TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF AIRBAG RECALL AND AM TOLD THAT GETTING LONG TERM RENTAL CAR IS THE BEST OPTION AS THE "FIX" IS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018. THIS IS NOT A GOOD OPTION HOWEVER AS YOU HAVE TO PAY THE LONG TERM RENTAL INSURANCE RATE OF OVER 11/DAY. THAT'S MORE THAN 300/MONTH! THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COSTS SUCH AS THESE ON A LIFE AND DEATH SAFETY RECALL. BEST SCENARIO IS THAT THEY JUST EVEN TRADE ALL THE CARS FOR COMPARABLE SAFE VEHICLES AS THE PASSENGER AIR BAGS WERE JUST RECALLED THIS YEAR AS WELL. OBVIOUSLY NOT A SAFE OR WELL BUILT VEHICLE. NO HELP FROM EITHER THE DEALER OR NISSAN DIRECT. THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP IN ANYWAY AND JUST SAY THAT THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT SPRING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF HIS VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED ARM, SHOULDER, AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PASSENGER ALSO SUSTAINED NECK, RIGHT SHOULDER, BACK, AND ARM INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V449000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE PARTS WON'T BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS. THE NISSAN NORTH AMERICA NOTICE STATES THAT A COMPLIMENTARY LOANER VEHICLE WILL BE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST. SOME DEALERSHIPS HONOR THIS, OTHER DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT. GETTING A LOANER VEHICLE FOR 6 MONTHS IS VERY DIFFICULT! NISSAN NORTH AMERICA NEEDS TO BE MORE PROACTIVE IN ORDER TO ENSURE SAFETY BY INFORMING THEIR SITES TO OFFER LOANERS AND MAKING LOANERS AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP DRIVING MY CAR AS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME AT NISSAN OF ST. CHARLES, IN ST. CHARLES, IL WHILE MCGRATH NISSAN IN ELGIN IL SAID THAT THEY ARE TAKING A LIST OF PEOPLE THAT WANT LOANER VEHICLES WHILE THEY AWAIT THE AVAILABILITY OF LOANERS. THAT THERE IS NO DANGER OF RANDOM DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG AND IT IS ONLY IF YOU GET IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. THEY SAID NISSAN HAS OFFERED AN ADDED SAFETY IN THAT THEY PROVIDE A LOANER, BUT THIS INFORMATION WAS ONLY GIVEN AFTER I PUSHED THE ISSUE. IN KENOSHA WI, THEY ARE STATING THAT THE AIRBAG CAN RANDOMLY DEPLOY AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN AT ALL. KENOSHA WI SAID THAT SOME VEHICLES WENT DOWN A PRODUCTION LINE THAT HAD THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS WHILE OTHER VEHICLES GOT A DIFFERENT AIRBAG. MY MOTHER ALSO DRIVES A VERSA AND WAS TOLD THAT HER'S DID NOT HAVE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG EVEN THOUGH SHE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. NISSAN ST. CHARLES SAID THAT IF YOU RECEIVED THE NOTICE, YOU HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART. WHY IS THERE SO MUCH CONFLICTING INFORMATION????
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN VERSA. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ORANGE COAST NISSAN (2850 HARBOR BLVD, COSTA MESA, CA 92626), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE STATE POLICE INFORMED THE DRIVER OF THE FAILURE PERTAINING TO THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

TAKATA RECALL: MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG IS UNDER RECALL AND PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP FOR INFORMATION ABOUT A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THE REPAIR CAN TAKE PLACE. AFTER FINALLY BEING REDIRECTED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER FROM TALKING TO SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS, I LEFT A MESSAGE WHICH WAS NEVER RETURNED.

STARTED TO DRIVE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR BUCKED AND THEN HAD NO POWER AND THEN HAD POWER. STOPPED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SEEMED TO FIX ITSELF. HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE. ALSO SOMETIMES THE POWERTRAIN SHUDDERS WHEN FIRST STARTING OFF. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, JUST SOMETIMES.

TAKATA RECALL-IN EARLY 2017, WE REC'D A SAFETY RECALL FROM NISSAN NO. AMERICA RE: POTENTIAL RUPTURING OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR. THE MAILER SAID THAT NISSAN WAS WAITING FOR PARTS & SHOULD BE AVAIL. APRIL 2017. THE CAR WAS WITH OUR SON AT COLLEGE. WE TOLD HIM DO NOT DRIVE W- PASSENGER IN FRONT SEAT. SEPT 25, 2017, WE REC'D A 2ND NOTICE-STATING THAT PARTS WERE AVAIL TO REPAIR FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG + AN ADD'L RECALL 17V-449 WAS IN EFFECT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE, PARTS NOT AVAIL UNTIL SPRING 2018. WE WILL GET THE REPAIR DONE & THERE IS AN OPTION FOR GETTING A LOANER CAR, BUT FOR 9 MONTHS, OUR SON & OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR, NOT KNOWING THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WAS JUST AS DANGEROUS AS THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW NISSAN (NHTSA) COULD NOT CONFIRM THE SAME ISSUE ON BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS & NOTIFY US OF THE DANGER BACK IN JAN 2017. WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN THIS CAR, BUT THE FACT THAT 9 MONTHS LATER WE ARE FINDING OUT THAT OUR SON, AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR AT ALL IS SHOCKING AND HORRIFYING.

I JUST GOT A RECALL ON MY AIRBAGS STATING THAT THE PARTS WONT BE IN UNTIL SPRING 2018!! LOANER CARS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AVAILABLE BUT THE DEALER SAYS THEY ARE WAITING TO GET THEM!! THIS IS DANGEROUS DRIVING!! PLEASE HELP
TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE DEALER ON 9/22/17 THAT SAYS THE AIR BAG PARTS WILL NOT BE RECEIVED TO FIX MY CAR UNTIL SPRING OF 2018. SO ALL OF MY PASSENGERS ARE AT RISK UNTIL THAT TIME.
TAKATA RECALL, WE RECENTLY WERE TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL ON OUR NEW/ USED NISSAN VERSA. WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THE PARTRS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 2018 IN THE SPRING. ALSO WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT A RENTAL WAS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHAARGE FROM A GOVERNMENT LETTER. YET FRED MARTIN NISSAN TOLD US NO SUCH THING WAS AVAILABLE. THEN MY HUSBAND CALLED THEY SAID THERE WAS A RENTAL AVAILABLE BUT THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE OUR CAR WITH THEM UNTIL SPRING TO BE FIXED AND THAT THERE WAS A MILLAGE LIMIT THAT WE COULD NOT PASS OR WE WOULD BE CHARGED. THISS IS RIDICULOUS I WOULD NEVER LEAVE MY CAR THAT I STILL OWE TEN GRAND ON AND TRUST THAT IT WOULD BE SAFE FOR MONTHS IN THERE PARKING LOT. SO WE ARE STUCKING DRIVING THE CAR WITH OUR KIDS KNOWING THAT WE COULD GET SEVERLY INJURED BECAUSE OF SOMETHING A COMPANY DID. IT IS SO WRONG THAT THEY ARE MAKING PEOPLE DRIVE THESE CARS STILL KNOWING THAT WE COULD BE HURT AND NOT GIVING US A REALISTIC OPTION TO GET OUR CAR FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
TAKATA RECALL, WE HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY OFFICIAL MAIL FROM NISSAN ABOUT THIS RECALL. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SENT IN SEPTEMBER, IT IS NOW 10/23/17.
TAKATA AIRBAG. THERE WAS A LOUD POP IN MY STEERING WHEEL ONE DAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING,(NOTHING WAS HIT). THEN MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON EVER SINCE. NOW MY HORN DOES NOT WORK. I AM AFRAID THAT IF I AM EVER IN AN ACCIDENT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. HOWEVER FOR SOME REASON MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND NOW NISSAN IS TELLING ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY 150 JUST TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TO SEE WHAT'S WRONG.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING APPRX 70MPH MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTING FLUTTERING. I HAD TO TRY TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT!! I COULDN'T GO FASTER THAN 20 MPH. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CODE THEY READ WAS PO846. MY CAR ONLY HAS 105K MILES!!! I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE FROM MANY PEOPLE. I ALSO READ THE MANUFACTURER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT ONLY UNTIL 2010!!! WHY???? THESE CARS ARE HAZARDOUS TO BE ON THE ROAD AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A LAWSUIT FILED!! THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH WAS DONE ON 8/25/17
VCT TRANSMISSION FAILURE, TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL WITH NO WARNING, THIS IS A DEADLY FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION, HUNDREDS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ATTEST TO THE NUMBER OF TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION ON A MAJOR 4 LANE ROAD WE WERE ALMOST HIT BROADSIDE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THE OTHER DRIVER SWERVED TO MISS US AND I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DEADLY CONDITION. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WAITING ON TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED I HIT THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR HESITATED AND SURGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED IN THE TRAFFIC LANE WITH 65/70 MPH TRAFFIC COMING AT US. THE FIRST CAR SWERVED TO THE DITCH SIDE AND MISSED US THE REST OF THE TRAFFIC SAW WHAT HAPPENED AND STOPPED AND WENT AROUND. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN VEHICLES ESPECIALLY WITH THE VCT TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS EVEN DEADLY PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED NISSAN FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THEY HAVE RECALLED SEVERAL MAKES OF NISSAN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BUT REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSE TO CORRECT THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THIS PROBLEM IS POTENTIALLY AS BAD AS THE PINTO FIRES, HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN A CVT NISSAN THAT WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT MY WIFE AND I WERE JUST YARDS FROM DEATH BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND NISSAN NEEDS TO BE REMEDY THE SITUATION.
FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INFLATOR HOUSING TO RUPTURE AND DEPLOY ABNORMALLY., THIS IS A CURRENT RECALL ISSUED 7/17/2017 AND NO WORD FROM THEM YET. I HAVE A 2ND RECALL FROM 2015 THAT SAYS SEP 10,2015 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERPM565 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER15V-573 I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AND LIVE IN AN AFFECTED STATE (IL) RECALL ON YOUR SITE SAYS DUE TO A PRODUCTION ISSUE AT THE SPRING SUPPLIER, THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS IN CERTAIN VERSA VEHICLES MAY HAVE INSUFFICIENT CORROSION COATING. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED BUT I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF EITHER RECALL BY NISSAN.
WHEN I HAVE MORE THAN 1 PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE HESITATES; THE ENGINE REVS BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. THE CAR HESITATES AS IT STARTS MOVING AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DIDN'T PICK UP WHILE MAKING A TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP RIGHT AWAY, AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS COST MORE THAN $3,000 AND A 5 YEAR VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE TRANSMISSION GO BAD, AND IT COULD HAVE KILLED US IF THE VEHICLES DIDN'T AVOID HITTING US ON THE ROAD WHEN IT STALLED.

WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON 495 HIGHWAY (APPROX. 65 MPH) THE BREAKS FAILED TO WORK WHEN PRESSED TRYING TO PULL OFF AT MY EXIT. ONCE DRIVING ON BACK ROADS THE BREAKS SEEMED TO BE WORKING AGAIN. THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES PRIOR TO THIS BUT NOT AS SEVERE. HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN SINCE THEN (APPROX. 3-5 MONTHS).
TAKATA RECALL: NISSAN IS NOT ABLE AT THE MOMENT TO REMEDY THE RECALL. CAR IS STILL BEING USED
MY CAR IS, WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CALLS, GROUNDED. STATING IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I RECEIVED A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR SINCE THEN. IT SITS IN A LOT AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH, WHAT THE PARTS MANAGER TOLD ME, WITH A WHOLE LOT FULL OF MY YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS SAME REASON. THE 'OTHER PROBLEM' IS THE COMPUTER MODEL, WHICH HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER SINCE 08/2017. ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER I WAS TOLD, WHICH COULD BE THE NEXT RECALL. I AM CHECKING BY MY VIN IF THIS IS THE CASE. THERE ARE AT LEAST 8 RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR VERSA, DEPENDING ON THE VIN.
