TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER A POTHOLE, THE CONTACT HEARD LOUD NOISES COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AGO, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A MUCH LOUDER NOISE AND THE VEHICLE DROVE AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO GET AWAY. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, SHE DISCOVERED THAT THE LEAF SPRING PUNCTURED THROUGH THE TRUCK BED. THE CONTACT HAS PHOTOS AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. COMMENT ON REAR-END FAILURE: REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED LEAVING A GAS STATION AT 10 MPH WITH NO TRAILER DISABLING DRIVER FROM HAVING PROPER CONTROL OF VEHICLE WITH INTERMITTENT DRIVE/POWER-TRAIN CAPABILITIES AND DISTRACTING POPPING/GRINDING SOUNDS OF FAILED COMPONENTS IN REAR DIFFERENTIAL. UPON REMOVING REAR DIFFERENTIAL INTERNAL GEARS FOUND BOTH SPIDER GEARS HAD NUMEROUS TEETH BROKEN OFF WHILE ALL OTHER INTERNAL GEARS LOOKED "NORMAL". NISSAN1 (CASE/FILE#6346683) AND MY LOCAL DEALER/SERVICE MANAGER OFFERED NO WARRANTY REPLACEMENT HELP AFTER IT WAS REQUESTED. REPAIR FROM NISSAN WAS QUOTED AT $3,604.67 FOR COMPLETE AXLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT AND ONLY OFFERS A 12,000 MILE X 12 MONTH WARRANTY! VEHICLE HAD 69,960 MILES AT TIME OF DEFECT/MALFUNCTION. REAR DIFFERENTIAL UPGRADED TO A DETROIT TRUETRAC (LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL) AT OWNERS EXPENSE BUT TO LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE NISSAN REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY/COMPONENTS AND REPORTED FAILURE CASES WITH MINIMUM NISSAN COOPERATION! THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ON ALL TITANS. PLEASE HELP! *TR
NISSAN FAILED TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION UNDER THE 60K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT 56K MILES, AND HAS BEEN OUT OF USE SINCE NOVEMBER 11TH. THE VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE NORTH CAROLINA LEMON LAW: AS WITH OTHER LEMON LAWS, IT IS REQUIRED THAT AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS REPURCHASE OR REPLACE A VEHICLE THAT HAS NOT BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED WITHIN A "REASONABLE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS". IN NORTH CAROLINA, THIS REASONABLE NUMBER IS FOUR ATTEMPTS OR IF THE CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE WAITING REPAIR FOR A CUMULATIVE TOTAL OF 20 OR MORE BUSINESS DAYS DURING ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD OF THE WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN OUT SINCE NOVEMBER 11TH, AND THEY STILL WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE COST OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THEY SHOULD COVER IT NO QUESTIONS ASKED. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN REAR END GEARS WENT OUT. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE RING AND PINION GEARS ALONG WITH THE SPIDER GEAR SET UP. BASICALLY REBUILD THE ENTIRE REAREND. I HAVE READ SEVERAL PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ISSUE TO THIS WEBSITE. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE REAREND LOCKED UP AND I SLID OFF THE ROAD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN I SLID OFF THE ROAD OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE CAR WILL STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT ANY SPEED AND START KNOCKING. THE LIGHTS WILL GO ON AND OFF IN THE DASH FOR A FEW SECOND BEFORE IT COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. IF YOU TRY TO IGNITION AGAIN YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO START. BUT YOU CAN TURN OFF THE CAR FOR A MINUTE AND START IT BACK UP. ONE TIME I WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF MY TRUCK HITTING THE CRUISE BUTTON. THE BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT WHEN YOU ARE ON THE ROAD CURSING AND YOU VEHICLE STALLS YOU JUST HOPE NO ONE IS BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF YOU. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART BUT I HAD TO COVER HALF OF THE COST OF LABOR AND PART. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE AFTER HIGHWAY DRIVING ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AT AN EXIT DUE TO UNEXPECTED LUNGE OF VEHICLE AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND CONTINUING. NISSAN CLAIMED THIS WAS COMMON WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE AS BEFORE. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING OUT OF A TURN, I HEARD A NUMBER OF LOUD CLUNKS AND FELT TRUCK KICK. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL HAD FAILED. CONVENIENTLY, THIS WAS AT 66K MILES, JUST 6 OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS QUOTED NEARLY 4K TO REPAIR, BECAUSE NISSAN DOES NOT SELL THE PARTS TO REBUILD, JUST THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY, TIRE TO TIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE EXHAUST PIPE COULD BE HEARD SHAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE A TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER IT, I SAW FLUID LEAKING DOWN FROM THE AXLE AREA ONTO THE BRAKE HEAT SHIELD. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A LEAK IN THE REAR RIGHT AXLE SEAL. SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT, IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR
NORMAL DRIVING, NISSAN TITAN REAR LEFT AXEL SEAL HAS NOW FAILED AND IS LEAKING EXCESSIVE GREASE/FLUID OUT ON BRAKES AND WHEEL. *TR
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER BRAKING. NISSAN HAS IDENTIFIED THAT 2004 AND EARLY 2005 TITANS WERE BUILT WITH BRAKE ROTORS THAT ARE TOO SMALL, RESULTING IN THE ROTORS WARPING DUE TO OVERHEATING. NISSAN CALLS THIS ISSUE BRAKE JUDDERING AND HAS ISSUED THREE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING FIXING THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING AN UPGRADED (BIGGER ROTORS) BRAKE KIT. NISSAN EXTENDED THE BRAKE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE TO 36 MONTHS/36,000MILES. I AM UNDER THE MILEAGE LIMIT (31,000) BUT HAVE EXCEEDED THE TIME LIMIT BY ONE MONTH. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I FEEL THEY NEED TO BE WILLING TO REPLACE THE ROTORS FOR ANY VEHICLE ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH THE UNDERSIZED ROTORS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT MY ROTORS ARE WARPED AND RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT. *TR
WHEN TUNING MY TRUCK BEGAN TO "CLANK" I WAS 60 MILES FROM HOME. WHOLE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
BASICALLY I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN INTO THE POST OFFICE WHEN I HEARD A LOUD, CLANKING-TYPE OF NOISE. I KNEW RIGHT AWAY SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING WITH THE REAR-END OF MY 05 TITAN 4X4, AND BEFORE I COULD STOP IT MADE THE HORRIFIC NOISE ABOUT 4 MORE TIMES. I FULLY EXPECTED TO LOOK INTO MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SEE PARTS AND FLUID ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY, BUT FORTUNATELY NOTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND A MECHANIC, WHO INFORMED ME ABOUT THIS SITE AND THE PROBLEMS NISSAN WAS HAVING WITH REAR-ENDS. *TR
AT JUST OVER 60,000 MILES, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED!!! I HAVE NEVER HAULED ANYTHING OVER 1100 LBS. I 'D PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN 2005 AND ALSO HAVE THE TOW PACKAGE. I DON'T DRIVE OFF ROAD. MY WARRANTY WAS UP @ 36,000 MILES. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND THE RPMS WENT INTO THE "RED" WHEN I HAD PULLED AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN. I WAS GOING ONLY 15MPH. THEN THE TRUCK FREE SPUN AND GRABBED AT A HIGHER RPM DAMAGING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. AS I DROVE DOWN THE STREET, KNOCKING SOUNDS OCCURRED. THE TRUCK WILL BE TOWED ON MONDAY TO A MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A MAJOR WRECK IF THERE HAD NOT HAVE BEEN A SHOULDER TO COAST ONTO! *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RECALL FOR THE FAILURE; THEREFORE, THE REPAIR WOULD COST $900. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,112. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE REAR AXLE SEALS TWICE ALREADY IN MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THEY LEAK SO BAD THAT I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO ADD OIL TO MY DIFFERENTIALS. BOTH FRONT AND BACK. *TR
COLUMN SHIFTER CAUSES DAMAGE TO WIRING HARNESS OF THE MANUAL MODE TRANSMISSION BUTTON. WHEN SHIFTING VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, COLUMN HITS WIRING HARNESS, AND OVER TIME CAUSES WIRING TO THE TRANSMISSION MANUAL MODE BUTTON TO BREAK. ONCE THIS BREAKS, THERE IS NO MEANS TO DOWN SHIFT VEHICLE, CAUSING A HAZARD ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING ROADS WHERE THERE ARE ELEVATION CHANGES. WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE MANUAL MODE BUTTON FAILURE BY RESEARCHING NISSAN TITAN FORUMS (CLUB TITAN AND TITAN TALK). UPON REMOVING STEERING COLUMN SHROUD IMMEDIATELY NOTICED CHAFFING OF THE WIRING HARNESS, AND THE BROKEN WIRE. CONTACTED NISSAN, WAS GIVEN FILE NUMBER 6550464, NISSAN WAS NOT CONCERNED WITH THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE AGE (CURRENTLY 4 YEARS) OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL IS LEAKING REALLY BAD TO WHERE ITS GOING DOWN THE BACK OF THE BRAKE ROTOR AND DRIPPING ON THE RIM. IT HAS CAUSE MY BRAKE ,SLIP LIGHT TO COME ONE. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF TITAN OWNERS. I M AFRAID THAT IT WILL GET ONTO MY BRAKES AND CAUSE THEM NOT TO WORK. 2005 NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING MODERATELY 76000 MILES WHEN FIRST NOTICED. HAVE LOOKED AROUND INTERNET AND APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM REAR END LUBE LEAKS ONTO REAR BRAKES CAUSING A REDUCED EFFECTIVENESS OF BRAKES. *TR

I WAS AT A GAS STATION FILLING MY TRUCK. I PLACED IT INTO REVERSE AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BROKE CAUSING ME TO ONLY BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY TRUCK AT 20 MPH AT 5000 RPM. I CALLED GREG AT PRG PRODUCTS AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE 2004 AND 2005 NISSAN TITANS HAD A DEFECTIVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF TITANS WITH FAULTY REAR DIFFERENTIALS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE BEGAN DISPLAYING HIGH READINGS. CURRENTLY, THE GAUGE CONTINUALLY READS HIGH. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY ALSO STATED THAT IT IS BETTER FOR THE GAUGE TO BE HIGH THAN LOW. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING CAUSING GREASE TO COVER THE REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLY RESULTING IN A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO REDUCED BRAKE POWER. BRAKES ARE WARPING AGAIN! MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A TSB BUT A RECALL SHOULD BE DIRECTED. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL NHTSA 10V074000 FOR A DEFECTIVE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES; THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE MAY INACCURATELY DISPLAY THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS SOME FUEL, TYPICALLY ABOUT ONE QUARTER TANK, WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. MY TRUCK HAS PRECISELY THAT PROBLEM, I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE GAUGE SHOWS 1/4 FULL. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS RECALL AND WHEN I ARRVIED I WAS TOLD I DID NOT QUALIFY. I CALLED NISSAN TODAY AND AGAIN WAS TOLD I DO NOT QUALIFY THOUGH THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT VIN'S OR MANUFACTURING DATES QUALIFY. I BELIEVE THAT SINCE MY TRUCK EXHIBITS THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, MY VEHICLE SHOULD QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL SENDER UNIT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SMOKE ENTERED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL STOPPED WORKING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V284000 (EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:AIR CONDITIONER). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR CENTER THAT HAD PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED THE REPAIR CAUSED THE WIRES TO MELT AROUND THE FAN. THE AUTO CENTER REPRESENTATIVE (WHO WAS ACTUALLY THE ONE FILING THE COMPLAINT) STATED THAT THE RECALL REMEDY DID NOT ACTUALLY REPAIR THE ENTIRE FAILURE. THE REPRESENTATIVE FURTHER STATED THAT THE FAN REPAIR WAS INSUFFICIENT AND THE RECALL NOTICE NEVER DESCRIBED WHAT COULD OVERHEAT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR ASSEMBLY. TWO YEARS AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,400.

REAR DIFFERENTIAL AXLE SEAL FAILURE, CAUSING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID TO LEAK ONTO REAR DISC BRAKES MAKING BRAKING DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. REPAIR WILL COST ~$500.00. COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE, MANUFACTURER HAS PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT WILL NOT COVER THE COST FOR REPAIR. VEHICLE RECENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 62,600 MILES ON ODOMETER. *TR
I OBSERVED A LEAKING REAR SEAL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY TRUCKS REAR AXLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER GETTING A NEW DIFFERENTIAL. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED IT WAS DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. THE DIFFERENTIAL GETS TOO HOT AND THE PRESSURE OF THE HEATED LIQUID FORCES THE SEAL AT THE END OF THE AXLE TO FAIL. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT A NEW DIFFERENTIAL HAD BEEN DESIGNED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WOULD BE INSTALLED ON MY TRUCK WHEN THE NEW PARTS ARRIVED. THIS SLICK FLUID COULD HAVE IMPACTED BRAKING ON THIS TRUCK DUE TO THE REAR DISC BRAKE ROTORS BEING EXPOSED. I CAUGHT THE LEAK EARLY AND NO FLUID HAD CONTACTED THE ROTORS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE HEARD A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE REPAIRS NEEDED BUT STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS RELATED TO THE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING ON A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN WITH 70,000 MILES. THIS IS ABSURD THIS TRUCKS REAR AXLE SHOULDN'T BE LEAKING ALREADY. I DON'T EVEN PULL OR HAUL ANYTHING HEAVY IN THIS TRUCK. ITS ONLY DRIVING IN TOWN NOT OFF ROAD. I WAS GIVEN A QUOTE OF $750 TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE SELS ARE ONLY $25. THEN AN EXTRA CHARGE OF $100 TO REPLACE THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. FLUID COSTS $7. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH TITANS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN TITAN IN 2/2005. HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED AT 25,000 UNDER WARRANTY WHEN BEGAN TO FEEL VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. PRESENTLY I HAVE 57,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE SAME VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES IS HAPPENING AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A UPDATED TORQUE MEMBER KIT AND NEW FRONT PADS AND BRAKES FOR MY TRUCK AT A COST OF $756.59 BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO TAKE MY COMPLIANT TO THE FACTORY. I HAVE CALLED REPEATEDLY TO THE FACTORY AND AM STILL WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. DRIVING MY TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND I AM RISKING MY LIFE EVERYDAY I GET INTO IT TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK. I BELIEVE THAT THE NISSAN TITANS HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THEIR BRAKES. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN 2005 WITH 14 MILES SHOWING ON THE ODOMETER. AFTER THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED A LOT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I NEVER LEAVE MY FOOT ON OR RIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL NOR DO I USE THE BRAKES EXCESSIVELY, MOST OF THE MILES ON THE VEHICLE ARE HIGHWAY MILES BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS USED MOSTLY FOR VACATION PURPOSES. I DO HOWEVER TOW A SMALL 6 BY 12 FOOT BOX TRAILER WITH 4 BICYCLES IN IT, WHICH MAKES FOR A LIGHT LOAD. IT HAS CONTINUED TO PROGRESS AND BECOME MORE PRONOUNCED AS THE VEHICLE AGES. AT AROUND 13,000 MILES THE BRAKES SOMETIMES GRAB OR WOULD NOT STOP WITH OUT APPLYING EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL MUCH MORE THAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW, THIS WOULD BRING THE TRUCK TO A SHAKING, ROUGH OR SOMETIMES TIRE SQUEALING STOP. AT 13,300 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, THEY SAID THEY COULD TRY MACHINING THE ROTORS FOR AROUND $440 OR REPLACE THE ROTORS WHICH WOULD COST QUITE A BIT MORE, HOWEVER THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE TRUCK STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 14,991 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I FEEL IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE OUT OF ABOUT 10 NEW VEHICLES THAT I PURCHASED WHICH HAS BRAKE PROBLEMS. *TR

NOW AGAIN THE RIGHT REAR IS LEAKING AGAIN AT 79,000. I TALKED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THEY DON'T SEE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE WHEEL SEALS LEAKING. FROM WHAT I READ ABOUT OTHER OWNERS OF NISSAN TITANS I DISAGREE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. GETTING OIL ON THE BRAKES IS A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. HER HUSBAND REACHED IN THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BECAUSE THE DOOR WOULD OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. ONCE THE DOOR WAS OPENED, HE USED SAND TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY SIMILAR FIRE COMPLAINTS WITH THAT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE BCM THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FIRE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS SENDING AN INVESTIGATIVE TEAM TO THE DEALER TO CONFIRM THE FINDINGS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000. UPDATED
REAR AXLE SEALS HAVE FAILED ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE FIRST TIME AT 41,000 MILES (AUGUST 07). DEALER REPLACED SEALS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY FAILED AGAIN IN MAY 2008 AT 56,000 MILES. THIS TIME THE LEAK SOAKED THE PARKING BREAK SHOES WITH OIL. I WAS WARNED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARKING BREAK MAY BE INEFFECTIVE WHILE I WAITED FOR PARTS TO BE ORDERED. LUCKILY THE LEAK WAS CAUGHT BEFORE THE REAR DISC BRAKE PADS WERE SOAKED. DEALER REPLACED BEARINGS, AXLE SPACER, SNAP RING, BREATHER, PARKING BRAKE SHOES, AND A GASKET UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP. WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AT 30 MPH I STEPPED ON MY BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK, MY BRAKES BECAME MUSHY, THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND, AND MY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. BY PRESSING DOWN HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I WAS ABLE TO SLOW TO A STOP. I EVENTUALLY MADE MY WAY INTO A PARKING LOT. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS FINE. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE THE RED LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. IT IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS UNDERGOING DIAGNOSTICS. BRAKES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE IN A VEHICLE. THEY CANNOT SPONTANEOUSLY FAIL. THIS HAS BEEN A GROWING PROBLEM ON NISSAN TITANS AND ARMADAS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THANK YOU. *TR
