TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING INTO AN INTERSECTION WHEN HIS VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THERE WAS ONE REPORTED INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL BODY REPAIR FACILITY FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500.

MALFUNCTIONING PART THAT NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF (ISSUED A RECALL OF FUEL SENDING UNIT OF SEVERAL SUV'S INCLUDING THE XTERRA) BUT OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES BUT NOT PART OF THE RECALL CAMPAIGN ARE NOT GETTING REPLACEMENTS COVERED BY NISSAN. 2. OCCURS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT NOW; FUEL GAUGE REPORTING ERRATIC, NEEDLE RANDOMLY MOVES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. 3. AS OF RIGHT NOW, A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH NISSAN CORP, TO WHICH THEY DO NOT RESPOND, OR SEEM TO HAVE ANY INTENTION FOR REPLACING OR REIMBURSING THOSE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE DOCUMENTED FAILURES AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. I HAVE 2006 NISSAN XTERRA THAT HAS THE "SES" LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. I HAVE CHANGED THE GAS CAP. THE LIGHT WENT OUT BUT RECENTLY CAME BACK ON, I HAVE 54K MILES AND NOW THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. *TR
ERROR CODE P0463 SHOWS I HAVE A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT. PREVIOUS YEAR XTERRAS WERE SERVICED FOR THIS ISSUE. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. *TR
RECENTLY PURCHASED 2006 NISSAN XTERRA AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM: FUEL GAUGE CAUSING "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT TO BE CONSISTENTLY LIT. INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL BEING SEEN. GAUGE READS HALF EMPTY WHEN VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY EMPTY. IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS EMISSIONS CHECK WHILE "SERVICE ENGINE" SENSOR IS LIT. CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY ARE RECALLING AND REPLACING FSU IN "CERTAIN" 2006 NISSAN XTERRA BUT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA MY VIN NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. SPOKE TO NISSAN AND DESCRIBED THE FACT THAT MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA IS EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE NISSAN RECALL BUT THEY REFUSE TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. *TR
1. HAD JUST FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON A ROAD TRIP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. 2. THE FUEL GAGE READ EMPTY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST FILLED. IT SCARED ME AS I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A GAS LEAK. CHECKED AROUND AND DIDN'T SEE OR SMELL GAS SO CONTINUED ON HOME WITH SHOT NERVES. 3. HAD THE CHECK ENGINE CODE DIAGNOSED AND IT READ AS A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ON THE WEB THIS TURNS OUT TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WHICH NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED. IT WILL COST $500+ TO FIX.
FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK IS OUT ON MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THIS IS UNDER RECALL ON CERTAIN MODEL/YEAR NISSANS AND MINE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NOT SURE WHY MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AS MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR THREE MONTHS AS THE COST OF REPAIR IS OVER $600 AS THE ENTIRE GAS TANK HAS TO BE REMOVED (HAD LIGHT "READ" AND PROBLEM WAS FUEL SENDING UNIT". *TR
FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED WITH 27,000 MILES. IN EARLIER XTERRA'S THEIR IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY AND I MUST GET IT REPLACED BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN THE TANK AND OR THE READING WILL BE ERRONIOUS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO RUN OUT OF GAS AT ANY TIME.
FUEL SENDING UNIT ON A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA, MALFUNCTION. SAME MODEL SAME YEAR AS CURRENT RECALL, BUT NOT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL NOTICE.
MANY NISSAN 2006 XTERRA'S RECALLED FOR FUEL SENDING DEVICE NOT WORKING, IN OTHER WORDS, GAS GAGE DOES NOT WORK. I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THEY ARE KEEPING RECORDS OF THOE NOT RECALLED, MAY BE FUTURE RECALLS. FUEL GAGE DOES NOT WORK. THEIR SONSUMER COMPLAINT LINE SAID STICK A STICK DOWN GAS TANK LINE TO SEE IF HAVE GAS, RIDICULOUS. HOW DO I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL.
FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. WHEN THE TANK IS JUST FILLED, THE LEVEL REGISTERS ABOUT 1/8 TO 1/4. I HAVE TO REFUEL BY ODOMETER. THIS STARTED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, I AM ON MY THIRD TANK AND IT STILL DOES IT. *TR

WHEN THERE WAS A QUARTER TANK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING; THEREFORE, SHE DIDN'T KNOW IF THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY OR FULL. SHE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE MILES DRIVEN ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED ZERO; HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY DRIVEN 50 MILES THE COMPUTER RESET ITSELF, AND THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WASN'T INCLUDED IN RECALL 10V075000 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK HAS FAIL. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT ACCURATELY SHOW THE LEVEL OF FUEL THAT WAS LEFT IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY CAN REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THERE WAS A RECALL NHTSA# 10V075000; COMPONENT: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILLARY BUT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AT 32,000 MILES THE CLUTCH FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN DRIVING 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1500. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS OF BOTH FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
I WENT TO FILL UP MY TANK WITH GAS (WAS 3/4 EMPTY). AFTER FILL UP, THE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE GAS GAUGE CONTINUED TO READ 1/4 TANK. *TR
2006 NISSAN XTERRA FUEL GAUGE. THE GAUGE DROPS TO E AND SENDS A CHECK ENGINE CODE TO THE DASH AND DOESN'T READ HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE XTERRA AT ANY GIVE TIME. I HAVE SPOKEN TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE SAID IT WASN'T PART OF THE NATIONAL RECALL OF OTHER NISSAN FUEL TANK ISSUES. THIS IS RIDICULOUS I AM STILL IN THE 60000 MILE ENGINE WARRANTY AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED MY THE FUEL PUMP 60000 MILE WARRANTY AS WELL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 30 MPH, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR BEGAN ABNORMALLY READING INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED REPLACING THE FUEL SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,500. UPDATED 05/19/2010. *LJ
I HAVE A PROBLEM. I FILL MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA UP WITH GAS. THE GAS GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20 MINS IF WOULD FLOAT SLOWLY UP TO THE FULL MARK. IT TAKES ABOUT 4 DAYS TO GO TO FULL, BUT AT THIS POINT THE TANK HAS ALREADY REACHED ABOUT HALF(I DRIVE 30 MINS ONE WAY TO WORK). THIS CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON, WHICH MAKES ME FAIL MY EMISSIONS TEST. THIS PROBLEMS OCCURS EVERY TIME I PUT GAS IN MY CAR. I CHECKED THE DIAGNOSIS FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IT CAME UP AS FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT. I TALKED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT THIS RECALL, BUT SAID THAT I AM NOT COVERED AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY 300-400 DOLLARS FOR IT TO BE REPLACE (PARTS AND LABOR). I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND OBVIOUSLY MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA CONSISTENTLY SHOWS NO FUEL IN THE GAS TANK WHEN I KNOW THERE IS. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN XTERRA HAS A FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM. AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, MY FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED FULL. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING, THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT SHOW A LOWER FUEL LEVEL. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE DROPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO EMPTY AND THE EMPTY INDICATING LIGHT TURNED ON. I HAD ONLY DRIVEN 100 MILES SO I KNEW THAT THE TANK WAS NOT EMPTY. A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK REVEALED THAT THE FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT MAY BE AT FAULT. (MY DAUGHTER OWNS A HONDA ELEMENT AND SHE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH HER FUEL GAUGE AND HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY.) I AM DRIVING THE CAR AND MUST USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER TO CANCEL THE "SERVICE CAR" LIGHT. MY CODE READER SAYS THAT THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IS THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS JUST RUN PAST ITS WARRANTY PERIOD SO COSTLY REPAIRS WILL RESULT WHEN I GET THE CAR REPAIRED. HAVING PROBLEMS WITH 2006 NISSAN XTERRA FUEL SENDING UNIT (FSU). THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS ERRATIC READINGS AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT TURNS ON. I PULLED THE CODE FROM LOCAL SHOP AND THE UNIT INDICATES PO463 ERROR CODE. 2006 NISSAN XTERRA: STEERING COLUMN ("CONTROL UNIT") WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING SHORTS IN BREAK/TURN LIGHTS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, STEERING LOCKING UP IN A TURN, REQUIRING ME TO FIGHT TO GET THE WHEEL TO TURN AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO LACK OF FUEL AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FUEL LEVEL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE A 2006 XTERRA THAT STALL OUT FOR NO REASON. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH OR LOW SPEEDS, OR AT STOP LIGHTS. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY DAY AND IT MAY EVEN GO WEEKS WITHOUT HAPPENING. HOWEVER, WHEN A FILL UP IS NEEDED AGAIN, SAME PROBLEM PERSISTED. I HAVE ONLY 39K ON THE VEHICLE WHICH I PURCHASED NEW AND THE DEALER IS NOW TELLING ME THAT THE FIX IS $400 - $600 FOR A NEW FUEL SENSOR. THE SAFETY COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THAT YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED IS VERY REAL. AFTER CHECKING OUT MANY ONLINE FORUMS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A TREND WITH LATER MODEL NISSAN XTERRAS, FRONTIERS AND PATHFINDERS. A RECALL IS BADLY NEEDED FOR THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT. *TR

FUEL GAUGE ISSUE. THE NISSAN XTERRA IS EXACTLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS ABOUT 48,0000 MILE ON IT. A FEW DAYS AGO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CODE READERS SAYS P0463 - FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT PROBLEM 1) OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT 2)POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION 3) FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON NISSAN XTERRA'S, PATHFINDERS, AND FRONTIERS. I READ THERE WAS A RECALL ON OLDER MODELS BUT HAVEN'T CONFIRMED IT YET. THIS PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO A PROBLEM AS PEOPLE RUN OUT GAS WHEN THEY DON'T EXPECT TOO - OR ELSE THEY HAVE TO PAY $600 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BECAUSE IT REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE GAS TANK. *TR
I OWN AN 06 NISSAN XTERRA WITH 45K MILES. AFTER TOPPING OFF MY FUEL TANK WITH EXXON FUEL (NOT A DISCOUNT FUEL), MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT SHOW FULL. AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE GAUGE EVENTUALLY CREPT TO READ NEARLY FULL, HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. AFTER SOME RESEARCH APPARENTLY THE FUEL TANKS SENDING UNIT IS AT FAULT AND WAS A RECALLED ITEM ON NISSAN XTERRAS PRODUCED BEFORE MINE. *TR
2006 NISSAN XTERRA OFF ROAD, 4X4. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR OR SENDING UNIT IS FAILED CAUSING THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE TO READ INCORRECTLY, OR ALWAYS READ "EMPTY". THIS COULD LEAD TO RUNNING OUT OF FUEL AT A DANGEROUS TIME. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND LIKE VEHICLES IN THIS RANGE OF MODEL YEARS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM UNTIL I TOPPED OFF MY FUEL TANK. I NOTICED THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ERROR AS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR. NISSAN ADVISED ME TODAY THAT MY 2006 XTERRA IS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED BY THE CURRENT RECALL OF THE FAULTY FUEL SENSORS. *TR
FAILURE OF FUEL TANK LEVEL SENDING UNIT TO ACCURATELY REPORT ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL IN GAS TANK. FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT WILL INDICATE FULL FUEL, OR PARTIAL FULL AND THEN DROP IMMEDIATELY TO BELOW EMPTY WILL FUEL REMAINS IN TANK. *TR NISSAN CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL CAMPAIGN (NHSTA #10V075000) ON THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT FOR 2006-2008 NISSAN XTERRAS, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART AT NISSAN'S EXPENSE. HOWEVER NISSAN DENIED MY CLAIM UNDER THIS RECALL STATING THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT PROMPTED THIS RECALL AND THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED SINCE MY VEHICLE OBVIOUSLY HAD THE SAME DEFECT. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA REFUSED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL AND I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO REPLACE THE PART AT MY OWN EXPENSE. NSTSA SHOULD REQUIRE NISSAN TO INCLUDE ALL XTERRA VEHICLES PRODUCED BY THEM FOR THE YEARS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT ARE EXHIBITING THE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS WHICH PRECIPITATED THE ORIGINAL RECALL, AND NOT ALLOW THEM TO EXCLUDE CERTAIN VIN UNITS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WISH TO DO SO.

THE GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE NOT READING PROPERLY AND IN FACT THE GAUGE MAY ALSO SHOW THE STEADY AMBER LIGHT INDICATING THERE IS NO GAS IN THE TANK, WHEN IT IS A FULL TANK OF GAS. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FOUND METAL SHAVINGS FROM THE NISSAN DEALER. I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SHAFT HAVING TROUBLE. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A PLASTIC PIN THAT BROKE AND THERE WILL BE NO EFFECT ON THE STEERING. SO I HAD BROUGHT IT BACK AFTER 4 YEARS OF DEALING WITH LOOSE STEERING WHEEL. INVOICE 284857 FROM THE VALLEY HI NISSAN TAG [XXX] WAS REPAIRED 03 APRIL 2015. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL SINCE I FOUND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM MIDAS MECHANIC. I BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN XTERRA FROM SLOANE NISSAN IN 2006, AFTER 70+ MILES, THE CAR VIBRATES AT AROUND 40MPH WHILE SHIFTING AUTOMATIC GEAR (I DID NOT KNOW WHY IT WAS VIBRATING). FINALLY AFT 80+ MILES, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO ONLY FIND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR BLEW THE TRANSMISSION. THAT IS A SHAME, I JUST FINISHED PAYING FOR THE CAR AND NOW I HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY TO FIX IT. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN XTERRA, PATHFINDER & FRONTIER. AFTER FILLING TANK GAS TANK TODAY (APPROX. 1/2 FULL), I NOTICED THAT MY CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND STAYED ON. ALSO, MY FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER THAT THE TANK HAD BEEN FILLED. I CHECKED THE FUEL CAP SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE CERTAIN THE CAP WAS TIGHT - WHICH IT WAS. CONSEQUENTLY, I WENT TO FIRESTONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL-SENDING UNIT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICEMAN THAT THE COST FOR REPAIRS WAS $388. *TR
FUEL SENDING PUMP FAILS TO REGISTER HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS CAUSED THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT TO COME ON. THIS IS ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT IN OTHER 2006 XTERRAS BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN IS NOT QUALIFIED BECAUSE I HAVE ONE OF THE "NEW PUMPS" THAT ISN'T DEFECTIVE. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE PUMPS IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT IS WHY IS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. BUT MY VIN DOESN'T QUALIFY. *TR
HEATER IN VEHICLE WENT OUT HAVE SPENT $999.79 BECAUSE PARTS MELTED NOW APPROX. 2 WEEKS AFTER PARTS REPLACED SMELLS AS IF SOMETHING IS BURNING AND NOW DEALER INFORMS ME I NEED A NEW BLOWER THAT WILL COST AN ADDITIONAL $414.63 AND I HAVE VERY LITTLE HEAT AGAIN. I FORESEE THIS AS A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD AND NISSAN NEEDS TO RE-DESIGN THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT. I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 30K MILES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS AND WITH AROUND 39K-49K. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600. *TR
