FAILURE OF DIFFERENTIAL ON MY 2005 NISSAN SE CREW CAB P/U. THE DIFFERENTIAL JUST FAILED AFTER ENGAGING THE 4WD ON THE FLY GOING ABOUT 25MPH ON A LEVEL SERVICE NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY, IT JUST FAILED. MY VEHICLE HAD HARDLY EVER BEEN USED OF ROAD AND ONLY HAS A 35,000 MILES ON IT. I DON'T DRIVE IT HARD AND IT IS EXCEPTIONALLY MAINTAINED. THIS MAKES ME WONDER IF I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED A TOYOTA TUNDRA OR A CHEVY SILVERADO. *TR

NORMAL DRIVING. TWO LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS THAT LEAKED SO BAD THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED. POWER STEERING PUMP LINE LEAKED OUT ALL THE POWER STEERING FLUID. FAILED RACK AND PINION STEERING. *JB
MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN REAR DIFFERENTIAL JUST BLEW OUT AT 43,000 MILES. THIS TRUCK IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN ON ROADS, NEVER HARSH OFF-ROAD USE. USED TO PULL A 5300# BOAT. TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED TOW PACKAGE. *TR
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING FLUID ONTO REAR BRAKES, REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE FROM LEAKS. *TR

ENTIRE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE SIDEWALL WAS CUT OUT IN A CIRCLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. HE NOTICED THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE. THE DEALER STATED THAT FLUID LEAKED WHICH CAUSED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEALS TO FAIL AND THE TRANSAXLE TO CORRODE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,070 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. UPDATED 09/06/07 *TR
ON 7/12/07 NISSAN HAD TO REPLACE BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ON THE TRUCK WITH 41,795 MILES ON IT. THESE WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW AGAIN AT 106,000 MILES BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE AGAIN CRACKED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THESE MANIFOLDS ONLY LAST 50-60,000 MILES BEFORE THEY FAIL AND THAT THEY ARE REPLACING TH *TTEM ON ALL THE TRUCKS. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF I GO TO TITAN TALK WEBSITE THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE A FAULTY PART THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF. *TT

2005 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB 4X4, THE CARPET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CONSTANTLY WET, HAD THE FIREWALL RESEALED CHANGED AN A/C DRAIN AND RESEALED THE SEAM IN THE FLOOR BOARD AND IT IS STILL WET. THE DEALER HAS CHANGES THE CARPET AND THE PADDING ONCE ALREADY . IN SPITE OF ALL THIS THE CARPET REMAINS WET AFTER A RAIN. *TR

THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING CRACKED ON A 2005 NISSAN TITAN 4*4. TRUCK HAS 48,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS THIS ENTIRE TIME. DEALER IS TRYING TO AVOID COVERING IT UNDER WARRANTY. ESTIMATED REPAIR COSTS > $2,000.
OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN 5.6 LE 4X4 OFFROAD AND TOW PACKAGE. ON 5/29/07, I WAS PULLING MY TRAVEL TRAILER AND MADE A TURN, THE REAR END MADE A LOUD AND TRUCK SHUDDERING THUMP. AFTERWARDS, EVERYTIME I ACCELERATED OR TURNED, THE REAR END WOULD THUMP AND SHAKE THE ENTIRE TRUCK. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE REAR END NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. I WAS IN RICHMOND, VA BUT LIVE IN NJ, SO I DECIDED TO TRY TO GET IT HOME. PUT IT IN 4X4 HI MODE AND MADE IT. DROPPED IT OFF TO NISSAN DEALER IN NJ, THEY ARE REPLACING THE REAR END NOW, UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
2 REAR END FAILURES ON 05 NISSAN TITAN. *TR
I BOUGHT A NISSAN TITAN [2005].NEW. I HAVE 86,000 MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE RIGHT REAR SEALS HAS STARTED TO LEAK. DEALER WANT FIX IT AS A FACTORY DEFECT, ALSO THE RIGHT TIRE STICKS OUT MORE THAN THE LEFT. I NEED HELP PROVING IT'S TOTALLY FACTORY PROBLEM. *TR
NOTICED ROAD NOISE THAT INCREASED WITH MILEAGE. THEN SLIGHT VIBRATION OVER TIME. HAD TIRE ROTATIONS BY OIL CHANGERS AND DEALERSHIP. THEY NOTICED NOTHING ABOUT TIRES. WHEN CONDITION GOT MORE NOTICEABLE,I WENT TO 2 TIRE SHOPS. THEY FIRST TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO GO TO A GOODYEAR SHOP BECAUSE I HAVE TIRE SEPARATION. THE SECOND WAS A GOODYEAR STORE THAT TOLD ME THAT I HAD TREAD SEPARATION AND TWISTED BELTS WHICH WERE MANUFACTURED DURING THE STRIKE AT GOODYEAR AND MADE BY OFFICE PERSONNEL. SINCE THIS WAS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE TIRE, IN MY EYES, I FELT THAT GOODYEAR SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPENSE OF NEW TIRES. THE GOODYEAR SHOP STATED THAT THEY WILL SUBMIT THIS AS ROAD NOISE AND GET A MINIMUM L REFUND BACK TO HELP OFFSET THE COST OF NEW TIRES THAT I MUST BUY AT THE TUNE OF $700.00. OF COURSE WE DIDN'T WANT TO PUT THE SAME TIRE BACK ON THE TRUCK. ALSO THESE TIRES HAD 26,300 MILES ON THEM. I HAVE DONE NOTHING EXCEPT CHECK PRICING AT OTHER TIRE PLACES TO SEE IF I AM GETTING ANY DISCOUNT AT ALL. TOTALLY FRUSTRATED I FELT THAT GOODYEAR SHOULD PAY FOR THESE TIRES TO BE REPLACED. ALSO THEY OF COURSE WILL CHARGE ALL THEIR OTHER CHARGES, BALANCE,TIRE DISPOSALS,TIRE CHARGES,BALANCE. EVEN THOUGH CLEARLY THIS IS A GOODYEAR FIASCO. I WAS CERTAIN THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE GOODYEAR SHOP KNEW ALL ABOUT THIS DEFECT. *AK
REAR DIFFERENTIAL BROKE WHILE ACCELERATING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC ,LEAVING THE VEHICLE POWERLESS. *AK
DURING A RECENT OIL CHANGE, THE TECHNICIAN POINTED OUT THE AXLE END SEALS WERE LEAKING ONTO THE REAR BRAKE ROTOR ASSEMBLY ON MY SE KING CAB. THIS REDUCES THE BRAKE'S ABILITY TO STOP. I CURRENTLY HAVE 81,000 MILES ON THIS 2005 MODEL. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 75,000 MILES JUST ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO AND THIS PROBLEM WAS PROBABLY HAPPENING DURING THE WARRANTY BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE IT AS I CHANGE MY OWN OIL MYSELF MOST OF THE TIME. AFTER LOOKING OVER THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THE TITANS. NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AS THEY DID THE BRAKE PROBLEM. *AK
DURING THE MOST RECENT OIL CHANGE, I WAS DIRECTED BY THE TECHNICIAN TO THE BACK SIDE OF THE REAR WHEELS, BOTH SIDES. FROM THIS VANTAGE POINT, YOU CAN EASILY SEE THAT LUBRICATION FROM THE REAR AXLE IS LEAKING ONTO THE REAR BRAKE ROTOR ASSEMBLY VIA THE AXLE END SEALS. I IMMEDIATLEY CONTACTED NISSANUSA AND HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO GET ANSWERS FROM THEM AS TO WHAT, IF ANYTHING THEY WILL DO TO RECTIFY THIS CONDITION. MY EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN HAS RECENTLY EXPIRED. ACCORDING TO INTERNET FORUMS FOR NISSAN TITANS, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS AND IT APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. NISSANUSA CONTINUES TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND BY AVOIDING ANY DIALOGUE.
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILED, CAUSING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAK AT RIGHT REAR HUB. CAUSED LOW LEVEL OF FLUID IN DIFFERENTIAL. ENTIRE AXLE ASSEMBLY BEING REPLACED.*AK
WE OWN A TITAN AND ARE SATISFIED BUT HAD SOME ISSUES AS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED VEHICLE. EACH HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF UNDER WARRANTY FROM OUR DEALER ALAN JAY OF SEBRING FLORIDA, A VERY PROFESSIONAL OPERATION I MIGHT ADD. THE ONE MOST RECENT OF CONCERN CAUSED BRAKE INTERRUPTION AND WHEN I INSPECTED THE BRAKE SYSTEM ONE OF THE REAR BRAKES APPEARED TO BE LEAKING, WHICH I SUSPECTED THAT TO BE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A REAR AXLE SEAL AND REPLACED BOTH THE SEAL AND THE BEARING WHICH HAD BECOME DAMAGED. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A QUITE COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED. WE USE THIS VEHICLE DAILY FOR BUSINESS AND ALREADY HAVE 44,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS NOT YET TWO YEARS OLD. MY CONCERN IS MY WARRANTY WILL RUN OUT WITH EXCEEDED MILES BRFORE THE TIME LIMIT AND THE OTHER AXLE CAN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY DID THEY ONLY CHANGE ONE? I WOULD LIKE THE OTHER SIDE CHANGED AS THEY ARE IDENTICAL IN DESIGN. PLEASE RESPOND TO MY REQUEST, THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS FAILED 3 TIMES. NISSAN REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE 3 REAR END. THIS COST ME 2,900.00 PLUS TOWING. THERE HAVE BEEN 6 BRAKING FAILURES. I HAVE PAID FOR THE LAST 3 BRAKE JOBS. IN ONE CASE THE FRONT BRAKES FELL OUT ON THE GROUND. NISSAN DID NOT COVER THIS THIS COST INCLUDING THE TOW. TO DATE THIS TRUCK HAS COST ME OVER 4000,00 AND AT LEAST 60 DAY OF DOWN TIME. *TR

REAR AXLES SEAL FAILURES ON A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. *AK
I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT HAS DEVELOPED IN MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING, OIL IS GETTING ONTO THE REAR WHEELS BRAKING SYSTEM THEREBY POSING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE OCCUPANTS AND THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED JUST AROUND 50,000 MILES ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN, WHICH IS VERY SURPRISING FOR ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS SMALL AMOUNT OF MILEAGE. I HAVE FOUND ON OTHER WEBSITES THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH LEAKING REAR AXLE SEALS, WITH MILEAGE AS LOW AS 8,000 MILES, 25,000 MILES, 40,000 MILES; YET STILL, NISSAN CONTINUES TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM, AS FAR AS A RECALL IS CONCERNED. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COSTLY TO BE CORRECTED, RANGING FROM $1,000 TO AS HIGH AS $3,000, DEPENDING ON THE DEALER'S ESTIMATION. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND, FOR THE SAFETY OF PERSONS AND VEHICLES, THAT NISSAN BE COMPELLED TO COME UP WITH A RECALL OF THESE FAULTY AXLE SEALS ON NISSAN TITANS. THANK YOU. *TR

WENT TO THE BEACH, NEXT DAY I NOTICED A TERRIBLE, NOISE/FEEL FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK, TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID IT'S THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AGAIN... *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF RADIATOR FLUID INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO NOTICED A CONSTANT LEAK OF FLUID FROM THE RADIATOR WHICH FORMED A LARGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES WHERE THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. MOST RECENT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE TURNING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, MULTIPLE LOUD CLUNKS CAME FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK AND THE TRUCK HESITATED AS IF THE REAR AXEL WAS BINDING. UPON REVIEW IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS BINDING WHENEVER THE WHEELS BECAME OUT OF SYNC (STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT EVEN SLIGHTLY). THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS IF OCCURRING IN THE STREET AND NOT A PARKING LOT. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO PROMPT NISSAN TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT. THIS IS A DEALER REPAIR ONLY ISSUE AS NO AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT PARTS CAN BE FOUND. WITH NISSAN REPLACEMENT DIFFERENTIALS AT $3000.00 EACH, I'M SURE NISSAN WOULD NOT MIND KEEPING A LID ON THIS ISSUE SO WE CAN KEEP BUYING THEIR PARTS. IT'S TIME SOMETHING WAS DONE BEFORE ANYONE SERIOUSLY GETS HURT WHEN THEIR VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STOPS IN HARMS WAY DUE TO A KNOWN COMMON FAILURE IN THE DRIVELINE. *NM
DOOR LATCH FREEZES IN LOW TEMPS WHICH PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM CLOSING.
MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 CREW CAB LE HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT. EXTREMELY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND NEVER DRIVEN HARD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED UP AND MADE AN HUGE BANG NOISE. ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE REPLACING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY. IF YOU SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS BLOW UP ON THE 2004-2005 NISSAN TITANS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *NM

I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY HEARD A BONG TWO DAYS LATER I FOUND A DENT UPWARD IN BED OF TRUCK AND FOUND A BROKEN SHACKLE. AFTER REPLACING PART AND LOOKING HOW IT WAS MADE YOU COULD SEE THAT IT A POOR DESIGN. ROLL METAL WITH 2 SMALL WELDS THAT PREVENT METAL FROM UNROLLING. ALL WEIGHT OF BACK OF TRUCK AND ANY JARRING CAUSE IT TO SAP. IF BOTH SIDE FAIL AND I HAD TO MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVE YOU COULD LOOSE THE HOLE BACK SUSPENSION. I HAVE DIGITAL PICTURES OF FAIL PART IN QUESTION. *TR
WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY,THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEGAN SHUDDERING VERY BADLY,MAKING LOUD METALLIC SNAPPING NOISES. THE TRUCK WOULD BARELY MOVE OUT OF THE INTERSECTION(10 MPH MAXIMUM).VERY,VERY SCARY CONSIDERING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC!DEALERSHIP SAID "THE ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL HAD FAILED"AND THEY WOULD "EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT" AN ENTIRE NEW REAR-END. THAT WAS 2 DAYS AGO, AND THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TODAY AND SAID IT MIGHT BE READY TOMORROW. I HAVE ONLY 20K MILES ON MY TRUCK ,AND IT HAS LED A RATHER EASY LIFE(NO ABUSE,TOWING,ETC.),THE DEALERSHIP STILL WON'T TELL ME WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE,OR IF I WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE OLD PARTS. *JB

I STARTED MY TRUCK, PUT IN GEAR AND IT MADE A VERY UGLY NOISE IN THE REAR. I TRIED DRIVE AND REVERSE AND IT DID THE SAME THING IN BOTH GEARS. I CALLED NISSAN, HAD THEM TOW IT AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR END. I ONLY HAD 30K ON MY TRUCK WITH MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES.*JB
BAD VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING SO BAD IN FACT HAD TO LEAVE THE ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC. NO INJURIES TO PEOPLE, PROPERTY, OR VEHICLES. HAPPENED 2 MILES FROM HOME SO WENT HOME FIRST. A QUICK CALL TO MY ATTORNEYS OFFICE LED ME TO THE NHTS.DOT.GOV SITE. I WAS SHOCKED OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS I READ ABOUT ON THESE TRUCKS AND STILL NO RECALL? THAT'S JUST IRRESPONSIBLE! PRINTED OUT A BUNCH ON COMPLAINTS AND HEADED INTO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. WENT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER INTRODUCED MYSELF AND ASKED HIM IF THEY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN TITANS BRAKES THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID I'M NOT AWARE OF ANY. SO I HANDED HIM THE COMPLAINTS FROM THIS SITE AND ASKED IF HE COULD EXPLAIN IT TO ME. WITHIN MINUTES THEY ROAD TESTED MY TRUCK AND SAID YES THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD FIX MY TRUCK RIGHT AWAY AND NISSAN WAS GIVING THE BRAKES ON THESE TRUCKS WARRANTIES FOR 10 YEAR OR 100,000 MILES. THEY CALLED ME A RENTAL CAR, PAID FOR IT, AND SAID THEY COULD FINISH THE WORK TODAY. WORK ORDER REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. PADS AND TORQUE MEMBERS REPLACED REAR BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED REAR ROTORS PARTS: 2 40206-ZC00A ROTOR DISC BRAKE 1 41060-ZC027 PAD KIT - DISC 1 44060-ZC025 PAD KIT - DISC BR 4 41005-7S000 BOLT TOOK THEM A FEW HOURS TO FINISH THE REPAIRS I WAS OPTIMISTIC TO SEE THEY GOT RIGHT AFTER THE PROBLEM HOPEFULLY THAT FIXES IT. I WOULD STILL LIKE TO HAVE THAT 10Y/100K BRAKE WARRANTY IN WRITING. WE WILL SEE IF THIS IS JUST A WORK AROUND OR A FIX TIME WILL TELL. I'LL POST MORE INFO AS I RECEIVE IT. B
LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL STARTED LEAKING ON 2005 NISSAN TITAN @22,000 MILES. OIL CAN AND DOES REACH REAR BRAKES CAUSING LOSE OF BRAKING. DEALER REPLACED OIL SEAL UNDER WARRANTY.
