THEIR IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR THE GAUGE READING INCORRECTLY AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY TRUCK IS HAVING THAT ISSUE, BUT MY VIN SHOWS NOT TO BE UNDER THAT RECALL. I AM ALSO HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS THAT I ALSO BELIEVE TO BE DUE TO A FAILING FUEL PUMP OR POSSIBLY ONE OF THE OTHER MANY PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE PERFORMANCE ON THIS MODEL TITAN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL FOR THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERING MY VEHICLE , I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY NISSAN TITAN SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND ABSOLUTELY NO HELP FROM NISSAN TO FIX FAULTY PARTS, INCLUDING THE VALVE COVER THAT IF CLOGGED WILL ALLOW ENGINE OIL DOWN INTO THE VALVES AND CYLINDER AND CAUSE SMOKING PROBLEM, AND EVENTUALLY RUIN THE ENGINE CYLINDER. MY TITAN WILL NOT TAKE FUEL AND STARTS STALING OUT AT 2000 RPM CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS ALREADY. ALL VEHICLES WITH PARTS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. NISSAN SHOULD'NT BE ABLE TO PIC AND CHOOSE WHO GETS COVERED, THEY SHOULD MAN UP AND FIX THEIR CHEAP PARTS WHEN THEY FAIL.
GAS GUAGE SAYS 189 THEN DROPS TO 70 AND CHANGES EVERY 5 MINS AND ITS DIED WITH READING HALF FULL AND 197 MILES TILL EMPTY IT FLUCTUATES IN MOTION AT A STOP AT RANDOM TIMES
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE FAULTY AND CRACK ALLOWING DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE EXHAUST GASES TO ENTER THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS AND CRASH. IT WAS ONLY AFTER MY 6TH LONG ROAD TRIP (3+ HOURS DRIVING) DID I DISCOVER I WAS BEING POISONED BY CARBON MONOXIDE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO AN EXHAUST REPAIR COMPANY AND AS SOON AS I MENTIONED MY VEHICLE THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME HE WAS 99% SURE I HAD A CRACKED MANIFOLD. HE LATER CONFIRMED THIS WITH A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH REVEALED BOTH MANIFOLDS CRACKED AND LEAKING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE CAB. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME JUST SITTING IN A PARKING LOT! I THOUGHT I WAS JUST GETTING BAD HEADACHES FROM THE LONG DRIVE AND MY NAUSEA WAS FROM THE EXTREME HEADACHES. AFTER THIS HAPPENING SO MANY TIMES I KNEW THERE HAD TO BE MORE TO THIS. THINK ABOUT SOMEBODY DRIVING, BEING POISONED TO THE POINT TO WHERE THEY PULL OFF THE ROAD TO REST AND TRY TO SLEEP OFF THEIR HEADACHE IN A RUNNING VEHICLE TO STAY WARM AND END UP DYING. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS. I DON'T WANT A NEW DEFECTIVE MANIFOLD, I WANT A FIX!
THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY SUDDENLY; THE RPM'S REVVED UP ACCESSIBLY TO 3000-4000 WITHOUT GOING INTO GEAR. AFTER I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER I WITNESSED FLUID SPEWING ALL OVER MY ENGINE, OUT ON THE SIDES OF MY VEHICLE, AND UNDER HOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE FUMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE CONTACT TO BECOME NAUSEOUS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE TWO CRACKS ON THE MANIFOLD AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
2005 NISSAN TITAN, THE HEATER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, THE FAN BLOWS FINE ALONG WITH THE A/C, IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF THE TRUCK IS MOVING OR STATIONARY.THERE IS A CLICKING IN THE DASH WHEN I SWITCH THE CONTROL FROM, FLOOR TO DASH OR FROM DEFROST TO FLOOR, ETC. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN 2015, BUT ASSUME IT HAS BEEN A PREVIOUS PROBLEM.
I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN INTERSTATE I-95 IN PHILADELPHIA WHEN I OUT OF NO WHERE I HEARD A LOW PITCHED HOWELING NOISE, I WAS PASSING THREW A CONSTRUCTION ZONE SO I COULDN'T PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND LOOK FOR A ISSUE. A FEW SECONDS LATER I HEAR A LOUD SERIES OF THUMPING AND MY TRUCK IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE IS TRAVELING SIDEWAYS AT ROUND 45MPH, I SWERVED AND MISSED SEVERAL CARS AND MANAGED TO JUST MISS THE GUARD RAIL AND COME TO A STOP. IF I WAS TRAVELING ANYTHING OVER 45MPH, IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PRETTY FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. I THEN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO FIND THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD LOCKED UP THE REAR WHEELS AND THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD TORN OUT OF THE REAR AXLE. DO TO THE REAR WHEELS SUDDENLY BECOMING LOCKED, MADE THE TRUCK NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD IT TOWED TO FIND THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD FILLED WITH MOISTURE DO TO A DEFECT IN THE SEAL & VENT OF THE SET UP. I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN THE NISSAN TITAN WORLD.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED AT ABOUT 75,000 MILES.
"TAKATA RECALL" CRACKED MANIFOLDS BANK 1
DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AT APPROX 65 MPH, I EXPERIENCED MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN LOSING ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER TO ALL SUPPORTING ENGINE ACCESSORIES INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING AND ABS. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, BY DOWN SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL, WHICH FAILED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO FIND A FIND A SPOT TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE BUSY HIGHWAY AND CALL FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT I HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL, DESPITE THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWING WELL OVER 1/4 OF A TANK OF USABLE FUEL. AT THIS POINT I DISCOVERED A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THE 2005 - 2009 NISSAN TITAN INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V074000) AND PROCEEDED TO CALL THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED IN THE REMEDY PORTION OF THE RECALL. WHEN SPEAKING WITH NISSAN IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN, AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP BY NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO CONFIRM MY FINDING AND SEE IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR FOR ME UNDER THE RECALL. WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE VIN WASN'T APART OF THE RECALL, BUT DID SEE A SERVICE BULLETIN ASSOCIATED WITH THAT MAKE AND MODEL. IT WAS ULTIMATELY DETERMINED THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO RECOVER WARRANTY MONEY FROM NISSAN, AND INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. BOTTOM LINE, IT CAME DOWN TO A MONETARY ISSUE NOT A SAFETY FACTOR ISSUE FOR NISSAN. IT WAS OBVIOUS MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES AS THE OTHER 2005 NISSAN TITAN VIN'S IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE IN TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER, IT IS OBVIOUS NISSAN FEELS THE ONUS OF LIABILITY ULTIMATELY FALLS ON ME AS A CONSUMER AND NOT THEM, IF I WOULD LIKE TO OPERATE MY VEHICLE IN A SAFE MANNER. The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to open the rear doors and the air bags warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring, and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer several years ago however, no failure was found. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V459000 (Electrical System); however, the vehicle was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
THE TRUCK STALLED OUT NO POWER HAD TO CRASH INTO SHOULDER OF ROAD AND EMBANKMENT. GLAD WE SURVIVED THE BUMPY CRASH, I JUST HAD SUSPENSION WORK DONE THAT SAVED US. WE READ THE IPDM BOARD OR ECM RELAY IS BAD AND CAUSES THIS STALLING TO HAPPEN. PART NUMBER FOR ECM RELAY 284B7-CW29.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THERE WAS AN ODOR EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST OF THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANIFOLD WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
REAL AXLE SEAL LEAK. NISSAN DOES NOT RECOMMEND REPLACING THE SEAL BUT SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AXLE AND TO REPLACE AXLE. IF NISSAN KNOWS THE AXLE IS FAULTY AND REQUIRES THE AXLE TO BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF JUST REPLACING THE SEAL THEN THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND PAY FOR THE FIX UNDER A RECALL.
I BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL I HERD A LOUD POP AND THEN VIOLENT GRINDING. I SHIFTED MY TRUCK TO 4X4 TO PULL IT OFF THE ROAD WHERE IT IS STILL JUST SETTING WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. REAR SEAL AND E LOCKER FAILED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AND NEEDED FUEL IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE READ A QUARTER TANK FULL. AS A RESULT, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDER UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
WHEN I PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE, IT WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE. I DISCOVERED THE LINKAGE FROM THE GEARSHIFT LEVER TO THE CABLE HAD SEPARATED. THE PLASTIC RETAINING RING ON THE SHIFT CABLE HAD BROKEN TO PIECES AND LEFT NOTHING TO HOLD THE CABLE TO THE SHIFT LEVER. THIS IS POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS A DRIVER COULD MOVE LEVER TO PARK AND THINK HE IS ACTUALLY IN PARK WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED. SOMEONE GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS STILL RUNNING WILL THEN HAVE A RUNAWAY VEHICLE. LOCAL NISSAN DEALER HAD NO REPLACEMENT PART. I INSTALLED A RETAINING RING AND CLIP. THE FIX COSTS PENNIES AND JUST A FEW MINUTES TIME. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, MY ENGINE STALLED. I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER TO MY TRUCK, WITH NO ERROR CODES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I HAD TO PLACE MY TRUCK IN NEUTRAL WHILE AT SPEED IN TRAFFIC IN THE LEFT LANE AND COAST TO A SAFE LOCATION ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. DURING THIS TIME, I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. AFTER I SAFELY STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER, I TRIED TO RESTART MY ENGINE. MY ENGINE WOULD NOT START. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, MY TRUCK HAD INTERMITTENTLY STALLED WHILE STOPPED, WITH AN ERROR CODE THAT POINTED TO AN INEFFECTIVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAD MY MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR REPLACED, MY ECM RELAY REPLACED, AND MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED, AT A COST OF ~ $5000 TOTAL. I AM NOW TOLD THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE IS LIKELY THE CULPRIT FOR ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS, WHICH WILL COST ME ANOTHER $700 TO REPLACE. IN RESEARCHING PREVIOUS RECALLS, THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THE ECM RELAY, BUT NOT THE IPDM MODULE. IT APPEARS IN OTHER TITAN FORUMS THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED FROM THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
AS I WAS REVERSING TO BACK OUT A PARKING SPOT I FELT A HARD THUD LOOKED UNDER AND AROUND TRUCK DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING IT STARTED SNOWING AND I HAD TO USE MY 4WHEEL DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE THE INDICATOR SAID IT WAS IN 4WHEEL DRIVE BUT THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN TOOK IT A TRANSMISSION SHOP THEY TOLD ME MY LEFT FRONT AXLE POPPED OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TITAN I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THE SAME WAY MY TRUCK AXLE POPPED OUT AND SAME SIDE CALLED NISSAN AND THEY WONT FIX THIS PROBLEM ITS VERY COSTLY AND DANGEROUS SOME PEOPLE FRONT DIFF BLEW APART I THINK SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE A RECALL OR SOMETHING IT CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BRAKES AND STEERING SEIZED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES IN A FIVE MILE SPAN AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ECM UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND DIFFERENTIAL PUT INTO TRUCK SINCE JULY 2014. THE FIRST ONE WAS WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE AT 65,000 AND THE SECOND ONE AT 80,000 COSTING $3800.00. THE TRUCK IS BACK IN FOR REPAIR WITHIN 5 DAYS SINCE AND BACK BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WAITING TO HEAR FROM MECHANIC. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN TITAN WHICH I PURCHASED USED AT 23,000 MILES. TWO YEARS AGO (2013) I HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE U-JOINTS FAILED WHICH COST $1400 DOLLARS. NOW, MARCH 2015, I AGAIN HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. I FOUND THAT THE RIGHT AXLE HAD POPPED OUT. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED WHICH COST $2300 DOLLARS. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH AND THAT I WAS LUCKY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE (FUEL PUMP, BRAKES, EXHAUST SYSTEM). I WAS ALSO CONTACTED BY AN ATTORNEY WHO INFORMED ME THAT HE WAS CONDUCTING A LAW SUITE AND WANTED TO KNOW WHAT ISSUES I HAVE HAD. THE ATTORNEY INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A "LEMON" BY THE FIRST OWNER. *TR
2005 NISSAN TITAN. DOOR LATCH FAILURE DURING COLD WEATHER BELOW FREEZING. LIVE IN PA, SO TIME PERIOD OF THIS WEATHER IS DECEMBER - MARCH. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, NOR CLOSE PROPERLY FROM INSIDE, OR OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. HAD THIS PROBLEM LAST WEEK, WAS NOT ABLE TO GET BACK INTO VEHICLE FOR 10MIN . YESTERDAY DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY AND PASSENGER NEARLY FELL OUT OF VEHICLE. NO ONE INJURED, HOWEVER YOU CAN IMAGINE THE EXPERIENCE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I MUST DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH A RATCHET STRAP FROM ONE DOOR TO THE OTHER TO KEEP THEM SHUT. THIS IS NOT SAFE BUT THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME. THERE IS A NISSAN TSB THAT THEY WILL REPLACE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM IF VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. NISSAN USA: TBNS BX56AA / TSB 05118. HOWEVER IF VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY QUOTED ME AT $400+ PER DOOR X'S 4 DOORS. THIS IS UNREASONABLE AND A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD FOR MOST OF THE COUNTRY THAT EXPERIENCES WEATHER BELOW 32DEGREES F. IT IS A KNOWN FAILURE THAT NISSAN USA KNOWS ABOUT. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATED RECALL. THERE WILL BE SEVERE LAWSUITS FILED IF ANOTHER PASSENGER, MY CHILD, OR MYSELF CANNOT GET INTO A VEHICLE, OR UNEXPECTEDLY FALLS OUT. AFTER DRIVING FOR 250-300 MILES WITH STOPS FOR FUEL AND FOOD THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND QUITS. AFTER GETTING OFF THE ROAD AND TURNING OFF THE IGNITION FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THE ENGINE WILL RESTART AND RUN FOR 10 T0 20 MINUTES UNTIL IT QUITS AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AT SPEED OF 70+/- MPH. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 6 OR 8 MONTHS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO SEVERAL SHOPS AND SEVERAL PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ACCORDING TO THE ECM SERVICE ENGINE CODES. NOTHING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. TOOK THE TRUCK TO NISSAN DEALER FOR HELP. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SAID THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ANY SUCH PROBLEM AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY DROVE THE TRUCK AND HAD THE PROBLEM HAPPEN WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO QUIT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND AT THIS POINT NEITHER DOES NISSAN. I BELIEVE THIS LOSE OF POWER IS AS DANGEROUS AS THE GM IGNITION PROBLEM WHICH CAUSED A LOST OF POWER. SINCE I NEED THE TRUCK FOR TRANSPORTATION I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT BUT TRY TO STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE SO I CAN GET OFF THE ROAD WHEN IT QUITS.

THE OTHER DAY I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC FOR ALMOST 30 MIN STOPPED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING (LOTS OF CHRISTMAS TRAFFIC ON THE 5 SOUTH FREEWAY), I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK BECAUSE I NOTICE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD MY WINDOWS UP AND MY CABIN AIR ON. THEN A FEW MIN LATER I STARTED FEELING DIZZY ALMOST FAINTING. THE CAR NEXT TO ME SAW THAT I WAS STRUGGLING, CAME TO MY WINDOW AND ASKED ME IF I WAS OK. I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOW AND HE NOTICED THE SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE MY TRUCK. AFTER MY HEADACHE WENT AWAY. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME BOTH OF MY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND THAT'S HOW THE EXHAUST WAS ENTERING NEAR THE FRONT CABIN. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON A US HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIGOROUSLY SHAKE AND A LOUD CLANKING NOISE BEGAN FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE AS IT CAME TO A STOP, I NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT HAD FALLEN OFF. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOAD THE VEHICLE ON A WRECKER, THE REAR WHEELS WOULDN'T ROLL. THE ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLE HAD SEIZED. *TR
WHILE PULLING OUR BOAT OUT FROM BOAT RAMP IN 4LO AND A LOUD NOISE CAME FROM DIFF. WHEN I ARRIVE HOME 25MIN LATER IN THE DRIVE WAY I NOTICED GEAR OIL FROM PASSENGER SIDE. UNDER TRUCK I NOTICED WHERE LEAK WAS COMING FROM AND PUSHED THE AXLE BACK AND IT STOPPED LEAKING. I DRAINED AND REMOVED SHAFT ASSEMBLY SIDE DIFF AND REPLACE SEAL AND REFILLED GEAR OIL. ON THE NEXT TRIP WE NOTICED GEAR OIL LEAK CAME HOME DID RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM PURCHASED THE CIRCLIP THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT AFTER LAST NIGHT NOTICED THE SHAFT BROKE WHERE THE CIRCLIP WAS SUPPOSE TO BE. LOOKED DOWN THE DIFF HOUSING AND NOTICED THE OTHER PIECE OF THE SHAFT NUB STUCK INSIDE. ESTIMATE $2500 FOR DIFF REPLACEMENT TO 38500-8S112B OR $825 TO REPLACE SHAFT AND GEAR. 3RD TIME I'VE EVER USED 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!!! *TR

I NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSES WERE LEAKING OIL ONTO THE GROUND. IF HOSE WERE TO BURST, THIS WOULD CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT. NISSAN HAS A SEALED TRANSMISSION THAT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL. MUST BE TAKEN TO DEALER TO CHECK LEVEL. *TR

THE DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE AXLE COULD LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

NISSAN REPLACED THE ECU RELAY AND FRONT FAN THEY INSTALLED A JUMPER FUSE INTO THE IPDM AND NOW VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING NOW THE VEHICLE WONT EVEN TURN OVER. THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED NOW CHARGED WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION I GET ZERO RESPONSE FROM THE STARTER AS IF THE IPDM WAS BLOWN. COASTED INTO A SIDE STREET. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAD 1/8 OF A TANK OF FUEL. AFTER PUTTING IN ABOUT A HALF OF A GALLON OF GASOLINE WAS ABLE TO GET TO A GAS STATION. ONCE TRUCK WAS FULL IT RAN WITH NO PROBLEM. A WEEK LATER I RAN THE FUEL DOWN TO THE SAME AMOUNT (1/8) WHERE THE TRUCK HAD DIED BEFORE. THIS TIME I HAD A SPARE GAS CAN WITH ME. THE VEHICLE DIED AGAIN. *TR
MEINEKE JUST INFORMED ME 5/23/2014 THAT I HAVE A CRACKED MANIFOLD ON MY NISSAN, TITAN. I'VE ALREADY HAD THE DIRECT FIT CONVERTER/PASSENGER SIDE REPLACE, (CATALYTIC CONVERTER) MUFFLER AND TAIL PIPE REPLACED FOR 1,379.00. AND THIS MANIFOLD IS GOING TO COST ABOUT THE SAME. EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN DUE TO CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. I ONLY USE THE TRUCK FOR FAMILY TRIPS, AND ON THE LAST TRIP I NOTICES A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD, I ALSO NOTICED EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS AT A LIGHT OR A LONG STOP SIGN. I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF THIS TRUCK AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN TITANS BUT THE WORST PART IS THAT THE REPLACEMENTS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, SO NOW I CAN NOT USE THIS VEHICLE.
