LIKELY I WILL NEED A WHOLE NEW REAREND. *TR
THE FEEL GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW ACCURATE GASOLINE LEVELS. IT DOES THIS REGARDLESS OF SPEED OR WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AS IF YOU WERE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND RAN OUT OF GAS YOU COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE FUEL GAUGE CAN SHOW YOU HAVE HALF A TANK BUT YOU ONLY ACTUALLY HAVE A QUARTER OF A TANK. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS FOR ANOTHER MODEL BUT NOT FOR MINE.

The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the braking system was reset. Additionally, the fuel gauge was inoperable causing the vehicle to run out of fuel. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

WHENEVER THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW FREEZING THE DOOR LOCK/HANDLES FREEZE AND THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR IF I CAN GET IT OPEN IT WILL NOT LATCH. THE DOORS (BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT) HAVE FLOWN OPEN WHEN GOING AROUND A CORNER WHEN IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE CLOSED. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE REAR AXLE SEALS HAVE HAD A SIGNIFICANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 26,000 MILES. THIS LEAK HAS CAUSED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID TO LEAK ONTO THE REAR BRAKES CAUSING REDUCED BRAKING ABILITY. *TR
AT 66,000 MILES THE REAR END SPIDER GEARS DISINTEGRATED CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE PINION GEARS AS WELL. NISSAN DOES NOT PROVIDE PARTS FOR THIS- BUT REQUIRE THE CUSTOMER TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE REAR END WHICH COSTS $2800.00. I AM 6000 MILES OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY BUT THEY WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION FOR A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE GEAR MATERIAL AND POOR QUALITY. MY NISSAN SERVICE WRITER SUBMITTED A REQUEST AND WAS DENIED BY NISSAN. *TR
